I HAVE ESCAPED BEING HIT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MY CAR DOING THIS. I HAVE A FEAR I AM GOING TO BE REAR ENDED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF MY CAR. THE CAR STALLS ON THE ROAD THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION OUR CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A MONTH, SECOND TIME ON THE TRANSMISSION JERKING AND STALLING ON THE ROAD WHEN YOU WOULD BE STOPED AT A RED LIGHT THEN IN MOTION IT JERKED WHEN YOU INCREASED YOUR SPEED, VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND NO ONE IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. FORD CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL. . NOT JAPORDIZING MY FAMILY LIFE FOR A CAR THAT STALLS ON THE ROAD.
THE ENGINE OVERHEATS FOR NO REASON AND AS A RESULT THE CAR SHUTS OFF. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD AND WAS TOLD DUE TO IT BEING A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE HOOD TO COOL THE ENGINE DOWN AND TO JUST PUT THE HOOD UP FOR 20 MINUTES AND IT IS FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL PANEL. IT WAS RESET BY FORD DEALER IN CHAMPAIGN. NOT LONG AFTER PULLING INTO A DRIVE WAY HEARD A LOUD POP AND GAS AND BREAK WOULD NOT WORK. HAD TO HAVE TOWED TO FORD, AND THEY ENDED UP ORDERING A REPLACEMENT PART. THEY THEN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL PANEL. I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES AND MY CAR IS ONLY 13 MONTHS OLD. WHEN I AM AT A STOP SIGN AND PRESS THE GAS THE CAR STARTS KICKING BEFORE IT WILL TAKE OFF. THE CAR MAKES GRINDING SOUNDS AND THE GEAR NEEDLE IS UNSTABLE (TACHOMETER). THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED I HAVE A FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENT BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT'S FINE AND I HAVE TO DRIVE IT 1,000 MILES BEFORE I WILL KNOW IF PROBLEM IS FIXED. THERE IS A LAWSUIT GOING ON AND APPEARS TO BE A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND DO NOT WANT TO RISK GETTING HURT/ACCIDENT OVER THIS.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WITH NO POWER. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND DISPLAYED A YELLOW TOOL WRENCH THAT READ 'SEE MANUAL' AND THEN WOULD CHANGE TO A YELLOW TRIANGLE WITH A RED EXCLAMATION MARK THAT READ 'STOP VEHICLE SAFELY.' HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AV FORD AND THEY HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT UNHELPFUL. THEY STATE IT'S WATER INTRUSION TO THE CONNECTORS AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY AND TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY CANNOT PROVIDE ANY DIAGNOSTIC TESTING TO CONCLUDE THEIR WATER INTRUSION TO THE CONNECTOR'S THEORY. WE HAD A RAINSTORM THE DAY BEFORE I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THEM. THEY ARE USING WATER INTRUSION DAMAGE AS A SCAPEGOAT TO FIXING THE REAL ISSUE WHICH IS A DEFECT TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. FORD DID HOWEVER PROVIDE ME A WRITTEN ESTIMATE OF REPAIR FOR $33,160.42. THIS IS ABSURD AND IS MORE THAN THE CAR IS EVEN WORTH. THESE CARS CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE DESPITE OF THE RECALL THEY HAD FOR THIS PROBLEM. FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC VEHICLES THAT WERE NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL IN NOVEMBER 2013 ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER BECAUSE THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUTTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE DEALER PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION TO REPLACE THE DRY CLUTCHES. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER REPEATED THE SAME REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
BAD HESITATION/JERKING WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP POSITION I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE ORDERED A PART BACK IN OCTOBER 2015 WHICH STILL HAS YET TO COME IN, AND I WAS INFORMED TODAY IT WILL BE ANOTHER 6 WEEKS BEFORE IT ARRIVES. IN THE MEANTIME THE HESITATION AND JERKING ARE GETTING WORSE THAN THEY WERE INITIALLY. IT CONCERNS ME WHAT ELSE COULD THIS UNRESOLVED ISSUE BE IMPACTING. AND WHAT HAPPENS IF THIS CAUSES MY TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT WHILE I'M DRIVING.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS, LURCHES, STALLS, FAILS TO SHIFT, WILL TAKE OFF, AND THEN SUDDENLY STOP IN TRAFFIC. CURRENTLY 31,000 MILES, ISSUES BEGAN WITH 15,000 MILES. IN FIRST SECOND AND THIRD GEAR, THE CAR WILL EITHER SHUDDER OR LURCH OUT SUDDENLY NO MATTER THE SPEED. AT TIMES IT WILL LUNGE FORWARD AND COME TO A STOP WHILE TRYING TO UPSHIFT, SUDDENLY, IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AND AT STOP SIGNS. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO NEARLY REAR-END OTHER DRIVERS, AND OTHER DRIVERS TO NEARLY REAR END ME. IT HAS ALSO CAUSED ME TO COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC AFTER LEAVING A STOP SIGN. YOU MUST COMPLETELY LET OFF THE GAS, AND THEN SLOWLY ACCELERATE UNTIL THE CAR CATCHES A GEAR AND CAN GET MOVING AGAIN. SOMETIMES THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN SOON ENOUGH BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC REACHES ME. MY CAR HAS ALREADY BEEN RE-PROGRAMMED, AND I'M AWAITING AN 8-12 WEEK RECALL FOR A CLUTCH. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I'VE DRIVEN MANUALS ALL MY LIFE, AND THEY DIDNT NEARLY KILL ME. BEFORE THIS CAR, I PURCHASED A 2013 FORD FIESTA, IT HAS THE SAME ISSUES. AFTER REPLACING THE CLUTCHES FAILED TO FIX THE SAFETY ISSUES. I TRADED IT ON THE FOCUS THINKING I HAD A LEMON. NOW I'M HAVING THE SAME SAFETY ISSUES AS BEFORE. I LET THE DEALERSHIP KNOW THIS MORNING THAT THE CAR WAS A DEFINATE SAFETY CONCERN, AND I GOT NO RESPONSE. I WANT THIS ON RECORD IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THAT CAUSES INJURIES. I'M NOT SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE ROAD.
TRANSMISSION SHUTTER CONTINUES AFTER RECALL SERVICE FOR TRANSMISSION RECALL MODULE.
19K MILES AND 2 YEARS INTO HAVING THIS CAR -- "STOP SAFELY NOW" SHOWS UP WITH A RED TRIANGLE ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED TO ME ON FREEWAY WITH KIDS ON BOARD AND WAS VERY SCARY. FORD WOULD NOT HELP. MY CAR IS NOT ON RECALL LIST THOUGH THIS IS EXACT SAME ISSUE REPORTED ON NHTSA WEBSITE ABOUT THIS CAR. DEALER IS SUPER BUSY AND I DON'T EXPECT MY CAR TO BE LOOKED AT FOR DAYS. ITS REALLY FRUSTRATING TO BE HELD HOSTAGE ON THIS, BEING STUCK WITH NO CAR TO COMMUTE TO MY WORK WITHOUT ABSOLUTELY ANY FAULT OF MINE.
AUTO HAS BEEN SHUTTERING , SOMETIMES LOUNGING, AND SLOW ACCELERATION. TOOK CAR FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND REPORTED IT. DEALER SAID THEY WOULD BE EXTENDING MY WARRANTY AS THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM. (I KNOW 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUE). AFTER TAKING CAR IN FOR SERVICE, THE DIAGNOSIS WAS BAD CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. NEXT DAY RECEIVED CALL SAYING FORD MOTOR IS SAYING THIS IS NOT A COVERED CAR FOR THIS ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH IT THE SAME ISSUE MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED. CURRENTLY DRIVING A CAR THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS AS IT IS NOT CONSIST ON ACCELERATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILED TWICE AT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES. THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED TWICE BY BOB MAXEY FORD OF HOWELL (2798 E GRAND RIVER AVE, HOWELL, MI 48843, (517) 545-5700). THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE SAME OEM CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, A NEWLY DESIGNED OEM CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAD NOT YET BEEN DEVELOPED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 10,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SUGGESTED THAT THE SAME OEM CLUTCH ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *BF *TR
ON 10/07/15 I TOOK MY 2014 FORD FOCUS IN TO CHECK AIR PRESSURE ON TIRES AFTER THE TPMS LIGHT TURNED ON A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE WAY TO WORK ON NORMAL PAVEMENT. THEY CHECKED THE TIRES AND FOUND LEAKS ON RIGHT FRONT AND REAR TIRES. FORD MECHANIC TOLD ME THEY WERE UNREPAIRABLE. HE TRIED GETTING ME INTO NEW TIRES BUT WHY IF I ONLY HAD 12000 MILES ON THEM. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND. WHEN I ASKED IF THE WARANTY COVERED HE SAID THEY DIDN'T BUT IM SURE IT DOES.
THE CLUTCH IN MY 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES, WITH THE MOST RECENT TIME BEING THIS WEEK. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN FEB. '14, AND IT HAS 30K MILES ON IT. WHEN THE CLUTCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, THE CAR SHUDDERS AND JOLTS COMING OUT OF FIRST GEAR, LEAVING ME UNSURE OF WHETHER IT WILL ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE IS SLUGGISH WHEN ACCELERATING THROUGH THE GEARS, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING UP A HILL. ONCE THE VEHICLE MAINTAINS A CONSTANT SPEED, THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED UNTIL I STOP OR SLOW DOWN. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IN FACT, IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE. THE FIRST TIME THAT I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE IT INSPECTED FOR THE SHUDDERING (~11K MILES; AUG '14), IT WAS DISPLAYING PROBLEMS ABOVE 400 RPM. THE SECOND TIME THAT I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM (~23K MILES, MAY '15), I HAD NEARLY BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN ATLANTA, GA, AND THE CAR FAILED THE CLUTCH TEST AT 400 RPM. THIS LAST TIME THAT I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE REPAIRED (30K MILES, SEPT '15), IT WAS FAILING AT 500 RPM. A FORD REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS CONSIDERED UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT 550 RPM. NONETHELESS, THEY STILL LEFT ME TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS WHILE I WAITED ON THE PART TO COME IN AND THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE AVAILABILITY TO SEE ME. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY FOR THE THIRD CLUTCH TO BE REPLACED, I DROVE ~5 MILES AND HEARD A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL AT ALL SPEEDS. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP, WHO REQUESTED THAT I BRING THE CAR BACK IN TO BE FURTHER INSPECTED. I AM AWAITING FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THIS LATEST INCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS CHARGED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE OUTLET HAD MELTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THERE MUST BE FAULTY WIRING AT THE RESIDENCE. AN ELECTRICIAN WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE WIRING WAS NOT FAULTY. THE OUTLET WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS WHERE THE OUTLET MELTED AND WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED AT THE CONTACT'S OFFICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CHARGING PLUG WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY CAR HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS, SHAKES, HESISIATES, AND SHUDDERS. WHEN I AM STOPPED, AND THEN I START AGAIN IT FEELS LIKE MY CAR IS GOING TO STALL. THE FREEWAY IS EVEN SCARIER. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY FIXED MY CAR BUT I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I THINK IT NEEDS A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION.
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH SHIFTS IRREGULARLY AND "STUTTERS" ON STARTS AND OCCAISONALLY WHEN DRIVING AT RELATIVELY CONSTANT SPEEDS. ACCELLERATION IS UNEVEN WHEN IT DOES THIS AND THE PERFORMANCE IS HARD TO PREDICT. THIS MAKES MERGING ONTO FREEWAYS, ENTERING CROSS TRAFFIC, AND OTHER TIME/PERFORMANCE CRITICAL MANEUVERS UNCERTAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN SEERVICED THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND HAS HAD THE TRANSNMISSIONB REPROGRAMMED TWICE AND A CLUTCH IS ON ORDER.

VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHAKES, SHUDDERS, OR PULSES ON INITIAL ACCELERATION WITHIN CITY TRAFFIC. MISSES SHIFTS CAUSING CAR TO SURGE OR HESITATE IN TRAFFIC. TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES AND REPLACEMENT OF CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REDUCED BUT DID NOT ELIMINATE THE ISSUE. DRIVABILITY IS EXTREMELY POOR AND UNPREDICTABLE PARTICULARLY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUTTER AND HESITATED AS IF IT WAS LOSING POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUTTER. AS A RESULT, THE CLUTCH PLATES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE JUMPED AS IF IT WOULD ACCELERATE AT A HIGH SPEED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO MOVE FORWARD AND SHOOK FORCEFULLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE SHIFTING INTO GEAR. THE DEALER MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO RESET THE COMPUTER SYSTEM, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
WHEN THE CAR IS AT A STOP, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS WARM, WHEN YOU START TO TAKE OFF THE VEHICLE JERKS AND DOES NOT PROPERLY ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. AT AN INTERSECTION OR WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND PROPERLY AND CAUSE A DANGER TO PASSENGERS AND ALL OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD
PREVIOUSLY, DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING INTO REVERSE WHILE THE GEAR SELECTOR IS IN "D" DRIVE, I BACKED INTO A FEMALE PEDESTRIAN HITTING HER AND ALMOST RUNNING HER OVER. THERE ARE STILL SCRATCHES FROM HER RINGS ON MY BACK BUMPER. FORD HAS PERFORMED NUMEROUS TSB'S AND RECALLS TO "FIX" THE ISSUE. UPON THE MOST RECENT TSB AND RECALL UPDATE, I WAS PROMISED IT WOULD TAKE CARE OF ANY ISSUES, INCLUDING AN ISSUE WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER AND SEARCH FOR A GEAR BEFORE ENGAGING AND SPINNING OUT FROM A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 30 MILES, I NOTICED THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH, SHAKING, AND SLOWING DOWN WHILE IN IDLE. I STOPPED FOR A REFUEL. I GOT BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND CALCULATED MY MPG'S AS I ALWAYS DO - ONLY 19MPG, WHICH FORD SAYS IS "WITHIN SPEC" AS LONG AS IT IS NOT MORE THAN 8MPG OFF. (THE ON BOARD MPG CALCULATOR SHOWS 22.7MPG - ALWAYS INCORRECT). IT SHOULD BE 26CITY, 36HWY. I PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN "D" DRIVE (AS WAS ALSO REFERENCED IN THE ON BOARD SCREEN). ONCE PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE'S IN DASH SCREEN FLASHED THAT I WAS IN "R" REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS. I BRAKED, THEN THE ENGINE REVVED AND WENT AUTOMATICALLY BACK INTO "D." I DROVE 2 BLOCKS, AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH IN "D," IT AGAIN SWITCHED TO "R" REVVING THE ENGINE, THEN SLOWED TO A STOP. I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED BEFORE TURNING IT BACK ON. THE DRIVE HOME, IT WOULD JUMP BETWEEN GEARS "SEARCHING." I LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT, AND TODAY IT HAS NOT EXHIBITED THESE ACTIONS. I'M UPLOADING A PHOTO SHOWING THE CAR DOING 35 IN THE "R" POSITION WITH THE RPM JUMPED UP TO 3500. I WAS ACTUALLY GOING FORWARD. IN "R," CAR SHOULD NOT GO OVER 20MPH. THIS IS EVIDENCE THAT IT SWITCHED MID "D" DRIVE. ALSO, THE TIRES ARE STARTING TO FORM PITS AND HAS A CIRCUMFERENCE OF SEPARATION/SPLITTING WHICH DEALERSHIP SAID IS "FINE." THIS IS CAUSING A VIBRATION AND WHIRRING NOISE.
WHEN I TAKE OFF FROM BEING STOPPED, MY CAR DRAGS WITH A VIBRATION. WHEN I PICK UP SPEED ON THE FREEWAY MY CAR SLIDES TO THE LEFT AND I LOSE THE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. MY PHONE NUMBERS HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO BE SYNC TO MY CAR BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL PART IS DEFECTIVE. MY TIRES LIGHT STAYS ON OFF AND ON. IT FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS GETTING LOSER UNDER THE REAR OF MY CAR. ON FOX 2 NEWS THIS MORNING, THEY ANNOUNCED A RECALL ON FORD CAR AXLES. TODAY IS OCTOBER 1, 2015. THE DATE OF THE LAST INCIDENT IS GIVEN BELOW. BUT I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS FOR A WHILE. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE LIGHT AND TIRES, THEY JUST RESET IT. THEY DIDN'T TAKE TIME TO TEST DRIVE IT AND REALLY ADDRESS MY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE A ACCIDENT OR DIE IN MY CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THESE PROBLEMS TAKEN CARE OF.
THE VEHICLE HAS WENT INTO REVERSE ON 3 OCCASIONS WHILE THE GEAR STICK SELECTOR IS IN THE DRIVE POSITION. ONE INCIDENT IT WENT INTO REVERSE, STRIKING A PEDESTRIAN CAUSING INJURY. ON ANOTHER IT WENT INTO REVERSE WHILE ON A FREEWAY, THEN CAME TO A CRAWL AND STOPPED. FORD SENT OUT THEIR FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN AND SAID THAT AN ENGINE CRANKSHAFT SEAL WAS LEAKING (IN ADDITION TO THE CLUTCH SEALS THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED FOR LEAKAGE EARLIER). THE DEALER SAYS THAT THESE LEAKS ARE COMMON AND CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO EXHIBIT ERRATIC BEHAVIOR, INCLUDING GOING INTO REVERSE. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DISPUTE RESOLUTION DEPARTMENT, THEY COULD FIND NO ABNORMAL CODES IN THE COMPUTER OF THE CAR - WHICH COULD BE A WHOLE OTHER DEFECT IN ITSELF. FORD REFUSES TO PROVIDE ME PAPERWORK ON THE TECHNICIAN'S REPORT/REVIEW OF THE VEHICLE AND CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, NOR WILL THEY VERIFY THAT THE FIXES ARE SAFE. FORD WAS "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" THE TRANSMISSION GOING IN REVERSE DURING THEIR 7 MILE TEST DRIVE. A PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THEY TRY NOT TO DRIVE THE CARS VERY FAR AND WITH A COLD TRANSMISSION SO THAT THE ISSUES ARE NOT PREVALENT AND CANNOT BE DUPLICATED AND THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO DIAGNOSE ANYTHING. THEY ALSO VERIFIED THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THESE VEHICLES, AND WITH FORD IN GENERAL TRYING TO AUTHORIZE REPAIRS. I FEEL THAT SOMETHING AS SERIOUS AS THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE "DUPLICATED" IN ORDER TO HAVE A FIX LOOKED INTO. I WISH WE WERE ABLE TO FORM A PETITION WITH THE NHTSA TO FILE A FORMAL INVESTIGATION INTO THE SAFETY PRACTICES OF FORD AND THE SAFETY OF THESE PARTICULAR DPS6 TRANSMISSIONS. SEARCH FORD FIESTA 2011-2014 AND FORD FOCUS 2012-2014 ON THE NHTSA - THEY ARE ALL MADE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGY. I HAVE FILED A LEMON LAW COMPLAINT WITH MY STATE, WHO SEEMED VERY FRUSTRATED WITH FORD.

MY FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK HAS BUILD DATE IN EARLY AUGUST 2014 AND I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP THE SAME MONTH. I FIRST EXPERIENCED SHUDDER AND JERKING AT 16,870 MILES AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 2015-09-25, BUT WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. SUBSEQUENT VISITS TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP RESULTED IN A REPLACEMENT OF THE CLUTCH PACK AND SEAL ASSEMBLY EACH TIME. TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT DATES AND MILEAGE ARE: 2017-08-18 AT 30,357 MILES 2018-09-20 AT 48,138 MILES (TCM WAS REPLACED AT THIS TIME) 2019-07-15 AT 57,898 MILES ("FUEL TANK DEFORMATION" RECALL DONE AT THIS TIME) AROUND A THOUSAND MILES AFTER A "FIX", SHIFTING BECOMES ERRATIC AND UNRELIABLE. IT WILL REV VERY HIGH FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND WILL SOMETIMES SPEED UP ON ITS OWN, ESPECIALLY OBVIOUS WHEN THE CAR SURGES UNEXPECTEDLY IN SLOW TRAFFIC. MY CAR LOST POWER ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH WHEN A "TRANSMISSION FAULT" MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN. THE TCM WAS REPLACED AFTER - ALONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION - WAS REPLACED AS A RESULT. THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR IS UNRELIABLE AT BEST, DANGEROUS AT WORST. IT IS INCONSISTENT AND DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY RESPOND TO ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN - WHEN THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION - I WAS I WAS DRIVING IT WRONG. THIS IS MY FIRST NEW CAR AND I CANNOT COUNT ON IT NOT TO LEAVE ME STRANDED OR PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WOULD SELL IT, BUT THE VALUE HAS PLUMMETED DUE TO UNRESOLVED TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND SO I'M STUCK HAVING IT REPEATEDLY "FIXED" UNTIL THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT.
THIS CAR'S TRANSMISSION IS NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. IT GETS STUCK IN GEAR AT TIMES WHERE I TRY TO GET GOING FROM A STOP. ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2015, WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH IN THE CARPOOL LANE, THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED ON HIM AND LOSS ALL POWER TO THE CAR. A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH IN AN ORANGE TRIANGLE STATED "STOP SAFELY NOW". SINCE HE WAS IN THE CARPOOL LANE, HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GET THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE. HE WAS STRANDED IN A BUSY CARPOOL LANE AND ALMOST GOT REAR END FROM BEHIND WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY CUT OFF ALL POWER AND CAME TO A STOP. THIS HAS PUT MY SON IN A GREAT DANGER SITUATION!!! HE COULD HAVE GOT REAR ENDED AND THE STALLING OF THE CAR COULD HAVE CAUSED A MULTI-CARS ACCIDENT IN THE CARPOOL LANE ON THE FREEWAY. SOMEHOW HE MANAGED TO ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER TURNING THE CAR ON, OFF AND OPENING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND CLOSING IT SEVERAL TIME. THE CAR CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON AND OFF FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. WE FINALLY GOT THE CAR INTO FORD DEALERSHIP SEPTEMBER 24, 2015. AT THE TIME OF THIS REPORT, FORD DEALERSHIP HAS NOT CALL ME WITH A CAUSE FOR THE ISSUE. I ALSO NOTED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE THAT WAS ISSUED FROM FORD FOR THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE FOR MODEL 2012 TO 2014. THE SERVICEMAN AT FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THAT RECALL LIST YET MY SON STILL ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION REPORT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. I DONT THINK FORD HAS DONE ENOUGH TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

2014 FORD FOCUS WITH 78*** MILES. ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO USE, FAR MORE DIFFICULT THAN A HYDRAULIC VEHICLE WITH A POWER STEERING FAILURE. IT FELT AS IF SOMETHING WAS LOCKED UP INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

THIS ISSUE HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "2014 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES" REVEALS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND MEDIA COVERAGE OF THIS ONGOING ISSUE. THE JERKING, SHUDDERING, GRINDING, AND STALLING HAVE YET TO CEASE AND IT'S BECOMING MORE OF A HAZARD & EXTREMELY STRESSFUL TO DRIVE THE CAR ON A DAILY BASIS. I HAVE TO DRIVE 100 MILES A DAY ROUND TRIP FOR WORK. THE SERVICEMAN AT MIKE REICHENBACH SAID IT WOULD NEVER BE MORE THAN 80% DUE TO THE TYPE OF CLUTCH IN THE TRANSMISSION IS FOR A STRAIGHT DRIVE VEHICLE. AS OF TODAY MY CAR IS JUST AS BAD AS EVER IF NOT WORSE, I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE SO FAR AS NOT BE IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT LOOKING FOR IT TO HAPPEN ANYDAY WITH THE ISSUES IN THE TRANSMISSION. 2014 FORD FOCUS JERKS ON TAKE OFF WHEN ACCELERATING. DANGEROUS IN WET CONDITIONS. NUMEROUS TIMES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER AND FINALLY HAVE HAD A CLUTCH REPLACED AND ISSUED PERSISTED. DEALER SAID THIS CONDITION IS NORMAL AND STILL HAPPENS EVERYDAY.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle jerked and hesitated to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. The contact stated that on several occasions, the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the accelerator pedal, causing the contact to pull to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic, where unknown repairs were completed; however, the failure recurred. The contact received notice of Ford Campaign Number: 14M02. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the TCM and the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the TCM would be covered under the campaign; however, she would be charged a repair and labor fee for the transmission clutch replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

I ASK IF HE HAD DRIVEN THE CAR AND HE SAID HE DID AND NOTICED THE ISSUES I WAS TALKING ABOUT BUT FORD SAYS THAT IS THE NATURE OF THIS TRANSMISSION.

EVEN THOUGH I UNDERSTAND THE OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FORD FOCUS DCT IS DIFFERENT WHEN COMPARED TO A TRADITIONAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THE ERRATIC AND ANOMALOUS OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF THIS DESIGN IS POORLY EXECUTED.

SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED FOR SEVERAL TRANSMISSION FAILURES AT SEVERAL OTHER DEALERS INCLUDING RIVER VIEW FORD (2200 US-30, OSWEGO, IL 60543, 888-994-1003), ART HILL FORD LINCOLN (901 W LINCOLN HWY, MERRILLVILLE, IN 46410, 219-738-5300), AND VAN DRUNEN FORD (3233 183RD ST, HOMEWOOD, IL 60430, 708-798-1668). FOR THE RECENT FAILURE, VAN DRUNEN FORD REPLACED THE CLUTCH. THE CONTACT REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR DUE TO ALL THE PREVIOUS RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,263.
THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW. AS I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER REQUIRING ME TO QUICKLY PUSH THE GAS PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR TO AVOID GETTING REAR-ENDED. THE CAR ONLY SLIGHTLY ACCELERATED, THEN JERKED FORWARD INTO A HARD ACCELERATION AND SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO EXPLODE. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW ABOUT THIS BEHAVIOR, (AND TRY TO TAKE STEPS TO AVOID SCENARIOS LIKE THIS), THE OCCURRENCE OF THIS BEHAVIOR IT IS VERY REGULAR, (SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK), YET ERRATIC AND UNPREDICTABLE, MEANING I CAN NOT TAKE MEASURE THAT GUARANTEE IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ERRATIC BEHAVIOR ONLY TO BE TOLD IT WILL GET BETTER AS I DRIVE IT AS THE TRANSMISSION LEARNS MY DRIVING HABITS AND WILL ADAPT. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY CARS AND TRUCKS FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM DRIVING ANY TYPE VEHICLE. I CAN EMPHATICALLY STATE THAT THIS TRANSMISSION HAS NOT ADAPTED TO ANYTHING. AT ALL. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE MORE MILES I PUT ON THE CAR WAITING FOR IT TO ADAPT, AS PER THE DEALER, THE FURTHER AWAY I GET FROM BEING PROTECTED BY ANY TYPE LEMON LAW. MY BASIC COMPLAINT IS THAT THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION AND IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN FEBRUARY 2015. AND, I AM TOLD BY FORD TO JUST DRIVE IT BECAUSE THIS IS NORMAL!?!
VEHICLE WAS LOSING POWER, ROUGH IDLING AND STALLING WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS FOUND TO HAVE 2 CYLINDERS WITH LOW COMPRESSION AND METAL IN ENGINE. FORD CASE#7853581 ENGINE WAS REPLACED. VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP FOR 9 DAYS. FORD REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER DOES NOT RESPOND TO MY EMAILED QUESTIONS. AFTER REPAIR CAR DOES NOT START UP IMMEDIATELY, GRADUAL PROBLEM UNTIL 9 DAYS AFTER ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED, THE CAR DOES NOT START AT ALL. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND HAS NOW BEEN THERE FOR 2 DAYS. I FEAR THAT AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND BELIEVE THAT IT IS NOT SAFE.
THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP PENNYRILE FORD IN HOPKINSVILLE KY. HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS EVERY SINCE MY DAUGHTER HAS HAD THE CAR. YET JUST PATCHES IT UP. SHE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THEM. NOW THAT WARRANTY IS OUT SHE HAS TO PAY. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN IN A PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES I HAVE BEEN TOLD. YET THE PLACE THAT SOLD THE CAR TO HER DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBLE OR EVEN FORD MOTOR. YOU CAN REACH HER AT THIS NUMBER. [XXX] ASK FOR [XXX]. THE CAR WAS FAULTY WHEN PURCHASED. "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AT ~18K MILES, 17 MONTHS INTO OWNERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESS WAY AT ~35 MPH. CAR POWERED OFF AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT NEXT STOPLIGHT, WAS STRANDED BEFORE INTERSECTION. CAR DID POWER UP AGAIN AND WAS DRIVEABLE AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING DRIVER DOOR, WAITING SEVERAL MINUTES, AND TURNED POWER OFF AND ON.
WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP, I SIGNALED AND STARTED TO PULL OUT. WHILE PULLING OUT, THE CAR JERKED BACKWARDS AND HESITATED. A CAR BEHIND ME WAS A FEW INCHES AWAY FROM HITTING ME. DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION HESITATING IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IN MY 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED TWICE AND WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP ASAP FOR A 3RD REPAIR.
