MY FIRST ENCOUNTER STARTED IN MARCH WITH A WARNING CONDITION INDICATING A DEFAULT IN MY STEERING ASSISTANCE ONLY WHEN I WOULD TURN ON THE IGNITION, I CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD GO AWAY BY TURNING OF THE IGNITION AND TURNING IT BACK ON.,AND IT DID GO AWAY. NOW IN AUGUST, I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A SAFE STOP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THAT WAS THE MOST SCARIEST FOR ME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. GOD WAS WITH ME.. *TR
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME. ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. LUCKILY A TOW DRIVER WAS BY ME AND HE WAS ABLE TO STEER TRAFFIC AWAY FROM ME AND HE HELPED ME MOVE MY CAR TO SAFETY. *TR
CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND BOG DOWN AS I MOVED FORWARD. THEN SLIPPED GOING INTO 2ND. WHEN GIVEN A GOOD AMOUNT OF GAS THE CAR HESITATED AND SLAMMED INTO GEAR. *TR
THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON 1-95 IN NEW JERSEY AT RUSH HOUR . I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY, RESUMED DRIVING AND THE CAR REPEATED THIS OVER THE NEXT DAY. AFTER A SERVICE BY A FORD DEALER, THE CAR RAN SMOOTHLY FOR 10 MILES THEN THE PROBLEM RE OCCURRED AND ENGINE LIGHT WENT BACK ON. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. DEFINITELY WAS NOT FIXED. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE CONSTANT SPUTTERING AND CHUGGING WHEN I ACCELERATE. BUT COMING TO A DEAD STOP ON I95 IN NEW JERSEY TRAFFIC WAS TERRIFYING. *TR
HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHAKING, SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY, AND BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 40-35 MPH. I WOULD ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE AND IT WOULD OPERATE AS THOUGH IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN KICK IN AND REV UP TO 6-7000 RPM AND STILL NOT ACCELERATE. THEN IT WOULD FINALLY FEEL AS THOUGH IT HAD DOWNSHIFTED BUT WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 40 MPH. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. THEY APPLIED THE LATEST COMPUTER UPDATES AND CHECKED FLUIDS. THEY TOLD ME THE VEHICLE HAD A SHIFTING FORK CODE (DCT), AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED- YET THE VEHICLE WORKED FINE AFTER THE COMPUTER WAS UPDATED. IF THERE WAS A SHIFTING FORK ISSUE, THEN IT WOULDN'T MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AFTER A COMPUTER UPDATE AND COME RIGHT BACK. THE VEHICLE OPERATED FINE FOR SEVERAL HOURS WITH NO ISSUES. THEN I FELT THE TRANSMISSION 'HITCH', AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. I WAS LITERALLY 2 BLOCKS FROM THE SAME DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO EARLIER THAT DAY, SO I TOOK IT BACK IN. THEY SAID THE SAME CODES APPEARED, BUT THAT THEY WOULD ATTEMPT THE COMPUTER UPDATE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE AGAIN SEEMED TO WORK FINE. THEN I WAS DRIVING ON A BACKROAD HIGHWAY DUE TO MY FEAR OF THE VEHICLE ACTING UP WHILE ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY AND HAVING MY SMALL CHILDREN WITH ME. THE CAR AGAIN ACTED UP AND WENT FROM 65 TO 35 RAPIDLY AND REFUSING TO ACCELERATE AND ACTING AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD OCCASIONALLY CATCH, BUT WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 35 MPH IN A 65 MPH AREA. THIS COULD CAUSE A POTENTIALLY FATAL ACCIDENT, AND I CANT HELP BUT WONDER IF THERE AREN'T ANY FATAL ACCIDENTS THAT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THIS. I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS REPORT THE SAME EXACT ISSUE I HAVE. *TR
ON AUGUST 24TH, WHEN DRIVING ON A MAJOR HOUSTON HIGHWAY AT 64MPH, I LOST ALL DRIVE-TRAIN POWER. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DRIVE STATUS INDICATOR IMMEDIATELY STARTED BLINKING, AND I HAD NO RESPONSE FROM MY THROTTLE. I WAS SIMPLY COASTING. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY TAKE AN EXIT RAMP AND PULL INTO A RELATIVELY SAFE LOCATION OFF THE MAJOR HIGHWAY. I WAITED SOME TIME WITH THE CAR SHUT OFF, AND AFTER STARTING IT BACK UP, THE CEL CLEARED ITSELF AND CAR WAS FUNCTIONAL AGAIN AFTER LEAVING MY CAR AT TOMBALL FORD FOR A WEEK, THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, AND FOUND NO RECORD OF THE CEL IN THE SYSTEM. I WAS FORCED TO PICK THE CAR BACK UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, AND UPON REPEATED INQUIRIES FROM MY WIFE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS WOULD NOT TELL HER IT WAS SAFE. ON SEPTEMBER 7TH, ONLY A FEW SHORT DAYS AFTER PICKING THE CAR BACK UP, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN DURING BUSY WEEKEND TRAFFIC WITH MY PREGNANT WIFE AND BABY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE, AS THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED (IT WAS A SUNDAY). UPON STARTING THE CAR LATER THAT DAY IN MY DRIVEWAY, THE CEL AGAIN, CLEARED ITSELF. I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, AND THE SERVICE ADVISER INFORMED ME, THAT ONCE AGAIN, THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THIS CAR HAS NOW SHUT-DOWN TWICE ON ME, WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR, ON VERY BUSY HOUSTON HIGHWAYS. I FEEL INCREDIBLY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, AND QUESTION MY DEALERSHIP'S ABILITY TO FIX THE ISSUE AFTER THEY WILLINGLY ADMITTED THEY'VE "NEVER SEEN THIS FAILURE BEFORE." OUR 2012 FORD FOCUS SHUT OFF AT 70 MPH, WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY LOSING PWR STR, PWR BRK, & ILLUMINATING ALL INST PANEL ICONS AS IN (KEY ON-ENG OFF). THEN WHILE COASTING TO COMPLETE STOP, CAR RETURNED TO NORMAL OPS & WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY, NEVER TOUCHING THE IGN KEY SWITCH. FORD DEALER CLEARED MULTIPLE CODES, WHICH THEY WOULD NOT REVEAL. THEY DID TELL ME THERE WAS A PCM COMMUNICATION FAILURE IN HISTORY, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY REASON FOR IT. THEY ALSO PERFORMED MULTIPOINT INSPECTION, WITH NO ISSUES FOUND. 1 MONTH PRIOR TO INCIDENT THE AUTOMATIC CLUTCH-OIL SEAL RECALL WAS PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY. (CLUTCH & INNER INPUT SHAFT SEAL WAS REPLACED). CAR HAS BEEN OK SINCE. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO NEUTRAL GEAR. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING SOUND FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE BEFORE THE VEHICLE WENT BACK INTO GEAR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIR AND SERVICE UPDATES WERE PERFORMED FOR THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. ..UPDATED 10/15/14 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. UPDATED 4/1/2015 *JS
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FAILED TO LATCH CLOSED. PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE IN INVENTORY. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE PART WAS NOT UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY AND NO SAFETY RECALL ISSUED. THREE WEEKS LATER REAR DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE FAILED. DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. CAR IS AT DEALER AWAITING REPAIRS. WE WERE GIVEN THE SAME INFORMATION, THE PARTS ARE NOT UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING FROM THE ROUTE 128 HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP ONTO THE INTERSTATE 95 GOING APPROXIMATELY 50-55 MPH, AS I ROUNDED THE TOP OF THE RAMP I WENT TO ACCELERATE ONTO I-95 WHEN I FOUND I WAS SLOWING IN SPEED/DECELERATING AND FOUND THAT I HAD NO PICK UP WITH THE VEHICLE. I WAS ACTUALLY COASTING ,THE ENGINE APPEARED TO BE ON BUT I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. AS I COASTED TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ON. I SAT AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-7 MINUTES, THE CAR DID RE-START. DUE TO WHAT APPEARED TO BE A DANGEROUS SPOT ON THE HIGHWAY I ATTEMPTED TO CONTINUE DRIVING TOWARDS AN EXIT. APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY ( I TRAVELED AT 50 MPH IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE) THE CAR AGAIN, STOPPED ACCELERATING WAS DECELERATING, I WAS PUMPING THE GAS PETAL WITHOUT SUCCESS AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO RODMAN FORD IN FOXBORO MA. THE SERVICE ADVISOR IS TELLING ME THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. HE ALSO REPORTS EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ON TWICE THEIR IS NO INDICATION OF THE COMPUTER REGISTERING ANY TYPE OF FAILURE. *TR
2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR VEHICLE RECALL REPAIRS. *LD *JS
I TURNED ONTO A TWO LANE STREET (ONE LANE IN EACH DIRECTION). THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED DUE A RED LIGHT. AN SUV PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT BETWEEN TWO OF THE CARS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND TRIED TO CUT ACROSS MY LANE ALSO, BUT HIT MY CAR INSTEAD. I DRIVE A FORD FOCUS, A SMALL CAR. I WAS HIT ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT FENDER AND DOOR. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FENDER AND MIRROR WERE TORN COMPLETELY OFF OF THE CAR. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS DAMAGED, AND SOMETHING WAS BENT, SO THAT THE TIRE COULD NO LONGER BE SET IN A STRAIGHT POSITION. THE HOOD WAS BENT, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS HANGING FROM THE CAR. THE INTERIOR PORTION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FOOT WELL CAVED INWARD AND HIT MY LEGS. THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS HIT SO HARD THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, AND I HAD TO UNTANGLE MY FEET, AND EXIT THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. MY TINY CAR WAS HIT BY AN SUV THAT HAD "PUNCHED" THE GAS TO TRY AND CROSS IN FRONT OF ME- BUT HIT MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR INSTEAD. THERE WAS A GREAT DEAL OF DAMAGE DONE TO MY CAR, BUT MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. I'VE HEARD OF AIRBAGS GOING OFF WHEN SOMEONE BARELY HIT SOMETHING WITH THEIR BUMPER, YET I GOT HIT DIRECTLY IN MY DOOR, AT A DECENT RATE OF SPEED BY AN AUTOMOBILE TWICE THE SIZE OF MINE, AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NOT MY FRONT AIRBAG, NOR MY SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THIS IS SOME TYPE OF DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE REAR ASSIST MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THIS YEAR VEHICLE YEAR HAS A TRANSMISSION SURGE PROBLEM. FORD FOCUS 2012. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WILL SURGE, BUCKING, SCARING ME ALMOST TO LOSING CONTROL. DEALERSHIP DID NOT ADVISE ME BEFORE I BOUGHT. WILL DO NOTHING TO HELP. DETROIT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY, BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP ME DRIVING IT. MY OPINION UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. I BOUGHT THIS IN FEB. 2014 WITH 34,000 MILES ON IT. I NEED PERRY FORD SAN LUIS OBISPO TO TAKE IT BACK. IT CAN NOT BE FIXED. I SEE 459 COMPLAINTS ON THIS. HOW CAN I GET HELP. I AM A DISABLED SENIOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ACCELERATING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND JERKED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,700.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 - MANUAL 5 SPEED FORD FOCUS DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR LOST POWER. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG, BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE IN 5TH GEAR AT 70MPH THE CAR HAD NO POWER TO PROPEL ITSELF FORWARD, AT THE SAME TIME THE RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AND TURNED OFF. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND ROLL TO A STOP WITHOUT AN INCIDENT. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THERE WAS VERY LITTLE POWER GETTING TO THE CAR, MAXING OUT A SPEED OF 50MPH ON THE FREEWAY SO AS NOT TO STALL AGAIN, MADE FOR A SCARY RIDE HOME. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE OWNING THE CAR, WHICH I PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND NOW HAS 49,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE PREVIOUS 2 TIMES, I TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN FIND WRONG WITH IT. NOW I AM ACTIVE ON A FORD FOCUS FORUM BECAUSE IT SEEMS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON OUT THERE WITH THIS ISSUE. FORD NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER BEFORE THEY HAVE AN INJURY LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT POWER WINDOW MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE, I'D SAY 10 MPH. IT TENDS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS WARMER OUT AND THE A/C IS ON. I HAVE FOUND THAT IF THE SHIFTER IS PUT INTO "SPORT MODE" AND I MANUALLY SHIFT FROM FIRST IT WON'T DO IT. THIS IS MY GF'S CAR AND SHE WILL NOT USE THE "SPORT MODE". THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL PROBABLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A RURAL HIGHWAY FROM A STOP SIGN, MY CAR HESITATED BETWEEN 2-3 SECONDS AFTER MOVING PARTWAY INTO THE INTERSECTION. THE FEEL WAS DISTINCTLY LIKE CLUTCH SLIPPAGE, AND THE CAR REFUSED TO MOVE FORWARD DESPITE ME APPLYING ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER ALMOST 2 SECONDS OF VERY SLOWLY (2-3 MPH) CRAWLING INTO THE INTERSECTION THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED ABRUPTLY AND I RESUMED MOVING INTO MY LANE. I FREQUENTLY EXPERIENCE THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM, DESPITE TWO DEALERS OVER 4 TRIPS ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR IT, AND HAVE A GOOD FEEL FOR HOW TO MODULATE THE THROTTLE TO WORK THROUGH THE STALL. HOWEVER, THIS TIME IT NEARLY RESULTED IN ME BEING T-BONED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BY AN 18-WHEELER TRAVELING 55 MPH. FORTUNATELY THE TRUCK WAS ABLE TO BYPASS ME IN HIS LEFT LANE. I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR MY FIFTH TRIP, THIS TIME HOPEFULLY TO RECEIVE CLUTCH REVISION "F" AND TRANSMISSION SHAFT SEAL "D". WHY THE CARS BUILT WITH THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION HAVEN'T YET BEEN RECALLED IS A MYSTERY TO ME. I CAN ONLY GUESS THAT (HOPEFULLY) NO ONE HAS DIED WHEN FACED WITH A CIRCUMSTANCE SIMILAR TO MINE. *TR
THE CAR GOES INTO NEAUTRAL WITH NO WARNING LOOSE ALL POWER AND THREE MONTHS LATER IT DOES NOT GO INTO REVERSE AND LOST GEARS WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET SOMEONE GOING TO GET HURT THIS CAR NEEDS A RECALL ON TRANSMISSION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT BAD THERE IS SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON TRANSMISSION. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS A PRETTY SIGNIFICANT ENGINE SHUDDER AS WELL AS A RATTLING NOISE BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND AND SECOND AND THIRD GEARS. VEHICLE AT TIMES FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN ALL INTERSECTIONS AND THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING HEAVY DOWNPOUR. IT WAS NOT FUSES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
MY 2012 FOCUS SHUTTERS ALOT AND DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT . I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER IN AUG 2014. THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCHES AND SEALS ECT.5 MONTHS LATER WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE IT SHUT DOWN AND THE DASH READ TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED FOR 3 HOURS ALONG A BUSY INTERSTATE. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE ABOUT THIS PLEASE? *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN FIVE TIMES BEFORE NOTIFICATION OF THE MANUFACTURERS RECALLS AND THEY HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE AND PROVIDE A REPAIR SOLUTION AFTER SEVERAL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE CLUTCH FAILING TO CHANGE OVER INTO THIRD GEAR AND THE VEHICLE HAD A STRONG HESITATION. THE VEHICLE ALSO RANDOMLY STALLED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE AC COMPRESSOR IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS BLEW UP TODAY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME IT HAD BEEN COMING APART FOR A WHILE AND IT HAS NOW DESTROYED THE ENTIRE AC SYSTEM. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ISOLATED TO MY AC. EVEN IF I WANTED TO DRIVE SANS AC, THEN THIS ISSUE WOULD SOON RENDER MY CAR INOPERABLE. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW BAD THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY. UNFORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS INDICATING THIS PENDING DISASTER (A/C FUNCTIONING & NO WEIRD NOISES). MY FORD HAS HAD ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES AND ANY ADDITIONAL PREVENTATIVE SERVICES RELATED TO THE AC COMPRESSOR WERE NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. THIS IS MOST LIKELY BECAUSE A PROBLEM OF THIS NATURE SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE WITH A WELL MAINTAINED CAR THAT IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD; HOWEVER, POSSIBLY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SHOULD HAVE PICKED UP ON IT. I WAS LEAVING FROM THE BP GAS STATION FROM WAYNE SULLIVAN DR IN PADUCAH, KY I HAD DROVE FROM LEDBETTER WHICH IS 10 MINS OUTSIDE OF PADUCAH AND WHEN I STARTED MY CAR TO LEAVE GAS STATION PULLING OUT INTO BUSY INTERSECTION I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN 10MPH WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND MY 5 YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE CAR WITH ME. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON CAME ON. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLAMMING INTO EVERY GEAR. I WAS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR REVVING AT APPROXIMATELY 3500 RPM GOING 30 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME. THE DAY AFTER I TOOK INTO SPIKES FORD WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS THEN FIXED ON 08-11-14. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND DROVE HOME. 2 HOURS LATER AS I'M ENTERING A HIGHWAY TO GO TO WAL-MART, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD, RPM'S FLEW WAY ABOVE 6000 AND CAR SPED UP FOR A SECOND THEN SLOWLY DECLINED DOWN TO 30 ON THE HIGHWAY!! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FELT THE PROBLEM SO THEY TOOK THE CAR YET AGAIN. NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY FIXED IT. I TOOK IT TO BOGGUS FORD AND WITHIN 3 DAYS THE CAR WAS OUT FROM THE SHOP. ALL WAS WELL UNTIL LATER ON IN THE NIGHT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT ONCE LAST TIME FURIOUS ALREADY WITH THE CAR AND ONCE AGAIN SAID IT WAS FIXED. I DROVE TO SCHOOL AND AS I WAS FINDING A PARKING SPOT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RIGHT AFTER, A MESSAGE SAID, "TRANSMISSION HOT" PULL OVER SAFELY. ANOTHER MESSAGE CAME ON AND SAID, "WAIT 7 MINUTES". EMBARRASSED THAT MY BRAND NEW FOCUS WAS DOING THIS I LET IT COOL OFF. A SALESMAN WE WORKED WITH, WAS KIND ENOUGH TO PICK UP MY CAR AND I FROM SCHOOL. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE WE THEN TALKED TO A SERVICE MANAGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER, LAUGHED ABOUT OUR SITUATION AND SAID AS LONG AS WE DRIVE SLOWLY THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO HEAT UP AND SAID THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS. I TOLD HIM, I ALMOST RAN OVER OTHER STUDENTS, AND HE JUST CONTINUED TO SAY AS LONG AS YOU DRIVE SLOWLY, IT WILL KEEP DOING THAT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF NOW, BUT TRANSMISSION STILL SHIFTS HARD. *TR
IN AUGUST 2012 I WENT TO CLOSE MY DRIVERS DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. THE SAFETY LATCH HAD BROKEN IN THE OPEN POSITION AND MY DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AT ALL. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE LATCH UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEN ON FEBRUARY 27 2016 MY DAUGHTER WENT TO CLOSE THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED WITH ROPES TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED. BOTH TIMES THE CAR WAS PARKED. BUT AGAIN IT WAS THE DOOR SAFETY LATCH THAT FAILED AND BROKE IN THE OPEN POSITION. 50% OF THE DOOR LATCHES ON THIS CAR HAVE NOW FAILED. I KNOW THERE'S AN INVESTIGATION ONGOING ABOUT THE DOOR LATCHES FROM FORD, AND THAT MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. TODAY, MARCH 1 2016 FORD DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. THEY HAVE YET TO DECIDED IF THEY WILL COVER THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT PART AND LABOR. IT'S MY PERSONAL BELIEF THAT THE REMAINING 2 LATCHES ON THE REAR DOORS WILL FAIL IN TIME. IT'S MY BELIEF THAT FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL 4 SAFETY DOOR LATCHES.
ON THE FREEWAY ACCELERATING SLIGHTLY WHILE MERGING INTO THE LEFTMOST LANE. POWER SUDDENLY WAS LOST WITH A "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE ON THE DASH. THE FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THESE CIRCUMSTANCES AND HE TOO FOUND HIMSELF WITHOUT GEARS; HE WAS ON THE FREEWAY ON-RAMP AND WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE HIT. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS IF YOU ARE IN 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC GOING 60 MPH!!! NOTWITHSTANDING THE SEVERITY OF THIS "MODULE" DEFECT, THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO FORD DOES NOT COME UNDER THE 'TRANSMISSION RECALL' AND MY CAR IS 3,500 MILES OVER THE MAGICAL 60,000 POWER-TRAIN RECALL. LAST SPRING OF 2014, MY CAR STARTED SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY AS I REVERSED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVEWAY AT HOME. IN AUGUST 2014, I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT LISTED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS VEHICLE. AFTER RECEIVING THIS NOTICE, I CALLED SEEYLE FORD TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER THAT HAS NOT BEEN WORKING PROPERLY EITHER FROM PREVIOUS WINTER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SEEYLE FORD TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED, REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE DONE. AFTER RETURNING TO SEEYLE FORD, THE RUSHED AND THROWN THE PAPERWORK FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO THE CASHIER WITHOUT INFORMING MYSELF ABOUT THAT NO REPAIR WAS DONE TO THE TRANSMISSION OR THE REAR DEFROSTER. HOWEVER, I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS VANDALIZED BY PUNCHERS HOLES IN THE UPHOLSTERY BY THE REAR WINDOW CLOSE TO THE DEFROSTER, WHICH I HAVE NEVER PUNCHERS HOLES SINCE PURCHASING IT. FINALLY, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GALESBURG FORD TO INQUIRE THE SAME ISSUES, HOWEVER, I EXPLANATIONS WAS SIMPLY THANKS FOR THE BUSINESS. ON APRIL 7, 2015, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE REGIONAL MANAGER SALLY BASICALLY SAID 'I CAN TAKE THE VEHICLE SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE FORD WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNLESS IT TOTAL BREAKS DOWN.OR SIMPLY THE COMPANY IS GOING TO DO NOTHING ABOUT THE COMPLAINT. WHILE DRIVING WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED. AT FIRST IT WAS FAST, THEN SLOWED DOWN. WIPERS CONTINUED FOR ALMOST AN HOUR AFTER TURNING OFF ENGINE. LATER WHEN CLICKING ALARM REMOTE TO ENTER DOOR, WIPERS STARTED GOING AGAIN, VARYING SPEEDS AS TIME WENT ON. I NEEDED TO PULL THE RELAY FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOR THE WIPERS TO STOP. *TR
THE VEHICLE DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY SHIFT PROPERLY. IT DOESN'T SHIFT UP WHEN IT SHOULD AND REVS UP BADLY. THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN I GO DOWN LARGE HILLS. IT SHIFTS DOWN AND IT SHOULDN'T, SO THE ENGINE REVS AND I HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL WHEN GOING DOWN HILLS. FURTHER, WHEN I AM PARKED ON A HILL, IT ROLLS BACK A BIT BEFORE STOPPING. LASTLY, THE BLUETOOTH MICROPHONE IS DYING AND SOUNDS TERRIBLE ON THE OTHER END. *TR
DRIVING UP LIGHT INCLINE ON PAVED HIGHWAY WHEN TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FLASHES INDICATING A LOSS OF TRACTION. SECONDS LATER CAR LOSES RESPONSE TO GAS PEDAL, FLASHES "TRANSMISSION SYSTEM FAILURE. SERVICE IMMEDIATELY." AFTER PULLING OVER AWAY FROM TRAFFIC AND POWERING OFF THEN 30 SECOND WAIT AND ON WARNING IS GONE AND FUNCTIONS ARE RESTORED. A WEEK LATER PROBLEM COMES UP AGAIN, THIS TIME ON INTERSTATE GOING 70MPH. CRUISE CONTROL IS SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY, NO POWER TO GAS PEDAL, TRACTION WARNING COMES ON, AND SAME TRANSMISSION WARNING FLASHES. GOES AWAY IN A SECOND OR TWO. PULL OVER AS SAFELY AS I CAN WHILE CUTTING OFF A SEMI-TRUCK, POWER CAR OFF AND ON, ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL. FOUR DAYS LATER PULL OUT OF PARKING SPOT WITH A HESITATION OF VEHICLE TO START, THEN A VIBRATING IN REVERSE. DRIVE AROUND LOT TO EXIT, PULL ONTO MAIN ROAD AND SAME WARNINGS/PROBLEMS AS USUAL HAPPEN. NOW BLOCKING TRAFFIC PERPENDICULAR TO FLOW. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, PUT CAR INTO PARK, TURN OFF, AND BACK ON. TRY TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. WON'T BUDGE. TURN OFF AND ON AGAIN. TRY TO SHIFT AGAIN. NO LUCK. ONE MORE TIME, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, THEN AGAIN. CAR POWERS ON DRIVES TO ANOTHER LOCATION WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THEN TO DEALER WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. DEALER INSPECTS, FINDS FAULTY TCM. DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTES THIS TO MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NOT TO USER ERROR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SLOWLY ON OCCASION. OTHER TIMES, THE RPMS WOULD RACE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER TO INSTALL THE NEW PART AND HAD TO RE-INSTALL THE OLD PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A FOURTH TIME TO HAVE THE NEW PART INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE SENSORS INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED FOR THE BRAKE ASSIST AND PARKING AIDE. IN ADDITION, WHILE MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED INTERMITTENTLY MORE THAN ONCE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CLOCK INTERMITTENTLY SHORTED OUT AND THE TIME DISPLAY WAS INCORRECT. THE DEALER PROVIDED AN INTERIM REMEDY AND SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT TURN OFF THE GPS. THE INTERIM FIX REMEDIED THE FAILURE AS LONG AS THE CONTACT USED THE FEATURE TO DISABLE THE GPS AUTO CLOCK MANUALLY EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
AT FIRST THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT IN REVERSE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. IT THEN STARTED TO ACT UP WHEN I WOULD START THE CAR. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT. NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN GOING AROUND CURVES AND CORNERS. ALSO VERY HARD TO MANEUVER IN PARKING LOTS AROUND PEOPLE AND OTHER CARS. *TR
