2005 FORD FREESTYLE HAS A CONSTANT SCRAPING SOUND FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHEN I AM DRIVING IT. WE PAID $ 200.00 FOR FORD MECHANIC TO CHANGE OUT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WITH NEW FLUID KIT & HE DID FIND METAL & BRASS SHAVINGS FROM TRANNY IN OIL PAN. MECHANIC SAYS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH NEW ONE BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $4,000.00 IT WILL TAKE TO DO IT. I FOUND OUT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS ALL SOONER OR LATER ,BUT MOSTLY SOONER ; FAIL BECAUSE THEY ARE NOTORIOUS FOR IT . BAD DESIGN FOR THAT TRANSMISSION & THEY STILL ROBBING THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES AS I SPEAK ! MAN UP & PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKES LIKE THOSE IN SOCIETY MUST WHEN THEY HAVE ROBBED OTHERS AND GOT CAUGHT. I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHY IT'S LET GO THUS FAR & WHO THEN IS ACCOUNTABLE ??
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE REAR DRIVER'S DOOR, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH PROPERLY TO CLOSE. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, THE DOOR WAS ABLE TO CLOSE COMPLETELY. THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240,000.

MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT SHUT IN COLD WEATHER. THE LOCKS STICK ON, AND THE DOOR BOUNCES BACK OPEN WHEN I TRY TO SHUT THE DOOR. I PAID TO HAVE THE DOOR LOCKS REPLACED, A FEW YEARS AGO. THE ISSUE STILL HAPPENED ON ALMOST EVERY COLD DAY. AROUND 15F TO 32F. THE FORD DEALER WHO REPLACEMENT THE LOCKS, GOT NEW LOCKS COVERED UNDER THE LOCK WARRANTY, BUT THIS ISSUE STILL HAPPENS. IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR 4 YEARS. I AM FORCED TO DRIVE WITH A DRIVER SIDE DOOR THAT DOES NOT CLOSE. I HAVE TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WITH MY HAND UNTIL THE DOOR LOCKS DECIDE TO UNSTICK AND I CAN CLOSE THE DOOR. THE FORD DEALER CANNOT GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED OR FIXED EVEN AFTER 4 YEARS AND MANY MANY MANY TRIPS BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THIS ISSUE.
DURING SAFETY INSPECTION, FRONT ENGINE SUBFRAME RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR WHERE STEERING GEAR IS ATTACHED. DICK MASHETER FORD IN COLUMBUS OHIO PROVIDED DIAGNOSIS WHEN PERFORMING OTHER REPAIRS. REPLACEMENT FRAME IS UNAVAILABLE FROM FORD DIRECTLY; THE ONLY ALTERNATIVES ARE GETTING A USED SUBFRAME OR HAVING A NEW PIECE OF STEEL WELDED IN. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD ACCELERATE FORWARD AND CAUSE A CRASH. A CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO IN MY FORD FREESTYLE 2005, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GLITCHED AND STOPPED WORKING MID DRIVE. ALL THE ODOMETERS, FUEL AND LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD TURNED OFF AND WONT COME BACK ON. NO WAY TO TELL WHAT SPEED YOU ARE GOING ON. THIS SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN A REPORTED PROBLEM TO FORD BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. VERY UNSAFE. WILL BE TAKING IT IN TO DEALERSHIP TO ASSES IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING 25 AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 55, THE LIGHTS IN CLUSTER OF GUAGES WENT OUT. THE WRENCH ICON LIGHTS UP AND ALL POWER GOES OUT TO THE GUAGES. ALL NEEDLES DROP. CHECKED THE FUZES. NOTHING BLOWN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE A.C. ALSO STOPS BLOWING COLD AIR.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHRISTIAN BROTHERS FORD INC (1975 HIGHWAY 2, EAST CROOKSTON, MN 56716; 218-281-1338) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWO SEPARATE TIMES WITHIN ONE MONTH, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WHEN PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOT ONTO HIGHWAY, LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND CHECK ENGINE AND CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHTS CAME ON, WAS LUCKY THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME WERE PAYING ATTENTION AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD. TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED, WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK IN D AND R, WITH STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THE THROTTLE. AFTER HAVING TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED HOME SO MY FAMILY AND I WERE OFF OF THE BUSY HIGHWAY, I TRIED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO TRY AND RESET THE SYSTEM, STILL NO LUCK. WE JUST HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED LAST YEAR AT A COST OF 700.00, SIMILAR TO SAME ISSUES WITH THROTTLE BUT NOTHING WITH TRANSMISSION AT THAT TIME. AFTER READING THROUGH MULTIPLE REVIEWS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS CVT TRANSMISSION AND THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDING TO BE CLEANED. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM OF WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED, THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT ONLY FAMILY VEHICLES BUT DEATH TRAPS! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOME FAMILY GETS KILLED FROM A FAULTY MISTAKE THAT FORD CO. IS WELL AWARE OF!

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING 80MPH (POSTED 80 SPEED LIMIT) THE CAR STARTED TO GLIDE LEFT AND RIGHT WITH LITTLE TURNING OF THE WHEEL. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHILE GOING 15-25MPH. THE FEELING IS A COASTING FEELING, LIKE YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF CORRECTING IT WITH THE STEERING. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ALREADY OF THE SAME FORD OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE.
CAR WILL STALL OUT WHILE IDLING, ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING (APPARENTLY FAIL SAFE MODE). MAY OR MAY NOT START AGAIN AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING. ALTERNATIVELY, ENGINE WILL ROAR WHEN APPLYING GAS PEDAL, WITH NO ACCELERATION; OR WILL JOLT/SHUDDER WHILE MOVING FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. NEW FUEL PUMP ALREADY INSTALLED. ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ALREADY GONE OVER AT DEALER. TWICE NEW INERTIA SHUTOFF VALVES INSTALLED. ($800) IF THIS IS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY, I WANT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE CLASS ACTION.

DOOR LATCHES FREEZING EVERY WINTER AND DOORS WILL NOT LATCH AND STAY SHUT. ALSO WENT TO FORD WEBSITE AND REALIZED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR FSA TITLE: ENGINE IDLE RPM SURGE EXTENDED WARRANTY FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER: 12N03. I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS RECALL AND MY CAR DOES THIS QUITE FREQUENTLY AND I AM AFRAID THE TENS YEARS IS UP FOR THIS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. WHEN PULL UP TO A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL REV REALLY HIGH AND LURCH FORWARD CAUSING ME TO STOMP ON BRAKE PEDAL REALLY HARD.
AWD MALFUNCTION IS PRESENT AND IT INTERFERES WITH THE STABILITY CONTROL AND ABS. IT SOMETIMES CAUSES ABS NOT TO GET ENGAGED.
WHILE VEICHLE IS STATIONARY, THE ENGINE REVS BETWEEN 500-1000 RPM. TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO HAVE STOPPED SHIFTING AND MADE THE RPM GO ALL OVER THE PLACE. WHILE TURNING AT A SLOW SPEED IT SEEMED TO MAKE THE ISSUE WORSE. WAS TOLD IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION.

CLUSTER REPAIRED AND SMART JUNCTION BOX. CAR IS STILL NOT FIXED. HAS BEEN A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE . THEY SAID HAD TSB OUT FOR IT AND IT WOULD HAVE FIXED. DIDNT. PLEASE HELP. AM A MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER WHO NEEDS RELIABLE CAR AND CANNOT HAVE THIS TO KEEP HAPPENING . EVERYTIME I GET BACK FROM MECHANIC IT WILL WORK FOR 3 DAYS. THEN DIES AGAIN. LAST TIME IT BROKE WHICH WAS YESTERDAY IT WORKRD FOR OVER 2 WEEKS.
TRANSMISSION ISSUES. STARTED MAKING AWFUL NOISES AND LOW ACCELERATION. WENT TO MECHANIC AND TOLD THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THIRD ROW SEAT MOUNTING BRACKET WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 12V006000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 13V081000 (SEATS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000.
WHILE DRIVING CAR AT NIGHT LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD AND INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT OUT, ABS LIGHT CAME ON, HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT BUT BACKUP LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE CAR WAS IN DRIVE. TURN SIGNALS DID NOT WORK AND RADIO WENT OUT. CAR EVENTUALLY LOST ALL POWER.

CVT FAIL, THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, STARTED IN SEPTEMBER 2016. CAR NOW HAS 135,030 MILES. HAPPENS CONTINUOUSLY, WHEN IDLE AND MOVING DOWN THE ROAD. I SENT A LETTER TO FORD AND THEY RESPONDED WITH A "SORRY...WE CAN'T HELP YOU". MAKING HELICOPTER NOISE. LOSES POWER AND GOES INTO FAILSAFE MODE. I WILL ATTACH BOTH LETTERS. *TR
MY FORD FREESTYLE HAS BEGUN TO SURGE IN ACCELERATION WHEN AFTER I AM STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THEN I LET IT OFF FIRST TO GO, IT SURGES AHEAD OR BACKWARD, DEPENDING ON FORWARD OR REVERSE WITH NO PRESSURE AT ALL ON THE ACCELERATOR. REPEAT, I DO NOT PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND IT SUDDENLY SURGES FORWARD OR BACKWARD WITH NO WARNING, THOUGH I CAN HEAR THE ENGINE AND AS WELL AS FEEL IT ONCE IT SURGES. THIS IS INTERMITTENT, AND SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN THE AC IS ON. THE MILEAGE IS 123,000, AND IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES NOW, BUT IT IS INTERMITTENT. WE WERE ONCE IN MANY SITUATIONS: STOPPED IDLING AT A LIGHT WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO, STOPPED IN A DRIVE THRU LANE WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO, STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT BRIEFLY WAITING FOR PEDESTRIANS, SO BASICALLY STOPPED FOR AT LEAST A FEW MOMENTS---AND ONCE WHILE REVERSING FROM A PARKING SPACE. CAR IS LUNGING FORWARD AND BACKWARDS
IF WE CHANGE GEARS WITH THE A/C ON THE CAR LUNGES WHEN WE'RE TRYING TO COME TO A STOP. IT LUNGES AS WE'RE PARKING OR PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. AFTER STOPPING IT WILL CONTINUE TO LUNGE WITHOUT WARNING IF IT IS IN DRIVE...IT WILL EVEN LUNGE AS WE TRY TO SHIFT TO PARK. WE ARE AFRAID WE WILL HIT SOMEONE WALKING IN A CROSS WALK OR HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US WHILE PARKING. DURING LUNGING YOU CAN HEAR THE ENGINE REV LOUDER. I JUST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AND STARTED NOTICING SOME ISSUES WITH THE CAR RACING/IDLING FAST. SEVERAL TIMES IT WOULD LUNG FORWARD WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE FOOT WAS ON BRAKE ALMOST HITTING A CAR, THEN STALLED & REDUCED SPEED AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TOO OREILLYS AND FOUND IT IS THE THROTTLE AND THROTTLE SENSOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND DANGEROUS. I WANT IT FIXED BY FORD ASAP!

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,241.
CAR SURGED WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE THEN WENT INTO LIMP MODE. TOOK TO THE SHOP AND IT NEEDED THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. I SEE THAT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN BUT IT EXPIRED 1 YR AGO. WHY DID FORD NOT NOTIFY OWNERS OF THIS AND WHY DOES A KNOWN PROBLEM HAVE AN EXPIRATION?
WHEN I TURN ON THE AC IN MY VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTS TO LUNGE ALL OF A SUDDEN AND I CAN BE AT A COMPLETE STOP AND IT DOES IT. ALSO WHEN I HAVE MY AC ON MY TRUCK JUST TURNS OFF AND IT IS SCARY BECAUSE THERE IS NO WARNING IT JUST TURNS OFF. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND THIS IS VERY SCARY TO GO THROUGH. RUN SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC ON STEERING WHEEL AND EVERYTHING COMES BACK OKAY. PURCHASED CAR FOR A FAMILY CAR AND UPSET THAT THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.
WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY ON THE BRAKE IT WILL TRY TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHILE NOT EVEN ON THE GAS PEDAL IN REVERSE AND DRIVE.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN A 4 LANE HIGH WAY THE CAR LOST GAS PEDAL CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. WITH OTHER VEHICLE SPEEDS UP TO 65 MPH BEHIND MY CAR... HAVE HAD SEVERAL GARAGES LOOK AT IT AND STILL CANT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. NOW A TOW BILL LABOR AND OTHER COMPOUNDING EXSPENCES.
MY ENGINE LITE CAME ON I TOOK IT TO O'REILY TO HAVE IT CHECK OUT. THEY GAVE ME THECODES TO THE THROTTLE BODY. WHEN I CALL FORD DEALER THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL ANY MORE. I DID NOT RECIEVE A NOTICE THATTHIS WAS A DEFECT IN THE CAR. IT IDLES IN PARK WHEN YOU ARE AT THE STOP ;LITE AND WHEN ITGOES INT REVERSE. IF YOUR FOOTNOT ON THE BRAKE IT MOVES. I HAVE SENT A LETTER TO YOU ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO NO RESPONSE. SENT A LETTER TO FORD NO RESPONSE.
THERE IS A NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL THE NOISE IS PROMINENT. I AM FINDING OUT THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION AS I HAVE LESS THAN 80K MILES TO THE CAR. FORD HAS TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS OLD WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO. THEY DID NOT MENTION HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS. OR THE FACT THAT THEY NEW ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND HAS NOT MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE WITH IT;S CUSTOMERS WHO OPERATE THESE VEHICLES WITH THEIR FAMILIES.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, HEARD LOUD POP (CLAP SOUND). THEN DASH LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO LOCK UP. TRIED TO FLUSH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND REPLACE OS SENSOR FROM FORD AND NOW IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR.

I DROVE INTO A PARKING SPACE, SET FOR PARK. THE CAR JUST SHOT FORWARD AND HIT A WALL. THE ENGINE RIFFED LOUD, FOR A FEW SECOND. COULD NOT REDO THE BRAKES. MY VEHICLE ENTERS ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, EXPERIENCES IDLE ISSUES AND THE THROTTLE BODY IS RESPONSIBLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL PRESENT - WHEN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE YOU FIND MANY CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN PUT IN SERIOUS DANGER DUE TO THE SUDDEN ENGINE SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING INTERSTATE DRIVING. THE ENGINE FAILSAFE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, WHILE ACCELERATING, THERE IS NO WARNING OR SPECIFIC PATTERN.

WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN I SET THE CRUISE CONTROL I HAD TO PUSH THE BUTTON 15X FOR IT TO ENGAGE. AFTER IT WAS SET THE INCREASE AND DECREASE BUTTONS WOULDN'T WORK. WHEN I TRIED TO CANCEL OUT CRUISE CONTROL THE BUTTON DID NOT WORK. ONLY WAY TO STOP THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS TO TAP THE BRAKES.
POWER STEERING DOESNT WORK WELL
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY THE SPEED SUDDENLY REDUCED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE MY THAN ~40 MPH. MY DAUGHTER WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND PARK THE VEHICLE IN A NEARBY PARKING LOT. ONCE PARKED AND THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER START. ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $6,600.
