CAR WILL SHOW "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ALL CONTROLS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THAT CAR DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE FAST LANE OR ANY LANE. THERE IS NO WAY TO MOVE THE CAR TO SAFETY ONCE THE WARNING ACTIVATES. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
CAR IS JUMPING AND SKIPPING WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP.
THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS ON ACCELERATION AT STARTS AND ON HIGHWAYS. IT FEELS LIKE IT'S THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER HOLMES TUTTLE FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 660 W AUTO MALL DR, TUCSON, AZ 85705, (866) 930-6255, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH FORKS TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER REPLACED THE CLUTCH FORKS BUT DECLINED TO COMPLETE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,711.
CAR SHUDDERS AND SHAKES AT HIGH SPEED. IT DOES NOT GO INTO GEAR AND RPMS ARE OVER 6500. I MUST STEP ON BRAKE TO GET CAR TO SHIFT GEARS. CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER ON FREEWAY TWICE AT 55 MPH. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED FIVE TIMES. CAR MAKES CRANKING NOISES IN REVERSE. CAR ROLLS BACKWARDS WHEN TAKING OFF BRAKE ON HILL AND WOULD HIT SOMEONE IF THEY WERE BEHIND ME. CAR MAKES CRANKING NOISES ON STREETS AND WHEN ENGINE IS OFF AND KEY IS TAKEN OUT OF CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LINDSAY FORD (11250 VEIRS MILL RD, WHEATON, MD 20902, (888) 457-7005) WHERE THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
52,000 MILES - 2014 FORD FOCUS MANUAL - WHILE RUNNING ERRANDS, DURING CAR STARTUP THE ERROR MESSAGE "POWER ASSIST MALFUNCTION - SERVICE REQUIRED." THE POWER STEERING WAS DEACTIVATED AND MADE VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER 5 MIN. THE ERROR MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND POWER STEERING CAME BACK. FROM OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES, THIS ERROR COULD OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AND SEEMS TO BE COSTLY REPAIR FOR A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE.
THERE HAD BEEN OVER 30 OCCURRENCES OF HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR NOT BEING ABLE TO PROPERLY SHIFT INTO THE RIGHT GEAR. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED 5 TIMES BUT IT HAS NOT FIXED THE SHIFTING. I'VE RAN INTO ISSUES AT STOP SIGNS AND STOP LIGHTS OF ALMOST GETTING INTO ACCIDENTS BECAUSE MY CAR WON'T PROPERLY GO INTO THE GEAR OR SHIFT CORRECTLY. MORE RECENTLY, 3 MONTHS AGO; MY CAR TURNED OFF AND WOULD NOT RUN BACK ON. WHEN TAKING IT INTO FORD THEY STATED THEY HAD NO REASON WHY THIS OCCURRED AND HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR ME.
THERE ARE TWO OPEN RECALLS RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM OF MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING MY FORD DEALERSHIP SINCE THE WINTER OF 2018 ABOUT HAVING THE RECALL WORK DONE. THEY HAVE NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME AND HAVE ONLY STATED THAT THEY WILL WHEN THERE IS A FIX AVAILABLE. AS OF THIS WEEK, 08/14/19, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. TOOK TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THEM RUN THE CODE. TWO CODES CAME BACK AND BOTH ARE RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE RECALLS IN QUESTION INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE CAN STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING, AND THIS INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN A COLLISION. THE CAR IS NOW NOT RUNNING AT ALL. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT FORD HAS TAKEN CLOSE TO A YEAR TO FIX THEIR ERRORS WHICH HAVE CAUSED THESE RECALLS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SAFETY IS A CONCERN.
I'M STILL HAVING DAILY SHUDDERING AND STALLING ISSUES, I HAVE TO BRING IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN.
VEHICLE SHUTTERS ALMOST STALLS IN FIRST GEAR BETWEEN 1000 AND 3000 RPMS AFTER 3000 RPMS CAR RUNS SMOOTH SHIFTS EASY ALMOST AS IF CAR HAS NOT ENOUGH FUEL OR TOO MUCH AIR , BUT ONLY WHEN CAR FIRST STARTS MOVING. CAR JERKS AS IF YOU WERE LEARNING TO DRIVE STICK SHIFT FOR THE FIRST TIME. COMMON FOCUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.
THIS YEAR AND MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR THE CLUTCH IN THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO CLUTCH WILL STALL AND SHUTTER. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD THE CLUTCH CHANGED 3 TIMES NOW WITHOUT RESULT. I AM CURRENTLY IN NEED OF THE 4TH CLUTCH REPAIR ON MY 2014 FORD FOCUS AND NOW I AM BEING TOLD BY MY FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IS " RECALL" PART WILL NOT BE COVERED AND IT WILL COST ME $1800 TO FIX EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED THE PAST 3 TIMES. NOW MY CAR IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE AS IT WILL STALL. MY CAR CURRENTLY WILL SHUTTER WHILE TRYING TO SPEED UP FROM 0-20 WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO PULL OUT SAFELY AND IT IS NOW NOT DOWN SHIFT PROPERLY AND THE WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN MY CAR FOR A WEEK NOW AND THIS IS MY MAIN MEANS OF TRAVEL FOR WORK TO SUPPORT MY FAMILY.
THE RADIO/ SPEAKERS WILL LET OUT POPPING, CRACKLING, AND STATIC AT VERY LOUD VOLUME AT RANDOM TIMES THAT IS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING AND CAN CAUSE THE DRIVER TO BECOME FRIGHTENED, SWERVE, OR LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE IS ONGOING AND HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A SHORT TRIP. EVEN WITH THE RADIO COMPLETELY TURNED OFF THE SYSTEM WILL STILL MAKE THE SOUND. IT WILL DO THIS AT ANY SPEED, IN ANY GEAR. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE, AS I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHERS ONLINE IN MY SEARCHES FOR A FIX COMPLAINING OF THIS ISSUE.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at 35-40 MPH, the suspension of the vehicle started shuddering. The contact veered to the side of the road and inspected the tires but could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred increasingly while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the transmission clutch was replaced. However, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact became aware of Ford Customer Satisfaction Program Campaign Number: 14M02. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module (TCM) needed to be replaced and reprogramed, and the transmission position sensor and the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. However, the manufacturer declined to cover the transmission clutch replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
DOWN SHIFTS AND STALLS OUT IN TRAFFIC WITHOUT WARNING.ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR AND THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAGERSTOWN FORD (1714 MASSEY BLVD, HAGERSTOWN, MD 21740, (301) 733-3673) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS 24237271. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TRIED SOUNDING THE HORN DUE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE RUNNING A RED LIGHT IN MY IMMEDIATE PATH. HORN WAS INOPERATIVE. BEING A SKILLED TECHNICIAN, I TROUBLESHOT THE ISSUE DOWN TO THE HORN ITSELF, AS BOTH THE FUSE AND RELAY WERE SERVICEABLE.
MESSAGE OCCURRED ON 8/8/2019 'TRANSMISSION OVER HEATING PULL OVER AND ALLOW COOLING'. I WAS DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON CLEMENTS FERRY ROAD, CHARLESTON SO PULLED OFF THE ROAD AT TRUVALUE HARDWARE. I HAD BEEN GOING INTO PALMETTO FORD TO SATISFY RECALLS OUTSTANDING. THERE WAS CONCERN WHEN I TOOK MY CAR INTO PALMETTO FORD WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR OTHER RECALLS. AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR FOR RECALL, I RETURNED FOR THE NEXT RECALL AND MENTIONED THAT THE CAR HAD BEGUN JERKING WHEN PULLING ONTO ROADS AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND ONLY BEGAN AFTER THE FIRST RECALL REPAIRS. THERE WERE A FEW TIMES WHEN THE CAR JUST SAT THERE NOT MOVING UNTIL THE JERK WOULD HAPPEN. MR. MOUNT AT PALMETTO FORD SAID THAT WAS HOW THE TRANSMISSION WORKED TO CHANGE GEARS. I WAS STILL CONCERNED AND TOOK THE CAR TO O'REILLY FOR DIAGNOSTIC READING. ATTACHMENT 1 IS A COPY OF THE MESSAGE ON O'REILLY'S DIAGNOSTIC SCREEN. THE TECHNICIAN SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN THAT MESSAGE BEFORE.

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT FROM A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED AND WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE A JUMP START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PACIFICO FORD (LOCATED AT 6701 ESSINGTON AVENUE, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19153, (877) 349-3923) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND TRANSMISSION CLUTCH NEEDED TO ALSO BE REPAIRED. THE FUEL TANK AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WERE REPLACED; TWICE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IT WOULD COST $947 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH. THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WAS INFORMED BY FORD IN 2017 THAT THERE WERE TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH MY MAKE/MODEL. TOOK IT IN TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID YES, THE CLUTCH OF MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED FIXED, WHICH THEY DID. NOW, 2 YEARS LATER, IT'S BROKEN AGAIN. THERE ARE COUNTLESS INSTANCES OF CLUTCH ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN MY MAKE/MODEL, HOWEVER, FORD SAYS THAT THE EXTENSION OF 10 YR/100,000 MILE IS ONLY FOR THE COMPUTERIZED PORTION OF THE TRANSMISSION. EVEN THOUGH CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH SINCE IT'S THE SAME ISSUE FROM BEFORE. THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME ISSUE AND I'M ONLY AT 66,000 MILES.
DOESN'T DRIVE OR GO IN REVERSE WAS AT A RED LIGHT IT DIDN'T WANT TO DRIVE OFF ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK
WHILE DRIVING MY RPM WENT ALL THE WAY UP TO 8 THEN THE ORANGE LIGHT HIGHLIGHTING D WAS BLINKING THEN MY CAR JUST STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. WAITED A WHILE AND TRIED TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN START. THERE WAS NOTHING WHEN I TURNED THE KEY. THEN I GOT A WARNING LIGHT THAT SAID TRANSMISSION FAULT. TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND IT SAID CAR WAS NOT IN PARK
TRANSMISSION JUMPS AND SLIPS RANDOMLY. NEXT DAY, IT'S FINE. IT'S GENERALLY BETWEEN 1-3 GEARS.

THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FAILED AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
RADIO MALFUNCTION. AFTER SOME TIME OF DRIVING, THE RADIO WILL BEGIN TO CRACKLE WHICH LEADS ALMOST UNBEARABLE POPPING WITHIN THE SPEAKERS AND HAS ALSO CAUSED THE RADIO TO STOP WORKING ALTOGETHER BUT STILL MAKES THE POPPING NOISE. POPPING NOISE IS SO LOUD THAT IT HAS FRIGHTENED THE DRIVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE DRIVER HAS EVEN MADE THE DECISION TO JUST REMOVE THE RADIO FROM THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT BEING FRIGHTENED AND JERKING THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY ALL OF THE TIME, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, WHETHER TURNED OFF OR RUNNING.
AT 11/25/15, 15,490 MILES FORD DEALERSHIP CHECKED VEHICLE FOR OUR COMPLAINT OF INCREASING HESITATION ISSUES AT ACCELERATION. FOUND NO CODES. SECOND REPORT AT 8/10/16, 22,896 MILES. WE TOLD DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION OR CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING. NO CODES. 3RD REPORT AT 8/29/16, 23,057 MILES-- DEALER REPLACED CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND SEAL KIT. AT ABOUT JULY 2019, 50,000 MILES SAME PROBLEMS RESURFACED. 8/6/19 FORD DEALER CONFIRMED CAR AGAIN NEEDS A NEW CLUTCH, BUT NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. CAR IS STUTTERING AT TAKE OFF FROM BUSY INTERSECTIONS, ACCELERATION RAMPS, ETC ALMOST CAUSING SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE A CLUTCH EVERY 25000 MILES. AFFORDABILITY IS ISSUE AND SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF AFFORDABILITY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LONG LEWIS FORD (2551 JOHN HAWKINS PKWY, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35244) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH CLUTCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST TWO YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
I HAD A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS COMPLAINT I'M FILING NOW . THE RECALL WAS FUEL DEFORMATION INSPECTION, FORD INSTALLED A FUEL VAPOUR SEP THE RECALL NUMBER IS 18S32. NOW THIS PROBLEM WAS ORIGINALLY FIXED 3/18/19 . IT IS 8/13/19 THAT I AM BACK AT THE SAME LOCATION FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WHICH INCLUDES LOW FUEL PRESSURE , THE GAS ISN'T GETTING TO THE ENGINE (CENSOR) AND THE CAR STOPS OUT OF NO WHERE WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY .
SHUDDERING, JERKING, FAILING TO ENGAGE FROM A STANDSTILL. THIS HAS CONTINUED FROM TIME THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY TO SEVERAL YEARS LATER. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE, AND NOW I HAVE GOTTEN A ENGINE SERVICE WARNING AND THE CAR HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING TO HIGHER GEARS.
MY CAR'S CLUTCH SLIPS. THIS IS A 2014 FORD FOCUS WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT HAS GIVEN FORD SO MANY PROBLEMS. IT STUTTERS AND JUTTERS AND MAKES ME WORRIED THAT IT WILL GIVE OUT IN AN INTERSECTION. TO FURTHER COMPLICATE THINGS, IT HAD A SALVAGE TITLE WHEN I PURCHASED IT, UNRELATED TO THE CLUTCH. SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE FORD HAS REPLACED THE CLUTCH, TRANSMISSION AND TCM. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE, THEN, 14000 MILES LATER, THE CLUTCH STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK IT BACK TO FORD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY WOULDN'T REPLACE THE CLUTCH BECAUSE IT WAS A "SALVAGE TITLE" AS IF THE RESTORED STATUS OF THE TITLE MAKES THE VEHICLE UNWORTHY OF REPLACING A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS SALVAGE THE LAST TIME THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING, THEY STILL REFUSED TO FIX IT. TO ME, THIS IS VERY MUCH A SAFETY ISSUE. THE LAST TIME IT GOT THIS BAD, THE CAR LURCHED AND BUCKED AND THREW AN ENGINE CODE, ALMOST STALLING OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. FORD SWEARS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, IT REALLY WORRIES ME. THIS STUTTERING AND JUTTERING OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING IN FIRST GEAR SHIFTING INTO SECOND. IT DOES IT MORE WHEN HOT, BUT OCCURS ALL THE TIME. THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH THAT WAS REPLACED HAD A 12K MILE WARRANTY, OF COURSE WHEN IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN, I WAS OVER THAT AMOUNT.
IMPARED STEERING/GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, TEMPORARY LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING RISK OF CRASH AND POSES AN UNREASONABLE RISK TO MY SAFETY. PLEASE SEE NHTSA # 14V514000 FORD RECALL # 14S18 .
PRIOR TO, THE CAR WOULD SHUDDER, ALMOST ROCK BACK AND FORTH AT SLOW SPEEDS EITHER IN THE PARKING GARAGE, PARKING LOTS, AT HOME. RECENTLY THE CAR HAD A ROUGH TIME TURNING OVER AFTER FILLING UP AT A GAS STATION. THE CAR SHUDDERED AND SEEMED TO HAVE A HARD TIME MOVING. ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAD HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY, HOWEVER, WHEN THE CODE WAS CHECKED IT WENT AWAY (P144A). WITH WHAT I WAS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE PURGE VALVE HAD TO BE REPLACED.
HORNS WERE REPLACED IN 2017 UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER'S SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HORNS. HORNS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY STARTING FIVE MONTHS AGO. HAD CAR IN FOR STATE INSPECTION TWO WEEKS AGO AND THAT DAY THEY WORKED SO CAR PASSED BUT SERVICE WRITER ADVISED THAT HORNS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE PART IS MORE THAN ONE YEAR OLD WHICH IS THE LENGTH OF TIME FORD WARRANTIES THE PART. I HAVE CHECKED ON THE FORD FOCUS FORUM (FOCUS FANATICS.COM) AND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. A HORN IS NOT A NORMAL "WEAR AND TEAR" PART AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER REFUSED TO EVEN CHECK WITH FORD TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PART EITHER AS A WARRANTY ITEM OR AS A "GOOD WILL" ITEM. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A SUBSTANDARD PART AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.
SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR IN 2014 I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. CLUTCH REPLACEMENTS. SENSORS. EVERYTIME GIVEN A DIFFERENT EXCUSE FOR THE SAME SHUTTER AND ISSUES WITH THE CAR STALLING. THIS LAST TIME THE CAR COMPLETELY HAULTED FROM GOING 45MPH ON A 4 LANE ROAD, TRASMISSION LIGHT FLEW ON, RPMS WOULD REV UP, BUT CAR WOULD BARELY CREEP. I WAS ALMOST SLAMMED INTO FROM BEHIND BEFORE I COULD SAFETY MOVE TO THE SLOW LANE AND TRAVEL TO A SAFE STOPPING POINT. YES THE CAR WAS STILL ABKE TO NAVIGATE, BUT THAT DID NOT MATTER WHEN VEHICLES WERE COMING UP ON ME DRIVING 45+MPH TO MY VEHICLE THAT STALLED OUT. I CALLED FORD. IT TOOK DAYS TO GET THE CAR BACK AND IT HAS BEEN RUNNING WORSE THAN EVER! TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY SLIPPING. A NEW CONSTANT SHUTTER HAS NOW DEVELOPED. THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES BEGIN TO MOVE FROM A STOP LIGHT, BUT DECIDE TO SUDDENLY DROP TO A CRAWL AND THE RPMS GO HIGH THEN AS IT CORRECTS THE RPMS NO LONGER ADJUST AND THE CAR NO LONGER FEELS IT IS AUTO SHIFTING CORRECTLY. ISSUES OCCUR DURING DRIVING, ON HIGHWAYS, AT STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS. WHEN GOING A STEADY SPEED WHEATHER IS IT 25 OR 65 THE CAR CONSTANTLY SHUTTERS ALL THE TIME NOW. THE TRANSMISSION OR CLUTCH SLIP ANYTIME ANY GIVEN DAY. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. WORSE MORE DANGEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NO HELP FROM FORD.
TAKATA GAS TANK RECALL: LAST YEAR AT 68,000 MILES I TOOK MY CAR INTO DEALERSHIP FOR GAS TANK RECALL. IT WAS REPAIRED AND THERE WERE NO MORE PROBLEMS UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK AGO. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 82,000 MILES ON IT. IT STARTED JERKING AND STALLING A LOT AND I REALIZED IN THE PAST WEEK I HAD STOPPED TO GET GAS EVERY DAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. I HAVE PUT A TOTAL OF $55 IN TO DRIVE 300 MILES. I STARTED NOTICING THE MILES TO EMPTY DROPPING RAPIDLY JUST DRIVING LESS THAN 1 MILE.I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHO DID NOT PERFORM A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND TOLD ME TO COME PICK THE VEHICLE UP, THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED A YEAR AGO. SO I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS PEOBLEM AND WAS TOLD I COULD ONLY HAVE THAT PROBLEM FIXED ONCE! THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD OPEN A CASE#CAS22299572 AND I WOULD HEAR BACK IN 1 BUSINESS DAY. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING AND I CAN'T GO TO WORK FOR FEAR OF THE CAR "BLOWING UP" ESPECIALLY WITH IT BEING 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE. WHILE DRIVING IN MOTION, I RAMDONLY GET AN ALERT THAT THERE IS AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION, WHICH THEN CAUSES MY CAR TO HAVE VERY LITTLE POWER WHEN ACCELERATING. IF I COME TO A STOP, THEN GIVE IT GAS, IT GOES EXTREMELY SLOW, CAUSING MY RPM'S TO SHOOT UP. MY TRANSMISSION IS HORRIBLE WHILE SHIFTING. ITS SPUTTERS, HESITATES, JUMPS, AND FEELS LIKE IT CANT MAKE UP ITS MIND ON WHAT GEAR TO GO IN. AND ITS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. THRE HAS BEEN 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHERE AFTER STOPPING FOR GAS, OR BEING AT WORK THAT I HAVE SHUT MY CAR OFF, AND WHEN I WENT TO START IT UP AGAIN, IT WOULDNT. IT WOULNDT EVEN TURN OVER. AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES, IT WOULD FINALLY START. WHATEVER IS CAUSING ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS, IS ALSO DRAINING MY BATTERY AS I HAD TO GET A NEW ONE AFTER JUST OVER 2 YEARS. THE PROBLEM RECURS CONTINUOUSLY. IF MY WARRANY POLICY DOESNT PAY FOR THESE AND FUTURE REPAIRS, ND FORD ISN'T PAYING THEM, I WILL EITHER HAVE TO HAVE THE BANK REPOSSESS THE VEHICLE, POSSIBLY SUED BY FORD FOR NON PAYMENT. WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL FROM 1-45 MPH THE CAR HESITATES TO GO AND THEN JERKS FORWARD. I TOOK IT INTO THE FORD DEALER WHO STATED IT WAS A BAD CLUTCH AND THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH. A MONTH LATER THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING WHICH RUINED THE CLUTCH AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. WITHIN 2 MONTHS I HAD TO BUY 2 CLUTCHES AND PAY TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was shuddering and vibrating while shifting gear. Additionally, while driving, the vehicle failed to properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated the transmission clutch had been replaced on two previous occasions. I PURCHASED A USED FORD FOCUS IN JULY OF 2016 FROM JOE MACHENS CAPITAL FORD IN JEFFERSON CITY, MO. IT WAS SOLD WITH A 100000 MILE WARRANTY AND HAD 20,725 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WITHIN 24 HOURS OF DRIVING IT HOME TO ROLLA, MO I STARTED NOTICING A SHUDDER AND SHAKE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. I WAS UNSURE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL DUE TO THE TYPE OF CLUTCH INSTALLED IN THE FORD FOCUS AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING. THIS WENT ON FOR SOME TIME AND GREW PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE SHUDDERING PROBLEM WHICH I LEARNED WAS ACTUALLY A CLUTCH ISSUE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN ROLLA TO HAVE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON 9/21/16. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED ON 2/8/15 AND REPLACED AGAIN ON 8/3/15 AT THE JEFFERSON CITY, MO DEALERSHIP. AFTER HAVING THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED IN ROLLA IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF WEEKS BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS BACK - SHUDDERING, JERKING, SOUNDS LIKE A CHAIN BEING DRAGGED UNDERNEATH THE MOTOR OR GRAVEL CRUNCHING, AND SOMETIMES, EVEN HAD THE CAR HESITATE OR COMPLETELY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION EACH TIME I EXPERIENCED THE ABOVE SITUATIONS. IT DOES IT UPON TAKE OFF, WHILE DRIVING, UP HILLS, PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, ETC. IT HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS DAY AFTER DAY EXCEPT FOR MAYBE HOURS AFTER HAVING IT IN THE SHOP. I DRIVE MY CAR FOR WORK EVERY DAY AND WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE IT BACK IN THE SHOP UNTIL JANUARY OF 2018 TO HAVE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED AGAIN ALONG WITH SOME OTHER RECALL WORK THAT WAS DONE AT THE SAME TIME. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE A SECOND TIME I WAS GIVEN A PRINTOUT OF OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POWERSHIFT 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP THAT WAS.
THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED ON MY FOCUS. THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START. IT WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. MY CAR WAS BUILT 7/14 WHICH FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL WINDOW WHICH ENDS IN MAY 20014. ITS MY FIRM BELIEF IT MAY VERY WELL BE THE SAME FUEL PUMP ISSUE THE OTHERS ARE HAVING. THE FACTORY RADIO SHORTS OUT AND FRIES PARTS OF THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO MAKE LOUD POPPING NOISES THAT SOUND LIKE GUN SHOTS. SCARING THE DRIVER. IT ALSO SHUT THE CAR OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION IS CAUSING PROBLEMS. MY 2014 FORD FOCUS HAD A HISTORY OF SLIPPING WHEN SHIFTING, BUT I DID NOT TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC UNTIL MY REGULAR MECHANIC NOTICED IT AND RED FLAGGED IT AS A CONCERN WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND PAID $160 TO RUN A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC OF THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. THE RESULT OF THAT DIAGNOSTIC WAS THE INTERNAL CLUTCH WAS BAD, AND I WOULD NEED TO DO A COMPLETE REBUILD OF BOTH THE CLUTCH AND THE TRANSMISSION, BECAUSE THE CLUTCH IS LOCATED INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, AT A COST OF $3,081.77. AFTER RECOVERING FROM STICKER SHOCK, I WAS TOLD IT WAS OK TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THE CLUTCH STOPPED WORKING AS THEY ANTICIPATED FAILURE IN THE LOWER GEARS. AFTER THIS INFORMATION, I REACHED OUT TO TWO TRANSMISSION REPAIR CENTERS FOR A SECOND OPINION, BOTH WHICH TOLD ME THAT FORD HAS BEEN REPAIRING ALL THE TRANSMISSIONS THEY HAVE SEEN WITH THIS PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. IN ADDITION, THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PURCHASE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS LISTED IN THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS BECAUSE FORD IS NOT SELLING THEM TO OUTSIDE REPAIR HOUSES BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF REPAIRS FORD IS MAKING ON THIS TRANSMISSION. TODAY THE CLUTCH FAILED AND I COULD ONLY USE THE LOWER TWO GEARS TO LIMP MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, AGAIN BEING QUOTED THE ORIGINAL REPAIR PRICE. THE DEALER SERVICE REP IS TELLING ME FORD IS EITHER REPAIRING FOR FREE OR SOMETIMES CREDIT UP TO 50% OF THE REPAIRS, MILEAGE DEPENDANT. WHEN I CALLED THE NUMBER THE DEALER PROVIDED, I WAS ASSIGNED CASE # CAS22256019 AND TOLD 0% WOULD BE CREDITED BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF A PROBLEM. IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS AN ON-GOING PROBLEM OF THE DRIVE TRAIN, ALSO THAT FORD IS NOT BEING UP FRONT ABOUT THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA NEEDS TO STEP IN AND WORK WITH FORD TO DEVELOP A CONSISTENT SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.
