WAS LEAVING MY DESTINATION WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON STATING STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED. BROUGHT CAR TO GUS MACHADO FORD OF KENDALL WAS TOLD NEEDED NEW POWER STEERING GEAR AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1778.81 TO REPLACE. AFTER RESEARCHING COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2012 FORD FOCUS, I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY CONSUMERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. OBVIOUSLY THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THIS PARTICULAR PART. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING WHEN THIS OCCURRED, I COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS SHOULD REALLY BE INVESTIGATED IN ORDER TO AVOID A FATAL ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD WITH THIS ISSUE TO GET MY COST COVERED IN ORDER FOR THEM TO REPAIR IT. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I OWN A COMPANY WITH A FLEET OF VEHICLES, TWO OF WHICH ARE A 2012 FORD FOCUS. BOTH FORD VEHICLES HAVE HAD MULTIPLE DOOR LATCHES FAIL. I WILL SUBMIT A SEPARATE ENTRY FOR THE OTHER VEHICLE TO PROVIDE THE VIN# AND DETAILS. THE VEHICLE REFERENCED IN THIS DOCUMENT WITH THE VIN# ABOVE HAS NOW EXPERIENCED THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN WHICH A DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED BETWEEN MAY AND AUGUST OF 2014. EACH INCIDENT WAS A DIFFERENT DOOR LATCH FAILING. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY EMPLOYEE'S OUT IN THE FIELD BECAUSE THE DOOR COULD SWING OPEN WHILE THEY ARE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR AN OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE TO BE EJECTED. *TR
AN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN A STALL-LIKE CONDITION. SHIFTING GEARS LOCK UP. HAVE TO SHUT OFF CAR, LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RESTART IT. *TR
SHUDDER VIBRATIONS AND ACCELERATION LAG DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION OF THE DTC (DUEL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION) IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE STEERING ASSIST WARNING SENSOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
IN THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION WHERE MY CAR HAS DIFFICULTIES SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. IT SHUTTERS AND JOLTS, FEELS LIKE I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I COMMUTE DAILY, ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC, SO THIS HAS NEVER BEEN ACCEPTABLE. ON JUNE 1ST, I WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE COMING AROUND A CORNER WHEN MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT APPEARED AND I LOST POWER TO THE ENGINE. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, RADIO, AC WERE STILL WORKING, I JUST COULDN'T MOVE THE CAR. I WAS STALLED AND WAS NEARLY HIT A FEW TIMES SINCE I WAS STUCK IN A TURN. I TRIED TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF, NO LUCK. I HAD MY CAR TOWED HOME, AND FORD TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING WHERE I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS STUCK IN GEAR. IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION MODULE. THE NEW MODULE WAS REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP. I WENT IN THE NEXT DAY, THE PORTER PULLED UP MY CAR AND I COULD NOT DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT, BECAUSE NOW IT WAS STUCK IN "PARK". I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED AND I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE COMPUTER MAY HAVE HAD A GLITCH WHEN REPROGRAMMING OR IT MAY HAVE RESET ITSELF. I WAS TOLD THIS CAN MORE THAN LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN, HOW DISAPPOINTING. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR AND ESPECIALLY LONG DISTANCES. I'M AFRAID THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT EVEN WORSE, WHILE I'M ON THE ROAD. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL BE LOOKING INTO LEMON LAW OR TRADING IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR AT 38,000 MILES AS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP. WITHIN 5K MILES, I WAS EXPERIENCING CHATTERING ON TAKE OFF, AND AT LOW SPEEDS (MOSTLY RUSH HOUR) & VERY HARD SHIFTS. I TOOK IT IN, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE CLUTCH, AND SENT ME ON MY WAY WITH MUCH LESS CHATTERING AND ALMOST NO HARD SHIFTS, STILL HORRIBLE IN RUSH HOUR. IN SEPTEMBER, IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK IT BACK, THEY FIXED IT AGAIN. SENT ME ON MY WAY WITH (AGAIN) SOME IMPROVEMENT, BUT NO SYMPTOMS GONE. I TOOK IT BACK IN OCTOBER, THE SERVICE MANAGER DROVE IT WITH ME, HE SAID THE ITEMS I WAS EXPERIENCING WERE ALL "NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS." HE ACTUALLY TOLD ME: "DRIVE IT HARDER, IT WILL PERFORM BETTER." I WAS ALWAYS TAUGHT THAT YOU DON'T RAG ON YOUR CAR AND IT LASTS LONGER. DUMB ADVICE THAT IRRITATED ME. SUNDAY, I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD (LUCKY IT WAS ON A SUNDAY WITH NO SCHOOL TRAFFIC), AND MY CAR SUDDENLY ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY CAR STOPS MOVING FORWARD. AFTER THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO A PARKING LOT. I PUT IT INTO PARK, THEN DRIVE, PARK, REVERSE, NOTHING. AT THIS TIME, I TURNED IT OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THERE IS LESS THAT 52K MILES ON MY CAR. I'VE HAD THE CAR 8 MONTHS. *JS
CAR'S TRANSMISSION FELT SLUGGISH (HESITATE TO ACCELERATE) AFTER 15-20 MINUTES OF LOW-SPEED DRIVING (0-10MPH) IN A TRAFFIC JAM. TEN MINUTES LATER, ENGINE STALLED ON FREEWAY AT 70MPH. TACHOMETER DROPPED TO 0 AND SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED WAS 0. CAR RESTARTED, AND CONTINUED TO BE DRIVEN FOR 15 MINUTES. GEAR DISENGAGED WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS. POWER DID RESUME AFTER 2 SECONDS WHILE CONSTANTLY GIVING GAS. RESTARTED THE CAR AFTER AROUND 30 MINUTES, CAR STALLED AGAIN FEW MINUTES LATER. ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART INSTANTLY. ONLY CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD IN THE ENGINE BAY WHEN TURNING KEYS. WAITED 10-15 MINUTES TO RESTART. CAR ACCELERATED TO 70MPH BEFORE STALLING AGAIN AFTER 1-2 MINUTES. GEAR INDICATOR WAS FLASHING. WHEN THE CAR STALLED, ENGINE RAVED WITH LOST OF POWER FOR 1-2 SECONDS. CAR FELT LIKE IN NEUTRAL EVEN SHIFTER WAS IN DRIVE. TACHOMETER THEN DROPPED TO 300RPM AND NEVER RAV AGAIN. CAR WAS PULLED OVER. THE CYCLE OF STALLING AND RESTART REPEATED 5-6 TIMES UNTIL I ARRIVED HOME. THE NEXT DAY CAR WAS DRIVABLE AGAIN (I ONLY HAVE A 5-MILE COMMUTE). SIMILAR TROUBLES OCCURRED THREE WEEKS AGO WHEN CAR WAS TOTALLY DISABLED AFTER 20-30 MINUTES PARKING LOT DRIVING. CAR HARDLY RESTART AND REFUSE TO GO INTO GEAR. GEAR INDICATOR CONSTANTLY BLINKED. I PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT THE ISSUES WERE RELATED TO THE USAGE OF S GATE, WHERE IT HAPPENED FOR TWO INSTANCE. THERE ARE 3 OCCURRENCES OF SIMILAR TROUBLES. FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN CAR REFUSED TO START, BUT IT WAS PERFECTLY DRIVABLE AGAIN AFTER BEING COOL DOWN FOR A NIGHT. TOWED TO DEALER BUT PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE REASON THAT PROMPTS ME TO WRITE THIS REPORT IS DUE THE LOST OF POWER ON FREEWAY WHICH I BELIEVE IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. ALSO, THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A TROUBLE CODE IN THE COMPUTER, WHICH MAKES IT HARD FOR DEALERS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SURGE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
4 TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN 25K MILES STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, JUMPING, LURCHING HESITATES GRINDING AND SHUTTERS, WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS FROM A STOP IT SOMETIMES JERKS YOU INTO MOVEMENT OR IF YOU PRESS THE GAS A BIT HARDER IT WILL SHUTTER, THE MORE WE DRIVE THE WORST IT JUST UNTIL IT COOLS DOWN. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE WORST PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE FORD DEALER SHIP 5 TIMES SINCE JAN. 2012. THEY KEEP SAYING NOTHING IS WRONG. IT ROLLS WORSE THEN A 5 SPEED. IT TRIES TO STALL OUT ON ME TAKING OFF., ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO DIE GOING UP A HILL. I HAVE TO PUSH GAS PEDAL DOWN ALL THE WAY TO GET UP A HILL. IT HAPPENS MOST THE TIME BUT NOT ALWAYS. IT IS TO THE POINT I AM ABOUT TO NEVER OWN A FORD AGAIN. *TR
TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING POORLY, THEN LIKE AN ENGINE MISS, POWER LOSS, STEP ON GAS IT SLOWED DOWN, TURNED CORNER AT INTERSECTION AND ALMOST DIDN'T MAKE IT THRU INTERSECTION. VERY LIGHT FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR WOULD ALLOW IT TO GAIN SPEED. MISSED 1ST GEAR ON STOP AT STOPSIGN, TOOK OFF IN 2ND OR 3RD (AUTOMATIC)/ CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON UNTIL I GOT HOME, SHUT IT OFF. STARTED BACK UP AND RAN FAIRLY WELL TO DEALERSHIP. THIS IS SECOND TIME IN A WEEK I'VE HAD TO DEALER. THEY DID A TSB ELECTRIC RESET OF SHIFT POINTS AND SAID IT WAS ALL RELATED. I WAS CHARGED FOR THAT EVEN THO THERE WAS A TSB PERFORMED. ALSO MY RF WINDOW MOTOR IS OUT. IT WAS RARELY USED AS I COMMUTE ABOUT 55 MILES A DAY SOLO. *TR
WATER POURING IN FROM SUNROOF MY SON SAID IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT RAINS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS FRACTURED. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE DROPPED AND DAMAGED THE AXLE AND CVC JOINT. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WAS CONSTANTLY BECOMING STUCK PREVENTING THE PASSENGER FROM EXITING THE VEHICLE IN A TIMELY FASHION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES AND WHEN I STOPPED BEHIND ANOTHER CAR ON A STOP SIGN, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, IT HAPPENED TO MY SON ALSO WHO TOLD ME TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN RE-START IT, IT DID, BUT WHEN MY SON TOOK THE CAR TODAY, IT HAPPENED TO HIM AND THIS TIME WOULD NOT START. WENT TO HELP HIM 20 MINUTES LATER AND THIS TIME IT TURNED ON, I DROVE BEHIND HIM ALL THE WAY HOME (ABOUT 30 MINUTES) AND MO PROBLEM? CAN'T TRUST TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANY MORE, I'M TAKING IT TO THE DEALER ON WEDNESDAY (EARLIER APPOINTMENT THEY HAD), BUT AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS I'M AFRAID I CAME TO BE ANOTHER VICTIM, JUST BOUGHT THE CAR LAST DECEMBER 2013! *TR
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY, CAR LOST POWER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, BRAKES WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY TO STOP. WHEN I FINALLY GOT THE CAR STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT NEXT TO MY PLACE OF BUSINESS, THE CAR WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN, AND WHEN IT DID, IT WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR. SAT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR 30 MINUTES TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO START UP AND GO INTO GEAR. WHEN IT FINALLY DID GO INTO GEAR, I GOT IT TO MY PLACE OF BUSINESS 2 BLOCKS DOWN AND PARKED IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THE ELECTRIC VERSION OF THIS CAR, BUT NOT THE GASOLINE VERSIONS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON ALL OF THESE MODELS AS THERE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES UNLESS THE CAR IS TAKEN TO ONE OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS, WHICH IN PAST EXPERIENCE, THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING AT THE DEALERSHIP EXCEPT OVERCHARGE FOR DIAGNOSING THE CAR, AND FOR THEM TO TELL YOU NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT AND THAT THEY KNOW THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE CARS, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THEM AND THEY CAN CHANGE THE PARTS, HOWEVER THAT WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS BY THE MANAGER AT A DEALERSHIP AND HE HAS STATED THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO TO CHANGE THE SITUATION. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO FORD FOR THE SAME ISSUES GM IS HAVING WITH THEIR SMALL CARS. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE GEAR SWITCH WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDED AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES LATER. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
LOSS OF STEERING AT 55 MPH ON TWO LANE HIGHWAY. CROSSED CENTER LINE AND HIT BY ONCOMING TRUCK
I HAVE A FORD FOCUS 2012 SE WITH WINTER AND COMFORT PACKAGES. MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWAPPED UP FROM 79 MPH TO 81 MPH WHEN I PRESSED THE DOWN BUTTON TO SLOW THE CAR. *TR
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START; FORD HAD THE CAR FOR 17 DAYS BEFORE THEY DECIDED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE; THEY CHARGED US IN EXCESS OF $1400; WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST 2+ YEARS FOR NAVIGATION SYSTEM FREEZE UPS AND NOISE/VIBRATIONS IN THE FRONT END. *TR

FORD FOCUS TITANIUM HATCHBACK (2012) HAS TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH PROBLEMS. FORD SERVICE DEPT. HAS "FIXED" OVER THREE TIMES WITH NO RESULT. LEAK BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, ALS LEAK. AT ONE POINT THE SERVICE CHANGE WAS PUT ON HOLD DUE TO PARTS BEING UNAVAILABLE. FORD REFUSED TO PROVIDE RENTAL CAR OR AND EXTRAS TO HELP WITH THE INCONVENIENCE. *TR
WE HAVE THIS CAR AND THEY HAVE ALREADY REDONE PARTS IN TRANSMISSION ONE IN 2014. NOW WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP ON 4 25 2015 AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS MESSED UP AGAIN BUT PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER TIL JULY BUT CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I COMPLAINED THAT I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS THAT IT STALLS AND HESITATES WHEN TAKING OFF OR PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. THEY SAID NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND ACTED THEY COULD CARE LESS. I THEN CALLED FORD AND PRETTY GOT THE SAME RESPONSE SO I SAID Y'ALL BETTER HOPE AND PRAY MY WIFE OR I DON'T HAVE A ACCIDENT. WIFE IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING CAR. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE INTO MERGE LANE AND ONTO HIGHWAY BUT TRANSMISSION DID NOT RESPOND WITH ENGINE REVVING UP AND SLIPPING. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID OBSTRUCTING TRAFFIC OR BEING STRUCK BY TRAFFIC. ALTHOUGH THIS WAS THE MOST DANGEROUS INCIDENT IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND THE FORD DEALER HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN FAST LANE AT 60 MPH, PRESSED FOOT ON ACCELERATOR AND ENGINE REVVED BUT DID NOT INCREASE SPEED. IN FACT, SLOWED DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PUT HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND GET TO RIGHT SHOULDER (COASTING, NO ACCELERATION POWER AT ALL). ENGINE NEVER DIED. TOWED TO DEALER.(WE HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY). THEY HAD IT 4 DAYS COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SINCE NO PROBLEM FOUND WE HAD TO PAY FOR OUR RENTAL AND THEIR DIAGNOSTIC FEES. AFTER RETURNING CAR TO US, SAME THING 2 DAYS LATER. BARELY AVOIDED BEING REAR-ENDED IN INTERSECTION THIS TIME. AFTER THIS 2ND INCIDENT, ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. 2ND TRIP TO DEALER, SINCE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, THEY WERE ABLE TO ADJUST SOMETHING IN COMPUTER. CAR DID OK NEXT 10 DAYS. THEN STARTED DOING THE 'REVVING ACCELERATOR' BUT NO INCREASE IN SPEED AGAIN--TWICE ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. TODAY, 5TH EPISODE IN 5TH WEEK, CAR HESITATED, ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, VERY LOUD 'BOOM' OR 'THUD' IN ENGINE. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2012 FORD FOCUS 24,000 MILES. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED BY THE DEALER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A PAIR OF TIRES HAD SEVERE ABNORMAL WEAR. UPON MY INVESTIGATION, CUPPING IN A 2012 FORD FOCUS IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NO CAMBER ADJUSTMENT TO THE REAR SUSPENSION. CUPPING ALSO REDUCES TRACTION AND BRAKING POWER. MY CONCERN IS FOR SAFETY, AND BELIEVE THE CAR MANUFACTURE HAS FAILED TO PROPERLY DESIGN THE GEOMETRY OF THE SUSPENSION CORRECTLY TO MEET. *TR
THIS CAR HAS BEEN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT START FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, ABSOLUTELY NO RHYME OR REASON. IT DOES START EVENTUALLY. EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL COMES ON, INTERIOR LIGHTS, A/C, HEATER, RADIO, EXTERIOR LIGHTS, JUST NO ENGINE. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS AFTER BEING DRIVEN. IN OTHER WORDS, IT NEVER HAPPENS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT, IT NEVER HAPPENS AFTER A FULL WORK DAY (SITTING 8 HOURS). SINCE PURCHASING MY FOCUS IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION THAT HAVE CAUSED ME TO FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AS THEY HAVE RESULTED IN MULTIPLE NEAR-ACCIDENTS. I HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT WITHIN THE FIRST SEVERAL MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP AND NOTHING WAS FOUND, I THEN TOOK THE CAR BACK IN WHEN SYMPTOMS PERSISTED AND GOT THE CLUTCH REPLACED WITHIN ROUGHLY A YEAR OF BUYING. THE SYMPTOMS SUBSIDED FOR A WHILE, BUT HAVE RETURNED AND ARE STILL AN ISSUE TO DATE. ISSUES ARE DETAILED BELOW: THE CAR OFTEN CHUGS WHEN IN MOTION, ESPECIALLY DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY AND UNPREDICTABLY REFUSE TO ACCELERATE IN A NORMAL FASHION. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHILE MOVING AROUND 20-40MPH AND ALSO WHEN COMING FROM A STOPPED POSITION - SAY WAITING AT A RED LIGHT OR WHEN WAITING TO TURN LEFT AT A BUSY CITY INTERSECTION. THIS IS TERRIFYING AS I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE NORMALLY AND WHEN IT WILL NOT - AT LEAST TWICE IN RECENT HISTORY I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM A STOPPED POSITION, HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, BUT THE CAR STRUGGLED AND FINALLY MADE IT THROUGH TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. OTHER TIMES, THE RPMS SEEM TO REV UP FOR NO REASON, AND THE CAR ACCELERATES VERY QUICKLY THOUGH THE PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL HAS NOT CHANGED. THOUGH THE HAS HAPPENED WITH LESS FREQUENCY, IT IS ALMOST MORE FRIGHTENING AS I FEEL LIKE I AM NOT IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLES SPEED WHILE IN TRAFFIC. TYPICALLY THIS HAPPENS WHEN COMING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AS WELL. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE FORD FOCUS LATELY THAT INVOLVE THE TRANSMISSION AND I AM INCLUDED IN THOSE COMPLAINING. MY AUTOMATIC CAR EITHER WON'T SWITCH GEARS AND SOUNDS LIKE I'M PRESSING THE GAS WHILE IN PARK THEN VIOLENTLY LUNGES FORWARD OR WHILE DRIVING AT AN AVERAGE SPEED LIKE 40 IT'S JUST STOPS COMPLETELY IN THE ROAD. AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED AS THE CLUTCHES NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AS THEY THOUGHT WOULD BE THE ISSUE, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE UP TO ANOTHER 3-4 WEEKS TIL MY CAR WAS ACTUALLY REPAIRED LEAVING ME ALREADY OUT OF POCKET FOR A WEEK FOR A RENTAL CAR. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE 2012 FORD FOCUS AND NOW WHEN I ACCELERATE, THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING TROUBLE GRABBING THE NEXT GEAR AND A SHUDDERING/SHAKING SENSATION WHEN EVER I TRY TO GO UP ANY KIND OF INCLINE. CAR SITTING IN DRIVEWAY. WENT TO START WOULD NOT EVEN TURN OVER. CAR COMPLETELY LOCKED OUT. HAD IT TOWED TO WINNER FORD IN DOVER DELAWARE. CAR IS NOT EVEN 3 YEARS OLD SPENT OVER $700 IN REPAIR WORK. THEN ON 4/14/14 CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN IN DRIVEWAY AGAIN. HAD IT TOWED TO WINNER FORD IN DOVER DELAWARE. NOW THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE BATTERY SAID IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THE BATTERY IS NOW EVEN 3 YEARS OLD! I AM VERY FUSTRATED AND WINNER FORD WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY CREDIT OR REIMBUSEMENT OF MY EXPENSES. THEY KEPT USING THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRENTY. I AM A FIRST TIME BY OF FORD PRODUCTS WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT OR USE A FORD PRODUCT EVEN IF IT WAS GIVEN TO ME FOR FREE. QUALITY OF THEIR CARS IS AWFULL AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP IS EVEN WORSE.KEPT HIDING BEHIND THE WARRENTY TERMS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR MORE THAN TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING ENGINE REVVING VERY HIGH UPON PULLING AWAY CAR FELT IT WAS STALLING OR JUST LOSING POWER, UNDER NORMAL OPERATIONS OF THE CAR I WOULD HAVE CLEARLY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO PULL OUT OF INTERSECTION BUT BECAUSE IT WASN'T GOING FORWARD AS IT SHOULD IT FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
