THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES WHEN STOPPED THEN TO ACCELERATE. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HAVE A FEW ACCIDENTS. THE FRONT SUSPENSION MAKES NOISES . FORD CAN'T SEEM TO FIX EITHER ISSUE. I KNOW A LOT OF OTHER FOCUS OWNERS ARE HAVING ISSUES.
I NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT "TRACKING" WELL ON HIGHWAYS AT THE RECOMMENDED CRUISING SPEED OF 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO "DRIFT" FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WITHIN THE LANE IN WHICH WE ARE TRAVELING. THIS REQUIRES CONSTANT ATTENTION AND CONCENTRATION IN CONTROLLING THE POSITION OF THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CAR GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IT IS LESS NOTICEABLE AS THE HIGHWAY CURVES IN EITHER THE RIGHT OF LEFT DIRECTION. ONE GETS THE IMPRESSION THAT THERE IS FAR TOO MUCH "PLAY" IN THE STEERING WHEEL/COLUMN RELATIVE TO THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE TRAIN MECHANISM. IN ADDITION, THE PROBLEM SEEMS EXAGGERATED DURING HIGHER WIND VELOCITIES. I ASKED MY WIFE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND SHE TOO NOTICED THE PROBLEM. I QUESTIONED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP, AT THE TIME OF MY FIRST SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT, AND ASKED IF THEY COULD DRIVE THE CAR AND "TIGHTEN" THE STEERING WHEEL TO REDUCE THE "PLAY" IN IT. HE TOLD ME THAT THE TEST DRIVE WAS PRETTY NORMAL, THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE STEERING MECHANISM AND THAT THE "SPORT" SET-UP FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL RESULTS IN THAT "FEEL" DURING DRIVING. AS AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER OF 56 YEARS WHO HAS OWNED NUMEROUS AUTOMOBILES, INCLUDING SOME RATHER HIGH END SPORT CARS, THIS EXPLANATION MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHAT-SO-EVER. HE OFFERED ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEST DRIVE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE OF THE SAME MODEL TYPE, BUT I DECLINED AS I SAW NO POINT TO THE EXERCISE. I HAD SEEN AN INVESTIGATIVE REPORT ON THE ABC NATIONAL NEWS PRESENTED BY [XXX] RELATIVE TO REPORTED PROBLEMS BY OTHERS IN THIS REGARD. UPON ACCESSING THIS SIGHT, I FOUND THAT THERE ARE REPORTS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. MY PURPOSE IN SUBMITTING THIS NARRATIVE IS TO PLACE ON THE RECORD A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH THIS FORD PRODUCT IN THE EVENT THAT SOMEONE IS INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE STEERING PROBLEM. HESITATION AND BUCKING WHILE ACCELERATING, GRINDING NOISE, AND ROUGH IDLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON SNOW COVERED ROADS THE WHEEL WELLS FOR THE CAR BECAME PACKED WITH SNOW AND ICE. THE CLEARANCE OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT ALLOW FOR BEING ABLE TO CLEAR THE BUILDUP. STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT AND THE SNOW AND ICE BUILD UP WAS RUBBING ON ALL THE TIRES. EVEN AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN A GARAGE I WAS ONLY ABLE TO CLEAR THE FRONT WHEEL WELLS, THE REAR WHEEL WELLS HAVE A FELT TYPE LINING THAT STICKS IN THE SNOW AND ICE SO IT CANNOT BE REMOVED AND RUBS ON THE TIRES DECREASING THE HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT DROVE ONTO BLACK ICE AND THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT IN A TRAFFIC JAM. WORRIED THAT I WOULD RUN OUT ELECTRICITY, I SHUT OFF THE CAR. WHEN I TRIED TO PROCEED, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, AND A WARNING OF "SAFELY STOP NOW" ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I TRIED "RESTARTING" THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAR WOULD SEEM TO "START," BUT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD -- AS IF THE GEAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, AND WITH A POLICEMAN LEANING INTO THE WINDOW BARKING SUGGESTIONS, THE CAR STARTED AND PROCEEDED. PERHAPS, WHEN I STOPPED TRYING TO START THE CAR, THE CAR WHOLLY POWERED-OFF. ESSENTIALLY "POWER CYCLING" THE CAR. *TR
MY 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS A 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT LURCHES AND/OR SHUDDERS AND/OR HESITATES WHEN TRYING TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE - ALMOST LIKE SOMEONE DRIVING A STICK SHIFT THAT NEVER HAS ONE BEFORE. THIS HAPPENS IF YOU ARE STOPPED AND TRY TO VERY SLOWLY ACCELERATE - COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHILE CREEPING UP TO WHATEVER MAY BE IN FRONT OF YOU. OR - IT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE GOING AT A SLOWER RATE (LESS THAN ABOUT 15 - 20) AND WANT TO JUST SPEED UP A LITTLE. 2014 FORD FOCUS WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM STARTED FROM DAY 1 WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND CONTINUES TO PRESENT. CAR SHUDDERS UNDER SLOW ACCELERATION - LIKE FROM A STOP OR SLOWLY GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS OR AFTER MAKING A TURN OR GOING SLOW IN SCHOOL ZONE OR GOING SLOW IN ANY SPEED RESTRICTED AREA. IT IS ALMOST LIKE SOMEONE THAT IS LEARNING HOW TO START OUT FROM A STOP WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION (FEELS LIKE GAS, BRAKE, GAS, BRAKE, GAS BRAKE).
I HAVE A 2014 FORD FOCUS THAT HAS TRANSMISSION TROUBLES. I DID NOT GET A YEAR OF SAFE SERVICE OUT OF IT. I HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE PLACE I BOUGHT IT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING VERY BAD. WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS THE CAR HESITATES THEN MAKES A GRINDING SOUND AND LURCHES AS THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES, EACH TIME WE GET IT BACK THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. 2014 FORD FOCUS THE TRANSMISSION STUTTERS, GRINDS AND IS VERY SHAKY. UPON ACCELERATION ITS VERY JUMPY AND STUTTERS AND FOLLOWED BY A GRIND NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED ALL THE INDIVIDUAL CLUTCHES. THEY TOLD ME DRIVE IT A BIT. THE STUTTER HAS STOPPED A LITTLE BUT IT STILL STUTTERS AND GRINDS. I TRIED TO IGNORE THIS FOR A WHILE BECAUSE IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT FOR YOUR VEHICLE TO BE IN SHOP. THEY SHOULD REALLY MAKE IT STANDARD FOR ALL FORD DEALERSHIPS TO PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR IF YOUR VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. I BOUGHT A NEW CAR SO THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY PROBLEMS AND NOW I AM ALWAYS HAVING TO BRING IT IN. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY RE PROGRAMMED IT. THE THIRD TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY REPROGRAMMED IT AGAIN AND A WEEK LATER IT IS STILL HAPPENING. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AND UNSAFE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE CAR SEEMED TO BE SLIPPING GEARS/TRANSMISSION. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT ACTED LIKE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ON AND IT WASN'T. WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR HESITATES, SHUTTERS, SLIPS GEARS AND STALLS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR COMPLETELY STALL OUT IN DRIVE AND IN REVERSE. I'M AFRAID TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC UNLESS IT IS COMPLETELY CLEAR. I CALLED ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD TO LEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. WELL I NOW HAVE 7000 MILES ON MY CAR BOUGHT IN FEB 2014 AND IT IS WORSE THAN EVER. TODAY I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP FOR A "COMPUTER UPDATE". THEN WAS TOLD IT'S MORE THAN THAT AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP MY CAR BECAUSE OF CLUTCH. IT'S A NEW CAR AND I SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AND GET HURT. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN THE CAR LUNGES OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR STALLS WHEN I PULL OUT BECAUSE IT HAS A "COMPUTER UPDATE" ISSUE AND I'M KILLED? THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT HE HIMSELF HAD OWNED ONE AND GOT RID OF IT BECAUSE OF THE ISSUES. I WANT SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS ASAP. TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY SHUDDERS AND GRINDS. TRIES TO SHIFT GEARS WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL. ENGINE TRIED TO STALL. VERY LOUD METALLIC NOISE. RETURNED CAR TO DEALERSHIP IN FEBRUARY AND WAS TOLD IT WAS ALL NORMAL. SECOND TIME I WAS GIVEN A PIECE OF PAPER EXPLAINING "NORMAL" NOISES. NONE OF WHICH MY CAR WAS MAKING. THIRD TIME THEY RE-PROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION. CAR IS BEING TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR SAME PROBLEMS THIS WEDNESDAY. FORD HAS KNOWN OF THESE DANGEROUS PROBLEMS SINCE THE 2011. YET THEY CONTINUE TO KNOWINGLY SELL DANGEROUS CARS. AND NO ONE DOES ANYTHING. *TR

UPON LAUNCH OF VEHICLE, THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY LEAVING ME AND MY OCCUPANTS PRONE TO DANGER. THE CAR IS UNDRIVABLE FOR THE 1ST 3 SECONDS YOU APPLY THE GAS. THIS ISSUE, EVEN AFTER THEIR INITIAL "FIX" HAS DONE THIS FROM MILE #01. 90,000 MILES, 5 YEARS, SAFETY OF EVERYONE DRIVING THESE VEHICLES IS COMPROMISED DAILY.

2014 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION NOISE, 38,000 MILES. CAR HAS A GRINDING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS ( UNDER 40 MPH ) CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. CAR WILL ROLL BACKWARDS WHILE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN THE DRIVE POSITION ON AN INCLINE. VERY CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. NOT TO MENTION THE RESALE /TRADE IN VALUE OF THIS CAR IS DECLINING WITH EVERY BAD REPORT ISSUED. THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2014 FOCUS SKIPS/HESITATES/GRINDS!!! THE 2014 FORD FOCUS S COMES STANDARD WITH TRACTION CONTROL WHICH USES BOTH THE ABS MODULE AND THE PCM TORQUE CONTROL TO CONTROL THE VEHICLES MOTION RELATIVE TO THE INTENDED COURSE. THIS IS DONE THROUGH TWO WAYS: 1) THE ABS MODULE CONTINUOUSLY MONITORS AND COMPARES THE ROTATIONAL SPEED OF THE DRIVE WHEELS IN RELATION TO THE NON-DRIVEN WHEELS. AT THE SAME TIME, THE ABS MODULE CALCULATES HOW MUCH ENGINE TORQUE REDUCTION IS REQUIRED TO ELIMINATE THE WHEEL SLIP. IN SNOWY (+2-3?), ICY OR SLIPPERY SURFACES WHERE BOTH FRONT TIRES ARE EQUALLY IN THE SAME CONDITION, THE ABS MODULE MODULATES BRAKE PRESSURE TO BOTH BRAKE CALIPER (S) TO STOP ANY WHEEL SPIN. 2) AT THE SAME TIME, THE ABS MODULE SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE PCM TO REDUCE THE ENGINE TORQUE TO THE REQUESTED LEVEL. WITH BOTH BRAKES BEING APPLIED AND ENGINE TORQUE REDUCED TO A NEAR ?IDLE? STATE WITH THE ACCELERATOR AT ?FULL THROTTLE?, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BECOMES STUCK. BECAUSE THE FORD FOCUS S DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO DISABLE THE TRACTION CONTROL, MY WIFE AND KIDS HAVE CONTINUOUSLY BEEN STRANDED IN A CAR THAT WILL APPLY THE BRAKES AND REDUCE THE ENGINE RPM?S RESULTING IN A CAR THAT WILL NOT MOVE IN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. AS A CONSEQUENCE, THE CAR HAS BEEN REQUIRED TO BE TOWED MANY TIMES IN BELOW ZERO CONDITIONS BECAUSE WE ARE UNABLE TO DISABLE THE TRACTION CONTROL. DEATH OR SEVERE INJURY IS OUR CONCERN BECAUSE "BY DESIGN", THE CAR BECOMES DISABLED WHEN SNOWY INTERSECTIONS AND HIGHWAYS ARE ENCOUNTERED. OUR DISABLED VEHICLE COULD RESULT IN ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO SLAM INTO OUR VEHICLE.
TRANSMISSION JERKS AND GRINDS AT 2200RPM IN FIRST GEAR, GRINDING NOISE WHILE GOING UP HILLS, TRANSMISSION SHAKES AND JERKS WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND, VERY ROUGH AND UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTS, SHIFTS INTO HIGHER GEARS WAY TO SOON THEN WILL DOWNSHIFT OR GO INTO NEUTRAL, HESITATION AND VIBRATION FROM LAUNCH, TRANSMISSION SLIPS AT RANDOM AND WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT , TRANSMISSION SURGES UNDER ACCELERATION ....STEERING SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN WHEN TURNING ON TO STREET THE STEERING WHEEL WANTS TO STAY IN WHATEVER POSITION YOU HAVE IT TURNED AND IS VERY HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAY..RATTLING NOISE LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE COMING FROM FRONT PASSENGER AREA WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR WHILE SITTING AT IDLE IT CAN BE HEARD HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP THREE TIME S FOR RATTLING NOISE AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THE TRANSMISSION FOUR TIMES AND EVERY TIME THEY TELL ME THE DON'T EXPERIENCE IT OR IT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS OR THAT I AM DRIVING THE CAR WRONG...I HAVE A WIFE AND A THREE YEAR OLD AND I AM TERRIFIED FOR THEN TO BE IN THE CAR. *TR
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH FORD'S 'AUTOMATIC/MANUAL HYBRID' TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE BEGAN STUTTERING ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING. PURCHASED VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN JANUARY WITH 44 MILES ON IT. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM FULL STOP, VEHICLE SHUDDERS AS IF THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE AIR INTAKE, FUEL, OR TRANSMISSION. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO TWO SEPARATE FORD DEALERSHIPS (INCLUDING WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED) AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT'S JUST HOW IT RUNS. PREVIOUS CAR WAS A MANUAL. WHOMEVER IS OPERATING THE CLUTCH UNDER THE HOOD, NEEDS A LESSON IN DRIVING! FEELS LIKE VEHICLE IS GOING TO STALL EVERY TIME. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SO MANY TIMES BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
2014 FORD FOCUS ST WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHEN DECELERATING TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT (APPROX 20-10 MPH), AND ENGAGING THE CLUTCH TO COAST WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, THE CAR WILL ALMOST STALL (DROPS TO ABOUT ~500 RPM) AND THEN THE ENGINE "CATCHES ITSELF" AND WILL REV TO 1000-1200 RPM BEFORE SETTLING BACK TO A NORMAL 700-800 RPM IDLE. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM, BUT "AC/ON" ALSO INCREASES LIKELIHOOD OF OCCURRENCES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TRIP. I STOPPED COUNTING AFTER 12 EVENTS IN THE FIRST SEVEN DAYS. THE CAR ALSO "HUNTS" FOR IT'S IDLE SPEED (WITH A WARMED ENGINE) AND VARIES FROM 700-1000 RPM, APPARENTLY AT RANDOM. THERE IS ALREADY A FORD TSB FOR THIS, TSB# 13-09-07, BUT IT CAN ONLY BE ACCOMPLISHED IF AN ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND THROWS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/CODE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS COULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AN ENGINE WHILE STOPPING NEAR OTHER MOTORISTS, LIKE THE RECENT GM IGNITION ISSUE, I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD RECALL ALL THESE VEHICLES. IT IS A 45 MINUTE REPAIR AND APPROX $8 DOLLARS IN PARTS TO REPAIR TWO "CRIMPED WIRE CONNECTIONS" IN THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS, (S132 & S133). THEY NEED TO BE SOLDERED, NOT CRIMPED (6 BARE COPPER WIRES OVERLAID TOGETHER AND CRIMPED). I HAVE BEEN TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS BUT THEY ARE UNDER STRICT FORD GUIDELINES NOT TO ACCOMPLISH THE TSB UNLESS THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/CODE. I EVEN OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND WAS TURNED AWAY BOTH TIMES. I BELIEVE IT IS BETTER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TSB AND REMOVE THE CONCERN THAN TO WAIT FOR AN OWNER SAFETY ISSUE LEADING TO ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND AN ACCIDENT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW. I'M A SINGLE MOM WITH A TIGHT BUDGET SO I WAS LOOKING FOR A VERY DEPENDABLE CAR. I STARTED NOTICING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AFTER THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF BUYING THE CAR. PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS SE ON JANUARY 4, 2014 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE DRIVING IT OFF THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL BOUNCES OR SWAYS BACK AND FORTH. THE FEEL IS SIMILAR TO WHEN IT IS WINDY AND THE CAR IS CAUGHT IN AN AIR GUST. WHEN DRIVING ANY DISTANCE OR A SPEED OVER 10 MPH, THE DRIVER MUST HOLD ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE STEERING WHEEL SWAYS ONE WAY AND ONCE YOU CORRECT IT IS NECESSARY TO CORRECT THE OPPOSITE WAY. THE CAR IS DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK APPROXIMATELY 17 MILES ONE DAY DAILY. BY THE TIME I ARRIVE AT WORK OR HOME MY HANDS HURT FROM HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL SO TIGHTLY. PRIOR TO THE THIRD VISIT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE STEERING ISSUE, A NEW PROBLEM AROSE. AFTER BREAKING TO STOP THE CAR, I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD FAST ENOUGH TO SQUEAL THE TIRES. APPLIED THE BREAK AGAIN, STOPPED, REMOVED FOOT TO ACCELERATE AND CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AGAIN. THIS IS BECOMING AN ONGOING ISSUE. AS OF APRIL 9, 2014 THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES, EACH TIME TO BE TOLD THERE NO PROBLEMS CAN BE FOUND WITH THE CAR. IT DRIVES THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER VEHICLE OF THE SAME MAKE PER THE DEALERSHIP. I'VE BARELY MISSED HITTING THE CENTER BARRIER ON THE FREEWAY, TAKING OUT THE SIDE OF A DELIVERY TRUCK, ACCELERATED FORWARD AT A DANGEROUS SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AND THE STEERING IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. MOST OF THE TIME THE SURGING,BUCKING, SLOW TO RESPOND HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP AND HAVE TO MOVE AFTER A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN. ALSO HAD TO BRING IT IN TO DEALER TO HAVE WIRING FIXED DUE TO VIBRATIONS OF VEHICLE. I HAVE A 5 DOOR HB. ON THE DAY OF THIS INCIDENT, I HAD DRIVEN THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO PROBLEMS (AND NO PRIOR PROBLEMS) AND THE CAR WAS FULLY WARMED, INSIDE AND OUT. THE WEATHER WAS DRY AND SUNNY, THE TEMPERATURE HAD CLIMBED FROM 17F THE PREVIOUS NIGHT TO 36F BY 11AM WHEN THIS INCIDENT REPEATEDLY OCCURRED. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED NORMALLY FROM THE OUTSIDE WHEN I PULLED THE HANDLE, BUT WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT WOULDN'T LATCH (IT BOUNCED BACK FROM THE DOOR JAMMED AND REMAINED AJAR) AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED AN 'OPEN DOOR' WARNING. THE LATCHING MECHANISM IN THE DOOR APPEARED TO BE IN THE PROPER POSITION, BUT COULD EASILY BE MOVED WITH MY FINGER (RESISTANCE WAS FELT IN THIS MECHANISM ON ALL OTHER DOORS.) AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE DOOR FINALLY APPEARED TO LATCH AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DID NOT SHOW AN 'OPEN DOOR' WARNING. WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT, AND AGAIN AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AT 10MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED (FORTUNATELY, THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS UNOCCUPIED.) AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS EACH TIME, I WAS ABLE TO AGAIN CLOSE THE DOOR. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION/REPAIR, THE DOOR OPENED 3 SEPARATE TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (APPROXIMATELY 55MPH.) IN ABOUT 6 MILES DISTANCE. WHILE DRIVING, I HAD TO DRIVE THE REMAINING DISTANCE LEANING OVER THE PASSENGER SEAT AND HOLDING THE INTERIOR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM OPENING AGAIN BEFORE I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED AND LUBRICATED THE LOCKS AND LATCHES, BUT FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT IT WAS "...NORMAL FOR THE DOORS TO COME OPEN OR NOT LATCH ON COLD DAYS.", AND OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE LAST FEW DAYS. IT JUST OCCURRED AGAIN AT 4,032 MILES ON THE SAME DAY. *TR
MY CAR HAS A BIG ISSUE WITH THE GEAR SYSTEM. MY HUSBAND AN I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW. AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, WE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD DELAY SHIFTING INTO GEAR INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST AND GRADUALLY BECAME WORSE. THE CAR HAS A BIG PROBLEM CHANGING GEARS, THAT IS NOT SAFE AND THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINS ABOUT THAT ON THE INTERNET. I COMPLAINED WITH FORD AND THEIR FINAL ANSWER WAS: FURTHERMORE, I HAVE REVIEWED IF THERE ARE ANY WARRANTIES ON THE VEHICLE AND I AM NOT SEEING ANY. I HAVE ALSO CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN ACTIVE ON THE VEHICLE AND THERE ARE NONE AT THIS TIME. I HAVE A 2014 FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK. IT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN AUGUST 2013 AND PAID IN FULL. I WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP AT LESS THAN 15,000 MILES BECAUSE OF THE GRINDING, STALLING, HESITATIONS, AND JERKING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING, STOPPING, AND ACCELERATION. MY CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND I HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP COUNTLESS TIMES, FOR A "COMPUTER RESET". THE JERKING, SHUDDERING, GRINDING, AND STALLING HAVE YET TO CEASE AND IT'S BECOMING MORE OF A PAIN TO DRIVE THE CAR ON A DAILY BASIS. CONSTANTLY IN SHOP AND CONTINUAL ISSUES WITH STALLING (ONCE, STOPPED IN 65MPH TRAFFIC ON MAJOR INTERSTATE I95 IN LEFT LANE), SYNCH AND PHONE SYSTEM HAS NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY. 3 WEEKS AGO, AFTER STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN PHILADELPHIA, DEPRESSED GAS PEDAL AND WENT IN TOTAL REVERSE! DID THIS TWICE BEFORE COMPLETELY TURNING CAR OFF AND HAD TO BE TOWED.
AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR BRAND NEW FROM A FORD DEALER IN DAYTON, OH IN DECEMBER 2013, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHUDDER OF THE CAR WHEN INITIALLY ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER 1,500 AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR AND THAT NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. I CURRENTLY HAVE 94,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP EVERY 10-15K TO INQUIRE OF A FIX FOR THE CAR. AROUND 60,000 MILES IN THEY FINALLY SAID THAT THEY HAD A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE FIX. THEY PERFORMED THIS UPDATE AND THE ISSUE WENT AWAY FOR A FEW WEEKS BUT RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER.

THE SHUDDERING CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION ISSUE SEEMS TO COME STANDARD WITH THESE CARS. I BOUGHT A 2013 TITANIUM FOR MY WIFE AND I AND WE BOTH IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE SHUDDERING ON TAKE-OFFS. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE SHUDDERING IS CAUSED BY OUR METHOD OF DRIVING, AND WERE ACTUALLY TOLD TO ACCELERATE MORE FROM STOPS. WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS CAR IS LIKE HAVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND HAS TO BE DRIVEN SIMILAR, HUH, BUT I BOUGHT AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND AFTER DRIVING FOR OVER 30 YEARS I HAVE TO RETRAIN ON HOW TO DRIVE THIS CAR. WE PAID ALOT FOR THIS CAR AND HOPE THAT FORD TAKES CARE THIS PROBLEM AND STOP TELLING THESE DEALERSHIP TO TELL THE CUSTOMER THAT THEY ARE DRIVING THE CAR WRONG. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO A CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILURE. THE TRANSMISSION JERKED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WHILE AT A STOP AND ON A HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE FOR TWO DIFFERENT RECALL REMEDIES, WHICH FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V698000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES, STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE PARTS MAY NOT BECOME AVAILABLE UNTIL MID 2017. EVERY TIME I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION REPAIR OR RECALL ITS WORSE THAN BEFORE THEY WORKED ON IT. EVERY TIME I TAKE OFF IT JUMPS & JERKS, EVERY TIME I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR IT DOWN SHIFTS.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP VEHICLE SHUTTERS, GRINDS AND JOLTS FORWARD. WHEN TURNING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN FOR TWO MONTHS. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY AND DRIVABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR JERKS QUITE A FEW TIMES BEFORE ACCELERATING. DURING THAT TIME IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR WILL STOP WORKING. THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY DURING EVERY TIME I DRIVE. *TR
MY CAR WAS NOT FIXED. THE CAR CONTINUES TO HESITATES OR PUTTERS WHILE DRIVING. I WAS WONDERING IF THE GOVERNMENT COULD FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. I TALKED TO A REPRESENTATIVE AT CORPORATE OFFICE AND THAT PERSON SEEMS TO NOT BE CONCERNED. HE TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY OPEN RECALL WAS CONCERNING THE DOOR LATCH. RECALLS WERE VIN SPECIFIC. HOW OUTRAGEOUS IS THAT. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I AM A FAITHFUL FORD PURCHASER. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ITS PRODUCT. CAN AN RECALL BE REISSUED DUE TO LACK OF EFFECTIVENESS? WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE, GAS PEDAL WAS NON RESPONSIVE. TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH IN 5TH GEAR. DECELERATION OCCURRED IN 5TH GEAR. WAS ONLY ABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED IN 4TH GEAR, BUT WAS UNABLE TO GO ANY FASTER THAN 50- 55 MPH WITH GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE DISPLAYED SOME SHUDDERING AND SLIGHT SPUTTER EFFECT. IF VEHICLE WAS PLACED BACK INTO 5TH GEAR DECELERATION WOULD CONTINUE. TACHOMETER SHOWED 3000 RPM REGARDLESS OF GEAR PLACEMENT. NO WARNING LIGHTS, OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. TWO DAYS LATER VEHICLE HAD THE SAME SYMPTOM BUT ONLY MOMENTARILY. *TR
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW FROM FORD. THE SALES PERSON TOOK US ON A TEST DRIVE DURING WHICH TIME HE ADVISED THAT HE CAR HANDLED "DIFFERENTLY" BUT THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THE WAY THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD OPERATE. THE VEHICLE STALLS ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT, HESITATES TO GO JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING AND SKIPS. WHEN SITTING IN TRAFFIC OR ON SURFACE ROADS WITH ALOT OF STOP AND GO THE VEHICLE JERKS, HESITATES AND ATTEMPTS TO STALL OUT. THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES WHERE IT HAS JERKED SO BAD IT SEES THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO FALL OUT. FORD HAS REPEATEDLY SAID TO DRIVE IT AND IT WILL WORK ITSELF OUT. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE, BUT NO FIX HAS BEEN MADE. THE COST OF REPEATEDLY GOING TO "SERVICE" THESE CONCERNS IS COSTLY AND TIME CONSUMING, ESPECIALLY WHEN NO RESOLUTION SEEMS AVAILABLE.WE ARE EXTREMELY FEARFUL THAT THE VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. SIMILAR TO OTHERS GRINDING NOISE , CLUTCH IS SLIPPING . VERY BAD IN THE BEGINNING , GRINDING NOISE IS COMING JUST BECAUSE THE CLUTCH IS SLIPPING . OIL LEAKAGE MAYBE THE PROBLEM , MANY PEOPLE SAID THAT IT IS FINE AFTER SEALS REPLACEMENT IN THE BEGGING BUT NOT AFTER . I AM VERY MECHANICALLY INCLUDED GUY AND I AM THINKING THAT THERE IS SOMETHING IS WRONG ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION SHAFTS OR CRANKSHAFT , NO MATTER HOW MANY SEALS THEY WILL INSTALL , IF THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE ARE BENT, NOT MACHINED CORRECTLY OR HAVE A PLAY THE SEALS WILL ALWAYS LEAK . IN THE RESULT THE OIL WILL CONTAMINATE THE CLUTCH . *TR
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS UPON ACCELERATION. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS ALMOST STALLED OUT ALMOST CAUSING US TO BE REAR ENDED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. 2ND TIME THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED. CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AWAITING OUTCOME THIS TIME. VERY UPSETTING CONSIDERING THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A REPUTABLE COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR MANY YEARS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND I HOPE THEY DO RECALL ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
