I LEASED 2014 FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC IN EARLY OCTOBER 2014, NOW IT HAS 1082 MILES ON ODOMETER. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED AFTER ABOUT MONTH AFTER OWNING THE CAR, MY DAUGHTER REVERSED THE CAR OUT OF DRIVE WAY INTO THE ROAD. I WAS WITH HER ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. ON CHANGING THE GEAR TO "D" IT LOST POWER. I ALSO VERIFIED TO MAKE SURE CAR WAS IN DRIVE MODE (GREEN ARROW WAS ON). NO RESPONSE ON PRESSING ACCELERATOR. NO OTHER MESSAGES ON THE DASH BOARD. TURNED OFF AND TURNED ON AGAIN AFTER A FEW SECONDS, CAR WORKED FINE. *TR
IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASING THE CAR IT STARTED HESITATING AS IF IT WOULD STALL FROM A STOP ON CITY STREETS, WHILE TURNING, AND ALMOST EVERY TIME IT ACCELERATES FROM A STOP, IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE IN PARK OR NEUTRAL IN ORDER FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. IT OCCURS ALSO WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. FORD REPLACED THE CLUTCH 3 TIMES, AT 6779, 13844, AND 20156 MILES. IT IS NOW BEHAVING IN THE SAME WAY, THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND CHUGS ALONG. FORD STATED THIS JUNE AT 39030 MILES THAT THE CAR IS BEHAVING WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS, HOWEVER IT IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT IT DID BEFORE WHEN THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH.I AM HESITANT TO BELIEVE THIS IS THE TRUTH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITH 48 HOURS THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH ACCOMPANIED WITH A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND/OR THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THESE OCCURRED IN DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT SCENARIOS: WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, WHILE BRAKING, AND TWO OCCURRENCES WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH AND 35 MPH. THE BRAKES AND STEERING THANKFULLY STILL WORKED HOWEVER ACCIDENTS ALMOST OCCURRED IN THE TWO HIGHER SPEED SCENARIOS. THE VEHICLE COULD BE RESTARTED AFTER IT WAS TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN. THE WARNING WOULD DISAPPEAR WITH NO FURTHER INFORMATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT LOST POWER STEERING AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FENDER TO THE REAR QUARTER PANEL WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SHUDDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAGERSTOWN FORD (1714 MASSEY BLVD, HAGERSTOWN, MD 21740, (301) 733-3673) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V514000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,999.
THE CAR CONSTANTLY HAS SEVERE SHUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING. ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH, ON A N AUTOMATIC CAR AT 70K MILES, AND IT IMMEDIATELY HAD THE SAME ISSUES THE DEALERSHIP SAID COULDNT BE FIXED.
THE TRANSMISSIONS IN MY 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS NEVER OPERATED PROPERLY. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM MAHWAH FORD IN OCTOBER 2014. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND SHUDDERS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN FIRST GEAR. IT BEHAVES AS IF SOMEONE JUST LEARNING TO OPERATE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE IS BEHIND THE WHEEL. THIS MAKES IS VERY DANGEROUS TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP WHEN ENTERING A ROADWAY. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MANY OCCASIONS, BUT WAS TOLD THIS BEHAVIOR IS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE. MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FEEL SAFE DOING SO. TWICE THE DEALERSHIPS SAID THEY APPLIED SOFTWARE UPDATES TO THE VEHICLE, BUT THAT DID NOTHING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR, BUT DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS, I AM NOT ABLE TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT. PLEASE HELP GET THESE UNSAFE VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD.

I FILED A COMPLAINT LAST MONTH ON 9/17/14 #10637121 ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION GRINDING, LURCHING FORWARD AND SHIFTING POORLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY "RESET THE TRANSMISSION" AND I WAS ADVISED TO DRIVE THE CAR NICE AND WAS HANDED A PAPER ON THE TRANSMISSION ON THE FOCUS. ON 10/26/14 (9606 MILES), I HAD A MAJOR COOLANT LEAK AND HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE THE NEXT DAY. WHILE THERE I ALSO ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN. I WAS ARGUED WITH AND HANDED A PAPER ON THE DUAL CLUTCH MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND WHAT TO LISTEN FOR. I EXPLAINED THAT WHAT I WAS NOTICING (GRINDING, LURCHING AND HITTING THE GAS AND THE CAR NOT GOING) WAS NOT NORMAL AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD "LOOK" AT THE TRANSMISSION BUT WITH THEM RESETTING IT, THERE WAS PROBABLY NOTHING THEY CAN DO. AFTER A DAY AND A HALF OF MISDIAGNOSIS OF WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR, I WAS ADVISED THAT MY HEATING CORE WAS LEAKING AND TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS FINE (NO LEAKS). I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND INSISTED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. HE AGREED TO TEST DRIVE IT AND CALLED AWHILE LATER AND SAID THAT THEY HAD HOOKED IT UP TO A MACHINE TO TEST THE VIBRATIONS IN THE ENGINE AND THAT MY FOCUS ENGINE VIBRATIONS FAR EXCEEDED THE NORMAL AND THEY WOULD BE APPROVED BY FORD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I JUST GOT MY CAR BACK TODAY AND ON THE SERVICE ORDER THEY 1) REPLACED THE HEATING CORE AND 2) REPLACED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. WHEN THEY TOOK APART THE OLD CLUTCH, THEY FOUND SHARDS OF CLUTCH IN THE BELL-HOUSING AND METALLIC FLAKES. SO FOR NOTHING BEING WRONG, SHARDS OF CLUTCH SOUND SERIOUS TO ME!! MY CAR IS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD (ONE ROAD TRIP TO NORTH CAROLINA) AND IT HAS LOST VALUE AND I WORRY ABOUT FUTURE CLUTCH ISSUES. THE 2014 FORD FOCUS STILL ONLY HAS A STANDARD WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH. *TR
WHILE PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. AN ALARM CHIMED BUT NO INFORMATION DISPLAYED. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE USING ALL OF MY STRENGTH AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO DRIVE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY THE STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THE SECOND TIME WAS DURING A K TURN. IT WAS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER OUT OF THE TURN BUT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT THE STEERING RETURNED. NO ALARM OR INFORMATION DISPLAYED. THE THIRD TIME WAS TURNING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. AN ALARM CHIMED AND "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" DISPLAYED. FORTUNATELY I WAS CLOSE TO A DEALERSHIP AND ABLE TO STEER IT THERE AS I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE STRENGTH TO STEER IT HOME THROUGH TOWN AND WOULD NOT HAVE WANTED TO RISK TRYING IT ON THE INTERSTATE. I'M WAITING TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY WILL SAY. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED DUE TO HESITATION OF ACCELERATION WHEN THE GAS IS PRESSED. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY CAR TO FORD FOR MY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM 3 TIMES! HESITATION/SHUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING. FORD CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL? SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE WHEN DRIVING. THEY WILL NOT "FIX" THE PROBLEM. A CAR SHOULD NOT OPERATE THAT WAY WITH NO RESOLUTION. MY CONCERN IS THIS HAS A POTENTIAL OF BEING A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC. IT IS DIFFICULT OPERATING THE CAR ON HILLS, CAR ROLLS BACKWARD WHEN ACCELERATING!! CAR IS STILL NEW AND IN WARRANTY.
WHEN DRIVING VECHICAL IT WILL SOMETIMES SHUTTER WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE AND WHEN I STOPS AT A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN AND I ACCELERATE THE CAR TO GO THE CAR WILL LUNG FORWARD AT TIMES. I HAVE A LITTLE OVER 17,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND AS OF AUGUST 7TH 2017 THE CLUCHES HAVE TO BE REPLACED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND IT BEGAN TO SPUTTER. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT ACCELERATED THEN JERKED AND DROPPED DOWN TO 50 MPH WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE GAS. AT TIMES, IT SLOWED NEARLY TO A STOP THEN WOULD LURCH FORWARD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON, THE WARNING LIGHT WENT AWAY. HAVING TO TRANSPORT YOUR CHILDREN DAILY MAKES IT A CONCERN ESPECIALLY UPON READING REPORTS ABOUT OTHER OWNERS OF THIS 2014 FORD FOCUS ARE HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEM FOR WHICH NOTHING IS BEING DONE. *TR
TRANSMISSION AT HIGHWAY SPEED JUMPS OUT OF GEAR. HAD FORD LOOK AT IT AND THEY WOULD NOT EVEN DRIVE IT JUST PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND SAID ITS FINE. ALSO IT SLIPS WHEN PULLING OUT. WORST CAR THAT I'VE OWNED NEVER BUY ANOTHER HAD 2007 WITH NO ISSUES
IT STARTED UP AROUND 1500 MILES. THE CAR WOULD MAKE A SOUND AS IF I WAS DRAGGING PLASTIC UNDER IT WHEN I COME TO A STOP OR REVERSE. WHEN I GET ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR WOULD REV TO HIGH RPMS THEN IT WOULD SLIP LIKE AS IF IT MISSED A SHIFT. I HAVE A PROBLEM WHERE I COME TO A STOP AND THE CAR CATCHES UP WITH ITSELF AND LURCHES FORWARD WHERE I HAVE TO SLAM MY BREAKS. WHEN COMING OFF A STOP I REALLY HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT TO THE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR UP TO 25MPH. SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF POWER. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO FORD ALREADY, THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 3 DAYS. IT WAS DONE THE SAME DAY. THEY SAID THEY HAD TO RE-PROGRAM THE SYSTEM. AFTER THEY DID THIS IT SEEMED TO ACCEL AND BRAKE A LOT BETTER. IT DID NOT FIX MY GRINDING/RATTLING SOUND IN THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION LIKE I HAD TOLD THEM IT HAD. I TOLD THEM IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHUTTER OR CLUTCH ISSUE. EVERY WHERE I LOOK IT SAYS THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE BEEN FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS ON THESE MODELS AND STILL NOTHING. ITS COMING TO A POINT IM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. *TR

IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO PART UNAVAILABILITY. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V005000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
SHUTTERING AND JERKING OF TRANSMISSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED AND HESITATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V523000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (GEORGE WALL FORD LINCOLN 700 SHREWSBURY AVE, RED BANK, NJ 07701) TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSIS WAS INCONCLUSIVE. THE MECHANIC WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TRANSMISSION SHIFTING PROBLEMS: HESITATION/JERKING WHILE SHIFTING; THIS PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN BY FORD & THE DEALERS; TRANSMISSION SLIPS. ANYTIME/WHERE I'M DRIVING MY AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION 2014 FOCUS AND PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO OR STARTING IN FIRST GEAR (AS IN FROM A STOP), THE TRANSMISSION RACES AS IF CAUGHT BETWEEN GEARS. THIS MAKES ME PRESS THE ACCELERATOR DOWN MORE TO FORCE IT INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS COASTING ALONG IN NEUTRAL UNTIL IT KICKS INTO GEAR. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN OTHER GEARS - THERE IS LOSS OF FORWARD MOTION. I'VE BEEN TO FORD TO "RESET THE TRANSMISSION GAUGE" 4 TIMES NOW- INCLUDING FOR THE 2 RECALLS FOR THIS DPS6 TRANSMISSION. THE LAST TIME THEY HAD THE CAR I HAD A RENTAL FOR JUST OVER 3 WEEKS WHILE THEY WERE REPLACING PARTS THAT THEY CLAIMED CAUSED THE SLIPPING. SINCE THEN, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN BETTER, BUT WHENEVER I TURN ON THE A/C AND IT'S RAINING OUT, THE PROBLEM RETURNS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE 2ND MONTH OF OWNERSHIP (OCT. 2014) - A 5-YEAR PROBLEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS AND ARTICLES (EG HTTPS://FORD.OEMDTC.COM/1650/14M01-DPS6-TRANSMISSION-CLUTCH-SHUDDER-TRANSMISSION-INPUT-SHAFT-SEAL-WARRANTY-EXTENSION-2011-2014-FORD-FIESTA-FOCUS) THAT RELATE TO FORD'S KNOWLEDGE AND REPAIR ATTEMPTS FOR THIS ISSUE. DATE ON THIS FORM IS FIRST OCCURRENCE, NOT THE LAST
MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION HAS NOT WORKED CORRECTLY SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN 2014. THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THAT THE JERKING WHILE ACCELERATING WAS THE COMPUTER GETTING USED TO MY DRIVING STYLE AND WOULD STOP AFTER A FEW WEEKS. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. IT JERKS, STUTTERS, STALLS, SURGES WITHOUT WARNING. IT'S DANGEROUS. I'VE HAD NEAR MISSES AND HE. I PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND IT STALLS OUT. DRIVING AT LOW RPM IS THE WORST. THIS CAR IS A HAZARD AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED YEARS AGO. BETTER YET FORD SHOULD NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO SELL CARS WITH THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION AFTER THEY KNEW IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING
VEHICLE LOST POWER SUDDENLY WITH A WARNING "STOP SAFELY NOW". SINCE THE SPEED WAS LOW AND THERE WASN'T ANYBODY BEHIND ME, I WAS ABLE TO MARGINALLY PULL OVER FROM THE ROAD. TRIED TO POWER CYCLE SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ERROR MESSAGE WENT AWAY. STARTED TO ROLL AND THE MESSAGE POPPED BACK AGAIN AND REGENERATIVE BRAKING STOPPED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. TRIED 3 TIMES AND EVERY TIME I STARTED TO MOVE THE ERROR MESSAGE WILL KICK IN AND STALL. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TAKING A LOOK AT IT. MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING THE CAR DOESN'T WANT TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE SHE FEARS IF THIS HAPPENS ON A FREEWAY CARPOOL LANE TRAVELING AT 65MPH THERE IS GOING TO BE A PILEUP. *TR
VEHICLE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS HAS SLIPPED/STALLED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. SOMETIMES IT IS FROM A DEAD STOP AND SOMETIMES IT IS AT SPEED. CAR WILL SHUDDER, HIGH REV AND NOT SHIFT, START TO GO AND STALL. I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND FORD HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *TR
I PICKED UP MY REPAIRED/REPLACED CAR YESTERDAY AT 2 PM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE CLUTCH, SEAL AND WIRING ASSEMBLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO "RE-LEARN" MY DRIVING HABITS AND THAT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 2 WEEKS. I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND PARKED IT. MY HUSBAND CAME HOME FROM WORK AND HE STARTED THE CAR AT 5:20PM. HE PLACED THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE. HE HAD TO STOMP ON THE BRAKES. HE REPEATED THIS 3 TIMES. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HER RESPONSE WAS "I WILL GET THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE SHOP". SO WE DECIDE TO GO BACK OUT AND TRY IT AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD MY VIDEO ROLLING. I HAVE IT DOCUMENTED THAT THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE ( THE BACK-UP LIGHTS ARE ON CAMERA) AND THE CAR IS MOVING FORWARD. NOT ONLY DO I NOW HAVE THIS ISSUE MY CAR IS GRINDING AND CLANKING AND MAKING ALL KINDS OF ODD NOISES THAT WEREN'T THERE BEFORE THE REPAIRS WERE DONE. THE VEHICLE ON ACCELERATION SHUTTERS, THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT FORD AND THE NHTSA HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 FORD FOCUS. I DON'T KNOW WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, WHEN PULLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCHES REPLACED ONCE, AND THE VEHICLE STILL SHUTTERS, NOT A MUCH, AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT FALLS WITHIN THE LIMITS SET BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. IT REPEATEDLY OPENS AND CLOSES OVER AND OVER AND STOPS WHEN THE SUN ROOF IS OPEN. SOMETIMES AFTER 10 OR TWENTY TIMES IT STOPS AT OPEN POSITION OR IT WILL CLOSE. THERE IS NO WAY TO CLOSE IT UNLESS TRYING OVER AND OVER UNTIL IT FINALLY CLOSES. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT CLOSE AT ALL NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES OF TRYING AND MUST WAIT UNTIL SOME OTHER TIME TO GET IT TO CLOSE. SPEED OF DRIVING OR WEATHER CONDITIONS SEEM IRRELEVANT TO THE CONDITION. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN (INCLUDING THIS MOST RECENT APPOINTMENT IN A FEW DAYS) 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I AM ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CAR WILL SHUTTER, HESITATE TO SHIFT, OFTEN GRIND UNTIL IT REACHES A HIGHER GEAR. AFTER I TAKE THE CAR IN THE PROBLEM IS GONE FOR ABOUT A MONTH BUT THEN SLOWLY STARTS TO COME BACK THE MORE I DRIVE IT. THE PROBLEM IS MUCH MORE PREVALENT WHEN I AM DRIVING AROUND RESIDENTIAL AREAS WITH A LOT OF HILLS AND STOP SIGN INTERSECTIONS. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS BUT CONSIDERS THEM WITH SPEC FOR THIS TYPE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN YOU BRING THE CAR INTO THE SHOP THE FIRST THING THEY DO IS GIVE YOU A 2 PAGE HANDOUT DESCRIBING HOW THIS AUTOMATIC WORKS BUT MY PROBLEMS ARE MUCH WORSE THAN WHAT THEY DESCRIBE YET THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WE HAVE BEEN AT THE A STOP LIGHT AND IT TRY TO LURCH FORWARD WHEN WE WERE STOPPED. EVERY 6-9 MONTHS WE NEED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT OUR LOCAL DEALER. THE CAR SHUTTERS UPON ACCELERATION, IF IT ACCELERATES AT ALL. IT LURCHES AND SHUTTERS, CONSISTENTLY EVERY 6-9 MONTHS. WE REACHED OUT TO FORD, DIRECTLY, IN JULY OF 2017, AND RECEIVED NO SUPPORT, NO HELP AND NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE WE HAD A BAD CAR. WHILE IN A MEDIAN TURN LANE, I ACCELERATED FORWARD TO TURN LEFT FROM A COMPLETE STOP. AS SOON AS I REACHED THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, THE AUTOMATIC CAR SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND IN TO NEUTRAL, LEAVING ME AT ALMOST A DEAD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY, UPHILL ROAD. WHILE TRYING TO GET THE CAR BACK IN GEAR, I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY TWO CARS COMING UP THE HILL. LUCKILY THEY WERE PAYING ATTENTION, BUT HAD TO SWERVE IN THE NEXT LANE TO AVOID ME. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE DEEMED UNSAFE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR LAST YEAR AND FROM THE GET GO, THE TRANSMISSION JUST DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT. GOING ON THE HIGHWAY SEEMS TO BE OK, BUT YOUR LOWER GEARS THE CAR JOLTS, MAKES LOUD SOUNDS, AND WILL RANDOMLY ACCELERATE AND GO TO HIGH RPM'S. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW CLUTCH AND SEALS AND THAT THE PARTS WOULD TAKE OVER 30 DAYS TO ARRIVE ON 08/24/2015. I INFORMED THE SHOP THAT I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR, AND THEY INFORMED ME A RENTAL WOULD NOT BE SUPPLIED FOR THE NATURE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO DEATHS SO NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.

THE MOTOR WOULD JUST REV BUT THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SELECTED PARK, DRIVE AND REVERSE BUT THEY ALL ACTED AS NEUTRAL.... THE DEALER CAME AND PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND DID SOME SORT OF RESET ON IT IN THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR THEN DROVE BUT THEY STILL TOOK IT WITH THEM TO THE DEALER. THE NEXT DAY THEY TOLD ME THEY DROVE AND TESTED THE VEHICLE ON A MACHINE AND ALL THE PARAMETERS WERE FINE....I TOLD THEM "YOU RESET MY CAR BEFORE TESTING SO OFCOURSE ITS ACTING FINE NOW." I TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT THE CAR BACK AND NOR DID I WANT ANOTHER FORD FOCUS. MIND YOU I HAD TO CARRY NEGATIVE EQUITY FROM THE FIRST ONE TO THIS ONE.
