TAKATA RECALL WHEN WILL A REMEDY BE AVAILABLE? IT'S BEEN MORE THAN 16 MONTHS SINCE THIS ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED. FORTUNATELY, NOTHING HAS HAPPENED WITH MY CAR, YET!
TAKATA INFLATORS - I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL JULY 2016. IT IS NOW OCTOBER 2017 AND I AM BEING TOLD PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I AM WONDERING WHEN THESE PARTS ARE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL - AIRBAGS HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED OR REPLACED YET. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING AROUND WITH THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION ESPECIALLY LIVING IN CENTRAL FLORIDA WITH DAILY TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S AND INTERIOR VEHICLE TEMPERATURES REACH 110 AT TIMES.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME ANSWER, "NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE "ADVANCE TRAC" AND "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTY" WARNING MESSAGES DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE SERPENTINE BELT, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE LOCAL DEALER (JACK SCHMITT FORD LINCOLN LOCATED IN COLLINSVILLE, IL) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I HIT A POLE ON THE HIGHWAY. BROKE MY MIRROR. NO OTHER DAMAGE. TOOK MY CAR TO FORD AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT I HAVE 2 WRONG SIZE TIRES ON MY CAR AND THAT IS THE REASON WHY MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAVE RECEIPTS FROM FIRESTONE STATING THAT THEY PUT THE CORRECT TIRES ON MY CAR. FORD IS TELLING ME THAT THEY PUT ON THE WRONG SIZE. MY RACK AND PINION IS FAULTY. NOT MY TIRES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT MULTIPLE DEALERS, INCLUDING BOB-BOYD LINCOLN OF COLUMBUS (2445 BILLINGSLEY RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43235 (614) 863-2800) WERE CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A CAR LOT IT WAS SAID THAT IT WAS INSPECTED AND READY. ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE (2) MOTOR MOUNTS AND (1) TRANSMISSION MOUNT. WAS HAVING A VIBRATION FROM CAR, RUNNING, IN GEAR, AT STOPS, HOLDING BRAKE.
I'M WRITING TO INQUIRE ABOUT NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA17004. THIS INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE NOVEMBER 2017. AND BEFORE THIS INVESTIGATION THERE WAS A "PRELIMINARY" INVESTIGATION DATING BACK TO SEPTEMBER 2016. PRIOR TO THIS THERE WAS AN ORIGINAL INVESTIGATION BACK IN 2014 FOR THE EXACT COMPLAINT DESCRIBED WHICH INITIATED A RECALL FOR 2011 AND 2012 MODELS BUT CONVENIENTLY EXCLUDED THE 2010 MODEL. IS FORDS PLAY TO JUST WAIT FOR AS MANY OF THESE 2010S AS POSSIBLE TO BE OFF THE ROAD AND IN THE SCRAP HEAP BEFORE THEY HAVE TO SPEND MONEY ON FIXING THIS? I THINK ITS TIME TO MAKE A DECISION AT THIS POINT, RECALL OR NOT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, THIS ORIGINATED IN 2014.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WHILE DRIVING AND UPON START COMPLETELY LOCKING UP THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKES KEEP LOCKING WHILE DRIVING FOR NO REASON CAUSING THE CAR TO DRAG, SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. BRAKES HAVE BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AND CALIPERS CHANGES WITH SAME RESULTS
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 30-40 MPH ON CITY STREETS WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" LIGHT CAME ON. STEERING THE CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT AT THAT TIME AND I HAD TO PULL INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR STEERING WHEEL TO DRIVE IT.
POWER STEERING FAULT
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND TRACTION FAULT AT 125,000 MILES. POWER STEERING FAILED AND CAR COULD BARELY BE STEERED. DANGEROUS CONDITION. ENTIRE ASSIST PART NEEDED REPLACEMENT FOR $1600. UNACCEPTABLE. TURNING ON THE STREET, ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT.
POWER STEERING ASSIST WILL QUIT AT ANY TIME. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON ROADWAYS WITH 60+ MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. FORD IS RECALLING THE 2011 -2013 MODELS AND OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT WILL NOT INSURE OUR SAFETY IN A CAR THAT HAS ONLY 113,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM PRESENTS ITSELF UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS I.E. STARTUP IN THE GARAGE, LOW SPEED TOWN DRIVING, AND INTERSTATE SPEEDS. THIS LAST OCCURANCE HAS ALSO CAUSED A FAULT IN THE ELECTRONIC SWAY CONTROL.
STARTED THE CAR AND STARTED BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHEN POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT OUT. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AFTER IT STOPPED STEERING. PARKED THE CAR WAITING ON A RETURN CALL FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING SEIZED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN 45 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT- THIS WARNING OCCURS RANDOMLY AND THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR. OFTEN I CAN REMEDY THE ISSUE BY RESTARTING THE CAR, BUT IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY AND RESTARTING THE CAR WON'T FIX IT. I'VE READ MANY ACCOUNTS OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING AND REPRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD. TIME TO ISSUE A RECALL ON 2010 MODELS AS FORD HAS FOR OTHER MODELS.
SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW CAME ON AND ALL POWER ASSISTED STEERING WAS LOST, NO WARNING, FUNNY HOW THEY RECALLED 2011 MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT 2010, VERY DANGEROUS, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN HAPPENED
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE CAR
THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE FAULT SIGN ON MY CAR AND VERY HARD TO FIX IT. THEY HAVE TO INFORM THE TRAVELING PUBLIC BEFORE BIG SAFETY ISSUE CREATED.
SPONGY BRAKES. INCONSISTENT AND INTERMITTENT BRAKING. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR PURGE VALVE RECALL (THE VALVE WAS MERELY INSPECTED BUT NOT REPLACED). AFTERWARDS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. BUMPS IN THE HIGHWAY WOULD CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO ON OR OFF. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SELL THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER, THIS SAME PURGE VALVE INVOLVED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL BECAME STUCK OPEN. FORD WAS NOT WILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEMATIC PURGE VALVE FREE OF CHARGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO REVERSE, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING BECAME STIFF AND REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (CLASSIC FORD LINCOLN, 8540 TYLER BLVD, MENTOR, OH 44060) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE TRACTION ASSIST AND OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING CONTROL FAILURE, AND THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE DEALER (KUNES COUNTRY FORD LINCOLN OF DELAVAN, 1234 GENEVA ST, DELAVAN, WI 53115, (262) 427-1323) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
POWER STEERING. I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR ONLY 7 MONTHS WHEN THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPEN . IT HAD AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF ME HAVING MY CAR WHEN THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. CAME O I DID LET THE DEALERSHIP KNOW AND ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS I HAD PUSH A BUTTON. WELL IT DID GO OFF UNTIL A BOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN IT CAME BACK AS I WAS DRIVING AND ALSO THAT'S WHEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. I THEN AGAIN TOLD THEM. WELL SINCE THEN I'M STILL TRYING TO GET IT FIX ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER MAJOR RECALLS THAT ARE ON MY CAR. I DID TELL THEM ABOUT IT AND ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY CAR. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING. FORD DOES NEED TO DO A RECALL ON THE 2010 FORD FUSION.
IT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THAT IN MANY IF NOT ALL FMC 4 DOOR SEDAN HYBRIDS WITH THE 2.5 LITER ENGINE AND NICKLE METAL HYDRIDE BATTERIES, OEM SOFTWARE STARTS TO DRASTICALLY REDUCE ELECTRIC VEHICLE OPERATION SOMETIME AFTER THE HYBRID WARRANTY EXPIRES. THE EFFECT OF THIS IS THE CAR'S ACCELERATION AND FUEL EFFICIENCY IS DRASTICALLY REDUCED AND AUTOMATIC PERIODIC BATTERY RE-CONDITIONING CEASES. THE CAR ESSENTIALLY CEASES TO FUNCTION AS A HYBRID AND THE ENGINE RUNS ALL THE TIME EXCEPT WHEN AT A STANDSTILL. UP TO 70,000 VEHICLES MAY BE AFFECTED. IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT THIS ID CONTROLLED BY A BATTERY AGE FEATURE IN THE SOFTWARE. RESETTING THIS AGE TO ANY LOWER VALUE RESTORES COMPLETELY NORMAL HYBRID BEHAVIOR AND PERFORMANCE. FMC HAS REFUSED TO DO THIS INSTEAD QUOTING BATTERY REPLACEMENT FOR $8,000 AS THE SOLUTION. D.O. E. TESTS MANY YEARS AGO SHOWED ROBUST PERFORMANCE OF THE BATTERY OUT TO 160,000 MILES IN ACCELERATED TESTING. THE FIX IS A TEN MINUTE SOFTWARE BATTERY AGE CHANGE THAT FMC REFUSES TO DO. THE REDUCED ACCELERATION IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE ATKINSON CYCLE ENGINE WAS NOT DESIGNED TO BE UNASSISTED BY THE BATTERY AND HAS VERY SLOW POWER ACCELERATION WITHOUT IT.
TAKATA RECALL: FORD STILL DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR AIR BAG PROBLEM. WILL THIS BE RESOLVED SOON?
FOLLOWING A BRAKING EVENT THAT ENGAGED THE ABS SYSTEM, THE BRAKES FELT SOFT OR SPONGY. AFTER DEPRESSING THE PEDAL FULLY A FEW TIMES, THE ISSUE SEEMED TO RESOLVE. ANOTHER ABS EVENT OCCURRED A FEW WEEKS AGO, AND THIS TIME DEPRESSING THE PEDAL DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE SOFT BRAKE FEELING HAS PERSISTED FOR WEEKS. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE IS INITIALLY A SMALL AND BRIEF DECELERATION OF THE CAR, FOLLOWED BY AT LEAST 1 INCH OF BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO CAUSE ANY FURTHER BRAKING. FINALLY, WHEN THE PEDAL IS ALMOST FULLY DEPRESSED, THE BRAKES ENGAGE AND THE CAR DECELERATES. THE RESISTANCE FELT IN THE DURING THE TRAVEL OF THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS TO CHANGE AS THE CAR WARMS UP, OR AS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE CHANGES. THE RESULT IS THAT BRAKES FEEL UNRELIABLE AND UNPREDICTABLE EVERY TIME THEY ENGAGE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROBLEM BEING INVESTIGATED AS A PART OF NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE16017.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THEN STEERING FAILED AT LOS SPEED. TOWED TO DEALER. POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY REPLACED FOR $2149.36. 10 DAYS LATER IT FAILED AGAIN
WHILE DAUGHTER DRIVING, POWER STEERING FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. VEHICLE DISPLAYED POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK. SHE WAS ABLE TO CLEAR BY TURNING CAR OFF AND BACK ON. IT HAS NOW COMPLETELY FAILED AND DISPLAY STAYS ON PERMANENTLY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD.
TAKATA RECALLS - I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR SENSOR CAME ON SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. I DIDN'T THINK NOTHING OF IT. SO THE NEXT DAY TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD TURN AT ALL. I HAD TO GET TOWING SERVICES. I CALL FORD ABOUT IT THEY TOLD ME IN CUSTOMER NO PARTS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. THE COMPANY IS IN BANKRUPT . THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN TO GET IT IN. WHEN THEY DO THEY WILL NOTIFY ME
POWER STEERING FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR WHILE DAUGHTER DRIVING ON HIGHWAY BETWEEN 60 - 70 MPH. DISPLAY WAS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART CAR TO CLEAR AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY. POWER STEERING FAILED FOR THE LAST TIME SEPT 27, 2017 AND CANNOT BE RESET. MILEAGE IS CLOSE TO 114,000 NOW. I "MUSCLED" THE CAR TO THE FORD HOUSE ON SEPTEMBER 30 FOR DIAGNOSIS. CODES FORD PULLED ARE C200D:49 AND U3000:96. FORD RECOMMENDED "REPLACE STEERING GEAR (INTERNAL FAILURE) AND 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT AFTER REPLACEMENT". COST ROUGHLY $1825.00 PLUS TAX. I DECLINED SERVICE AND I NOW HAVE A 7 YEAR OLD CAR I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON SITTING MY DRIVEWAY. SOME "GREAT FIRST CAR" FOR MY COLLEGE STUDENT. SEEMS LIKE THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE SAFETY RECALL I READ ABOUT ON HERE. I HAVE A 1997 FORD TRUCK WITH 315,000 MILES ON IT - I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD AND THE POWER STEERING HAS NEVER ONCE FAILED IN THAT AMOUNT OF MILEAGE / YEARS.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE AND SOMETHING SNAPPED AND I WAS TRAPPED IN MY CAR UNTIL I FIGURED OUT THAT I COULD ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE WHEN IT HAPPENED.
MY VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. FIRST, I WAS IN A PARKING LOT. I STARTED THE VEHICLE, PLACED IT IN REVERSE, AND BEGIN TO BACK OUT OF MY SPOT WHEN THE WHEEL FELT HEAVY ALL THE SUDDEN AND THE CHIMES STARTED GOING OFF. IN MY MESSAGE CENTER IT SAID "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT SEEMED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE; HOWEVER, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO GET IT SERVICED ANYWAYS. THE DEALER SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AN ISSUE CHARGED ME $130 AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. JUST 5 DAYS LATER, WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR, MY STEERING FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN ON A BUSY STREET AND AT THE EXACT MOMENT THAT I WAS TURNING INTO AN ENTRANCE TO OUR DENTIST OFFICE! I MANAGED TO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, AGAIN STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED IT OFF AND AGAIN RESTARTED IT. AS BEFORE, THE STEERING SEEMS TO HAVE RESET ITSELF. I'M SEEING A LARGE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT ISSUE ONLINE AND IT SEEMS A RECALL WAS DONE FOR NEWER MODELS, BUT NOT FOR 2010. THIS IS UNSAFE.
MY CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING HAD AN ISSUE WHERE IT DECELERATED ON ITS OWN AND THERE WAS NO GAS PEDAL....THROWING A THROTTLE ACTUATOR CCONTROL SYSTEM CODE SAYING WAS STUCK OPEN...THIS HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE TIMES NOW BUT CODE CLEARED BEFORE COULD LOOK AT...TOOK TO LES STUMPF FORD THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING TIL THE CODE STASYS ON FOR THERM TO TEST....SO I AM SUPPOSED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR A KNOWN PROOBLEM THAT THE COMPANY WAS SUED ABOUT AND CREATED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION EXTENDED WARRANTY INSTEAD OF RECALLING IT UNTIL IT DOES IT AGAIN....AND I AM AT ABOUT 142000 AND ONLY COVERS TIL 150000
POWER STEERING ASSIST LOCK FAILED FOUR TIMES UPON START.I HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICE SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO WORK. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT COULD LOCK UP AT ANY TIME, EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I DECIDED IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I HAD TO SPEND $1500 TO REPAIR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE 2010 FUSIONS AND THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THE OF LATER YEAR MODELS 'RECALL #15V340000 I CAN'T IMAGINE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND HAVING THE POWER STEERING FAIL.

I STARTED MY CAR AND A WARNING LIGHT WAS ON FOR THE POWER STEERING AND I COULD HARDLY TURN THE WHEEL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE CAR WAS BACK TO NORMAL. I AM SCARED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AS I HAVE READ MANY STORIES OF THAT HAPPENING. I DO NOT KNOW WHY FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE
ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) FAILURE ON MY 2010 FORD FUSION. ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY SLUGGISH TURNING AT ABOUT 12 MPH, AND REQUIRED BRUTE STRENGTH TO OVERCOME (MORE THAN MY NON-POWER-STEERING CAR I'VE DRIVEN, WHERE ANY MOVEMENT ABOVE 5 MPH EASES STEERING TORQUE). WHILE DRIVING AT DORCHESTER RD. HEADING TO LADSON, SC, THE STEERING WAS FINE MOMENTS BEFORE THEN JUST SUDDENLY FAILED. GOOD THING THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AT THE HIGHER SPEED OF 50 MPH POSTED FOR DORCHESTER RD. I STRUGGLED TO GET THE CAR HOME, AND THERE IT SITS. I'VE READ A RECALL FOR 2011 FUSIONS, BUT IS THERE A REASON THIS YEAR FUSION NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. OTHER OLDER FORDS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER PICKING UP MY 9YR OLD FROM SCHOOL,WHEN VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP,I HAD TO SWERVE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING THEM AND HIT MY BRAKES"AT THIS POINT MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC I HAD TO RESTART IT THEN DROVE ABOUT 10 MILES WHEN MY CAR STARTED CHIMMING AND THE SERVICE POWER STEARING NOW AND ADVANCE TRACK CONTROL WARNINGS CAME ON I HAD NO CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL IT WAS LOCKED I MANAGED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH EXTREME EFFORT I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO BREAK SOMETHING TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL JUST SLITELY TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD CAR HAD TO BE TOWED IT UNDRIVABLE AND COMPLETELY UNSAFE MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.FORD HAS RECALLED THESE CARS FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN 2011 AND BEYOND WHY IF THEY HAVE THE SAME EXACT FUNCTION AND PARTS NOT RECALLING THESE 1500$ TO FIX THAT I DON'T HAVE,IVE TAKING GREAT CARE OF THIS VEHICLE BUT HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS THE SAME DAY THIS HAPPENED I RECEIVED A FACTORY RECALL FOR THE PURGE CANISTER AND GAS TANK,THE CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT WAS BURNING UP CALIPERS WHEELS WERE COMING LOOSE BREAK PADS SHEARING OFF AND ROTOR AFTER ROTOR PAD AFTER PAD AND 3 CALIPERS AND A BATTERY LATER BECAUSE BREAK FLUID SHOT OUT OF MY RESERVOIR ONTO MY BATTERY SHORTING IT OUT CONDUCTING A STRAIGHT FEED FROM POS TO NEG.NOW THIS THIS IS SO DANGEROUS IF I WAS A LESS EXSPERIANCED DRIVER THIS COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC!!!IS THAT REALLY WHAT IT TAKES FOR THIS BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE I MEAN WE ALREADY PAYED FOR THE VEHICLE LEAST THEY CAN DO IS FIX THE PROBLEMS THEY NO HAVE EXISTED FOR ALONG TIME BEFORE PEOPLE DIE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. MULTIPLE MESSAGES AND UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, INCLUDING "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "SERVICE BRAKES". THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
EVERY TIME THIS VEHICLE HAS THE TIRES ROTATED THERE IS A BROKEN FRONT RIGHT SIDE WHEEL LUG. TWICE IT HAS HAPPENED AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER,WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED IN 2012 AND 2 WHEEL LUGS ON THE REAR WERE REPLACED. THE TIRE SHOP REFUSES TO ROTATE THE TIRES UNLESS I REPLACE ALL THE ORIGINAL FORD CAPPED WHEEL NUTS. THIS IS A FORD PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN FOR SOME TIME IT IS TIME THAT SOME TYPE OF ACTION IS TAKEN'
THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING FOR UNEXPECTED LUNGING AND STALLING OUT DURING ACCELERATION. HAPPENS AT VERY UNPREDICTABLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES AT A COST OF APROX. $180
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING STATING, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" I THEN IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER STEERING AND LUCKILY WAS GOING STRAIGHT SO MUSCLING THE STEERING WASN'T OVERLY DIFFICULT. GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. 5 DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT NOW RESTARTING THE CAR DOESN'T GET THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY. POWER STEERING ISN'T WORKING ON THE CAR AT ALL. WHEN I START THE CAR THE INFO SCREEN READS: POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTS APPEARS. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL, THEN AN ALARM SOUNDS AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR SERVICE ADVANCETRAC APPEARS AND STEERING GETS SLIGHTLY EASIER BUT POWER STEERING IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING. VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR NOW BUT I HAVE TO GET TO WORK AND DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED.
