TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING LOST POWER. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST DISABLED LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE PITTSVILLE FORD DEALER, LOCATED IN PITTSVILLE, MD, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I FOUND THERE WAS NO LONGER POWER STEERING. THE LIGHT FOR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON
ON AUG 1ST MY WIFE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE WHILE STATIONARY. THE DASH INDICATED A SERVICE REQUIRED TO THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS BACK IN AUGUST OF 2018. FOLLOWING THAT FIRST INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED & REPAIRED AT QUIRK FORD OF AUGUSTA MAINE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 15S18 RECALL. THE POWER STEERING RACK WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAULTY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING RACK AND REPROGRAMMED THE PSCM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF AN EXCESSIVE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES LATER AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND CONTACTED J.C. LEWIS FORD HINESVILLE (309 W. OGLETHORPE HWY, HINESVILLE, GA 31313, (912)257-4833) WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
I PURCHASED 2011 FUSION 8 MOS AGO. CURRENTLY HAS 56K MILES. STEERING HAS BECOME AN ISSUE WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE TURNS WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE THE 2011 FUSION DOES HAVE A RECALL, MY VIN IS EXCLUDED. I CONTACTED FORD WHO ESSENTIALLY INDICATED THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLE. DEALER COST TO REPAIR: $2800.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THIS MAKES THE CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND MAKES TIGHT TURNS IMPOSSIBLE. I FEAR THAT THIS WILL CAUSE GREAT DIFFICULTY FOR DRIVERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH UPPER BODY STRENGTH ISSUES, AS THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR MAKE TURNS. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AT THE TIME, BUT IF THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, IT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 55MPH A GRINDING NOISE CAME OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND CAUSED THE CAR TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND BACK IN DRIVE MAKING IT TO A PARKING LOT WHERE IT WAS ACTING LIKE THE BRAKE WAS BEING ENGAGED AND DISENGAGED. GOT.IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE SHOP AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PTU WAS BAD CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP ALL OF SUDDEN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FORD AWD FAMILY OT VEHICLES.
ON 7/23/20 I STARTED MY CAR AND THE MESSAGE APPEARED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN THE MESSAGE DIDN'T COME UP AGAIN & THE STEERING WORKED. I SAW THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS BACK IN 2015 BUT I NEVER GOT A RECALL NOTICE. WITHOUT A RECALL THIS REPAIR IS $1800.
WHEN PULLING INTO WORK I GOT A WARNING ON MY CAR SAYING 'SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW'. I WENT TO LEAVE FROM WORK THE NEXT MORNING AND I WASN'T ABLE TO STEER. A FRIEND OF MINE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP THAT HIS FRIEND OWNS AND HE PLUGGED IT INTO THE COMPUTER. A PART ON MY RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. I HAD NOTICED THAT THERE HAD BEEN PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR THE POWER STEERING AND I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR SINCE 2/28/2020.
II WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP THE CAR. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. I HAD TO CONTINUE TO PUMP THE BRAKES ANY TIME I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. I STOPPED DRIVING THE CAR AS THE BRAKES ARE NOW UNRELIABLE BUT I AM TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALER TODAY FOR REPAIR. WHEN THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON.
THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE 2011 FORD FUSION, HOWEVER, I PUT MY VIN INTO FORD'S SYSTEM TO ACCESS THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE RECALL, AND IT DOES NOT COME UP. THE 2011 FORD FUSION AND OTHER YEARS WERE RECALLED BY FORD, YET IT DOESN'T SHOW FOR MY CAR. I NEED THIS REPAIR COMPLETED, AS THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE IN ITS CURRENT STATE. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE CITY STREETS AND THE HIGHWAY, IT LOST ALL STEERING CONTROL. I WAS IN FEAR OF MY LIFE. I COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAD TO MANEUVER TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO COME TO A STOP. I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR FOR LONG, YET IT SITS IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE AND UNDRIVEABLE. I NEED TO KNOW WHY MY 2011 FORD FUSION IS NOT COVERED. FORD KNEW ABOUT THE FAULTY STEERING RACKS IN THESE VEHICLES AND REFUSE TO REPAIR OR OFFER A REMEDY FOR SOME OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR VEHICLES.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHEN IN MOTION. SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW SERVICE ADVANTRAC SYSTEM LIGHTS COME ON
I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND RECEIVED MESSAGE THE POWER STEERING IS DISABLED. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY VOLUNTARILY REPLACED MODULE IN 2015. WILL NOT REPAIR NOW .
WHILE DRIVING TO A STOP I BRAKED AND ALL ABS , TRACTION CONTROL, ETC LIGHTS CAME ON SUDDENLY AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND COULDN'T STOP. SO I PULLED EMERGENCY BRAKE AND SKID INTO TRAFFIC , LUCKILY MISSED OTHER VEHICLES

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THOROUGHBRED FORD LOCATED AT 8501 N BOARDWALK AVE, KANSAS CITY, MO 64154, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR AND PINION WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 184,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became firm with the "Service Power Steering Now" and "Service Advancetrac" messages displayed on the instrument panel. The contact notified the dealer and the manufacturer about the failure and was informed that the vehicle was no longer covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The steering rack and pinion had been repaired twice for the same failure; however, the failure recurred after each failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 140,400.
BRAKES INTERMITTENTLY DO NOT COMPLETELY ENGAGE AFTER VEHICLE IS INITIALLY STARTED. BRAKES FEEL SOFT AND FEELS LIKE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE. PROBLEM LASTS ABOUT 30-45 SECONDS AFTER VEHICLE IS STARTED. *TR
MY CAR SAID. SERVICE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. THEN NOT EVEN 5 MINUTES LATER I COULD NO LONGER TURN THE WHE AND HIT A CURB AND BROKE MY RIM. I WAS NOT GOING OVER 35 MPH AND CAN NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. NOW IT SAYS SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW
2011 FORD FUSION SEL, 97,800 MILES. BREAK PEDAL EXCESSIVE TRAVEL INCIDENT # 1, APPROXIMATELY APRIL TIME FRAME. BRAKE FLUID FLUSH WAS PERFORMED. INCIDENT # 2, 7 WEEKS LATER, DRIVING STRAIGHT ROAD DECELERATING FROM 45 MPH AND BRAKING FOR A RED LIGHT WITH CARS AHEAD, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, FINALLY CAUGHT AT BOTTOM. VEHICLE IS NOW AT FORD DEALER, RECOMMENDATION WAS TO REPLACE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AT A COST OF $1,000.00. REPAIRS ARE PROCEEDING. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE IDENTIFIED IN SAFETY RECALL 19S54 - ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT VALVE FUNCTION - 2006 - 2010 FOR LINCOLN & MERCURY. UNDER NHTSA COMPLAINTS FOR 2011 FORD FUSION - SERVICE BRAKES (AND HYDRAULIC), 98 CASES ARE REGISTERED WITH A VERY HIGH PERCENTAGE OF THE CASES IDENTIFYING EXCESSIVE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL. I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT 2011 AND POSSIBLE 2012 MODEL YEARS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. FAILURE MODE WAS IDENTIFIED AS HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVES WITHIN THE HCU EXPERIENCE CORROSION AND BECOME STUCK. THE BRAKES OPERATE FINE WHEN THEY ARE WORKING, BUT THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE TRUSTED DUE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM INTERMITTENT BEHAVIOR. *TR
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. MY POWER STEERING HAS FAILED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE NOTED DATE OF THIS COMPLAINT (06/21/2020). THE REMEDY ALWAYS WAS THE SAME, TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT. THIS TIME IT HAS FAILED FOR GOOD. SINCE FORD DOES NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR MY VIN NUMBER I AM FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE A FAULTY PART. I HAVE SCOURED THE WEB AND SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OTHERS FORD OWNERS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. THEY MORE OR LESS SAY THE SAME THING "NOBODY CAN HELP US". I BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS CHERRY PICKED WHICH VEHICLES THEY WANTED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR, IN ORDER TO DO THE BARE MINIMUM. PLEASE HELP. WHILE DRIVING, BRAKES WILL INTERMITTENTLY HAVE EXCESSIVE TRAVEL. CAR EVENTUALLY DOES STOP BUT IT DOES REQUIRE INCREASED PEDAL TRAVEL AND INCREASED EFFORT ON THE DRIVER'S PART. SOMETIMES IT IS SELF CORRECTING BUT CURRENTLY IT IS STILL HAPPENING AND HAS NOT SELF-DIRECTED. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE AND HIT A POTHOLE. AFTER WE HAD THE POTHOLE THE BRAKING ISSUE BEGAN. I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR BUT IT USUALLY SELF CORRECTS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH AND IT HAS NOT CORRECTED ITSELF YET.
POWER STEERING DEFAULT -WHEEL LOCKS -THIS KEEPS HAPPENING-I RAN INTO A DITCH ONCE-ONCE I WAS GETTING ON INTERSTATE-TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T GET CODE-I REALLY DON'T' KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW BECAUSE THIS KEEPS HAPPENING-I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR-WHEN YOU CALL CORPORATE THEY ACT LIKE IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE GOING AROUND A LOOP APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN MY POWER STEERING ASSIST CUTOUT. THE POWER ASSIST FAULT AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNINGS SHOWED ON THE DASH. AS I CAME TO THE END OF THE TURN I NEARLY OVERSTEERED DUE TO THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT IT SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED ON MANY OF THE 2011-2013 FUSIONS. NO RECALL WAS EVER ISSUED TO MY CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE.
WHILE TURNING AND GOING SLOW THE STEERING MAKES A VERY BAD CREAKING SOUND THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE. HAVE NOTICED MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON FUSIONS AND NOBODY KNOWS A FIX. TAIL LIGHT MELTS WITHIN ITS HOUSING WHILE DRIVING.
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE LUG NUTS NOW ON THIS CAR DUE TO SWELLING AND CORROSION. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I'VE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE OVER $3000 OF STEERING GEARS AFTER ONLY OWNING IT FOR TWO DAYS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. *TR
I got this 2011 Ford fusion in 2020. The car runs good, but after a couple stops or when I'm slowing down the car turns off and my battery drains. I've replaced the battery, alternator, new shifter, I've taken it to mechanics and they can't figure out the problem, the car still turns off. Please help
THE CAR HAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS IN RMISC-19V904-0442. BRAKES GET SPONGY AND INEFFECTIVE AFTER ABS ACTIVATION DUE TO A STICKY VALVE. FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THIS RECALL AT LEAST TO 2006-2012 AND PROBABLY ALSO TO MAZDA3'S WHICH USE THE SAME BRAKE PARTS. DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE MALFUNCTION. CAN'T OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE. HAD TO ROLL WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. SAW MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME THING.
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. ALSO THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM IS SHOWING. I KNOW THERE WERE RECALLS ON THE 2012 FORD FUSION IN 2015. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES TO ME AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. 3 TIMES IT FAILED THEN CAME BACK WORKING BUT NOW DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 55 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver with the “steering assist fault” warning displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that she pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that he called the Ford dealer who informed him to turn the vehicle off and restart. The contact stated that the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic for diagnoses or repairs. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred in August of 2021 at that time the vehicle was turned off and on and operated normally. Again, the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnoses or repairs. The contact stated, however, in December of 2021 the failure occurred, and this time the steering wheel failure failed to correct itself. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed and the power steering control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and found NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was outside of the 10 year/150,000 miles to be repaired under the recall. The contact stated a case was opened with the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN 45 MPH FRONT END T-BONE CRASH TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FORD FUSION. THE 2011 FORD FUSION WAS PREVIOUS REPAIRED FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG FAULT BUT FAILED TO DEPLOY CAUSING MY WIFE NERVE DAMAGE AND ADDITIONAL INJURES THAT ARE STILL BEING EVALUATED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE FAULT AS I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS / COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE / THE AIR BAGS STILL NOT DEPLOYING AFTER THE FIX.. THANK YOU*DT*JB *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT WHO STATED THE ELECTRIC STEERING WHEEL RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACT AND A CASE WAS OPENED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING).

THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND ON OTHER FORDS WITH THIS ELECTRONIC/ELECTRICAL STEERING. A FUSION MODEL WAS SUBJECT TO A SAFETY RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE GENERAL RECALL FOR ALL FUSIONS AND FORDS WITH THIS TYPE STEERING.

MY FORD FUSION HYBRID HAS RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING AS A HYBRID AND RUNS MAINLY ON THE GAS ENGINE. AFTER REVIEWING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE BY OTHER OWNERS, I NOW UNDERSTAND THAT THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY (HVB) SEEMS TO BE PRE-PROGRAMMED TO BECOME INOPERABLE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 9 YEARS EVEN THOUGH THERE IS REALLY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY.
