The power steering stopped working making the car dangerous to drive. fault message was "Power Steering Assist Failure" I think. The message went off after the car was restarted and the power steering system is working now.
Steering went out on interstate. Please please call the 2010 into recall
Braking system just went down in middle of coming to stop sign. All lights for entire brakes system displayed. Abs went down. advance trac lights, wrench lights, Brake lights, Abs Lights, Anti slip lights, and no power in system to barely stop. Almost went into intersion before stopping with brakes to the floor.
On at least two occasions, after cranking car, the power steering fails to work. The console warning message indicated Power Steering Assist Fault. Given that nearly one-third of ALL safety complaints for this vehicle are about steering and that several complaints have noted that the power steering can fail while driving and cause an accident, this issue certainly indicates the need for a recall. Other model years with the identical issue have been recalled.
The brake pedal went almost all the way down before brakes engaged. The brakes did not seem as effective in stopping. There was a risk of rolling into traffic or crashing into another car because I could not stop. Several warning lights come on including messages to "inspect brake system" and "Service advancetrac". A ford dealership has inspected the car and recommends replacing the Hydraulic Control Unit and the ABS Module. They say it is not covered under any recall.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle stalled. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that a mechanic went to the residence and diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE OR BE REIMBURSED WITH A VEHICLE OF EQUAL VALUE.
My Vehicle shut off while driving. When it shut off, the battery and the oil light flashed and then away. This incident occurred five times in one night. The car started to jerk right before each time it shut off, and I was driving less than 20 miles per hour. I could not accelerate nor press on the brakes to stop be vehicle. I took it to Southern Tire in Waldorf, MD, and no codes during the diagnostic were triggered in the system.
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and as I was approaching a red signal light I applied pressure to my brakes and seen my dash alert me of my ABS system failing and my advanced Trac needs to be serviced due to my brakes not working properly I was almost involved in a serious collision. i had to pull on my e brakes to prevent injury, in result off I pulled off into the nearest lot and called a tow truck to take me and my vehicle to the dealership I was given a crazy repair charge and i was doing some research and i seen a recall for this issue, however i was advised that my VIN does not have any recalls. This is unsafe and needs to be addressed.
When driving I am having to push my break peddle to the floor in order for my breaks to finally activate and begin to slow the car down if breaks will work at all at time. This is intermittent but is happening more often and has almost causing multiple wrecks. I was told it is the Hydraulic Control Module by a multiple professionals. This is also recalled on 2010 Ford Fusion models but does not include vehicle at the moment.
I was driving one night leaving my aunt’s house , as I’m exiting her apartment complex I noticed my car was rolling into the car while my foot was on the brake. I started to pump the brakes and nothing happened. I put the car in reverse and i mashed the brake to floor so I could stop the car. Once I put the car back in drive to exit, I started to proceed down the street and I came to a stop sign but my car too entirely too long to stop. There were no lights on in the dash. There was brake fluid in the car. The brake pads were in perfect condition. The brakes failed without any warning. I have changed the brake pads and bled them. I have replaced the master cylinder. I found out that there isn’t any issue with the booster. I replaced the ABS control module, nothing has changed. Still no brakes. I found out that this issue was fixed before I bought this car from the previous owner in late 2020 & it costed them about $1500 to fix. The car is not even worth that much. I did research and I found out that this is a common issue among 2010 Ford Fusions and there was a recall on the car back in December of 2019. Ford Motor Co. started sending letters out in January of 2020, obviously the recall window was not open very long. I contacted Ford about this issue and the only thing I was told was take it to the dealer and I’m like how when I can’t drive the car. Also, I’ve called every Ford dealer to ask for an quote to see how much it is to fix the issue and I was told I cannot receive an quote unless they can physically look at the car. I really how Ford does another recall before someone gets killed in a crash or seriously injured. This is totally ridiculous and I am disgusted with car.
I got warning messages for my brake system and AdvanceTrac system which is the ECS in 2010 Ford Fusion. This resulted in an almost complete loss of braking power. For the second time in the past 4 months, I've gotten simultaneous brake warning lights and service advancetrac warning lights when travelling <15mph. It also happened once about 3 or so years ago. This has resulted in an almost complete loss of braking power. I fully depress the brake pedal and the car barely slows down. I had to pull the ebrake the first time so I didn't roll through a stop sign into an intersection. It is incredibly dangerous. What if I was going faster? What if there was heavy traffic, a child in the street? If I was in a parking lot? This is death or injury waiting to happen. After turning the car off and on again, the warning lights go away and the brake system is back to normal. I have not taken it to the dealer yet. There is a recall for 2006-2010 Ford Fusions for a sticking ABS valve but my car was not included in that recall. Ford needs to recall ALL 2010-2012 Fusions for this problem.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond and went to the floorboard. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
While driving the brake pedal will go all the way down and not braking the car, I have to press harder to start slowing down Brake pedal has almost no pressure and its really hard to break, I read there was a recall over this issue on some cars, but I have not received any recall notice regarding this
Power steering advanced track. Needs to be a recall.on it
loss of power steering. errors are: power steering assist fault, service AdvanceTrac
A sudden problem happened when to make the brakes on our 2010 Fusion Hybrid work the pedal had to be pressed all the way to the floor. No warning lights came on until the problem surfaced. The warning lights say to check the AdvanceTrac system and the Brake sytem. The car was suddenly unsafe to drive, because if we had to brake quickly we would not be able to do so. A local Ford Service Shop said the HCU and ABS systems need replacing and will cost at least $2,400. This issue is similar to one that was subject to a recall, but our vehicle was not included in that recall. The car is at the Ford shop awaiting parts for repair.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed and the vehicle was not able to stop immediately. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The car started showing a power steering assist fault on the dash and I am unable to steer my vehicle. It went out upon returning home. Luckily I didn’t hurt anyone or myself. The vehicle is safely parked. Contacted ford and was advised this has been an ongoing issue with the year and model. It is also very common. Not sure why they haven’t recalled the part or parts due to the amount of complaints that have been made. I’m in the process of having my vehicle towed to ford for repair. I was advised it’s either the rack or the steering angle sensor.
About a month and half ago, I began experiencing issues with my brakes. They just would need to be pressed on more than the norm. I had the front brake pads replaced and still experienced the problem. I then took it to my local mechanic and they stated that the ABS module was faulty and needs to be replaced. I have experienced near crash incidents because of this.
Upon leaving for work began backing out of the driveway and found the "Power steering assist fault" displayed on my cluster. Tried to turn wheel to test and found power steering was lost (wheel would not turn). Turned off the car to see if it would reset itself. I had no luck. Drove the car around the block to verify the power steering was the only thing lost and car was very difficult to drive, especially navigating corners at lower speeds. Tried to unhook the battery in an attempt to reset the onboard ECUs. Also visually inspected 2x 50a Power steering fuses were in working order. Searched online and found 2011-2012 fusions were recalled, but the 2010 Fusion power steering assist fault has been under investigation for some time.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the service advance trac warning message displayed on the instrument panel as the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where he was informed that the sensor had failed and was then given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
Power Steering Assist fault. Common problem on 2010 Fusions. 2011 and 2012 already recalled for exact issue. Entire rack/pinion must be replaced. Quoted $2600.00 for parts and labor from a dealership.
A warning sound beeped multiple times while driving and a dash message appeared, “Power Steering Assist Fault”, and the steering wheel was stiff. There was a recall on the 2011 and newer, but 2010 has the same parts and everything so why wasn't this recall put on 2010 Ford Fusion. This needs to be readdressed and there should be a recall put out for the 2010 considering its a serious safety issue, and lots more people could be killed or injured to this faulty part on the car.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While attempting to park his vehicle, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard and failed to stop as needed. The ABS warning light had remained illuminated on the instrument panel for years prior to the failure. As a result of the failure, the contact hit a steel door which damaged both the door and the front end of his vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact experienced pain to his lower back but did not seek medical attention. Police were called to the scene and a police report was filed. The contact was able to drive away from the scene but continued to experience brake failure. He would also have to use his emergency brake to stop the vehicle as the ABS warning light continued to illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was informed that a defective brake module caused the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed him that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 250,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the ABS system was inoperable. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the parking brake was needed to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel. The contact stated that the fuel leak was evident whenever there was more than half of the fuel in the vehicle. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle overnight, there would be fuel on the ground underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed by the dealer that there was a glitch with his vehicle and there was nothing to be concerned about regarding the fuel pump. The contact stated that the dealer refused to service the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and promised to call back however, the contact had not yet received the call back. The failure mileage was 260,000.
Car is a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. With no prior warning, brakes went out and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor with almost no stopping power whatsoever. Dealer wants $2000 for ABS Module and HCU replacement. Ford has a warranty on this for some 2006-2010 models, so I don't know why my car is not covered under this warranty if it's happening to my car too.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after repairing an unknown recall, there was an abnormal noise coming from the A/C. In addition, the A/C was operating heat and not cool air and the contact mentioned the A/C failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the blow motor assembly, blow motor restore, and low-pressure valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 161,288.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal felt spongy. Additionally, the braking distance was extended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who changed the brake pads and bled the brake lines however, the failure persisted. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the ABS Hydraulic module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer who also stated that the ABS Hydraulic module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and they stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was 110,000.
Upon starting my car after getting off work, a warning sound beeped multiple times and a dash message appeared, “Power Steering Assist Fault”, and the steering wheel was stiff. When I began to pull out of my spot and try driving, an additional message with two accompanying warning lamps (exclamation point and swerving car icon) appeared, “Service Advancetrac”. I managed to drive home, albeit very difficult to control and maneuver safely. I brought it to my normal repair shop, who told me that the power steering module needs reprogrammed, and they can’t fix it but that I’ll need to take it to a Ford dealer to have this resolved. I visited this page to see if there had been any recalls for this issue, and clearly this is a major common occurrence, with an open investigation — hoping this will be approved as an official recall soon.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) needed to be replaced. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Brake pedal go's soft and down to the floor after ant-lock brakes are activated. Dealer may have unstuck a valve when bleeding the brakes which temporarily fixed the issue until anti-brakes were activated again and the brakes were soft again.
My vehicle was on and I was in motion heading to work when the wheel stopped turning and my car started saying “power steering assist fault”
I believe it is the Fuel System Throttle Body. Yes it is available for inspection. While driving on the freeway at 60 mph, and on city streets 30 mph, the car suddenly stalled out. The wrench warning light came on for about 3-5 seconds, but the car was already stalling out. This was a extreme danger to myself and all other drivers in my vicinity. I plan to have the vehicle inspected. No other inspection has been done. Wrench Warning Light came on about 3-5 seconds before car stalled out power seemed to decrease as I pressed the pedal.
When I went to deploy the brakes, they would not activate until I pushed the pedal hard and all the way to the floor. The dashboard lights then lit up indicating an ABS issue. The braking distance went from normal to 4-6 times further as a result. I almost hit the truck in front of me. This happens intermittently and without any notice. I called the local Ford dealership and asked about the situation. They said there was no recall on 2010 Ford Fusions for braking issues. So, they will not cover expenses related to any repairs. I researched recalls and found that the braking system in 2010 Ford Fusion is supposed to be covered under a recall. I also have not received any recall notice related to braking on my 2010 Ford Fusion, as part of the recall. The Ford internal reference number for this recall is 19S54. The NHTSA identifier is 19V904.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop as needed but was independently decelerating. The contact stated that he depressed the brake pedal twice and then the vehicle started to operate normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was experiencing the failure stated in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 263,904.
The vehicle has an electronic assisted steering system. On many occasions when starting the vehicle the electronic steering system does not engage and it is extremely hard to turn the front wheels. This is increasing in frequency. On 2 occasions the electronic steering stopped working while the vehicle was in motion making a turn. It was very hard for me to steer the car and I am 230 Lbs and 6 foot tall until the electronic steering re-engaged. If my wife was driving the vehicle I have no doubt that she would end up losing control. She is no longer driving this vehicle because of this issue. The car has been garaged most of it's life and only has about 51, 000 miles on it. It is my understanding that Ford had the same issue on the same car in the 2011 model year. My personal mechanic inspected the vehicle and diagnosed this issue,. There are no warnings when this will occur.
Your system won't allow me to make any remarks it's going black and I can't see whats been written
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid down the highway when suddenly i was unable to steer anymore. I was changing lanes and the wheel locked at an angle causing me to cross multiple lanes of traffic and eventually hitting another car. The car ended up being claimed as a total loss. I am still required to pay more for insurance now because the accident was caused because of my cars steering rack failing and locking. There have been hundreds of complaints describing exactly what happened to me. No warning lights or any other warning signs. Just sudden and total failure. Its more upsetting knowing that the 2011 and 2012 model years had a recall for this but the 2010 did not even though the steering rack has the same exact part numbers. Insurance didnt even do an investigationand i was told it was because theres no way to investigate it after the crash which i know is a lie. I absolutely hate the fact that im still affected by this financially and ford doesnt care at all about the people it has happened to.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact slowed the vehicle by manually changing gears. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
UNKNOWN power steering stopped working about a year ago while leaving to go to work and has been garaged ever since due to not being able to take to get worked on Pot hole was hit 1-2 days prior going about 15-20 mph has not been inspected and no warning lights or messages were on didn't have an accident and only have liability insurance
Brake system failure.
Driving on a highway the warning came on the dash that the power steering assist failed and the power steering was out. Luckily the road was fairly straight and was able to to keep control of the car. Once off the highway and in town needing to steer home, that's when it was a real pain to drive.
Electric power steering fault. Power steering is hard to turn. 2011 and 2012 have recalled approved for the same thing but why not for a 2010??
Intermittent failure of brake system. While driving the brakes stopped working. Needed to push brake pedal to ground and/or use parking brake. Turned off car. Waited 30 seconds. Started car again and brakes worked. Worked fine for ~ 1 week and then occurred again. Worked fine for ~1 year and then period of not working.
I recently took in my car for the soft pedal recall. I never had any of the issues that were affecting some however now, I am getting problems similar to the soft pedal. When stopping it feels like the brake goes in quite a few inches before actually engaging to slow the speed. This is become very dangerous with the recent snow, it's almost impossible to predict the correct pressure to slow down my speed without sliding. There are no warning lights or any indicators prior to the failure.
The contact's wife owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal went to the floorboard and the brakes failed to engage immediately. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed with a stuck valve. The contact was informed that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but denied the repair coverage due to the VIN not being included in any recalls. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.
