THE TRANSMISSION IS OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT 4 TIMES TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS, BOTH DID REPAIRS THE FIRST TIME IN, WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK WITH SAME ISSUES BOTH DEALERSHIPS SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. THE CAR SHUDDERS, STALLS, THE BRAKES GRIND AND SOMETIMES HAVE TO BE SHOVED TO THE FLOOR TO WORK EVEN GOING AT A SLOW SPEED. THE CAR STALLS UP HILL AT TIMES AND GRINDS AS YOU ACCELERATES. I KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH AN ISSUE WITH A 2012 FOCUS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO ABOVE THE DEALERSHIPS HEAD AND FORCE THEM TO FIX THE ISSUE. MY CAR IS UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY STILL ONLY HAS 22K MILEAGE BUT THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING AFTER ONE TIME, THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND MAKE A LOT OF NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A PART IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS LEAVE AN APPOINTMENT WHEN I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AT AN INTERSECTION. I STOPPED SHORT OF THE FADED WHITE LINE ON THE ROAD BUT A LITTLE PAST THE POSITION IN WHICH THE STOP SIGN WAS POSTED SO I ASSUMED I WOULD BE GOOD TO GO FROM THIS SPOT. I THEN LOOKED BOTH WAYS DID NOT SEE ANY ON COMING TRAFFIC FROM EITHER DIRECTION SO I PROCEEDED TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION. IT WASN'T UNTIL I WAS HAVE WAY INTO THE ROAD THAT I EVEN NOTICE THE OTHER DRIVER COMING AT ME AND BY THAT TIME IT WAS TO LATE ANY NEITHER MYSELF OR THE OTHER DRIVER WERE ABLE TO AVOID THE COLLISION. THE OTHER DRIVERS CAR THE STUCK MY IN THE REAR PASSENGER COMPLETELY DESTROYING IT AND SPINNING ME OUT OF THE ROAD IN THE DIRECTION OF A LIGHT POLE WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO AVOID OR STOP SHORT OF DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD LOST POWER TO THE VEHICLES CONTROLS. MY FINAL STOPPING POSITION WAS A FEW FEET AWAY FROM THE POLE AFTER IT RIPPED THAT SECTION OF FRONT BUMPER APART AND I BOUNCED OF THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED NEITHER THE SIDE NOR FRONT. *TR
MY CAR HAS ALMOST GOTTEN ME IN 3 ACCIDENTS AND IT ROLLS BACK ON HILLS I WAS PULLING INTO A DRIVE WAY AND IT STARTED TO ROLL BACK THEN IT SLOWED DOWN AND THERE WAS A LOAD NOISE AND WE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS IT WAS JUST A DRIVE WAY. THE CAR HAS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER AT ALL IT STUTTERS AND WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IN BUSY PLACES AND YOUR CAR WONT PICK UP ENOUGH TON ENTER ON THE HIGHWAY OR FREEWAY ITS SCARY AND ITS UNSAFE IT WILL SHAKE THE WHOLE CAR WHEN IT PULLS BACK AND STUTTERS. IT IS AWFUL AND I WENT ON A 3 HOUR DRIVE TO GO ON VACATION I ACTUALLY RENTED A CAR INSTEAD OF TAKING MY BRAND NEW CAR THAT I GOT TO LAST ME YEARS FRO NOW WAS THE PLAN IF IT MAKES IT ANOTHER 1 YEAR I WILL BE SURPRISED VERY DANGEROUS FORD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE RPMS REVVED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANS CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ACCELERATED AND THE TRANSMISSION STUTTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE COMPUTER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND THE MOTOR THAT CONTROLLED THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
MY VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO STALL WHEN STOPPING OR WHEN, FROM A STANDING POSITION, ATTEMPTS TO STALL AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF WHEN THE LOW FUEL LIGHT TURNS ON AND I MEAN IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WILL FAIL TO TURN ON IN THE MORNINGS AT TIMES. IT WILL TAKE A FEW TURNS OF THE KEY AND THEN IT WILL START. *TR
I'VE EXPERIENCED BOTH HESITATION AND LURCHING FORWARD WITH THIS VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING AND TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS (5-15 MILES PER HOUR) THIS IS SCARY WHEN MERGING ONTO FOUR LANE OR EVEN WHEN CAUGHT IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING PROBLEM EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE OR TWICE, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE WIRES ON THE TRUNK LID WERE EXPOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THEY WERE UNABLE TO ALTER THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
VEHICLE STARTED UP BUT THE DISPLAY SCREEN THAT IS VISIBLE BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BLACK. SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND TRIED TO RESTART BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. ALSO, I HAD NO HEADLIGHTS AND COULD NOT SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL BUT THE RADIO WORKED. A WEEK PREVIOUSLY TO THIS INCIDENT MY DATE ON THE MY TOUCH SYSTEM CHANGED BACK TO 4/20/2011 AND THE TIME WAS OFF BY 2 HOURS PREVIOUS TO THE CURRENT TIME. IT EVENTUALLY WENT BACK TO THE CORRECT DATE AND TIME BY RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITH A DELAY OF ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH THAT I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED IN FOR REPAIR. *TR
NEW 2012 FOCUS JAN. 18-2012. AFTER 9258 MILES STEERING LOCKED WHILE ENTERING BUSY INTERSECTION. GREAT DIFFICULTLY STEERING CAR OFF ROAD. INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE THAT DAY (8-6) AND AGAIN 8-7, FOURTH TIME 8-18. WARNING LIGHT "STEERING ASSIST FAULT.". DEALER UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. THEREFORE NOTHING CORRECTED. DEALER OFFERED NO RECOURSE. I FELT CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER FRUSTRATING CONVERSIONS WITH DEALER REP, A FRIEND DROVE THE CAR TO NEARBY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED A 2012 SONIC. THIS DECISION TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR WAS VERY COSTLY. MY SAFETY ON THE HIGHWAY NECESSITATED THE DECISION. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. AT TIMES I FELT REP'S REMARKS WERE DEMEANING. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS HAD IT FIXED TWICE FRONT END WANT STAY LINED UP HAVE PURCHASE THREE SET OF TIRES EATING MY TIERS UP HAD IT LINED UP THREE TIMES SICK OF THIS CAR IT A LEMON. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2012 AND WAS NEVER FOREWARNED ABOUT THE ISSUES THEY HAD. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN FIXED NUMEROUS TIMES BUT CONTINUES TO CLIP, SHUDDER, JERK, AND SHAKE. *TR
2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRUNK LID, WIRING AND WATER FLOWING DOWN REAR WINDOW *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE TRUNK WAS ACTIVATED, THE LID WENT FROM FULLY CLOSED TO FULLY OPENED AT A HIGH VELOCITY IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE WIRING ROUTED TO THE INSIDE OF THE TRUNK LID, WAS HANGING DOWN, AND WHEN IT RAINED, WATER FLOWED DOWN AND THROUGH THE GAPS BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW AND THE TOP OF THE TRUNK LID.
THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE HESITATES AND SHUTTERS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION. I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS NORMAL, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE, AS IT DID NOT DO THIS FOR THE FIRST TEN THOUSAND MILES. IN MY OPINION IT MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE BECAUSE OF HESITATION FROM A STOPPED POSITION. ALSO FROM A STOPPED POSITION ON A SMALL INCLINE THE CAR WILL SHAKE SOMEWHAT VIOLENTLY DURING TAKE OFF. THE SHAKING IS BAD ENOUGH TO MAKE ME BELIEVE THAT IT COULD BE DOING DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS TO THE DRIVE TRAIN AND COMPONENTS OF ANY OTHER SYSTEMS. ALSO WHO WANTS TO SPEND TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS AND UP FOR A VEHICLE THAT ACCELERATES AND SHIFTS NO BETTER THAN A CAR FROM THE 80'S. I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH IN QUALITY CONTROL. THANK YOU. *TR
APPROACHED STOP LIGHT ON A ROAD WITH STEEP INCLINE. CAME TO COMPLETE STOP BEHIND SEVERAL CARS WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT WHEN PRESSED GAS TO MOVE AT GREEN LIGHT, GEAR (DESPITE BEING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) SLIPPED AND STAYED IN NEUTRAL, REVVING BUT NOT ENGAGING. CAR BEGAN QUICKLY ROLLING BACKWARDS. I WAS ABLE TO YANK EMERGENCY BRAKE JUST BEFORE HITTING THE CAR APPROACHING MINE FROM BEHIND. SIMILAR INCIDENCES HAVE OCCURRED WITH REGARD TO INCORRECT/ DANGEROUS AUTOMATIC GEAR CHANGES -- SUDDEN LOSS OF NEEDED GEAR CHANGE TO ENTER HIGHWAY FROM RAMP (FLAT LAND) AND ALL KINDS OF GEAR CHANGING PROBLEMS (STUCK IN GEAR SEVERAL GEARS TOO LOW OR TOO HIGH) IN HILLY TERRAIN. THIS CAN RESULT IN LURCHING AS WELL. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NORMAL OPERATION AND SAYS THE CAR ISN'T GENERATING HELPFUL CODES AS A RESULT. *TR
AUTOMATIC MANUAL CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS, JERKS, VIBRATES AND LURCHES AT LOW SPEEDS OR ON HILLS. FORD REPROGRAMMED CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION IN 2014 AND IT IMPROVED, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS MORE INTERMITTENT WITH IT OCCURRING ONCE OR TWICE DAILY. FORD HAS SINCE TRIED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BUT SAY THERE IS REALLY NOTHING WRONG AND IT PASSES THEIR TEST. THEY SAY IF IT FAILS THEIR COMPUTER TEST THEY WILL REPLACE THE AUTO CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. NOT REAL CONFIDENT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR IN HILLY AREAS. *TR

EVER SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE MAY 2012 IT HAS SHUDDERED WHEN DRIVING, STALLED WHILE DRIVING, AND SHAKES AND DOES NOT INCREASE SPEED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS STEPPED ON. THE CAR NOW DOES NOT EVEN START WHEN IT IS TURNED ON, DESPITE THE BATTERY BEING GOOD. CAR WAS TOWED INTO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT. DID SEVERAL REPAIRS TO IT BUT TO THIS DATE IT STILL SHUDDERS AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THE LATEST REPAIR THEY DID WAS TO FIX THE ALTERNATOR...WE WILL SEE....HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THIS MODEL HAS SEVERAL DEFECTS AND WOULD TERM IT AS A LEMON. IT BARELY HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT AND A CAR THIS NEW SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES AS THEY ARE SAFETY ISSUES AND I FEAR FOR ME AND MY CHILDRENS LIVES AND SAFETY AS THIS CAR DOES NOT FUNCTION SAFELY AND STALLS WHEN WE ARE DRIVING! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS WITH CONTINENTAL ROAD TIRES, SIZE: 215/ 50 R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE EXPLODED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO SLIGHTLY CRASH INTO A CURB. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRE WAS UNDER INFLATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE EXHIBITED SEVERAL BUBBLES ON THE SIDE WALL. THE DEALER PUNCTURED THE BUBBLES IN ORDER TO DEFLATE THE TIRE AND STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THE TIRE WAS UNDER INFLATED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,436....UPDATED 10/11/12 *BF UPDATED 10/15/2012 *JS
I HAD AN EARLIER COMPLAINT ON MY FIRST FOCUS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2012...INCIDENT DATE JUNE 27 2012...I LOST POWER STEERING ON 3 OCCASIONS...SERVICE WAS NOT ABLE TO FIX IT SO THEY EXCHANGED MY CAR FOR AN IDENTICAL ONE ON JULY 25, 2012...THE SECOND DAY I DROVE THE NEW FOCUS, SOMETHING STRANGE HAPPENED WITH THE STEERING WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY...I WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AND THE CAR STARTED TO WANDER TO THE RIGHT AND IT ALSO DID IT TO THE LEFT...THE STEERING IS VERY TIGHT AND WAS DIFFICULT TO GET THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT...I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THAT IS JUST HOW IT DRIVES..IF THIS TRUE, I'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE EXPRESSWAY...THIS WANDERING WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND TIRING TO FIGHT THE WHEEL....2 NEW CARS IN 4 MONTHS TIME BOTH WITH STEERING PROBLEMS MAKES ME THINK THERE ARE SOME KINKS WITH THE NEW ELECTRIC STEERING ON FORDS....THIS WILL BE MY FIRST AND LAST EXPERIENCE WITH FORDS. *JS
JERKING AND HESITATION ON ACCELERATION, SURGING, DRIFTING , GRINDING NOISES, RATTLING NOISE, CONTACTED SELLING DEALER AND THEY RESET THE COMPUTER 2 TIMES, AND ANOTHER FORD DEALER RESET IT ONCE. EACH TIME IT SEEMED TO WORK BETTER FOR LESS THAN 20 MILES. *TR
GOT THE CAR ON WEDNESDAY JULY 25TH AFTER A WEEK LONG WAIT FOR KEY....LONG STORY.....THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED 2 HOURS AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR. SITTING IN A DRIVE THRU. "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, MAINTENANCE REQUIRED". TURNED CAR OFF AND ON PROBLEM WENT AWAY. NEXT DAY SITTING IN TRAFFIC, THE PROBLEM RETURNED CALLED FOR SERVICE AND TAKING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. WISH I WOULD HAVE LOOKED THIS UP PRIOR TO PURCHASE! *TR
2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION OCCURRED, A DAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AT 3RD AND 5TH GEARS. THE DEALER CALIBRATED THE TRANSMISSION ONE MONTH LATER. TWO WEEKS LATER, THERE WAS A CHATTER COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. FORD STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. A YEAR LATER, THE TRANSMISSION JERKED AND SLIPPED. THE DEALER VERIFIED THE PROBLEM, AND MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM IS STILL ONGOING.
CAR LUNGES WHEN ACCELERATING OR ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THRU AUTOMATIC OR SPORT MODE OF THE TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION ALSO TEMPORARILY PAUSES DURING SHIFTING ROUTINE AT ALL SPEEDS, MOSTLY AT LOW SPEEDS. IT IS LIKE THE CPU IS OVERRIDING WHAT THE DRIVER IS PROMPTING THRU TOUCHING OF THE GAS PEDAL OR BRAKE PEDAL. WE'VE HAD IT IN TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT COMPLAINING ABOUT THESE CONDITIONS, THEY INSIST THE CAR IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. IF SO, FORD IS IN DENIAL AND MOST CERTAINLY APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. I DESCRIBE THESE CONCERNS AS IF I WAS HAVING TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE, ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, SAFETY SHOULD ALWAYS BE EVERYONE'S NUMBER CONCERN. DITTO, THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE EITHER. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FROM FORD TO ADMIT AND RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM, AN INJURY ACCIDENT? I HOPE NOT. THEN, TOP THAT OFF, WE BOUGHT THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE FOR TOWING PURPOSES. THE FACTORY REQUIRES THE CPU AND ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MUST BE DISCONNECTED TO TOW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000. IN JUNE 2012, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND HER FRONT PASSENGER TIRE EXPLODED. THIS WAS THE 3RD SET OF NEW TIRES WE HAD PLACED ON THIS VEHICLE (BY 30,000 MILES - AVERAGING 10,000 MILES PER SET OF TIRES). THEN IN JULY 2012, SHE WAS DRIVING HOME AND STARTED TO SKID. SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO RECOVER FROM THE SKID AND HIT A TREE HEAD-ON. THE FRONT OF HER CAR WAS DESTROYED. THE TREE CENTERED HER CAR AND THE FRONT END LOOKED LIKE A VOLKSWAGEN BUG. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE HAD THIS VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT END. EACH TIME THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. HOWEVER, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS COULD FEEL THE CAR SWAY WHEN RIDING IT IN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY ($17,000 CHECK SENT TO FORD) AND WE STILL OWE $1700 THAT WE HAVE AGREED TO PAY TO FORD TO KEEP FROM RUINING OUR CREDIT. SERVICE MANAGER WENT WITH MYSELF AND WIFE FOR A TEST DRIVE AND SAID THIS WAS NORMAL AND IF IT PERSISTED BRING IT BACK AND THEY WOULD TRY AND RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. WE TOOK THIS BACK TIME AND TIME AGAIN AND WAS TOLD FORD WAS WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM, FINALLY I INSISTED THAT THIS PROBLEM BE REPAIRED. I TOOK MY CAR IN AND BILL KNIGHT REPLACED THE CLUTCH AND THIS RESOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A MONTH, WHEN THE PROBLEM CAME BACK IT WAS MUCH WORSE AND IT EFFECTED MY GAS MILEAGE AND THE VIBRATION TURNED INTO A HEAVY SHUTTER AT TIMES. MY WIFE STARTED GETTING HEADACHES AND WITH HER HAVING SURGERY ON HER NECK I STARTED WONDERING IF THE FORD FOCUS WAS GIVING HER THE PROBLEM. FORD RAN OUT THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS ON MY VEHICLE SO THEY DID NOT HAVE TO PAY ME. THE VEHICLE HAS A PROPENSITY OF TURNING OFF WHEN ACCELERATING TO 65 MPH. WHILE TURNING, THE CAR HESITATED, AND THE CAR WAS STOPPING, THE WAY IT DID IN 2012. I WAS ALMOST KILLED BY AN 18-WHEELER WHO THOUGHT I WAS INITIATING ROAD RAGE. HE THEN FOLLOWED ME AND RAN ME OFF THE ROAD COMING ONE INCH TO THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I TRIED TO TAKE PICTURES, BUT MY HAND WAS TREMBLING. FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE AT THE REPLACEMENT VALUE FROM JULY OF 2012 AND OBEY THE VA LEMON LAW STATUTE. FORD OFFERED ME A BUY OUT OF $8,000 IN DECEMBER 2018. MY CAR HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. EVERY SINGLE TIME I START AND STOP THE CAR SHUDDERS AND HESITATES. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ALSO THE CAR'S CRUISE CONTROL BROKE WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF OWNING THE CAR, IT WAS FIXED AND THEN BROKE AGAIN A MONTH LATER. AND HASN'T WORKED IN 2 YEARS. THIS CAR IS JUNK. THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEMS AND I FINALLY RAN OUT OF A WARRANTY AND GAVE UP. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY TO HAVE THIS CAR FIXED WHEN I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR I COLLEGE TO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING WORK DONE TO A CAR. THIS HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT AND I JUST WANT THEM TO BE RECALLED. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE "REPROGRAMMED" BACK IN JUNE OF 2012 IT DROVE OKAY WITH ONLY MINOR HICCUPS WITH TRANSMISSION UNTIL OCTOBER 20, 2013. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 22,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CAR IS NOW NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WAS LIKE I WAS STILL IN NEUTRAL, ONCE IT DID GET GOING THEN IT DID NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR PROPERLY. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I WILL BE TAKING BACK TO DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN TO REPROGRAM HOPEFULLY AT NO CHARGE. THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND NEEDS TO BE ON A MANDATORY RECALL. *TR

SECOND ISSUE STARTED AT LOWER MILEAGE BUT CONTINUED DRIVING AND GOT WORSE AND AT 35500 MILES TOOK FOCUS TO DEALERSHIP WITH TRANSMISSION SHUTTERING JERKING AND MAKING NOISES. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER. BEFORE REPROGRAMMING I WAS GETTING 34.2 MILES TO THE GALLON AFTERWARDS GETTING WORSE NOISES JERKS AND MILEAGE DOWN TO 28.6. TOLD ME THEN AT THE TIME OF REPROGRAMMING THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THE CLUTCH TO BE REPLACED BUT IT WOULD TAKE TWO MONTHS TO GET THE PARTS AND IT WAS OK TO DRIVE TILL THEN. I DRIVE 64 MINIMUM HIGHWAY MILES EVERY WORK WEEK. SERIOUSLY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY AND BEING STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT: SERVICE REQUIRED." THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND STARTING IT AGAIN, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. TWO WEEKS LATER ON JULY 14, AT 1717 MILES, AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES PER HOUR, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN AND THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE CAR WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND STARTING IT AGAIN, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. AGAIN, THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES. *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR CAR WITH ONLY 7 MILES ON IT. SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN SITTING ON A HILL OR STOP LIGHT. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED TO BRING IT IN. WELL IT WAS EXPLAINED TO US THAT THE CAR HAD A STANDARD TRANSMISSION AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. SO WE LEFT. THEN I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND OUR GRANDCHILD GOT OUT OF THE CAR WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND IT ROLLED BACKWARDS KNOCKING HIM OVER. CALLED THEM AGAIN, GOT THE SAME ANSWER. THEN THE CAR STARTED TO STAY RUNNING AFTER THE KEY WAS TAKEN OUT. ALSO IT WAS NOT RUNNING WELL . THIS WAS JUST 2 MONTHS LATER. TOOK IT BACK GOT THE SAME ANSWER. WELL CALLED THE OWNER WITH NO RESPONSE. WE HAVE SINCE THEN TAKEN THE CAR BACK FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND STILL GET THE SAME ANSWERS. NOW THERE IS A NEW PROBLEM, ALWAYS FINDING OIL ON THE MOTOR. SO TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT SOMEONE WAS DRIVING THE CAR WITH TWO FEET. THAT'S WHY THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL SKIPPING. WELL I AM THE ONLY DRIVER OF THE CAR AND I ONLY USE MY RIGHT FOOT. THEY SAID THEY PUT A DIE INTO THE OIL TO SEE WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM AND WHEN I WENT ANOTHER 1000 MILES TO BRING THE CAR BACK. THEN I GET A CALL FROM THEM AND HAD AN APPOINTMENT. THEY PUT NEW BOLTS IN OUR VALVE COVER AND CLEANED ALL THE OIL UP. HERE IT IS WE HAVE HAD THE CAR OVER A YEAR AND STILL ARE HAVING SUCH TROUBLE WITH IT. SO I HOPE THAT HOPEFULLY SOON THAT THIS DEALERSHIP MAKES GOOD ON THIS CAR. JUST WENT AGAIN THIS LAST MONTH FOR THE 12TH TIME AND STILL GETTING THE SAME ANSWER. PROBLEM PERSISTED ONLY THEN THE CAR'S SYSTEM INDICATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHEATING (WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY) AND INDICATED ON THE CONSOLE THAT I NEEDED TO WAIT UNTIL THE CAR COOLED DOWN. THE TEMP ON THE CAR WAS IN NORMAL RANGE. I WAS 3 HOURS FROM HOME WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND LEFT ON THE SIDE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY BECAUSE MY CAR'S SYSTEM SAID THE TRANNY WAS OVERHEATING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS A GLITCH; NO CONCERN NECESSARY. I COMPLAINED AGAIN ABOUT THE JERKING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO GIVE THE CAR SOME TIME TO ADJUST TO THE REPAIR AT 11,000. AT 24, 000, I WAS FED UP FROM WAITING AND TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I NEEDED THE ENTIRE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED BUT THEY WERE ON BACK-ORDER. CONTACTED FORD FOR A BUY BACK AND THEY SAID "NO, THAT'S HOW THE CAR DRIVES - IT'S NORMAL" CAR IS NOW AT 50,000 WITH SAME PROBLEMS. CURRENTLY WORKING WITH AN ATTORNEY ON A SUIT AGAINST FORD. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED OUR 2012 FORD FOCUS BACK IN JUNE 2012. WHEN WE GOT THE CAR THERE WAS 28,000 MILES ON IT. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS IN THEIR SHOP DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS NOT TRYING TO SWITCH GEARS CAUSING OUR RPMS TO GO REAL HIGH. THE MECHANICS SAID NOTHINGS WRONG BECAUSE NO LIGHTS WERE ON. SO MONTHS PASS IT WAS RIGHT BACK IN FOR THE SAME THING. WELL THEY SAID THEY PUT A FUEL THROTTLE BOX ON IT AND IT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. SO AFTER THEY "FIXED" THE CAR , WE STILL NOTICED SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT, SO WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR. OUR ENGINE LIGHT KEPT POPPING UP SO WE TOOK IT TO THE CAR LOT ONCE AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT COULD POSSIBLY BE AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM. WELL JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED THE CAR WAS ACTING REAL FUNNY, IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO INTO DRIVE, AND KEPT STALLING. SO ON MY WAY HOME I GOT ON THE INTERSTATE, AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER (LUCKILY I WAS ON MY EXIT RAMP). IT SAID TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION, SO I PULLED OVER, AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I GOT THE CAR TO START AGAIN WHEN IN DRIVE IT WANTED TO GO IN REVERSE. HAD TO TURN IT OFF THEN RESTART BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE THAT FORD NEEDS TO FIX. IF I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ON MY EXIT RAMP I MAY NOT BE HERE TYPING THIS RIGHT NOW. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. IT IS NOT SAFE !!! I HAVE TWO SMALL KIDS AND THEY WILL NOT BE BACK IN THAT CAR !! WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS CAR EVERY SINCE WE GOT IT. *TR
TWO INCIDENTS. WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED ON AN ARTERIAL STREET. TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, AND THERE WAS NO DANGER TO ME OR OTHER MOTORISTS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS OUT OF GAS. THE GAUGE HAD BEEN READING 1/4 FULL AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE GAUGE CONTINUED TO GIVE FALSE READINGS (MOVED FROM LOWER TO HIGHER AMOUNTS DURING THE COURSE OF EXHAUSTING THE FUEL SUPPLY) OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. EVENTUALLY THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FUEL TANK WAS WARPED, AND REPLACED THE TANK. ONE WEEK LATER, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY APPROACHING A MAJOR FREEWAY SYSTEM INTERCHANGE, AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF, CAUSING ME TO HAVE IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPT TO MOVE ACROSS FOUR LANES OF MODERATELY HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENED ON A SLIGHT UPHILL INCLINE, SO THE CAR LOST FORWARD SPEED VERY QUICKLY. DURING THE EMERGENCY MANEUVER, I WAS FORCED IN FRONT OF ANOTHER MOTORIST, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS EXHAUSTED OF FUEL, BUT WITHIN TEN MINUTES PRIOR HAD SHOWN A READING OF 1/4 TANK REMAINING. IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE GAUGE NEEDLE WAS ACTUALLY INDICATING 1/2 TANK. *TR
NEW CAR ...... THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE 5/31/12 .......... FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND ACCELERATING TO GO FORWARD THE CAR WOULD JERK FORWARD, HESITATE AS IF STALLING ....... LAST TIME IT STOPPED DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION .............. TOLD BY FORD TECH THIS IS DO TO THE TRANSMISSION BEING CONTROLLED BY COMPUTER CHIPS ............
