AIR BAG LIGHT: OUR CAR WAS PARKED, AND GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. THIS DAMAGED THE FRAME, BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T ENGAGE. AFTER THE MECHANIC FIXED OUR CAR THE AIR BAG LIGHT WON'T GO OFF, AND THE DEALERSHIP HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO CLEAR IT OUT. WE HAVE ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THEM TO FIX IT, AND THEY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG. I DON'T KNOW IF MY AIR BAGS WILL WORK, AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 5 YEARS NOW, AND EVERY TIME I BRING MY CAR IN THE DEALERSHIP IGNORES THE AIR BAG LIGHT.
STOPPED AT STOPLIGHT ON HILL IN COLUMBIA SC. WENT TO MOVE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD, WAS IN DRIVE. TURNED OFF TO SEE IF THAT WOULD WORK, THEN IT WOULDN'T START. THIS WAS ON BUSY ROAD AT NIGHT. DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE SAME COMPLAINTS ALREADY LISTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE WITH TRANSMISSION STUTTERS AND LOSS OF POWER ON ACCELERATION. TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE HAD SHORTED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC VERSION HAS ALREADY RECALLED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS AS A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ALSO. *TR
DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE LOST PRESSURE 2 TWICE IN THE WEEK AS INDICATED BY TPS. THEN THE TIRE LOST ALL AIR OVERNIGHT. TOOK TIRE FOR REPAIR/ DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE BECAUSE IT HAD SIDE WALL LEAK. CLOSE INSPECTION REVEALED SOME STEEL WIRE THAT HAD DISLODGED FROM ITS EMBEDDED POSITION THE SURFACE OF THE TIRE. ALSO NOTICES OTHER AREAS WHERE THE STEEL WIRES WERE STILL EMBEDDED IN THE TIRE BUT ALSO VISIBLE IN SOME AREAS. *TR
THE ENGINE SEEMS TO RACE AT TIMES AND WHILE THE RPM ARE RISING TO CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. ALSO WHEN I AM AT A RED LIGHT IT WILL EITHER SHUTTER OR LURCH FORWARD OCCASIONAL. WHEN I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE DUAL CORE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF THIS WERE TRUE THE FREQUENCY WOULD NOT BE INCREASING AND I WOULD NOT NOTICE IT WHEN I M DRIVING. THANK YOU I HOPE YOU CAN DO SOMETHING TO HELP. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE PARKING AID MALFUNCTION, CHECK ENGINE AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,300.
SEVERE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING, LURCHING, LACK OF POWER AND SPEED CONTROL ESPECIALLY AT RED LIGHTS. ALTHOUGH I HAVE ENTERED THAT IT OCCURRED 12/12/13, IT ACTUALLY HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. WHEN MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR IN, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID "MAYBE YOUR WIFE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE AN AUTOMATIC".
THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES FROM SHUDDERING, STALLING, JERKING, ROLLING BACK, GRINDING, JUMPING FORWARD AND IMPROPER SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES WITH VARIOUS CLUTCHES REPLACED, SOFTWARE INSTALLS AND OTHER PARTS REPLACED. THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUES AND THEY KEEP RECURRING. THIS IS UNSAFE AND HAS EVEN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. LUCKILY, TRAFFIC WAS NOT CLOSE ENOUGH OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I REALLY HOPE FORD DOES RECALL THESE VEHICLES OR GIVES THE UNHAPPY OWNERS A CHANCE TO TURN THE CAR BACK IN THROUGH A VEHICLE BUYBACK PLAN. THERE ARE SO MANY OF THESE COMPLAINTS SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AND THE PCM WAS UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT SEVERAL OTHER PARTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,220.
THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I BELIEVE IT WAS FROM THE COLD WEATHER AFTER USING THE REAR DEFROST. *TR
THE VEHICLE "POPPED" OUT OF GEAR AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE. IT TOOK THE VEHICLE ABOUT 20 SECONDS TO RECOVER. THIS IS THE 4TH OCCURRENCE IN 6 WEEKS. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT TONGUE WOULDN'T GO INTO THE BUCKLE LIKE NORMAL. IT TOOK A LOT OF EFFORT TO SHOVE IT IN, AND HAVE IT ACTUALLY CLICK. THEN SEPARATING THE PARTS OF THE BUCKLE WAS ALSO DIFFICULT. SOMETIMES IT'S EASIER TO GET IT TO WORK, AND OTHER TIMES IT FEELS LIKE I'M HAVING A WRESTLING MATCH. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHEN WE WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER TRAIN, AND THEY TOLD US IT WOULD COST $55 JUST TO LOOK AT IT. THERE IS NOTHING JAMMED INSIDE THE BUCKLE, BUT FEELS MORE LIKE THE INSIDE HOOK ISN'T REACTING CORRECTLY TO THE TONGUE. THERE IS ALSO A FRAYED EDGE TO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE THAT MAKES IT LOOK REALLY CHEAP. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT WITH IT BEING A SAFETY FEATURE THAT IT SHOULDN'T COST US ANYTHING, AND THEY SHOULD BE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY BECAUSE IT MOST LIKELY IS A DEFECTIVE PART THEY ISSUED. I GUESS THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR SAFETY OVER MAKING A QUICK BUCK OFF OF US. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC GLAZE ON THE WINDSHIELD SEPARATED FROM THE GLASS, WHICH CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY. ALSO, WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND MADE A BUCKING MOTION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RECALIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, MY LEFT HAND MIDDLE FINGER WAS SLICED OPEN BY A SILVER TRIM PIECE AROUND THE HORN/RADIO CONTROL AREA. SPECIFICALLY, THE SILVER PIECE IS LIKE A FOIL TYPE COVERING WITH A RAISED EDGE WHICH IS SHARP LIKE A RAZOR BLADE. ONCE I WAS CUT, I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT HAD CUT ME AND I REALIZED IT WAS THE SILVER TRIM. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I WAS ABLE TO PEEL THE SILVER PIECE BACK SINCE IT IS LIKE TIN FOIL AND REMOVE IT. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I NOTICED OTHER AREAS AROUND THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE SILVER PIECE BEING RAISED. FURTHER SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALED THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT. I AM BRINGING MY CAR TO THE DEALER TODAY (11-29-13) TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH 25,000 MILES, SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR BEGAN SHUDDERING VERY BADLY AND DID NOT ACCELERATE CORRECTLY. THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED TO A LOUD METAL GRINDING NOISE, THE CLUTCH WAS DEEMED TO BE BAD AND REPLACED. SIX MONTHS AFTER THE CLUTCH FAILED AGAIN AND WAS REPLACED AND NOW A YEAR LATER THE CLUTCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, MAKING IT THE FOURTH CLUTCH FOR A CAR WITH UNDER 70,000 MILES. FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY SO IT IS COVERED HOWEVER THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR 4-6 WEEKS. FORD DOES NOT OFFER A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE DURING THIS TIME. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS CAR ALSO HAD THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION REPAIRED WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.
THE ALUMINUM TRIM ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHERE THE DRIVER CAN REST HANDS IS SPLINTERING OFF. IT IS SHARP AND JAGGED METAL. IT CUT THREE OF MY FINGERS DEEPLY. FORD WILL NOT WARRANTY THIS EVEN THOUGH MANY MANY OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING OF THE DEFECT. *TR

TURNED CAR OFF CRANKED BACK UP TRANS WORKED AGAIN TOOK TO DEALER IN JACKSON, TN GOLDEN CIRCLE FORD THEY SAID TRANS PCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND WAS FIXED DROVE HOME TODAY 11-22-2013 DID EXACT SAME THING NOT GOOD AND NOT SAFE WHEN YOU LOSE TRANS POWER AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS CAR NOW BACK AT DEALER WAITING TO SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH THIS TIME. I AM A ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND WORK ON VEHICLES FOR A LIVING THIS ONE STILL UNDER 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT HAS SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE PLEASE HELP I APPARENTLY AM NOT ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE APPARENTLY THIS TRANS IS JUNK AND NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT SO SHOULD BE CHANGED TO SOMETHING THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX I DRIVE 145 MILES PER DAY TO AND FROM WORK ALL INTERSTATE THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A PROVEN DEPENDABLE VEHICLE THAT IS WHY I PURCHASED IT ALSO FOR THE GAS MILEAGE WHICH IS GOOD BUT NOW NOT FEELING SO SAFE DRIVING IT. *TR
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT FORD WOULD NEVER ADDRESS! FIRST PROBLEM OCCURRED AT 5,000 MILES WHEN THE CAR WOULD SHUT DOWN BY ITSELF WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER THEN THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WOULD LIGHT UP. WHEN YOU CRANK THE CAR BACK UP IT WAS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND LEFT IT FOR A PERIOD OF 25 DAYS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT ANY PROBLEMS. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS A NORMAL THING. BASICALLY THEY BLEW SMOKE UP MY A** ABOUT IT JUST SO I WOULD STOP HARASSING THEM ABOUT IT. THEY WERE NOT EVEN CONCERNED BY THE FACT THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT IT COULD HAVE PUT MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY. THIS PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED BUT LESS FREQUENTLY.

HAVE HAD ALL THE SERVICE DONE AS PER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAMS FROM FORD. HAVE HAD IT SERVICES FOR TRANSMISSION CHATTER ISSUES AT 46K, 54K, 59K, 77K. AT 59K FORD SERVICE REPLACED CLUTCH WITH "F ASY". CLUTCH WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED AT 30K. DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO SPEED UP TO ENTER TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC CIRCLES, OR AVOID CONTACT WITH OTHER VEHICLES. TURNING CAUSES A GREAT DEAL OF SHIFTING VIBRATIONS. REGULAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MODE IS LAGGING AND UNRESPONSIVE IN NORMAL DRIVING AND LAGGING IN CITY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. FROM STANDSTILL I HAVE HAD THE CAR LURCH AND BUCK FORWARD. ALSO THE CAR ROLLS BACKWARD IN DRIVE ON A HILL. THIS FORD HAD MARKETED AS A FEATURE TO NOT HAPPEN. FORD ANNOUNCED THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION AS " POWERSHIFT WILL DELIVER THE FUEL EFFICIENCY OF A MANUAL GEARBOX WITH THE CONVENIENCE AND EASE OF A PREMIUM AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ' THE ANNOUNCEMENT GOES ON TO SAY "POWERSHIFT PROVIDES THE FULL COMFORT OF AN AUTOMATIC WITH A MORE SOPHISTICATED DRIVING DYNAMIC, THANKS TO UNINTERRUPTED TORQUE FROM THE DUAL-CLUTCH TECHNOLOGY, WHICH CONSISTS ESSENTIALLY OF TWO MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS WORKING IN PARALLEL, EACH WITH ITS OWN INDEPENDENT CLUTCH UNIT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE EVAPORATOR CANISTER PURGE VALVE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK AND VALVE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

AN UNKNOWN TROUBLE CODE WAS DETECTED AND THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO A DEALER. ADDITIONALLY, THE MOTOR MOUNTS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
SPIDERS OR INSECTS BLOCK THE VENTS FROM THE GAS TANK MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FILL MY GAS TANK. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN THE SUMMER OF 2012 AND IT HAPPENED IN THE FALL OF 2012 AND THE FALL OF 2013. *TR

THIS IS AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF STREET. THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED INDICATED I SHOULD "STOP THE VEHICLE NOW". AFTER ABOUT TWO MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO START THE SYSTEM AGAIN AND DRIVE AWAY. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL BACKWARD WHENEVER STOPPED ON AN INCLINE AND WOULD BEGIN SHAKING, CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
IN OCTOBER 2013, MY CAR STARTED SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP, GOING AROUND CORNERS AND GOING UP HILLS. ON OCT. 22, 2013, I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND IT WAS DETERMINED I NEEDED A NEW CLUTCH. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM HAPPENING AT THE TIME WITH MY MAKE/MODEL. THE CAR WAS "REPAIRED" AND IT DID NOT SHUDDER UNTIL ALMOST EXACTLY A YEAR LATER IN OCTOBER 2014. THE SHUDDERING WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS PREVIOUSLY - SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP, GOING AROUND CORNERS AND GOING UP HILLS. I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON MARCH 25, 2015 AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR REPAIRS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT SINCE SO MANY FORD OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM, THEY ARE BOOKED SOLID AND CANNOT DO MY REPAIR UNTIL MIDDLE OF JUNE 2015 (3 MONTHS FROM TIME OF DIAGNOSTICS). *TR
"STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 30MPH AND SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOPLIGHT. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHILE MESSAGE WAS LIT. THE CAR HAD 88% CHARGE, AND WAS CHARGING 5MIN PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. TRYING TO RESTART THE CAR WAS UNSUCCESSFULLY AT FIRST, BUT I TURNED THE CAR OFF, OPENED A DOOR, CLOSED IT, THEN IT RESTARTED AFTER THAT. I WAS STUCK FOR ABOUT 3 OR 4 MINUTES. *TR
STARTING UP FROM WAITING AT A SIGNAL LIGHT THE SYSTEM FLASHED "STOP SAFELY NOW". (I HAD JUST TOUCHED THE DISPLAY SCREEN TO VIEW THE BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE - NORMAL.) PROCEEDING THROUGH A LEFT TURN AND WHEN GETTING TO THE CURB THE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN PROVIDING NO MOTIVE POWER. AT THAT POINT A COMPLETE TURN OFF OF THE CAR WAS ATTEMPTED WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN, THE DASH DISPLAY WAS STILL ACTIVE. REPEATED ATTEMPTS FINALLY COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN THE SYSTEM, WHICH WAS THEN STARTED NORMALLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY BRIDGE, THE FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC STALLED. THE DASHBOARD SHOWS A SIGN "STOP SAFELY NOW" AND THEN A PICTURE OF A YELLOW WRENCH. I HAD TO STOP AT THE HIGHWAY'S SHOULDER. VERY VERY DANGEROUS. VERY UNSAFE. I TRIED TO START THE CAR. IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER 45 MINUTES, WHEN ALL THE ELECTRICAL LIGHT INDICATORS ON THE DASHBOARD SHOWED BLACK, I PUSHED THE START BUTTON AGAIN, AND IT STARTED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I HEARD IN THE ONLINE FORUM THAT "CAR STALLED SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING" WAS COMMON RECENTLY. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS URGENTLY. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS, JUMPS, MAKES RATTLING NOISE. DEALER REPROGRAMMED IT IN OCT. 2013. DID BETTER FOR A WHILE. NOW IT IS WORSE, AND MAKES A RATTLING NOISE UPON ACCELERATION. TOOK IN ON MARCH 15TH, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL. IT PERFORMED OK THE FIRST YEAR. NOW IT IS GETTING WORSE. *TR
PULLING ON TO A MAIN STREET IN THE RAIN, WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE MOVE ALONG WITH THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC THE WHEELS STARTED SPINNING AND THE CAR STARTED A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND LURCHING. I WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR QUICKLY TO AVOID LOSING CONTROL. TRAFFIC HAD TO SWERVE AROUND ME TO AVOID A COLLISION. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PULL INTO A FREEWAY ON RAMP TURN LANE, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED. IT KEPT DOING THIS OVER THE COURSE OF 3 MONTHS ON AND OFF WHEN WE WOULD DRIVE AT SLOWER SPEEDS. WE TOOK IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID IT WAS A COMPUTER REPROGRAMMING ISSUE. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER TODAY, BUT I'M EXTREMELY DOUBTFUL THAT IT'S GOING TO FIX THIS BASED OFF OF WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE STATED HAPPENED TO THEM. THEY JERKED AROUND WITH US AND TOLD US THAT IT WAS IN WARRANTY FOR THE POWER TRAIN, BUT IF IT WAS ANYTHING ELSE WE WOULD OWE $110 FOR THEM TO JUST LOOK. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN SEPTEMBER 2013, AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT STARTING IN OCTOBER 2013. IT HAD 43,000 MILES ON IT WHEN WE BOUGHT IT, AND HAS ABOUT 47,000 NOW. MY LAST CAR WAS A 2004 HYUNDAI ELANTRA, AND IT HAD VERY FEW PROBLEMS FOR THE 9 YEARS I HAD IT. I ONLY STOPPED DRIVING IT BECAUSE OF A SEMI-TRUCK DRIVER'S ILLEGAL ACTIONS THAT TOTALED IT. TWO FORD MECHANICS AT TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND 1 FORD SERVICE MANAGER HAVE TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKES DO NOT APPEAR TO BE WORKING PROPERLY AND THAT THEY MAY BE UNSAFE; HOWEVER, AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO FORD CORPORATE GOING ALL THE WAY BACK TO WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2013, FORD CLAIMS THAT "EVERYTHING IS NORMAL," IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT TWO OF THEIR OWN TECHNICIANS AND A FORD SERVICE MANAGER STATE OTHERWISE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALWAYS SHIFT OUT OF GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WILL SHUDDER VIOLENTLY WHEN SHIFT EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN WARMED UP. THIS HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHEN COMING TO INTERCEPTIONS OR WHEN TAKE OFF NOT CATCH INTO A GEAR. CURRENTLY THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND REPROGRAMED 3 TIMES, STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES.

TOLD BY FORD CUSTOMER CARE & DEALERSHIP CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE BEFORE BOTH INCIDENTS. CAR REVS UP TO HIGH RPMS FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING.. VERY SCARY. !!!! CAR HAS NOT DRIVEN CORRECT SINCE THE DAY IT LEFT THE DEALERSHIP !!
ON-GOING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER, JERK, CHOKING AT LOWER SPEEDS ESPECIALLY AT ABOUT 15 MPG TO 40 MPG. THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT YET BUT MANY CLOSE CALLS. DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, OR MAKING A TURN FROM A STOPLIGHT, OR IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHERE SPEEDS ARE SLOWER - DRIVING THIS VEHICLE BECOMES AN ISSUE. THERE ARE TIME WHEN THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL PUSHED, IT JERKS AND CHUGS UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION KICKS IN CAUSING A DELAY IN ACCELERATION, OR IT CHOKES AS IF IT WILL DIE ON THE SPOT. THESE ARE ALL OPPORTUNITIES TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR TO BE HIT BECAUSE YOU CANNOT GET YOUR CAR TO MOVE. IN DETROIT TRAFFIC IS BRUTAL - THEY DO NOT STOP FOR ANYTHING. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2012 - I ONLY HAVE 21,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE ( CURRENTLY 10/15/14). I CANNOT TRADE IT IN SINCE THE VEHICLE VALUED SO LOW. I CANNOT SELL IT SINCE NO ONE WILL BUY A VEHICLE THAT DRIVES THE WAY IT DOES. FORD HAS PROVIDED A 7 YR. 100,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION BUT THAT IS OF NO SATISFACTION TO ME. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE WEAR AND TEAR WILL BE AS THE CAR AGES AND SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE OF IT. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE SERIOUSLY ADDRESSED. I HAVE A FORD FOCUS BEV ( BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE), 2012. I CAME OUT FROM WORK AND UNPLUGGED MY CAR FROM THE CHARGING POST AND GOT INTO IT AS USUAL TO GO HOME. I PRESSED THE START BUTTON AND A MECHANICAL WARNING WINDOW CAME UP ON THE DASH. I CLOSED IT AND THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE CAME ON. I CLOSED IT AND THE FIRST MESSAGE CAME BACK AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER, THE LADY THERE CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR ME. THEY SENT A TRUCK TO TOW IT TO A CLOSER DEALER, WHERE IT CURRENTLY SITS. INITIAL DIAGNOSTICS ARE NOT SHOWING A CAUSE. DRIVING ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR, THE CAR CHIMED A WARNING AND FLASHED "STOP SAFELY NOW" ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR LOST SPEED AND I COASTED TO A STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR. THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING WITH CHIME REPEATED EACH TIME I TRIED TO RESTART. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK, HOWEVER, AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 TIMES PREVIOUSLY (VERY SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES). I'VE HAD THE CAR SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES, TELLING THE DEALER OF THIS ISSUE, BUT DESPITE SOFTWARE UPGRADES, A REPLACED 12 VOLT BATTERY, IT'S STILL HAPPENING. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND I SERIOUSLY QUESTION FORD'S ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT AS WELL AS MY SANITY FOR DRIVING THE CAR WITH THIS BEHAVIOR. *TR
CLUTCH QUIT AT APPROX. 26,000MI. THIS WAS PRECEDED BY HEAVY SHUDDERING AND VIBRATIONS (FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS). THE MANUFACTURER, FOMOCO, DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TWO WEEKS AGO BUT WAS UNABLE (OR UNWILLING) TO IMMEDIATELY REPLACE THE PART, PUTTING ME IN A LONG, "BACKORDER" QUEUE. MY PERSONAL FEELING IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL. *TR
TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING, GRINDING AND NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 6-8 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. THE LATEST ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION WAS BASICALLY FEELING LIKE IT WENT OUT OF GEAR AND THE CAR HAD NO POWER. DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND IN TRAFFIC. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUED AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. FROM WHAT I SEE ONLINE THE IS HAPPENING WITH MANY, MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE 2012-2013 FOCUS WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT IF THEY DON'T RECALL THIS CAR OR MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION TO REPLACE THE CURRENT ONE. *JS
