I BOUGHT A USED 2016 FORD FOCUS 4DR SE AT AUTOCITY EL CAJON ON MAY 21, 2018 WITH ODO: 45,141 AND WAS UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY UPON PURCHASE FOR THE PRICE OF $15,164.23. OCTOBER 29, 2018- I RECEIVED A MASS EMAIL REMINDER FROM AUTO CITY TO CHECK IF THERE ARE ANY KNOWN RECALLS UNDER MY CAR. DECEMBER 2018- I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD VIA SNAIL MAIL AND CALLED A FORD DEALER TO SUBMIT A TICKET. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THE RECALL AND WILL BE NOTIFIED ONCE AVAILABLE. NO RESPONSE BACK REGARDING THE ISSUE TILL THIS DAY. SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 18S32/ NHTSA RECALL 18V-735 *I WAS ADVISED AND COMPLIED WITH ALWAYS LEAVING MY FUEL LEVEL TO 1/2 TANK OF GAS UNTIL THE RECALL GETS RESOLVED. AUGUST 2019- RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE VIA SNAIL MAIL. SAME ISSUE. SAME PROCEDURES: CALLED FORD DEALER, LEFT A TICKET/REQUEST, NO RESOLUTION. AUGUST 10, 2019-WENT TO GET OIL CHANGE AND ALIGNMENT. STARTED TO NOTICE JERKING WHILE DRIVING, ACCELERATION ISSUE, CAR START TROUBLES AND ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON/OFF. DECEMBER 2019-GOT AN INITIAL CHECK FROM NORTH PARK AUTO REPAIR DUE TO ENGINE LIGHT ON. DTC DESCRIPTION: P219A- AIR/FUEL RATIO IMBALANCE -I WAS REFERRED TO AUTOCITY TO GET IT FIX UNDER WARRANTY DECEMBER 9, 2019- I REACHED OUT TO AUTOCITY VIA EMAIL AND TELLING THEM MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN USING MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS. DECEMBER 19, 2019- I GOT AN APPOINTMENT WITH AUTOCITY AND GOT A RESOLUTION UNDER THEIR WARRANTY: PORTFOLIO SERVICE WARRANTY WHICH LEFT ME TO PAY $100 COPAY. RECEIPT SHOWS THE FAULT CODE: P1294 THE ENGINE LIGHT ISSUE WAS FIXED , HOWEVER, I AM STILL EXPERIENCING JERKING, ACCELERATION LAG AND TROUBLE STARTING WHILE USING THE CAR TILL THIS DAY.
ON 10/27/2018 APPROXIMATELY 1330 AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO 29 IN WARRENTON HEADED TOWARDS CULPEPER GOING ABOUT 45MPH THE CAR SPUTTERED AND STALLED. TOOK 3 TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THEN DID IT AGAIN AFTER MAKING A LEFT ONTO 17 IN BEALETON. THE VEHICLE WOULD GET UP TO ABOUT 20 MPH AND JUST STALL IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS BECOMING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY HAVING MY 12 YEAR OLD IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK EVERY TIME WHEN IT RAINS HARD OR WHEN I HAVE THE CAR WASHED WATER IS GETTING INTO THE WIRING UNDERNEATH THE TAILLIGHTS SHORTING OUT THE WIRING I SMELLING BURNT WIRING THE LEFT TAILLIGHT IS OUT, THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON, THE RIGHT REAR RED TURN SIGNAL IS OUT,THE LEFT FRONT SIDE RUNNING LIGHT IS OUT, THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE TURN SIGNAL IS OUT. THIS CAR IS A 100% LEMON!
VEHICLE FUEL GAUGE IS OFF BY 50 MILES + - 10 MILES. VEHICLE STALLS AFTER FILLING FUEL TAKE TO FULL LEVEL. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT STAYS ON SOLID AFTER THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS. TRANSMISSION IS LOUD AND GRINDS WHEN MAKING TURNS AND HAS A JERKING MOTION WHEN INCREASING AND DECREASING SPEED.
DRIVING TO WORK ALL INSTRUMENT LIGHTS CAME ON, RPM AND SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 0, MILAGE TURNED TO -----, FOLLOWED BY MESSAGE STEERING ASSIST FAILURE, FOLLOWED BY TRANSMISSION FAILURE SERVICE NOW MESSAGE, I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNED OFF THE ENGINE TO SEE IF MESSAGES WOULD CLEAR. WOULD NOT RESTART, NOT IN PARK MESSAGE CAME ON. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO TRY TO RESET THE CAR, CAR STARTED AND ALLOWED ME TO SHIFT INTO PARK, BUT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY A SECOND TIME. STARTED THE CAR PUT IT INTO DRIVE THE CAR MOVED ALL INSTRUMENT LIGHTS EXCEPT THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER FOUND THE FOLLOWING CODES U1013:00:68 & U0101:00:68 REPLACED THE TCM ALL CODES WERE CLEARED. THEY ROAD TESTED IT TO VERIFY IT WAS FINE. A WEEK LATER THIS ALL HAPPENED AGAIN, EXCEPT I WAS STOPPED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, IT WOULD NOT START A NEW MESSAGE IGNITION FAILURE CAME ON. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT HAS BEEN FOR 2 DAYS. NO UPDATE AS TO WHAT IS WRONG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWN FORD (256 SWAIN STREET, SKIBO RD, FAYETTEVILLE, NC 28303, 910-920-9614) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND IT WAS UP TO THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.

THE DEALER ALSO CALIBRATED THE CPU ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,476. *BF*JB
WAS DRIVING HOME LOST POWER STEERING.. PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY THANK GOD ...STEERING WHEEL GOT SEIZED..CALLED FORD THEY WOULD NOT HELP ONLY TO SAY THERE WAS NO RECALL ..MY CAR IS A 2016 FORD FOCUS S ..THE CAR IS ALMOST 2 YEARS OLD SHOULD NOT IF HAPPENED
APPROXIMATELY AT 30000 MILES WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO SHEEHY OF WARRENTON BECAUSE WHILE ON RTE 28 IN STERLING VA THE VEHICLE WAS INTERMITTENTLY JERKING SPUTTERING AND STALLING. DEALER STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY ISSUES BECAUSE NO CODE WAS PRESENT. ON 10/18/18 I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AGAIN BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE IN MOTION. THEY STATED THAT CODE SAYS LOW FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THAT FIRST TO SEE. I NOTICED TODAY THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THE EXACT ISSUE I'M HAVING BUT RECALLS ARE ONLY ON THE 2.0 MODEL MINE IS THE 1.0.
FORD FOCUS 2016 IS TRANSMISSION IS STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS AS PREVIOUS FORDS MODELS IN CATEGORY, INCLUDING ENGINE SLIPS, SHUDDERING , STALLING AND NOT CHANGING GEARS PROPERLY, CREATE HAZARDS, IM CONSTANTLY BATTLING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, AND IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE MORE THAN 20,000 MILES ON IT, I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A NUMEROUS AMOUNT OF RECKS ON THE HIGHWAY, OR EVEN LEAVING MY HOUSE BECAUSE OF THIS CAR, I CONSTANTLY FEAR FOR MY SAFETY WITHIN THIS VEHICLE, AND I KNOW ITS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS, IM STUCK IN THIS VEHICLE AND NOBODY HAS THE ANSWERS. TODAY FOR EXAMPLE I WAS LEAVING MY HOUSE I STOPED AT A STOP SIGN TO TAKE A LEFT IT WAS MORNING TRAFFIC, I TAKE A TURN IN AN APPROPRIATE MANNER, BUT THE RPMS JUMP TO 4 ALMOST 5, AND THE CAR STARTS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND IT STALLS BRIEFLY IN THE MIDDLE OF BOTH LANES AND MAKES A SHUDDERING NOISE AS I ACCELERATE MORE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY, IT SHAKES MORE AND JUMPS FORWARD IN A JERKING MOTION, I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A CAR!! THIS CAR HAS A CLEAN RECORD, NO RECKS OR ANYTHING AND PROPERLY TAKEN CARE OF!
ON OCTOBER 11, 2018 THE SAME DAY AS HURRICANE MICHEL, MY 2016 FORD FOCUS ST WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT WHERE THE VEHICLE CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION AND LOST COMPLETE CONTROL BY ITSELF, CAUSING THE CAR TO FLIP ON ITS SIDE AND BE COMPLETELY TOTALED. THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH WAS UNKNOWN AT THE TIME, BUT ON OCTOBER 25, 2018 FORD PUTS OUT A RECALL FOR THE EXACT MODEL FORD FOCUS BECAUSE OF AN ISSUE CAUSING THE CAR TO RANDOMLY STALL. THEY ARE TELLING OWNERS TO KEEP THEIR FUEL TANK ABOVE HALF FULL TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM AND I KNOW AT THE TIME MY FUEL TANK WAS NOT ABOVE HALF AND THE INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ON. I BELIEVE THE CAUSE OF THIS CRASH WAS FROM THE RECALL THAT FORD PUT OUT ONLY A FEW DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT TOTALING MY 2016 FORD FOCUS ST.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND SLAMMED WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VACHON FORD (455 PROVIDENCE RD, BROOKLYN, CT 06234, (860) 774-3673) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 24492522. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
ITS 27000 MILES AND ITS LEAKING OIL OUT THE FRONT AND BACK AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISION
MY 2016 FORD FOCUS & ITS "POWERSHIFT" TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING. ON THURSDAY OCT. 4, 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR SHUTTERED THEN STALLED AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. I PURCHASED THE CAR AT THE END OF JANUARY 2018, BRAND NEW AND HAVE PUT 29,537 MILES ON IT. I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE CLUTCH SYSTEM WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED THE 2012 FORD FOCUS WHICH HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE AND HAD TO HAVE THE CHIP ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TRANSMISSION REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES. WHILE THE SALES STAFF TOLD ME THIS ISSUE WAS RESOLVED AND THE NEWER TRANSMISSIONS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE ISSUE WITH THE 2012 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION WAS NEVER RESOLVED AND THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE. I CONSIDER THIS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AS MY 2012 BROKE DOWN NUMEROUS TIMES IN TRAFFIC AND ON FREEWAYS, LEAVING ME STRANDED UNTIL IT DECIDED TO "REENGAGE" AND ALLOW THE CAR TO GO IN A FORWARD MOTION. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER EACH TIME AND WAIT FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO REENGAGE SO I COULD GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. IF THE 2016 TRANSMISSION HAS THE SAME ISSUE, I AM CONCERNED THAT EVENTUALLY IT TO WILL LEAVE ME OR SOME OTHER DRIVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR WORSE STALL WHILE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.

ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION SOON WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. KEARNY PEARSON FORD (LOCATED AT 7303 CLAIREMONT MESA BLVD, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111, (858) 560-5544), WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, AND THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DIAGNOSED TO CONFIRM THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN OCTOBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

CAR OVERHEATED DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE. CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP FOUND NO COOLANT LEAKS, BUT DETERMINED COOLANT IS BEING BURNED/ABSORBED BY TURBO PORTION OF 1.0 L ECOBOOST ENGINE. MOTOR HEAD HAS CRACKED. VEHICLE IS 620 MILES OUT OF POWER TRAIN WARRANTY SO IS NOT COVERED. SAME ISSUE IS CURRENTLY IN RECALL FOR OTHER FORD TURBO ENGINE MODELS.
ENGINE MISFIRE, STEAM FROM TAILPIPE, ROUGH IDLE, NUMEROUS ENGINE REPAIRS CYLINDER 3, METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL PAN. IN MOTION HIGHWAY STALLED OUT.
I BOUGHT 2016 FORD FOCUS, TOTAL 55,000 MILES ON IT NOW 2018 AND NOTHING BUT TROUBLE IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS AND THERE AFTER , ALWAYS IN THE GARAGE FOR DRIVE TRAIN 2 YEARS NOW, STRAPS ON ROOF FELL OFF TWICE , TRUNK OUT OF LINE,NEW TIRES BOUGHT AT 26,000 MILES . WIRE HARNESS TOTALLY SHUT DOWN CAR IN 2017 WHILE DOING 65 ON THE HIGHWAY , COULD NOT STEER THE CAR OR STOP IT , BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR CAR TOTAL SHUT DOWN AND THIS YEAR 2018 THE STEERING FROZE UP AT 55,000 MILES, COULD NOT STEER THE CAR,, CAR RUNS LIKE CRAP HAS POWER THEN NO POWER, DON'T DARE TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC UNLESS I HAVE A LONG FREE SPACE TO GET IN, CAUSE IT HESITATES, BACK UP CAMERA WONT SHUT OFF TILL I HAVE GONE 100 FEET FORWARD , 2018 PHONE SYSTEM KEEPS FAILING, NEW BRAKES, TWICE I ALMOST GOT KILLED, CAUSE I COULD NOT STOP OR STEER THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY I AM SO DONE WITH FORD AND THIS CAR.. PERFORMANCE IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A CAR,, I COULD GO TO THE GARAGE EVERY WEEK CAUSE THE PERFORMANCE IS SO BAD, DONE DONE DONE, IF I HAD GOTTEN KILLED IN THIS CAR THE TWO WORST TIMES IT FAILED, MY FAMILY WOULD HAVE SUED FORD AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK, WOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT LESS HEAD ACHES THAN A DEATH LAW SUIT

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE IF THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR WAS BLINKING. UNKNOWN. I believe this vehicle's engine is also impacted by the recall campaign number 18V735000, even though the engine is a 2.0L L4. The same issues that are mentioned in the recall campaign occurred with this vehicle around the 60k milage and 120k milage mark. These issues seems to happen every 60k miles. I did report this same issue with this system with this vehicle when this happened when the milage hit around 60k. The engine check light did show up each time this happened and the vehicle would stall immediately, even while driving at interstate speeds of around 70mph.

IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE THE TEETH IN THE TRANSMISSION GEARS ARE NOT ENGAGING SMOOTHLY, THUS RESULTING IN THE NOISE REFERRED TO. THE NOISE AND SHUDDER DOES NOT OCCUR IN EVERY INSTANCE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, BUT IT DOES IT OFTEN. I TOOK THE FOCUS IN TO A DEALER IN MY AREA IN NOVEMBER 2017 AND THE DETERMINATION WAS THAT THERE WERE NO SOFTWARE UPDATES AVAILABLE AND THAT "NO CONCERN WAS FOUND AT THIS TIME." I DISAGREED WITH THAT FINDING, BUT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING, AND I TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER IN JANUARY 2018 TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AGAIN, BUT THEY TOLD ME THEIR TRANSMISSION GUY WAS OUT FOR TWO WEEKS. SECOND ISSUE - MY CAR WILL STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING/ACCELERATING AT ANY GIVEN TIME. MUCH WORSE WHEN I HAVE LESS THAN A HALF/QUARTER TANK. MY CAR WILL STILL STALL EVEN WHEN I DO HAVE MORE THAN A HALF TANK OF GAS. MOST TIMES, MY CAR WILL NOT RESTART AFTER THE STALL. THIS ISSUE IS MORE LIKELY TO HAPPEN AS SOON AS I TURN THE CAR ON, AT A DEAD STOP THEN ABOUT TO ACCELERATE, IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. MESSAGES LEFT WITH CASEWORKER AND OTHER COMPLAINT DEPARTMENTS IN FORD CORPORATION WITH NO RESPONSE. TRANSMISSION WORSE. CAR WILL NOT ALWAYS ACCELERATE WHEN PEDAL PUSHED DOWN.
