EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE #EA18002 ISSUE. MY 2008 FORD FUSION'S ABS SYSTEM IS CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR. HORNE FREEDOM FORD IN SAFFORD ARIZONIA DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BAD MASTER CYLINDER WHEN I SPECIFICALLY DISCUSSED THE ABS HYDRALIC CONTROL WITH THEM BEFORE THE DIAGNOSIS. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED AND THEN THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER BASED ON FREEDOM FORD'S DIAGNOSIS. THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL HAD PROBLEMS AND SHOWS THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT CAPABLE OF RELIABLY TESTING AND REPAIRING THE ABS MODULE ON MY 2008 FORD FUSION. THIS IS A CRITITCAL FAILURE OF FORD AND DEALERS TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX A SAFETY DEFECT IN THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER HORNE FREEDOM FORD (2161 E U.S. HWY 70, THATCHER, AZ 85552 (928) 428-1770) AND THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER HORNE FREEDOM FORD, WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
SECOND TIME REPORTING A RECURRENT ISSUE. THIS YEAR/MODEL VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU), WHICH AFFECTS BRAKING CAPACITY, AND EITHER IS OR WAS UNDER AN OPEN INVESTIGATION. THE HCU/ABS FUNCTION OF THIS VEHICLE CAN BECOME DISABLED WHEN JARRED BY HITTING A LARGE BUMP - SUCH AS A POTHOLE - WHILE THE BRAKE IS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN MOTION. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES INSTANTLY SOFT, LOSES BRAKING POWER, AND TRAVELS A MUCH FURTHER DISTANCE TOWARDS THE FLOOR. THIS INSTANT DECREASE OF BRAKE PRESSURE DRASTICALLY INCREASES THE STOPPING TIME OF THE VEHICLE. A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE JARRING OF THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS A NEGATIVE AFFECT IF THE BRAKE IS BEING ENGAGED AT THE TIME OF JARRING. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS HAD 3 OF THESE BRAKING INCIDENCES WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. (FIRST INCIDENT PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO NHTSA IN DEC. 2017). NONE OF WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AS OF YET. THE PEDAL WILL REMAIN SOFT FOR SOME TIME. IT SEEMINGLY CAN BE "RESET" EITHER RANDOMLY, OR WITH EXCESSIVE BRAKE PUMPING OVER A SUBSTANTIAL PERIOD OF TIME. THIS SO-CALLED "RESET" COULD JUST BE A FORTUNATE FLUKE. I HAVE READ IN OTHER REPORTS OF A SIMILAR UNKNOWN "RESET" EFFECT, UNTIL THE NEXT EPISODE. LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS AND OTHER INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATIONS SEEM TO BE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE. OFTEN MISDIAGNOSING THE MASTER CYLINDER AS THE PROBLEM INITIALLY. I THOUGHT I HAD HEARD OR READ THAT A REPLACEMENT HCU PART MAY HAVE BEEN RELEASED WITH A DIFFERENT INTERNAL LUBRICANT SUBSTANCE, WHICH WOULD SUPPOSEDLY PREVENT THE HCU VALVES FROM MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO VERIFY THIS. IF I KNEW THAT BETTER QUALITY, REMEDIED REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, I WOULD HAVE THIS PART REPLACED. HOWEVER, I DO NOT WANT TO PROCEED WITH AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME RECURRENT ISSUES WITH A FAULTY PART.
PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR AND NOT STOPPING THE CAR PROPERLY

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH BRAKING ON MY CAR. BASICALLY WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE FIRST 2/3'S ARE USELESS. I CONTINUE TO HAVE TO PLACE MORE PRESSURE ONTO THE PEDAL TO GET THE BRAKES TO FUNCTION. WHEN BRAKING DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WHEN I PRESS THE PEDAL TO BRAKE, IT DOES NOTHING UNTIL I GET IT CLOSE TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE THIS ISSUE EVERYDAY, EVERYTIME I BRAKE. THIS MORNING ON 09*07*18 I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. MY CAR STARTED TO ROLL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY INTO A CITY STREET, INTO TRAFFIC. I PRESSED THE PEDAL TOTALLY TO THE FLOOR, AND BARELY CAME TO A STOP. THIS ISSUE IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE DANGEROUS EVERYDAY. THANK YOU.
I WAS ENTERING A LEFT HAND CURVE WITH THE BRAKE APPLIED. THE ROAD WAS A LITTLE ROUGH AND AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE HARDER, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I PUMPED THE BRAKES, BUT THE CAR SLID OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE DITCH STOPPING AGAINST THE BANK OF THE DITCH AND A POLE. IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS THE ABS WARNING LIGHT HAD COME ON SEVERAL TIMES, BUT HAD NOT STAYED ON THE NEXT TIME THE CAR WAS STARTED.
AFTER THE ABS ENGAGES, THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY SOFT AND HAVE DANGEROUSLY MORE PEDAL TRAVEL BEFORE BRAKING OCCURS. PUMPING THE BRAKES HELPS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS FOR DAYS BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL PEDAL TRAVEL AND BRAKING. ALSO IT DOES NOT APPEAR THE THE ABS SYSTEM CAN ENGAGE AGAIN UNTIL AFTER NORMAL PEDAL TRAVEL AND BRAKING RESUMES.

SEVERAL UNKNOWN FORD DEALERS AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DIALED 1-866-436-7332, AS STATED IN THE RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
IF AN EVENT THAT ENGAGES THE ABS HAPPENS, PEDAL FIRMNESS IS LOST AND REQUIRES 50-75% MORE TRAVEL BEFORE BRAKES WILL SLOW THE CAR. THIS PERSISTS OVER MANY STOPS AND FOR MANY MINUTES BUT ULTIMATELY PEDAL FIRMNESS DOES RECOVER. WHILE IN THE FAILED STATE THE BRAKES ENGAGE AT DIFFERING PEDAL POSITIONS MAKING STOPPING A GUESSING GAME AS TO HOW MUCH PEDAL TRAVEL AND FORCE WILL BE REQUIRED TO STOP THE CAR. OUTSIDE OF THIS EVENT PERIOD THE BRAKES PERFORM AS EXPECTED.
MY FORD DEALER SAID THEY DON'T FIX AIRBAGS

MOODY'S AUTOMOTIVE (LOCATED AT 219 W CENTRAL AVE, JAMESTOWN, TN 38556, (931) 879-4621) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE TO HAVE THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM DMV STATING: URGENT SAFETY RECALL IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED! I CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP PER THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE LETTER & WAS TOLD THEY DON'T HAVE THE NEW AIR BAGS TO INSTALL IN MY VEHICLE. THEN I CALLED THE 866-436-7332 (NUMBER PROVIDED IN RECALL LETTER) AND WAS TOLD THEY WON'T HAVE ANY AIR BAGS UNTIL HOPEFULLY BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, A CAR CUT OFF MY VEHICLE AND ABRUPTLY SLOWED DOWN. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES, WHICH ACTIVATED THE ABS SYSTEM (THE WHOLE CAR SHUTTERED AND QUICKLY SLOWED DOWN). AT MY EXIT FROM THE FREEWAY, HOWEVER, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY HAD ONLY 30 TO 40 PERCENT STOPPING POWER AND I NEARLY REAR-ENDED A DIFFERENT CAR. NOW, THE BRAKES ON THE CAR FEEL VERY "SOFT" AND IT TAKES PUSHING THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE.
PROBLEM STARTED IN FEBRUARY. ANYTIME BRAKES GOT WET OR I HIT THE SMALLEST OF BUMPS THE BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK. HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO STOP. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT RAINS OR I HIT A BUMP INCLUDING SPEED BUMPS. I CAN BE IN A PARKIN LOT GOING SLOW OR ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS
WHILE USING THE BREAKS HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THEN THE BREAK PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR THE CAR STILL STOOPED BUT NOT AS EXPECTED HAD TO SWERVE TO CAR AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CONDITION OF THE PEDAL GOING TO FAR DID NOT GO WAY FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP ABOUT 2 MILES. THE CONDITION WAS NOT RESOLVED UNTIL I TOOK THE CAR TO A GRAVEL LOT AND CAUSED THE ABS TO CYCLE NOW THE CAR IS BACK TO FULL PEDAL.
2008 FORD FUSION SE V6 76,000 MILES. WE HAVE HAD AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES OVER THE LAST YEAR. AFTER AN ABS EVENT THE BRAKE PADEL GOES RIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH MINIMAL STOPPING POWER. AFTER 3 TRIPS TO OUR MACHANIC, SYSTEM CHECKED, BRAKES FLUSHED AND BLEEDED AND $$$$ SPENT IT IS STILL HAPPENING. WE WERE HOPING IT WAS RESOLVED UNTIL THE LAST INCIDENT THE OTHER DAY ALMOST RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THANK GOD THE OTHER VEHICLE HAD BRAKES THAT WORKED PROPERLY AS I BRAKED AND WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH A RED LIGHT!! THIS IS NOT A MASTER CYLINDER PROBLEM. IT IS 100% THE ABS PUMP AND MODULE UNIT!! THE SYSTEM FAILS AND THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH! SO WE CURRENTLY HAVE A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR A PASSANGER AIR BAG AND A CAR THAT MAY OR MAY NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FORD!!! WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT AND NOW THERE IS MAJOR BRAKE PROBLEM THAT MAY CAUSE THE HAND GRENADE TO GO OFF IN A COLLISION! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY.
HAVING BRAKE ISSUES WITH MY FORD FUSION. WHEN BREAKING THE PEDAL IS SINKS TO THE FLOOR, REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER BLEED THE BRAKES AND STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH IT THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND FEELS SPONGEY. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE CAR BRAKES ARE NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPONSIVE TAKES A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. NOTE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES.
I HAVE THIS CAR THE COMPUTER IS BAD JUST ALL THE ONES I SEEN IT IS A 2008 FORD FUSION SEL IT SHUTS EVERYTHING DOWN.
THIS IS RELATED TO INVESTIGATION EA 18-002. I WAS DRIVING DURING RAINY WEATHER. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ABRUPTLY SLAMMED ON IT'S BRAKES AND I HAD TO APPLY MY BRAKES HARD AS WELL IN ORDER TO AVOID A COLLISION. DUE TO THE WET ROAD THE ABS ACTIVATED AND MY CAR STOPPED IN TIME WITHOUT A COLLISION. AFTER THE ABS ACTIVATED THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY SOFT AND WHEN TRYING TO APPLY MY BRAKES THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THEREAFTER IT TOOK MUCH LONGER FOR MY CAR TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED DUE TO THE PEDAL TRAVEL TO THE FLOOR WHICH WAS A SAFETY CONCERN IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON WET ROADS. I WAS AFRAID THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP MY CAR IN TIME SINCE IT TOOK LONGER FOR MY CAR TO SLOW DOWN. IT WAS NOT UNTIL MANY HOURS LATER AND AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL FIRMNESS RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE WITH THE ABS IN SNOWY OR RAINY WEATHER.
WHILE DRIVING, IF I HAVE TO COME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND THE ABS KICKS IN, MY BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND I HAVE NO BRAKES AT ALL. THIS ALSO HAPPENS IF I RUN ACROSS A SMALL POTHOLE, UNEVEN PAVEMENT, MANHOLE COVER, ETC. I HAVE RAN THROUGH RED LIGHTS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, INTO THE DITCH, INTO THE CENTER MEDIAN, ALL ON MANY DIFFERENT ROADS, AND DONE A COMPLETE 360 ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE RAINING ALL DUE TO THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM FAILING. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES MY CHILDREN AND I HAVE COME CLOSE TO A FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ABS BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE. I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED OF THIS WEBSITE TO REPORT THIS ISSUE. OTHERWISE, I WOULD HAVE REPORTED THIS LONG AGO, WHEN IT FIRST STARTED HAPPENING. THE LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 8/12/18 ON GENE SNYDER FREEWAY.
CAR HAS UNSOLVED TAKATA RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN I CALLED A FEW DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA AND FORD'S CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT A LOANER VEHICLE THAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD OFFER FOR FREE (FORD SAID THEY WOULD PAY UP TO $44/DAY), I CALLED AND TALKED OVER THE PHONE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS OR MORE. ALL THE DEALERS SAID WAS, "YOU ARE ABOUT 70 ON THE WAITING LIST", AND FOMOCO SAID, "ASK THE PASSENGER TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT INSTEAD."
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY, THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE APPLIED ABRUPTLY AND CAUSED AN ABS EVENT. SINCE THAT TIME, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN EXTREMELY SOFT AND NEEDS SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. ALSO, THERE IS A SLIGHT HISS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THAT CAN BE SOMETIMES HEARD. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR ISSUES, THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO FAULTY ABS MODULE AND HCU (HYRDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT). FORD DEALER STATES THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 146,000.

I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN A ROAD SWITCHES FROM 2 INTO 1 EXIT LANE & 1 LANE. THE 1 CONTINUING ROAD HAS A SMALL QUICK CURVE TO IT AND THE CARS AHEAD OF ME WERE BRAKING SO I PREEMPTIVELY EASED INTO A HARD BRAKE WHILE TAKING THAT SMALL QUICK CURVE AND (I BELIEVE) THE ABS ATTEMPTED OR SUCCEEDED IN KICKING IN, BUT AS SOON AS THAT HAPPENED THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT FROM BEING STIFF AND BRAKING QUICKLY TO SOFT AND BRAKING DRAMATICALLY SLOWER. LUCKILY I LEAVE ENOUGH ROOM EVEN IF I AM GOING QUICKLY AND I WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND SLOW DOWN IN TIME. EVEN WHEN PUSHING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AFTER THE INCIDENT IT STILL DOESN'T HAVE ANYWHERE NEAR THE BRAKING FORCE THAT IT HAD AT EVEN 1/3 OF THE PEDAL DISTANCE AS IT DID BEFORE. I UNPLUGGED THE ABS/TCS/HEATED SEATS/REAR BACKUP SENSOR FUSE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL SURGED BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR, INSERTED THE SAME FUSE BACK IN, AND THEN STARTED THE CAR AGAIN THE PEDAL STILL OPERATES AS NORMAL WORKING CONDITION. THIS IS QUITE A SCARY DEFECT AS IT IS THE BRAKES FAILING/DEGRADING BECAUSE OF AN ABS COMPUTER FLAW THAT CAUSES THE BRAKES TO FAIL ONLY UNDER THE EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES IN WHICH THEY NEED TO BE PERFORMING 100%. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FLAW THAT NO DOUBT HAS CAUSED COUNTLESS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER FLAW.

MY CAR HAS BEEN ON RECALL SINCE 2016. MY CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE DUE TO FORD AND THEY MADE ME SIGN A FORM THAT I WOULD NOT DRIVE IT OR ANYONE ELSE BUT THE CAR NEEDS AN INSPECTION. I CALLED FORD MOTOR AND NOW THEY TELL ME IT IS DRIVEABLE TO GET THIS DONE BUT I HAVE A LOANER FROM THEM AND SIGNED A FORM I COULD NOT DRIVE IT. WHENEVER THE CAR HITS ROUGH ROADS, THE BRAKES LOSE EFFECTIVENESS AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES DRASTICALLY. FORTUNATELY, THERE HASNT BEEN A COLISION CAUSED BY FAULTY SYSTEM. RECENTLY, 25 JUNE 2018, WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, THIS CAR ENTERED INTO A FISH-TAIL ENDING WITH A 180 DEGREE SPIN. THE BRAKES BECAME SPONGY TO THE FLOOR AND IT APPEARED AS IF THE WHEELS LOCKED UP AND CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN.
THIS HAVE BEEN AN ACTIVE RECALL SINCE JANUARY OF 2017. IT IS NOW JUNE OF 2018 AND THERE STILL ARE NO PARTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! A YEAR AND A HALF IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO GET NEW PARTS FOR SUCH THING!
BRAKE FAILURE. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP MY CAR AT A CITY INTERSECTION THE BRAKE PEDAL, UPON APPLICATION, TRAVELLED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT THE BRAKES ENGAGING. I IMMEDIATELY LET OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND BEGAN TO PUMP THE PEDAL, WHICH EVENTUALLY ENGAGED THE BRAKES SOFTLY. FORTUNATELY BOTH TIMES I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER CAR. FOR A LITTLE WHILE AFTER THAT THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO BE VERY SOFT, REQUIRING MUCH MORE PEDAL TRAVEL THAN NORMAL.

IT STATES THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS AUTHORIZED TO PROVIDE A RENTAL VEHICLE, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR MY SON TO DRIVE (HIS NAME IS ALSO ON THE TITLE) AND HE IS UNDERAGE AND UNABLE TO RENT A VEHICLE. RECALL NOTICE ISSUED JUNE 1, 2016 AND PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. IS NHTSA PUTTING ANY PRESSURE ON THE AUTOMAKERS TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION? SURELY IF THEY CAN DEVELOP A NEW CAR AND HAVE IT ON THE MARKET IN TWO YEARS, THEY CAN HAVE ONE COMPONENT DEVELOPED AND AVAILABLE IN TWO YEARS. THIS DELAY IN GETTING AIRBAG COMPONENTS TO THE PUBLIC IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
NO SOLUTION TO DRIVING AROUND A FAULTY AIRBAG
WHEN BRAKING MY BRAKE PEDAL IS SPONGY, AND THE VEHICLE HAS DIFFICULTY STOPPING. I HAVE DIFFICULTY STOPPING THE VEHICLE EVEN AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 25 MPH. THE RESULT IS A STOPPING DISTANCE THAT IS DOUBLED FROM ANY OTHER VEHICLE WITH ABS I'VE EVER DRIVEN. IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE, AND MAKE THE VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE, I HAVE REPLACED BRAKE CALIPERS, PADS, ROTORS, MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE FLUID FLUSH AND BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE ONLY OTHER REPAIRS THAT CAN BE MADE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IS REPLACING THE ABS CONTROL MODULE, AND ABS PRESSURE MODULATOR VALVE, ONCE THESE REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED THE TOTAL AMOUNT TO ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WILL BE IN EXCESS OF $2500.

IN THE LETTER RECEIVED FROM FORD IT STATED TO NOT LET PASSENGERS RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOR THEIR SAFETY. I NOW HAVE A SEDAN THAT CANNOT BE USED AS INTENDED AND NO ADEQUATE DATE OF A RESOLUTION.

THIS RECALL ORIGINATED IN JANUARY 2017, SO IT'S BEEN NEARLY 18 MONTHS NOW. I DON'T FEEL SAFE HAVING THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG IN MY CAR AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT REPLACING IT OR CONTACTING ME WITH AN UPDATE ABOUT WHEN IT CAN BE REPAIRED.

ALL BRAKE PRESSURE IS GONE AND TO OBTAIN IT BACK THE BRAKES HAVE TO BE 'PUMPED.' PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT BECOMES A FATALITY ISSUE. I HAVE ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
