STARTED CAR IN DRIVEWAY AND HAD NO POWER STEERING. DASH LIGHT DISPLAYED POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT. SHUT OFF CAR TWICE AND GOT IT BACK. I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I'M A WOMAN. I WOULD NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO CONTROL THE CAR. I WOULD CRASH. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS YEAR, BUT OTHERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. DOES IT TAKE DEATH TO HAVE A RECALL?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT 10 MPH, WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL MADE GRINDING NOISES AND BECAME HARD TO MANEUVER. THE POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT INFORMED AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER OF THE FAILURE, AND WAS DIRECTED TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO CONTACT NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 189,000.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROAD OR SLICK ROAD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE POWER STEERING FAULT WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WESTERN SLOPE FORD (2264 US-50, GRAND JUNCTION, CO 81505, (970) 243-0843) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
DEALER THAT SOLD ME THIS VEHICLE NEVER INFORMED ME ABOUT ANY RECALLS AND THAN ONE DAY MY SON WAS CHECKING THE OIL WHILE STATIONARY AND OFF WE THOUGHT IT WAS WEIRD THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE CABLE, HE CONNECTS IT AND THAN HE PROCEEDED TO TURN ON THE CAR TO OUR ASTONISHMENT THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURN ON, WE TOOK IT TO EMISSIONS AND THAT'S WHEN WE FOUND OUT HOW ENDANGERED OUR LIVES WERE, OF WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS BEFORE, WE WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR. WE NEARLY GOT WRECKED TODAY ON 03/04/2021, I WAS MORE SCARED OF THE VEHICLE IN WHICH I AM THAN THE CAR THAT NEARLY CRASHED ME... I DON'T WANT TO DIE IN AN INSTANCE OF BEING INVOLVED IN A CAR CRASH AND HAVE NO MONEY TO AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE. AND AS WE WERE LEAVING THE HOUSE A FEW DAYS LATER AFTER 02/03/2021, MY DAUGHTER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT TRIED PUTTING ON HER SEATBELT BUT OF NO AVAIL AS THE SEATBELT WOULDN'T CLIP.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE BRAKES BEGIN WORKING. MY MECHANIC BELIEVES IT IS THE "HCU" AND IS SUPRISED IT IS NO RECALLED UNDER 19V904 OR 19S54
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal would intermittently depress to the floorboard with the ABS warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they were initially unable to diagnose the failure. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer to diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS was defective however, the Vin was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

FOR YEARS I HAVE BEEN GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT SAYS 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. I TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART AND IT'S GONE FOR AWHILE. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATED THE ERROR SO THEY SENT ME HOME. YESTERDAY I GOT THE SAME ERROR BUT A RESTART WOULD NOT CLEAR THE MESSAGE. I DROVE IT TO MY MECHANIC WITH THIS MESSAGE AND A NEW MESSAGE THAT SAYS 'SERVICE ADVANCETRAC'. THE FIX WILL BE ABOUT $2300. I KNEW THAT 2011 MODELS HAVE A RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ERROR ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE YEARS. IT'S UPSETTING TO SEE THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO PEOPLE WHILE IN MOTION AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY FORD WON'T COVER THIS SAFETY HAZARD ON THE 2010 LIKE THEY HAVE THE 2011.
I SUDDENLY GOT AN ALERT TO SERVICE THE POWER STEERING AND IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT IT WAS GOING OUT. AFTER THE ALERT TURNED ON MY VEH STARTED SHAKING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO FALL APART

THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE CODE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. ADDITIONALLY, THE ABS WAS LEAKING FLUID. THE CONTACT ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOW DEALER THAT CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND THAT THE RECALL NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED TO FIX THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER HIMSELF HOWEVER, THE REPAIR WAS NOT COMPLETED UNTIL THE RECALL PART WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY CAR IS LEAKING FUEL. I AM UNABLE TO PASS THE SMOG. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY ALREADY 'INSPECTED' MY FUEL TANK IN 2016 AND IT WAS FINE SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO FIX IT NOW. THIS WAS RECALLED. IT IS EFFECTING MY CAR AND THEY NEED TO REPAIR IT. JUST BECAUSE IT WASN'T HAPPENING BEFORE DOESN'T MEAN THEY SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROBLEM NOW THAT IT HAS HAPPENED AND MY CAR IS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT.
ON THE WAY TO WORK, I SUDDENLY GOT 2 ALERTS "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING". I WAS WORRIED, BUT STEERING FELT OK TO ME AT THE TIME, I DECIDED TO GO BACK HOME... I LEFT CAR IN MIDDLE OF STREET WITH HAZARDS, I TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON TO SEE IF ERRORS WOULD CLEAR. AFTER IT STARTED THIS TIME, THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OFF, NEW ALERTS "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "SERVICE POWERSTEERING NOW". CAR IS NOW STUCK, AND UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN. IT TOOK ME 5 MINUTES TO GET THE CAR INTO OUR PARKING SPOT. STEERING WHEEL IS BARELY ABLE TO BE TURNED WITH EXTREME FORCE. I'M DISGUSTED TO SEE THAT MANY, MANY OTHER COMPLAINS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR 2010 FORD FUSION WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUES, SOME RESULTING IN SERIOUS CAR CRASHES AND OTHER INJURIES, AND NO RECALL. IT IS INSANE TO ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS CAR. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD CONTINUED ALONG TO WORK ON THE BELTWAY, AS MY LIFE WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY BEEN IN DANGER IF THIS LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I'VE DRIVEN CARS WITH NO POWER STEERING BEFORE, BUT THIS STEERING WHEEL IS COMPLETELY LOCKED, I HAVE NO CLUE HOW I AM GOING TO GET IT TO THE DEALER WITHOUT TOWING COSTS.

THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROADWAY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
I RECEIVED AN ALERT FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND IMMEDIATELY HAD NO POWER STEERING. NOW I HAVE TO PURCHASE A RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY FOR THE CAR BECAUSE NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. I SEE WHERE YOU ALL HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED AN INVESTIGATION BUT FORD STATES THEY HAVE NOT COMPLETED THEIRS. HOW LONG DOES THIS TAKE? THIS PART AND LABOR TO HAVE THIS COMPLETED IS VERY EXPENSIVE!
LOST ABILITY TO STEER CAR. ERROR MESSAGE: POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT FAILURE". UNABLE TO TURN STEERING WHEEL AT ALL AND THEREFORE UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR.
SAFETY RECALL 19S54 IDENTIFIES BRAKE PROBLEMS FOR 06-10 FORD FUSIONS. MY CAR HAS THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, BUT AFTER TAKING IT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR, I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. IT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE REPAIRS. HOW CAN I GET IT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ELIGIBILITY?
This link is to a video of my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid that chronically experiences break system failure. This problem seems to be an electrical malfunction as the break system resumes working when the the alerts disappear from the dash. I purchased this Ford in December 2020 and began experiencing this problem in January 2021. This has been an ongoing issue for me and I have taken the Fusion Hybrid to Sunnyvale Ford once for this issue this year without a successful solution to what the malfunction is for my car. After researching this problem online, it was found thousands of fusions are experiencing this problem under a recall for the hydraulic unit for the breaking system. Ford continues to say my vehicle's vin doesn't have a break system recall. However, this very dangerous break system failure malfunction continues to resurface and remains a safety issue. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING PRESENT ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. I KNOW THERE WERE MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE ON NEW VEHICLES. UNABLE TO DRIVE AND UTILIZE POWER STEERING.
WHEN I STARTED CAR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT LIT UP AS WELL AS SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT, POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK, COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. WENT TO WORK AND WHEN I TRIED AGAIN LATER THAT DAY, FAULT LIGHTS DIDN'T LIGHT AND STEERING WAS NORMAL. UNFORTUNATELY THE SAME PROBLEM CAME ON AND AGAIN TRIED LATER IN DAY BUT BOTH FAULT LIGHTS LIT UP, AND STEERING WAS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE.GOT AN ESTIMATE FROM MECHANIC FOR A $2000 REPAIR, SAID THE STEERING ASSEMBLY/ELECTRIC MOTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, CAR HAS 106000 MILES.FUSIONS AND MERCURY MKZ'SOF SIMILAR YEARS BUT NOT 2010'S WERE RECALLED, DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED, THE ASSIST STEERING FAULT CAME ON. IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ERROR POPPED UP. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE WHEEL AT ALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MY YEAR (2010) DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A RECALL, BUT THE LATER YEARS DO FOR SOME REASON. THE 2010 SHOULD ALSO HAVE THE RECALL!!
WELL IT ALL BEGAN ONE DAY I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT AFTER HAVING JUST BEEN WORKING FINE . I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY STRANGE, ALMOST LIKE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE REPLACED BUT NOT BLED AND THERE IS AIR IN THE SYSTEM. SO I TOOK IT DOWN TO MY LOCAL LES SCHWAB AND THEY REPLACED MY MASTER CYLINDER AND FRONT BRAKES , INCLUDING : NEW CALIPERS , NEW PADS , AND RESURFACED ROTORS , WITH NO SUCCESS. NOW THEY LOOKED INTO IT AND THERE IS AN ONGOING RECALL DESCRIBED AS - "ABS VALVE MAY REMAIN OPEN AFTER ABS EVENT " . MY VEHICLE A 2010 FORD FUSION IS LISTED AS BEING AFFECTED BUT MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW A RECALL NEEDED .

The contact then discovered that his vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The parts for the repair were initially unavailable; however, once parts were available, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The contact stated that the dealer performed a test on the vehicle which determined that the ABS valve did not need to be replaced. The valve was flushed, and the vehicle was returned to the contact. A few months after the service, the failure returned without warning. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair was a one-time free repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
RECEIVED A "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" ALONG WITH "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" ERROR DURING THE MIDDLE OF A LONG DRIVE. LUCKILY I HAD ENOUGH STRENGTH TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK HOME, BUT AS I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY, THE STEERING COLUMN HAD LOCKED COMPLETELY. I HAVE NO WAY TO TURN THIS CAR. THE SAME ERRORS ARE SHOWING UP, ALONG WITH "TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT." I WAS LUCKY TO GET THIS THING BACK SEMI-SAFELY. IF THE STEERING HAD LOCKED AT 70 MPH, I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH IN TRAFFIC, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MERGE INTO A CONTINUING LANE BUT HER BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLICE OFFICER DUE TO THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT LINKED HER FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); HOWEVER HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND WAS DEEMED TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, RECEIVED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ALARM AND STEERING FAILED TO A "MANUAL" MODE. THE WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THIS OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC. RESEARCH HAS IDENTIFIED RECALLS ON THE 2011 AND 2012 EPS(ELECTRIC/ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING), BUT NOT THE 2010 FUSION. MY FUSION ONLY HAS 96,000 MILES ON IT. THIS WILL BE A COSTLY OUT OF POCKET REPAIR FOR A SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN ON OTHER VEHICLES.

TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND FAULT DISAPPEARED UNTIL DROVE FOR APROX TWO MINS AND THEN POWER STEERING FAILEDMID CORNER AT INTERSECTION. STEERING EXTREMELY UNSAFE AT LOW SPEEDS. ESC LIGHT IS SOLID AND ON SOME IGNITIONS SWITCH ON'S THE "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" ALSO APPEARS WITH RED (!) LIGHT ON RIGHT-HAND SIDE AND YELLOW ABS LIGHT SOLID. 82732 MI.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY, SUDDENLY ALL BRAKE RELATED WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND I LOST BRAKE PRESSURE (PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR) AND I COASTED ALMOST TO THE OPPOSITE CURB BEFORE PRESSING HARD ENOUGH TO STOP. I TOWED VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN ABS MODULE FAILURE, AND THAT THERE WAS CURRENTLY NO RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, she noticed that the brake pedal needed to be depressed all the way to the floor for the vehicle to stop. The dealer and another dealer, Apple Ford of York (1801 Whiteford Rd, York, PA 17402) were made aware of the recall notice and failure but was informed by both dealers that part was not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
2010 FORD FUSION. NO ISSUE WITH BRAKES UNTIL 12/18/20. PARKING IN SNOW SLUSH ABS SYSTEM BRIEFLY ENGAGED, SINCE EXACTLY THAT EVENT THE BRAKE PEDAL SINKS TO FLOOR UNDER FOOT PRESSURE, REQUIRED PUMPING TO GET FULL STOP. NO ISSUE WITH MASTER CYLINDER, FLUID LEVEL, OR BRAKE CYLINDERS, PEDAL FIRM WITH ENGINE OFF, NO LEAKING IN ANY CONDITION, PEDAL RETURNS TO FULL UP POSITION AFTER RELEASE OF FOOT PRESSURE. SYMPTOMS IDENTICAL TO THOSE DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 19V904000. HAS CAUSED 'HEART ATTACK' BRAKE PUMPING TO STOP WITHOUT HITTING CARS IN LOCAL TRAFFIC. SYMPTOMS PRESENT AT ANY SPEED.
AFTER THE ABS ACTIVATES (E.G., ON AN ICY ROAD), THE BRAKE PEDAL THEN GOES ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ON SUBSEQUENT BRAKE APPLICATIONS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FOR VALVES NOT CLOSING FOR 2010 FUSIONS, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, IT SEEMS THAT MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT A COUPLE OF ODD TIMES THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF A FEW WEEKS IT ENDED UP COMING BACK ON AND OFF BUT IS NOW COMPLETELY OFF.... POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR, WOULD INTERMITTENTLY APPEAR. A RESTART OF MY CAR WOULD CLEAR IT. THE OTHER NIGHT, AFTER STARTING THE CAR WHEN IT WAS PARKED, IT APPEARED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME IT DIDN'T CLEAR WITH SHUTTING THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTING IT, THEN ANOTHER MESSAGE APPEARED ABOUT SERVICING THE ADVANCED TRAC APPEARED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME IN MANUAL MODE, AND THERE IT SITS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ERROR, IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.

WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE BRAKE MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. HALEY FORD RICHMOND LOCATED AT 10724 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, RICHMOND VA 23237 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.

ON DECEMBER 1ST I WAS DRIVING MY FORD FUSION 2 THE ACTUAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET A LOOK AT THEIR FIELD SERVICE ACTION THAT THEY HAD POSTED ON MY FORD APP. WHILE ON MY WAY I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON COLUMBIA DRIVE IN PORTLAND OREGON AND I HAD THOUGHT MY FOOT SLIPPED OFF THE BRAKE INITIALLY BUT ACTUALLY WOULD HAPPEN IF MY CAR HAD ACCELERATED AND TO THE GENTLEMAN IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING A CAR ACCIDENT. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT I TRIED TO CONTACT FORD THE DEALERSHIP THAT I NORMALLY GO TO TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPAIR THE FRONT-END OF MY FORD FUSION THAT WAS DEMOLISHED AND ALSO NO AIRBAGS WENT OFF AS I HAD JUST GOT MY CAR OUT OF THE SHOP AT FORD FOR A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS MY FIANCE WAS WITH ME SO THERE WAS DEFINITELY CAUSE FOR CONCERN FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS HURT BUT LIKE I SAID MY CAR WAS DEMOLISHED ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE FRONT END I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY MY CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN SO LOOKING INTO IT THE EXPLANATION THAT I CAME UP WITH WAS DEFINITELY THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY MOTOR AND ALL I WANT IS MY CAR RETURNED BACK TO ITS PRIOR CONDITION I HAVE NO OTHER VEHICLE I DON'T KNOW WHO TO CONTACT I DID CONTACT FORD AND WAS REFERRED TO A BIGGER FORD COMPANY IF SOMEONE COULD HELP THAT WOULD BE AMAZING I'D APPRECIATE IT... ALSO NO WARNINGS OR SENSORS WENT OFF IN MY VEHICLE I DO HAVE THE SEL PACKAGE AND ONCE AGAIN NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED AND FOR THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE I WAS VERY SURPRISED
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the power steering default warning light would illuminate. In order to turn off the warning light, the contact had to turn off and then restart the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently however, the failure persisted with the power steering assist default warning light remaining illuminated, with the service advancetrac and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that there was an internal failure in the power steering module. The contact was informed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

WHILE DRIVING, THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING SOON" NOTICE CAME ON THE DASH. MY HUSBAND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. WE WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. THE DASH THEN SAID "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. HE WAS ABLE TO GET US HOME BY GOING SLOWLY AND AVOIDING ROADS WITH SHARP TURNS. AT THE SAME TIME THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT ENGAGE, THE ENGINE BEGAN ACTING STRANGE TOO. IT WOULD REV UP HIGH UNLESS YOUR FOOT WAS ACTIVELY PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL OR IF YOU WERE GOING SLOW ENOUGH (20 MPH) FOR THE EV MODE TO OVERRIDE THE GAS ENGINE. IF I WAS ALONE IN THE VEHICLE, I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IN AN ACCIDENT AS I AM NOT PHYSICALLY STRONG ENOUGH TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. THE CAR IS NOW SITTING OUTSIDE MY HOME, WAITING TO BE TAKEN TO THE SHOP.
WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING AS MY WIFE AND I WERE LEAVING THE PARKING LOT OF OUR HOTEL. IT HAS BEEN WORKING FINE FOR 3 HOURS PRIOR TO THAT. LUCKILY SHE WAS DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED AND IT WAS NOT IN A TURN OR AT HIGH SPEEDS LIKE IT SOUNDS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. SIMILAR REPORTS SHOW THIS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WAS RECALLED IN 2011+ MODELS BUT 2010 WAS EXCLUDED, HOWEVER IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED, CLOSED, THEN RE-OPENED. FUSES ARE ALL GOOD. OTHER SYSTEMS ARE ALL GOOD, JUST RANDOMLY POPS UP WITH "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND POWER STEERING THEN SHUTS OFF. **VEHICLE CAN STILL BE DRIVEN BUT THERE IS NOT POWER STEERING SO IT'S JUST A LITTLE MORE MUSCLE NEEDED TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
THE BRAKES STOP WORKING, OR AT LEAST THE POWER PART DID. THE ABS AND OTHER BRAKE-SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD. I COULD GET THE VEHICLE TO BRAKE ONLY BY PUSHING THE PEDAL AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO. IT WAS SIMILAR IN FEEL TO A CAR WITH NO POWER. I DOUBT THIS THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO STOP ME IN TIME HAD I BEEN GOING OVER 30 MPH OR TRYING TO NAVIGATE A CURVE. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART IT FOR IT TO CLEAR. TURNED ENGINE OFF. RESTARTED AND AGAIN AFTER DRIVING 30 FEET DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, HIT BRAKE AND AGAIN DID NOT WORK SINKING TO FLOOR. ROLLED TO STOP AFTER ABOUT 30 FEET. TOWED TO MECHANIC. MECHANIC INVESTIGATED AND NEEDED TO REPLACE ABS CONTROL MODULE. MECHANIC CHECKED FOR ANY OUTSTANDING RECALLS AND NONE NOTED BUT HE FELT THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
RUNNING MOVING FORWARD BRAKES WENT TO FLOOR. REPLACED ALL BRAKE PADS, BRAKE CALIPERS, FRONT ROTORS AND MASTER CYLINDER. ENGINE OFF IT HAS PERFECT BRAKE PEDAL. RUNNING IT GOES TO FLOOR . IT IS THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND HAS 78,000 MILES ON IT. IT DOES NOT FALL INTO RECALL MANUFACTURING DATE IT SHOULD.IT STARTED IN MORNING AFTER PULLING OUT ON STREET COMING TO FIRST STOP SIGN.

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE STORE AN ERROR MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED INDICATING THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE SERVICED "NOW". THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED IN MAR OF 2017 WHEN I FILED A COMPLAINT (NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10959746). I HAD THE MATTER REPAIRED AT MY COST AS THIS MODEL YEAR WAS NOT PART OF THE FORD RECALL. (ONLY 2011 AND 2012 MODEL YEARS WERE RECALLED). 3.5 YEARS LATER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE EPAS MOTOR MOUNTED. ONCE AGAIN, I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT $2500 TO REPAIR A PART THAT IS NOT FUNCTIONING AFTER 3.5 YEARS AND 40K MILES OF WEAR. THIS REPRESENTS A SERIOUS FLAW IN THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. ON THE RACK.
