LOSS OF POWER STEERING, WHEEL HARD TO TURN AND I HAVE TO USE MUSCLE POWER TO STEER
STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. LOST POWER STEERING WHILE BACKING OUT OF GARAGE. STOPPED THEN TURNED VEHICLE OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND THE FAULT WENT AWAY.
WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS OR SO, THE STEREO WILL EMIT A LOUD POP (WHICH IS QUITE ALARMING WHILST DRIVING) AND THEN GO OUT. IT IS NOW FOLLOWED BY WHAT CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS ELECTRICAL CURRENT RUNNING THROUGHOUT THE CAR AND SPEAKERS. THIS LAST SATURDAY, WHILE AT WORK, A CUSTOMER CAME IN AND ASKED WHO OWNED THE BLUE FORD FOCUS BECAUSE IT'S MAKING A WEIRD NOISE. I GO OUTSIDE (KEYS IN MY POCKET) AND SURE ENOUGH, IT SOUNDS LIKE ELECTRICITY RUNNING THROUGH THE SPEAKERS!! THE FOLLOWING DAY, IT DID THIS AGAIN (KEYS STILL IN MY POCKET). I PERFORMED A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR THIS ISSUE AND CAME UPON MULTIPLE SITES (SOME DATING AS FAR BACK AS 2015) DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE AND THE FACT THAT FORD IS UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO MY NEAREST FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED SO THEY COULD NOTE WHAT THE ISSUE MAY BE, ON MY DIME! TO WHICH I QUESTIONED THE VALIDITY OF THIS STATEMENT AS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE AND FIND IT RATHER ODD THAT FORD HAS NO KNOWLEDGE WHAT SO EVER REGARDING THIS ISSUE. MY MAIN CONCERN IS, WHAT POSSIBLE DAMAGE COULD IT BE DOING TO THE CARS ELECTRONICS AS WELL AS THE ALARMING POP WHILST DRIVING. ONE OF THE MAIN SAFETY FEATURES OF THIS VEHICLE WAS THE ABILITY OF HANDS FREE CALLING, BUT THAT FEATURE IS COMPLETELY RENDERED USELESS WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE WAITING FOR THE RED LIGHT TO TURN GREEN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE AND LOSE ACCELERATION. ALSO, THE "TRANSMISSION FAULT" MESSAGE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TEAM FORD/LINCOLN (905 BRADY AVE, STEUBENSVILLE, OH 43952) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH KIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JIM ROBINSON FORD (95 ROBINSON DR, TRIADELPHIA, WV 26059) WHERE IT WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK AND AS I WAS GETTING GAS YESTERDAY ( 8/8/2018) AFTER I COMPLETED PUTTING GAS IN MY CAR AND GO TO START THE CAR UP IT STARTED BEEPING AND THEN I GOT A MESSAGE THAT SAID TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW. SO I TOOK IT TO MY HOUSE AND NOTICED AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR THAT IT DIDN'T WANT TO SHIFT AS IT NORMALLY WOULD AND IT WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE GRINDING AND HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR AS WELL AS FROM UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER SEAT AREA. UNTIL YESTERDAY THE CAR HAS NEVER MADE THAT SOUND BEFORE AND I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 1 YEAR AND THIS IS THE FIRST PROBLEM THAT I HAVE HAD OTHER THAN NORMAL WARE AND TEAR. I ALSO GOT TO LOOKING AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL OF CAR. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING IT IS A ISSUE WITH THE POWERSHIFT THAT FORD HAS BEEN USING AND IT CAN CAUSE PEOPLE TO GO THRU ABOUT 3 TO 4 TRANSMISSIONS PER EVERY 3 TO 5 YEARS. I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY HARMFUL MALFUNCTIONING THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A RED LIGHT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL IT STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND STOPPED OPERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED PUNDMANN FORD (2727 W CLAY ST, ST CHARLES, MO 63301, (636) 946-6611) AND THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
VEHICLE COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING. REPLACED BATTERY VEHICLE STARTS BUT SHUTS RIGHT OFF ON ITS OWN. VEHICLE ALSO STARTED ON ITS OWN WITH KEYS JUST IN THE ON POSITION.
THIS CAR HAS A FAULTY POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION. IT HAS BEEN "FIXED" UNDER THE RECALL 4 TIMES AND NOW NEEDS TO HAVE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPAIRED OR REPLACED. FORD HAS 2 DIFFERENT EXTENDED WARRANTY CATEGORIES FOR THIS PROBLEM. ONE THAT COVERS THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND ONE THAT COVERS JUST THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THEY ARBITRARILY ONLY COVERED OUR CAR FOR THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, DESPITE HAVING WORK DONE ON THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THERE IS A MAJOR HESITATION/LAG. EXPERIENCE SHUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. ENGINE REVS, BUT TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE. STALLED IN MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN TCM FAILED. MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. ALL PAPER WORK HAS BEEN ATTACHED. TCM REPLACED AND CLUTCH REPLACED MANY TIMES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH AND STALLS AT IDLE AND LOW SPEEDS. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT FUEL TANK IS COLLAPSING DUE TO DEFECTIVE PURGE VALVE.
THE GAS GAUGE IS INCORRECT . NOW I CANT PUMP MORE THAN 2-3 GALLONS AT A TIME. I NOTICED YESTERDAY THAT THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING GAS. TODAY MY VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO WIRING ISSUES , AND IF THE FIRE FROM THE WIRES WOULD HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH THE LEAKING GAS , THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN FATAL.
ON THURSDAY AUGUST 2, 2018 AROUND 8:30. THE WIRES IN THE DASH BOARD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CARD BEGAN TO FILL WITH SMOKE. I COULD SMELL THE BURNING AND I WASN'T SURE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I COULD HEAR A SPARK SOUND AND I COULD TELL THAT THE WIRES WHERE BURNING. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, THE ENTIRE CAR MIGHT HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE , IF MY BOYFRIEND DIDN'T COME AND CONTAIN THE FIRE.

THIS IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE DANGEROUS AND PUT ME AT RISK DRIVING THIS CAR. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE TRANSMISSIONS. IT'S UNSAFE
I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH FILLING MY CAR WITH GASOLINE. IT CAN TAKE ME UP TO 20 MINUTES TO PUT $10 WORTH OF GAS IN THE CAR. THE GAS NOZZLE CONSTANTLY WILL CLICK OFF WHEN I AM FILLING THE TANK. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I AM DOING IT MANUALLY OR IF I SET THE GAS NOZZLE TO THE AUTOMATIC FEATURE. I HAVE TO CONTINUALLY DEPRESS THE NOZZLE TO FILL MY CAR AND IT CONSTANTLY CLICKS OFF. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, AND I WILL TRY TO HOLD THE NOZZLE IN DIFFERENT WAY, BUT IT NEVER WORKS PROPERLY.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that his vehicle would stall soon after filling up as the check engine light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle had been serviced prior to the failure under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V515000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). Both the dealer and the manufacturer have been notified of the failure and both informed him that they could not offer any additional service. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GARY SMITH FORD (1 BEAL PKWY NW, FORT WALTON BEACH, FL 32548, (888) 814-7437) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) REGARDING THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. UPON RETURNING TO THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL WAS DEEMED INEFFECTIVE AND THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE STEERING FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WE PARKED AT A GAS STATION FOR GAS AND WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, IT SHOWED "STEERING ASSISTANT FAULT" AND IT'S SO HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WE ALMOST CALLED SOMEONE TO TOW THE CAR. WE WENT TO A AUTO SHOP AND THE GUY SAID NOTHING CAUSED THIS, IT'S FORD'S PROBLEM AND WE NEED TO GO TO A DEALER'S TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR. WE WENT TO A DEALER AND IT COST 2100 TO REPAIR. AND IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY.
THE CAR ROLLED DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY WHILE PARKED WITH PARKING BREAK ON. THERE WERE NO KEYS IN THE CAR. WE WERE IN THE HOUSE WHEN IT HAPPENED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN MAY 2017. THE PREVIOUS OWNER JUST HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED WHICH COST HIM $700.00. HAD IT ONE WEEK AND IT RAN OUT OF GAS, WHICH ACCORDING TO THE GAUGES, I SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF GAS. MY SON CAME AND PUT GAS IN AND HE LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND NOTICED THAT MY GAS TANK WAS "DENTED IN." I JUST ASSUMED THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD HIT SOMETHING AND NEVER GAVE IT ANOTHER THOUGHT. WELL IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS THE "MILES TO EMPTY GAUGE" IS NOT ACCURATE AND I RAN OUT OF GAS AGAIN WHEN IT SAID I HAD 70 PLUS MILES TO EMPTY AND NOW THE GAS GAUGE IS INCORRECT WITH FLUCTUATIONS FROM A QUARTER TO THREE QUARTERS FULL. IM NOW AT THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO SET MY TRIP METER TO GAUGE WHEN I AM CLOSE TO EMPTY. I ONLY HAVE 80,000 MILES AND AM OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT FORD FIXES SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE FUSIONS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, BUT NOT THE FOCUS?? FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD, FORD ONLY ISSUES RECALLS IF THE GOVERNMENT FORCES THEM TOO!! THIS FIX ON THIS CAR WILL COST ME $3000. !!!!
MY STEERING GEAR HAS GONE OUT WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON CAR. I HAVE BEEN READING AND THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I ALSO ALMOST HIT A CAR DURING A TURN WHEN THE STEERING STOPPED WORKING. NOT SAFE AND IS A LEMON DUE TO ONGOING TRANSMISSIONS ISSUES AS WELL.
AT HIGHWAY SPEED VEHICLE STEERING BECOMES UNPREDICTABLE. AT TIMES THE STEERING WILL HAVE A 'LOOSE' FEELING WHERE INPUTS ARE MADE WITH NO RESPONSE CAUSING MORE INPUT TO BE MADE THEN SUDDENLY VEHICLE WILL TURN CAUSING AN OVER CORRECTION AND INPUT NEEDING TO BE MADE TO CORRECT THE VEHICLES PATH WHICH BASICALLY MAKES DRIVER SEESAW AT STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP VEHICLE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. OTHER TIMES STEERING BECOMES HARD TO MOVE OUT OF CENTERED POSITION CAUSING EXCESSIVE EFFORT TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL. ONCE MOVED OUT OF CENTER THE ABOVE MENTIONED FIGHT TO KEEP VEHICLES PATH STRAIGHT BEGINS. WHEN TRAILING BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY SEMI TRAILERS THE VEHICLE BECOMES EXTREMELY UNSTABLE CAUSING CONSTANT LEFT AND RIGHT STEERING INPUTS TO KEEP VEHICLE FROM VEERING OFF HIGHWAY. SMALL BUMPS OR ROAD RUTS WILL OCCASIONALLY CAUSE STEERING WHEEL TO SNATCH LEFT OR RIGHT. VEHICLE ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN CHECKED TWICE, TIRES WERE REPLACED, ROTATED AND INFLATION CHECKED. FORD DEALERSHIP AND INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP HAVE VERIFIED THAT THERE ARE NO WORN PARTS. FORD DEALER STATES ELECTRIC STEERING GEAR REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. I HAVE OWNED VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW (5 YEARS) AND THIS CONDITION HAS JUST STARTED WITHIN THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
THE CAR'S FUEL GAUGE WAS FLUCTUATING, CAUSING THE CAR TO RUN OUT OF GAS. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF (VERY DANGEROUS). IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND WE ARE TOLD THE FUEL TANK AND PUMP HAVE COLLAPSED. HOW CAN THIS BE A NORMAL THING? WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE REPAIR BILL YET, BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IT WILL BE $1000-$2000. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AND COVERED BY FORD!! THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR FOR OUR DAUGHTER TO AVOID THESE ISSUES.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE. DEALER SAYS I HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK AND HAVE A NEW ALIGNMENT - $2500.00 AND NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. CAR HAS ONLY 65,000 MILES ON IT.
FORD MOTOR COMPANY / BRIGHTON FORD, REFUSING TO COVER VEHICLE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH CAR FALLS WITHIN ALL PARAMETERS AND EXHIBITS NOT ONLY ONE, BUT BOTH CONDITIONS COVERED UNDER TWO SEPARATE PROGRAMS AT FORD, (14MO1 ? TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUTTER) AND (14MO2 TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT OR LOSS OF POWER) WITH ALL SYMPTOMS PRESENT. EARLY IN JUNE, MY 2013 FORD FOCUS (VIN- [XXX]) BEGAN EXPERIENCING A PERIODIC SHUTTER WHILE DRIVING. ISSUE PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. SOME DRIVING TIMES NO ISSUES NOTICEABLE, OTHER DRIVING TIMES SHUTTER APPARENT. AS TIME WENT BY, THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED INTO A GRINDING NOISE WHILE IT WAS SHIFTING INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. IN LATE JUNE I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (BRIGHTON FORD) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT, SCHEDULED FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT AT BRIGHTON FORD MONDAY, JULY 16TH. WHILE ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING HOME FROM WORK SUNDAY JULY 15TH THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD, THE TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW LIGHT APPEARED, AND CAR STAYED IN WHAT SEEMED TO BE A SLUGGISH MODE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT UNDER THAT CONDITION DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LEAVE IT AT THE OVERNIGHT DROP LOCATION TO BE LOOKED AT DURING MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT THE FOLLOWING MORNING. DID RECEIVE A CALL FROM SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX] MONDAY 7/16 ADVISING THAT WITHOUT ACTUALLY TEARING THE TRANSMISSION APART TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE, BEING UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO REPLICATE THE SHUTTER AND NO APPARENT LEAKS OR CONTAMINATION THIS ISSUE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR VEHICLE WITH THE DPS6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS TWO KNOW TRANSMISSION ISSUES: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 14MO1 - TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUTTER / TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT SEAL WARRANTY EXTENSION. THIS CAR'S FUEL GAUGE READS IN ERROR. CAR RUNS OUT OF GAS EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL GAUGE READS OVER 100 MILES TO EMPTY. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES BEFORE I REALIZED EXACTLY WHAT WAS HAPPENING. TWICE ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH. MY CAR JUST DIEDZ THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED AMPLE GAS WHEN THE CAR WAS NEARLY EMPTY. IT WAS VERY SCARY. TO SIMPLY HAVE THE ENGINE DIE AND COST THRU TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. MY CAR HAS ONLY 28000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME A SENSOR FAILED, THE TANK IS WARPED AND THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2300. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AS THE CAR IS OLDER THAN 5 YEARS.
EVAP CHECK VALVE (OR PURGE VALVE) STOPPED WORKING CAUSING THE PLASTIC GAS TANK TO BEGIN TO IMPLODE ON ITSELF. DAMAGING THE ENTIRE CANISTER SYSTEM. TO THE TUNE OF AN ESTIMATED $1,800 PARTS AND LABOR TO GET IT FIXED.
THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER WHATEVER THE PART WAS OUT TO 150K MILES. THE SECOND PROBLEM WAS THE RADIO/SYNC SYSTEM QUIT WORKING. AND AS OF TODAY JULY 7 A STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING IS COMING UP ON THE DASH. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THE PROBLEM DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING COMES ON WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE, WE HAVE NOT SEEN IT HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION.
FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS. GOING UPHILL ON A HIGHWAY A SPEED OF APPROX. 35 MPG, (NORMAL SPEED FOR AREA I WAS IN), HAD A HESITATION FELT LIKE I WAS LOSING ACCELERATION. ONCE UPHILL, PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AND PUT IN REVERSE TO TURN AROUND, CAR WOULD NOT GO REVERSE, WOULD GO FORWARD, INTO PARK AND NEUTRAL, BUT NOT REVERSE. SHUT OFF ALL ACCESSORIES (A/C, RADIO ETC.) PUT IN PARK AND TURNED CAR OFF. WAITED 5 MINUTES AND TURNED CAR BACK ON AND REVERSE WORKED. I HAVE FELT A SLIP AS SUCH ONLY ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS AND CAR CORRECTED ITSELF, BUT THIS TIME IT DID NOT, UNTIL I SHUT THE CAR OFF ALL THE WAY.

PRIOR TO THE SHUTDOWN, A VERY LOUD CRACKING NOISE WOULD WAS HEARD THROUGH SPEAKERS. ONLY AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON WOULD THE SERVICE RETURN. THE STOPPAGE WOULD OCCUR DAILY WHILE DRIVING, APPROX. 2-3 TIMES A DAY. I CHANGED THE BATTERY 4 WEEKS AGO AND ONCE THAT HAPPENED, THE FREQUENCY OF STOPPAGES INCREASED AND THE NOISE THROUGH THE SPEAKERS BECAME LOUDER. TWO WEEKS AGO, AFTER A VERY LOUD SCREECH, THE RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM CEASED FUNCTIONING. WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR IGNITION, THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM SCREEN WILL ONLY DISPLAY THE TIME AND DATE. NO USE OF RADIO, CD PLAYER, USB PORT AND BLUETOOTH.

FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO PARKWAY. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE MAIN COMPUTER HAD FAILED AND DRAINED MY BATTERY COMPLETELY. THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED. THIS WAS NOT A COMFORTABLE OR SAFE SITUATION TO BE STRANDED ON THE SHOULDER OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY FOR SEVERAL HOURS ON A VERY HOT DAY.

POWER STEERING RACK BEGAN TO FAIL, TOOK INTO SHOP AND AS THEY REMOVED IT TO REPLACE IT IT FELL APART. I WAS ADVISED BY THE SHOP THAT SHOULD THIS HAD FAILED ON THE FREEWAY I COULD HAVE DIED DUE TO HAVING ZERO STEERING ABILITY.

THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVE, BUT WENT OFF AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON.
