WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. "STEERING ASSIST FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED." COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN WHEEL TO GET OFF THE ROAD. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER. *TR
CVT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS, KNOCKS, DELAYS THEN ACCELERATES. DIFFICULT TO PREDICT WHEN. SOMETIMES OK OTHER TIMES IT HESITATES UPON ACCELERATION. WHILE TURNING LEFT WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE SHUTTER AND DELAY. FORD DEALER SAYS TRANSMISSION IS NORMAL AND TO EXPECT THAT. THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS SAFE. *TR
MY FORD FOCUS SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING AND LURCH FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING WHEN I'M SLOWING DOWN OR ACCELERATING. I HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED ONCE AND NEED TO GO BACK AGAIN. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO GO WITHOUT A CAR BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN HAS MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER TRANSMISSION DEFECT. ALSO, WHAT PREMATURE INTERNAL WEAR IS THIS ALL CAUSING? WILL I NEED TO REPLACE PARTS BEFORE THEY WOULD NORMALLY NEED REPLACING OR FIXING?! I'M WORRIED THE CAR WILL BREAKDOWN OR THERE WILL BE A CRASH WHERE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT THE DEFECT AND CONCEALED THE INFORMATION AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS LAW SUITS OUT THERE FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE. I REALLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR ANYMORE. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE SPECIFIC DATE OF THE FIRST INCIDENT BUT I CAN FIND OUT FROM THE DEALERSHIP IF NECESSARY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY JERKED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH ON THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN SEPT 2013 BRAND NEW WITH 23 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NO MEDICATION DONE TO MY CAR, AND FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS I'VE NOTICED A SMALL MISS EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE. THIS PROBLEM STARTED GETTING WORSE AT TIMES MY CAR WOULD ACCELERATE WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE THROTTLE. ON 21 JUNE 2014 THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE AND STARTED TO STALL WHEN I AM IN NEUTRAL, AND THE THROTTLE IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, WITH QUITE OF FEW 2013 FORD FOCUSES EFFECTED THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEED TO BE RAISED. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT IF LEFT UNTREATED COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE LOSING THEIR LIFE. *TR
I WAS STARTING TO ACCELERATE UP A HILL AND THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER AND WAS REVVING AT A HIGH RATE AS THOUGH IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING. IT WAS SCARY. AFTER SHIFTING A FEW TIMES IT EVENTUALLY RECOVERED IN A WEIRD, SLUGGISH WAY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (TORRINGTON FORD, LINCOLN AND MERCURY IN TORRINGTON, CT) AND THEY "REPROGRAMMED THE PCM AND TCM TO THE LATEST CALIBRATION" AND CLAIMED IT ROAD TESTED OK. HOWEVER, THE CAR STILL SHUDDERED EXCESSIVELY AT TIMES WHEN SHIFTING, ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN TWO MONTHS LATER AND THE DEALER REPORT SAID "THE SHUDDER IS PRESENT BUT NOT BAD ENOUGH TO PERFORM ANY FURTHER REPAIR, CURRENTLY BELOW 250 RPM DIFFERENCE AND NO REPAIRS ARE NEEDED AT THIS TIME." A FEW MONTHS AGO I HAD THE SALESPERSON DRIVE IT AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED THE SHUDDER WAS WAY MORE THAN WHAT IT SHOULD BE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. HE SAID HE WOULD SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM UNTIL TODAY WHEN HE SENT ME A "HI, HOW'S YOUR CAR DOING" EMAIL THAT WAS A STANDARD BLAST EMAIL TO ALL HIS CUSTOMERS. I REMINDED HIM OF THE PROBLEM I AM CONTINUING TO HAVE WITH THE FORD FOCUS AND TOLD HIM I DON'T LIKE DRIVING IT. I HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM HIM YET. ACTUALLY THE CAR SCARES ME. SOMETIMES, LIKE YESTERDAY, THE SHUDDER LASTS A FULL 3 SECONDS. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE. FORD KEEPS SAYING IT IS SUPPOSED TO SHIFT DIFFERENTLY THAN OTHER CARS BUT NOBODY WOULD BUY ONE IF THEY EXPERIENCED THIS KIND OF SHUDDERING DURING TEST A DRIVE. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AT AROUND 7,500 MILES, MAYBE A LITTLE SOONER BUT I PROBABLY THOUGHT IT WAS MY IMAGINATION OR THAT I WAS ACTUALLY FEELING A ROUGH ROAD SURFACE. *TR
THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION STUTTER WHEN TAKING OFF.
FORD FOCUS ST (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) STALLS REPEATEDLY WHEN COASTING TO A STOP. ONCE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH WHICH IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. SOMETIMES THE IDLE DROPS VERY LOW (500 RPM) BUT DOESN'T STALL. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL). DEALER SAID WITHOUT CEL THERE IS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHCNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT COULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS LONG AS THE CHECK ENGINE SENSOR LIGHT WAS NOT FLASHING. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAIURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,787.
THE STEERING PROBLEMS STARTED NEARLY TWO MONTHS AGO. AT FIRST IT WAS A FAINT PULL IN THE WHEEL... I INCORRECTLY ASSUMED IT WAS A TIRE BALANCE ISSUE. THEN THREE WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED THE "PULL" WAS GETTING STRONGER, AND SEEMED TO COINCIDE WITH THE A/C FAN OR RANDOM LIGHT FAILING. TWO WEEKS AGO WAS THE WORST - I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SLOWED DOWN TO STOP AT A LIGHT. MY WHEEL WAS SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT; AND ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE COMING TO A STOP, THE WHEEL ALL OF A SUDDEN YANKED AN EXTRA FORTY DEGREES AND PULLED ME INTO THE TURNING LANE. AFTER GETTING BACK INTO MY OWN LANE, I NOTICED THAT THE A/C FAN ALSO QUIT WORKING. THE CAR HAS ALSO HAD RANDOM ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS/FAILURES. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 WEEKS NOW, AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE/RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE THERE IS A SKIPPING AND/OR SURGING, WITH AN ACCOMPANIED SHUTTERING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL THE CAR REACHES AS FAST AS 25 MPH. THIS DEFECT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ONE ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH TWO DEALERSHIPS TO TRY AND GET THE PROBLEM REPAIRED HOWEVER THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER FOR AS LONG AS 4 MORE WEEKS. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH VARIOUS SERVICE NOTICES ON IT. THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT IT IS DUE TO FAULTY SEALS THAT CAUSE LEAKING LUBRICANT. *TR
OUR CAR HAS ONE OF THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION AUTOMATIC CLUTCH SYSTEMS. WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2013 FOR APPROX. $26,000. WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AT ONLY ABOUT 10,000 MILES. THE CAR TO DATE HAS 68,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS OVER 20 TIMES WITH 6 NEW CLUTCHES AND SEVERAL OTHER ADJUSTMENTS. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE CAR WILL STALL AND START TO SPUTTER AND BUCK. SOMETIMES IT HAS NO POWER AND SOMETIMES IT SHOOTS FORWARD. ONE TIME IN PARTICULAR WE PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND HAS TO CROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC ON A LEFT TURN. THE CAR STALLED AND WE WERE ALMOST HIT, IT WAS SO CLOSE THAT I STARTED TO CRY AND SCREAM. THIS CAR IS A NIGHTMARE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS DIED BECAUSE OF THESE CARS. AS A REALTOR, BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF DEPENDABILITY, I HAD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR AND AM NOW STUCK WITH TWO CAR PAYMENTS BECAUSE THIS CAR IS WORTHLESS I CAN'T TRADE IT IN. PLEASE HELP. ALL OF MY LIFE I DROVE FORD AND QUITE HONESTLY I CANNOT IMAGING HOW CALLOUS FORD IS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THESE VEHICLES. PEOPLES LIVES ARE IN DANGER... PLEASE DO SOMETHING....
SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IS BEEN HAVING A LOT OF ISSUES WITH CHANGING GEARS,I CALLED AND FORD SAID IT WAS NORMAL.BUT I HAD AN INCIDENT IT WAS VERY SCARY EVERY TIME YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC AND THE CAR COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP, IF YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR IT GOES HARD AND FAST I ALMOST CRASHED THE PERSON RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.THE OTHER INCIDENT I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND HAD THE CAR ON REVERSE AND THE CAR ACTUALLY WENT FORWARD IT WAS VERY SCARY I WENT ONLY AND SEE MANY CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE TAKING SO LONG TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS MODELS IS VERY DANGEROUS THEY NEED TO AVOID ANY FURTHER INCIDENTS I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND I DON'T WANT TO PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN DANGER TO FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD BE AVOIDED. I REALLY PRAY AND HOPE THAT THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW THESE CARS NEED TO BE OFF THE STREET NOW. *JS
AS I WAS WAITING A TRAFFIC LIGHT MY ENGINE REVS DROPPED SO LOW THE ENGINE QUIETLY DIED. WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE FROM THE LIGHT I REALIZED THE CAR HAD STALLED AND HAD TO RESTART THE CAR. IT ONLY HAPPENED ONCE MORE IN THE NEXT MONTH AND A HALF, THEN HAPPENED THREE TIMES YESTERDAY. THE LAST TIME THE CAR STALLED I WAS GETTING READY TO MAKE A LEFT TURN THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT DURING THE RUSH HOUR COMMUTE HOME. THE CAR DID START UP AGAIN, BUT IT STRUGGLED TO TURN BACK ON AND SOME DASH LIGHTS FLASHED UP ME (I BELIEVE THE CEL FLASHED ON.) I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS WITH A DEAD CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AWAY BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
THE CAR IS EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT SHUDDERS AND BOGS DOWN AS I AM ACCELERATING, AND OFTEN LURCHES FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CAR MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN IN LOW GEARS, BUT I AM NOW EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS AT ALL SPEEDS, INCLUDING LURCHING FORWARD. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE, ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. I AM AFRAID THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE GRINDING OF THE GEARS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS OF MY VEHICLE. *TR
THE CAR STARTED EXPERIENCING VERY ROUGH SHIFTING PROBLEMS AFTER THE IT REACHED OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND IT STILL EXPERIENCING SHIFTING ISSUES, HESITATION, SURGING, SHUDDERING, VIBRATING. THE ONLY TIME THE TRANSMISSION IS SMOOTH IS WHEN THE CAR IS AT A CONSTANT SPEED AND IS NOT SHIFTING GEARS. I PURCHASED THIS CAR SO THAT I COULD HAND IT DOWN TO MY DAUGHTER. I'M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT WITH THESE ISSUES. IT IS NOT SAFE FOR AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER TO OPERATE. *TR
CAR TRANSMISSION WILL HARD SHIFT, OR SHUDDER AT SPEEDS AROUND 15 TO 25 MPH. THIS CAN CAUSE A DELAY IN SHIFTING AND IS AN ISSUE IN TRAFFIC AND/OR MERGING ONTO FREEWAY. THE CAR BEGAN TO START A DELAY IN SHIFTING AT HIGHER SPEEDS AROUND 24,000 MILES. *TR
JUNE 2014 - PULLED OFF THE MAIN HIGHWAY ONTO A SIDE ROAD. ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN, THE CAR STARTED TO SHUTTER SEVERELY BETWEEN THE 1-2 SHIFT BUT CONTINUED TO RUN NORMAL ONCE UP TO SPEED. WHEN I GOT HOME, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH PACK IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND REPROGRAM THE TCM AT 22,700 MILES. OCTOBER 2014 - CAR STARTED SHUTTERING AGAIN DURING 1-2 SHIFT AND HAD A RATTLE SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE TCM AGAIN. APRIL 2015 - RETURNED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE SHUTTER WAS GETTING WORSE. THEY REPROGRAMMED TCM AGAIN. JUNE 2015 - CAR SHUTTERED SEVERELY AND HESITATED AS I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO THE ROAD, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET REAR-ENDED. IT FINALLY SHIFTED AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE PCM HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED AS WELL AS THE TCM AGAIN, BUT THEY COULD NOT DETECT ANY SHUTTER. JULY 1, 2015 - CAR SHUTTERED FROM TAKE-OFF AT A STOP SIGN, THEN HESITATED BEFORE SHIFTING. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID NO SHUTTER WAS DETECTED BUT THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TCM AGAIN TO RELEARN HOW WE DRIVE. JULY 11, 2015 - 39,000 MILES. TURNING LEFT ON TO A ROAD FROM A STOP SIGN, THE CAR SHUTTERED, HESITATED AND JERKED BUT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. IT DID SHOW THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT THEN. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO KEEP FROM GETTING REAR-ENDED. CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO TRY AND GET THE CAR TO THEM. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TURNED AROUND, HEADED TO THE DEALER. THE CAR SHUTTERED THEN HESITATED AGAIN BEFORE SHIFTING. IT WAS ONLY SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 3RD THEN TO 5TH. AT THE DEALER, I HAD THE SERVICE WRITER DRIVE THE CAR WITH ME IN IT AND IT SHIFTED NORMAL, BUT THE CODE WAS STILL THERE. HE SAID SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE MAY HAVE RESET THE FAULT. THIS NEEDS RECALLED BEFORE INJURIES HAPPEN. RECALL NOW!

ALSO, THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND SHOOK WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. ALSO, WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE SLOWLY PICKED UP SPEED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PHIL LONG FORD OF DENVER (7887 W TUFTS AVE, DENVER, CO 80123, (303) 557-5913) WHERE THEY INITIALLY REPLACED THE CLUTCH; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MAY IT DROVE FINE FOR 2 WEEKS. THEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED HESITATING, SHUTTER NOISES, AND VIBRATING. I TOOK IT TO FORD 2 DAYS LATER IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. I'VE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REDONE TWICE ONE AT 58K THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 31K AND AGAIN AT 86K TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME SURGING, JOLTING, LOSS OF POWER IS STILL HAPPENING. FORD MOTOR CO. AND DEALERS ARE HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH. FORD MOTOR CO. WON'T RESPOND THEY TAKE MESSAGES IF YOU CAN ACTUALLY TALK TO SOMEONE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION WHICH IS CRAP. THEY NEED TO DISCONTINUE USE BECAUSE THE FIX IS NOT A FIX. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STOP FORD FROM PRODUCING UNSAFE CARS. AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, AT LOW RPM'S THE CAR WOULD STUTTER AND STALL. IT IS MORE PRONOUNCED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, I WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON. ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THE CAR STALLED LEAVING A GREEN TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR END. THE CAR FINALLY LITE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT 3 WEEKS LATER. DEALER CHANGED AN O2 SENSOR AND 4 DAYS LATER IN JULY CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" IN FIRST GEAR AS I WAS LEAVING A RESTAURANT. THE CAR HESITATED AND STALLED IN TRAFFIC, I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR OF THE CAR AGAIN. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE AN ACTUATOR CONTROLLING THE RADIATOR VENTS IS BAD, BUT THIS SHOULD NO HAVE CAUSED THE CAR TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. FORD HAS A TSB FOR A WIRING HARNESS PROBLEM, THE NUMBER IS TSB 13-9-7 THAT EXPLAINS THE ISSUES OF STUTTERING AND STALLING, BUT UNLESS 2 CODES ARE READ ON THE COMPUTER THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. THE PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON FORDFOCUSST.ORG WEBSITE. HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF CARS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. TRAVELING ON I-80 IN NEW JERSEY AFTER SLOWING/BRAKING DUE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC AHEAD AND SLOWING TO ABOUT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT THREE MINUTES WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MPH. AFTER SLOWING TO ABOUT 50 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR WAS VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED. SCHEDULED A SERVICE CHECK WITH FORD FOR JULY 8, 2015. BUT THE TECHNICIAN "COULD NOT VERITY CONCERN." WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND BEGIN TO ACCELERATE THE CAR STALLS AND JERKS RAPIDLY WHEN THROWING ITSELF INTO 2ND GEAR. ON 8/05/2014 I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN . THEY TESTED IT AND SAID THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY DO FEEL THE SHUDDER I AM STILL COMPLAINING ABOUT IT STILL FALLS WITHIN FORDS GUIDELINES AND IS CONSIDERED NORMAL, THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME IT WILL HAVE TO GET SO BAD THAT THE DASH JUST ABOUT SHAKES ITSELF LOOSE BEFORE FORD WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, LIKE REPLACE THE CLUTCHES. ON THAT VISIT THEY DID NOT GENERATE A REPAIR ORDER OR GIVE ME A RECEIPT PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. ON 6/24/2015 I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AGAIN WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT ONLY THIS TIME I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT BESIDES THE SHUDDER THE VEHICLE WILL NOW ACTUALLY BOG DOWN AND STOP MOVING RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION FOR A SECOND OR TWO AT TIMES WHILE ITS SHUDDERING. ONCE AGAIN THEY SAID THERE WAS ANOTHER NEWER RE FLASH AVAILABLE THAT MAY HELP THE PROBLEM SO THEY PERFORMED IT . THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS AND SLIPS AND ON LONGER TRIPS IT GETS TO A POINT WHERE THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN YOU TRY TO START MOVING IT WILL BOGG DOWN AND THEN IT WILL TAKE OFF AND JUMP SHUTTER WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID REBUILD THE TRANS IT RUN OK FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THE PROBLEM RETURNED WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND NOW THEY SAY THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR I CAN'T SEE HOW THIS CAN BE SAFE OR NORMAL TO DRIVE A CAR THAT JUMPS SHUTTERS AND WHEN YOU START OUT MOVING YOU CAN'T TELL IF IT'S GOING TO NOSE OVER AND SIT OR TAKE OFF MY WIFE IS SCARED TO EVEN DRIVE THIS CAR ANY MORE AND ALL FORD SAYS IS THIS IS NORMAL I HAVE TALKED TO SOME OTHER FOCUS OWNERS AND MOST OF THEM SAY THE SAME THING THAT THIS TRANSMISSION IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE
FILLING UP WITH GAS THE GAS PUMP TURNS OFF AFTER ABOUT EVERY 1/2 GALLON. SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE VENTING OF THE GAS TANK.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPAIRED OR PLACED 5 TIMES AND IT STILL HAS A SHUTTER IN THE CLUTCH. WHAT THIS DOES UPON TAKING OFF IT START SKIPPING SO YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT THRU THE INTERCESION
I WAS GOING TO PICK UP MY WIFE FROM WORK AS USUAL. I AM A VERY SAFE DRIVER ESPECIALLY AROUND CORNERS. I WAS NOT DRIVING MORE THAT15 MPH WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF. TO AVOID HITTING A PARKED CAR I HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. I WENT UP ON THE DRIVEWAY AREA. I HIT A CONCRETE WALL PORTION OR A DRIVEWAY. TOTALED THE ENTIRE FRONT RIGHT. AXLE IS BROKEN. AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED. SEVERAL MONTHS BACK THEY HAD TO PUT IN A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CAR IS JUST NOW 1 YEAR OLD. IT COULD NOT GO UP HILLS, PARK UP HILLS. TRANSMISSION WOULD TURN OFF. NOW IT ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. MY WIFE TOLD ME FROM THE BEGINNING THIS CAR IS A LEMON. I LIKED IT SO DID NOT WANT TO BELIEVE IT! NOW I HAVE TO. I AM STILL STIFF ALL OVER. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO FORD AUTO BODY AND MY DEALER. I HOPE THEY WILL BE HONEST ABOUT ALL THIS. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD BE MARKED BADLY BY MY INSURANCE OR HAVE MY PREMIUM GO UP WHEN THIS IS NOT MY FAULT. I HOPE FORD WILL AT LEAST HELP ME OUT WITH A NEW REPLACEMENT CAR FOR THIS LEMON THEY SOLD ME! NOW THEY WILL PUT THROUGH A CLAIM ON MY INSURANCE TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE WALL. I HOPE MY INSURANCE PREMIUM WILL NOT GO UP. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS WHEN FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND HAS MANY COMPLAINTS. THIS I WAS NOT EVEN AWARE OF! *TR
