Fusion brakes have lost pressure and pedal basically goes to the floor before it engages. There is a recall on this (19V904000) but was cut off a few months before mine was built. I have had brakes changed, bled, and master cylinder inspected to be told it’s the same problem as the recall, except not covered on mine. I want to make NHTSA aware this problem is bigger than the covered recall and Ford will not do anything for me. Also, the same with my purge valve. I’ve had a trouble with my vehicle starting, always after filling up gas, even have a code stating it is my evap/purge. Recall (15V793000) again, my vehicle falls outside of the recall so Ford will not help. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to encourage Ford to assist with at minimum the faulty breaking system, preferably both issues. Either way, I wanted to submit the issue so NHTSA has record of the ongoing issue with Ford. Thanks :-)
I STARTED MY CAR UP AND THE BRAKE , BRAKE LIGHT,ABS,AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND EV DON'T TURN ON,NO BACK UP CAMERA
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HER GRANDSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER GRANDSON WAS REVERSING OUT THE DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED WITH AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER NEPHEW A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE HOWEVER, SHE WAS UNAWARE OF THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
POWER STEERING FAILED
MY BREAKS HAVE BECOME SQUISHY. EVERY TIME APPLIED. I WAIT IMPATIENTLY FOR A SWIFT RESOLUTION.
MY POWER STEERING ASSIST QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET JUST AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME WITOUT INCIDENT. I'VE READ VARIOUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME FROM OTHER 2010 FUSION OWNERS. I TOOK IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS QUOTED $1600.00 TO REPAIR. THE CAR IS MOST LIKELY NOT WORTH THAT MUCH BUT I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW ONE OR FIX THIS ONE. I'VE RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE BRAKES TIRES TIE RODS ETC. AND NOW I HAVE SCRAP IT BECAUSE IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I'M HOPING THAT THIS ISSUE WITH MY FUSION IS SOMETHING THAT WILL BE RECALLED
SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AFTER STOPPING ON SLIPPERY OR BUMPY ROAD. BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND REQUIRES SEVERAL PUMPS TO STOP. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IS COVERED BY EXISTING RECALL, BUT NOT FOR THIS VIN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED IN THE LOCKED POSITION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE STEERING FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR VEHICLE HOWEVER, HER VEHICLE YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT CALLED BALISE FORD OF CAPE COD (90 HIGH SCHOOL RD EXT, HYANNIS, MA 02601) AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SHE WOULD RECEIVE A CALLBACK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,678.
I WAS AT A PARKING LOT AND WAS PULLING OUT IN REVERSE WHEN MY CAR WAS STILL MOVING BACKWARDS WITHOUT STOPPING BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I PULLED THE E-BRAKE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AGAIN AND I WENT TO AN EMPTY ROAD AND TESTED MY BRAKES AND REALIZED THAT WHEN I WENT REVERSE MY BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING. I TESTED IT AGAIN AFTER A COUPLE HOURS AND IT WORKED FINE BUT SOON AFTER THAT IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE VISITING OUT-OF-STATE IN PA, DRIVING AT 35-45MPH, THE 'SERVICE POWER STEERING' WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, BUT STEERING STILL WORKED. BUT WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF & BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WAS TOTALLY GONE'NO POWER STEERING ASSIST AT ALL! THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (BUILT INTO THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING, UNDER STEERING WHEEL) WAS REPLACED. POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED'. ONLY FOR ABOUT 6 OR 7 MILES OF MECHANIC TEST DRIVE & CONTACT'S PICKING UP REPAIRED VEHICLE. HOWEVER, NEXT DAY AS CONTACT WAS JUST STARTING OUT ON THE 1300 MILE TRIP BACK HOME TO KS, THE 'SERVICE POWER STEERING' WARNING LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. BASED ON EARLIER EXPERIENCE, THE CONTACT ASSUMED THE POWER STEERING WOULD REMAIN OPERABLE (EVEN WITH THE SERVICE LIGHT ON) UNTIL THE KEY IS TURNED OFF. SO, HE CONTINUED TO DRIVE TOWARD HOME WITHOUT TURNING OF THE IGNITION'AND THE POWER STEERING CONTINUED TO WORK. WHEN, AFTER 675 MILES OF TRAVEL, CONTACT STOPPED AT MOTEL FOR THE NIGHT & TURNED OFF THE KEY, THE POWER STEERING WAS TOTALLY GONE AGAIN (NO POWER ASSIST!). CONTACT COMPLETED THE REMAINING 625 MILES THE FOLLOWING DAY'.BUT WITHOUT POWER STEERING! UPON ARRIVAL AT HOME, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIDWEST FORD (1100 E 30TH AVE, HUTCHINSON, KS 67502, (800) 530-5789) FOR FAILED POWER STEERING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING RACK AND BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, AND CONTACT POINTED OUT MFG. RECALL FOR THE 2011-2013 FUSIONS THAT MISSED THE 2010'S WITH SAME STEERING ISSUES (NHTSA INVESTIGATION FOR 2010'S WAS RE-OPENED IN FALL OF 2017'STILL OPEN). HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED BY MFG.. THE INITIAL FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,174. INVALID VIN*DT*JB
PRESSED ON BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ALARM CHIME SOUNDED. THE DASHLIGHTS FOR ABS SYSTEM AND SKID CONTROL LIT UP ALONG WITH WARNING TO HAVE ADVANCE BRAKING SYSTEM SERVICE. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE IN NON EMERGENCY SITUATION BUT JUST BARELY AVOIDED REAR END CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 20-25MPH. PULLED CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED OFF KEY AND THEN RESTARTED. DASH CODES CLEARED AND CAR OPERATED NORMALLY SINCE. I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. NHTSA RECALL COVERS THIS PROBLEM FOR THE SAME FORD MODEL VEHICLES AS MINE BUT MY VIN IS EXCLUDED. PLEASE EXTEND THE COVERAGE TO MY VIN
I WAS DRIVING TO CLASS WHEN I GOT A 'LOW TIRE PRESSURE' LIGHT ON MY DASH. AS I WAS LATE FOR CLASS, I DID NOT ADDRESS IT. AFTER CLASS, I WAS ON MY WAY HOME TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE WHEN MY POWER STREERING WENT OUT. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT ON A BUSY STREET AND WAS DRIVING SLOW OR ELSE I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I MANAGED TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME AND PUT AIR IN THE TIRE, AS I HAVE READ THAT LOW TIRE PRESSURE WILL SOMETIMES SET OFF THE POWER STREERING. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WENT OFF BUT I STILL DO NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. I HAVE TRIED TO RESET MY CAR BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR OVER AN HOUR AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I FIND IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THAT THE POWER STREERING WILL TURN OFF WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. IF I WAS ON AN HIGHWAY OR BUSY STREET, I SURELY WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE POWER STREERING WENT OUT, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH ON A CITY STREET IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. I AM JUST LUCKY TO HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN SUCH CONDITIONS AND NOT ON A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE.
THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN GOING IN AND OUT FOR WEEKS. IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS, EVERY TIME I START THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING FAULT ERROR LIGHTS UP ON MY DASHBOARD AND I CANNOT MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL UNTIL I TURN OFF MY VEHICLE AND START THE CAR AGAIN. TODAY, I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR 5 TIMES, THE POWER STEERING ERROR MESSAGE SHOWED EACH TIME, AND I WAS NEVER ABLE TO MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL. AFTER WAITING SEVERAL HOURS, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE MY CAR. SINCE THE ISSUE HAS NOW GROWN TO BE THIS SEVERE, I'M FEARFUL THAT THE POWER STEERING IS NOW GOING TO GO OUT WHILE I'M DRIVING.
THE RACK AND PINION IS STARTING TO GET HARD AND MAKING NOISE. MY STEERING IS NOT FUNCTIONING AS IT SUPPOSE TO BE. ENGINE IS STARTING TO SHAKE WHILE ON RED LIGHT. MY A/C DOESN'T WORK AND LIGHTS DO NOT WORK FROM THE INSIDE.
MARCH OF 2018 MY VEHICLES POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON WHEN I CRANKED THE VEHICLE. SHUT CAR OFF AND RECRANKED AND FAULT HAD RESET. MY SON WAS DRIVING IT ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHEN IT FAULTED AGAIN ON A COUNTRY BACK ROAD. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD, RESTARTED AND FAULT RESET. VEHICLE WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ON 4/17/18 WAS SENT TO REPAIR SHOP. SHOP REPLACED THE POWER STEERING RACK WITH 79500 MILES (HAVE COPY OF BILL, UNABLE TO UPLOAD).ON 10/17/20 POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTED AGAIN WHEN CRANKED WITH 98228 MILES. RESTARTED AND FAULT RESET. WITHIN TWO YEARS AND LESS THAN 19000 MILES POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTED. LUCKILY BOTH TIMES IT FAULTED FOR ME WAS WHEN STARTING. I LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA WITH BACK ROADS AND IT'S MY PRIMARY VEHICLE AND VERY AFRAID WHEN I NEED TO DRIVE IT. MILEAGE AND DATE ARE BASED ON AFTER THE REPAIR WAS DONE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE FRONT END OF THE FORD FUSION HIT THE RIGHT REAR/SIDE OF ANOTHER CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER BEING CUT OFF BY ANOTHER CAR WEAVING IN & OUT OF TRAFFIC AT A HIGH SPEED. THE FORD FUSION WAS DESIGNATED "TOTALED" BY THE BODY SHOP AND INSURANCE ADJUSTER DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAGS ON THIS FORD FUSION WERE PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL AND WERE REPLACED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS SO THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN GOOD WORKING ORDER BUT THEY NEVER DEPLOYED. VERY CONCERNING.
POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING. DROVE 1/2 A MILE ON CITY STREETS AND PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. RETURNED 20 MIN. LATER AND AS I WAS STARTING THE CAR THE MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' WARNING CAME ON. NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. TRIED RESTARTING SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO CHANGE. DROVE HOME WITH NO POWER STEERING. HAVE TRIED SEVERAL DAYS WITH THE SAME WARNING GIVEN AND STILL NO POWER STEERING WORKING.
HAD NO POWER STEERING. HAD MULTIPLE FAULT LIGHTS ON DASH. THE FAULT LIGHTS WERE "POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT" AND "ADVANCE TRAC." FUSION HAD 97,800 MILES. THE CAR WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. DID NOT DRIVE CAR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE I COULDN'T. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE SHOPPING. FINALLY HAD A VERY COSTLY REPAIR DONE. THEY REPLACED THE GEAR ASSEMBLY. I UNDERSTAND THAT A RECALL WAS DONE ON OTHER FORD FUSION MODEL YEARS. WHY WAS A RECALL NOT DONE ON THE 2010?

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 195,000.
WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, WHEN THE ORANGE "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR ENGINE LOST POWER. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN OFF THE ROAD SINCE IT WAS A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. THE CAR HAS A CODE OF P2111 POSTED, AND I THOUGHT MY 2010 FORD FUSION WAS COVERED UNDER FORD'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03, BUT THEY DO NOT SHOW THAT MY CAR IS COVERED UNDER 13N03, AND CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT IS NOT. THE SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM EXACTLY MATCH THAT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. IT WAS QUITE A DANGEROUS SITUATION, HAVING THE ENGINE LOSE POWER LIKE THAT WHILE DRIVING ON A CROWDED INTERSTATE, AND I FEEL THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS IS AN OLDER VEHICLE, IT SHOULD BE LLOOKED INTO FURTHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKES TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND VEHICLE LOSS BRAKING FUNCTIONALITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
I STARTED MY CAR UP AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. ONCE I STARTED DRIVING. I GOT A MESSAGE SAYING POWER STEARING FAULT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AND STEER THE CARD. I HAD TO PUT MY CAR INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE OFF. I THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE ISSUE WAS GONE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIME NOW JUST AFTER STARTING MY CAR. AFTER HAVING MY CAR CHECKED OVER THE DEALER FINDS NOTHING WRONG ON A TEST DRIVE. CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
ON10/4/2020, TRAVELING FORWARD ON A NEARBY COUNTY ROAD AT APPROX 40 MPH, THE ABS WARNING AND ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM FAILURE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS NO POWER BRAKES. AFTER BECOMING VERY EXCITED AND BELIEVING THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL INCHES FURTHER THAN NORMAL AND FELT RESISTANCE. WITH ENOUGH PRESSURE I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP BUT NOT AN EASY TASK. IF THIS HAD BEEN A SITUATION IN WHICH I NEEDED TO STOP QUICKLY, I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MANAGED. CONTACTED A FAMILY MEMBER AND I FOLLOWED THEM SLOWLY TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE FORD DEALER CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND STATED THAT IT WAS AN ABS MODULE FAILURE AND THAT THIS PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL NOVEMBER 2020. IN DOING RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT RECALL # 19S54 HAD BEEN ISSUED. AND ASK THE DEALER ABOUT IT. THEY STATED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AS THE TIME RANGE IS FROM FEB 22, 2006 UNTIL JULY 15TH, 2009 FOR FUSIONS BUILT AT THE HERMOSILLO MEXICO PLANT. MY FUSION WAS BUILT ON AUGUST 1ST, 2009 OR 2 WEEKS LATER AT THE SAME PLANT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT MY PART # DID NOT MATCH EXACTLY TO THE FORD RECALL PART # LISTED BUT IS STILL PART OF THE ABS MODULE. (A FEW #S OFF - I.E. 2C215 VS. 2C219) THIS ALL SEEMS ODD THAT IN READING THE OTHER INCIDENTS, MY FUSION HAD IDENTICAL ISSUES BUT BECAUSE IT WAS BUILT 2 WEEKS LATER AT THE SAME PLANT IN MEXICO AND THE PART # IS A FEW DIGITS OFF BUT PART OF THE SAME MODULE, MY FUSION'S INCIDENT IS SOMEHOW DIFFERENT. I QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF THE TEST AND CODES. ALSO WHAT IS A PERSON SUPPOSE TO DO WHEN NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR AT BEST, 30 DAYS. I GUESS I'LL SEE IN 30 DAYS.
WHILE DRIVING AND APPROACHING A STOP ON A TURN, I HIT A POTHOLE THAT CAUSED MY ABS SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION WHICH RESULTED IN A GREAT REDUCTION IN BREAK EFFICIENTLY AND/OR LOSS OF BREAKING COMPLETELY. IN RESEARCHING PROBABLE CAUSES AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS, THE SITUATION DESCRIBED IS JUST AS DESCRIBED IN FORD RECALL - 19S54. MY CURRENT MODEL FUSION (A 2010 SE) IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER, THE SITUATION IS RECURRING AND GETTING WORSE.
I have 2010 Fusion that I have brought 3 yrs ago but last year my power steering fault has been going on and off. Since the pandemic happened I did not worry because I was working for home and my children were learning from home so the stiffness of the wheel. Now that everything is getting back to normal in slowly. I took my car to the mechanic and he explained that the power steering would need to be replace and I expressed that Ford has not recalled the 2010 Fusion for the power steering fault. To have this fix they quoted me $1400 and I am now trying to get a two quote.
DIFFICULT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. IS STILL POSSIBLE TO DRIVE, ALBEIT MORE DIFFICULT THAN NEEDED, NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATING FROM THE ISSUE, YET.

2010 FORD FUSION BUILT AT THE HERMOSILLO PLANT IN AUGUST 2009 IS SUFFERING FROM THE SAME HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT ISSUES AS A CURRENT RECALL: 19V904000 THAT COVERS THE SAME VEHICLE AND PARTS FROM THE SAME PLANT BUT FOR A FEB. 22, 2006, TO JULY 15, 2009 TIMEFRAME. MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IS CAUSING THE ABS SYSTEM TO FAIL AND NOT ENGAGE RESULTING IN NEEDING ABNORMAL EXTRA FORCE TO STOP VEHICLE IN EMERGENCY BRAKING SITUATIONS. THEREFORE GREATLY INCREASING RISK OF COLLISION AND REDUCING SAFETY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WON'T DO THE OPEN RECALLED FOE MY CAR BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW IF PART IS GOOD OR NOT.. I WENT AND PICK UP MY CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP THEY ONLY DID THE AIRBAG.. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU GUYS COULD CONTACT THEM AND LET THEM KNOW TO REPLACE THE PART.. RECALL NUMBER IS 15S34
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND BRAKING ON SNOW COVERED, WET AND/OR BUMPY ROADS, THE BRAKES WILL MOMENTARILY FAIL AS THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES WAY DOWN TO NEAR THE FLOOR BEFORE RE-ENGAGING THE BRAKES. THIS RESULTS IN TEMPORARY LOSS OF BREAKING AND GREATER STOPPING DISTANCE THEN INITIALLY INTENDED AND HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE WHILE BREAKING OVER A SMALL POT HOLE. THE PEDAL NEEDED TO BE DEPRESSED DOWN MUCH FARTHER THEN NORMAL.
MY FORD FUSION 2010 HYBRID HAS A BRAKE MALFUNCTION AND WHILE I AM DRIVING THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY INDICATE A BRAKE SENSOR FAILURE, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL HAVE TO BE DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. ODDLY ENOUGH, TURNING THE CAR OFF, AND BACK ON, WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. SO WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, IF I EXPERIENCE THIS SENSOR FAILURE/4 ODDLY ENOUGH, TURNING THE CAR OFF, AND BACK ON, WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. SO WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, IF I EXPERIENCE THIS SENSOR FAILURE/FAULTY I HAVE TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND SHUT THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND HOPE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 70+ ON THE INTERSTATE. IT CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD ONE TIME AS I WAS GETTING READY TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED AND HAD ALMOST CAUSED ME TO FLY OFF OF THE RAMP, AS I WAS NOT READY TO HAVE TO ATTEMPT TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, JUST TO GET IT TO SLOW DOWN. I CAN PROVE THIS WITH VIDEO FOOTAGE AS WELL FOR EVIDENCE.
WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS MY POWER STEERING FAILED AND STEERING WHEEL JERKED TO THE RIGHT. STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW MESSAGE CAME UP ON DASH.
THE VEHICLE ABS MODULE FAILED AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES, RESULTING IN DELAYED AND MORE DIFFICULT BRAKING. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO NOT BRAKE PROPERLY AND HAS RESULTED IN DOCUMENTED ACCIDENTS. THIS PROBLEM IS RELATED TO FORD RECALL #19S54 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 19V904000. THE FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANIC SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES EXHIBITED THE SAME MANUFACTURING DEFECT AS THE RECALL, BUT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AT A SLIGHTLY LATER DATE (< 2 MONTHS AFTER THE AFFECTED-PARTS END DATE). UPON CONTACTING FORD, THEY REFUSED TO INCLUDE THE VEHICLE IN THE RECALL BECAUSE OF THIS. WE ARE ALERTING NHTSA THAT MORE 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID VEHICLES MAY BE IMPACTED OTHER THAN THE ONES CAPTURED IN THE INITIAL RECALL.

THE BRAKES FEEL STUCK AND SLOW RESPONDING, WITH EXTENDED BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL. ALSO THE "CHECK BRAKE" LIGHT APPEARS. MATCH THE SYMPTOMS FOR FORD FUSION RECALL 19S54, AND WAS ALSO BUILT IN HERMOSILLO, MEXICO, AND YET BECAUSE MY CAR IS A HYBRID, MY CAR IS NOT TECHNICALLY RECALLED, DESPITE HAVING THE SAME, HIGHLY DANGEROUS ISSUES.
WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE POWER STEERING FAILED UPON STARTUP. THE MESSAGE "POWER ASSISTED STEERING FAULT" WAS SHOWN ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED.

THE LOCAL DEALER STERLING FORD LOCATED AT 5524 I-49 FRONTAGE RD, OPELOUSAS, LA 70570 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.

MY FUSION WAS ON RECALL FOR THE LUG NUTS. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE REPLACEMENT LUG NUTS. THE NEW LUG NUTS ARE NOT THE SAME SIZE. I FOUND THAT OUT BY ROTATING MY TIRES. THE LUG RANCH FROM MY CAR DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY. THE COVERING OVER THE LUG NUTS THAT SUPPORTS THE HUB CAPS STRIPPED WHEN TRYING TO LOOSEN THE BOLTS. A STANDARD FOUR WAY LUG WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT ALSO. I WAS FORTUNATE MY NEIGHBOR WAS HOME WHO HAD A AIR GUN. HE HAD TO USE A DIFFERENT SIZE SOCKET TO EVEN GET THEM LOOSE. THE LUG NUT COVERS ON THE LUG NUTS ARE A DIFFERENT SIZE THEN THE OLD RECALL ONES. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE REMOVING THE OLD ONES WITH THE LUG RANCH THAT WAS PROVIDED WITH MY CAR. IF I HAVE A FLAT WHILE DRIVING THEIRS NO WAY OF CHANGING THE FLAT UNLESS YOU HAVE AN AIR GUN AND A CERTAIN SIZE SOCKET. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO DRIVES A FORD FUSION THAT HAD A TIRE THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THEY RAN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NEW LUG NUTS. THEY HAD TO CALL A TIRE STORE TO COME OUT TO THEIR HOME WITH AN AIR WRENCH AND A CERTAIN SIZE SOCKET TO REMOVE THE LUG NUTS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. WHICH I DOUBT THEY WILL. THEY HAVEN'T REPLACE THE HCU YET ON MY CAR THAT I RECEIVED A RECALL ON A YEAR AGO. WHICH ENDING UP CAUSING ME TO WRECK THE CAR WHEN MY BRAKES FAILED AND CAUSING DAMAGES TO MY CAR.

I REALIZED THAT I HAD LOST MOST OF BY BRAKING ABILITY AS WELL AS REGENERATIVE BRAKING. CHECKING THE INTERNET REVEALED THAT THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR THIS PROBLEM ON FORD FUSIONS BUILT IN MEXICO DURING THE TIME FRAME THAT MY FORD WAS BUILT IN MEXICO USING DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID AS MINE USES. THE RECALL(NHTSA #19V-904 FORD #19S54) STATES THAT IT IS NON-VIN SPECIFIC. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HE SAID THE VIN # OF MY FORD DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL??? I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID TOO THAT THE VIN # DISQUALIFY 'S ME FROM THIS RECALL AND COULD NOT TELL ME WHY. I WAS TOLD TO SET UP AN APPT. WITH A DEALER, DEALER , PAY THEM 130.00 FOR AN ANALYSIS, AND THEN FORD WOULD ADD IT TO THEIR DATABASE OF PROBLEMS FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATION. THE RECALL STATES ABS MODULES ARE HAVING VALVE PROBLEMS BUT FORD HAS LIMITED THEIR ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE PROBLEM TO CERTAIN MODULES. PER THE RECALL I TALKED TO THE GAVE THEM THE DATA ON MY ABS LABELS BUT THEY HAD NO IDEA WHICH DATE CODE,ETC IS COVERED BY FORD. ANOTHER CALL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE RESULTED IN A SCRIPTED RESPONSE OF WE DON'T KNOW WHICH MODULES ARE COVERED AND WHY MY CAR IS NOT. ESCALATING TO THE "MANAGER OF CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS ANOTHER BRICK WALL, THEY REFUSE TO TELL ME THE SPECIFICS OF THE MODEL/SERIAL#, EVEN THE PART NUMBER OR DATE CODE OF THE MODULES COVERED SO THAT I CAN VERIFY WHAT I HAVE IN MY VEHICLE. FORD HAS PUT BLINDERS ON TO THE FACT THAT MORE ABS MODULES HAVE PROBLEMS THAN THEIR ENGINEERS HAVE IDENTIFIED. CHECKING THE INTERNET REVEALS MANY OTHERS WERE TREATED TO THE SAME DENIAL THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED!!

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST POWER STEERING. THEN THE SERVICE STEERING NOW LIGHT CAME ON. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. I DID NOT HAVE ANY WARNING OR ANYTHING. IT MADE STEERING THE VEHICLE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AND I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. THIS REALLY SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST ESPECIALLY SINCE ITS ALL ELECTRIC STEERING.

IT APPEARS THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RECALLED IN OTHER YEARS OF THIS MODEL, BUT NOT THE 2010 FPRD FUSION HYBRID.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEMS MAYBE A WHEEL ALIGNMENT NOW MY POWER STEERING ISN'T WORKING AND IN ORDER TO FIX IT THE CAR SHOPS ARE SAYING REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION WHICH IS EXPENSIVE. I HAVE ALSO LOOKED UP THIS ISSUE AND MANY PEOPLE SHARE THIS SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT.

REPORTED TO RACEWAY FORD IN RIVERSIDE CA, DOUGH HALL SAID THERE'S NO RECALL ON IT AND CAN FIX @ A COSTLY PRICE....HOWEVER...NHTSA'S INITIAL INVESTIGATION OF THE 2010 FUSION CARS FOUND THE POWER STEERING FAULTS INCREASE AS THE CARS GET OLDER, AND FAILURE RATES ARE SIMILAR TO PREVIOUS POWER STEERING INVESTIGATIONS OF OTHER FORD MODELS. SAFETY REGULATORS SAY THE 2016 PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION IS NOW UPGRADED TO AN ENGINEERING ANALYSIS TO DETERMINE IF THE 263,000 MODEL YEAR 2010 FORD FUSION CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED.*DT
