MEANWHILE, I AND MY FAMILY ARE USING THE VEHICLE FULLY KNOWING WE MAY BE INJURED IN CASE OF AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. WHEN WILL THIS SITUATION BE REMEDIED?

TAMARA RECALL. FAILED TO REPAIR DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. I WANT TO RECEIVE INFO ON RECALL. CAN'T CHECK BOX BELOW.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE MESSAGE APPEARED IN GAUGE CONSOLE AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. THE ISSUE WAS NOT ISOLATED TO DRIVING ANY SPEED AS IT WOULD GO OUT AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL IN OR BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. FOR AWHILE IT WOULD CLEAR BY PULLING OVER AND POWERING CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. THE MESSAGE NOW STAYS ON ALWAYS AND STEERING CAR IS VEY DIFFICULT. NOW IT ALSO SAYS AN ISSUE WITH ADVANCETRACK AS WELL. MY MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME I NEED NEW RACK AND PINION, TIE RODS, AND AN ALIGNMENT TO FIX ISSUE. I SEE AN OPEN INVESTIGATION AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER 2010 FORD FUSION OWNERS SO I WANTED TO ADD MY VOICE TO THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
ONE DAY I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO OUT AND THE WARNING POPPED UP SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND POWER STEERING FAILURE. I TURNED MY CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS FIXED. THE NEXT DAY IT POPPED UP WITH THE SAME THINGS, BUT THIS TIME TURNING IT OFF DID NOT FIX THE POWER STEERING. IT HAS LEFT ME UNABLE TO USE MY CAR FOR A WHILE, BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT. THANK GOSH THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I READ MANY STORIES ABOUT IT HAPPENING WHILE OTHERS WHERE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED. THE ABILITY TO STEER BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER. AIRBAG LIGHT ISSUE LIGHT WAS WAS ON WHEN STARTED VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEAL AND THE ERROR CODE WAS B0020-13. ISSUE WAS INTERMITTENT CONNECTION UNDER DRIVER'S SEAT IN THE AIR BAG HARNESS.
ON MAY 25, 2017 I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT OVER A SPEED BUMP AND ROUNDED A BUILDING PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. FROM THE SPEED BUMP TO THE PARKING SPACE THE SLOW SPEED IS PERFECT FOR PULLING IN THE SPACE. I WAS BRAKING TO A STOP WHEN MY CAR LURCHED FORWARD ONLY STOPPING WHEN IT STRUCK THE BUILDING. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME, AS WITNESSED BY MY PASSENGER. I'M 4'10" TALL AND UNLIKE PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I HAVE TO STRETCH TO REACH THE ACCELERATOR - SO THERE IS NO MISTAKING THE TWO. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAD EVER EXPERIENCED A LURCHING ACTION IN OUR FUSION. WE HAD EXPERIENCED THIS ACTION IN OUR FREESTYLE AND HAVE MANAGED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM IN THAT VEHICLE, BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME TIME IT HAPPENED IN THE FUSION. THE PREVIOUS OWNER MENTIONED A RARE TRANSMISSION "HICCUP" HIS MECHANIC COULD NEVER FIND. WE HAD BEEN DRIVING THE FUSION SINCE OCTOBER 2016 AND IT DROVE BEAUTIFULLY.
POWER STEERING FAILED AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, BUT THE POWER STEERING FAILED.
VEHICLE SHOWED INTERMITTENT "SERVICE ADVANCETRAK" LIGHT AND WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO INTO FULL ABS MODE AT LOW SPEED ON SMOOTH, DRY PAVEMENT. THE ABS PART OF THE PROBLEM CAUSED US TO MISS SEVERAL TURNS FOR LACK OF EFFECTIVE BRAKING AND, AT LEAST ONCE, TO END UP FOUR FEET PAST A STOP SIGN AND INTO THE CROSSING LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE L/R ABS SENSOR TWICE BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED 9 MONTHS AND THEN 3 MONTHS LATER. THE THIRD TIME, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP WHERE I WAS ABLE TO PERSONALLY OBSERVE THE FINAL AND CORRECT DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR OF THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS A BUILDUP OF RUST AND SCALE ON THE SENSOR MOUNTING POINT WHICH HAD GRADUALLY FORCED THE PLASTIC SENSOR FURTHER AND FURTHER FROM NOTCHED SENDER WHEEL UNTIL, EVENTUALLY, THE SENSOR BECAME INTERMITTENT. THE COMPUTER APPARENTLY INTERPRETED THIS AS A LOCKED WHEEL AND THEN WENT INTO FULL ABS MODE. THAT'S WHAT THE REAL MECHANIC SAID, ANYWAY, AND HIS REPAIR HAS WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT FOUR MONTHS NOW (THE R/H SENSOR ALSO WENT INTERMITTENT FOR THE SAME REASON ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND WAS ALSO SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED BY CLEANING UP THE MOUNT AND REINSTALLING THE ORIGINAL 2010 SENSOR). THE FORD DEALER'S MECHANIC APPARENTLY NEVER CLEANED UP THE SURFACE OF THE MOUNT ON EITHER OF HIS REPAIRS. JUST TORQUING DOWN THE NEW SENSOR WAS EVIDENTLY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORK FOR A WHILE. THIS WOULD NOT BE WORTH BOTHERING YOU OVER BUT FOR THE RANDOM ABS PART WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED US TO BE IN A PRETTY SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION (THE STOP SIGN!). I DID NOT OBSERVE ANY OBVIOUS PATTERN OR RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LIGHT COMING ON AND/OR THE ABS MALFUNCTION. RUST IS A COMMON PROBLEM HERE IN THE NORTHEAST. THE MECHANIC WHO SOLVED THE PROBLEM SAID HE HAS RUN INTO SIMILAR ISSUES WITH OTHER CARS. IT MIGHT BE WORTH AT LEAST A SERVICE BULLETIN.

VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. TURNING SLIGHTLY TO ENTER TRAFFIC AND THE WHEEL STOPPED TURNING. INFORMATION ON DASH PANEL APPEARED AFTER LOSS OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HIT THE CURB AND CAME TO A STOP. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT YET GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE ON RAMP. VEHICLE SAYS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE ACCELERATING. THE TRANSMISSION AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,820.
POWER STEERING SPORADICALLY STOPS WORKING, THANKFULLY THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED IN MY DRIVE WAY AND SUBSEQUENT RESTART OF THE CAR SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THEIR IS A RECALL ON 2011 FUSIONS, THIS NEEDS TO COVER 2010 AS WELL.
BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON..POWER STEERING FAULT ASSIST. I TURNED THE CAR OFF THINKING I HAVE TO MAKE A CALL TO BE TOWED. WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON I COULDN'T STEER IT. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF. DROVE APPROX. 2 MILES TO MY RESIDENCE. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT WAS DETERMINED DTC'S V300049-INTERNAL ELECTRIC FAILURE V300072-ACUATOR STUCK OPEN. BECAUSE IT WASN'T PRESENTING AT THE TIME OF THE TEST WAS TOLD...IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO GET A POWER STEERING RACK. EST. $1663.46. FORD ALSO CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND INFORMED ME THAT IF IT WAS A 2011 IT WOULD BE COVERED BY RECALL. I'M VERY UNEASY ABOUT DRIVING UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AS I FEEL THIS PROBLEM COULD RESULT IN A ACCIDENT WHICH COULD VERY EASILY RESULT IN PERSON INJURY OR DEATH!!! I'M SHOCKED THAT FORD DIDN'T INCLUDE THE 2010'S IN THIS RECALL!!! I INTEND TO SEEK A LEGAL COUNCIL WITH THE ISSUE.

DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN WE LOST ALL POWER STEERING ALMOST HITTING CAR BY NOT BEEN ABLE TO TURN.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE NOTIFICATION. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR IN MY GARAGE, THE POWER STEERING WOULDN'T WORK AND I GOT THE ABOVE MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD AND AN ALARM. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR, AND THE POWER STEERING WENT TO NORMAL. I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS BEEN A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, BUT CAN'T FIND OUT IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED. WARNING LIGHTS SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, SERVICE POWER STEERING. PULLING RIGHT ONTO CITY STREET, LIGHT TRAFFIC. EXTREME DIFFICULTY MANEUVERING CAR. TROUBLE STAYING IN LANE.
JUST PAID $1658.00 FOR THE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE RACK & PINION IN OUR 2010 FORD FUSION DUE TO AN INHERENT DEFECT OF THE STEERING SYSTEM THAT OCCURS AROUND 90,0000 -100,000 MILES.
COMPLETE POWER STEERING LOSS WARNING CAME ON AFTER INDICATING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHILE TURNING.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN THE HIGH WAY. ALL THE SUDDEN THE POWER STEERING WHEEL WENT OUT. ALMOST CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT WITH AND 18 WHEELER. WE WERE EXTREMELY SCARE MY TWO CHILDREN AND I. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!
I CONTINUE TO GET MESSAGES INDICATING THAT MY POWER STEERING ASSIST IS NOT WORKING. AFTER CONDUCTING SOME RESEARCH, IT APPEARS I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT IS HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH MY 2010 FUSION. IF I WAS DRIVING AND THIS SYSTEM WAS TO FAIL, IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT I COULD HAVE A BAD CRASH BECAUSE THE ABILITY TO STEER THE CAR IS FOR THE MOST PART GONE. EVIDENTLY THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT OTHERS FELT SHOULD'VE BEEN A SAFETY RECALL AS WELL.

THE LOCAL DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VIN CONCERNING THE STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CONFIRMED THE DEALER'S INFORMATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 215,000.

I HAVE OBSERVED SEVERAL POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTS ON THE VEHICLE, USUALLY RESOLVED BY RESTARTING THE CAR. TONIGHT, HOWEVER, RESTARTING IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION AT THE TIME. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER STEERING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
TAKATA RECALL. THE RECALL DATE FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS JUNE 2016 AND IT HAS NOW BEEN NEARLY A YEAR AND FORD STILL HAS "NO REMEDY" FOR THIS RECALL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION, I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL OR THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE THAT MY CAR ALSO HAS BUT NOW IS PAST THE "EXTENDED WARRANTY" AND THEY WILL NOT FIX FOR FREE, DESPITE ME HAVING MADE A COMPLAINT ABOUT IT IN THE PAST. LAST WEEK, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND SLOWED DOWN RAPIDLY. I HAD BEEN LUCKY NO ONE WAS CLOSELY FOLLOWING BEHIND ME AND I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND QUICKLY COULD PULL OVER OR I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND AT A VERY FAST SPEED BECAUSE OF THE ETB FAILING. I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY OF THE SAFETY ISSUES THAT MY CAR HAS. FORD HAS FAILED TO NOTIFY ME AND I FEEL THAT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SEND ME ANYTHING, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE MY ADDRESS AND EMAIL, THEY PUT ME AT RISK OF AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE LED TO SERIOUS INJURIES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND A COUPLE OF FAILURE CODES RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING APPEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000.
PURCHASED USED 8/1/14, WAS NOT INFORMED OF ANY RECALLS OR ISSUES BY DEALERSHIP. APRIL 2017 AFTER LEARNING BY SEARCHING ON GOOGLE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON FUEL TANK/SYSTEM. SPOKE WITH FORD CORP. WHICH EMAILED THE RECALL PROCESS STEP BY STEP, WAS INFLUENCED TO MENTION THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER EXT. WARRANTY. TOOK TO DEALER IN TUCSON, AZ JIM CLICK FORD. AFTER 3 HOURS OF POSSESSING VEHICLE I RECEIVED INFORMATION THAT FUEL TANK/ SYSTEM AND THROTTLE BODY WERE NOT AFFECTED AND NO WORK WAS REQUIRED AND EVEN AFTER AGREEMENT BY FORD CORP. AND THE SALES REP. THAT NO DIAGNOSTICS FEE WOULD BE CHARGED. I SPENT 3 HOURS ARGUING THAT IT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY AND RECALL. FOUND OUT LATER THROTTLE BODY IS RECALLED ISSUE, THAT'S WHY EXT. JIM CLICK FORD OF TUCSON DAMAGED VEHICLE FROM DRIVER SIDE TO PASS. SIDE IN CENTER OF VEHICLE INCLUDING MAIN FRAME. CHANGES TO THE SYNC AND COMPUTER BECAME NOTICEABLE DUE TO UPGRADED OPTIONS THAT HAD NEVER BEEN USABLE. IGNITION SWITCH HAD BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH CHEAP RUBBER, LIGHTING NO LONGER EXISTED( LIGHT FOR ON/OFF, ACC), WAS TOLD SPARK PLUGS AND BOOTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY HAD BEGUN WORK (WITHOUT PERMISSION). LATER THAT WEEK PLUGS HAD BEEN PULLED ND INSPECTED, ONLY ONE PLUG WAS NO GOOD (HAD THEM REPLACED IN DECEMBER BY CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND WHO OWNS MECHANIC SHOP 40+ YEARS. EMPLOYEES LEFT BOX OF APPROX 50 NEW JIM CLICK COFFEE MUGS, FOOT PRINTS ON PASSENGER DOOR, STOLE DEBIT CARD, THREW GIRLFRIENDS UNDERWEAR AND BRAS OUT OF BAG AND SPREAD OUT IN TRUNK.

I HAVENT HAD AN ISSUE EXCEPT I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2017 AND WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE AIR BAG RECALL,THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND ARE BLAMING FORD FOR NOT GETTING THEM THE CORRECT PARTS TO ADDRESS THIS VITAL SAFETY ISSUE. IN THE MEAN TIME I'VE RECEIVED NOTICES ABOUT THE RECALL AND TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER,ETC...BUT IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS WHAT CAN I DO?? FOR FORD TO BE TAKING THIS LONG ON SENDING OUT THE PARTS IS BEYOND ME FOR SUCH A CRUCIAL SAFETY ISSUE,AND WAS WONDERING HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE IN THE MEANTIME??
WAS DRIVING THROUGH A TURN ON A COUNTRY ROAD WHEN THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING RESULTING IN A CRASH. DAMAGE TO PASSENGER SIDE FRONT FENDER, DOOR, RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AND BOTH TIRES DAMAGED. NO INJURIES, APPROXIMATE SPEED AT TIME OF INCIDENT WAS 40 MPH.
DRIVE MY CAR SO I WAS IN MOTION WHEN I STARTED TO LOSE MY BRAKES THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I ALMOST HIT A CAR. TOOK IT TO MR TIRES TO BLEED AIR OUT OF THE BRAKE LINE GOT IT BACK FROM MR TIRES AND I WAS IN MOTION WITH MY CAR AND STARTED LOSING MY BREAKS, HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WENT THROUGH THE LIGHT A LITTLE LUCKLY THE LIGHT HAD NOT TURN YET FOR THE OTHER CARS THAT WERE STOP. TOOK IT BACK TO MR. TIRES AND THEY TRIED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, STILL DO NOT HAVE MY CAR THEY NEED TO ORDER THE SPECIAL PART THE ABS MODULE DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH THIS IS GOING TO COST BECAUSE THEY ALSO HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL TECH COME IN AND MAKE SURE IT IS CALIBRATED RIGHT,. TODAY, APRIL 20 2017, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING MY MORNING COMMUTE I HAD 2 SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON.. "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" & "SERVICE POWER STEERING". I HAD NEVER HAD THESE LIGHTS POP UP SO IT TOOK ME BY SURPRISE BUT FIGURED I WOULD HAVE THE CAR CHECKED OVER THE WEEKEND, I COULDN'T EVEN DO THAT BECAUSE NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES LATER MY CAR WENT COMPLETELY STIFF ON ME WHILE I WAS STILL ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 65MPH. IT WAS THE SCARIEST FEELING AND ALL I COULD THINK WAS THAT I WAS SO GLAD I HAD ALREADY DROPPED MY 6 YEAR OLD OFF AT SCHOOL BECAUSE AT LEAST IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT HE WOULDN'T BE INJURED. I AM ONLY 5'2" AND AROUND 140LBS AND IT TOOK EVERYTHING I HAD TO TRY AND TURN INTO MY JOBS PARKING LOT. LUCKILY I DID MAKE IT TO WORK BUT ONCE I PARKED I COULD FEEL THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT GOING TO BUDGE SO I NOW NEED TO GET A TOW TRUCK TO HAUL MY CAR AND MYSELF BACK HOME. THE ELECTRIC SEAT MOTOR WILL NO LONGER RAISE OR LOWER THE FRONT HALF OF THE SEAT. THIS IS REGARDLESS OF IF THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT.
2010 FORD FUSION SE. I LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING. AFTER PULLING OVER I RESTARTED THE CAR BUT THE ISSUE REMAINED I NOW ONLY HAVE MANUAL STEERING. MY WIFE AND I STOPPED BY THE DEALER WE WERE TOLD THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS LISTED FOR OUR MODEL .BUT AFTER RESEARCHING I SEE THAT 2011 AND UP HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE ELECTRONIC ASSIST POWER STEERING.
THE BRAKES IN MY FORD FUSION 2010 HAVE BEEN GOING LOOSE WHILE DRIVING. THE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM SUDDENLY I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES. 2010 FORD FUSION ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING (EPAS) I WAS DRIVING MY FAMILY AROUND TOWN, SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 2017, WHEN A MESSAGE CAME ACROSS THE DASH SAYING, "SERVICE AVANCETRAC". I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. 20 MINUTES LATER WE GOT BACK IN OUR CAR TURNED IT ON AND THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. THE WARNING ON THE DASH NOW READS, " SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE FIRST WARNING OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED ALTOGETHER. THIS SEEMS TO ALREADY BE A REPORTED PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE AND IS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE NHTSA. I AM THANKFUL THIS DIDN'T OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR ANY OTHER SCENARIO THAT PUTS MY FAMILY IN HARM'S WAY.
WHEN ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF LEAVING ME CROSSED OPPOSED TRAFFIC. WILL USUALLY START RIGHT AWAY AFTER. CAR HAS TO BE IN PARK TO RESTART. ON OCCASION THE SECURITY LIGHT FLASHES AND WILL NOT RESTART WITHOUT LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE CAR. PERFORMING THIS ACTION WHILE BLOCKING TRAFFIC (IN BOTH DIRECTIONS) CAN'T BE SAFE IN ANY WAY. POWER STEERING SHIFT WARNING COMES ON AND YOU CANT STEER. DEALER DID A RESET OF COMPUTER BUT SAID IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT CHARGE OF $1400. THAT PART IS COVERED FREE OF CHARGE IN 2011 BUT NOT IN 2010.
RECALL COMPLAINT: I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY CAR'S AIRBAG IN JUNE 2016. AS OF APRIL 2017, THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. I UNDERSTAND IT TAKES TIME TO MANUFACTURE PARTS NEEDED FOR RECALLS BUT THIS SEEMS EXTREMELY LONG FOR A RECALL, COMPARED TO PAST RECALLS I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATED. ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING (EPAS) NOT FUNCTIONING. EPAS SYSTEM FAULT INDICATED WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH. EPAS QUIT FUNCTIONING ENTIRELY AND STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT WITHOUT THE ASSIST. ACCIDENT WAS BARELY AVOIDED. EPAS WILL NOT RESET AND I WAS TOLD BY A FORD DEALERSHIP THERE ARE CURRENTLY 8 CARS IN THE U.S. THAT THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE OR REPROGRAM. THEREFORE I HAVE AN OTHERWISE GOOD VEHICLE THAT IS UNDRIVABLE.
While driving, the throttle body valve malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to rapidly lose power and go into an engine "safe mode." The check engine light appeared on the dash. I was luckily able to pull over to the side of the road. Restarting the vehicle cleared the error, but the issue continued to recur until I was able to get home. Luckily the sudden loss of power did not cause an incident, but as it occurred on the highway, a sudden drop in speed could have posed a safety risk, especially if it had occurred in inclement weather. There was a recall for the specific part that failed, but due to my model being a hybrid, it was not included even though it contained the exact faulty component. Speaking with Ford Customer Care confirmed this to be the case that my specific car was not included in the recall. I was able to order the replacement part myself and perform the repair. The error message that was thrown in the car's OBD system was: P2112 "Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed" The code was not saved in the module so it could only be read at the time the issue was actively occurring before the vehicle was turned off.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT FUNCTIONED APPROPRIATELY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TURNPIKE FORD DEALER WHERE THE NOZZLE WAS CLEANED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN AND STATED THAT CLEANING THE NOZZLE WAS THE ONLY REMEDY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY CAR HAS A CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM BUT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS ILLUMINATING AFTER I FUEL UP AND STAYS ON. I HAVE HAD THE CODE THAT APPEARS TESTED AND ALWAYS COMES BACK AS A "MISSING OR LOOSE GAS CAP " WHICH CLEARLY IS IMMPOSSIBLE SINCE IT DOES NOT REQUIRE ONE, WHEN I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF A PROBLEM WITH IT BUT WOULD COST $700-1000 TO FIX THE ISSUE AND FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. IT'S ALARMING THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR A SILLY PROBLEM AND HAVE NO WAY OF TELLING IF SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING ON WITH THE CR SINCE THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY UP TO $1,000 FOR A FORD FAULTY SYSTEM
