AFTER THREE MONTHS OF THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE I STARTED EXPERIENCING SOME SHUTTERING/NOISE/STALLING OF THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK IT INTO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY "REFLASHED". IT WAS FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS, THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND IT GOT "REFLASHED" AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME THEY DID SOMETHING WITH THE MODULE BOX. AFTER THE FOURTH TIME, THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH ON THE TRANSMISSION. NOW I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND ASSURED ME THAT IT WOULD BE FIXED. SO IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE CONCERNS OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. I HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES WHEN THE CAR STALLS BETWEEN GEARS ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION AND CROSS TRAFFIC DOESN'T STOP. I EVEN TRIED SEEING ABOUT TRADING IT IN AND GOT WELL LESS THEN KBB VALUE BECAUSE OF "ISSUES". SO I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT I CAN'T TRADE IN WITHOUT LOSING ALOT OF MONEY AND IT CAN'T SEEM TO GET FIXED. *TR
WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A MAIN ROAD ONTO A SIDE STREET I ENCOUNTER MASSIVE GRINDING NOISES COMING FROM WHAT SOUNDED LIKE MY LEFT FRONT TIRE AREA. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS MY IMAGINATION. FROM THEN ON THERE IS INTERMITTENT NOISES COMING FROM THAT AREA (SOUNDS LIKE PLASTIC RUBBING ON SOMETHING) I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SAT, 7/14 THEY DID A VISUAL SAFETY EXAM AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG BUT THEY DID ROTATE MY TIRES JUST IN CASE. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS FROM ABOUT 0-20 MPH (GOING STRAIGHT) (SOUNDS SEPARATE FROM THE GRINDING ISSUES UNDER THE TIRE, BUT I AM UNSURE IF THIS IS RELATED. I AM SCHEDULED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/19 TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND A PROBLEM. VERY FRUSTRATING AS THIS CAR IS JUST OVER 6 MONTHS OLD! *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I STARTED IT UP AND BACKED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND BEGAN MOVING FORWARD. AFTER GOING APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET THE "I" SIGN ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE MESSAGE "STEERING MALFUNCTION, NEEDS SERVICE" CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE ALARM JINGLE. I TRIED TO STEER THE CAR OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVE LANE AND MANAGED TO GET IT OVER TO THE SIDE, BUT THE STEERING WAS PRACTICALLY FROZEN. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND LOOKED FOR ANY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF TROUBLE, BUT COULD FIND NONE. AFTER READING THROUGH THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND CHECKING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, I RESTARTED THE CAR (ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER I SHUT IT OFF) AND NO WARNING SIGN CAME ON. I TEST DROVE IT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR A MINUTE TO SEE IF THE STEERING WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY AND THEN DROVE HOME AND EXPERIENCED NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD AUTOWAY DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS STEMMING FROM AN ABS "CORRUPTED" PROGRAM. THEY TOLD ME THE EPAS GETS IT POWER THROUGH THE ABS. THEY REBOOTED THE ABS PROGRAM AND I'VE HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. *TR
VEHICLE CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM LOCKED THE CAR WHILE PARKED WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. LOCKSMITH WAS CALLED TO FORCE ENTRY. ALARM DID NOT ACTIVATE WHEN DOOR WAS OPENED. *TR
2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE MANUAL TRANSMISSION STALLING AND LOOSING POWER WHEN APPROACHING AN INCLINE AND WHEN DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE NOISES COMING FROM THE DOOR PANELS, AND DASH AREA. ALSO, THERE WAS A VIBRATION AT THE TOP OF THE SEAT BELT AREAS AND CENTER CONSOLE.
AS I WAS TURNING OUT OF A STORE INTO TRAFFIC, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT....POWER ASSIST FAULT CAME UP ON COMPUTER SCREEN....STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TURN....ONCE I GOT OFF THE ROAD I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN AND THE STEERING RETURNED....I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT PER SSM 21987 CODE. ONE WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, TWICE WITHIN 6 MILES....FIRST TIME I WAS BACKING UP AND THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR....IT APPEARS THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME AND IN ANY GEAR....I CALLED DEALERSHIP AND IMMEDIATELY HAD IT TOWED TO THEIR SHOP...PRESENT MILEAGE 2076 MILES....I'LL SEE WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY THIS TIME....I FEAR THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF IT CONTINUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED HE NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT STATED THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE STEERING DEFAULT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
ON-GOING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SHUDDERING/SHIFTING PROBLEMS THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING WERE "NORMAL" AND THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ADJUSTMENT PERIOD. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD SMOOTH OUT ONCE IT GOT USED TO MY DRIVING PATTERN. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED UNTIL IT GOT SO BAD THAT I TOOK IT BACK IN DECEMBER 2013 AND THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRED REPAIR. IT WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MAY OF 2014 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND SEVERAL SEALS. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS BADLY, ON TAKE OFF, AND HAS BOGGED DOWN TO THE POINT THAT I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED, I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH ROLLBACK ON HILLS AND PROBLEMS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE UPHILL. *TR
I IN JUNE 2012 I TOOK THE CAR IN TO COMPLAIN THAT IT WAS STALLING, JERKING AND SHUDDERING. IT APPEARED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED UNTIL SEVERAL MONTHS LATER WHEN IT BEGAN TO STALL, JERK AND SHUDDER AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN THE CAR IN 2013 AND 2014 COMPLAINING THAT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACT THE SAME WAY. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD IN MAY 2012 ADVISING THAT WE MAY EXPERIENCE ROUGH OR JERKY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AND THAT THEY HAD A "FIX." I AGAIN RECEIVED A LETTER IN AUGUST 2014 ADVISING THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT IT MAY BE POSSIBLE FOR THE POWERSHIFT 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO EXHIBIT EXCESSIVE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION AND IT MAY BE CAUSED BY FLUID CONTAMINATION OF THE CLUTCH DUE TO LEAKING TRANSMISSION SEALS. THE LETTER STATES THAT IF THE VEHICLE'S CLUTCH, TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT SEALS, OR TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE CALIBRATION REQUIRE SERVICE OR REPLACEMENT THEY WILL SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AS NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP I WAS ADVISED THAT IT MAY BE A SIMPLE UPDATE TO THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE A YEAR AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR AND I FEEL VERY UNSAFE, AS IT TRIES TO STALL WHEN PARKED AT A LIGHT OR WHEN I'M DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS WHEN I AM MOVING THROUGH A FOUR WAY STOP SIGN. I FEEL THAT ONE DAY I MAY HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR WILL NOT TAKE OFF AND THE CAR BEHIND ME WILL REAR END ME; OR, WORSE, IT MAY ACCELERATE TOO QUICKLY CAUSING ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR A BARRIER. *TR
JERKY TRANSMISSION, CAR BUCKING NOT WANTING TO SHIFT, SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL AND JUST REVS, NO START PROBLEMS, SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHTS UP, TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT WARNING , TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION WARNING..TCM REPROGRAMMED SEVERAL TIMES, TRANSMISSION SUPPOSEDLY REBUILT (TOOK APPOX. 6 WEEKS TO GET CAR BACK), CONTROL MODULE REPLACED A COUPLE OF TIMES.. AFTER HAVING A FEW DAYS AFTER REPAIRS, SERVICE ENGINE SOON COMES BACK ON , NO START PROBLEMS OCCUR AGAIN, TRANSMISSION STARTS SLIPPING AGAIN. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN THEY PLUGGED INTO COMPUTER AND NO ISSUES SHOWED UP. LAST INCIDENT WAS 9/15/15 WHERE MODULE WAS REPLACED, PICKED CAR UP ON 9/17/15 AND ON 9/18/15 NO START PROBLEM AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT BACK ON AND CAR IS BUCKING.
NEW TITANIUM MODEL FOCUS ... AIR BAG LIGHT STARTING COMING ON WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DOWN THE ROAD ... THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, UNTIL FINALLY THE LIGHT CAME ON AN STAYED ON. DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR FOR 7 DAYS NOW AND STILL UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. *TT
THE ROLLING BACK PROBLEM CAME FIRST. WHEN YOU ARE STOPPED ON ANY INCLINE, BETWEEN TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND PLACING IT ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR ROLLS BACK QUITE QUICKLY, AND I HAVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME. THE STEERING PROBLEMS CAME A LITTLE LATER. THE STEERING REQUIRES BOTH HANDS AT ALL TIMES, AND EVEN THEN IT IS QUITE SHAKY. I FEEL CAR SICK WHEN I AM THE PASSENGER BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH SIDE TO SIDE MOVEMENT. DURING TURNS, THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT IS CUTTING OUT, IT LOSES SO MUCH POWER, AND I HAVE TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR EXTREMELY HARD JUST TO GET ENOUGH POWER TO FINISH THE TURN. THE SCARIEST OF ALL OF THE PROBLEMS HAPPENS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES. WHEN I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (60-70MPH) AND I BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN, THE STEERING GETS OUT OF CONTROL AND GOES BACK AND FORTH SO RAPIDLY, I HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE TRYING TO KEEP IT IN THE LANE, AND THE BRAKING IS NOT AS EFFICIENT AS IT SHOULD BE WHEN THIS HAPPENS, AND I HAVE NEARLY ESCAPED HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I HAVE BEEN IN THIS SITUATION, I HAVE STARTED TO BRAKE RIGHT WHEN I SEE THE BRAKE LIGHTS AHEAD, AND I HAVE HAD AMPLE SPACE TO STOP GRADUALLY AND SAFELY IF I WERE DRIVING A NORMAL CAR, BUT IN THIS CAR, IT IS OUT OF CONTROL AND THE BRAKES WON'T WORK WELL WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON DRY ROADS. THIS CAR TERRIFIES ME AND THE RAIN AND ICE HAVEN'T EVEN HIT YET. AFTER I EXPERIENCED THESE PROBLEMS, I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND WAS SURPRISED TO SEE HOW MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THEM TOO. THE SHOP HAD MY CAR FOR 13 DAYS AND THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT IT IS "PERFECT" AND THEY DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING AND TO COME PICK IT UP. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN JUNE, IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER, IT HAD 1074 MILES WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP. HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE AFTER PURCHASING IT NEW ON 12/31/11. 06/08/12, 7148K MI, CAR SHIFTING AT INCORRECT TIMES, CAR WOULD JERK WHEN SHIFTING, AND ROLL BACK AT TIMES ON FLAT SURFACES AND AT TRAFFIC STOPS. ALSO CAR WOULD SHUTTER. SERVICE REPAIR, OPEN RECALL PCM FOR INCORRECT SHIFT/JERKING. 10/16/12-10/17/12, 10437K MI, CAR WOULD MAKE A GRINDING NOISE, NOTICED MOSTLY WHEN TURNING, BUT NOT ALWAYS ONLY WHEN TURNING. SOMETIMES CAR SEEMS LIKE IT WAS A MANUAL SNUBBING OUT. ALSO THE MPG INDICATOR WOULD NOT FLUCTUATE AND STAYED AT 29.9MPG, HAD BEEN STUCK AT 29.9 MPG FOR A FEW MONTHS. SERVICE REPAIR = REPLACE BOTH FRONT SPRINGS AND BEARINGS. 11/05/12-11/07/12, 10950K MI, LAST REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE GRINDING NOISE. MAKES THIS GRINDING NOISE ALSO WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEARS. SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID THEY COULD HEAR IT SOMETIMES, BUT COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND INSTRUCTED ME TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL IT MADE THE NOISE ENOUGH FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. 05/15/13-05/17/13, 13514K MI, CAR WOULD HAVE TROUBLE ACCELERATING, WAS JERKING WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOPS, MADE GRINDING NOISES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. 06/12/13, 14103K MI, SINCE CLUTCH REPLACED CAR ROLLS BACK, ON A FLAT SURFACE AND MY CAR ALMOST ROLLED INTO THE CAR BEHIND ME. 07/17/13-07/18/13, 16007K MI, WHEN CAR SHIFTS GEARS IT IS JERKING REALLY BADLY, CAUSING PASSENGERS UPPER BODY TO JERK FORWARD AWAY FROM THEIR SEAT. SHUTTERING AND THE CAR MAKES A BAD GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING. ONE INSTANCE I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, AND GOT HALF WAY THROUGH FIRST GEAR AND THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. CAR ACCELERATING BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR-ENDED MY CAR. 7/18/2013, 16043K MI, SHUTTERING STILL THERE. AS I EASED OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR. SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
FROM THE DAY PURCHASED, TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHILE DRIVING, GOING UP A HILL OR TAKING OFF. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT'S NORMAL.
MY CAR STALLS OUT AND HESITATES WHEN PULLING OUT FROM INTERSECTIONS. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT HAPPENS REGULARLY AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO TO CORRECT IT. MY 2012 FORD FOCUS IS UNDER WARRANTY BUT FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE CAR. *TR
MYFORDTOUCH: UNABLE TO BE HEARD WHEN I CALL FROM THE CAR USING MY BLUETOOTH CONNECTED PHONE (3 DIFFERENT PHONES USED WITH SAME OUTCOME). WHEN DRIVING IN THE CAR, DIRECTIONS, TRAFFIC, AND TRYING TO GET THE OPERATOR IS NOT POSSIBLE. (NOTE: DIRECTIONS SOMETIMES WORK IF THE CAR IS NOT MOVING.) I TRIED WORKING WITH MY DEALERSHIP (BOB MAXEY FORD IN HOWELL, MI, VISITING THEM MANY TIMES. THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE, THEY BROUGHT IN A FORD ENGINEER (BECAUSE I HAD ESCALATED MY NEED WITHIN THE FORD COMPANY). AFTER THAT IT WORKED "MOST OF THE TIME" FOR A WEEK, WHEN ALL FOUR QUADRANTS ON MY SCREEN SHOWED POWER OFF FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES THEN SLOWLY EACH QUADRANT POWERED UP. FROM THEN ON I WAS BACK TO WHERE I WAS BEFORE IE NO TRAFFIC, DIRECTIONS, OPERATOR, AND PHONE USE. BOB MAXEY FORD'S SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME ON MY LAST VISIT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO.............I'VE HAD IT!! I'VE PAID FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T WORK.......... :( *TR
VEHICLE VIBRATES ON ROAD AT HIGHWAY AND NON-HIGHWAY ROAD AS WELL. FEELS LIKE FRONT-END WILL FALL OFF. CLUNKING AND VIBRATION FROM FRONT-END. MULTIPLE SERVICE ATTEMPTS FROM FORD DEALERS AND MULTIPLE FRONT SUSPENSION SERVICE REPAIRS; HOWEVER, PROBLEM REMAINS. TEST DROVE 3 BRAND NEW SAME VEHICLES AT DEALERSHIPS AND ALL DO THE SAME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THEN THE SPEED GREATLY INCREASED ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CLUTCHES IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
WAS TOLD THIS CAR HAD "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION". AFTER A FEW HUNDRED MILES ON IT, I NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED SPORADICALLY AND WITH NO PREDICTION. ENGINE SHUDDERED, CAR LOST POWER AND WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE KEY HERE IS NO PREDICTION AS TO HOW THE CAR WILL REACT WHEN UNDER ACCELERATION. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD "THIS ISN'T AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - IT'S A COMPUTER- CONTROLLED MANUAL THAT HAS TO LEARN HOW YOU DRIVE". DEALER UPLOADED A COMPUTER UPDATE FROM FORD. THE NEXT HUNDRED MILES OF DRIVING ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS DUE TO LACK OF ACCELERATION AND UNEVEN PERFORMANCE. 6/4/2012 I TRIED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AND CAR REFUSED TO SPEED UP. I ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT, BUT NUMEROUS DRIVERS SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND/OR SWERVED AND AVERTED MULTIPLE COLLISIONS. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER 6/5/2012 AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. WAS TOLD BY HEAD TECH "IT JUST HAS TO GET USED TO HOW YOU DRIVE". I TOLD HIM THERE WERE THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE DRIVING THIS FOCUS. HE SAID WE CAN'T, BECAUSE THAT WOULD JUST END UP TOTALLY "CONFUSING" THE COMPUTER. AS THE CAR IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, IT IS STILL AT THE DEALER. MILES ON VEHICLE ARE UNDER 800.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2012 FORD FOCUS IN MAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, TO REPORT A PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THE 2012 FOCUS AROUND FEBRUARY OF 2012. AT FIRST I WAS ESTATIC AND THE CAR RAN GREAT. HOWEVER, JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT THE CAR STARTED GRIDING AT LOW SPEEDS HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE GOING UP A HILL TO THE POINT IT WANTS TO STALL. AT ONE POINT I DID GET UP THE HILL, BUT THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO RECOVER AND ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER THE CAR DID STALL DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND WE HAD TO GLIDE IT THROUGH TRAFFIC AND INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BY THE TIME I GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T "DUPLICATE THE ISSUE", AND THAT IF THE LIGHT HAD WENT OFF THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND. THE GRINDING NOISES CONTINUED, AND I COMPLAINED EVERYTIME I BROUGHT IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. IT ALSO STARTED ACTING LETHARGIC WHEN MAKING TURNS (SPECIFICALLY LEFT TURNS). THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY REPROGRAMMED THE POWERTRAIN TO FIX SHUDDERING AND ROLLBACK AS WELL AS FIXED THE NAMEPLATE THAT FELL OFF MY CAR. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SHUDDER WAY MORE THAN BEFORE AFTER THIS. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY REPAIRED A LEAKY SEAL AND REPROGRAMED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. SINCE THEN IT STILL ROLLS BACK ON SLIGHT INCLINES BUT NOT AS MUCH. ALSO, MY CAR STILL MAKES LOUD GRINDING SOUNDS AS WELL AS SHUDDERS AND HESITATES AT LOW SPEEDS. I'M GOING TO BRING IT IN FOR A THIRD TIME, BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE SHUDDERING, HESITATION AND IS LEAKING TRANSMISSION OIL. BESIDES THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THE QUALITY OF MY CAR SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE AS WELL, AS WATER SEEMS TO COLLECT INSIDE THE DOORS AFTER IT RAINS. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AS THIS IS MY FIRST BRAND NEW CAR AND MY FIRST TIME BUYING A FORD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, A METAL TO METAL RATTLING NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED GEARS AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE WITH HESITATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY WHEN SHIFTING INTO SECOND GEAR. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WHEN DRIVING ON AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE WHERE EACH TIME THE COMPUTER MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

IN MAY OF 2012 MY CAR HAD THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY REPLACED AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP FOR 6 WEEKS. THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STICK ON AND NOT SHUT OFF. THE POWER WINDOWS AND AIR CONDITIONER BOTH DECIDED NOT WORK AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE HAD THE STRUTS REPLACES BEFORE 10,000 MILES. THE GAS MILEAGE GOES FROM 14 MPG TO 33MPG RANDOMLY. THE CAR LIKES TO ROLL BACK AND NOT GO INTO GEAR WHEN DRIVING. I REPLACE TIRES EVERY 6 MONTHS BECAUSE THE CAR EATS MY TIRES UP. MY FAVORITE PROBLEM IS LOOSING POWER WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE KEPT ALL PAPERS REGARDING THE CAR IN THE SHOP. MY FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THE FOCUS FORD PAID FOR MY RENTAL CAR TO BE DRIVEN 17,000 MILES DUE TO MY CAR BEING IN THE SHOP. I HAVE ASKED FOR HELP WITH THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS WITH FORD TO BE TOLD I NEED TO LEARN TO DRIVE. I AM DRIVING A CAR KNOW THAT COMPLETELY LOOSES POWER ALL THE TIME AND THE TRANSMISSION STICKS. I HAVE HAD TO WAIT 3 WEEKS FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON NOV 3 TO GET THESE ISSUES LOOKED AT. MY CAR IS FAR FROM SAFE AND I HAVE EXPRESSED TO FORD I FEEL THIS CAR IS GOING TO KILL ME. I SPENT 30,000 MILES DRIVING THIS CAR WHEN IN FACT I SHOULDN'T HAD. THE DEALERSHIP CAN NEVER FIND A PROBLEM ON MY CAR. THE GAS ALSO CAN ONLY PUT 10 CENTS OF GAS AT A TIME IN OR GAS LIKES TO POUR OUT FROM THE BOTTOM. SOMETIMES THE GAS KNOZZLE CAN'T FIT IN THE GAS TANK BECAUSE IT CLOSES UP. ONCE AGAIN FORD COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER CARE EACH TIME THERE IS A PROBLEM. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ERRATICALLY. WILL NOT DOWN SHIFT WHEN NEEDED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR. CAR WILL ALSO ROLL BACK WHEN YOU STOP IF ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. THERE IS A VOLUNTARY RECALL BY FORD FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE REMEDIES DO NOT WORK. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THESE REMEDIES PERFORMED ON MY CAR OVER A YEAR AGO. THE PROBLEMS STILL EXIST. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS REGARDING THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS OVER A YEAR AGO BUT FORD HAS TAKEN THE STANCE AS TO IGNORE THEM. FORD HAD PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THESE PROBLEMS AND OTHER PROBLEMS ON THESE CARS BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN INTRODUCED TO THE PUBLIC. FORD CHOSE TO PUT SALES BEFORE CONSUMER SAFETY. THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE NHTSA FOR THEM TO MAKE THIS A INVOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL, PEOPLE GETTING KILLED? I TURNED ONTO A RESIDENTIAL STREET THAT HAS A STEEP GRADE. AS I ACCELERATED UPHILL, THE TRUNK OPENED WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM MYSELF (DRIVER AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE). THE DOORS AND TRUNK WERE LOCKED AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE. THERE WERE A FEW ITEMS IN THE TRUNK WHEN THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE, NONE OF WHICH EXITED THE TRUNK. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, DRIVE SHAFT AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEMS. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD, HESITATE AND WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR FAST ENOUGH WHEN CHANGING LANES. THE RIGHT PASSENGER POWER WINDOW WAS SLOWER THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPEN PROPERLY. UPDATED 05/25/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN LAYING ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEAD REST, IT WOULD FALL IN BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE HEAD REST HOLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAD REST WAS DESIGNED THAT IT COULD NOT GO ALL THE WAY DOWN AND CONNECT WITH THE TOP OF THE SEAT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 513.
VEHICLE ROLLS BACK AFTER I BEGIN TO ACCELERATE WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE THAT HAD THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM LISTED. VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 4700 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY FIXED IT BUT IT COULD TAKE UP TO 6 MONTHS FOR THE "ADJUSTMENT" TO TAKE PLACE. THIS DID NOT SOUND REASONABLE TO ME BUT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FURTHER. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU ARE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. *TR
ON-GOING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SHUDDERING/SHIFTING PROBLEMS THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING WERE "NORMAL" AND THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ADJUSTMENT PERIOD. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD SMOOTH OUT ONCE IT GOT USED TO MY DRIVING PATTERN. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I TOOK IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED TO GET USED TO MY ACCELERATION. DURING ONE OF THE VISITS THE DEALER DID REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND SEVERAL SEALS. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS BADLY, ON TAKE OFF, AND HAS BOGGED DOWN TO THE POINT THAT I FEEL UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE. I AM COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR
