I FILLED UP MY CAR WITH GAS AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON TO GET A FAILURE MESSAGE THAT MY EPS POWER STEERING HAD FAILED. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE, IT WAS VERY HARD TO TURN CORNERS OR TURN IT AT ALL. I TRIED DRIVING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ONCE THERE, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY $1,500.00 TO PAY FOR AN ENTIRE NEW EPS SYSTEM SINCE THEY CANNOT REPLACE JUST THE STEERING MODULE. I DON'T GET HOW I PAY FOR A LIKE-NEW CAR IN 2014 AND IMMEDIATELY INCUR A 1,500.00 BILL. *TR
CONCERN ABOUT MY SAFETY DUE TO THE LATEST REPORT: FORD KNEW FOCUS, FIESTA MODELS HAD FLAWED TRANSMISSION, SOLD THEM ANYWAY. MY CAR IS A USED FORD FOCUS 2013. TWO WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. FORD FIX IT, BUT NOW I WONDER IF IT IS SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK PLEASE SELECT (P)" MESSAGE APPEARED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY IN PARK. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
FOR THE 3RD TIME IN A 3 MONTH SPAN, MY 2013 FORD FOCUS SE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. THIS CREATED AN UNSAFE SITUATION WHERE I WAS STUCK WITH A DISABLED VEHICLE. 1ST FAILURE INSTANCE OCCURRED WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT 2ND FAILURE INSTANCE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65MPH) 3RD FAILURE INSTANCE OCCURRED WHILE JUST AFTER ENTERING A HIGHWAY AT APPROX 45MPH. *TR
BOUGHT ON 2/23/15 AND REPORTED PROBLEM WITH CAR HESITATING/SHUTTERING AT START OF MOVING AND AT STOPPING. SET UP APPOINTMENT. WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SUGGEST TO ME I WAS UNDER WARRANTY NOT TO WORRY. A WEEK LATER IT IS NOW SHIFTING HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND. I FOUND A LETTER FROM FORD TO PREV. OWNER ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM I'M NOW DESCRIBING. RECALL THIS VEHICLE B4 SOMEONE DIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY JERK WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH BEHIND A PICKUP TRUCK, I CAME OVER THE TOP OF A HILL AND DOWN TO BOTTOM WHERE ROAD IS FLAT AND WAS ABLE TO PASS THE TRUCK. I SLOWED DOWN TO 30 MPH WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE THE PASS (I HAD MY FOOT OFF GAS AND BRAKE BOTH). I COULD START THE PASS WITHOUT PUSHING ON GAS AT THIS TIME. I WAS BESIDE THE TRUCK WHEN I STARTED PUSHING ON GAS TO SPEED UP THEN INSTEAD OF UP SHIFTING, THE RPMS WENT UP AND ACTED LIKE I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I KEPT LETTING OFF GAS AND SLOWLY PUSHING ON GAS. THE TRUCK ENDED UP STOPPING IN THE ROAD BEHIND ME. I ALMOST HAD TO STOP WITH FOOT OFF GAS TILL THE TRANSMISSION CAUGHT AND I WAS FINE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT IT AFFECTED ANOTHER DRIVER AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. LUCKILY FOR ME, THE DRIVER STOPPED AND GAVE ME THE ROOM TO SLOW WAY DOWN. READING IN THE BOOK FROM CAR SAYS WHEN FOOT OF GAS IT SHUTS GAS FLOW OF FOR FUEL ECONOMY. SAVING MONEY ON GAS IS NOT WORTH GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT. IT LOOKS LIKE THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH DID NOT UNLOCK TO ALLOW FUEL TO FLOW. I HAVE ONLY GOT 28,643 MILES ON THIS FORD FOCUS AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PROBLEM.
POOR DURABILITY OF THE NEW OCCIPITAL WIPER BLADES ON MY 2013 FORD FOCUS. I LIVE IN CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA. THE WINTER WEATHER AND THE CONSTANT FREEZING AND EVEN ZERO TEMPERATURES HAS CAUSED THE FAILURE OF THESE NEW FANGLED WIPERS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HUG THE WINDSHIELD AND REMOVE WATER BETTER. THE CHEAP PLASTIC CLIPS THAT THEY ARE HELD ON WITH HAVE FAILED 2 TIMES NOW, THIS WINTER. I JUST HAD MY THIRD PAIR INSTALLED. I JUST BROKE DOWN AND WENT TO JIFFY LUBE WHO WHICH WILL REPLACE THEM FOR FREE WITHIN 3 MONTHS IF THEY FAIL. ONCE THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER BROKE OFF AND FLEW AWAY ON THE HIGHWAY FORCING US TO DRIVE FOR MILES WITH NONE. THE SECOND TIME IT JUST BROKE OFF DOWN IN THE CRACK BETWEEN THE WIPER AND THE HOOD. THEY ARE MOUNTED POORLY AND THE PLASTIC DOES NOT WITHSTAND THE STRESSES OF WINTER WEATHER OUTSIDE. I HAVE NO GARAGE. *TR

THE CAR STUTTERS VIOLENTLY WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, AND SOME TIMES STALLS. ALSO THE CAR WILL ON OCCASION GET STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE CAR STALL WHEN TRYING TO CROSS A BUSY STREET. BEEN INTO THE SHOP THREE TIMES STILL NO FIX, AND MY UNDERSTANDING IS THIS IS A RECALL AND THERE IS NO REAL FIX FOR THE PROBLEM
THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND MAKES NOISE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. WHEN ACCELERATING AT AROUND 15MPH, THE VEHICLE BOGS DOWN AND LACKS POWER. ENGINE OIL LEAKS ALSO.
PULLING FROM RED LIGHTS/STOP SIGNS IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION STALLING, SHUTTERING, GRINDING, ETC. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 2 WEEKS AND I AM BEYOND MAD THAT I TRADED A GREAT TRUCK FOR SOMETHING I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INPUT SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
2013 FORD FOCUS WAS GOING 35 MPH, SAW A LATE 1990'S FORD RANGER STOP SHORT IN FRONT OF A FIRE STATION AND TRIED TO BRAKE. COULDN'T STOP IN TIME AND REAR ENDED THE FORD RANGER. THE DRIVER OF THE FOCUS GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND TO SPEAK TO THE OTHER DRIVER AND THE ENGINE OF THE FOCUS CAUGHT FIRE ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER. FIREMEN WERE ACROSS THE STREET AND CAME OVER TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. WITH ALL OF THIS, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I CALLED FORD TO ALERT THEM OF THIS ISSUE. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND WITHIN 1 BUSINESS DAY I WAS CONTACTED BY CUSTOMER CARE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST AND WERE VAGUE ABOUT WHAT THE NEXT STEPS WERE AND HOW LONG THE PROCESS WOULD TAKE. WHEN I TRIED TO INQUIRE FURTHER, THEY SAID THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHAT MY INTENTIONS WERE. I MENTIONED WERE ARE NOT TRYING TO SHAKEDOWN AND SUE FORD, WE SIMPLY WANT ANSWERS.THE INSURANCE COMPANY, STATE FARM, TOTALED THE FOCUS AND THEY ARE WORKING WITH ME TO GIVE FORD THE VEHICLE, BUT FORD IS NOT COOPERATING. I HAVEN'T BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE SINCE THE ORIGINAL FOLLOW-UP AND WE HAVE QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE ANSWERED IN ORDER FOR STATE FARM TO GIVE FORD POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS STOPPED COOPERATED AND THEY HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WE ARE TRYING TO ADDRESS AND FORD IS DRAGGING THIS PROCESS OUT AS LONG AS THEY CAN. *TR
THE SEATBELT LATCH ON THE DRIVER SIDE MALFUNCTIONED AFTER MONTHS OF WORKING PERFECTLY. INITIALLY, IT LATCHED ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. LATER IT WOULD NOT RELEASE WHEN THE RELEASE BUTTON WAS PRESSED. FINALLY, IT STOPPED LATCHING COMPLETELY. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO RESTRAIN MYSELF USING THE PASSENGER SIDE LATCH. IT IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED BY MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. I COULD NOT FIND A RECALL ON THIS SAFETY FEATURE YET REVIEWING POSTS ONLINE, I CAN SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. THANK YOU. *TR

HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FAIRVIEW FORD SAN BERNARDINO. WERE I BOUT THE CAR. WITH TRANS PROBLEM UNDER EXTRACARE WARRANTY AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT. ITS BEEN 3 TIMES THAT I'VE TAKEN IT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW A NEW PROBLEM WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING WITH THE DASH AND RADIO TURNING ON BUT THE ENGINE. I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE PROBLEMS HAVE NOT BECAME A RECALL ISSUE. CANT TAKE IT TO ANY OTHER FORD DEALER BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE EXTRACARE WARRANTY. AND CHARGE ME A ARM N A LEG JUST TO CHECK IT AND KNOWING WHAT'S WRONG. I'M NOT SURE OF THE EXACT DATE OF THE INCIDENT, BUT I STARTED THE CAR AND SHIFTED IT INTO D (DRIVE), AND THE VEHICLE REVVED, JERKED, AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE THE CAR HOME CAREFULLY, PULLED IT IN THE GARAGE, AND WENT TO ADJUST IT BY PUTTING THE CAR IN R (REVERSE), AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I DID CALL FORD UP, AND THE PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" BUT SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS CAR THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS JERKED SOME, AND I HAVE HEARD SOME RATTLING IN THE TRANSMISSION/POWER TRAIN OFTEN. I DO NOT CONSIDER THESE GOOD SIGNS AS TO THE RELIABILITY OF THE 2013 FORD FOCUS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTINUE TO TRY TO REMEDY THE ISSUE UNTIL THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY TO HAVE ONE SINCE THE TRANSMISSION "SLIP" AND THEN CAR LOOSES POWER, SO THE DRIVER WILL ACCELERATE AND SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AGAIN AND YOUR CAR WILL MAKE A SUDDEN MOVEMENT. THIS CARS ARE EQUIPPED WITH A NOISY TRANSMISSION AND NOW SLIPS. I WISH I CAN RETURN MY CAR. MY FIRST CARS DID NOT REQUIRED ANY MAJOR MAINTENANCE OTHER THAN OIL, OIL FILTER, SPARK PLUGS (WHEN REMEMBERED) BUT NOW CARS REQUIRE ALL TYPES OF 'MAINTENANCE'. *TR
WE HAVE A 2013 FORD FOCUS AND WHILE WE LOVE THE CAR, THERE IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH WITH MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS (4 RENTAL CARS) TRYING TO RESOLVE WHY OUR CAR HAS BEEN STUTTERING AND JERKING IN LOW GEAR. WE HAVE YET TO HAVE ANY ANSWERS WITH THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS UNDER FULL WARRANTY PLUS FORD'S PREMIUM WARRANTY THAT COVERS AN EXTRA 500 COMPONENTS OF THE CAR. FORD HAS VERIFIED THE STUTTERING PROBLEM YET REFUSES TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE STUTTERING DOES NOT MEET "THEIR STANDARDS". APPARENTLY OUR CAR IS STUTTERING AT 170 RPM AND IT NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 250 RPM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO FIX IT. WHAT?! I ASSUME THEY CAN NOT PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN BECAUSE ALL OF THEIR TRANSMISSIONS DO THE SAME THING! WE WENT IN TO TRY AND SPEAK TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP ON THE ORGANIZATIONAL CHART. WE WERE GIVEN A SALESMAN (GO FIGURE) WHO WAS TRYING TO SELL US A FORD FUSION FOR DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE ARE PAYING NOW! WE HAVE NO WHERE LEFT TO TURN FOR HELP. PLEASE HELP US AND EVERYONE THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IM AFRAID OF MY FIANC ENDING UP IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR STUTTERS TOO MUCH AND WILL NOT GET ACROSS THE ROAD. *TR
EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IN THE CITY AND TAKE OFF THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AND SKIPS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A DUMP TRUCK TAKING OFF. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE AND LIKES TO DO THINGS ON ITS OWN. CURRENTLY STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES JERKING AND IDOLING WHEN TAKING OFF. WHEN MY CAR EXPERIENCED THE ELECTRIC PROBLEM WAS IN 2015 AND IT HAD ABOUT 30 TO 40,000 MILES ON IT BUT THE JERKING AND IDOLING HAVE ALWAYS OCCURRED AND I CHECKED THE RECALL BEFORE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WASN'T A RECALL.
WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR FROM WORK AND ON THE WAY HOME SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST THE POWER STEERING, WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND A WARNING TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE DISPLAY ON THE SCREEN STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM.
