THE STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING TO THE CAR QUIT WORKING. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A COLLISION BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR. 2011 THROUGH 2015 HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BUT MY CAR IS A 2010 WITH THE SAME PART NOT RECALLED.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
I'm writing a complaint because my passenger side airbag was recalled and I was contacted very fast and it was done quickly and this time it's been almost 6 months and I have not received any more word of when they will have the parts. I'm thinking of trading my car in, so that was the number one reason why I'm writing a Complaint, cause if I don't have the car anymore, then it might not get fixed for mths n mths, thank you! My email is [XXX] or call me @ [XXX] please! Also because I have other work that needs redone asap. on my car after it got out of the body shop a while ago INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The electronic steering assist failed twice within 10 days. The last time it happened the steering assist wouldn't work at all. The vehicle is not able to be driven in its present state without steering assist. Both times it happened the car was not moving so no accidents occurred. I did not take it in to be serviced. I do most of my mechanic work myself. The fuses are good. I disconnected the battery for a few days and tried it again and it still doesn't work. From online research I found that the 2011 and 2012 fusion models were recalled from this issue and there is an open investigation by the NHSTA of the 2010 fusion steering assist motor. The vehicle and part has not been inspected. I removed it today 7-30-2021 and plan on installing a re-manufactured electronic steering assist rack and pinion. There is a core charge so I'll be returning the part to the re-manufacturer. There were no warnings, just the message on the dashboard that the electronic steering assist had a problem. It happened the first time on 7-10-2021 and the second on 7-15-2021. The vehicle has 159,000 miles.
While reversing out of my driveway, my dash showed an alert saying "power steering assist failure". I had only manual steering, making it very hard to turn the wheel. I pulled back into the driveway safely. I looked that alert up online to see what to do, and I have found that THOUSANDS of others have had the exact same issue. I took it to the mechanic and they can't find any problem. How am I supposed to feel safe driving this car when thousands of other people are saying they have the same issue. I am even more alarmed that 2011 and 2012 ford fusions were recalled for this issue but not 2010? I feel very unsafe to even drive the car, even though the message has now gone off my dashboard without even fixing it....
Loss of steering assist while driving. Steering wheel got very hard to turn vehicle. The following message appeared after loss of steering: "POWER STEERING ASSIT FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC". Scanned codes: U3000-96 and C200D-49. Brought vehicle to Dealership for full diagnostic and awaiting response
The contact's friend owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the power steering had failed to operate as needed with several warning lights; including the power steering assist fault warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had not taken the vehicle to be diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, excessive pressure was needed to depress the brake pedal for the vehicle to come to a stop. The brake pedal almost needed to be depressed to the floorboard for the vehicle to come to a gradual stop. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the "Service Advancetrac" message was displayed and ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and the vehicle was turned off and restarted, and the warning message was no longer displayed, and the warning light was no longer illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the "Check Brake System" and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, there was an abnormal gasoline odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the gasoline odor was much more evident after refueling. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with the front fuel tank leaking and needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15V793000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair had been performed in 2016. The failure mileage was approximately 158,468.
While driving vehicle in normal weather conditions, power steering suddenly went out unexpectedly while driving myself, mother, and grandmother to the store. There was no warning and car was driving just fine prior to the power steering failure. Had to pull off road and call tow truck as i was unable to steer vehicle which was extremely dangerous. I am thankful I was not on freeway. Once power steering went out, power assist failure light came on dash. Car was towed to Ford dealership and was told dtc u3000 code came up when scanned meaning power steering gear (rack and pinion) needed to be replaced and car no longer drivable. Repair cost $2200 at Ford dealership. Car still not repaired as I can’t afford the repair. I understand some 2010-2015 fusions had same problem and were recalled and repaired. Frustrated as my vehicle has not been recalled for same issue as other models. Car has 133,000 miles and always been maintained.
While driving (Luckily) at lower speeds of about 15mph on two separate occasions, lights illuminated on the dashboard (Brake light, Service Advancetrac, and ABS) and the brakes hardly worked at all and had to stomp on them to get the car to slow, who knows what could have happened at highway speeds or traffic. I also have read of HUNDREDS of other reports of the same issues happening at highway speeds as well. There has been a recall so far referencing "19V904000" Though this does cover some of the affected models, the dates should be extended because the same issue covered in this recall is happening to HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS more customers needing the same parts replaced. So in my opinion this is the same issue as the recall and there is plenty of proof and we should look out for the safety of the customers as well as the families on the road traveling.
WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM VISITING FAMILY MEMBERS WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS, MY STEERING WHEEL GOT REALLY HARD TO STEER. POWER STEERING ASSITS FAILURE ALONG WITH SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC MESSAGES HAD APPEARED ON MY DASH. STEERING WHEEL GOT REALLY HARD TO STEER. IT ALMOST CAUSED ME GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR THIS REPAIR WHEN IT CLEARLY HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES IN THE PAST FOR THIS MODEL. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT SAID ISSUE, BUT BASED ON MY VIN NUMBER, THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE RECALLED, HOWEVER, I'M HAVING A HARD TIME TO BELIEVE THIS INFORMATION. AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH I FOUND ON THE WEBSITE CARCOMPLAINTS.COM THERE IS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF SAME ISSUE. I AM SOOOO MAD BECAUSE OF WHAT HAD HAPPENED, PUTTING MY FAMILY IN DANGER. ALTHOUGH I AM THANKFUL TO GOD THAT NOTHING BAD REALLY HAPPENED. ONCE AGAIN FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and would not accelerate more than 40 mph. The accelerator pedal would go to the floorboard when depressed however, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact was able to restart the vehicle as the failure occurred intermittently. The contact had a code reader reading with the failure code P112 - throttle actuator body control stuck closed. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he needed to pay for replacement of the throttle body and calibration. The vehicle was not diagnosed by the dealer nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls relating to the failure. The failure mileage was 144,866.
The tail lights do not work-I have also taken this to four mechanics and they cannot see what the problem is because when I brake (there is a lag in stopping time also) the brake lights come on. I cannot drive at night because of this.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, he depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to stop immediately. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to his residence. The contact stated that he contacted the dealer, and was informed that the Vin was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was outside of the manufactured date for the recall. The manufacturer informed the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 153,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon exiting the vehicle, the power steering warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle however, the vehicle was difficult to steer. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 173,834.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the power steering assist fault message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and remained at the dealer to be diagnosed and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
When traveling at any speed I have to press on the brakes harder and press the pedal further and it take the vehicle longer to stop.
brakes kept fading and going further to floor. changed master cylinder and could not get brakes back by bleeding. abs modual?
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while reversing out of the driveway, the brakes failed and the ABS was engaged. The contact stated that while the brake pedal was depressed the vehicle was shifted into drive however, the vehicle would not stop instantly and continued to move forward before stopping. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to bring in the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 142,900.
Unknown. Ever since I owned the vehicle it has had this soft braking pedal. I've found out it's the ABS module.
The rack n pinion motor failed while driving at highway speeds. Complete loss of steering mad it an extreme hazard to safely exit the road. This occurred suddenly without warning.
There was a recall on the make and modal of my car for the fuel system. The problem was with the pressurization in the fuel tank causing a leak through a crack in the tank (caused by the pressurization.) Unfortunately this occurred on my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. But the company will not recognize it because my VIN number is not on their list. This is a very scary and unsafe situation to be in. The company has no interest or want to look into it. The check engine light only came on after too much damage had occurred from the pressurization, leaving me with a cracked tank and fuel actively leaking out causing a very dangerous situation.
My brakes have failed three times between November of 2019 and May of 2020. The first incident was while I was backing out of our garage. Without warning, my brakes failed causing me to come to a very slow stop, almost hitting our brick fence. After the brakes failed, the entire dash lit up red. I immediately put the car in park and left it there until the tow truck came to take it to the brake shop. The brake shop inspected it and stated that all the components looked fine and that they could not duplicate the problem. When I went to pick up the car, the mechanic was backing it out of the bay and the brakes failed again. Because they were not sure what would cause it to happen since all the components appeared in good condition, out of precaution, they replaced the master cylinder and bled the brake lines. The car performed well until May of 2020, when they failed again, only this time the car was in drive. My husband had just pulled out of the school parking lot, so he was already at a low speed, but the brakes failed as he tried to stop. As in my experience, the pedal went to the floor before coming to a stop and then the dash lit up in red. He drove the car home and we then had it towed to the dealership. The dealership indicates that there was nothing visibly wrong with the vehicle and they could not replicate the problem, but because the car had 6 codes regarding the brake system, they would need to replace the master cylinder, the module HCU, ABS module, brake booster, and then reprogram the brake system. I've contacted Ford Customer Relations as there were recalls regarding the brake systems on other Fusions, but they can't do anything for me because the car's VIN is not showing any recalls except the airbags. The dealership indicated that I would have to do all of the above repairs or they wouldn't do any at all, as it was a safety issue.
I have contacted Woody Anderson Ford Dealership in Huntsville, AL and the dealer is giving me the run around about the recall. I have provided the same information multiple times and the dealership refuses to order parts for my vehicle. The last recall (Passenger Airbags replaced) for the same vehicle was just as bad. It this same dealership 3 years to replace the affected airbags. I can not wait this long again. Ford Motor Company called me last time and told me that the car was not safe to drive. Now, this recall affects the driver side Airbags again for the same reasons. I offered to pay for the Driver's side air bag, but was told there was nothing wrong with the airbags. Out of the clear blue the car Failed to Stop unless pump brakes several times , my Daughter was driving and almost wrecked and made it home safely. Upon safety and recall investigation there was a recall 19S54 Brakes Hydraulic failure for 2010 Ford Fusion however Vehicle Vin was not included. i tried to order the part my self but it could not be sold to me. Ford dealership tried to order the part and could not get it. Called Ford relations and they stated the vehicle needed to be taken to Ford Dealership to be diagnosed to see if the HCU is bad and if so the dealership file an internal claim to cover under the recall. Vehicle was taken to Sames Ford Bastrop TX 78602 and diagnosed that the HCU was bad and met the recall requirements. Internal Paperwork was filed. Part was ordered and arrived 2 weeks later. Vehicle was in the Ford Dealership shop and tech was performing the Air Bag recall at the time. I called to check status and service Center said I would get a call from the service director. Service Director called and told me one of the tech wrecked my car because of the brakes issue since the HCU module was not installed yet. Service director told me they would cover the labor but Ford refused to pay for the HCU module. This clearly meets the Safety recall and now the Dealership has to fix the car from the wreck caused by this recall. I called ford relations and they told me there is nothing they can do to add my vehicle to the recall claim. They stated I would need to write a letter to Ford Consumer Affairs about my situation. My stance is Ford should pay 100% , the dealership diagnosed and now wrecked my car because of the HCU failure and have not had my vehicle in 3 weeks!
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the power steering assist warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle several times, the warning light disappeared. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,755. The consumer stated the manufacturer is now aware of the problem.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 35 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the contact attempted to depress the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the vehicle went over a curb and into a grass field where the vehicle struck a tree which caused damage to the front undercarriage. There was no warning light illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. There was no medical treatment at the scene however, the contact went to see a doctor the next day for neck and lower back pain. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was concerned that the failure was related to the recent recall repair that was performed on the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.
The Power Steering Assist Fault light comes on & there is a loss of power steering, the system defaults to manual steering mode making it difficult to steer and increasing the risk of a crash.
I purchased this vehicle March 24th and was not aware of the airbag recall that would be issued the next day. I called the Ford dealer in Bloomington, IL in regards to the recall I was aware of on March 23rd and was told that the recall was on backorder and they had no information about when it would be available. I was not informed of any safety concerns in purchasing or driving the vehicle. On May 16, my daughter was in an accident driving this vehicle. She was hit directly on the driver side. The airbags did not deploy. Her forehead broke the driver side window resulting in cuts to her head, eyelid and concussion. The police officer who responded to the scene said that he was surprised the airbags did not go off in this severe of a crash. My car insurance has determined the vehicle a total loss. Title is being turned over to State Farm.
RECEIVED AN "ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM" FAULT WARNING AND MY BRAKES FAILED. ABS SYSTEM HAS FAULTED, AS WELL AS, ENGAGES DURING STOPS NO MATTER THE SPEED. HAS DIFFICULTY COMING TO A FULL STOP UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION IS DISENGAGED. THERE IS A RECENT RECALL FOR THIS MODEL, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL NOTICE. SAFETY RECALL 19S54 ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT VALVE FUNCTION 2006-2010 FORD LINCOLN & MERCURY
DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I STOPPED TO BUY GAS AND WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR.
While accelerating in my car, the transmission felt like it was slipping and jerks into gear. it happens anytime I go from a stop in the first few gears. It is very dangerous if I would have to move out of the way of traffic.
My car is showing the same break pedal symptoms as listed on the NHTSA 19V-904 recall but Ford didn't sent me this recall - their recall 19S54. I became aware of the recall because I initially took my car to a mechanic that has a friend who is a mechanic that works at Ford that said that this would likely be the problem. Called Ford manufacturing and they asked to go to a Ford shop to run diagnostics. I went to a Ford dealership, they ran the diagnostics and have no idea what's wrong. They said that there's no error codes being reported and I don't have any lights turned on due to an error. The car has the soft pedal issue and goes all the way down and breaking is impaired. Called Ford again today and the case CAS-32032947 was closed because this recall is not listed for my vehicle. I asked for Ford to via the Ford dealership mechanic to verify whether or not this is the problem because I've checked and there's a ton of cases online where other Ford Fusion owners were switching parts and it didn't fix the problem and therefore, I'm trying to avoid paying expensive repairs that will not address the issue. I'd like my car to be reviewed if it has this problem or not and I already took it to a Ford dealership as mentioned above and they have no idea what's wrong with the breaks. Diagnostics paperwork attached.
The contact owns a 2010 FORD Fusion. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, additional travel time was required for the vehicle to come to a stop. The contact stated there was no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer to be diagnosed with needing brake pedal to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
THE OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND TURNING ON THE RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED. THE CONTACT VEERED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHCILE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, while depressing the brake pedal to the floor, the vehicle failed to stop. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she drove into a near parking lot and stop the vehicle using the parking lot cement dividers. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
WHEN I START THE CAR JUST ABOUT EVERY 4-5TH TIME THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING WILL COME ON AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON TO GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY.
PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR GETS WET EVERYTIME RAIN/SNOW. RECALL COVERS OTHER YR FORD'S : 15B21 THIS IS GETTING WORSE OVER TIME AND CAN'T PUT NOTHING ON FLOOR AND WHEN IT'S COLD FEET GET COLD.USING PAPER TOWELS/ TOWELS/ MILDEW SPRAY.PLEASE HELP SO IT CAN BE LOOKED AT.I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.
I FILLED THE GAS TANK ON THE WAY HOME AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE. NEXT DAY THE GARAGE HAS STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND A TINY PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. GOOGLED AND SAW FORD HAD RECALL IN 2016. BOOK APPOINTMENT WITH FORD AND DROVE CAR IN. THEY SAY CAR WAS INSPECTED IN 2016, CHARGE $135 FOR INSPECTION THEN ASK FOR APPROX $1000 TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. I DECLINE AND SEEK ANOTHER SHOP. DRIVE CAR HOME AND THE WORST IS MUCH WORST. HAVE CAR TOWED TO NEW SHOP. NEW SHOP SAYS FUEL PUMP IS FINE, BUT THE TANK HAS A LEAK ON TOP (WHICH IS WHAT THE 2016 RECALL WAS TO AVOID). NOW I AM LOOKING AT APPROX $900 TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. IT WOULD SEEM THAT FORD SHOULD COVER THIS UNDER THE RECALL OR AT LEAST COVER THE $400+ COST OF THE TANK AT A MIN. THIS IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND POTENTIAL FIRE THAT COULD HAVE EASILY GONE UNNOTICED IF I HAD NOT PARKED INSIDE THAT NIGHT (CAR USUALLY STAYS OUTSIDE). THE MECHANIC AT THE NEW SHOP WAS NOT SURPRISED AND SAID TANKS ARE NOW OFTEN BEING REPLACE ON THESE CARS. THE CAR HAS NOW BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR OVER A WEEK AND WILL BE AT LEAST ANOTHER WEEK FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE AND GET THE REPLACEMENT WORK DONE.
CAR CONSTANTLY HAVE BRAKES, STEERING, FUEL, AND AIRBAGS PROBLEMS
MY SON WASN'T ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. HE WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY. I SAW OTHER PEOPLE HAD THIS PROBLEM.
2010 FORD FUSION POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING KEEPS COMING ON AND STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF POWER STEERING. IF YOU RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, SOME TIMES THE POWER STEERING STARTS WORKING AGAIN. PROBLEM IS GETTING WORST AND BEEN ON GOING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW.
I CURRENTLY GOT A LETTER STATING THAT IF I WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND MY AIRBAGS WERE TO DEPLOY THEY WOULD MOST LIKELY EXPLODE CAUSING SHARP MENTAL FRAGMENTS TI COME OUT WHICH WOULD HIT THE DRIVER AND POSSIBLY OTHER PEOPLE IN THE CAR. I AM CURRENTLY PREGNANT AND HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN FORD WON'T DUE ANYTHING TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED NOR ARE THEY WILLING TO GET ME IN A SAFE CAR THAT DOESN'T RUN THE RISK OF KILLING MY CHILDREN. I WAS ALREADY IN AN ACCIDENT IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THAT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY AND IF IT WERE IN THIS CAR IT WOULD MOST LIKELY KILL MY CHILDREN. WHY IS THIS SOMETHING THAT FORD WOULDN'T ALLOW DRIVERS TO GET PARTS FASTER OR PUT OWNERS IN SAFE RENTAL CARS?
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 21V158000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WADE FORD, INC. (3860 S COBB DR SE, SMYRNA, GA 30082, (770) 436-1200) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I KEEP HAVING A ERROR CODE COME UP ON MY DASH THAT SAYS ' POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT !' MY CAR WHEEL WILL LOCK UP RANDOMLY ; RESULTING IN ME NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL . I HAVE TO PARK, TURN OFF MY CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON . IT'S BEEN DOING THIS RANDOMLY ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS AND I AM AFRAID IT IS GOING TO ENDANGER MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY FAMILY'S IF I DO NOT GET TOO THE BOTTOM OF THIS . I'VE SEEN THERE WERE SIMILAR RECALLS WITH THE SAME MAKE MODEL BUT MY CAR YEAR WAS LEFT OUT OF THIS RECALL, NOT SURE WHY! ONLINE QUOTED FOR THIS REPAIR IS OVER $2000 AND IF THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED .*DT
AFTER A BRAKING EVENT IN WHICH THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED, THE PEDAL BECOMES SOFT/SPONGEY AND SINKS TO THE FLOOR MORE THAN IT USUALLY WOULD. THE CAR CAN STILL STOP, BUT IT REQUIRES A MUCH LARGER APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL (75% PUSHED IN VS 30% FOR EXAMPLE). THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST TWO TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. ONE EVENT OCCURRED WHEN THE ABS ACTIVATED DUE TO ICE ON THE ROAD, THE SECOND EVENT OCCURRED DUE TO BRAKING WHILE HYDROPLANING (ABS WAS ACTIVATED). AFTER THE MOST RECENT EVENT IN WHICH THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT, I WAS ABLE TO GET NORMAL BRAKE FUNCTIONALITY BY REPEATEDLY PRESSING THE PEDAL WHILE STATIONARY. THE PRESSURE DID NOT GRADUALLY BUILD IN THE PEDAL AS WOULD BE EXPECTED IF THERE WAS AIR IN THE LINE, IT WAS LIKE FLIPPING A SWITCH - ONE PRESS WAS SPONGEY AND THEN THE NEXT WAS NORMAL. I ALSO ATTEMPTED TO GET THE PEDAL BACK TO NORMAL BY BRAKING HEAVILY TO CAUSE THE ABS TO REENGAGE BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE ON THIS EXACT CAR FOR THIS EXACT YEAR BUILT IN THE SAME FORD PLANT (MEXICO) BUT THIS SPECIFIC VIN IS NOT INCLUDED AS PART OF THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A FAULTY ABS UNIT IN WHICH THE VALVES GET STUCK OPEN CAUSING THE FLUID TO CIRCLE THROUGH THE UNIT RATHER THAN APPLY THE BRAKES WHEN THEY ARE APPLIED. THIS ALSO EXPLAINS WHY THE PEDAL GOES BACK TO NORMAL - THERE IS NO AIR IN THE SYSTEM OR ANYTHING, THE VALVE IS GETTING STUCK OPEN AND THEN BECOMING UNSTUCK. THE RECALL NUMBER THAT I BELIEVE SHOULD INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE IS 16V250000. THIS VEHICLE IS CLEARLY EXHIBITING THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS AS THE VEHICLES IN THE AFOREMENTIONED RECALL AND IS THE SAME MODEL AND MODEL YEAR, AND IS ALSO BUILT IN THE SAME FORD PLANT AS THE AFFECTED VEHICLES.
DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR MY STEERING ASSIST DECIDED TO GO OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AS I WAS DRIVING A MESSAGE STATING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME UP ON THE DASH. NOTICED IT BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE VEHICLE. I AM JUST GLAD I WAS THE ONE DRIVING AND NOT MY RECENTLY LICENSED SON. AFTER LOOKING UP THE ISSUE ONLINE I NOTICED IT SEEMS TO BE A REGULAR ISSUE WITH THESE CARS.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON. AND THE BRAKES WENT OUT. I ALMOST HAD A CAR ACCIDENT AND NOW THE BRAKES ARE HARD TO PRESS DOWN. THE DASH SAYS ABS AND BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE.
