TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAILING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST INDICATOR HAD BEEN COMING ON AND OFF A DIFFERENT INTERVALS. WHEN I WOULD COME ON THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND GO INTO MANUAL MODE AND WOULD HAVE TO ME MUSCLED WHILE DRIVING UNTIL THE INDICATOR WHEN OFF. MOST OF THE TIME THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON A STREET IN A DENSELY POPULATED SUBURB NEIGHBORHOOD. THE INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO MANUAL MODE AND CRASHED INTO A NEIGHBORS CAR. FORTUNATELY ENOUGH NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE BUT BOTH CARS WERE DAMAGED. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR QUARTER PANEL OF THE NEIGHBORS' CAR THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND QUARTER THE TIE OUTER TIE-ROD IS SEVERELY DAMAGED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AND ATTEMPTED TO USE THE HORN, THE HORN FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IN FRONT OF THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT STAY IN. IT DOES NOT "BLOW" AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU HAVE NO SPEEDOMETER,HEAT OR GAS GAUGE,TURN SIGNALS, ECT. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A VALID SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN THIS FUSE DOES NOT ALLOW THE CURRENT TO GET TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THEN THE MPG READOUT RETURNS TO 30.7 IN LIEU OF WHAT WAS BEING SHOWN AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. ANYTIME YOUR SIGNAL LIGHTS WILL NOT WORK THAT IS A RECALLABLE SITUATION. I BELIEV FOMOCO KNOWS ABOUT THIS. ALSO THE STICKER ON THE DOOR JAMB IN REGARDS TO TIRE PRESSURE READS 30 PSI. RIGHT NOW I HAVE 30 PSI IN MY TIRES AND THE "LOW TIRE" LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON.WHEN I CONTACTED MY DEALER HE SAID TO PUT 35 PSI IN EACH TIRE TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. IF THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS WANTED MORE THAN 30PSI IN THEIR TIRES THEN WHY DOES THE DOOR STICKER NOT SAY SO AND ALSO THE TIRE BOOKLET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE APPROACHING THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HEAD ON. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A POLL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT REMAIN SECURED. THE CONTACT HIT HER HEAD ON THE WINDSHIELD AND FRACTURED HER WRIST. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE HESITATES TO GO AFTER COMING TO A STOP. IT JERKS SHUDDERS AND DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT HAS ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AFTER IT STOPS.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH ON A CITY STREET MY VEHICLE STALLED RESULTING IN LOSE OF CONTROL. THE FUEL VAPOR SEPARATOR MALFUNCTIONED ALLOWING FUEL INTO THE FUEL VAPOR CANISTER. ALSO I CAN NOT PUT MORE THAN 2 GALLONS OF FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE OR IT WILL NOT START. IT ALSO STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE HAD 48K MILES AT THE TIME. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION. OVER THE COURSE OF 107000 MILES THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED SHUDDING, LURCHING AND BAD SHIFT CHARACTERISTIC AND FRANKLY IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT HAS HAD IT'S CLUTCHES CLEANED AT 37736 MILES IN OCT 2014, REPLACED AT 38396 MILES IN DECEMBER 2014, REPLACED AGAIN AT 75874 IN FEBRUARY 2016 AND NOW IN JANUARY 2017 AT 107,XXX THE CLUTCHES AGAIN NEED TO BE REPLACED. FORD IS NOW LONGER WILLING TO COVER THE COST EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS CONSISTENTLY HAD ISSUES. THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND CLEARLY THE PARTS BEING USED ARE NOT UP TO THE TASK. WHEN THE CLUTCHING START TO FAIL, THE CAR LURCHES, SHUDDER ON ACCELERATION, SHIFT ABNORMALLY AND HAS A DELAYED ACCELERATION WHICH CAN LEAD TO VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. I WAS RECENTLY REAR ENDED WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PUSHED ON THE PEDAL (ALTHOUGH IT DOESN'T EXCUSE THE DRIVER BEHIND ME CARELESSNESS).
VEHICLE DOES NOT START WITH WARNING PARKING AID FAULT. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, IT STARTS BUT THEN STOPS. VEHICLE SHUDDERS FROM START, GEARS MAKE NOISES AND DOWN SHIFTS UNEXPECTEDLY.
STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THEN WHEN I HAD TO ACCELERATE TO TURN ONTO A HIGHWAY, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT WAS STUCK IN LOW GEAR. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN EXIT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH! RESTARTED MY CAR AND IT WORKED FINE. BUT THEN 5 MINUTES LATER SAME THING, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE.
I HAVE HAD MY PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FOR 1 1/2 YEARS AND HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH MY TRUNK POPPING OPEN RANDOMLY. IT OPENS ANYWHERE AND AT RANDOM TIMES. I'VE HAD IT OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, POTENTIALLY HAVING THINGS FROM TRUNK FLY OUT AND HIT ANOTHER MOTORIST. IT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT TWICE BY BAXTER FORD IN OMAHA, NE. THEY CAN NEVER SEEM TO FIND THE ISSUE OR HAVE IT "DUPLICATE" ON THEIR TIME. THIS DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2013 FORD FOCUS 2013 SE HATCHBACK. I'VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. DURING THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED TO STUTTER. WHEN STARTING AT AN INTERSECTION FROM A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE CAR STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE. AT SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT FOR EXAMPLE IT DOESN'T OPERATE WELL WITHER. IT BEHAVES LIKE SOMEONE IS LEARNING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR THE FIRST TIME. MY CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC. LATELY THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS GOTTEN WORSE. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER.
I WAS LITERALLY LEAVING THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR "SHUT DOWN ISSSUES AND SHUDDERING ISSUES" WHEN THEY SUPPOSEDLY COULDN'T "VERIFY THE PROBLEM" I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A FIVE LANE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION GOING 70MPH AND WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME AND TOWED MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY AT RIGHT NOW. THIS IS MY 5TH ATTEMPT FOR THEM TO FIX IT. *TR

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CLUTCH PLATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEARS WERE EXTREMELY SLOW TO CHANGE OVER AND SUDDENLY THE GEAR ENGAGED AND CAUSED A JERKING MOTION. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS RELEASED AND FRACTURED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED AT LEAST THREE DEALERS AND ONE OF THEM INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PART WAS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

WHILE IDLING, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE WAS FAULTY WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO MALFUNCTION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE ACCELERATING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS INTENDED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED VIOLENTLY AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VAPOR MANAGEMENT VALVE, CHARCOAL CANISTER, FUEL PUMP, AND FUEL TANK FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTAINS ONE OR MORE DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURING DEFECTS THAT CAUSE PROBLEMS AND UNSAFE CONDITIONS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, SUDDENLY LURCHING FORWARD, DELAYED ACCELERATION, AND SUDDEN LOSS OF FORWARD PROPULSION. THE TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY SLUGGISH SHIFT BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND GEARS AND THE UPSHIFT BOGS DOWN LIKE THE VEHICLE MIGHT STALL AND ERRATICALLY SHIFTING IN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR AS WELL,CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE TRANSMISSION DEFECT, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, BUCKING, KICKING, JERKING, HARSH ENGAGEMENT, AND DELAYED ACCELERATION AND LURCHING. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE THIS DEFECT CAUSES FATALITIES.
DRIVER'S DOOR CAME UNLATCHED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STREET. DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH BACK UNTIL BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE DOOR HAD TO BE HELD SHUT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. *TR
AT AN INTERSECTION, THE CAR SPUTTERS FROM A STOP AND SOMETIMES STALLS. LIKEWISE, AFTER RE-FUELING THE TANK THE CAR STALLS 2-3 TIMES IN A ROW ON IGNITION BEFORE STARTING AND STAYING ON. WHEN APPROACHING A STOP, THE CAR HAS SOMETIMES HAD THE OTHER DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS COME UP AND FELT LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL, WITH THE RPM GAUGE BOUNCING AROUND NEAR ZERO, BUT HAS NOT FULLY STALLED DURING DECELERATION (POSSIBLY DUE TO ME PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR TO PREVENT THE STALL). THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER THIS BEGAN. AT THAT TIME, THE FUEL GAUGE ALSO BEGAN TO "STICK," NOT MOVING FROM POSITION UNTIL THE CAR WOULD BE STOPPED AND RESTARTED, AND MIS-REPRESENTING THE NUMBER OF MILES LEFT BEFORE NEEDING TO REFUEL. I'M CURRENTLY AT A FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A PUMP, BUT NOTHING MORE AT THIS POINT. *TR

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON AND THE ENGINE LEAKS OIL. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS, SHUDDERS EXCESSIVELY AND LACKS POWER GOING UPHILL.

TIMING COVER LEAKS 1-QUART OF OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE FOR ALL 2012-2014 FOCUS'. FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT.
VEHICLE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND LURCHES. OFTEN, NOT BEING REACTIVE TO DEPRESSION OF GAS PEDAL. I HAVE BEEN LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION MULTIPLE TIMES WITH A CAR THAT WILL NOT GO, BUT RATHER SHUDDERS AND DOESN'T GAIN PROPULSION.
I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND HAVE ONLY OWNED IT SINCE JULY OF 2014. THE COMPUTER MODULE IN MY TRANSMISSION HAS ALREADY HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SHUDDERING, GEARS SHIFTING INCORRECTLY, AND EVENTUALLY DYING WHILE DRIVING. NOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP, AGAIN. THIS TIME FOR CODE P0456, WHICH RELATES TO THE PURGE VALVE CANISTER AND EVAP SYSTEM. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD SOMEONE RUN MY CODES. WHENEVER I PUT GAS IN THE CAR, IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES BEFORE MY CAR WILL START. I HAVE TO PUMP THE GAS WHILE STARTING THE CAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO ACTUALLY START. AFTER I GET GAS, THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES DIE WHILE I AM DRIVING...WHICH HAS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS WILL CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT FOR SOMEONE SOME DAY...MAYBE EVEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THE FUEL GAUGE ALSO STARTED READING INCORRECTLY AT THE SAME TIME. I WILL HAVE A 1/4 TANK OF GAS, BUT IT WILL REGISTER THAT I HAVE 3/4 FULL AND IS ONLY MOMENTARILY CORRECTED WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED MANY BLOGS AND FORUMS AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT MANY FOCUS OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS WITH THESE ISSUES. MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP RIGHT NOW AND I AM WAITING FOR THEM TO CALL WITH THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS. IT ISN'T RIGHT FOR FORD TO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE FAULTY CARS OUT THERE AND NOT PAY TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN RIGHT ON TWO OCCASIONS TODAY MY WIFE'S 2013 FORD FOCUS HAD NO POWER STEERING. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND AM VERY CURIOUS AS TO WHY FORD HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT? WILL SOMEBODY HAVE TO CRASH AND DIE FOR THE MOTOR COMPANY TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY? THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT AND THE FACT THAT WE PURCHASED IT PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW IT IS CONCERNING TO HAVE SO MUCH GO WRONG.

MY 2013 FOCUS TITANIUM ELECTRONIC RACK & PINION FAILED. IT OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. MIRACLE WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. 49,000 MILES. I HAVE NO WARRANTY.. MY RESEARCH SHOWS MANY WITH SIMILAR STORIES AND NO RECALL? THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.QUOTED $1800 TO REPAIR. SO THAT MY CAR WILL SIMPLY STEER? RECALLS HAPPEN FOR MANY REASONS AND TO THINK IT HASN'T HAPPENED FOR A SUDDEN LOSS OF A VEHICLES STEERING IN INCOMPREHENSIBLE. TO REPEAT, ALL WITHOOUT ANY WARNING. NO DASH LIGHT OR MESSAGE! I CHANGED LANES AT 60 MPH AND IT WOULD NOT RESPOND SO THAT I COULD MAKE THE NEEDED CORRECTION TO NOT CONTINUE IN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. GETTING IT SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER WAS PHYSICALLY DIFFICULT AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED(55MPH) ON A HIGHWAY, THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" CAME UP ON THE DASH SCREEN. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE STEERING WAS TIGHT TO TURN. WHILE TURNING TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE TIGHTNESS GOT WORSE. IT TOOK A LOT OF STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL. I ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, THEY SAID THE STEERING ASSIST WAS SHOT AND WOULD COST AROUND $1600 TO REPLACE AND REALIGN THE WHEELS. THEY INFORMED ME THE PROBLEM WAS NOT A RECALL ISSUE ALTHOUGH I SEE FORD HAS RECALLS ON VARIOUS OTHER MODEL POWER STEERING ASSIST UNITS. THEY NEED TO ADD THE FOCUS TO THE LIST. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A MONTH THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE LIGHT HAS COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND I LOST POWER STEERING. I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR TO RESET IT. THANKFUL I (AND EVERYONE ELSE) WAS SAFE AND IN A SECLUDED AREA WHEN IT HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY OR NEIGHBORHOOD COULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY.
PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY DELAYED SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR AND IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. CAN HEAR THE GEARS SLIP AND GRIND WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE LOWER GEARS ... ESPECIALLY GOING UP ANY TYPE OF HILL.COULD CAUSE A WRECK WHEN PULLING OFF A SIDE STREET TO MAIN ROAD OR WHEN GOING UP A HILL IT CAN'T ALMOST FEEL LIKE THE ENGINE IS GOING TO DROP OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AND THE CAR TO ROLLING BACKWARDS.

AS I WAS DRIVING THIS MORNING MY DOOR FLEW OPEN AND WOULD NOT SHUT BACK CLOSED, I CHECKED THE LATCH AND SURE ENOUGH IT WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSE NOR LOCK, I HAD TO TIE MY DOOR SHUT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR FOR IT TO REMAIN SHUT, THANKFULLY A CAR DID NOT HIT MY DOOR WHEN IT FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING,THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AN MY KIDS! SIDE DOOR LATCHING (SAFETY RECALL) STILL NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR TWO TIMES ALREADY SINCE OCT 2016 BUT THEY ONLY SAY THAT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 16 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN HIS CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED IN HIS HOT CAR TILL WE COULD GET THERE BECAUSE HE WAS UNSURE OF THE SAFETY OF THE AREA. A FRIEND OF HIS DADS TOWED IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID THE PURGE VALVE WAS STUCK AND CAUSED A VACUUM AFFECT ON THE FUEL TANK CAUSING IT TO CAVE IN AND THE FUEL PUMP TO BREAK. THEY WANTED $1400 TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND FIX THE TANK. AFTER CALLING FORD MOTOR COMPANY 2 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME, THEY COMPLETELY REPORTED THE INCORRECT INFORMATION TO THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYING IT WAS A DOOR HANDLE RECALL ISSUE. NOT TRUE AT ALL. THE SECOND TIME THE WERE GOING TO OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. SO WE WENT FROM HAVING TO PAY $1400 TO $900 TO NOW I HAD TO PAY $777. I EXPLAINED TO THEM HOW I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED HARM TO MY CHILD. IT CAN ALSO CAUSE HARM TO OTHERS THAT OWN THIS SAME KIND OF VEHICLE IF IT IS NOT CORRECTED. I ASKED THEM IF IT WAS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED BEFORE THEY DECIDE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SO THEY PUT A BAND AIDE ON MY SON'S CAR AND SENT US AWAY. I'M VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE WAY THIS MATTER HAS BEEN RESOLVED. I WANT MY MONEY BACK AND I WANT THIS PROBLEM TO BE FIXED SO OTHERS DO NOT EXPERIENCE THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS THAT MY SON HAS BEEN PLACED IN. PLEASE HELP GET THIS RECALLED.
THE DOOR NO LONGER LATCHED, THEY REFUSED TO FIX IF FOR 3 WEEKS. THEN FINALLY FIXED IT, WHEN I WENT MY SEAT BELT ALSO STOPPED LATCHING AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT, BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT STOPPED LATCHING. FOR OVER A YEAR NOW MY CAR HAS RANDOMLY STOPPED GOING INTO REVERSE, SHUTTERING WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT, HARD SHIFTING (OR SLAMMING INTO GEAR), LURCHING AND OR JUMPING FORWARD (OR BACKWARDS), SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR, FAILING TO ENGAGE IN A GEAR, AND ALSO HAS SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY/ FREEWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. MY CAR HAS 82,000 MILES ON IT AND IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT FORD REFUSES TO SAY ANYTHING IS WRONG. THEY DID REPLACE A SHIFT FORK, BUT THEY CLAIM THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. I GET THE TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT AND RANDOMLY A MESSAGE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING WILL POP UP AND IT TELLS ME TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND WAIT 5 MINUTES. I AM BEING CHARGED (BASICALLY TAXED) $500 A MONTH TO HAVE A CAR THAT I CANT TRUST TO TAKE ME ANYWHERE AND I REFUSE TO TAKE MY NIECE AND NEPHEW IN IT BECAUSE IT IS SO DANGEROUS TO OPERATE WHEN EVERY TIME I GET IN IT- IT DOES THESE ABOVE THINGS. I REALLY WISH THAT FORD WOULD STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING BECAUSE MINE IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I'M ANOTHER VICTIM OF THE EPAS POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY FAILING. IT FAILED ON SEPTEMBER 26TH, WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T BRING IT INTO A DEALERSHIP ON SEPTEMBER 30TH. TWO DAYS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. DESPITE THE WELL-KNOWN OCCURRENCES OF THE EPAS / GEAR ASSEMBLY FAILURES, THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION DATE, ETC., FORD STILL CHOSE TO REFUSE IT UNDER WARRANTY CARE. INSTEAD, FORD FORCED ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET WITH NO ASSISTANCE. THE WORSE PART IS IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT CHOSE TO FAIL IN TRAFFIC WHILE UNDER OPERATION AT LOW SPEEDS.
RECEIVED A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" NOTIFICATION WHILE MID-TURN TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. IT FELT AS IF I'D HIT A SLIPPERY SPOT IN THE ROAD OR HAD HIT A SMALL BUMP ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE. WHILE STRAIGHTENING OUT OF THE TURN, I NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN STEERING FEEL, AND STEERING IN GENERAL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. THERE WAS NO GRADUAL DECLINE IN STEERING PERFORMANCE, JUST A SUDDEN FAILURE. I CAN ONLY BE THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. I CHECKED THE ERROR CODES LATER AND NOTED THE FOLLOWING: U3000-49 (CONTROL MODULE: INTERNAL ELECTRONIC FAILURE), U3000-53 (CONTROL MODULE: DEACTIVATED), U3000-4B (CONTROL MODULE: OVER TEMPERATURE).
