BEGINNING IN APRIL, THE CAR HAS RANDOMLY BROKEN DOWN SEVERAL TIMES, WITH NO NOTICE, PUTTING MY SAFETY AND LIFE IN DANGER. CARS HAD TO COME TO A JOLTING STOP TO AVOID FROM HITTING ME AND ON ONE OCCASION A POLICE OFFICER ACTUALLY HAD TO INTERVENE TO SAFEGUARD ME FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. PLEASE SEE THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS BELOW. OFRIDAY, APRIL 12TH-CAR BROKE DOWN IN A MAJOR INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ENDANGERING MY LIFE AND THE OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME. CARS WERE ZOOMING PASS AT HIGH SPEEDS AND BRAKING ABRUPTLY TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ME. OWEDNESDAY, JULY 2ND-CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ACROSS A BRIDGE. ONCE AGAIN MY LIFE WAS ENDANGERED. I TRIED TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE WITH RAPIDLY PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP AND I WAS FORCED TO TURN THE CAR OFF WHILE STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND RESTART IT. AFTER GETTING THE CAR STARTED I DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP HOPING THEY COULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTIC READING OR MULTIPLE TEST DRIVES. OMONDAY, JULY 7TH-CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN I DROVE IT TO CARMAX. ON THE WAY THERE I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR AT A SLOW SPEED TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM CUTTING OFF ON ME AGAIN. ALSO, SINCE THE AC SEEMED TO WORSEN THE ACCELERATION OF THE CAR I TURNED IT OFF AND DROVE THE CAR FOR 15 MINUTES IN THE SEARING HEAT. IN THE END THE CAR WAS WITH THE FORD DEALER FROM FRIDAY, JULY 7TH TO TUESDAY, JULY 22ND. OFRIDAY, JULY 25TH- CAR BROKE DOWN IN MIDDLE LANE OF HIGHWAY 64E RIGHT BEFORE ENTERING THE HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE TUNNEL. CARS SWERVED TO PREVENT FROM HITTING ME AND ONCE AGAIN MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS WAS PUT IN JEOPARDY. *JS
WHY ISN'T THERE A MANUAL RELEASE ON A POWER SEAT? THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN MY 2012 FOCUS SEL CONTINUALLY BLEW FUSE AFTER FUSE. THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN THE POWER SEAT BLOWS A FUSE CAUSING THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO AUTOMATICALLY MOVE FORWARD TO THE MOST FORWARD POSITION PUTTING THE DRIVER ON TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL. IF THE AIR BAG HAD BEEN INFLATED I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WHY AREN'T THE MANUFACTURERS REQUIRED TO HAVE A MANUAL RELEASE ON A POWER SEAT?
IT DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. SLOW AND SLUGGISH TO SHIFT. VERY JERKY. ESPECIALLY AT LOWER GEARS. JERKS FORWARD WHEN NOT EXPECTING IT. HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO DEALER TWICE. HAD A NEW CLUTCH PUT IN. WAS GOOD FOR A DAY OR TWO. DOING IT AGAIN!!!! THIS CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED & RETURNED TO OWNERS ONLY WHEN THIS IS FIXED. FORD KNOWS THIS EXPERIMENT DID NOT WORK & IT IS TIME TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I WORK HARD FOR MY MONEY & THIS EXPERIENCE HAS LEFT ME VERY UNHAPPY. I WAS SOOO HAPPY TO GET A NEW CAR. NOW I AM LEFT WITH THIS. AS A SINGLE WORKING MOTHER, I WAS APPALLED THAT I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION BEING MANUAL HYBRID UNTIL I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. THIS IS FRAUDULENT SALEMANSHIP FROM FORD. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN JERKY, SHAKY, JUMPS INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED PERIODICALLY SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR AND HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. MOST RECENTLY, WHENEVER IT SHIFTS AROUND 20 MPH THERE IS A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE ALONG WITH A SHUDDER. BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO HUDSON FORD IN HUDSON, WI ON AUGUST 15, 2014. DEALER STATED THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK AND SEALS WERE DEFECTIVE. THEY REPLACED SEALS. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID NO. ON MONDAY AUGUST 18, 2014 I CALLED THE DEALER BACK TO LET THEM KNOW THE GRINDING NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT, NOT ALL OF THE TIME SHIFTING BUT IT IS STILL OCCURRING. DEALER SAID TO "GIVE IT A THOUSAND MILES AND CALL BACK IF IT STILL HAPPENS BECAUSE NEW PARTS NEED TO LUBRICATE AND BEAK IN." I AM NOT SURE HOW TRUE THIS IS BECAUSE THERE ARE METAL PARTS GRINDING, NOT THE SEALS REPLACED" I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THERE ISN'T MORE WRONG WITH THIS CAR WITH GRINDING METAL NOISES PRESENT. THIS IS A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS SHOULD THE TRANSMISSION FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY OR IT JUMPS INTO/OUT OF GEAR AND A HIT A CAR. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS LIKE MINE. FORD NEEDS TO PROVIDE TOTAL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT OR BUY THESE CARS BACK. *TR
DURING TIMES OF FREQUENT STOP AND GO (ACCELERATING AND DE-ACCELERATING) THE CAR SHUDDERS AND ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE OR DE-ACCELERATE PROPERLY SOMETIMES. I DID NOT NOTICE UNTIL ABOUT 40,000 MILES AND HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM EVER SINCE. SOME MODEL OF FORD FOCUSES ARE UNDER RECALL, HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID MY CAR SPECIFICALLY WAS NOT BEING RECALLED YET IT WAS EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUES.
I JUST HAD MY VEHICLE IN A FORD DEALERSHIP YOU GET THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE WAS ON. IT HAS BEEN OUT OF THE SHOP FOR 3 DAYS AND WHILE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAR CAME TO A HALT AND WOULD NOT SHIFT AND I WAS ALMOST REARENDED. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT. WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL OF THESE TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL? *TR
AUTOMATIC MANUAL CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS, JERKS, VIBRATES AND LURCHES AT LOW SPEEDS OR ON HILLS. FORD REPROGRAMMED CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION IN 2014 AND IT IMPROVED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AS THE CLUTCH IS SLIPPING. PLEASE RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
AT RANDOM TIMES THE CAR WILL JUST SHUT OFF LEAVING A COASTING VEHICLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY, OR LEAVE YOU STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. IF YOU LEAVE IT SIT FOR 30MIN-1HOUR IT MAY RESTART. IF YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IT WAS NOT RESPOND. AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES THE VEHICLE WILL RECOVER FROM A ROUGH IDLE AND TRY TO LUNGE FORWARD EVEN WHEN VEHICLE IS IN PARK. PROBLEM: TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS IMPROPERLY CAUSING SHUDDER EFFECT. AT IDLE THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AS IF ITS GOING TO DIE OUT. THE SHUDDER HAPPENS MOSTLY ON HIGHWAY DRIVING.
THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2012 FORD FOCUS MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND THE CAR JERKS WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A STOP USUALLY THRU 1ST AND 2ND GEARS THRU THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD SPLIT TRANSMISSION. A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE ON THIS CAR, I GUESS IT WILL TAKE SOME ACCIDENTS AND LIVES BEFORE FORD DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
VEHICLE DOES NOT START WHEN KEY IS TURNED. ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS COME ON BUT ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK. ENGINE FINALLY STARTS NORMALLY AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO TURN THE KEY (20+) AND THEN RUNS FINE. THIS PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS AFTER THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR SEVERAL HOURS, I.E. BEING PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT OR AFTER A SHIFT AT WORK. ONCE THE CAR STARTS, IT CAN USUALLY BE TURNED OFF AND THEN START AGAIN WITHOUT INCIDENT, AS LONG AS THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN RECENTLY. THIS BEGAN AS A SPORADIC ISSUE BUT NOW HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY TIME I TRY AND START THE CAR IN THE MORNING OR AFTER WORK. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. BATTERY TESTS FINE AND NO ERROR CODES ARE REPORTED IN THE COMPUTER. *TR
TRIED TO TAKE OFF AT STOP LIGHT. WHEN I HIT THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR JERKED REAL HARD BUT BARELY ROLLED. THEN THE RPM WENT TO 5000-5500 AND IT TOOK OFF REAL FAST. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2012 FOCUS AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR, TRUSTING FORD AND HAVING PEACE OF MIND WITH A WARRANTY. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP I STARTED THE CAR AND A MESSAGE SAYING "STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION" DISPLAYED. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WENT AWAY. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT ABOUT 3-4 TIMES WHILE AT DEALERS FOR TRANSMISSION "FIXES". EVERY TIME THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, IT NEVER GOT FIXED. NOW EVEN IF I RESTART THE CAR, THE STEERING IS OUT. IT IS COMPLETELY GONE AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGE BECAUSE IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT THEY COULDN'T PULL ANY CODES BEFORE. SO I'M LEFT TO DECIDE, SHOULD I FIGHT THEM FOR THIS AND THE TRANSMISSION, OR JUST GIVE THEM ANOTHER $100 FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR WHEN I ALREADY GAVE THEM $2000 FOR A WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE STEERING FAILED FORTUNATELY I WAS AT MY OWN STREET AND FINALLY GOT IT HOME BY GETTING MY GRANDSON TO HELP ME TURN THE WHEELS. TOOK TO AAMOCO THEY SCANNED FOR CODES AND UPDATED THE PCM/TCM. IT BROKE AGAIN IN 3 DAYS. I WAS FORTUNATE AGAIN I HAD NOT LEFT MY DRIVEWAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YO ARE ON A FREEWAY OR OTHER ROADWAY WHERE TRAFFIC IS MOVING FAST. THIS WHOLE ENDEAVOR COST OVER $2000 TO FIX. I AVERTED THE DANGER BUT WHOSE TO SAY OTHERS MY NOT.
JUST ENTERED FREEWAY ON-RAMP AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WHEN POWER INSTANTLY CEASED AND CAR COASTED. DASHBOARD INDICATED "STOP SAFELY NOW" AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE. STEERING AND BRAKES WERE STILL FUNCTIONING BUT NO RESPONSE AT ALL FROM THE ACCELERATOR. CAR DID NOT RESPOND AT FIRST TO A RESTART. HAD TO TURN CAR OFF, OPEN DOOR, CLOSE DOOR, WAIT FOR DASHBOARD TO GO BLANK AND THEN RESTART TO ACTUALLY MAKE IT GO AGAIN. THIS WAS THE SAME SYMPTOM THAT OCCURRED IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 (AND REPORTED HERE) THAT FORD SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THROUGH RE-CALL. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR, THERE IS NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEM. CAR HAD A STATE OF CHARGE OF 36% AT TIME OF FAILURE. *TR
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN CAR DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. MOTOR LIGHT TURNED ON. WHEN TAKEN TO GET CHECKED,MOTOR LIGHT WAS OFF AND. WAS TOLD OTHERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENS. *TR
AFTER SITTING IN NEUTRAL WAITING FOR CONSTRUCTION TO ALLOW US TO PROCEED, STARTED OUT AND THEN POWER STEERING WENT OUT. TURNED OFF AT NEXT RED LIGHT AND STARTED AGAIN AND BEGAN WORKING. A FEW MILES LATER STOPPED FOR GAS AND WHEN STARTED VEHICLE, NO POWER STEERING AND IS STILL OUT. *TR
MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP ABOUT 4X'S IN 1 MONTH. ISSUE BEGAN DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH. WENT TO ACCELERATE FELT A SUDDEN JERK & NOTHING. LOOK DOWN TO SEE MY DRIVE LIGHT FLASHING & AM STEADILY DECREASING IN SPEED WITH NO WAY TO ACCELERATE, LIKE IN NEUTRAL. I LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHICH BEGAN TO FLASH. ACCELERATED A COUPLE TIMES TO BE SURE IT RESPONDED BEFORE DRIVING BUT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. DRIVING AGAIN, ABOUT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, NOT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD, SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME PUT IT IN PARK, ACCELERATED & NOTHING. SHUT OFF MY CAR TO RESET IT & MY CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON. AFTER WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK, THE CAR WOULD JUST NOT TURN ON, EVERYTHING RELATED TO THE BATTERY WOULD TURN ON BUT THE CAR DIDN'T. IN THE SHOP THIS 1ST TIME A TOTAL OF 3 DAYS, STILL UNSURE ABOUT IT BEING FIXED (BECAUSE THEY JUST FIXED THE "ELECTRICAL" PART, NOT THE ISSUE) LO & BEHOLD WHEN I TURNED INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD SAME THING HAPPENED (DRIVE LIGHT FLASHED & ACCELERATOR DIDN'T RESPOND). I GET HOME TO PARK & TURN ON MY CAR, AFTER ATTEMPTING TO TURN IT BACK ON, NOTHING. ANOTHER TOW TRUCK CAME THE NEXT MORNING TO GET IT, THIS TIME MY CAR WAS THERE 7 DAYS. AFTER 2 DAYS OF DRIVING THE SAME THING HAPPENED I WAS ON A HILL ALMOST BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER CAR UNTIL I PUT IT INTO P & PULLED THE E BREAK. CAR WENT IN THEY STATED THAT THEY FIGURED IT OUT & I HOPED 3RD X'S THE CHARM. NOPE, I WAS ON A HIGHWAY HAD TO PULL OVER AWAY FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC DECREASE THE RISK OF ME BEING HIT. 9 DAYS IN THE SHOP AFTER ORDERING A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FOR MY CAR & REPLACING IT, IT WORKS. ALTHOUGH I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT THE SAME THING IS NOW HAPPENING TO A FRIEND WITH A 2013 FORD FOCUS. IT'S SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE LOOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING & SCARY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PCM FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY DPS6 TRANSMISSION. THE CLUTCHES IN IT HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND IT'S SLIPPING BADLY, AGAIN. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED, AND WHEN IT DID, I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO MOVE MY VEHICLE. I NO LONGER HAVE WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AND I'M STUCK WITH AN UNSAFE LEMON. THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO FAIL, EVEN AFTER THE CLUTCHES ARE REPLACED, BECAUSE IT IS A FLAWED DESIGN THAT WON'T WORK PROPERLY. I'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR APPROX. 50K MILES, EACH TIME THE CLUTCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, UNTIL IT STARTS SLIPPING BADLY, AGAIN. EVEN WHEN THE CLUTCHES AREN'T SLIPPING BADLY, THE CAR DOES NOT OPERATE AS IT SHOULD. I'VE ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN TRAFFIC COLLISIONS MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE OF IT, AND FORD STILL REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR FLAWED PRODUCT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE TCM, BUT NOT FOR THE TRANSMISSION. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE FOR FORD TO NOT TAKE COMPLETE OWNERSHIP OF THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND I APPEAL TO YOU FOR ASSISTANCE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, GOING ABOUT 40-50 MPH ON A SUNNY, HOT DAY IN JULY, THE TRACTION CONTROL SUDDENLY TURNED ON AND THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE. I FOUND IT ODD AS THE WEATHER WAS NOT INCLEMENT AND I HAD NOT HIT A POTHOLE SO I PULLED OVER SINCE THE CAR WAS AUTOMATICALLY SLOWING DOWN. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AS THERE WERE PLENTY OF CARS AROUND AND THIS WAS LESS THAN HALF A MILE FROM THE HIGHWAY THAT I WAS ABOUT TO TRAVEL. AFTER PULLING OVER, I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO TRY TO CLEAR THE TRACTION CONTROL AS IT SEEMED TO BE STUCK ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON (THE ENGINE WAS NOT TURNING ON THOUGH THE BATTERY WAS FINE). AFTER CALLING THE FORD AUTO CLUB AND HAVING HELP COME OUT, THE CAR GOT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE ISSUE TURNED OUT TO BE WITH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE THAT WAS COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO RECALIBRATED THE TCM BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
TOTAL UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER STEERING. UNABLE TO SAFELY STEER VEHICLE. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER STOPPING AND RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF AND NORMAL STEERING WAS POSSIBLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE TO DATE.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED ON JUNE 25, 2014. ON JUNE 28, 2014 WHILE I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE CAR SEEMED TO SLIP OUT OF DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR. I STARTED EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH MY FOCUS AFTER WHAT WOULD NORMALLY BE CONSIDERED THE END OF THE BREAK IN PERIOD, WHICH WAS AROUND 8,000 MILES. THE CAR WOULD STALL, SHUDDER, AND SHAKE DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP, AT LOW SPEED DRIVING, AND GOT NOTABLY WORSE THE LONGER I DROVE ESPECIALLY ON HOT/HUMID DAYS. I FOLLOWED THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AS OUTLINED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND EACH TIME I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR MAINTENANCE I DISCUSSED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION WITH SERVICE PERSONNEL AND RECEIVED THE "CORPORATE" ANSWER EACH TIME "YOUR TRANSMISSION IS OPERATING WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS", THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO AT THIS TIME. I HAD TO COME TO A STOP ON TRAFFIC IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE DUE TO TRAFFIC AT A POINT WHERE THERE WAS MOVING TRAFFIC IN LANES ON EITHER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I SHUT MY ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND TRIED AGAIN. THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER BEING STOPPED AND UNABLE TO MOVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO RE-ENGAGE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO THE DEALER AS IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR A WEEK. AS SOON AS I GOT MY CAR BACK, I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MILES, AND THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN, BUT THANKFULLY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND NOT IN ANY HEAVY TRAFFIC AS I WAS WITH THE FIRST INCIDENT. EASTBOUND ON US 62 HIGHWAY IN TAHLEQUAH, OK WHEN A VEHICLE RAN THE RED LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION OF SOUTH PARK HILL ROAD RESULTING IN A COLLISION. OUR FOCUS WAS IMPACTED ON THE RIGHT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY (NEITHER FRONT NOR SIDE). ESTIMATED SPEED AT TIME OF IMPACT WAS 40 MPH FOR OUR FOCUS, 35 - 50 MPH FOR THE OTHER VEHICLE. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2012 FORD FOCUS LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND HAVE HAD TROUBLE EVER SINCE. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN REPAIRED ONCE FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES ACCELERATING AND COASTING. MY CAR IS SHAKING AND HESITATING WITH ANY TYPE OF ACCELERATION. THE CAR IS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING, TURNING CORNERS AND BRAKING. I AM BEYOND DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE 2012 FOCUS. I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE DEALER AND WANTED IT LOOKED ASAP. I ALSO CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY ABOUT MY CONCERNS, THEY INFORMED ME ABOUT THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AS A REASON FOR THE DRIVE (AN EXCUSE I HAVE HEARD NUMEROUS TIMES FROM THE DEALER). AFTER A COUPLE DAYS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THEY HAD LOOKED IT OVER AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. THEY LATER TEST DROVE IT AND HE INFORMED ME THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GREAT AND THAT THE WAY MY CAR IS DRIVING IS JUST THE WAY THESE FOCUS' DRIVE DUE TO THE DOUBLE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. HE INFORMED ME THAT IT TENDS TO DRIVE THE WAY I WAS DESCRIBING IF PEOPLE HAVE A "LIGHT FOOT", IF I WOULD DRIVE WITH A "HEAVIER FOOT" OR "ACCELERATE FASTER" IT MOST LIKELY WOULDN'T HAVE THESE ISSUES. WHEN I BROUGHT UP THE INSTANCE WHERE THE CAR SHOOK AND MADE A LARGE CLUNK WHEN I TURNED IT OFF, HE STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A "FLUKE". IT IS VERY DISCOURAGING THAT I AM TOLD THAT THIS IS JUST HOW THE FOCUS VEHICLES ARE GOING TO BE. I EMAILED FORD ABOUT THE RESULTS AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. I PICKED UP MY CAR AND IT STILL DRIVES JERKY AND THE CLUNKING NOISE IS EVEN LOUDER. I DROPPED IT OFF WITH 40,618 MILES AND PICKED IT UP WITH 40,630 MILES. I THINK IT IS FRUSTRATING THAT IT IS DEEMED AS A STANDARD DRIVE WITH A 12 MILE TRIP. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT I AM EXPECTED TO HIT THE GAS HARDER TO HOPEFULLY HAVE A SOMEWHAT LESS JERKY DRIVE... NOT SURE HOW TO DO THAT IN PARKING LOTS AND NEIGHBORHOODS. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I HAVE A SAFE QUALITY VEHICLE AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT. *JS
WHEN EXITING GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, AS WE PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION/DRIVE TRAIN POWER, WHILE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS STARTED TO FLASH, AND ELECTRONIC GEAR INDICATOR TRANSITIONED FROM GEAR TO GEAR. RPMS, WERE STILL REGISTERING AND ON ACCELERATION, DRIVE TRAIN WAS UNRESPONSIVE. THIS HAPPENED ALL WHILE IN TRAFFIC, WHEN ONCOMING VEHICLES WERE APPROACHING. WE TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND MOVED TO THE ROAD SHOULDER. POWERED OFF CAR FOR A MINUTE, THEN RESTARTED. CAR STARTED BUT STILL EXPERIENCED SEVERE HESITATION ON ACCELERATION, AND SEEMED AS IF IT WAS STRUGGLING TO STAY ON. PULLED ONTO A SIDE STREET TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC, THEN AFTER TURNING CAR OFF, IT WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. AFTER APPROX. 10 MINUTES, TRIED TO TURN ON CAR AGAIN, AND IT STARTED. WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE CAR HOME, HOWEVER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOW BEEN ILLUMINATED. THIS WILL BE THE 5TH INSTANCE (ALL INSTANCES DOCUMENTED BY DEALER, AND SERVICED BY DEALER) THAT THE CAR HAS HAD THIS ISSUE, AND WE HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP, WITH NO 100% REMEDY BEING GIVEN. WILL BE TAKING CAR IN ONCE AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND HOPEFULLY RESOLUTION OF THIS ONGOING ISSUE OF HESITATION ON ACCELERATION, AND TOTAL FAILURE OF DRIVE TRAIN DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. *TR
