DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND LOST POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON DASH SAYING SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW
WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED THE TEMP GAUGE WAS ON HIGH. NO WARNING LIGHTS PRECEDING THIS AND NOW LOW COOLANT ALARM. TURNED A CORNER TO PULL OFF AND BEFORE I COULD, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE SHUDDERED TO A STOP CAUSING ME TO LOOSE STEERING AND BRAKES. WITH NO WARNING ENABLING ME TO EITHER CHECK THE CAR OUT, OR SAFELY GET OFF THE ROAD. THE WATER PUMP WHICH IS INSIDE THE ENGINE FAILED. IT HAS CONTAMINATED THE OIL NOW REQUIRING AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE. ON SEARCHING GOOGLE FOR THE FORD 3.5L V6 ENGINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINES AND ITS DESIGN. I CANT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN SHOULD IT FAIL WITHOUT WARNING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN I LOSS POWER AND THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE GAS SO LUCKY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO GET IN TO EMERGENCY LANE BEFORE I GOT HIT FROM BEHIND BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. I HAVE HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT AND TOLD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VACUUM SYSTEM ON THIS CAR. IT HAS TO DO THE THE FILLER NECK ON THE GAS TANK. MY MECHANIC TELLS ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSION AND THIS MODEL. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED IN TO BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE IS IN THE SMAE BOAT AND GETS KILLED OR CAUSE ONE SERIOUS PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING HE FROM WORK WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON AND MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT STARTED BACK UP HOWEVER THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERYDAY SINCE. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60000 MILES AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR 3 MONTHS.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE EPAS STEERING GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING MECHANISM. NO FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE REPAIR WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I HAD TO STRUGGLE HARD TO PUT IT INTO A SPACE....LUCKILY, THE PARKING LOT WAS NOT VERY FULL AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO ONE WITHOUT CARS ON EITHER SIDE. A WARNING MESSAGE LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD, BUT NOT UNTIL THE SYSTEM WAS ALREADY DISABLED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND REPAIRED AT A COST OF ALMOST $1,800. THE CAR HAD 39,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.. UPON CHECKING THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEIR IS NO RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING...FOR 2010. BUT THERE IS RECALLS FOR THE SAME CAR FOR 2011, 2012 AS WELL AS 2013... SHOULD A VEHICLE WITH 39,000 SUCH A PROBLEM? NHTSA ID. # 10764902
I HAD A LOW TIRE NOT FLAT I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY ALLEYWAY SLOWLY AND HIT A SMALL POT HOLE ON MY WAY TO GO GET IT FILLED WITH AIR AT THE NEAREST GAS STATION WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND THE ALARM CAME ON SAYING POWER STEERING FAILURE OR SOMETHING TO THAT MATTER I AM A BIG FELLA I WAS ABLE TO MAN HANDLE THE CAR TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION WITH NO POWER STEERING WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT. I THEN FILLED THE TIRE MANHANDLED THE CAR TO HER DAY CARE THEN UP THE STREET TO THE CLOSEST AUTO SHOP. WHERE I DROPPED IT OFF. AND WAS LATE TO WORK HAVING MY BROTHER COME PICK ME UP I WAS STRESSED OUT OF MY MIND BECAUSE I READ HOW EXPENSIVE IT WAS TO REPLACE LUCKILY THE MECHANIC HAD A EMPLOYEE WHO HAD DEALT WITH IT BEFORE AND WAS ABLE TO POP THE STEERING COLUMN OUT OF THE JAMMED SEQUENCE IT WAS IN AND HE SAID HE HAD SEEN IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WHICH COST ME ABOUT 200 BUCKS ALOT BETTER THAN 2000. HOWEVER AFTER THAT MY CAR WAS NOT THE SAME COME TO FIND OUT MY WHEEL BEARING HAD FAILED ABOUT 6MONTHS LATER AND SOME ARM WAS BENT COSTING ME 800 DOLLARS I BELIEVE THIS WAS DUE TO THAT ISSUE I HAD PRIOR I AM PISSED ABOUT THIS FINDING OUT HOW MANY OF THESE CARS ARE DOING THIS. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD PAY TO REPLACE THEIR FAULTY UNSAFE STEERING AXEL AND COLUMNS. *TR
DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH ON LEVEL ROAD. A WARNING LIGHT (WRENCH) ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH AND WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 10-15 SECONDS AFTERWARDS THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. WHILE I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR WOULD ONLY REV UP AND WOULD NOT PULL. SO WHILE COASTING, I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. WAITED 10-15 MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR, THE WARNING LIGHT (WRENCH) WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. I THEN SHIFTED THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND IT OPERATED NORMALLY. ACCELERATION WAS OK AND THE VEHICLE DROVE AS THOUGH NOTHING HAD HAPPENED.

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON FM ROAD ON COMING VEHICLE ON WRONG SIDE STRUCK DAUGHTER CAR HEAD ON. DAUGHTERS CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE, SEAT BELTS LOCKED OR FROZE PASSENGER UNABLE TO UNLOCK SEAT BELT. DAUGHTER DIED PASSENGER RECEIVED BURNS TO HANDS.DAUGHTERS CAR WAS IN MOTION.
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A CURVY BACK ROAD AT 11:00PM, THE POWER STEERING SERVICE NOW MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY 2010 FORD FUSION'S INSTRUMENT PANEL. A MILE FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT FORCING ME TO USE EVERY BIT OF STRENGTH I HAD JUST TO TURN THE WHEEL. THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THIS IS AN ALL TOO OFTEN PROBLEM WITH MANY 2010 FUSION OWNERS AND KNEW I NEEDED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. SHAME ON FORD FOR NOT ISSUING A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING YET. HOW MANY BODIES DO THEY NEED TO RACK UP BEFORE ACKNOWLEDGING THERE IS A "PROBLEM"?

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD CAUTIOUSLY AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
AS OF LAST THURSDAY, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAD BEEN FUNCTIONING INTERMITTENTLY. AS OF YESTERDAY IT NO LONGER FUNCTIONS AT ALL. AT FIRST, THE INFORMATION DISPLAY WOULD SHOW "POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAULT" AND THE POWER ASSIST WOULD BE GONE. SO I WOULD RESTART THE CAR AND ALL WOULD BE FINE. WELL YESTERDAY IT REQUIRED 4 RESTARTS BEFORE THE POWER ASSIST WOULD WORK. THEN ON MY LAST TIME USING THE CAR YESTERDAY IT WENT OUT COMPLETELY, NO MATTER HOW MANY RESTARTS THE SYSTEM SHOWS THAT MESSAGE AND HAS NO POWER ASSIST. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY ISSUE FOR 2011-2012 BUT THE 2010S DEFINITELY NEED TO BE INCLUDED AS WELL. IT'S THE SAME CAR AND 2010 OWNERS ARE LEFT TO PAY FOR THE COSTLY REPAIR OURSELVES WHILE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS BEING RECTIFIED FOR 2011 AND UP OWNERS. IT'S NOT FAIR, FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT NOT BURY THEIR HEADS IN THE SAND ON THIS 1 YEAR MODEL.

I BOUGHT A 2010 FORD FUSION FROM PLANET SUZUKI DEALERSHIP IN 2014. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY REAL PROBLEMS FOR 2 YEARS. I AM LEASING THIS VEHICLE FOR $22000. HOWEVER, IN SEPT 2, 2015 THE POWER STEERING RACK WENT. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO WARRANTY ON IT. MY FINANCE COMPANY FINANCED THE PAYMENTS OF $870 IN MY WEEKLY PAYMENTS. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME, IT WOULD BE A NEW POWER STEERING RACK PUT ON. BUT, 3 WEEKS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT AGAIN. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP FIXED IT, BECAUSE THERE WAS A WARRANT ON THE PART. THEN 6 MONTHS LATER IT WENT AGAIN IN JUNE23, 2016. BUT THIS TIME THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT ,CAUSE THEY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, CAUSE I WENT OVER 22000 MILES. THEY SAY THEY DON'T NO WHAT KEEP CAUSING IT TO GO OUT! I FEEL LIKE IF IT WENT OUT 3 TIMES IN 9 MONTHS, IT SHOULD GET FIXED AND NOT BY ME AGAIN. THEN I FOUND OUT THERE IS RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING RACK. HOWEVER, I DON'T KNOW IF THAT PERTAINS TO MY 2010 FORD FUSION. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT DISCLOSE TO ME THERE WAS ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. I CAN'T AFFORDD TO PAY $2500-$3000 FOR THE POWER STEERING FOR A BRAND NEW ONE TO BE PUT ON, AS WELL AS MAKE MY WEEKLY PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER, AND WE ALMOST ENDED UP HAVING AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE DRIVING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS UP WITH AN ORGANGE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND NEED TO GET OFF THE ROAD AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENS. IT SOUNDS AND APPEARS LIKE THE CAR IS ABOUT TO STALL.THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK.I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME IT IS THE TROTTLE BODY AND THAT A FORD DEALER WOULD FIX IT. I DROPPED IT OFF ONLY TO PICK IT UP 2 DAYS LATER AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS FOUND. SINCE IT DIDNT OCCUR WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING IT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE PART. I HAVE NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH NO OTHER MEANS FOR TRANSPORATION AND THE MECHANICS AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS "SAFE." POWER STEERING LOCKED UP, COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL IN ANY DIRECTION. THIS HAPPENED IN A VERY RURAL AREA WHERE THERE WAS NO PHONE SERVICE TO EVEN CALL FOR HELP. I COULD HAVE DIED. THIS IS NOT SAFE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN MY VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING. I HAD NO WAY TO GIVE GAS TO THE CAR. I MANAGED (LUCKILY) TO PULL OVER TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGHLY WITH NO WAY TO GIVE IT GAS. I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT SUCCESSFULLY AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER SEVERAL DAYS. THE LOCAL PARTS STORE CHECKED THE CODES AND IT WAS THE P2111 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR. I FOUND OUT ALSO THAT IT WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THAT PART. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY LIFE WAS PUT IN DANGER WITH A KNOWN VERY SERIOUS DEFECT. WHY DIDN'T THE NHTSA MAKE FORD DO A RECALL? AN EXTENDED WARRANTY JUST POSTPONES THE TIME THAT THE EVENT WILL HAPPEN. I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAD REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM.
LAST MONTH MY 2010 FORD FUSION WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" WHILE DRIVING TWICE IN THE SAME DAY - ENGINE STILL RUNS BUT NO POWER OTHER THAN IDLING - VERY DANGEROUS. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AS PART OF A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM AT NO COST. THE VEHICLE HAS GONE INTO "LIMP MODE" ONE MORE TIME SINCE THEN. I DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE.
THE FUEL TANK IS LEAKING ON THE VEHICLE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY SAYS IT WAS RUST. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NOT RUST AND WAS COMMON ON THIS MODEL OF FUSION. THEY SAY IT IS LEAKING FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK NEAR THE SEAM. I CANNOT FILL THE TANK IN MY CAR AND THIS IS A DANGER BECAUSE IT IS CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WILL BE $1200 AND WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY JUST ARE AWARE THERE IS A ISSUE BUT ALSO TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.
TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING JUST LIKE THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS I'M READING ABOUT ON FORUMS AND IT SOUNDS LIKE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT MUST BE CONSTANTLY REPAIRED.

MY 2010 FORD FUSION LOST POWER STEERING WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 55 MPH. MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND CAUSED ME TO GO OFF THE ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH SEVERAL OTHER CARS. FORD CHARGED ME $1,800 TO FIX MY POWER STEERING WHEN THEY KNEW ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. AS THEY HAD RECALLED ALL THE FORD FUSIONS AT THE TIME BUT THE 2010.
ON 8/29/15 VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AS I WAS TRAVELLING DOWN ROAD APPROXIMATELY 40 - 45MPH. I CONTINUED DOWN ROAD GOING SLOWER AND SLOWER. CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT I WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND GET TO GAS STATION. IT STALLED REPEATEDLY UNTIL THEN. CALLED TOW TRUCK AND THEY THOUGHT IT COULD BE WATER IN GAS LINE. ADDED DRY GAS SOLUTION AND MORE GASOLINE AND CAR RAN OK FOR 3 MORE DAYS AND THEN THE SAME THING OCCURRED. CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF AND RESTART. WHEN HITTING BRAKES COMPLETELY, IT SEEMED TO LOSE POWER QUICKER. I TOOK IT TO PALMER FORD IN CHELSEA, MI ON 9/4 AND THEY COULDN'T RECREATE ISSUE, BUT FOUND THROTTLE LIGHT WHEN THEY CHECKED COMPUTER PANEL. THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THROTTLE THOUGH. ON 9/7/15, CAR LOST POWER AGAIN. WE ALSO OWN A 2011 FORD FUSION AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR IT FOR A THROTTLE ISSUE THAT HAS EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V574000 (WHEELS); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE WHEEL STUDS WERE MISSING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
I HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE DEFECTS ON MY 2010 FORD FUSION. NOW, ON THE WAY TO TAKING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL..MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN! I'VE READ THAT THERE ARE OVER 400,000 COMPLAINTS AND A PENDING LAWSUIT ON THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY CAR! I'VE FILED A LAWSUIT TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN OUR 2010 FORD FUSION STARTED PULLING HARD TO THE RIGHT. SHE PULLED INTO A TIRE SHOP PARKING LOT BELIEVING SHE HAD A RIGHT FRONT TIRE FAILURE WHEN THE INFORMATION PANEL SAID "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, TIRES WERE FINE. I AM VERY GRATEFUL SHE WAS NO LONGER ON THE HIGHWAY AS THIS COULD EASILY HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, JERKED, AND HESITATED BEFORE ACCELERATING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE VEHICLE SOON AND SECURITY LOCK WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,801.
8/24/2015 HAD THE CHARCOAL CANISTER AND VAPOR CONTROL VALVE REPLACED IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION BY DEALERSHIP. TOOK CAR FILLED UP TANK, DROVE CAR, NOTICED A SMELL AND GAS RUNNING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH CAR NEAR THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. CALLED DEALERSHIP BACK TOOK CAR BACK IN AND WAS TOLD ON 8/25/2015 THAT THERE WAS/IS A BREAK IN WELD OF GAS TANK. OVER $1600.00 LATER I HAD TO PAY, OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS. I HAVE FOUND ON NUMEROUS WEB SITE (I.E. REPAIR PAL AND SAFERCAR.GOV TO NAME A FEW) THAT THIS IS A KNOWN/ONGOING ISSUE....UPDATED10/27/15*BF *CN
THIS IS THE 6TH TIME I HAVE HAD BROKEN WHEEL STUDS ON EITHER THE DRIVERS OR PASSENGERS SIDE FRONT WHEELS. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. SUGGESTED I RE-TORQUE THE NUTS AT 500 MILES, HARD TO DO WHEN THEY ARE GONE.
CAR BRAKES ARE SQUISHY AND PEDAL IS EASILY PUSHED TO FLOOR WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEED OR IN PANIC STOP. FEELS LIKE THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. TOOK TO FORD AND THEY ADVISED IT WAS OPERATING PROPERLY. STILL DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT AND TAKES TOO LONG TO STOP.
HEATER/AC MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE WHEN TURNED ON ANY SETTING AND WILL NOT SPEED UP WHEN FAN SPEED IS TURNED UP OR DOWN.
WHILE DRIVING A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, "HAVE POWER STEERING SERVICED", WITHIN A FEW SECONDS "HAVE ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM SERVICED" WARNING APPEARED. I SHUT OFF THE CAR. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR THERE WAS A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE DIFFICULTY OF TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I DETECTED A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. REPAIR INVOICE STATES AN INTERNAL FAULT OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. RACK AND PINION SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 60,402. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON A BUSY ROAD THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP I RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT READ "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AS SOON AS I STARTED THE CAR AND AT THE EXACT SAME TIME I LOST THE POWER STEERING. TURN OUT THAT CORRODED WIRES FRIED THE RACK & PINION. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED OVER A 100 MILES TO GET IT HOME. FORD TRIED TO TELL ME THAT THE WIRES WERE DAMAGED BY RODENTS. THEY CONVENIENTLY LEFT OUT THE IMPORTANT FACT THAT MY CAR (BUILT 04/07/2010) WAS NOT BUILT WITH AN EPAS GEAR HEAT SHIELD ON THE RACK & PINION. THE HEAT SHIELD WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE WIRES FROM INCINERATING & FRYING THE RACK & PINION. FORD KNEW THAT THE LACK OF THE HEAT SHIELD WAS A PROBLEM AND TOOK STEPS TO CORRECT THIS ON THE FUTURE CARS. FUSIONS BUILT AFTER 04/12/2010 HAD THE HEAT SHIELD ADDED TO THE RACK & PINION. BUT THEY HAVE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE ERROR ON THE CARS BUILT BEFORE 04/12/2010 THAT WERE BUILT WITHOUT THE HEAT SHIELD. I AM BLESSED THAT I WAS NOT ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME THAT I LOST MY POWER STEERING SINCE I WAS JUST STARTING BACK HOME ON COUNTRY ROADS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. IN THE PAST 5YRS I HAVE NOW HAD 3 POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CAR MALFUNCTIONS. 1. AUG. 2013 - ENGINE SHAKING. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. NEEDED NEW ENGINE & TRANS. MOUNTS. 2. OCT. 2013 - THROTTLE BODY FAILURE WHILE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. 3. AUG. 2015 - POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP GOING DOWN ROAD AT ABOUT 40 VERY DANGEROUS IF ON A CURVY ROAD. THE LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID CHECK POWER STEERING THEN IT WENT OUT.
2010 FORD FUSION. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, GOING AROUND A SLIGHT BEND, MY STEERING WHEEL GOT EXTREMELY TIGHT. FOR A SECOND I THOUGHT THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. IT TOOK ALL I HAD TO TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID HITTING THE MEDIAN. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID THE MEDIAN. AFTER THE COMPLETE SCARE, AND THANKFULLY I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR, THE MESSAGE CAME UP "POWER STEERING ASIST FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCTRAC". I TOOK IT RIGHT TO A FORD GARAGE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE LOVELY TUNE OF $1,400. AFTER DOING SOME DIGGING, I FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE 2011+ FORD FUSIONS, BUILT IN THE SAME PLANT MINE WAS(MEXICO). I CONTACTED FORD, WHICH IS ACTUALLY PRECEPTA, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL IS VIN SPECIFIC. I QUESTION WHY THE 2010'S WE NOT RECALLED WHEN THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS.
I AM RECEIVING NUMEROUS "POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE FAILURE" WARNINGS. IT HAPPENS UPON STARTING MY CAR AND IT'S NOW BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. THE RESULT IS A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I KNOW FORD HAS RECALLED THIS ITEM BUT MY YEAR (2010) WAS EXCLUDED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH SAFETY ISSUE TO WARRANT AN ADDENDUM TO THE RECALL TO INCLUDE THE YEAR 2010.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROX 70MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE MADE A SLIGHT JERK, AND LOST PROPULSION. I HAD TO CROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC OFF TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. ONCE STOPPED AND IN PARK, THE ENGINE IDLED VERY ROUGHLY, SHAKING THE ENTIRE CAR. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE, AND RE-STARTED THE CAR. IT HAD TO CRANK FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE TURNING OVER AND STARTING. IT THEN DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 10 MILES BEFORE QUITTING AGAIN. I AGAIN STOPPED, THEN RESTARTED THE CAR, AND LIMPED IT HOME ON SIDE ROADS, OFF THE FREEWAY. IT DID NOT DRIVE SMOOTHLY, BUT MADE IT THE OTHER 15 MILES HOME WITHOUT QUITTING AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO RESEARCHED AND FOUND A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, CAUSING THESE EXACT SYMPTOMS, AND HAS REFERRED ME TO A FORD GARAGE FOR AN IN-WARRANTY REPAIR. THE APPOINTMENT FOR THAT IS TOMORROW.
ON SATURDAY, 08/15/2015 @7:45PM I WAS DRIVING ON I-10 ON THE FAR LEFT LANE ABOUT 65 MPH. AS I STARTED MOVING TO THE CENTER LANE TO GET TO THE RIGHT LANE ON A BIT OF AN INCLINE, A WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF ON THE DASHBOARD; I TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON. AS I PRESSED ON THE PEDAL TO GET ON THE CENTER LANE, THE CAR STARTED LOSING SPEED. I PRESSED THE PEDAL BUT THE SPEED KEPT COMING DOWN. AT THIS POINT THE SPEED WENT TO ABOUT 20 MPH AND A SEMI TRUCK WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME. I TRIED TO GET TO THE RIGHT LANE, BUT ANOTHER SEMI WAS ON MY RIGHT SIDE. AT THIS POINT, THE SPEED WAS ABOUT 10 MPH. RIGHT AFTER THE SEMI PASSED, I CHANGED TO THE RIGHT AND HAD JUST ENOUGH INERTIA TO MAKE IT TO A POINT ON THE FREEWAY BETWEEN AN ENTRY RAMP AND AN EXIT RAMP, NOT ON A SHOULDER. AFTER STOPPING, I TURNED THE KEY IGNITION OFF. I TRIED TO START RIGHT BACK, NOTHING. I CALLED MY HUSBAND TO PICK ME UP. WHILE WE TALKED, I TRIED THE IGNITION AGAIN; THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE THE CAR GOT OFF THE FREEWAY. I KEPT DRIVING ALL THE WAY HOME ON THE "GATEWAY" NEXT TO THE FREEWAY ON THE RIGHT LANE. WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS THEY OPENED ON MONDAY, 08/17/2015, EXPLAINED ISSUE. SERVICE REP INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE THROTTLE BODY, BUT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE CONFIRMED. THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD CONFIRMED IT WAS TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY, SINCE THE COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW FAILURE. THE CAR LOST POWER AS IT DID FOR ME, AND THE MECHANIC TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET IT. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR ON 08/24/2015, IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. THE SERVICE REP SAID THAT THEY ARE STILL GETTING THIS COMPLAINT. THEY SEE QUITE A BIT FOR CITY TRAFFIC, BUT HAVE HAD SOME FOR HIGH SPEEDS. HE DID SAY THAT MY CASE WAS THE MOST DANGEROUS HE HAD HAD AND THAT UNFORTUNATELY, FORD WILL NOT ISSUED A FULL RECALL AND WILL ONLY REPLACE AS IT HAPPENS AND IF PROVEN.

CAR HAS ONLY 55,708 MILES ON IT. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN YOU CAN LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THANK GOD THERE WASN'T AN ACCIDENT.

MY REAL CONCERN IS WHY FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN REQUIRED TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL. LOSS OF POWER COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IF THIS HAPPENS ON A INTERSTATE ARE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND A RED TRIANGLE LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS TO STOP SAFELY. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF.
