TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, IT FAILED TO MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCED HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING AND SHUT OFF ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR UPON SLOWING DOWN AND THEN ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE JERKS AND SHAKES LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING ADEQUATE FUEL. THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TANK MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE WANTS TO STALL. I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I HAVE NOT NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN GOING IN REVERSE BUT ONLY WHEN IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THE OWNER DID NOT HAVE A MANUAL FOR THE VEHICLE. I STARTED DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN MAY 2019. THE ORIGINAL OWNER SAID HE HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE.
PURCHASED CAR IN APRIL 2019. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER A FEW TIMES NEEDS A WHOLE NEW CLUTCH
MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF RECALL NHTSA 18S32. MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT TUSCALOOSA FORD IN TUSCALOOSA, AL IN 2019. AT THE TIME I TOOK THE CAR IN MY GAS FUEL NEEDLE WOULD DROP TO EMPTY PERIODICALLY. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP, EVERYTHING APPEARED REPAIRED HOWEVER WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE NEEDLE DROPPED TO EMPTY. I HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT OF THE PARKING LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP. I RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD TO JUST CONTINUE MONITORING THE PROBLEM AND KEEP MY TANK HALF FULL. I CALLED TO CHECK ON REPLACEMENT OF THE GAS TANK ON 1/25/21, AS I HAD RUN OUT OF GAS BECAUSE LIFE GOT IN MY WAY AND I HAD FAILED TO MONITOR CLOSE ENOUGH. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THE DAY MY CAR WAS PICK D UP AND I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE MONITORING, THAT IT WAS DETERMINED I DID NOT NEED A NEW GAS TANK. THIS IS BULL!!! I HAVE MONITORED THIS PROBLEM FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND MY VEHICLE WILL OBVIOUSLY BE USELESS AS A TRADE-IN. I CANNOT BE THE ONLY PERSON THAT SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A NEW TANK UNDER 18S32 AND DID NOT. PLEASE REVIEW THIS COMPLAINT. I DO NOT RECALL THE DATE MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THIS RECALL SO CHOOSE MAY1, 2019.
AFTER THE RECALL "REPAIR" MY CAR BEGAN EXHIBITING THE ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. THIS SYSTEM CAUSED MY CLUTCH TO BURN UP AND NOW FORD WILL NOT REPAIR ISSUE. STEPPING ON THE GAS EITHER FLOODS ENGINE OR STALLS ENGINE. ISSUE IS ESPECIALLY NOTICED WHEN LEAVING A STOPPED STATE.
MY TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS WHEN STARTING TO MOVE WHEN TRANSMISSION IN WARM. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED ONCE AND THEY REPLACED SOME KIND OF RUBBER SEALS. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE BRAIN BOX FOR THE TRANSMISSION.
APRIL 25 2019 TO THIS DAY JULY 10TH 2019 IS WHEN EVERYTHING STARTED BREAKING DOWN OUT OF NOWHERE, I'M GOING TO WORK AT 6AM I NOTICE MY CAR STARTING UP ODD AND SO ON MY WAY TO WORK I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGH WAY AS I WAS ACCELERATING SOMETHING HAPPENED IN MY CAR THAT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND MY CAR BUCKED AS IF IT WAS HAVING TROUBLE TRYING TO REV SO I TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND MANAGED TO GET TO WORK BY DRIVING SLOWLY AND MAN WAS IT A SCARE. I ENDED UP LEAVING MY CAR OVERNIGHT AT WORK AND GOT IT TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SAYING MY RADIATOR WAS BUSTED ($260 OUT MY POCKET), LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE ABOUT ANY RECALLS AND SAW I HAD A COUPLE TO BE FIXED AND THAT'S WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO A LOCAL DEALER FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED MY CAR BUT WHEN I GOT IT BACK IT WAS JUST AS BAD AND I EVEN STARTED GETTING MESSAGES ON MY DASHBOARD ABOUT MY LID COMPARTMENT BEING OPEN MAKING ME GET OFF ON RED LIGHTS TO GET OUT AND CLOSE THE TRUNK. THEN MY SECOND TIME BEING STRANDED ON MY WAY TO WORK, SAME THING STARTING OFF MY CAR FELT ODD BUT THIS TIME I MADE IT TO WORK BUT AS SOON AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT MY CAR HAD FELT LIKE IT DIED AND STALLED RIGHT AS I WAS PARKING AND WHEN I GOT OFF AND LOCKED MY CAR IT STARTED MAKING WEIRD MECHANICAL NOISES, THAT'S WHEN I HAD TO GET IT TOWED THE NEXT DAY AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION MODULE, SO I GO ONLINE AGAIN AND SEE THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR MY EXACT PROBLEM. SO I TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER SO THEY CAN FIX IT BUT THEY TURN OUT TELLING ME I HAVE A HOLE IN MY TRANSMISSION AND THAT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT'S DUE TO THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING IT TO BREAK NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS ASKING 2,000-5,000 TO REPLACE. I'M SICK AND TIRED TO BE HONEST I'M ABOUT TO LOSE MY JOB FOR GOING IN LATE, I'VE PAID A MONTH ALREADY WITHOUT EVEN USING THE CAR I NEED HELP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PARK THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SMITH FORD (LOCATED AT 908 E OAK ST, CONWAY, AR 72032, (501) 329-9881) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,914.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle sputtered upon depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the clutch was replaced; however, the failure recurred two years later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the clutch was replaced for a second time; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair would be covered if the failure was related to the TCM. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
MY MODULE CONTROL TO THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, I PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACE. NOW MY CAR IS AT FORD BECAUSE THE MOTOR CLUTCH TO THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACE, THIS HAPPENED WITHIN A WEEK OF GETTING OUT OF THE SHOP FOR THE FIRST TIME. I CAN'T UPLOAD ANYTHING, CAR HAS BEEN AT FORD SINCE JUNE 20
MY 2014 FOCUS DPS6 TRANSMISSION UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION REFUSES TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR UNTIL IT HITS HIGH RPMS (AROUND 5000RPM), PAUSES, THEN LURCHES FORWARD SHIFTING UP INTO A GEAR WITH A LOW RPM IN THE 1000S CAUSING FURTHER ISSUE AND DELAY ACCELERATING. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING ON A CITY STREET, ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. WHILE IT DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, IT IS CLEARLY VERY DANGEROUS AS THE PAUSE AND SUBSEQUENT LACK OF RPMS HAS PLACED ME IN BAD SITUATIONS WHERE MY ABILITY TO REACT IS DELAYED AND I AM UNABLE TO RELY ON MY VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE CONSISTENTLY OR AS EXPECTED. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE MORE TYPICAL SHUDDERING AND DELAY DURING ACCELERATION NUISANCE WHICH IS COMMON AMONG THIS DPS6 TRANSMISSION. THE SUBSEQUENT SERVICE INVOICE IS ATTACHED, CAN ALSO PROVIDE VIDEO OF THE ISSUE.
WE GOT IN THE CAR AND TURNED IT ON AND ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OVER. EVENTUALLY IT STARTED AFTER A COUPLE OF TURNS OF THE KEY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PUT SHIFTER IN REVERSE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. ACTED AS IF WAS STILL IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. ONCE IN DRIVE HARD SHIFTING INTO SECOND AND THIRD GEAR AS IT'S DONE IN THE PAST. FIRST TIME THE TCM WAS REPLACED AND SECOND TIME THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. ALL WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME WITH THE TRANSMISSION ACTING UP. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE! UNFORTUNATELY IT'S THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE AND IS MY FAMILIES TRANSPORTATION. SHOULD BE MY SECOND COMPLAINT. FIRST TIME WAS THROUGH FORD MOTOR COMPANY OVER THE PHONE.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP OR FROM A SLOW SPEED. REPAIRS WERE MADE UNDER WARRANTY A FEW TIMES. ISSUE HAS RETURNED BUT FORD IS SAYING CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO WE MUST PAY FOR REPAIRS. THERE IS A RECALL 14M01 THAT EXTENDS WARRANTY ON TRANSMISSION FOR OUR YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, SYMPTOM,AND TRANSMISSION BUT FORD SAYS OUR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHY IT'S NOT INCLUDED, JUST THAT IT IS NOT. CAR HAS 51,000 MILES ON IT, AND REQUIRES ITS 4TH TRANSMISSION REPAIR. DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD US THAT OUR CAR HAS SAME PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION THAT MANY FORD FOCUSES HAVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, INDICATING TO WAIT FIVE MINUTES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR REPRODUCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. JOE MYERS FORD (LOCATED AT 16634 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77040, (713) 766-3600) WAS CONTACTED VIA TELEPHONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
UPON "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ILLUMINATION, I TOOK CAR TO GARAGE TO HAVE CODES READ. THEY SHOWED ME WHAT THEY BELIEVED TO BE THE ISSUE AND SAID I SHOULD CHECK WITH FORD FOR RECALLS OR COMPENSATION TO HAVE WHAT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT FIXED. I GOOGLED MY SITUATION AND WAS STUNNED TO SEE HOW COMMON A PROBLEM IT IS. ONE EXAMPLE OF THIS CAN BE FOUND AT: HTTPS://WWW.FOCUSFANATICS.COM/FORUM/MK3-FOCUS/517737-TSB-14-0215-CHAFING-WIRING-HARNESS.HTML. IN MY SITUATION THE WIRE HARNESS HAS CUT THROUGH FROM RUBBING ON THE MANIFOLD AND THERE IS OBVIOUS CORROSION TO THE WIRING. THIS CAUSES SPORADIC LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND HAS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO NOT START UPON TWO OCCASIONS. LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHEN TRAVELING CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ACCIDENT CAUSING. AND THE COST TO FIX THIS MANUFACTURING FLAW SEEMS DEPENDENT ON HOW MANY WIRES ARE INVOLVED, AND IF ANY CIRCUITS WERE ACTUALLY FRIED AND NON-WORKING AS A RESULT OF THE WIRING ISSUE. I WAS QUOTED UPWARDS OF $1000 FOR THE FULL WIRING HARNESS ALONE WITH NO LABOR (WORSE CASE SCENARIO). I AM ALSO UNABLE TO PASS NYS INSPECTION UNTIL THE ISSUE IS FIXED AND THE CODES ARE CLEARED. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A REPRESENTATIVE FROM FORD AND WAS INFORMED THAT NO PROGRAMS ARE IN PLACE AT THIS TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. FORD HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN AWARE OF THIS FLAW FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. IF I HAD BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY CORRECTED BEFORE IT BECAME DESTRUCTIVE AND DANGEROUS AND A MAJOR REPAIR JOB. I FEEL IGNORING THIS ISSUE IS NEGLIGENT ON THE PART OF FORD.
THE VEHICLE IS HAVING HARD JERKING/SHUTTERING DUE TO A CLUTCH MALFUNCTION DURING FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. FOR A WHILE I'VE HAD THE SAME JERKING (SOMETIMES VERY BAD) THAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS HAD DUE TO A CLUTCH MALFUNCTION. I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR THE RECALL FROM FORD AND WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE CLUTCH FIXED THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT I WAS NOT ELIGIBLE DUE TO HAVING A BRANDED TITLE. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED UP MY VIN NUMBER WHEN I WAS MAKING AN APPOINTMENT AND PROCEEDED TO TELL ME AFTER I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AND THEY HAD IT FOR THE WHOLE DAY.THE REASON MY CAR IS A BRANDED TITLE IS DUE TO COSMETIC DAMAGE, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR. ALL OF THE PARTS ON THE CAR ARE THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURED PARTS. THIS BEING SAID, I'M HAVING A CONCERN THAT EVEN THOUGH THE CLUTCH IS THE EXACT SAME AS OTHERS WITHOUT BRANDED TITLES I AM NOT ALLOWED TO GET IT FIXED EVEN AND THE PART MALFUNCTIONING WAS FORDS OWN DOING.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2014 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK FROM ELLIOTT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP IN CARTHAGE TEXAS NOT KNOWING I WAS BUYING A VEHICLE WITH A ACTIVE SAFETY RECALL. WAS TOLD BUY THE SALESPERSON THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE THAT THEY ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO FIX THEM PRIOR TO SELLING IT. AND I WAS DRIVING HOME 11 DAYS AFTER GETTING THE CAR AND IT STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN THE LEFT LANE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I SENT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER YOU TRIED TO GIVE IT BACK TO ME AGAIN TELLING ME THAT THEY DROVE IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ISN'T ON ANYMORE AND WE LOOKED UP YOUR WEBSITE TO SEE IF THE CAR HAD AN ACTIVE RECALL WHICH IT DID. WE REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK UNLESS THEY FIXED THE RECALL. SO THEY SAID THEY WERE SENDING THE CAR TO EXCEL FORD IN CARTHAGE TEXAS. THAT THEY HAD CALLED THEM AND VERIFY THE RECALL IN WHICH WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL FROM THE PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP GIVING US THE WEBSITE. THE SERVICE TECH CALLED AND SAID HE CALLED FORD VERIFYING THE RECALL AND THAT THE PARTS FOR FIXING THE RECALL WE'RE ON BACKORDER AND COULD TAKE QUITE A WHILE. A DAY LATER ELLIOTT DODGE OF CARTHAGE CALLED US BACK WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND SAID THEY HAD THE CAR BACK THE RECALL WAS FIXED. ALONG WITH THE PIECE OF PAPER STATING IT WAS FIXED BUT NOT HOW. AND NOW A WEEK LATER IF THAT AND THE CAR STALLED OUT AGAIN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND DID THE SAME THING IT DID BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ALLEGEDLY FIXED. ONCE AGAIN NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT STALLS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES THEN STAYS ON LOSING ALL POWER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A RECALL A FEW MONTHS AGO ALSO MENTIONING THAT IT HAS BEEN SAYING IT'S OVERHEATING AND THEY GAVE MY CAR BACK SAYING NOTHING IS WRONG AND NOW I'VE BEEN DRIVING WITH MY NEWBORN DAUGHTER AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY CAR WOULDN'T GO PAST 65 & THEN AFTER IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN MY BATTERY GOES OUT I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE THE GAS LIGHT HAD BEEN ON AND SO I CALLED AAA AND HAD SOMEONE COME DOWN THEY PUT IN GAS AND GOT IT STARTED BUT TO MY DISMAY I WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME SEEING AS HOW MY CAR COULD BARELY ACCELERATE AND AGAIN IT SHUT OFF AT FIRST I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP AT A LIGHT MY BATTERY SYMBOL WENT ON AND THEN THE CAR SHUT OFF & AFTER I GOT IT WORKING AGAIN IT WAS WORKING AND THEN IT SLOWED AND WOULD LET ME PRESS THE BRAKES ANYMORE AND SINCE THE. IT WON'T START
I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT (NOT FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP) ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO AND FROM DAY ONE I NOTICED A SLIGHT SHUDDER WHEN TAKING OFF. NOW I'M AT 86,000 MILES AND THE SHUDDERING IS BECOMING MORE VIOLENT AND MY CAR SEEMS TO BE BOGGING DOWN FREQUENTLY AND IS VERY SLOW TO TAKE OFF. AFTER BRINGING MY CAR TO FRAMINGHAM FORD IN FRAMINGHAM MA I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW CLUTCH BUT I WAS NOT UNDER THE EXTENDED MANUFACTURER WARRANTY AND THE FIX WOULD BE $1,800! THE GUY I SPOKE WITH AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO CALL FORD AND TELL THEM THE SITUATION BECAUSE THIS IS AN VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF. I CALLED FORD AND SPOKE WITH A WOMAN THAT TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME AND I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPTS FROM ANY FUTURE FIXES FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND HOPE THAT FORD SENDS OUT REFUNDS.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. IT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT RANDOMLY. WE DROVE OUR FORD FOCUS TO A FRIENDS HOUSE, TURNED IT OFF, HUNG OUT WITH THEM, AND WHEN WE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, IT SAID WE NEEDED TO GET THE STEERING SERVICED. IT'S VERY HARD TO STEER AND MAKE TURNS AT LOW MPH
TRANSMISSION (THE DSP6) COMPUTER (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, OR TCM) IS PRONE TO FAILURE RESULTING IN A CAR THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN RELIABLY ON ROADS WITHOUT POTENTIALLY FALLING INTO AN UNINTENTIONAL NEUTRAL. ON APRIL 6TH, UPON STARTING THE CAR UP I WAS UNABLE TO REVERSE, AND MANAGED TO LIMP TO THE DEALER IN LOW GEAR ONLY. I OWN A A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY. WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE OVER AND UNDER ACCELERATED AND THEN HESITATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANUAL CLUTCH, POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE, AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE TOTAL COSTS IS $1,590. THE FORD DEALERSHIP DID NOT CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

OFTEN WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN, AND I HAVE THE WIPERS ARE ON "LOW" OR "HIGH", AFTER SOME TIME (NOT PARTICULARLY CONSISTENT, SOMETIMES WITHIN A MINUTE, SOMETIMES AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES) THEY WILL START WORKING INTERMITTENTLY INSTEAD. THAT IS, THE WIPER WILL BE ON, AND THEN THEY WILL START PAUSING WHILE AT THE BOTTOM BETWEEN WIPER CYCLES, JUST AS THOUGH IT WAS SET TO INTERMITTENT, EVEN THOUGH THE WIPER SETTING HASN'T BEEN CHANGED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I CAN SWITCH THE WIPER SETTING TO ANOTHER SETTING AND THEN BACK, AND THEN IT WILL START WORKING AGAIN FOR A WHILE. THAT IS, IF IT'S ON "LOW" AND THIS STARTS HAPPENING, I CAN SWITCH THE WIPERS TO "INTERMITTENT" AND BACK TO "LOW", OR TO "HIGH" AND BACK TO "LOW", AND IT WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL "LOW" OPERATION FOR A WHILE (UNTIL THE PROBLEM REPEATS). THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW.

I EXPERIENCED WHAT OTHERS HAVE CALLED THE 'STOP SAFELY NOW' WARNING LIGHT AND FOLLOWED BY THE LOSS POWER AND STEERING ISSUES ON CITY STREET. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED MANY TIMES RECENTLY ON THE LOCAL STREETS (MARCH - APRIL, 2019). THANKS GOD, THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY ( OTHERWISE, I CAN'T IMAGE WHAT COULD HAPPEN). I FOUND THE TSB 17-0045 ONLINE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND BROUGHT THIS TSB TO MY DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED ME $$ TO GET THIS CAR FIXED BY FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTION OF THIS TSB ( HOPEFULLY THIS GOT FIXED). TSB 17-0045 SPECIFIED THE CARS BUILT 9/15-2011 TO 8/15/2014 MAY HAVE THIS ISSUE. MY CAR WAS BUILT ON JUNE 2014. I STRONGLY REQUEST NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS URGENT SAFETY ISSUE.

In 2018/2017 I became aware of the extended ford warranty on the TCM for a period of Fords in which my vehicle fit under. It was difficult discussing this issue with ford in getting it in to be replaced under warranty but eventually I was able to get it in for a diagnosis and appointment. Meanwhile, the whole time my car has maintained shifting roughly even though it had gotten the supposed replacement - and the vehicle was sold to me this way from Hayes Chrysler in Lawrenceville, GA. ]About a month and a half ago, my car shifts rougher than usual and my check engine light comes on, I make an appointment with Ford since there is another extended warranty covering the TCM but the dealership fails to replace it and states that it needs a new clutch - when in fact it is reading a code unrelated to the clutch (P07A5).

CAR HAD 53,166 MILES, & NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON. DARCARS DID A TUNE-UP WHICH DID NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE GAS MILEAGE. (2) I SCHEDULED SERVICE FOR 9/18/18. DARCARS FOUND PROBLEM: SEIZED FUEL CANISTER THAT DAMAGED THE FUEL PUMP AND CAUSED FUEL TANK TO IMPLODE. ALL PARTS WERE REPLACED. (3) AFTER REPAIRS, GAS MILEAGE WAS BETTER BUT NOT BACK TO NORMAL. USED TO GET > 30 ML/GAL, & WHEN I FILLED UP, DISPLAY ALWAYS SAID >400 ML TO EMPTY. NOW I GET 27-28 ML/GAL, AND AFTER FILL-UP DISPLAY SAYS ~330 ML TO EMPTY. (4) I RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 18V-735 IN 12/18. IT INDICATED THERE WAS NO FIX YET. (5) SCHEDULED AN OIL CHANGE FOR 1/30/19 AND ASKED DARCARS FOR STATUS OF RECALL. DARCARS SAID THERE WAS A FIX: PARTS REPLACEMENT & REPROGRAMMING. DARCARS DETERMINED THAT PARTS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED WERE OK, SO ONLY REPROGRAMMING WAS DONE. (6) REAL PROBLEMS BEGAN 3/1/19. CAR SUDDENLY DROVE EXTREMELY POORLY WHILE ON HIGHWAY. IT WOULD HESITATE, & WHEN I GAVE IT A LITTLE MORE GAS, IT LURCHED & DROVE ERRATICALLY. IT THEN STALLED OUT COMPLETELY. I TRIED TO RESTART CAR A FEW TIMES & AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT STARTED. CAR HAD ~3/4 TANK OF GAS AND NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON. I SCHEDULED SERVICE ON 3/5/19. DARCARS ADDED OR REPLACED A TRANSMISSION MODULE. (7) NO CHANGE IN GAS MILEAGE, & LATEST SERIOUS PROBLEM HAPPENED 3/21/19. WHILE ON HIGHWAY, CAR STALLED OUT COMPLETELY WITH NO WARNING. GAS TANK WAS NEAR FULL, & NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON. TRIED TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT WOULDN'T START. CALLED FOR A TOW. TRIED TO RESTART CAR COUPLE MORE TIMES WHILE ON PHONE WITH AAA BUT NO LUCK. ~10 MINUTES OR SO LATER, WHILE WAITING FOR TOW TRUCK, TRIED TO START CAR AGAIN & IT STARTED.
WHEN I TAKE OFF THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHUDDER. IT ALSO SHAKES WHEN ACCELERATING. IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK MULTIPLE TIMES. IT DOES IT FROM TAKE OFF TO AROUND 3RD GEAR.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the transmission shifted hard and hesitated while accelerating. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three occasions, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired twice however, the failure returned three years later. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN SUDDENLY THE BACKSEAT DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED. THERE WAS A PASSENGER THAT WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT AFTER THE EVENT BUT LUCKILY NOBODY WAS HURT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUES AND FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE ON FIXING IT
WHEN DRIVING AND/OR STATIONARY, THE ACM (AUDIO CONTROL MODULE) WILL CAUSE THE SPEAKERS OR RADIO TO MAKE LOUD AND SOMETIMES UNBEARABLE POPPING, BUZZING OR NO SOUND WILL COME OUT OF THE SPEAKERS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME.
CAR SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THROUGH THE 1ST GEAR. HAD SOFTWARE RESET AND CLUTCH REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE, AND AS I UNDERSTAND, I CAN HAVE THE SOFTWARE RESET AND CLUTCH REPLACED 2 MORE TIMES, AND THEN POSSIBLY GET SOME MONETARY ABATEMENT IF IT'S STILL NOT FIXED.
TWO DIFFERENT INCIDENTS: (3/13/18) WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE LIGHT CAME ON "STEERING ASSIST FAULT - SERVICE REQUIRED". AFTER THAT, PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. AFTER RESTARTING, THE STEERING WORKED OKAY AGAIN. HAD THIS LATER CHECKED BY ASTORIA FORD, AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG (EVEN AFTER RUNNING THE CODES). THEN ON 3/15/19, GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND STARTED IT AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME EVEN AFTER STOPPING AND RE-STARTING THE ENGINE (WAITING @ 5-10 MINUTES) THE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND THERE WAS NO STEERING. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS AT A ASTORIA AAMCO GETTING CHECKED THOROUGHLY BY A VERY COMPETENT, HIGHLY EXPERIENCED MECHANIC TO GET THIS RESOLVED FOR OUR SAFETY.

ENGINE STALLS WHEN ACCELERATING, AND STOPS WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD. OCCURS FREQUENTLY AND HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. FORD SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG.
MY FORD FOCUS DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH BAILED. THE DOOR LATCH WAS RECALLED AND I HAD ALL THE DOORS FIXED FROM THE RECALL. THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AND LATCH PROPERLY. I HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT TO GET BACK HOME. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALER LATER THAT DAY AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE THE PART BUT HE WAS TRYING TO GET PERMISSION TO SEPARATE THE 4 PACK OF LATCHES AS PART OF THE RECALL. IF MY CAR WAS FIXED AS PART OF THE RECALL, WHY DID THE LATCH FAIL? THEY WERE ABLE TO SEPARATE THE FOUR PACK OF LATCHES AND FIX MY CAR, BUT I'M CONCERNED THIS COULD HAPPEN TO OTHERS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME PART OF THE LATCHES.
