RENEUE TO THE DEFECTIVE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION I WAS ALMOST IN A WRECK. I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES DUE TO A TRACTOR TRAILER COMING IN MY.LANE OF TRAFFIC. WHEN I APPLIED THE BREAKS SUDDENLY, MY TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT SAFELY MOVE AWAY FROM THE TRACTOR TRAILER. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY GAS PEDAL, THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. BECAUSE I HAD TO RAPIDLY APPLY THE BRAKES, MY TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP CAUSING ME TO ALMOST WRECK. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH MY FOCUS. PLEASE HELP M
HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE UNIT. ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING, TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AND NOT APPLYING POWER WHILE IN INTERSECTIONS, ISSUES WITH THE CAR CREEPING FORWARD. HAVE HAD ISSUES FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES ONLY FOR IT TO RETURN AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH OR TWO. ALSO HAD MANY OTHER ISSUES WITH CAR. THERE ARE MULTIPLE DATES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID ALL THEY COULD DO TO FIX THAT ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT FIXED. DATES FOR TRANSMISSIONS: 6/26/2015; 8/1/2015; 6/4/2016; 12/19/2016; 7/19/2019. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN (7/19/2019) I FOUND A LETTER SAYING FORD WOULD FIX IT REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY STATUS. THIS LETTER WAS INCORRECT AND THEY WANTED ABOUT $1,200 TO FIX (PUT A TEMPORARY BAND AID ON) THE SAME ISSUE I HAD BEFORE THAT REAPPEARED WITHIN A MONTH OF THEM FIXING IT.
MY CAR STALLED GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH UPON ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE REVVED TO THE RED LIMIT, AND WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. I WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GET MYSELF AND MY CHILD TO SAFETY BY ROLLING IN NEUTRAL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE CARS STALLING OR COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING YET THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THEM. MY INFANT WAS IN THE CAR! HAD I BEEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR SOMETHING THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE. ALL THE COMPANY WILL DO IS EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 100,000 MILES AND THEN WE AS CONSUMERS ARE SCREWED. BASICALLY THEY "FIX" IT UNTIL THE WARRANTY IS UP. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE OR SAFE IN ANY WAY.
MY 2013 FORD FOCUS HAS THE 2.0 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC, DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM. BUT WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR IN WARM TO HOT WEATHER, THIS CAR WILL GET YOU KILLED!!!!!!!! AFTER DRIVING AROUND 10 MILES AND COMING TO A STOP EVERYTHING IS FINE. BUT WHEN YOU GET READY TO ACCELERATE FROM THAT STOP THE CAR WILL BARELY MOVE. YOU CAN GIVE IT ALMOST FULL THROTTLE AND THERE IS NO POWER. ONCE YOU FINALLY GET ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WITH THE GAS PEDAL IT TAKES OFF LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL. IT ACTUALLY WILL SCARE YOU FOR A SECOND UNTIL YOU REALIZE THE CAR HAS TAKEN OFF. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED AFTER TAKEN OFF AROUND A CURB AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN NO GAS PEDAL. THERE IS NOTHING!! YOU CAN TRY TO FEATHER THE GAS PEDAL AND THERE IS NO RESPONSE, NOTHING AT ALL AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT TAKES OFF! MY WIFE AND I HAVE TO TRAVEL TO RALEIGH NC MONTHLY, AND THAT IS THE REASON I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE OF ITS FUEL MILEAGE AND FOR THE ROOM. AFTER MAKING ONE TRIP, I WILL NEVER DRIVE THIS CAR TO A EXTREMLLY BUSY TOWN AGAIN UNTIL IT IS FIXED!!!! I HAVE ALSO TOLD MY DAUGHTER IF WE GET KILLED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LAWYER LOOK INTO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND FORD MOTOR CO. BECAUSE THEY ARE AT FAULT!! AFTER GETTING HOME, I RESEARCH A COUPLE OF FORD FOCUS FORUMS THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY TYPE OF FIX UNLESS YOU BUY A CONTROLLER THAT PLUGS IN BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE ACCELLERTOR HARNESS
WHEN CLOSING FRONT PASSENGER DOOR CLOSES, DOOR LATCH WILL NOT KEEP DOOR SECURELY CLOSED. DOOR WILL OPEN ON THE SLIGHTEST PUSH AND WILL OPEN WHEN TURNING VEHICLE. IF PASSENGER IS NOT WEARING SEAT BELT OR IF SEAT BELT IS NOT FULLY PENSIONED, A PASSENGER MAY FALL FROM MOVING VEHICLE. ENGAGING DOOR LOCK WILL NOT SECURE DOOR. WITH LOCK ENGAGED DOOR WILL STILL OPEN WITHOUT RELEASE DOOR LATCH. DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE.
TRYING TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. THE SHIFTER DIDN'T ENGAGE BUT THE SHIFTING LEVEL MOVED. THE INFORMATION ON THE CAR SCREEN SAID THAT THAT HILL ASSIST ISN'T WORKING. THE SECOND TIME WHEN DRIVING IN A INTERSECTION THE SAME INFORMATION POPPED UP AND THE TRANSMISSION STALLED GOING NOWHERE. AFTER AWHILE THE CAR COULD MOVE AGAIN BUT ON THE WAY HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN . TODAY IT DOESN'T EVEN START ,TRIED IN THE MORNING AND IN THE AFTERNOON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION LOST DRIVE (NO WARNING LIGHTS) AND STARTED TO COAST WITH MY SPEED REDUCING RAPIDLY. I WAS FORCED TO CROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A STOP AND MOVED SHIFTER TO "P" BUT THE CAR'S INFORMATION SYSTEM SAID THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK. I PUT THE PARKING BRAKE ON AND CALLED THE TOWING COMPANY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A REAR BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,500. I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET AT ABOUT 15 MPH WHEN I NOTICED IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER THE CAR. THE STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS NOW DIFFICULT TO MAKE TURNS. IT FELT LIKE MANUAL STEERING FROM THE 1960'S. THERE WAS NO WARNING; IT JUST HAPPENED. I TOOK THE FORD FOCUS TO MY MECHANIC. HE PLUGGED THE CAR INTO THE COMPUTER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT. HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. HE LOOSENED THE BATTERY CABLES AND MADE A FEW OTHER INSPECTIONS. THE STEERING ASSIST LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON AND THE CAR RAN WELL. HAVING THE POWER STEERING GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING WAS SCARY. I'VE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY CAR. *TR
I OWN A 2013 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK THAT HAS TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH ISSUES. IT'S BEEN RECALLED ONCE AND REPLACED. BUT STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN START TO PUTTING GAS ON THE PEDAL THE VAN STUFFERS AND SKIPS GEARS UNTIL IT REACHES 3RD GEAR. THIS IS MAKING IT HARD TO DRIVE AND GAIN SPEED. IT ULTIMATELY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. BUT FORD WON'T REPLACE AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 2500$. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THEY KNOW OF BUT WON'T REPLACE MORE THAN ONCE. I ALSO CAN'T TRADE IN MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT'S WORTH 93% LESS THAN VALUE. THE CAR HAS OTHER KNOWN RECALLS THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE HAS LET GO FOUR TIMES. ONE OF THOSE INCIDENTS OCCURRED 24 HOURS AFTER THE MOST RECENT REPLACEMENT (LAST WEEK). THE CAR FAILS TO SHIFT, SLOWS DOWN OR STOPS WHILE DRIVING OR ROLLS WHILE THE CAR IS AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR ALSO FAILS TO REACH SPEEDS QUICKLY AND REQUIRES A LOT OF PRESSURE AND FORCE TO GET THE CAR EVEN UP TO 30 MILES AN HOUR MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS, ON-RAMPS AND EVEN GOING AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INCIDENT WAS NORMAL FOR THAT TYPE OF VEHICLE WITH A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER TO GET A SECOND OPINION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,500.
MONDAY JUNE 1ST AFTER CLEARING THE CODES FROM THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT 2 DAYS PRIOR AND TAKING A FEW SHORT DRIVES AROUND TOWN ON SUNDAY THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY SO MONDAY I DROVE TO AUBURN AT 5 AM AND HAD NO ISSUES. COMING HOME AT ABOUT 1:30 IT STARTED TO EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS FROM SATURDAY SO I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND WITHIN A FEW BLOCKS HAD INTERMITTENT NO POWER TO THE WHEELS, GIVING IT GAS JUST REVVED THE ENGINE, I MANAGED TO LIMP IT INTO A PARKING LOT WITH THE TRANSMISSION GOING IN AND OUT. HOOKING UP MY OBD2 COMPUTER I GOT THE FOLLOWING CODES: P2862, P2837, P2862 (AGAIN) AND P287B. I DID NOTICE ON BOTH DAYS IT FAILED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO SPORT/MANUAL SHIFT MODE. I ATTEMPTED TO CLEAR THE CODES AND THE P2862 WOULD NOT CLEAR AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS SO I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE. LATE IN THE 3 HOUR WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK THE CAR STARTED AND THE CODE SEEMED TO HAVE CLEARED, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD AND REVERSE IN THE PARKING LOT. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS SOMEHOW TRIGGERED BY HIGHER TEMPERATURE DRIVES BUT NOT THAT HIGH, AND AT LEAST A 20-25 MILE DRIVE. SATURDAY IT WAS ABOUT 73 DEGREES WHEN IT FAILED AND MONDAY IT WAS IN THE HIGH 60S. WHEN I DROVE TO WORK MONDAY MORNING IT WAS IN THE LOW 50S. ALSO WHEN IT FAILED I COULD HEAR MECHANISM IN THE TRANSMISSION SEEMINGLY TRYING TO SHIFT LIKE THE NOISE A REGULAR MANUAL TRANSMISSION MAKES WHEN SHIFTING, (GEARS AND LEVER ACTUATORS). THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN FORD WILL BE PROVIDING CLUTCH PARTS LET ALONE WHATEVER ELSE IS BROKE. I NOW BELIEVE THAT THE LATEST PROBLEM I HAVE HAVING IS WAY BEYOND THE CLUTCHES SLIPPING AND SHUDDERING LIKE MOST PEOPLE HAVE DESCRIBED. THIS PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SOMEBODY WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED WHEN THEIR FOCUS "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION" CAUSES THE CAR TO LOOSE POWER WITHOUT MUCH WARNING AND IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHY NO RECALL?
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION OF THIS VEHICLE, IT JERKS AND SOMETIMES ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO DIE, ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. I'M NOT SURE AS TO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THESE, THEY JUST NEED TO RUN MORE SMOOTHLY AND NOT SEEM LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO BREAK DOWN-WHICH IS HOW I FEEL ON A DAILY BASIS WITH THIS VEHICLE.

ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED HALL FORD ELIZABETH CITY AT 877-475-0723 (LOCATED AT 1310 N ROAD ST, ELIZABETH CITY, NC 27909) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THEIR FACILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally stalled while at a stop light and while decelerating. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the transmission, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 10,000.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED FIRST GEAR AND THE RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS REPLACED EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AUTOMATED MANUAL 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN EXHIBITING CLUTCH SHUDDERING FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS, DEALER ORDERED NEW CLUTCHES 3 MONTHS AGO AND ARE STILL ON BACK ORDER. SATURDAY MAY 30TH 2015 WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT MAKING A LEFT TURN AT APPROX 5-10 MPH THE RPM WENT TO AROUND 5000 LIKE THE CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING THEN STARTED SHIFTING EXTREMELY ROUGH AND RPM UP AND DOWN WHILE THE GAS PEDAL WAS HELD STEADY AT WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A LOW RPM STATE OF NO MORE THAN 2000-3000 RPM. WHILE AT CITY SPEEDS GOING UP A LONG HILL IT SEEMED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN 5TH OR 6TH GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT EVEN IN SPORT MANUAL MODE AND BOGGED DOWN UNTIL FINALLY WITH THE GAS HELD DOWN IT JERKED VIOLENTLY AND DOWN SHIFTED. WHEN PARKING SEVERAL MILES LATER IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THIS WAS A MODERATELY WARM DAY OF ABOUT 75 DEGREES AFTER A 25 MILE FREEWAY DRIVE, THE ENGINE WAS NOT OVERHEATING AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS GOOD. THE NEXT MORNING MY DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER (A CAN OBD2) DETECTED THE DTC CODES P2862 AND P2837 AND THE CAR IS APPARENTLY WORKING NORMALLY AFTER CLEARING THE CODES AND DRIVING AROUND THE BLOCK.
DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DOOR WILL NO LONGER STAY SHUT. THE LATCH TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSE WOULD NO LONGER LATCH IN PLACE, SO YOU COULD PULL THE DOOR OPEN WITHOUT ANY FORCE. WE HAD TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE.
I HAVE HAD MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED 4 TIMES BEFORE HITTING 100,000 MILES. AT 109,000 MILES IT BEGAN THE SAME PROBLEMS OF SHUTTERING UPON ACCELERATION, LOWER FUEL EFFICIENCY, AND STALLING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. TO SAY THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE IS A MAJOR UNDERSTATEMENT.
THE STEERING SEEMED VERY DIFFICULT THEN A MESSAGE ON THE MESSAGE BOARD SAID STEERING FAULT TURN ENGINE OFF.I HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD GARAGE WHO SAID THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED
WHILE TRAVELLING ON AN INTERSTATE IN THE PASSING LANE, THE CHECK ENGINE LITE CAME ON AND THERE WAS AN INSTANTANEOUS AND COMPLETE LOSS OF TRANSMISSION. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, RESTART CAR, AND HAD A COUPLE OF GEARS, BUT SAME THING HAPPENED 3 MILES LATER. FORD WARRANTY SIMPLY RESET THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER. ON 26 MAY, ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN CUT OUT; THIS TIME I HAD 2 GEARS AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO A DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSITION CONTROL MODULE (TCM). 2 TOTAL AND SUDDEN FAILURES OF THE TRANSMISSION, AND FORD ONLY RESETTING AND NOT REPLACING THE TCM THE 1ST TIME IS DANGEROUS TO ME AND MY FAMILY, AND IRRESPONSIBLE BY FORD. THIS IS MUCH MORE UNSAFE THAN THE AIRBAGS ISSUE. THIS IS THE 4TH CLUTCH ISSUE: 3 NEW CLUTCHES ALREADY PUT IN DUE TO THE SHUDDERING/JERKING ISSUE. BUT TOTAL LOSS OF POWER IS SIMPLY DANGEROUS.
I HAD ALREADY BEGUN NOTICING THE SHUDDERING AND LURCHES WHEN I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN MAY 2015. DURING THIS FIRST VISIT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE CLUTCHES, CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, SEAL, AND FLUIDS AS ALLOWED BY THE RECALL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO SERVICE IN OCTOBER 2015 AT WHICH TIME I WAS TOLD THIS PROBLEM WOULD NEVER BE FIXED, BUT THE CAR WAS 'REPAIRED PER RECALL 15B22B'. ON THE THIRD VISIT, IN DECEMBER 2015, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MAN THAT 'FORD CREATED A BAD TRANSMISSION, BUT ALL THEY COULD DO WAS RE-FLASH THE CONTROL MODULE AND THE CAR WOULD NEED TO RE-LEARN MY DRIVING HABITS'. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE INVOICE THE VEHICLE WAS RECHECKED FOR THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER, PASSED TEST, AND WAS REPROGRAMMED. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE COME ACROSS THIS REASONING FOR THE PROBLEM: 'TRANSMISSION FLUID IS LEAKING SOMEPLACE INSIDE AND GETTING ON ONE OR TWO OF THE CLUTCHES, THE OILY CLUTCH IS WHAT'S CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE HARSH SHIFT'. I'VE ALSO READ THAT AFTER NINETEEN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS, A RECENT BULLETIN ALLOWS THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO OPEN THE TRANSMISSION, FIND THE AREA THAT LEAKS TRANSMISSION FLUID ON THE CLUTCH, AND FIX IT. YET I'M STILL BEING TOLD THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

WE HAVE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING ON THE CAR. SOMETIMES WE START IT AND WE GET AN ERROR MESSAGE "ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION". WHEN WE TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART THE PROBLEM CLEARS ITSELF. LATELY IT HAS ADDED A NEW DIMENSION THAT CAUSES CONCERN. WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRICAL STEERING GOES OUT WITH THE SAME WARNING. WE NEED TO MOVE TO SHOULDER. PUT IN PARK AND TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART TO CORRECT. TRIPS TO THE DEALER HAVE BEEN UNFRUITFUL AS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.

THE DASH UNIT WILL CEASE TO WORK AND ALL SPEAKERS IN THE CAR WILL UNEXPECTEDLY EMIT AN EARSPLITTING, HIGH FREQUENCY SQUEAL. THIS SOUND IS INTERMITTENT WITH A LOUD CRACKLING AND POPPING WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE VEHICLE DOOR IS OPENED AND THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING, WHILE THE VEHICLE SITS WITHOUT ANY OPERATION OR IGNITION, OR AT ANY OTHER TIME. THE PIERCING SOUND HAS ONLY STOPPED BY REMOVAL OF FUSES IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FUSE BOX. THE ENTIRE DASH UNIT WILL NOT FUNCTION AND THUS DOES NOT ALLEVIATE THE NOISE. THIS SOUND HAS BEEN PRODUCED BY THE VEHICLE WHEN NOT IN MOTION, ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING, AND CAR HAS BEEN IMMOBILE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THE ABRUPT, DEAFENING SOUND IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DRIVERS REACTION.
MY VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED FROM APPROX 60 MPH- 20MPH IMMEDIATELY AND UNEXPECTEDLY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFICS. I TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT BACK UNDER CONTROL AND ALMOST RAN OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD RT. 7 TRAVELING NORTH TOWARDS WINCHESTER AND ALMOST WAS HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER IN THE RIGHT LANE IT LURCHED. I DECIDED TO TURN OFF N ABACK ROAD TO SEE IF THIS WAS JUST A,FLUKE AND IT SEEMED TO DO ITS AND OFF, BUT NOT AS ROUGHLY, REVVING UP AND DOWN AND SHIFTING UP AND DOWN, THEN WA FINE UNTIL I TURNED ONTO RT.81 NORTH TOWARDS INWOOD, WV. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE WAS SEEMS TO BE CONTINUOUS REVVING AND SHIFTING PROBLEMS, I DRIVE IT HOME AND HAD MY BEST FRIEND FOLLOW ME SLOWLY TO THE PARSONS FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. THERE IS A TRANSMISSION/COMPUTER PROGRAMMING ISSUE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF. I HAD THIS ISSUE IN THE FIRST 1000 MILES THAT OCCURRED ONCE IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE ON BAC CREEK VALLEY DRIVE, UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE, TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. I COMMENTED ON IT DURING THE 30,000 MILE MAINTENANCE AND CHALKS IT UP TO A GLITCH DURING THE NORMAL BREAK-IN PERIOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE LAST INCIDENT ALMOST RESULTED IN A POTENTIALLY FATAL CONDITION, HERE I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH AN 18-WHEELER AND OTHER VEHICLES. I DO NOT WANT MY WIFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND FEEL IT IS UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY RECALLED BEFORE ANYONE GETS KILLED AS A RESULT. DRIVING FROM HOME, MADE TWO TURNS WITH THE STEERING SOMEWHAT "GRABBING" BOTH TIMES, BUT AFTER GETTING TO MAINTAIN SPEED AT ABOUT 50 MPH IT SEEMS TO BE FINE, UNTIL I WENT TO MAKE A SMALL ADJUSTMENT IN DIRECTION, STARTED GETTING A STEERING FAILURE AND THE STEERING JUST STUCK, SO I TURNED HARD TO OVER CORRECT (LIKE YOU WOULD IN A CAR W/ NO POWER STEERING) AND SUDDENLY IT LET LOOSE, SHOOTING TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LANE AND GRABBED AGAIN AND REPEATED AGAIN. BY NOW IM STARTING TO GET CONCERNED AND SLOW DOWN, BUT THE NEXT TIME IT GRABBED COMPLETELY STUCK IN THAT DIRECTION AND THE ERROR CHANGED TO "STEERING LOSS", I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BEFORE VEERING OFF THE ROAD, AND THANKFULLY NOT FAR FROM HOME. HOWEVER, I WAS TERRIFIED, AND THANKFULLY MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR, OR WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR HOUR COMMUTE! NOW AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALER WE ARE UP FOR $1300 IN REPAIRS AND ONLY 8000 MILES OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY. NO CAR UNTIL THIS IS FIXED! The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle started shuddering. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as a stick shift despite being an automatic vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the dual clutch assembly; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the same part was replaced a total of 10 times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE OR RECOURSE.
TRANSMISSION CAUSES CAR TO CONSISTENTLY LURCH, SPUTTER, AND STALL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE FIRST THREE GEARS. IT'S ANNOYING, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, IT'S DANGEROUS ON HILLS, IN INTERSECTIONS, ETC. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S NOT SOMETHING I CAN "FIX," AS IT IS NORMAL FOR FOCUS MODELS IN MY YEAR. HARD TO BELIEVE.
AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED FOR LEAKS YESTERDAY AT RIZZA FORD, THEY TOLD ME A NEW CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS ORDERED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN. ON 355 THIS MORNING, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I CAN'T GET THE CAR IN REVERSE AND CAN ONLY DRIVE FORWARD AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL'S TRANSMISSION NATIONWIDE. *TR
UPON ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND MERGING INTO THE PASSING LANE TO PASS A SEMI TRUCK, CAR LOST ALL TRANSMISSION GEARS AND ENTERED "TRANSMISSION FAULT MODE" RESEMBLING A NEUTRAL TRANSMISSION SELECTION. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED TOWARDS A CLOSELY FOLLOWING SEMI TRUCK IN THE FAST LANE. THIS HAS OCCURRED TO ME, A FEW MONTHS PRIOR, AT AN INTERSECTION (FROM A STOP) IN WHICH I HAD TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK-THEN BACK TO DRIVE, WHICH SEEMED TO CALIBRATE THE COMPUTER IN SELECTING A GEAR (QUITE HARSHLY I MIGHT ADD) AND ALLOWED ME TO TRAVEL IN TRANSMISSION FAULT MODE UNTIL I REACHED HOME. IN THIS INSTANCE ON THE HIGHWAY, I ATTEMPTED PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL THEN BACK TO DRIVE, WHICH ONCE AGAIN APPEARED TO ALLOW MY TRANSMISSION TO ROUGHLY SELECT A GEAR AT A DECELERATING HIGHWAY SPEED AND SLOWLY REMOVE MY CAR OUT OF THE PASSING LANE OUT OF THE WAY OF FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC. UPON LEAVING THE HIGHWAY, I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND LEARNED THAT I HAD LOST ALL GEARS ONCE AGAIN. AFTER ROLLING SOME MANY FEET, IT ENGAGED INTO GEAR AND SLAMMED THROUGH MULTIPLE GEARS UNTIL I ARRIVED AT THE CAR DEALERSHIP, AT WHICH I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR. I LATER FOUND THAT THE CAR HAD LOST REVERSE CAPABILITIES AS WELL. THE DEALERSHIP SUBSEQUENTLY (4/3/15) REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) ON THE CAR FOR THE SECOND TIME AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR, THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY ON 4/6/15. NOW I AM AWAITING THE DEALERSHIP'S COURSE OF ACTION. AM TOLD WARRANTY WILL ONLY COVER THE CLUTCH AND TCM. TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. HAVE SPOKE TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TWO EXTENDED WARRANTIES ARE ALL THEY ARE WILLING TO PROVIDE FOR TRANSMISSION RELATED ISSUES. DETERMINED HORN WAS FAULTY AND RELAY/FUSE NOT THE PROBLEM - CALLED DEALER FOR APPOINTMENT. DEALER CONFIRMED HORN WAS INOPERATIVE AND HAD TO ORDER A HORN WHICH REQUIRED THAT I COME BACK A SECOND TIME TO HAVE IT REPLACED.
