PURCHASED NEW AND WITHIN 40,000 MILES THE CLUTCH HAS FAILED TWO TIMES AND THE TRANSMISSION MODULE HAS FAILED ONCE AND HAS HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED TWICE. THE SUSPENSION MAKES LOUD NOISES ON THE FRONT END WHENEVER YOU HIT ANY BUMP. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE IT CAN LOSE THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE REVERSING, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND "PULL OVER FOR SIX MINUTES" WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND MULTIPLE OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING. AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I HAD TO COAST OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND ONCE STOPPED IT WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I GOT A WARNING THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS HOT AND TO STOP SAFELY. RECENTLY I HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED AND WAS ASSURED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR

DRIVING ON I-97 SOUTH AT SPEED WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE CAR SUDDENLY "RACED" AND SLOWED DOWN AND ACCELERATOR DID NOT RESPOND TO MORE POWER WITH CARS AND TRUCK APPROACHING FROM BEHIND. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER, COMPOSE ,MYSELF SHUT DOWN. CAR THEN RESTARTED AND I CONTINUED ON AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I PROCEEDED TO DAVE'S AUTO SERVICE IN ANNAPOLIS MY MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT I NEED TO GO TO FORD DEALER TO RE-SET COMPUTER MODULE OR SOMETHING THO THAT EFFECT. TOMORROW I GO TO BOB BELL FORD IN GLEN BURNIE. MD TO SEE WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AND GET REPAIRED. I GOT INTO MY CAR AFTER WORK AND NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, AS I LEFT THE PARKING LOT OF MY JOB AND HEADED TOWARDS THE FREEWAY WHICH IS ACROSS THE STREET, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE . I COULD ONLY REACH SPEEDS OF 40 MPH AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND I COULD HEAR KNOCKING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND TOOK STREETS HOME, AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE SHAKING STOPPED AND I WAS ABLE TO PICK UP SPEED BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE VERY NEXT DAY THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE CAR RAN SMOOTHLY BUT ON THE THIRD DAY AS I GOT IN MY CAR ONCE AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AND AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AND THIS TIME I COULD ONLY GET THE CAR TO REACH 20 MPH WHICH WAS ONCE AGAIN ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD RATTLING AND KNOCKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT TRYING TO ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR JUST DOESN'T PICK UP SPEED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT CLOSE THE DOOR JUST BOUNCES BACK OPEN IF YOU ATTEMPT TO CLOSE IT. I HAVE TO USE A CORD OR ROPE TO TIE THE DOOR HANDLE CLOSED OR IT WOULD SWING OPEN DURING VEHICLE OPERATION.
I STARTED NOTICING THIS 3 DAYS AFTER I HAD MY TRANSMISSION SHUDDER FIXED. I GOT TO THE POINT THAT ANY TIME I STARTED MY CAR AND TRIED TO TURN MY WHEEL WHILE GOING IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE THAT I HAD NO POWER STEERING ASSISTING ME IN MY TURN. IT WOULD TAKE ALL I HAD TO TURN THE WHEEL, AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD GIVE THE ALERT FOR NEEDING TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE. I TOOK IT IN, AND THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER DID A SERVICE UPDATE. I DROVE IT AROUND FOR A FEW MORE DAYS BEFORE I NOTICED WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO TAKE TURNS MY WHEEL WOULD PHYSICALLY STOP TURNING WHILE IN MID TURN. I TOOK IT BACK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY DID ANOTHER UPDATE TO MY POWER STEERING. 2 DAYS LATER IT'S DOING THE SAME THING. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE FOR THIS TO NOT HAPPEN WHILE TRYING TO PULL A QUICK AVOIDANCE MANEUVER. IT'S PROVING TO BE TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND CLUTCH FAILED. THE DEALER (ALLAN VIGIL FORD, 6790 MT ZION BLVD, MORROW, GA 30260, (678) 364-3673) STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT ON SUNDAY 3/15/15. MY CAR HAS FLASHED HILL ASSIST NOT WORKING AND NOT IN PARK WHEN IT WAS INDEED IN PARK AFTER THE RPM GO UP TO 5 & 6 AT ANY GIVEN TIME AND FORCING ME TO PULL OVER. MY CAR WOULD START, BUT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70 AND THE CAR JUMPS OUT OF GEAR AND I CAN NO LONGER GO, SO I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AND LUCKILY RESTART THE CAR AND GO. I ALSO HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING. WHAT IF THIS CAR CAUSES MYSELF AND FAMILY TO BE INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT? WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS DURING RUSH HOUR? THIS IS A WORLD WIDE ISSUES AND FORD IS FULLY AWARE YET THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH ON A BUSY ROAD WHEN THE ALERT SOUND WENT OFF IN THE CAR. THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAID THAT THERE WAS A POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. I WAS ABLE TO ARRIVE AT MY DESTINATION JUST UP THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE STEERING HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY STEERING ISSUES SINCE. *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN EARLY 2014. I HAD THIS CAR NOT EVEN TWO YEARS AND THE TRANSMISSION IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THE CAR SHAKES, RATTLES, AND STALLS AS I'M DRIVING. THE LETTER I RECEIVED FROM FORD STATES THAT THIS IS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE CAR. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ON MY CAR IS LEAKING AND CONTAMINATED. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WOULD BE ALMOST EMPTY IN 24 HOURS. IN ORDER TO USE MY CAR FOR A DAY, I WOULD NEED TO REFILL MY CAR WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID SO IT WILL AT LEAST MOVE. THE CAR AT TIMES WOULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE POWER-SHIFT STRUGGLES TO CHANGE GEARS AND AT TIMES WON'T ACCELERATE. THIS PROBLEM MAYBE NOW BEGINNING TO AFFECT MY ENGINE. THE FOCUS WON'T EVEN START AT TIMES. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE RADIO WILL GO ON/OFF AND WITH TIME, SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THEIR ARE ALSO REPORTS OF CAR WILL ROLL BACK ON HILLS WHEN IN DRIVE AND IT DOES. THE FORD FOCUS 2012 HAS TOO MANY DESIGN AND MANUFACTURER PROBLEMS NOT TO HAVE A RECALL OR LEMON LAWSUITS. THIS CAR NEEDS TO SIMPLY BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER MODEL (NOT 2013 OR 2014 MODELS, SAME REPORTS) OR FULL REIMBURSEMENT. *TR
FIRST TIME: WAS MERGING FROM ONE HIGHWAY TO ANOTHER AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. WARNING CAME ON. I GOT OFF IMMEDIATELY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE WARNING MESSAGE WENT OFF AND THE CAR WAS FINE. I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO DO IT AGAIN AND THAT THEY CHECKED THE CONNECTIONS AND ALL WAS FINE. SECOND TIME: WAS PARKED AND WENT TO TURN THE CAR ON. THE WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON AND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN AND IT CLEARED ITSELF. I AM GOING TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN TO FORD SO THAT I CAN GET THE DATES THAT THIS OCCURRED ON RECORD. THIS IS TWICE WITHIN MONTHS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. IT IS SCARY TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR AGAIN. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME FROM WORK AND IT BEGAN SPUTTERING. LUCKILY THERE WAS A RESIDENTIAL ROAD NEARBY AND HE TURNED OFF THE BUSINESS HWY AND THE CAR DIED. IT WOULDN'T START AND WAS ACTING LIKE IT HAD NO GAS EVEN THOUGH IT HAD OVER HALF A TANK. IT HAD TO BE TOWED. IT HAS NOW BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS WAITING ON A BACK-ORDERED FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CROSSED THE DIVIDING ROAD LINES CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT DID NOT DISCLOSE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OR NOT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,403.
THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT ON TUESDAY 3/12/15. MY CAR HAS FLASHED TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION, PARKING AID MALFUNCTION, HILL ASSIST NOT WORKING. MY CAR WOULD START, BUT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. TWO COPS HAD TO PUSH MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SINCE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 75 AND THE CAR JUMPS OUT OF GEAR AND I CAN NO LONGER GO, SO I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AND LUCKILY RESTART THE CAR AND GO. I ALSO HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING THIS PAST WEEK AND IT KEEPS FLASHING PARKING AID MALFUNCTION, SERVICE REQUIRED. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND THIS IS RIDICULOUS. IF THIS CAR CAUSES US TO BE INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT. THIS IS COMMON ISSUES AND FORD IS FULLY AWARE YET I DO NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. *TR

POWER STEERING QUIT AND DRIVING WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR A FEW BLOCKS. POWER STEERING THEN CAME BACK INTERMITTENTLY. MANUAL SAID TO SHUT VEHICLE OFF FOR 10 SECONDS AND RE-START. THAT WORKED FOR A FEW WEEKS AND NOW STEERING IS GOING OUT ALL THE TIME FOR A FEW SECONDS AT A TIME.
COULD NOT MOVE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL WHEN I STARTED CAR. AFTER MULTIPLE RESTARTS, STEERING FINALLY WORKED NORMALLY. THIS SAME STEERING LOCK HAS HAPPENED WHEN I START MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 30 TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. FORD DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A CODE FOR THEM TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, BUT AM SOMEWHAT WORRIED MY STEERING MAY LOCK UP IN THIS SAME MANNER WHILE ON THE ROAD.
THE TRACTION CONTROL IN THE VEHICLE OPERATES IN AN UNSAFE MANNER IN SNOWY ROAD CONDITIONS. WHEN CLIMBING A SLIGHT GRADE IN SNOW, THE TRACTION CONTROL CONTINUALLY REDUCES ENGINE POWER TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER MOVE FORWARD. AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS TO A STOP WHILE MODULATING THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE WILL NOT REV ABOVE 1500RPM WITHOUT THE TRACTION CONTROL CUTTING OFF POWER. CONTROLLED AND SUSTAINED FORWARD MOMENTUM IS REQUIRED FOR SAFE DRIVING IN SNOWY CONDITIONS. THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE WHEN TRAVERSING TYPICAL ROADWAY INCLINES IN SNOWY WEATHER WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED. ADDITIONALLY, IT TAKES NO FEWER THAN SEVEN INPUTS FROM THE DRIVER TO ENGAGE OR DISENGAGE THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM; SOMETHING THAT MUST BE DONE FREQUENTLY IN THIS VEHICLE TO KEEP IT MOVING SAFELY IN SNOW. THIS CREATES UNDUE DRIVER DISTRACTION IN ALREADY DEMANDING DRIVING CONDITIONS. A MANUFACTURER RETROFIT OF A SIMPLE ON/OFF SWITCH FOR THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, AS INSTALLED IN MOST CONTEMPORARY VEHICLES, SHOULD BE THE MINIMUM REMEDY. *TR
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING FAILING TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY AND 3 TIMES UPON START UP. THIS SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF US ON THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY TRAFFIC WAS LITE AND WE SAFELY MAKE IT ACROSS ALL TRAFFIC LANES TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR IT OPERATED NORMALLY? THE INTERNET NOTED SIMILAR EVENTS BUT NO SAFETY RECALLS. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY. UPON STARTING THE SAFETY SYSTEM INDICATED A (POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE). I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RACK AND PINION MODULE HAD FAILED AND THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE TUNE OF $2'500 DOLLARS. FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM IS COMMON AND HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 150K MILES BUT THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM SO THOUSANDS OF FORD FOCUS OWNERS ARE DRIVING UNSAFE CARS. ON SEVERAL INSTANCES WHILE ENTERING A TURN THE POWER STEERING SHUT OFF AND A FAILURE NOTIFICATION WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS RESULTED IN SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS, ESPECIALLY WHILE HAVING TO QUICKLY ADJUST TO THE INCREASED STRENGTH REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE TURN WITHOUT HITTING ANOTHER CAR OR CURB. TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON RESOLVES THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY, BUT POWER STEERING FAILS SEEMINGLY RANDOMLY EVERY TIME.

CAR LOST POWER AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON I-95. UNDERNEATH PARTS AND LOWER BODY PANELS CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE PAUL CLARK FORD DEALERSHIP IN YULEE, FL. WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ENGINE HAD EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THERE WAS A HOLE A LITTLE SMALLER THAN A BASKETBALL BLOWN OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CRANKCASE WITH THE OIL PUMP AND PIECES OF THE ENGINE LAYING ON THE SHIELD COVERING THE OIL PAN. THE CAR HAD JUST BEEN FULLY SERVICED WITH IT'S ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, RECOMMENDED SERVICE ROUTINE, ETC BY SAME DEALER. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS UNDER FULL WARRANTY, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AS OF YET. FORD IS CONDUCTING AN INTERNAL REVIEW AND SAID IT COULD TAKE UP TO 90 DAYS BEFORE A DETERMINATION IS MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED ON FOUR OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
WHEN EXCELLING FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE CAR JERKS AS IF THE CLUTCH IS NOT CATCHING. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE CLUTCH PLATES AND THEY SAID I HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK. A CAR THAT IS STILL UNDER FULL WARRANTY SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES. THE CAR STILL JERKS ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE THINGS ON THE CAR.
