MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER 18S32 FOR A POTENTIAL STUCK EVAP PURGE VALVE CAUSING EXCESSIVE VACUUM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. AS MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE A FAILED PART AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL SERVICE, ONLY A PCM UPDATE WAS PERFORMED. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL SERVICE, THE PURGE VALVE FAILED AND CAUSED RANDOM STALLS OF THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. FORD CLAIMS THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED AND I, THE CONSUMER, AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIRS, EVEN WITH THE ORIGINAL PART, SUBJECT TO THE RECALL 18S32, WAS THE FAULT FOR THE ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE RE-OPENED ON ALL THE VEHICLES THAT DID NOT HAVE THE PURGE VALVE REPLACED AND THE PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO PREVENT FUTURE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE.
EVERY TIME MY FORD FOCUS SHIFTS FROM 1ST-2ND OR 2ND-3RD THE ENTIRE CAR NOT ONLY SHUTTERS BUT ITS EXTREMELY SLUGGISH AND SEEMS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL OUT. (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHT LIT ON MY DASH AND THE CAR BARELY HAS 56,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT HAD 35,000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM EXISTED THEN AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. YESTERDAY I WAS AT A YIELD SIGN TO ENTER THE ROUND ABOUT NEAR MY HOUSE AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GASS MY CAR SHUTTERED HORRIBLY AND ONLY WENT FORWARD A FEW FEET, I WAS NEARLY STRUCK BY A TRUCK THAT HAD TO SUDDENLY SWERVE TO KEEP FROM HITTING US. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. WHEN I PRESSED IT AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH MORE FORCE, IT SHUTTERED AND JERKED SO HARD IT FORCEFULLY THREW MY HEAD BACK AGAINST THE SEAT! MY 5YR OLD DAUGHTER THAT WAS IN THE BACK SEAT WAS CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY, SCARED BECAUSE WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY A TRUCK! THE SEATBELTS IN THE BACKSEAT OF MY CAR, HAVE CAME UNBUCKLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE MY 2YR OLD AND 5YR OLD CHILDREN WERE IN THEIR CARSEATS. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO REBUCKLE THEM IT TAKES ABOUT 15- 20 MINUTES OF MY CONSISTENTLY TRYING TO GET THE BUCKLE TO LATCH ONTO THE SEATBELTS!
MULTIPLY SAFETY RECALLS AND I TOOK TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, BUT DEALERSHIPS REFUSED TO DO OR TO FIX MY CAR. NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. CODE READER HAS 2 CODES 1450 AND 144A. NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, BUT DEALERSHIP FILED A FALSE REPORT STATING THE RECALLS WERE ALREADY DONE. IT IS NOT THE CASE. THE ONLY RECALL THAT WAS DONE WAS FOR THE DOOR LATCHES. THE PURSE VALVE AND FUEL SENSORS STILL NEED TO BE FIXED.
I HAVE A RECALL FOR POSSIBLE DEFORMED FUEL TANK. IT IS MAKING MY CAR STALL AT ANY TIME TO INCLUDE USING CRUISE CONTROL OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN BY MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEIR ADVICE IS TO KEEP THE GAS TANK FILLED ABOVE HALF BUT I HAVE STALLED AFTER DRIVING 30 MILES AFTER FILLING UP. I HAD THEM INSPECT MY CAR AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I ASKED ABOUT THE STALLING AND THEY SAID WAIT FOR THE SOFTWARE. I GUESS THEY EXPECT THAT I WALK TO WORK UNTIL THEY FIX THE ISSUE. I HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND THEY RECOMMEND I WAIT FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY ARE UNSURE IF THE PART WILL FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT THE SOFTWARE. I ALREADY HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR A FAMILY EMERGENCY AND DONT WANT TO GET STRANDED WHILE DRIVING TO WORK BECAUSE I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A FAULTY CAR WITH NO FIX. I CAN AFFORD TO BUY OR RENT A CAR UNTIL AN UNKNOWN DATE.
I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR TRANSMISSION HESITATION 3 TIMES AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY CAR AND CHARGE ME $175 DIAGNOSIS FEE. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS. I KNOW I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. WHEEN I ACCELERATE THE CAR HESITATE JERKS SHAKE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY GOES.
HI, Ortega Highway in California. got a flat tire. I pulled over to change to the spare and can't get the lug wrench (OEM) on the nuts...(drizzling steadily) I see I am risking stripping the lugs. I'm in the forest- cell signal is spotty. I'm left no choice but to drive on my flat tire slowly to a gas station (several miles) And they can't get it off. I call for a tow to tire shop. They show up in a car w/ a 4 way lug wrench..because of course, they assumed they had to fit. must be my ineptness..and he can't get one lug loose. And now I miss my appt., I have to wait another two hours for a tow truck, while several creepy people want to "help" me.... (help me get thrown in their trunk they mean.. ) I'm making light of it now, but I really resent my safety being put in jeopardy and not even given a heads up when Ford knows it's a problem...no surprise, I've got a Focus transmission .Any integrity & ownership of defective design is non existent.. I can forgive mistakes, they happen. And as long as I am aware of them, I can prepare... But Ford doesn't give a [XXX] about our safety. I've had it, no trust is left. Cost benefit analysis is their concern, which saves them money short term yay, for stockholders & CEO bonuses. Ignoring their long term loss of customers due to unethical behavior. Tangent over.. I made it to the tire shop 15 minutes before close. That shop was the place I first learned of the lug nut "2 metal swelling and stripping" issues. He had a special tool just for Ford Lug nuts. This has happened several times since then... I have had to leave my car on the side of the road, also, drive it to the tire shop slowly. damaging my rim... But my real concern is getting a flat tire that I cannot change myself because the lugs strip/ swell in some isolated area... was lucky it was day that first time, scary as [XXX]...Ford puts drivers in unsafe situations because irresponsibility is now it's business model. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC, MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS EXPERIENCED EXTREME SHUTTERING, FOLLOWED BY ENGINE SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS, ONCE DECELERATING AT A RED LIGHT, ONCE ACCELERATING WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. LUCKILY, SHE HAS NOT YET BEEN INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT AS A RESULT. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE CAR WAS SERVICED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN 12/2018. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES SINCE THEN. THIS PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT UNDER A RECALL ALTHOUGH WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME SAFETY ISSUES OTHER FORD FOCUS 2014 RECALLED VEHICLES HAVE REPORTED.
MY 2014 FORD FOCUS SHUDDERS AND JERKS WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO RESUME DRIVING AFTER A SLOW DOWN, AND I AM SCARED THAT I WILL GET HIT BECAUSE MY CAR CANNOT ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH. THIS HAPPENED RECENTLY IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR ON THE HIGHWAY, AND I WAS FORTUNATE TO ESCAPE BEING HIT AT THE LAST MINUTE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS IN HOUSTON FOR THEM TO CHECK IF THE CAR IS PART OF THE TRANSMISSION RECALL, BUT THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST, I DO NOT THINK THIS IS FAIR SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR.
TAKATA RECALL AND CLUTCH REPLACED AT LEAST TWICE BY SEYMOUR FORD IN JACKSON, MI. ON 3/4/19 MY CAR DIED AT A TWO-WAY STOP SIGN AND I WAS LUCKY TO PUSH IT OUT OF HARM'S WAY. IT WAS TOWED TO SEYMOUR AND THEY SOLDERED A PART BACK TOGETHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT CALLED JOHN GREENE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP AT 828-584-5337 (LOCATED AT 910 JAMESTOWN RD, MORGANTON, NC 28655) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE SAME DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE IN MOTION, ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAILING CATALYTIC CONVERTER - POSSIBLY DUE TO CONTAMINATION. FORD FOCUS HAD RECEIVED AN EVAP PURGE VALVE RELATED RECALL JUST A FEW DAYS EARLIER WHICH STILL NEEDED TO BE COMPLETED. THE RECALL REPLACED COMPONENTS AS PER GUIDANCE BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHICH LIKELY FAILED AS A RESULT OF A FAILURE LINKED TO THE PRIOR RECALL (EVAP PURGE VALVE). MANY SIMILAR CASES ARE TO BE FOUND IN FORUMS ONLINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE RANDOMLY SHUDDERED AND HESITATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VILLAGE FORD (23535 MICHIGAN AVE, DEARBORN, MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. *TT *TR
THE RADIO MAKING A LOUD UNEXPECTED POPPING NOISE. DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. EVEN WITH VEHICLE OFF, IT'S MAKING THE NOISE. THIS IS A FORD PROBLEM.
MY CAR IS PART OF THE 18S32 (FORD) RECALL FOR THE "FUEL TANK DEFORMATION". I HAD IT SERVICED IN MARCH IN BOLIVAR, MO AT BILL GRANT FORD DEALERSHIP. THE REPROGRAMMED THE PART AS NEEDED DUE TO THE MIL BEING ON WITH THE CODE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL HAS BEEN FIXED AND FORD HAS CLOSED THE RECALL ON MY CAR. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER FUELING AND IT COULD TAKE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5 MINUTES TO UPWARDS OF 45 MINUTES FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO START AFTER FUELING, WHICH LEAVES ME STRANDED AT TIMES. THEIR REPAIR LASTED ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AND IT WAS BACK TO DOING IT AGAIN SO I AM BACK AT SQUARE 1 WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP AGAIN AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF WAITING TO GET IN THE SHOP. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE JIM TRENARY FORD DEALSHIP IN MOSCOW MILLS, MO WHERE I RESIDE. THEY ARE SAYING THAT THE PURGE VALVE IS FAILING DUE TO THE RECALL, AS THE RECALL STATES EXACTLY. AND DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL IS CLOSED ON MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS REPAIRED ONCE, FORD IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR IT. IT IS NOT MY OBLIGATION TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AS THIS IS 100% FORD'S FAULT AND I WILL NOT PROVIDE PAYMENT FOR IT. FORD ISSUES THE NEW RECALL (19S22) AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT MINE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL BUT YET IT NEEDS TO BE AS THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FORD AND THEY STATE THAT THEY WILL NOT COOPERATE WITH PAYING FOR THE REPAIR ON THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THEIR RECALLED PART. OR THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL FOR A MORE BROAD SPECTRUM OF VEHICLES AS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I REQUEST THE HELP OF THE NHTSA TO ASSIST ME WITH HAVING FORD FIX WHAT THEY BROKE. THANK YOU.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 20 MPH TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON APRIL 11, 2019, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WHEN TRYING TO USE THE REVERSE GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,836.
PURCHASED 2014 FORD FOCUS IN DEC. 2018, LESS THAN 31,000 MILES IN EXCELLENT VISIBLE CONDITION FROM FAMILY FRIEND FOR MY CHILD AWAY AT COLLEGE. WAS INFORMED BY PREVIOUS OWNER THAT THE WHEN STARTING FROM 0 THERE IS A SMALL STUTTER AS CAR SHIFTS INTO 1ST GEAR. A FORD DEALERSHIP INSTRUCTED THEM THAT THERE IS A 10YR/150,000 MILE WARRANTY EXTENSION (14M01 -DP56 TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER), BUT CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT GETS WORSE. TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THE 2014 FOCUS, WE DID EXPERIENCE A SHUDDER-SHUDDER. MY CHILD INFORMED ME LATE FEB, EARLY MARCH THE ISSUE HAS GOTTEN WORSE. HOME FOR SPRING BREAK, 03/24/19 WEEK, TOOK FOR TEST DRIVE, AND THE ISSUE IS SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE; JUMPING-SHUDDERING-JERKING, SHUDDER-SHUDDER WHEN SHIFTING FROM ZERO TO 1ST AND ALSO 2ND GEAR. 03/25/19 TOOK TO MY MECHANIC WHO INSTRUCTED WAS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND FORD HAS VARIOUS SERVICE PUBLICATIONS AND ADVISED TO TAKE TO FORD DEALERSHIP. I CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE 03/25/19 TO MAKE APPOINTMENT AND START CLAIM. 03/25/19 PM DROPPED OFF AT AUTONATION FORD. 03/28/2019 INFORMED TRANSMISSION CLUTCH IS OUT OF SPECIFICATION AND DEFECTIVE, AND WILL COST $2060 +TAX TO REPLACE. ALSO INFORMED THAT THE DEFECTIVE CLUTCH IS NOT COVERED WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (14M01 -DP56 TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER). ALSO THAT THE VEHICLES ORIGINAL 5YR/60,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED ON 02/08/2019. 03/28/19, CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE , RECEIVED CASE#, AND INSTRUCTED THAT MY ISSUE HAS BEEN LOGGED BUT FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING, THAT ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS 32,986 MILES, THE 5YR WARRANTY, EXPIRED 02/08/2019. FORD DID INFORM ME THAT I CAN CONTACT NHTSA. ALTHOUGH CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS POLITE, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH A KNOWN DEFECTIVE ISSUE. WITHOUT RESOLUTION, THIS IS, WAS THE 4TH AND LAST FORD PRODUCT MY FAMILY OF 5 WILL EVER PURCHASE, AND ADVISE OTHERS ALSO TO NOT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET THE CAR MADE A SOUND WITH THE WORDS 'ENGINE FAULT: ...' THE CARS ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS WENT HAYWIRE WITHIN A MINUTE OF THE FIRST WARNING AND THE CAR DIED.
I BOUGHT A 2014 FORD FOCUS BACK IN JUNE OF 2018. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FIXED A FEW DAYS LATER DUE TO AN OPEN RECALL. AFTER THAT I HAD NO ISSUES. OCTOBER 2018 I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE MOST RECENT RECALL WITH THE CPV AND SUCH. SINCE THEN, MY CAR HAS NOT RUN GOOD. IT JERKS, ACTS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO, AND MY FUEL READING IS ALMOST ALWAYS WRONG. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. WHEN I CALL MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY TELL ME THERE'S IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE YET AND TO JUST KEEP IT AT UNDER HALF A TANK OF GAS. WHICH IS STUPID SINCE I CAN'T GET AN ACCURATE FUEL READING! I CAN FILL IT COMPLETELY FULL, DRIVE ONE MILE, THEN SUDDENLY BE ON 3/4 TANK. THAT'S IS RIDICULOUS.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING. CLUTCH REPLACEMENT
CAR SHAKES/SHATTER EVERYTIME IT SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST, 2ND, AND 3RD GEAR. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IT GOES BACK AND FORWARD TO NEUTRAL BETWEEN SHIFTING.THE ISSUES IS GETTING WORSE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AFTER REVIEWING VARIOUS COMPLAINTS I FIND OUT THAT ALL FORDS FROM 2012 AND NEWER HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AND FORD HAS REFUSED TO CORRECTED. THEY ONLY HAVE A RECALL ON THE PCM COMPUTER BUT REFUSED TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH OR TRANSMISSION. EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILEAGE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED AS REMEDY SINCE THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO COME BACK. IT IS TIME FOR FORD TO TAKE OWNERSHIP ON THEIR MISTAKE AND BE FORCED TO RECALL ALL TRANSACTIONS ON OUR CARS.
MY CAR ALERTED TRACTION CONTROL/HILL ASSIST ISSUE WHILE DRIVING UNDER 35 MPH. (NOTE I WORK 3RD SHIFT) NEXT MORNING GOT OFF WORK AND IT WAS DEAD BUT WAS ABLE TO JUMP IT. NEXT NIGHT I REMOVED KEYS FROM IGNITION FROM PARKED CAR AND VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN. NEXT MORNING CAR WOULD NOT START AND WAS ABLE TO BE JUMPED. TOOK TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) MODULE WHICH THEY REPLACED AND RETURNED MY CAR. SAME NIGHT CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO GET THE CAR CHARGED JUST TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP 3 MINUTES AWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 1500 RPM AND WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 15 MPH. GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD WORKER WITNESS A TEST DRIVE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THEN PARKED WITHE WORKER STILL INSIDE AND SHE WAS ABLE TO WITNESS THE CAR NOT SHUTTING OFF AFTER KEY REMOVAL. NOTIFIED TODAY FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER IT IS NOW THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) AND WILL BE $2900 PLUS TAX TO REPLACE THE BCM AS WELL AS THE WIRE HARNESS THAT HAS MELTED NOW DUE TO THIS ISSUE. FORD HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO PROGRAMS OR RECALLS TO HELP COVER THESE COSTS. AFTER RESEARCH I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AND ISSUE WITH OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2015 FORD FOCUS FOR THIS SAME BCM ISSUE BUT OF COURSE MY VIN (2014 FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK) IS NOT INCLUDED. STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT MOVE. HAD TO PULL BACK IN TO PARKING SPOT AND TURN CAR OFF. UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE STEERING WHEEL IS BACK TO NORMAL AND THE WARNING IS GONE. TERRIBLE VEHICLE. FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY CHILD IN IT. NEVER WILL BUY ANOTHER FORD EVER AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO VERIFY IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

TAKATA RECALL COMPLAINT. MY SON AND I PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS TOGETHER. THE REAR DOOR WAS A CONSTANT PROBLEM IN LATCHING PROPERLY AND THIS IS COMPLAINT #1. COMPLAINT #2 IS THE INABILITY TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY MORE. THE CAR MOTOR SEIZED (MY SON SAID THE THE ENGINE BLEW UP) WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN CALIF. AND HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY. MY EX WIFE SPENT $4,500 TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, BY A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP IN CALIFORNIA ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR BACK IN THE SAME UNDRIVEABLE CONDITION. APPARENTLY THE NEW TRANSMISSION NOW HAD ELECTRICAL DEFECTS. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TOLD MY SON TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP THAT PERFORMED THE WORK ON THE CAR. THE CONCEPT OF THE 14MO2 RECALL OR FAILED SERVICE ACTION NEVER AROSE. WE STILL HAVE A BALANCE ON THE LOAN TO FORD CREDIT AND AN UNDRIVEABLE 2014 CAR. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT AFTER PATRONIZING FORD BY PURCHASING 2 EXPLORERS PRIOR TO THIS FOCUS, THAT SUCH MECHANICAL ISSUES WOULD EXIST.
THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND THE RPMS GET HIGH IN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS, IT TAKES FOREVER TO ACCELERATE, THE FUEL GAUGE WILL SAY 100 MILES TILL EMPTY THEN DIE ON YOU, I HAVE BEEN STRANDED 5 TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR DUE TO THAT, RECENTLY ON 2/8/20 THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AND PROCEEDED TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO LITERALLY PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND INTO A STORE PARKING LOT DURING 5PM TRAFFIC. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS CAR RECEIVED A 5 STAR SAFETY RATING, I FEEL A NUMBER OF THINGS ABOUT THIS MODEL CAR AND COMPANY BUT SAFE DEFINITELY IS NOT ONE OF THEM. DOORS THAT HAVE DEFECTIVE LATCHES, OPENING AT ANYTIME, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS LEADING TO CARS CONSTANTLY ALMOST REAR ENDING YOU, AND A CAR THAT CAN STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION OR FREEWAY, IS NOT BY ANY MEANS A DEFINITION OF THE WORD SAFE. SOMETIMES THIS RESULTS IN LOSS OF ACCELERATION.THIS HAS SCARED US QUITE A FEW TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AS THE POWER LOSS HAS PUT US IN SITUATIONS WHEN AN ACCIDENT COULD EASILY HAVE OCCURRED. THIS SHUDDER HAPPENS 90% OF THE TIME WHEN ACCELERATING, AND IS GETTING WORSE. CLUTCHES WERE REPLACED NOT LONG AFTER WE BOUGHT IT (BOUGHT USED FROM DEALER IN 2016), AND WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER IN 2018 THAT THE CLUTCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, AND SINCE THEY WERE 2 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, WE WOULD HAVE TO COUGH UP THE $1800 OURSELVES TO REPLACE THE CLUTCHES FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A CAR THAT WAS THEN 4 YEARS OLD.

WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE TO HAVE THIS RECALL ADDRESSED AT NO EXPENSE WHICH IS CLEARLY EXPRESSED IN NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 18V735.
VEHICLE'S ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OFF AFTER PLACING TRANSMISSION IN PARK, TURNING KEY TO OFF POSITION, AND THEN REMOVING KEY. ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN UNTIL FUEL PRESSURE DROPS AND EVENTUALLY STALLS. IGNITION CIRCUIT REMAINS ENERGIZED AND WILL DRAIN BATTERY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.

REAR DOORS - LATCHES WERE BAD. PASSENGER SIDE OPENED WHILE TURNING. USED BUNGEE CORDS TO KEEP IT SHUT UNTIL LATCHES COULD BE REPLACED. TRANSMISSION - CHATTERED UPON DRIVING, LIKE WHEN 1ST LEARNING TO DRIVE STICK SHIFT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT SHIFT UNTIL REACHING HIGH RPMS. OCCASIONALLY WOULD MOMENTARILY SEEM TO POP INTO NEUTRAL. THAT HAPPENED JANUARY 25, 2019. WAS PULLING OUT OF A RESTAURANT AFTER DARK, TURNING LEFT ON A 4 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY. IT PAUSED HALF WAY ACROSS THE NEAR LANE, A CAR WAS COMING DIRECTLY TOWARD ME AND I TURNED TOO SHARPLY AND RAN OVER THE MEDIAN. ENDED UP CRACKING THE OIL PAN, MESSING UP THE STEERING AND CRACKING THE ENGINE. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I WAS LIVID WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS WELL KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND DON CHALMERS FORD KNOWINGLY SOLD IT TO ME.

THE ONLY SOLUTION THEY GAVE ME WAS TO KEEP THE FUEL TANK ABOVE HALF FULL ("UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED FOR THIS CONCERN CUSTOMERS ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN AT LEAST 1/2 TANK OF FUEL") , HOWEVER WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED FOR THE SECOND TIME I HAD OVER 3/4 OF A TANK. IVE CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND ALSO TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WOULD NOT OFFER A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE THE CAR IS STILL DEEMED SAFE TO DRIVE ("AN ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING OR WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RESTART, CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.")... ALTHOUGH IN THE RECALL LETTER RECEIVED SAYS "MAY INCREASE RISK OF CRASH". ALSO WITH THIS RECALL THEY SAY "CAUSING THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK TO DEFORM, RESULTING IN AN INACCURATE OR ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE INDICATION" HOW AM I TO KEEP MORE THAN A HALF A TANK IF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR FOR A CONTROL MODULE THAT WOULD CAUSE MY CAR TO STALL WITHOUT NOTICE. WHEN MY CAR STALLED IT MADE A LOUD KNOCK AND MY CLUTCH BRAKE BROKE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE BREAKING OF MY CLUTCH BRAKE COULD NOT BE COVERED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS DIFFERENT SECTION OF THE TRANSMISSION. MY QUESTION IS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY TO BEGIN WITH THEN WOULDN'T IT AFFECT MY CLUTCH BRAKE AND CAUSE IT TO BE UNDER TOO MUCH STRESS? NUMEROUS REOCCURRING ISSUES MOST RECENT WAS ON OR ABOUT 1/16/19. THIS IS THE 7TH TIME THE 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUES OF SHUDDERING, MISFIRING, FAULTY CLUTCH, ENGINE LIGHT ON AND TCM MALFUNCTION . DEALER SERVICE COUNSELOR/TECHNICIAN REPORTS THE TCM IS DEFECTIVE AND OWNER WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE WHENEVER THE MODULE OVERHEATS.
WHILE ACCELERATING EITHER UPHILL OR AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE. I WAS TOLD TO FIX MY CAMBER AND TOE BARS TO ALLEVIATE THE SHAKING OF THE CAR, MY STRUTS, AND TO REPLACE MY TIRES. NEITHER OF THESE SOLUTIONS HAVE HELPED THIS.

THIS INCLUDES ABOUT $1,200 FOR THE STEERING GEAR (ELECTRICAL), ABOUT $605 FOR THE LABOR, AND ANOTHER $100 FOR A NEW ALIGNMENT. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THIS IS A 2014 WITH ONLY 55K ON IT. THERE IS NO REASON THE MANUFACTURE SHOULDN'T BE COVERING THIS. THERE WAS ANOTHER CAR IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE AS MINE.
