TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE HAD NOT RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,084.
CAR CUT OUT AND WENT TO LIMP MODE. CODE P2111 - ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM OPEN THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!!! MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR. IF I HAD NOT BEEN A EXPERIENCED DRIVER AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULT FROM SHUTTING DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE
WHILE DRIVING (8/8/15) ON I-65 AT APPROX. 75MPH, THE RPM'S DROPPED AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE THROTTLE PEDAL. AFTER CAREFULLY MAKING OUR WAY TO THE SHOULDER, IT WAS NOTICED THAT CHARGING SYSTEM AND THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION INDICATOR LIGHTS HAD TURNED ON. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND UPON RESTARTING, EVERYTHING APPEARED TO BE WORKING AS IT SHOULD. THE ABOVE WAS THE SECOND INSTANCE OF THIS MALFUNCTION. PREVIOUSLY (JUNE 2015), WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC AT APPROX. 30MPH, THE RPM'S DROPPED AND THE THROTTLE PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, FUNCTIONALITY RESUMED. OVER THE NEXT 15MILES BACK HOME, THIS OCCURRED THREE MORE TIMES AT SPEED BETWEEN 25 ~ 55 MPH. AT ALL INSTANCES, THE THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION INDICATOR LIGHT TURNED ON, BUT THEN TURNED OFF AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE.
ON SATURDAY 08/08/2015 I HAD A CLOSE CALL. MY FORD FUSION LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND POWER. I WAS GOING ABOUT 55MPH AND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE LANE BUT ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND ABOUT 3 TIMES. MY WIFE WAS IN THE CAR AND WAS SO SCARED THAT SHE TOOK A TAXI HOME AND WOULD NOT GET BACK IN THE CAR. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT FORD DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM, OR MAYBE WHEN SOMETHING MAJOR HAPPEN THAT IS WHEN THEY WILL STEP IN BUT IT WILL BE TOO LATE. I RECENTLY SPEND $350 TO GET MY PASSENGER SEAT BELT FIX AND I AM GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO GET THIS LOSS OF POWER FIXED TOO. I DO NOT WANT TO KEEP MY FORD ANYMORE BUT I AM ALSO AFRAID TO SELL TO SOMEONE AND HAVE THAT PERSON RISK THEIR LIFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ANYONE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE RPMS FLUCTUATED AND ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING TO COLLEGE WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE SHE WENT TO DRIVE AROUND A RIGHT HAND CORNER AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED THE CAR STEERING WAS SO HARD TO TURN THE CAR DIDN'T MAKE THE RIGHT HAND TURN SO THE CAR WENT ACROSS THE ROAD AND UP OVER THE CURB AND ALMOST HIT A LADY WALKING HER DOG NO ONE WAS HURT BUT SURE COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAR HAS NO OTHER DAMAGE BESIDES THE STEERING AND THE ADVANCE TRACK NOT WORKING I'M VERY GLAD EVERYONE IS OK I'M 50 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS I HAD TO GO GET THE CAR OFF THE CURB AND DRIVE IT TO THE FORD DEALER WAY HARD TO DO EVEN HARDER THEN A OLDER VEHICLE IF THE POWER STEERING FAILED SOMETHING REALLY NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED 42000 MILES CAR IS LIKE NEW AND I SEE WELL OVER 500 COMPLAINTS SO FAR SO I WOULD SAY THIS ISN'T JUST A RANDOM PROBLEM.
THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY LOSE ACCELERATION AND COME TO STOP, ENGINE SPUTTERS AND CAR SHAKES. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR A MINUTE AND RESTARTING, YOU CAN CONTINUE ON. THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING AND IS A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION IN BUSY TRAFFIC. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THE PROBLEM IS ASSOCIATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND SEEMS TO BE ELECTRONIC IN NATURE.
THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE HAS A CABLE ATTACHMENT TO IT, WHEN YOU PULL THE DOOR HANDLE IT MOVES THE LOCK AND THE DOOR OPENS. TODAY, MINE BROKE. THE REASON FOR CONTACTING YOU, I CALLED THE FORD LOCATION TO CHECK FOR REPAIR, THE PARTS MAN TOLD ME THAT THIS DOOR HANDLE PROBLEM WAS THE NO 1 PROBLEM FOR FORD MOTOR CARS. SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY WOULD ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, WOULD YOU THINK THAT $150.00 COST FOR REPLACEMENT MIGHT BE THE REASON? SOUNDS LIKE ADD ON SALES, DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT, BUT THE NUMBERS ARE MILLIONS.
IN AUG. 2010, WHILE LEAVING HOME ON OUR CANYON ROAD, AND ON A DOWNHILL INCLINE, I STOPPED WITHOUT INCIDENT TO LET A COUPLE OF CARS PASS ON A NARROW STRETCH. AFTER THEY PASSED I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND SLOWLY (10-15MPH) ROLLED INTO A 90 DEGREE DOWNHILL TURN. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. I QUICKLY PUMPED THE STOOD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH NO RESULTS. I HAD ONLY 2-3 SECONDS TO REACT AND AS I BEGAN TO GO STRAIGHT THROUGH THE TURN I JERKED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND RODE AN EARTHEN BANK UP AND OVER A BOULDER THAT STOPPED THE CAR. THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS BADLY DAMAGED, TOTALING THE CAR. HAD I GONE STRAIGHT ANOTHER 4 FEET, I WOULD HAVE GONE OFF OF A CLIFF AND ONTO A HIGHWAY. THE CAR WAS ALWAYS PERFECTLY SERVICED AND HAD NO PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY. FORD DID NOT RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT.

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING LOCKED AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME ON. IT IS HAPPENING MULTIPLE TIMES ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH
MY 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND TWO FRIENDS WERE TRAVELING BACK FROM THE CAMPGROUND HEADING BACK TO ONE OF THE FRIENDS HOUSE FOR THE NIGHT. THEY HAD DECIDED TO STOP BY A COFFEE SHOP JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM WHERE THEY WERE HEADING. WHEN SHE WENT TO MAKE THE TURN FROM THE HIGHWAY INTO THE PARKING LOT THE CAR LOST ALL POWER STEERING. SHE MANAGED TO GET THE CAR INTO A PARKING SPACE AND NO ONE WAS INJURED NOR WAS THERE A WRECK. SHE STATED TO ME THAT THE CAR WAS FINE NO PROBLEMS AT ALL UNTIL SHE SLOWED TO MAKE THE TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT THAT WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND A MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE DASH ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL SYMBOL. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS BEFORE THE PROBLEM ACCRUED JUST HAPPENED AT THE SNAP OF YOUR FINGER.
MY 2010 FORD FUSION DEVELOPED A GAS LEAK ON AUGUST 1 2015. THE LEAK WAS A CONSTANT DRIP COMING FROM THE GAS TANK. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO BE FIXED. AFTER REVIEWING THE GAS TANK, I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THE METAL GAS TANK WAS CORRODING AT THE SEAMS AND HAD CORRODED ALMOST ALL THE WAY THROUGH IN ONE AREA(PASSENGER SIDE). THE GASOLINE WAS SEEPING THROUGH THE CORRODED SEAM IN MULTIPLE AREAS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE METAL TANK DID NOT HAVE A WEATHER COATING TO PREVENT CORROSION. I WAS VERY SURPRISED AND FRUSTRATED THAT A FIVE YEAR OLD CAR HAS A GAS TANK THAT CORRODED THROUGH AND LEAKED GASOLINE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL....UPDATED 10/27/15 *BF UPDATED 11/03/15.*JB
SUSPECTED CRACK IN FUEL TANK DUE TO SMELL OF GASOLINE UNDER CAR CONTINUOUS SINCE SUMMER OF 2015, PLUS CLUTCH REGULARLY SLIPS NOW ALSO AS THOUGH PROBLEM IN TRANSMISSION.
UNUSUAL WHEEL VIBRATION ON 2010 FORD FUSION CONTINUOUS SINCE SUMMER 2015.
THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES COMPLETELY CORRODED END TO END RESULTING IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. FORTUNATELY, THIS OCCURRED LOCALLY AND WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO MY RESIDENCE. SHOULD THE NEED ARISEN TO ACCELERATE AWAY FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR AVOID AN ACCIDENT, THE FAILURE OF THESE LINES WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THAT AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY. FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, THERE IS AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF CORROSION ON THE FRAME AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS OF THIS CAR. I COMPARE THIS TO A 14 VW GOLF WITH 160,000 MILES AND 7 YEAR OLD BMW WITH 108,000 AND NEITHER EXHIBIT CORROSION OF THIS MAGNITUDE. THROUGH FORD FUSION/MERCURY MILAN/LINCOLN MKZ FORUMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HAVE THAT THIS PART IS BACK ORDERED OVER 10 DAYS RESULTING IN THE NEED TO RENT A CAR.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS RETURNED TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. KEPT BEING TOLD WAS A DIRTY FLAP IN THE CAPLESS FUEL NECK. QUIT TAKING IT SINCE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND COST 100.00 PER ISSUE WITHOUT ISSUE BEING FIXED. DROVE WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON UNTIL I SMELLED GAS WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE AND SAW GAS LEAK UNDER THE CAR BETWEEN BACK SEAT AREA AND TRUNK. TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE GAS TANK WAS CRACK AND HAD TO REPLACE AT A COST OF 1600.00 AFTER TANK WAS REPLACED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS STAYED OFF. FOUND OUT THAT MANY OF THE 2010 FUSIONS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THE 2013 FUSIONS ARE UNDER RECALL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANUALLY STEER IT INTO SAFE PLACE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO MY MOTHER IN LAW AND MY WIFE WHEN THEY WERE DRIVING. SO THREE INCIDENTS TOTAL. VERY UNSAFE. ALL THREE TIMES, THE STEERING WORKER AGAIN WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED

ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK AND TURNED OFF, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,854.
I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 25 MPH AND THE STEERING FAILED. POWER STEERING WAS GOING IN AND OUT, AND WAS MOSTLY OUT. I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY - DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE SEEMED TO BE MANY, MANY, MANY VEHICLE RECALLS FOR STEERING ON THE FORD FUSION. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD WAS UNWILLING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART AND LABOR. I HAD TO PAY A TOTAL OF $1833.57 FOR THE STEERING, LABOR, AND FOR THE ALIGNMENT. I AM HOPING THAT I WILL BE REIMBURSED FROM THE DEALER FOR THE THE PARTS.

DRIVING ON I 76 AND POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING A OF A SUDDEN. A MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD THAT SAID "CHECK ADVANCETRAC" " SERVICE POWER STEERING". THE DEALER SAID IT'S A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER MODULE AND I NEED A NEW RACK AND PINION WHICH WILL COST ME OVER $1800.00. THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE POWER STEERING FOR FORD FUSION AND EVEN RECALLS REGARDING THE ISSUE ON 2011 THROUGH 2015, BUT SINCE MY CAR IS A 2010 AND IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT I COULD BARELY MAKE TURNS AND HAD TO GET A MAN ON THE STREET TO PARK MY CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO. MY 1 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. MY CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS $33000 MILES ON IT AND FORD REFUSES TO HELP ME WITH THIS EXPENSE AT ALL. THEY ARE A TERRIBLE COMPANY WHO ONLY CARES ABOUT SAVING MONEY. THEY ARE NOT EVEN CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY AND HOW THIS CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS. WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT SPEED, THE CAR LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. ENGINE CHECK OR WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. BEING ON A HIGHWAY WITHOUT POWER SEEM TO PUT ME AND THE VEHICLE IN JEOPARDY OF BEING IN A COLLISION. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND BACK ON TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. SINCE THEN THE ENGINE SPEED SEEMS TO SURGE. WHILE THIS HAS NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED SYMPTOMS INDICATES A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AN ALARM SOUNDED AND A NOTIFICATION POPPED UP SAYING "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OFF POWER STEERING. AS I HAVE DONE IN THE PAST WHEN THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED, I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE PROBLEM AND NOTIFICATION WERE GONE. MOMENTS LATER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER, RESTARTED BUT THIS TIME THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. NOW AFTER 3 RESTARTS THE PROBLEM REMAINS AND MY CAR REMAINS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER SAFELY. UPDATED 12/21/2015*JS
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, ACCELERATING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR JERKED, STALLED OR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATING. I COULD ONLY BRAKE BUT THE RADIO AND A/C WERE FINE AND KEPT RIGHT ON, THE CAR JUST WOULD NOT GO. SO I SLOWED DOWN, PULLED OVER, TURNED THE KEY OFF, LET THE CAR SIT A MOMENT, THEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN. IT STARTED UP NO PROBLEM AND I DROVE AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ACCELERATING DOWN THE ROAD GONG ANYWHERE BETWEEN 25-60MPH. AFTER EACH INCIDENT THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE A SLIGHT HESITATION OR SO I FEEL, MAYBE I'M JUST BEING SENSITIVE TO THE CAR SO I CAN READ IT CORRECTLY. BUT EACH COMPUTER PROBLEM PRINTOUT AT A NON DEALERSHIP PARTS STORE SHOWS NOTHING IS WRONG. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE CAR STALLS DURING ACCELERATING AND THE LIGHT TURNS OFF ONCE I HAVE RESTARTED THE CAR.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2010 FORD FUSION APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN SHE FELT A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING. UPON GETTING HOME, WE FOUND A SEVERED WHEEL STUD ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. ODDLY ENOUGH, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US ON THIS VEHICLE. FORD ISSUED A RECALL BUT OUR MODEL FUSION WAS OUTSIDE OF THE AFFECTED MANUFACTURED VEHICLES BY ONE MONTH. THE FIRST TIME A FORD DEALER REPLACED THE STUD. THE SECOND TIME, ANOTHER FORD DEALER HAS REPLACED THE STUD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, I LOST ACCELERATION. THE RPMS DROPPED AND I WASN'T ABLE TO GET ANY RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL. LUCKILY, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY WAY OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN THE CAR OFF. AFTER DOING THIS, THE CAR STARTED BACK UP AND I HAD ACCELERATION AGAIN. ONCE I RETURNED HOME, I LOOKED THIS UP ONLINE AND FOUND MANY REFERENCES TO THE RECALL ON THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. I ONLY DROVE IT A COUPLE MORE TIMES WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN AND I STAYED IN TOWN. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ONE OTHER TIME IN THE 6 DAYS IT TOOK FOR MY PART TO BE ORDERED, DELIVERED, AND REPAIRED. SINCE FORD ONLY WANTED TO RESET THE THROTTLE BODY RATHER THAN REPLACE IT, I PAID FOR IT MYSELF AND HAD MY DAD DO THE WORK. I'M VERY LUCKY THAT THE INTERSTATE WASN'T CROWDED AND THAT I WASN'T IN THE BUSY CITY WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
THIS MORNING I DROVE MY 2010 FORD FUSION WITHOUT INCIDENT. WENT OUT LATER THE SAME DAY AND HAD THE POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC SERVICE MESSAGES APPEAR LESS THAN A MILE AFTER I STARTED DRIVING. I WENT 3 OR 4 MORE MILES AND HAD THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE GO TO SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW!. IN THE SPAN OF 4 MILES I WENT FORM NO ISSUES TO HAVING NO POWER STEERING AND BARELY BEING ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD. LOOKING ON LINE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER OR SOMEONE NOT AS STRONG AS I WAS WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR INCIDENT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT.
ONCE I PULLED OUT OF MY APARTMENT PARKING LOT HEADING TO WORK, THE DASHBOARD INDICATED THAT I NEED TO "SERVICE POWER STEERING SOON". AS I PROCEEDED FURTHER, THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE INDICATED THAT I NEEDED TO "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". THE STEERING WORKED WELL DURING THE COMMUTE TO WORK. ONCE I GOT TO WORK AND PARKED, I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE, THE MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD REPLIED "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS, THE POWER STEERING HAS STAYED IN THE SAME CONDITION. NO BETTER, NO WORSE. FURTHERMORE, THIS INCIDENT IS MORE SUSPICIOUS CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT FORD HAS ISSUED RECALLS ON 2011-2014 FUSIONS FOR THIS ISSUE.
CAR CUT OUT AND WENT TO LIMP MODE. NO CODE WAS SET. FIRST REPAIR CLEANED THROTTLE BODY OK FOR 1000MILE THEN MANY SHUT DOWNS ON AN INTERSTATE MADE IT TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. CAR VIN INDICATED IT WAS NOT UNDER THE SO CALLED RECALL CAR HAD EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS OTHER HAVE REPORTED ON VARIOUS WEB SITES THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!!! IF I HAD NOT BEEN A EXPERIENCED DRIVER AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULT FROM SHUTTING DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE FORD FUSION AND AN ERROR FOR "SERVICE POWER STEERING" CAME UP ON HER DASHBOARD. SHE STILL HAD POWER STEERING AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK AND PARK. UPON LEAVING WORK, SHE TURNED THE CAR ON AND REALIZED THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE. SHE COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT EFFICIENTLY TURN THE WHEEL. I HAD TO GO PICK HER UP AND AT WHICH POINT I REALIZED I COULD ATTEMPT TO STEER THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE THE COMMUTE HOME SAFELY, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVE WAS A STRUGGLE THE ENTIRE TIME. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY COMMON ISSUES. THEY DIAGNOSED THE CAR NEEDING A NEW RACK AND PINION UNIT (THE EPAS UNIT). WE REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION, NOT THROUGH FORD BECAUSE THEY WANTED $1800 WE DID NOT HAVE. AND THE ISSUE IS STILL PRESENT. THE CAR NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT HAS BEEN A REAL INCONVENIENCE FOR MY FAMILY. VEHICLE WAS JUST PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND AS I EXITED THE CAR I NOTICED SOMETHING ODD ACROSS THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT WAS YELLOWISH IN COLOR AND APPEARED TO HAVE A DRIPPING BUBBLE LOOK TO IT. CONTACTED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR CO., TO SEE ABOUT HAVING THIS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE,UNSAFE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. APPARENTLY, IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM. SPOKE WITH REPUTABLE WINDSHIELD INSTALLERS AND THEY STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS SEPARATING AND WILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THIS SEPARATION CONTINUES TO WORSEN, ESPECIALLY WITH WINTER JUST AROUND THE CORNER. THE WINDSHIELD WILL SPLINTER AND CRACK, WEAKEN AND EVENTUALLY BREAK. ACCORDING TO THE GENTLEMAN I SPOKE WITH HE STATED THAT HE HAS HAD NUMEROUS FORD FUSIONS COMING IN ALL THE TIME FOR WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT DUE TO THIS SEPARATION PROBLEM. I DRIVE THIS CAR WITH OTHER PASSENGERS AND MY GRANDCHILD. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FACTOR. I'M NOW FORCED TO INSTALL A NEW WINDSHIELD, BECAUSE FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT FEEL THIS IS THEIR PROBLEM AND WILL ONLY PUT AN OFFER ON THE TABLE IF YOU PLAY BY THEIR RULES! WHERE IS THE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SAFETY CONCERN WITH THIS WINDSHIELD PROBLEM. FOLKS IF YOU OWN A FUSION CHECK THE TOP OF YOUR WINDSHIELD AND MAKE SURE IT'S NOT SEPARATING AND BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE.
THE NIGHT WE BOUGHT THIS CAR, USED FROM A FORD DEALER, IT WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE WITHOUT JUMPING/BUCKING. THEY WERE SWIFT TO GIVE US A LOANER WHILE THEY "REPROGRAMEMD" THE CAR. NOW, IT ALL MAKES SENSE. THEY PUT A BANDAID ON IT UNTIL WE COULDN'T RETURN IT. SINCE THEN, JUST OVER 2YRS AGO, WE HAVE HAD THROTTLE REPLACED X3, CLEANED ONCE FOR $250 (WHILE ON THE WAY SOUTH FOR VACA, WE GOT STUCK HUNDREDS OF MILES FROM HM UNTIL FORD DEALER OPENED 2 DAYS LATER.) THIS CAR HAS STRANDED US THREE DIFF TIMES WHILE OUT OF STATE ON VACA. NOW WHILE ON INTERSTATE, THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL GO ON, THE CAR STARTS BUCKING AND ACTING LIKE A MANUAL IN THE WRONG GEAR. BUT, HAS NO ACCELERATION. JUST REVS TO 4K-6K RPMS. DANGEROUS ALMOST BEING RUN OVER BY SEMIS GOING FULL SPEED BEHIND YOU OR HAVING TO TRY AND CROSS 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO EMERGENCY LANE--WITH NO ACCELERATION! THIS CAR IS A DANGEROUS DEATH TRAP. SHOCKING TO ME HOW FORD HASN'T STOOD BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. WE, AS A HUGE EXTENDED FAMILY, HAVE ALWAYS STOOD BEHIND FORD. ALWAYS BOUGHT FORD. NOW, WE HAVE BEEN DUPED BY THEM. THEY KNOWINGLY SOLD US A FAULTY CAR, PUTTING THOUSANDS OF OTHER BUYERS IN DANGER AS WELL, AND HAVEN'T DONE A THING TO PROVE TO THE CONSUMERS THAT THEY CARE ABOUT US AS CUSTOMERS OR ONE IOTA ABOUT OUR LIVES. IF FORD DOESN'T RECALL THESE, I KNOW WE WILL SEE DEATHS FROM IT. ITS PROB GOING TO BE THE NEXT AUTOMOTIVE WORLD SCANDEL LIKE THE AIRBAGS. I HAD MY YOUNG DAUGHTER AND MY MOTHER WITH ME, SO THANK GOD WE WERE ALREADY IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT IN TRAFFIC OR AT A HIGHER SPEED!! (I'M ALSO SO THANKFUL MY NEWLY LICENSED SON WASN'T DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED.) I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR THERE SINCE IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND CALL FOR A RIDE. I WILL BE TAKING IT FOR SERVICE ON MONDAY, MOST LIKELY BY TOW TRUCK. I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER CASES ONLINE JUST LIKE MINE WHERE THE EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. CAR LOST POWER STEERING AS I WAS TURNING, PULLED HARD RIGHT, CAUSING CAR TO HIT A SMALL TREE. MINOR DAMAGE; CRACKED HEADLIGHT LENS AND FRONT NOSE PIECE DETACHED FROM FENDERS. THE CAR WAS RESTARTED AND THE STEERING APPEARED TO BE FINE. HOWEVER, SINCE THIS HAPPENED, THE STEERING APPEARS TO BE HARDER TO CONTROL AND THE CAR HAS A HARD PULL WHEN ACCELERATING SIMILAR TO TORQUE STEERING. THE CAR NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH TORQUE STEERING PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE CAR ALSO DEVELOPED A SWAY WHEN HITTING THE SMALLEST ROAD BUMPS, SUCH AS COMING OFF A BRIDGE.

WHEN I WAS LEAVING CAMP THE STEERING FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO PULL TO THE RIGHT, A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD ALL POWER STEERING WAS LOST. SERVICE ADVANC-TRAC WARNING MESSAGE WAS BEING DISPLAYED ON THE DASH BOARD. I PULLED OVER AT A CONVENIENT STORE TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM, COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. IT WAS RAINING SO I CAREFULLY DROVE HOME WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A RACK& PINION FAILURE, TOTAL COST TO REPAIR $1,641.00. THE DEALER STATED THEY HAD NOT SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. AFTER A SHORT SEARCH I FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS REPORTED. I READ WHERE THIS SAME PROBLEM INITIATED A RECALL ON THE 2011 FORD FUSION, BUT NO HELP REFERENCED TO THE 2010 FORD FUSIONS. IF THEY IDENTIFIED THE DEFECT IN THE 2011 MODELS, SHOULDN'T THEY FIX THE PROBLEM FROM THE PREVIOUS MODELS WITH THE ADVANCE-TRAC SYSTEM. NO DEALER WILL TOUCH THIS VEHICLE WITH ITS DEFECT AS A TRADE-IN, MEANWHILE I'M STILL PAYING ON A CAR THAT I CAN NOT DRIVE SAFELY.

FROM JUNE 15, 2015 THIS CAR HAS DONE THIS EITHER EVERYDAY OR EVERY OTHER DAY, I WAS COMING FROM WORK CAME OFF THE INTERSTATE I-485 AND THE CAR STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING A DUMP TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME AND ALMOST HIT ME IN THE BACK. I HAD TO PULL OVER IN THE GRAVEL BESIDE THE ROAD TO AVOID THIS ACCIDENT, I HAVE A 4YR OLD SON THAT I'M AFRAID TO EVEN LET RIDE WITH ME BECAUSE I'M AFRAID I WANT BE ABLE TO PULL OVER IN TIME ENOUGH WITH HIM BEING IN THE BACK SEAT HE WOULD FEEL THE IMPACT OF US BEING HIT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS CARE BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF SPEED WHILE DRIVING YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR ALL YOU CAN DO IS PULL OVER IT'S LIKE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL AND SOMEONE IS PUSHING IT.
