TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT MALE CONNECTORS WOULD NOT CONNECT AND LOCK WITH THE FEMALE CONNECTOR. THE SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FEMALE CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE SPRINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED, LOST POWER, AND THE CLUTCH SHUDDERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RUSS MILNE FORD (24777 HALL RD, MACOMB, MI 48042, (586) 948-7700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR THE POWER TRAIN HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,050.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON AUGUST 12, 2016. I ASKED TO SEE THE CARFAX AND IT SHOWED NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. THE VEHICLE CAME WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE AT THIS TIME THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL OR THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION. WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE TO FAYETTEVILLE, NC FROM MY HOME IN MT. AIRY, NC, I NOTICED A DISTINCT SHUDDER WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED FROM GEAR GO GEAR. I WAS CONCERNED IF THIS VEHICLE WAS GOING TO GET ME TO MY DESTINATION AND BACK HOME SAFELY WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF BREAKDOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, PARKWAY FORD IN WINSTON SALEM, NC AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE PROBLEM EVALUATED. THEIR DIAGNOSTIC DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH NEEDING ADJUSTMENT WHICH THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF. I LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE CLUTCH HAD BEEN REPLACED. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT ASSURED ME THAT THIS WOULD SOLVE THE SHUDDERING PROBLEM AND THERE WOULD BE NO FUTURE PROBLEMS ALONG THESE LINES. EXCESSIVE REAR TIRE WEAR: THE VEHICLE MADE A TRIP FROM GREENVILLE TX. TO LOUISVILLE KY AND BACK (APPROX. 1400 MILES) IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016 (WITH HIGH AMBIENT AND ROAD TEMPERATURE). THE INSIDE SHOULDER OF BOTH REAR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN TO THE CORDS. THE TIRES HAD ONLY AROUND 5000 MILES WHEN IT BEGAN THE TRIP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER HERE IN GREENVILLE, AND HAD THEM TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT FALLS WITHIN FORD SPECIFICATIONS OF (-2.1 --+0.6 CAMBER.....TOE -0.01-+0.39). I CALLED FORD CONSUMER RELATIONS 800-392-3673 (CAS-10568914-W6X6B2 ON 9/16/16). TALKED TO JEAN (866-631-3788 EXT. 77727) EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM, AND SHE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO ALSO TOLD HER THE PROBLEM WAS AS I HAD DESCRIBED. SHE DID CALL ME BACK AND SAID THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY MONTHS HOWEVER, THE MILEAGE WAS ONLY 27111 AND HAD NEVER BEEN ON A LONG ROAD TRIP WITH THESE CONDITIONS. JEAN SAID THE CAR WAS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY AND THAT I HAD A TIRE PROBLEM. I SAID, "NO, JEAN, I DO NOT HAVE A TIRE PROBLEM, BUT FORD HAS A ENGINEERING PROBLEM BECAUSE THE ALIGNMENT SETTINGS ARE FIXED (CAMBER AND TOE IS NOT ADJUSTABLE)". I THEN CALLED CLINT (CENTRAL REGION FOR FORD) AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM, BUT ALSO HAD THE SAME CONSENSUS. AFTER THIS, I ORDERED A PAIR OF ADJUSTABLE CONTROL ARMS AND DECREASED THE CAMBER BY 1.5 DEGREES NEGATIVE, AND TOOK OUT OF EACH SIDE 1/10TH TOE IN (BOTH ADJUSTMENT STILL WITHIN FORDS SPECIFICATION RANGE). I DOCUMENTED TIRE WEAR BEFORE IT MADE A ROUND TRIP TO DENVER, CO FROM GREENVILLE, TX (APPROX. 1,640 MILES). UPON ITS RETURN THE WEAR WAS EVEN ACROSS THE TREAD. I AM WRITING THIS MEMO TO REPORT THAT FORD HAS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE EXCESSIVE REAR TIRE WEAR BECAUSE IN THIS CASE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE MADE ANOTHER ROUND TRIP FROM GREENVILLE TO LOUISVILLE WITHOUT HAVING TIRE FAILURE.
I DID A COMPLAINT BEFORE ON MY DOOR LATCH DRIVER SIDE MALFUNCTIONED AND WON'T STAY CLOSED. I AM DOING ANOTHER COMPLAINT BECAUSE NOW THE PASSENGER DOOR LATCH HAS MALFUNCTIONED. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2013 AND THE DOOR LATCHES SHOULD NOT BE MALFUNCTION THIS WAY . I HAD TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET TO REPAIR THE FIRST ONE NOW THE SECOND IS DAMAGED. CAR WAS IN MOTION IN RUSH HOUR HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AT SPEED OF 55 MPH WHEN ENGINE WENT TO NEUTRAL REVVING AND WOULD NOT MOVE. ALMOST REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS. CAR WOULD SHOW DRIVE ON THE LCD PANEL BUT BE IN PARK. YOU COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFTER EITHER. I HAD JUST LEFT (5 MINUTES) AN AUTHORIZED FORD SERVICE DEALER AFTER HAVING MY CAR TOWED THERE FROM A PREVIOUS OCCURRENCE AND EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE PEOPLE THE EXACT ISSUE AS ABOVE BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE AND SAID MY FOCUS WAS FINE WELL OBVIOUSLY IT IS NOT AND MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS ENGINE. TO BE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND YOUR COMING TO A STOP IS VERY DANGEROUS THANKFULLY I OR MY FAMILY WAS NOT HARMED JUST MENTALLY SHAKEN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN UNEXPECTED DOWNSHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE; HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO THE PART BEING ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000. UPDATED 01/11/2017*CT CONSUMER STATED CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2012 AND TAKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION, FELT LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OVER A WASH BOARD WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. IN 2/4/13 CONSUMER HAD A HEAD ON CRASH. UPDATED 6/22/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A QUARTER OF A TANK. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO A FUEL STATION AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE TO THE FUEL STATION FOR FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DEFORMED FUEL TANK NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
INACCURATE DISTANCE TO EMPTY & INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR. WHEN I PUT GAS IN THE CAR IT WON'T START UP AT FIRST, I HAVE TO RECRANK AND REVE UP THE ENGINE. WHEN I MAKE TURNS OR IDLE FOR TOO LONG, THE BATTERY LIGHT BLINKS AND THE CAR SHUDDERS, THE BATTERY IS NEW. ALSO MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) WITH ILLUMINATION OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
CAUSE: UNKNOWN. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT A NORMAL SPEED, WITH NO KNOWN DEBRIS OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD, I HEARD A LOUD POP. SUDDENLY, MY REAR WINDOW STARTED CAVING IN, CRUMBLING FROM THE TOP-MIDDLE OF IT, BREAKING OFF GRADUALLY FROM THERE. I WAS DRIVING SAFELY (NO SWERVING, NO COLLISIONS), AND LATER INSPECTION FOUND NO FOREIGN OBJECTS THAT COULD'VE CAUSED THE WINDOW TO SHATTER.
ONE DEC 24 2015 DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY MY CAR HAD FULL LOSS OF STEERING, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE PEDALS STOPPED WORKING AND I NEARLY CRASHED THE CAR. AFTER PULLING OFF THE FREEWAY I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. MOMENTS LATER I COULD START THE CAR, I RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT TO PROVE TO FORD THAT SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED. I THEN DROVE MY CAR WHICH WAS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR TO MY DESTINATION. THE STEERING WAS VERY HEAVY, THE PEDALS WERE NOT WORKING WELL AT ALL. AFTER LEAVING IT PARKED FOR 30 MINUTES I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE ILLUMINATED, BUT THE PROBLEMS HAD CLEARED. THIS FEATURE IS VERY DECEIVING, AS SOME MAY ASSUME THE CAR IS NOW SAFE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR, AND THEY SIMPLY REPROGRAMMED THE CAR. I CONTINUE TO THIS DAY TO HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, AND HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH ONLY REPLACED ONE TIME DISPITE BRINGING IT TO THEM CONSTANTLY FOR REPAIR. IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR MY CARS CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION FAILED, THE CAR SEEMED TO MAKE A LOUD ACCELERATION NOISE AND THEN BECOME FORCED INTO 1ST GEAR. THIS MADE STEERING HEAVY OR HARD, & THE PEDALS NOT WORK WITH THE USUAL WEIGHT ON THEM. I DROVE MY CAR TO FORD LIKE THIS, STUCK IN 1ST TO SHOW THEM FINALLY THAT THE WHOLE TIME I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. MY VARIOUS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS VEHICLE INCLUDE REGULAR ACCELERATION BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR, THERE IS THE STANDARD SHUDDER. IN ADDITION, MY VISITING FAMILY BECAME STUCK IN THE BACK SEAT WITH INDOOR LATCHES NOT WORKING - THE CHILD LOCKS WERE OFF. I FEEL AS THOUGH I WAS SOLD A "DUD" CAR & THAT THE SALESPERSON LIED TO ME ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. IF I HAD KNOWN IT WAS AN "ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED MANUAL CAR" I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED IT. NOW I CAN'T GET MY CAR APPRAISED, NO DEALER IS WILLING TO BUY THIS CAR FORM ME. KBB STATES MY CURRENT VALUE IS AT AROUND $9000 AND 12 MONTHS AGO I PAID $16000, CLOSE TO $17000 INCLUDING FINANCING
ON THE EVENING OF SEPT. 8, 2016 WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON LEE JACKSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY IN FAIRFAX, VA AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR, POWER STEERING FAILED WITH NO WARNING. POWER ASSIST CUT OUT AND A WARNING INDICATOR CAME ON. THIS RESULTED IN AN IMMEDIATE CHALLENGE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE AN ACCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR GIVEN THE IMMEDIATE, DRAMATIC INCREASE IN PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO STEER. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY RETURN HOME THAT EVENING WITH DIFFICULTY, AND I BROUGHT THE CAR TO TED BRITT FORD THE FOLLOWING MORNING. I WAS TOLD THAT A CONTROL MODULE HAD FAILED, BUT SINCE IT WAS INTEGRAL TO THE STEERING "GEAR" THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,600. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON RECENT FORDS WITH STEERING PROBLEMS, BUT MY MODEL, YEAR, AND ISSUE ARE NOT COVERED. THIS IS CLEARLY A WIDESPREAD SAFETY ISSUE. HAD A SMALLER ADULT OR A CHILD BEEN DRIVING, THIS EVENT COULD HAVE HAD A VERY BAD END.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR OPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS UNDERWAY AND LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY. WILL NOT CLOSE OR LATCH. LATCH MOVES SMOOTHLY BY HAND, BUT DOES DOT CATCH AND LATCH AGAINST FRAME MOUNTED PIECE, NOR DOES IT MOVE WHEN DOOR HANDLE IS OPERATED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT REVERSE PROPERLY. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, THE POWER STEERING REGAINED FUNCTION AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S MODEL TYPE WAS KNOWN TO EXPERIENCE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS FORD FOCUS.1ST PROBLEM I HAD WAS A YEAR AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING.I NOTICE BECAUSE MY CAR WAS PARKED AND IT SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE.2ND INCIDENT HAPPENED A YEAR LATER. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN CAR JUST SHUT OFF ON THE ROAD. I WAS SO SCARED.I WAS IN NOTION BARELY MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON RT 50.THAT WAS SO SCARY I COULD HAVE DIED.I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO GET SERVICED AT SHEEHY FORD. THEY GAVE ME THE CAR BACK AGAIN AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE ROAD ON MY WAY TO WORK. AT THAT TIME I TOWED IT AGAIN BUT TO KOONS FALLS CHURCH.LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING EITHER UNTIL I GOT UPSET AND THEY TOLD ME TO GO FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH THE MECHANIC AND IT HAPPENED WHILE ON THE TEST DRIVE. THE MECHANIC STATED TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING SO HE CAN PLUG IN THE MACHINE THAT READS THE PROBLEMS ON THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO STATED THAT ONCE YOU TURN OF THE CAR AND YOU TURN IT BACK ON THAT IT WOULD RESET IT SELF AND THAT'S WHY THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT TCM OR TMC CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS VERY SCARY FOR ME.NOW FOR THE PASSED 3 WEEKS I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A STATIC /POPPING NOISE /SOUND THAT COMES FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN I'M DRIVING & WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, THE KEY IS OUT THE IGNITION.I TOOK IT TO SHEEHY SINCE THAT'S WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THEY PROVIDE THE WORST SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE. BCUZ THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS AND DIDN'T PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER AND HAD THE AUDACITY TO TELL ME THAT THE MASTER TECH WAS ON VACATION AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT STILL WITH NO LOANER VEHICLE.THE RADIO IS COMPLETELY OFF AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT.IT HAS JUST GIVEN ME PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM IS MANUFACTURED PROBLEMS.I HAD SO MANY SAFETY ISSUES THAT SCARED ME.CAR SHUTTING OFF ON THE ROAD AND NOW MAKING LOUD POPPING/ STATIC NOISE WHERE I THOUGHT I MIGHT BE ELECTROCUTED.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE STOP WORKING IN MID WIPE. THIS MOTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY.
THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN BY ANYONE BUT ME. NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN HURT OR INJURED IN MY CAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WEATHER STRIPPING ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FAILED AND WAS REPLACED EVERY SIX MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE STRIPPING WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

RECENTLY, HOWEVER, DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, I WAS GETTING LOW ON GAS AND ABOUT TO GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT IN 2 MILES WHEN I SUDDENLY RAN OUT OF GAS. THIS TIME, THE DASH SHOWED 17 MILES UNTIL EMPTY. I WAS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC, CONSTRUCTION, AND 90 DEGREE WHETHER. I WAITED THERE IN THE HEAT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND 20 MINUTES FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR ITS 3RD RECALL (A SOFTWARE ISSUE) I ASKED IF THE FUEL ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL PURGE WAS A "COMMON" PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT NOT CONSIDERED A RECALL. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GET IT REPAIRED OR IT WOULD CONTINUE TO GET WORSE. I FEEL LIKE BEING STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY VEHICLE HAS 67K MILES AND WAS PURCHASED CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED FOUR MONTHS AGO. ON WEDNESDAY 8/17/16 I FILLED MY TANK, AND WHEN I TRIED TO START THE IGNITION RIGHT AFTER FUELING, THE CAR SPUTTERED BUT WOULD NOT TURN ON. AFTER A FEW MORE TRIES THE CAR TURNED ON AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF WITH NO PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WAS DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET, AND WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF EVEN THOUGH MY GAS GAUGE STILL SHOWED FUEL IN THE TANK. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PURGE VALVE, WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION CAUSING MY FUEL PUMP TO DELIVER TOO MUCH FUEL TO THE ENGINE, AND CREATED A VACUUM PRESSURE SO STRONG THAT IT WARPED MY TANK AND DAMAGED MY FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SENSOR, MAKING MY SENSOR THINK THERE WAS MORE GAS IN THE TANK THAN THERE REALLY WAS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW PURGE VALVE, A NEW EVAPORATOR CANISTER, A NEW FUEL TANK AND FUEL PUMP, TOTALING $2100 AND WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE EMISSIONS COMPONENTS ARE ONLY COVERED FOR 2 YEARS OR 25K MILES THROUGH FORD. THE PURGE VALVE MALFUNCTION IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN 2012 AND 2013 FORD FOCUSES YET A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED BY FORD, AND CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING TO PAY FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET FOR DEFECTIVE ENGINE COMPONENT THAT WAS NOT DAMAGED BY THE DRIVERS. CAN SOMEONE AT THE NHTSA PLEASE RESEARCH THE VAPOR CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID MALFUNCTION ON 2012-2013 FORD FOCUS? MY WIFE AND I WERE OUT FOR THE DAY, STOPPED TO HAVE LUNCH. WHEN SHE GOT OUT AND SHUT THE DOOR IT WOULD NOT LATCH, THE LATCH HAD BROKEN INSIDE AND WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. HAD TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT TO GET IT HOME. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, LUCKILY IT HAPPENED WHEN WE WERE STOPPED AND DIDN'T COME OPEN WHEN WE WERE IN MOTION.
My car has a transmission problem because when I run the car it goes from and back and is takes time to speed it feel like if I’m forcing the car to move I don’t run the car to much since I got it it has 48538 it also makes a lot of noise on the engine we noticed since we buy the car from car max but they say the car had no recalls. About June 2023 it started with more problems and I don’t like it much because my 19 year old daughter is driving my car for school. I would like if ford can fix the engine problem ASAP. MY CAR HAS 60K MILES AND EVERY SINCE DEALER COMPLETED WORK, MY STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN ONCE YOU FIRST CRANK THE CAR. AFTER IT IDLES FOR AWHILE, I CAN DRIVE OFF.
