AS I WAS DRIVING MY BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY BECAME MUSHY. THE PEDAL FELT LIKE IT WOULD HIT THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP BUT ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT MULTIPLE PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT IT WAS THE ABS SENSOR THAT WAS GOING BAD. RATHER THAN SPEND $1,000 I SIMPLY REMOVED THE FUSE TO THE ABS MODULE. WHEN I DID THIS MY PEDAL PRESSURE RETURNED TO NORMAL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE REMOVING THE FUSE CLEARED THE CODES. THE MECHANIC RETURNED THE FUSE TO THE PROPER POSITION AND THE PRESSURE IS NORMAL RIGHT NOW. HOWEVER I AM AFRAID THAT THE SITUATION WILL RETURN. *TR
THE PTU ON MY CAR WENT OUT LAST MONTH. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER TO ORDER IT I WAS INFORMED BY THE PARTS DEPARTMENT TO LOOK INTO RECALLS BECAUSE THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I STARTED LOOKING AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR PTU ON THE EDGE, FLEX AND SOME FUSIONS...BUT NOT FOR MINE...I HAVE CALLED FORD AND ASKED WHY AND I WAS GIVEN NO EXPLANATION. THIS UNIT WAS MANUFACTURED BY FORD TO BE A NON-SERVICEABLE LIFETIME UNIT...OBVIOUSLY IT IS NOT. THEY HAVE ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND EVEN REPLACED SOME OF THEM...WHY IS MINE NOT COVERED WHEN IT IS THE SAME EXACT PARTS AS THE OTHERS? I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT IS BEING FILED OVER THIS ISSUE.
THE FIRST TIME MY BRAKES WENT MUSHY WAS WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND HAD TO STOP SUDDENLY THE ABS ACTIVATED THEN AFTER THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME MUSHY AND THE CAR WAS HARD TO STOP WITHOUT PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT REMAINED THAT WAY FOR A SHORT TIME. THE NEXT TIME IT OCCURRED WAS DRIVING ON A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD, WHEN I TOUCHED THE BRAKES TO GO OVER A POTHOLE AT A SLOW SPEED THE ABS KICKED IN AND THE BRAKES TURNED TO MUSH AGAIN MAKING IT HARD TO STOP AFTER THAT. BOTH TIMES I WAS ON MAIN STREETS IN THE CITY AND IT IS VERY SCARY WHEN YOUR VEHICLE DECIDES IT DOESN'T WANT TO STOP VERY EASILY. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR WORSE. *TR
HIT A POTHOLE WITH RIGHT WHEEL DURING TURN AT INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET. FELT LIKE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED BUT DID NOT RESET; HEARD LOUD CRACK. BRAKES FAILED IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS. PEDDLE WENT TO FLOOR INITIALLY; CONTINUED TO PUMP BRAKES UNTIL SOME BRAKING ABILITY RETURNED. DROVE SLOWLY AND EXPERIENCED SAME AT TWO MORE STOPS BEFORE HAVING CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC. DID NOT TRY TO DRIVE AFTER TURNING ENGINE OFF, HOWEVER MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE ANY BRAKING PROBLEMS. A THOROUGH INSPECTION SHOWED NO APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES OR SYSTEM. MECHANIC DID FIND NOTE IN COMPUTER LOG THAT ABS HAD LOST COMMUNICATION AT ONE POINT. THIS HAPPENED NOV. 4, 2016. BRAKE LOSS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE, AND I HAVEN'T HIT ANY POTHOLES SINCE. NOTED NEWS STORY DEC. 27, 2016 OF OTHER FORD FUSIONS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED USED VEHICLE IN 2016 WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAG.. AIRBAG IS HAS STILL NOT BEEN REPLACED AND DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL BE. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE USE OF PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEATING SINCE PURCHASE DATE. WAS NOTIFIED THAT REPLACEMENT WOULD LIKELY BE DURING THIRD QUARTER OF 2018 BUT THAT DID NOT HAPPEN AND NO LOANER VEHICLE CAN BE PROVIDED BY DEALER.
BRAKES LOSE PRESSURE AFTER ABS EVENT. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. FORD DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO FIX.
THE AIRBAG FOR MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR ALMOST AN ENTIRE YEAR, AND THE PARTS TO FIX IT HAVE NOT YET BEEN MADE AVAILABLE. THIS IS NOT BEING TAKEN CARE OF IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE AREA ON THE DASHBOARD AROUND THE AIRBAG HAS SIGNIFICANT WARPING, AND I HAVE BEEN ADVISED AGAINST USING THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT.
I WAS TRAVELING THROUGH COLORADO ON A PAVED BUT FAIRLY STEEP GRADE ROAD. A CAR BEHIND ME WAS TAILGATING SO I PULLED OVER TO A DIRT PATCH TO LET THEM PASS. PATCH WAS ROUGH SO THE ABS ACTIVATED. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ABS ACTIVATION AND SHUTOFF, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT. IT REQUIRED PUSHING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET ANY BRAKE STOPPING POWER. HAD I LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AT ANY POINT, OR NOT IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN WHEN I REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I COULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO A TREE. PEDAL STILL REMAINS SOFT AND REQUIRES PUSHING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. HALF WAY TO THE FLOOR IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL BRAKE NORMALLY BUT IT STILL GOES SOFT. IF I SLAM ON THE BRAKES THEY WORK NORMALLY FOR A MOMENT, BUT THEN GO SOFT AND SPONGY AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. THE LAST TIME AUTO-CORRECTED ITSELF AFTER TURNING MY CAR OFF AND ON AND PUMPING THE BRAKES HARD, BUT NOT THIS TIME. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS! AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE IT SEEMS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, AS WELL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND PUT PRESSURE ON FORD TO ISSUE A RECALL!
AFTER PURCHASING OUR FUSION, THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED VERY SOFT. WE PUT NEW BRAKES ON IT BUT THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING THE PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND SUDDEN STOPS ARE NOT AN OPTION! WE WERE TOLD BY A SERVICEMAN IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE "SENSOR OR BRAIN" OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE OF CARS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDED TO BE DEPRESSED EXCESSIVELY IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP SAFELY. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED BRAKE FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,026.
ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT, I HAD GOTTEN REAR ENDED IN OCTOBER 2016 AS I WAS TURNING INTO MY HOUSING COMPLEX AND I HIT THE BRAKES AFTER I WAS HIT AND THE PEDAL HAD GONE COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD LOST BRAKE PRESSURE AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP. I TOOK IT INTO A REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES AND NOW THEY ARE ONLY GETTING WORSE AND WITH THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE BEEN DOING IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD FUSIONS AND FORD IS NOT DOING A RECALL FOR THIS $600 PART. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PART OF A VEHICLE AND I HOPE THAT THIS WILL BE CONSIDERED AND FORD WILL ISSUE A RECALL SO CUSTOMERS AREN'T PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THEIR ENGINEERING ON THIS PART.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN A ACCIDENT INVOLVING A FRONTAL CRASH OF BOTH VEHICLES IN JOLIET AND MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. I HAVE SINCE HAD MY VEHICLE REPAIRED BY FORD RECALL OF THE AIRBAGS AND NOW I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR WHEN I ONLY TRAVEL LOCALLY WITH MY CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SLOWING TO A STOP FROM APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE REQUIRED AN ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES BREAK VERY EASILY HAVE REPLACED TWICE. WHEN BROKEN AND HAVE TO WAIT FOR REPLACEMENT THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK EVEN MANUALLY AND I FEEL UNSAFE DUE TO SOMEONE HAVING ACCESS TO CAR WHILR AT STOP,LIGHT OR WHEN PARKED IN PUBLIC AREAS

AFTER BRAKING HARDER THAN A NORMAL EASY STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT VERY LOW - TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS DIFFICULT TO BRAKE WITHOUT APPLYING A LOT OF PRESSURE. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO LOOKED OVER THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. AFTER THIS THE BRAKING WAS NORMAL. THIS OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 3, 2016. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON DECEMBER 20, 2016. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND ONCE AGAIN THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AND AGAIN THE BRAKING WAS NORMAL WHEN WE GOT THE CAR BACK. WE THEN HEARD ON THE NEWS OF AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE FORD FUSION OF OUR MODEL YEAR FOR WHAT SOUNDED EXACTLY LIKE WHAT WE EXPERIENCED, AND DECIDED TO REPORT OUR EXPERIENCE TO YOU.
I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD AND WENT OVER A POTHOLE. AFTER DOING THAT, THE BRAKES WENT SOFT AND I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE CAR TO STOP AND, EVEN THEN, I FELT THAT THE CAR BARELY STOPPED. THE CAR WAS NOT BRAKING PROPERLY AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE NEEDED TO STOP VARIED EACH TIME I PUSHED THE BRAKE AFTER THE INCIDENT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH MY BRAKES THREE TIMES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS AND IN EACH INSTANCE, I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE VARYING STOPPING DISTANCE NEEDED. IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I'VE ENCOUNTERED ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS OR HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. I'VE HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO BE SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE SPENT OVER $1,000 TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR BEFORE BRAKES START TO ENGAGE. LOCAL SHOP ISOLATED ANY ISSUES WITH THE WHEEL BRAKE ASSEMBLIES AND STATED THAT IS WAS EITHER THE MASTER CYLINDER OR THE ABS MODULE. BRAKES WILL ENGAGE SOONER IN THE PEDAL TRAVEL IF THEY ARE PUMPED ONCE. BASED ON RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY A STUCK VALVE IN THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT.
OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS WHEN THE ABS WAS ACTIVATED DURING HARD BRAKING, THE PEDAL WENT VERY LOW AND COMPROMISED BRAKING POWER. AFTER A FEW PUMPS THE PEDAL REGAINED ITS PRESSURE, BUT WHENEVER THE ABS ACTIVATED THE PEDAL WOULD GO LOW AGAIN. THIS SYMPTOM WAS EASILY REPEATABLE. IN OCT 2016, THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED LOW PERMANENTLY WHEN UNDER NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION, BUT STILL HAD BRAKING POWER. I BROUGHT IT INTO A BRAKE SHOP IN NOV 2016 TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND AFTER THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER THE CAR STILL HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE ABS PUMP AND AFTER BENCH-TESTING IT THEY DETERMINED IT HAD STUCK VALVES WHICH WAS ALLOWING AIR INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON AND POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH 06-08 FORD FUSIONS.
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD AN AIRBAG RECALL FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER (TAKATA BRAND) AIRBAG. I'VE RECEIVED MANY NOTICES FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE CAR (AUGUST, 2014). AFTER CALLING FORD MULTIPLE TIMES, I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PRODUCTS HAVE NOT ARRIVED TO REPLACE THE POSSIBLY DAMAGED PARTS. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN ONE ACCIDENT IN THE PAST THREE YEARS (ROUGHLY FALL/WINTER OF 2016). THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH IS WORRISOME BECAUSE AT THIS POINT I'M UNSURE IF IT'S BECAUSE IT WASN'T NECESSARY OR BECAUSE THEY ARE MALFUNCTIONING. PLEASE ADVISE AND LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN FURTHER EVALUATE AND SOLVE THIS ISSUE. THANKS!
WHEN BRAKING, PARTICULARLY ON UNEVEN SURFACES AND/OR WHEN CORNERING, THE ABS SYSTEM, OR SOME COMPONENT CAUSES THE CAR TO VIBRATE OR PULL THE VEHICLE LEFT, AND IT MAKES NOISE. SOMETIMES IT IS RELUCTANT TO BRAKE AT ALL. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 35 M.P.H., I CROSSED UNEVEN PAVEMENT. I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I QUICKLY PUMPED THE BRAKES AND THEY RESPONDED JUST IN TIME. ON ANOTHER OCCASION TRAFFIC SLOWED UNEXPECTEDLY DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AT A CITY STREET INTERSECTION, AGAIN 35 M.P.H. ZONE. I PRESSED THE BRAKES BUT NOTHING HAPPENED UNTIL THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR. I STOPPED JUST BEFORE STRIKING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS NOT SPEEDING AT THE TIME OF EITHER INCIDENT. AT A SERVICE ON 9/28/16, AT RUSTY ECK FORD IN WICHITA, KS, MY SERVICE ADVISOR GAVE ME THE STANDARD INFORMATION ABOUT THE SERVICE, AND INCLUDED THE FACT THAT MY BRAKE PADS WERE NEARING REPLACEMENT. THIS WAS NOT SURPRISING. I BELIEVE I MENTIONED ONE INCIDENT WITH BRAKE SHUDDERING WHILE BRAKING ON AN UNEVEN ROAD AT THAT POINT. WHAT HE TOLD ME NEXT THOUGH SHOCKED ME. HE EXPLAINED THAT, BASED ON HIS CONVERSATION WITH THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN WHO HAD DRIVEN MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 100 YDS., THAT I WOULD PROBABLY NEED TO HAVE MY BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THIS MADE NO SENSE BECAUSE THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, IS GARAGE KEPT, DEALER SERVICED, AND HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. HIS COMMENTS STARTED TO MAKE SENSE WHEN I LEARNED THAT MY MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF VEHICLE WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY YOUR AGENCY FOR THIS BRAKE PROBLEM. I AM WILLING TO AID YOUR INVESTIGATION AS BEST I CAN, BECAUSE IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A VERY REAL AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF IT FOR AT LEAST SOME TIME.
MY BREAK PEDAL NEEDS TO BE PUSHED IN ALL THE WAY TO ENGAGE.
I HAD UNLOCKED MY DOOR VIA THE AUTOMATIC LOCK SWITCH TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. I WENT TO PULL THE INDOOR DRIVER'S SIDE LATCH TO EXIT WHEN THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS BEGAN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN, SO I DISENGAGED THE LATCH. THE LATCH THEN BROKE/POPPED OUT WITHOUT ME TOUCHING IT. I CAN NO LONGER EXIT OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WITHOUT ROLLING DOWN THE AUTOMATIC WINDOWS AND OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. MY VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF WITH THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION WHEN THIS TOOK PLACE.
AFTER HAVING TO USE THE ABS TO STOP MY CAR, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT WHEN I TRIED TO STOP AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. *TR

STARTING ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO, THE BRAKES STARTED ACTING EXTREMELY WEIRD. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND PUSH IN THE BRAKES TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES LIKE A SPONGE AND WONT STOP. AT FIRST WHEN YOU PUSH IT, IT STARTS TO BRAKE, BUT THEN QUITS WORKING AND REQUIRES YOU TO PUSH IT TO THE FLOOR. THIS WILL USUALLY GO ON 1-2 WEEKS, AND THEN WILL START WORKING LIKE NORMAL. ABOUT 1-2 WEEKS EACH MONTH, THE BRAKES ACT UP AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WONT STOP. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER YOU ARE GOING 15 MPH OR 60 MPH. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME, ANY PLACE, ANY SPEED. I HAVE TAKEN THIS INTO A DEALERSHIP, WHICH THEY TOLD ME THEY THOUGHT NEW BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WOULD FIX. $400 LATER AND NOTHING FIXED. *TR
"TAKATA RECALL".....AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON...THERE IS NO AIRBAG IN PLACE
SEVERAL NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS OCCURRED WITH MY 2008 FORD FUSION, AFTER MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT "SOFT", THE CAR TOOK LONGER TO STOP IN MOST DRIVING CONDITIONS, PARTICULARLY SLIPPERY, SNOWY, ROADS. THE BRAKE WOULD REQUIRE TO BE PUSHED NEARLY ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO SUCCESSFULLY STOP. THE BRAKES WOULD REQUIRE THIS NO MATTER WHAT SPEED I WAS TRAVELING IT, PARTICULARLY VERY DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAYS. THE BRAKES BEING IN THIS CONDITION LED ME TO NOT USE THE CAR ON HIGHWAYS OR IN SLICK CONDITIONS. AS A RESULT OF THESE BRAKES, I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICED AND HAVE THE ABS PUMP & MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED, LEADING TO $1,700 REPAIR. MY LOCAL MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT FORD HAS SEEN THIS OCCUR ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IN FUSIONS, YET HAS NOT PUT A RECALL OUT. AS A DRIVER WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN, I WAS UNABLE TO USE MY FUSION FOR 3-6 MONTHS DURING ANY SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS DUE TO THE BAD BRAKES. I HAD NUMEROUS NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS OCCUR. I WOULD LIKE FOR FORD TO BE INVESTIGATED ON THIS PART AND BE REFUNDED FOR MY COST OF REPAIR IF IT IS RECALLED.
TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED MANY CALLS AND CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING THE FRONTAL PASSENGER AIRBAGS BEING DEFECTIVE. MY LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY HAVE NO REMEDY. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE FRONT AIRBAG. I WOULD LIKE THIS FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR ARE VERY SOFT DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ABS STUCK VALVE. THE SOFT AND SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL IS ALL THE TIME UNLESS THEIR PUMPED A FEW TIMES.

TOOK CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FOR IT TO STOP. DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS THE REAR BRAKES, REPLACED THEM. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. TOOK BACK A COUPLE MOS LATER, DEALERSHIP STATED FRONT BRAKES & ROTORS, FIXED. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. TOOK CAR BACK AGAIN, DEALERSHIP STATED MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED IT. TOOK BACK AGAIN, NOW THEY STATE IT'S THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IN THE ABS SYSTEM. NEED TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO STOP.
ON MANY OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT, ESPECIALLY ON ADVERSE CONDITIONS (I.E. WET STREETS OR HILLS). WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JOE COOPER FORD IN TULSA, OK AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE A HYDRAULIC BRAKE UNIT. WE HAD TO PAY $1,531.00 TO REPLACE THIS UNIT. WE HAVE NOW FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THAT THE UNIT HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE OF UNIT, WE FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL AND THAT WE SHOULD RECEIVE SOME TYPE OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPLACEMENT. WE ARE ATTACHING THE PAID INVOICE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THE INCIDENT INITIALLY OCCURRED IN AUGUST 2016 AND PERIODICALLY OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES UP UNTIL THE REPAIR. AGAIN ON MANY OCCASIONS WHEN PRESSING DOWN ON THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PADDLE WOULD GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR AS IF THERE WERE NO BRAKES AND THEN THE BRAKES WOULD EVENTUALLY WORK.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN COMING TO A RED LIGHT THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. SINCE THEN IT HAD HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE CHECKED THE BRAKES OVER AND SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WE STARTED DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN AND THE PEDAL WAS VERY SOFT AND SPONGY SO WE TOOK IT BACK AND HE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. HE SAID IT WAS THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX FOR US AND IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO DRIVE AS YOU COULD NOT TELL IF THE BRAKES WERE GOING TO WORK OR NOT, A VERY SCARY SITUATION. WE ARE CONTACTING FORD TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP US WITH THE COST AS TO ME THIS IS A PART THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. WE ALSO COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR FOR A MONTH OR SO WHILE IT WAS BEING DIAGNOSED. *TR
EARLIER TODAY I FILED A COMPLAINT REGARDING A POPPING SOUND HEARD WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE AS I DROVE OVER A SPEED BUMP IN THE PARKING LOT. AFTER I DID, THE BRAKES HAD TO BE PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AS I LOST BRAKE PRESSURE. I CAME HOME AND PARKED MY CAR, CHECKING TO SEE IF THERE WAS A LEAK OR LACK OF BRAKE FLUID. THE BRAKE FLUID TANK IS FULL AND DESPITE WAITING HOURS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AGAIN, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF A LEAK. I ASSUMED PERHAPS IT WAS A TEMPORARY ISSUE AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AGAIN WITHOUT ANY INITIAL PROBLEM. THE BRAKES WERE WORKING FINE AGAIN, HOWEVER TWENTY MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE, AND WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 50MPH ALONG ALCOA HWY, I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE FOR TRAFFIC AND MY BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN HAD TO BE PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS TIME, I PUMPED THE BRAKES IN A STATE OF PANIC, AS I WAS AFRAID I'D HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE BRAKES SEEMED FINE AGAIN. THERE WAS NO ISSUE AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE. I CONTINUED DRIVING UNTIL I COULD TURN AROUND AND RETURN HOME. AT THIS POINT, I WAS TERRIFIED I COULD BE IN A FATAL CAR ACCIDENT. UPON RETURNING HOME, I AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE FOR TRAFFIC AND DISCOVERED THAT WHILE MY BRAKES ARE WORKING, THEY SEEM TO ONLY DO SO AFTER I'VE PUMPED THEM A FEW TIMES FIRST. THEY ARE EXTREMELY INTERMITTENT IN THEIR OPERATION, LEAVING ME TO ASSUME THAT THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. AFTER EXTENSIVE ONLINE RESEARCH, I AM NOW FINDING MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS DATING BACK SEVERAL YEARS WHERE OTHERS HAVE HAD AND CONTINUE TO HAVE IDENTICAL BRAKE PROBLEMS, YET THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANYTHING DONE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THAT IS. AS A RESULT, I'LL BE FORWARDING MY CONCERNS TO CNN IMMEDIATELY TO INQUIRE AS TO WHY NOTHING HAS COME OF THIS ISSUE GIVEN THE EXTREME SERIOUSNESS OF THIS AND OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE IT.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 5MPH OVER A SPEED BUMP IN MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO MY BRAKES, I FELT A SLIGHT POP FEELING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY LOST BRAKE PRESSURE. I THEN HAD TO APPLY GREATER PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I PROCEEDED TO THE STOP SIGN AND AGAIN APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, YET THE PROBLEM HAD NOT CORRECTED ITSELF. I WAS CONCERNED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL MUST BE LOW, SO I RETURNED HOME WHERE I HAD JUST LEFT. UPON LOOKING AT THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, I NOTICE THAT THAT THE TANK IS FULL. I HAVE NO LEAKS. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND PUMPED THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES, YET THE BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUES TO GO TO THE FLOOR OF MY CAR. I AM NOW CONCERNED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE WHILE THE BRAKES STILL WORK, THE CAR TAKES FAR TOO LONG TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IF I DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED, APPROXIMATELY 17 MILES, THERE'S CONSIDERABLE REASON TO BE CONCERNED THAT I COULD FAIL TO STOP IN TIME IF I NEED TO STOP SUDDENLY.
DRIVER DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE. MUST ROLL DOWN POWER WINDOW REQUIRES IGNITION ON OR ENGINE RUNNING TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. (NO SECURITY OR THEFT PROTECTION) EGRESS FROM CAR IMPOSSIBLE FROM INSIDE DRIVER SIDE. EXIT VIA PASSENGER DOOR BLOCKED BY CENTER CONSOLE. LOSS OF IGNITION LEAVES DRIVER STRAANDED INSIDE VEHICLE.

TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND TO WARN ABOUT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL AND TO AVOID HAVING PASSENGERS SIT IN THE CAR DUE TO DANGER OF INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO FLYING PARTS OF AIRBAG IN A COLLISION. FORD STILL HAS NOT REPLACED THE AIRBAG AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT FORD HAS NOT RELEASED ANY PARTS TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. I BELIEVE IT WILL BE ONE YEAR IN JULY.
