TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND RATTLING WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN LOWER GEARS
THE TRUNK OPENS ON ITS OWN WELL DRIVING THE BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T WORK AND THE CAR JERKSWELL SHIFTING WELL DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND STREET
THE CAR STALLS WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK. THE CAR ALSO LOOSE POWER AS IT TAKES OFF FROM A STOP AND HAS TO BE RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT RESTARTS WHICH THEN CAUSES THE BATTERY LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON INDICATING THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. THE ACT LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL WHENEVER I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN TRAFFIC AND THIS IS A VERY STRESSFUL AND SOMETIMES HORRIFYING FEELING TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND DRIVING IN TRAFFIC JAMS IN THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA AREA. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO. WITH 1.5 MILLION CUSTOMERS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN DANGER OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT FORD BUY BACK ALL OF THESE CARS BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAYS.. PLEASE ADVISE..

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.

WHEN DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND DROPPED TO 40 MPH BUT REGAINED POWER IN ABOUT 40 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BEDFORD FORD LINCOLN (10050 IN-37, BEDFORD, IN 47421, (812) 279-8121) WHERE THEY ADJUSTED THE CLUTCH TO A 216 LEVEL OF RPMS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES BACK FOR SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 11, 2018, THE WOULD ADJUST THE CLUTCH TO A HIGHER RPM LEVEL. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STICK IN LINE OF SITE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING. HAS BEEN IN SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL CONTINUES TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
DRIVER'S SEAT TRACK TO SEAT ATTACHMENT POINT BECOMES LOOSE AFTER 6K MILES, CAUSING SEAT TO MOVE DURING LATERAL LOADS. DEALER REPLACED SEAT TRACK AND ISSUE REPLICATED IN 6K MILES. DEALER FIX WAS TO USE WORM CLAMPS TO REPAIR. THEY STATE THAT THEY WENT TO AN INTERNET FORUM FOR A FIX. AFTER COMPLAINTS, DEALER REPLACED WITH ANOTHER NEW SEAT TRACK. STATE MANUFACTURER HAS NO TSB OR DESIGN CHANGE YET

The contact pulled over, parked the vehicle, and restarted the vehicle after several attempts and operated as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the TCM (Transmission Control Module) and clutch might have failed. The contact stated that the TCM was replaced three times however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired after the last failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
ON MY 2016 FORD FOCUS SEDAN AUTOMATIC, I AM EXPERIENCING SHUDDERING SHIFTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I COUNTED THE SHIFTING POINTS WHEN I ACCELERATE THE CAR. THE CAR SHUDDERS FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. I HAVE TRIED TO LET THE CAR SHIFT ON ITS OWN INSTEAD OF FORCING IT TO SHIFT BUT THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT.

WHEN I DRIVE MY "BRAND NEW" 2016 FORD FOCUS THAT ONLY HAS 11K MILES ON IT, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, STALLS, AND SHUTTERS. IT'S A ROAD HAZARD BECAUSE WHEN I ACCELERATE THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE POWER TO ACCELERATE WITH UP COMING TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD, ESPECIALLY THE HIGHWAY. NOT ONLY DOES THIS CAUSE A HAZARD FOR ME AND PEOPLE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT IT'S ALSO AN EMBARRASSING ORDEAL TO DEAL WITH. I HAVE WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP I HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR THROUGH 5 TIMES! FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO SO, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I FEEL VERY STUCK.
I FIRST NOTICED WHEN I WENT UP AN INCLINE THAT THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO HAVE A SLIGHT STUTTER. THEN ON A RECENT TRIP TO NORTH CAROLINA AND WAS GOING UP A LONG HILL THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR AND THE RPM REVEVED UP THEN IT SLIPPED BACK INTO GEAR.ALSO IN FUTURE YOU MIGHT PUT THE TRUNK BUTTON IN A DIFFERENT PLACE SO IT IS NOT HIT EVERY TIME YOU TURN OFF THE HEAD LIGHTS. BUT BY THE TIME I GOT BACK TO TEXAS THE TRANSMISSION HAD SHUTTERED,SLIPPED AND GONE BACK INTO GEAR MANY TIMES. WHEN I WOULD KICK THE CAR DOWN TO GET INTO THE PASSING LANE AND PASS SOMEONE IT WOULD TRY TO STALL WHICH CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS IF ITS HEAVY TRAFFIC SITUATIONS. AND THESE WERE IN HIGHWAY SITUATIONS LIKE I-20 IN DALLAS AND ON THE ROAD OUTSIDE OF AREAS LIKE THAT. IT WAS LESS NOTICEABLE WITH INTOWN DRIVING BUT STILL THERE.THE LESSER PROBLEMS STARTED APPROX. THREE WEEKS AFTER I GOT THIS CAR AND ALWAYS AT A STREET BY THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HERE IN CLYDE BECAUSE ITS THE ROUTE I TOOK TO TAKE MY GRANDSON TO SCHOOL. THE MAJOR PROBLEMS I HAD WERE ON THE TRIP TO AND FROM NORTH CAROLINA WHERE MY SISTER WAS ON HER DEATH BED AND THE DOCTOR TOLD THE FAMILY TO GET THERE.

I WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT ON 3/18 AT FAULT OF ANOTHER DRIVER TRAVELING EAST, PASSING A STOP SIGN, WHILE I WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE HIT IMPACTED THE FRONT OF MY DRIVER'S LEFT SIDE. THE FORCE WAS HARD ENOUGH TO DESTABILIZE MY VEHICLE AND GO INTO 'CRASH MODE' CALLING THE POLICE VIA BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY. EMS WAS CALLED TO CHECK MY SHOULDER, LOWER BACK AND HEAD WHICH IS IN A LOT OF PAIN THIS MORNING. THING IS NO AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. I WAS IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHAKES AND SLIPS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER SLOWING BELOW 3RD GEAR. ONCE THE TRANSMISSION FULLY ENGAGES IT DOES SO WITH FORCE AND JOLTS THE CAR FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON INCLINES, DECLINES AND FLAT ROADS WHILE IN CITY STREET CONDITIONS. IT HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER DUE TO RESEARCH HAS REVEALED FORD HAS NO REAL FIX FOR THE ISSUE AND WILL ONLY RE-FLASH THE TRANSMISSION PROGRAMING IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. I STARTED ENCOUNTERING THIS PROBLEM AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES AND I AM THE FIRST OWNER.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,425.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that a clutch replacement was needed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer who replaced the clutch but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed her a clutch replacement was needed and the repairs were not covered. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed her that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who informed her that the failure was due to the clutch. The contact called the manufacturer who informed her that the repairs were not covered and referred her to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

WITH JUST OVER 5K MILES, OUR 2016 FOCUS HAS DEVELOPED A WIPER PROBLEM. THE DRIVER'S SIDE, TO BE EXACT. THE WIPER ARM WILL GO PAST IT'S NORMAL STOPPING POINT, & THEN LOCK UP. BUT SOMETIMES, IT WILL STOP MID WAY, WHILE THE RIGHT SIDE WIPER CONTINUES TO WORK. HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES ALREADY. THEY'VE MADE ADJUSTMENT, & REPAIRS, BUT IT CONTINUES TO MESS UP. EACH WIPER HAS AN INDEPENDENT MOTOR. BEGINNING TO THINK WE'VE BOUGHT A LEMON. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL.
DRIVERS SEAT WILL SLIDE SIDE TO SIDE DURING TURNS. ONLY SLIDES ABOUT .5" BUT SLIDES NONE THE LESS. SLIDES LEFT TO RIDE. AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALER FINALLY GETTING A NEW SEAT FRAME INSTALLED. THEY WERE VERY HESITANT, BUT THEN FOUND OUT ITS ON BACK-ORDER. BUT THIS COULD LEAD TO INJURY DURING AN ACCIDENT. AS IT MAY HAVE YOU OFF CENTER OF THE AIRBAG IF DEPLOYED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH FOUND, OUT THIS PROBLEM ISNT FIXED WITH NEW SEAT TRACK IT WILL REAPPEAR AFTER SEVERAL MORE THOUSAND MILES OF DRIVING. STARTED TO NOTICE AROUND 7000 MILES, AND HAS GOTTON PROGRESSIVELY WORSE.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED 9-23-18 ON THIS ATE, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRUNK LID OPENED BY ITSELF. THE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD SAID "TRUNK LID OPEN." THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON THIS DAY. NOTHING WAS TOUCHED BY US IN ANY WAY. EVERY TIME IT RAINS, I KEEP ON GETTING WATER INSIDE THE HEADLIGHTS NOW THE RIGHT SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS ARE OUT, THE LEFT SIDE IS GOING OUT.THE DAYTIME RUNNING WENT OUT OCTOBER 12, 2018 THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED GETTING WATER INSIDE ABOUT 02-01-18. I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR FOR A FUEL PUMP MODULE THEY THAT IS UNDER WARRANTY FORD SAID THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT COVERED. THERE ARE NO CRACKS IN THE HEADLIGHTS THE SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT THE SEALS MUST BE BAD TO ME THAT SOUNDS LIKE THEIR IS A DEFECT IN THE SEALS, THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD CONSIDER MY CAR IS ONLY A 2016 2 YEARS OLD THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING.

THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS NINE MILES OVER THE WARRANTY COVERAGE MILEAGE LIMIT. THE DEALER SUGGESTED A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE, WHICH ONLY LASTED ONE WEEK. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE WITH ANOTHER ONE, WHICH LASTED SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE FAILING AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY STRANDED IN ANOTHER STATE. MY CAR IS NOT YET THREE YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED TWICE. ON JULY 2, 2019, I WAS TOLD I NEEDED ANOTHER CLUTCH, WAITED ALL DAY FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND A PART, ONLY TO BE TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT I DIDN'T NEED A NEW CLUTCH. HOWEVER, MY CAR IS STILL MAKING THE RATTLING NOISE THAT HAS LED TO MY CLUTCH BEING REPLACED THE OTHER TWO TIMES. ON MY SECOND REPLACEMENT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018, I WAS ENCOURAGED TO "UNLOAD" MY CAR AS SOON AS I COULD AS MY CLUTCH COULD NOT PERMANENTLY BE FIXED, AND THAT THEY COULD REPLACE IT, BUT THAT I WOULD BE BACK AGAIN IN 6 MONTHS. WHEN, IN JULY OF THIS YEAR, I WENT FROM NEEDING A NEW CLUTCH, TO SUDDENLY NOT, I ENDED UP WITH MY CAR BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP ON JULY 16, 2016 TO HAVE THEM TEST THE CLUTCH AGAIN. I ASKED THE SERVICE REP IF IT WAS TRUE THAT MY CLUTCH COULD NOT BE PERMANENTLY FIXED AND HE SAID THAT YES, UNFORTUNATELY THAT WAS TRUE. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THE DUAL CLUTCH AND SAID THAT IT WAS AN EXPERIMENT THAT WORKED IN THE FACTORY, BUT FAILED IN THE REAL WORLD. POSSIBLY, MOST CONCERNING TO ME, IS THAT THE CAR HAS TWICE, IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, LURCHED FORWARD WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS BACKING INTO MY GARAGE, AND MY CAR LURCHED FORWARD WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE. I BARELY MISSED HITTING MY NEIGHBORS FENCE. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS ON MY PARKING SLAB. WHEN I WENT TO BACK UP, IT LURCHED FORWARD WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE. SINCE, ON MY MOST RECENT VISIT, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS ACTION IN MY CAR THEY FIXED NOTHING. THEY ALSO, ONCE AGAIN DID NOT REPLACE THE CLUTCH, AND MY CAR IS STILL RATTLING. I'VE ALSO HAD THE TWO OTHER WARRANTY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE BLOCK HEATER REPLACED, AND I HAD A LOSE BALL JOINT THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE RATTLING AND SHUDDERING THAT I'VE EXPERIENCED ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING.
THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 2PM ON FRIDAY 1/12. WE CALLED TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALAHIPS TO GET THE CAR SERVICED. BOTH MADE AN APPT FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK BUT NEITHER TOLD US NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR. LATER THAT DAY IF HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK TO STOP THE CAR SO ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS HIT AND SUP SEQUENTALY TOTALED MY VEHICLE.
THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ALLOW FOR SPEED THAT IS NEEDED ON AN INTERSTATE. IT'S SLUGGISH, SLOW, DOESN'T RESPOND WHEN GIVEN GAS.
I WAS DRIVING IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC, DUE TO A BROKEN STOP LIGHT, FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES..WHEN THE DISPLAY INDICATOR BEGAN ALARMING, AND SAID "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING, STOP SAFELY" THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS WARNING INDICATOR TO TURN ON, AND THERE WAS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO STOP RIGHT WHERE I WAS. I HAVE ALSO SMELLED BURNING COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND NOTICE THAT AT TIMES MY CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR IT SEEMS TO SHUDDER AND STAMMER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE GEAR SHIFT ALSO WILL NOT GO INTO DRIVE AND INSTEAD GOES INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FOCUS THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH IT. IN THE LAST MONTH THIS WILL BE THE 3RD TIME MY CAR HAS GONE TO FORD TO BE FIXED. MY CAR WILL RANDOMLY NOT START AND A FEW HOURS LATER TURN ON. IT WILL ALSO THROW FALSE CODES. AFTER THE FIRST VISIT TO FORD THEY REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACED THE BATTERY AND TOLD ME IT WOULD NO LONGER BE AN ISSUE. YET, ONLY THREE WEEKS LATER I AM BACK TO FORD BECAUSE MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND DIED WHILE I WAS BACKING DOWN A HILL. I HAD TO HAVE FORD COME TOW IT WHEN I BROUGHT IT INTO THEM THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AND SENT ME HOME WITH IT. AND NOW NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER IT IS ALREADY DYING AGAIN AND MY TRANSMISSION STILL NEEDS TO BE REBUILT. MY RPMS RANDOMLY FLY UP AND THE CAR SHAKES AND FEELS LIKE ITS GETTING NO POWER TO IT. YET NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SO THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING. AND THE ELECTRICAL IN IT KEEPS GOING OUT AND MY BACK UP CAMERA ONLY WORKS 5% OF THE TIME. CLUTCH STICKS TO FLOOR AND WILL NOT COME BACK UP. I EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING ALL NIGHT ON A VERY COLD WINTER NIGHT IN UPSTATE NY. I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND PULL OUT OF MY APARTMENT, BUT THEN THE CAR STALLED. I PUSHED THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO THE GROUND AND TRIED TO TAKE IT OUT OF GEAR. I COULDN'T MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER. I LIFTED MY FOOT UP AND THE CLUTCH WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. I PULLED THE CLUTCH PEDAL BACK UP FORCEFULLY BY HAND SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRYING TO GET THE CLUTCH TO WORK. EACH TIME IT STUCK TO THE FLOOR. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON A FLATBED. THEY HAD IT FOR A WEEK AND COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. I SUSPECT IT'S BECAUSE THE WEATHER HAD CONSIDERABLY WARMED UP WHILE IT WAS WITH THEM. SINCE THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE THE ISSUE THEY DECIDED NOT TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I'M SCARED THE CLUTCH WILL BECOME INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING AND PREVENT ME FROM BEING ABLE TO SHIFT DURING A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
