POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WHILE DRIVING; UNABLE TO STEER WITHOUT GREAT DIFFICULTY ALSO TRACTION FAILURE WARNING. IT HAS HAPPENED FIVE OR SIX TIMES AND IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND IN AGAIN IT RESOLVES THE PROBLEM SHORT TERM BUT AS OF YESTERDAY THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND I WILL NEED TO BRING TO A DEALER FIR A REPAIR THAT COULD COST UPWARDS OF $2000 VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS FROM FORD AS I'VE READ NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS HAPPENING WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. ON THREE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE ADVANCETRAC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO METRO FORD SALES AND SERVICE (LOCATED AT 6455 WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60636 (773) 776-7600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED BACK TO METRO FORD SALES AND SERVICE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FOX FORD LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 2501 N ELSTON AVE, CHICAGO IL, 60647 (888) 380-8568). IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
POWER STEERING QUIT MAKING CAR UNSAFE, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. WAS ABLE TO GET CAR HOME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ATTEMPTING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING ABILITY SEIZED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING AND TRAC FAILURE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (GERMAIN FORD IN COLUMBUS, OHIO) TO BE REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL IN JANUARY OF 2017. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR EVENTUALLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,895. UPDATED 12/13/17 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE REPAIRS AMOUNTED TO $1,600. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. *JS *BF *JS
WHEN I AM DRIVING OUT OF THE BLUE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST COMES ON AND THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKS UP. IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY SPEED AND ANYWHERE.
DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH FAILED. CANNOT EXIT VEHICLE WITHOUT ROLLING DOWN DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND OPENING EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE.
I AM WRITING TO YOU IN HOPES THAT YOU CAN HELP ME. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED . I AM THE OWNER OF A 2011 FORD FUSION S WHICH I BOUGHT NEW IN 2010. MY VIN IS [XXX]. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL FORD OWNER FOR DECADES. YESTERDAY (TUESDAY AUGUST 15, 2016) I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF MY POWER STEERING. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC THINKING IT WAS A BELT OR SOMETHING ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT MY CAR HAS SOMETHING CALLED AN ELECTRONIC RACK AND PINION. FURTHERMORE I WAS TOLD THAT FORD FUSIONS HAVE A RECALL HISTORY REGARDING THIS VERY ISSUE ?ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM?. I OBTAINED A COPY OF THE RECALL AND CALLED MY DEALER (STONEHAM FORD IN STONEHAM, MA) WHO TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL WAS VIN SPECIFIC AND THAT EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS THE EXACT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AFFECTED I WAS NOT BE COVERED DUE TO THE VIN NUMBER. I WAS FURTHER TOLD THAT THIS REPAIR COULD TOP $2,000.00 PARTS AND LABOR. I AM DEVASTATED. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS NOTED IN THE FORD RECALL 15S18 BUT AM BEING BYPASSED DUE TO A VIN NUMBER???? I AM REQUESTING YOUR ASSISTANCE IN LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER. THIS ISSUE CORRESPONDS TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. I JUST TOOK MY FUSION IN TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AT 50K MILES, THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AT 100K MILES, AND I CAN GUESS WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY ALSO JUST REPLACED THE PART. I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT'S LISTED IN NHTSA REMEDY WRITE UP, BUT THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO SOFTWARE UPDATE IN THEIR SYSTEM. MERELY REPLACING ONE DEFECTIVE PART WITH AN IDENTICAL DEFECTIVE PART IS NOT THE SOLUTION, IT JUST KICKS THE PROBLEM DOWN THE ROAD.
ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ..

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ABILITY FAILED AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW AND ADVANCE TRACK INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE MESSAGE CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER (TED BRITT FORD IN CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SENSOR FAILURE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL, WHICH STOPPED AT 150,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
HAD BRAKES SERVICED, NEW PADS, ROTORS, ETC. A FEW MONTHS LATER NOTICED BRAKE PRESSURE LOST AT TIMES, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. TOOK BACK IN TO SHOP, COMPONENTS STATED AS OK. PROBLEM PERSISTS. NOTICED THAT IT HAPPENS AFTER A STOP WHERE ABS IS ACTIVATED, THEN NEXT BRAKE ACTIVATION HAS LOW PEDAL. ALSO SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN REVERSE. NOT SAFE, CAR STOP TIME INCREASES WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS THE ABS HYDRAULIC MODULE PROBLEM THAT IS ALREADY UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR AT LEAST 2007-2009. MY 2011 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. CAR IS AT FORD DEALER NOW.

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED A WARNING LIGHT FLASHED FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THE DEALER (SUMMERVILLE FORD, 9700 DORCHESTER RD, SUMMERVILLE, SC 29485, (877) 477-1434) STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE REMEDY DUE TO THE MILEAGE AND THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHY THEY REFUSED THE POWER STEERING RECALL BUT MADE NO MENTION OF THE AIR BAG RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE WHEN THEY MIGHT PROVIDE THE SOLUTION FOR BOTH RECALL REPAIRS TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING ASSIST ON MY CAR. I TOOK THE CAR FOR SERVICING TO FORD. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE MADE UNLESS THE STEERING WENT OUT. ALSO, I WAS TOLD THE STEERING SYSTEM HAD TO FAIL BEFORE 160,000 MILES. LATER THE POWER STEERING FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AT 161,000 MILES. WOW!. UNACCEPTABLE THAT FORD WILL NOT REPAIR THIS VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL NOTICE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TEAM FORD LINCOLN (905 BRADY AVE, STEUBENVILLE, OH 43952) FOR AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE FAILURE RECURRED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE THE CONTACT $1,576 FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY PERFORM A RECALL REPAIR ONCE AND/OR UP TO 12,000 MILES. THE DEALER ADMITTED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE MADE WITH RE-MANUFACTURED PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR A THIRD TIME AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *CW *JS
THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING 3 TIME WITHIN 3 MONTH PERIOD. THE CAR IS ALWAYS STATIONARY WHEN IT HAPPENS. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON. THIS TIME THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN OFF FOR 7 DAYS. IT ALWAYS HAS THE POWER STEERING FAILURE ASSIST SIGN AND THE HAZARD CAR SIGN ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BROUGHT IT AND THEIR MACHINE SAID CODE U-3000-96 CONTROL MODULE INTERNAL FAIL. THEY RECOMMENDED I TAKE IT TO THE FORD CO. I ALSO CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURE 1-800 # AND SHE TOLD ME IT WAS RECALLED AND FIXED IN 8/2015 AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT GETTING FIXED. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME FORD DEALER THAT DID THE RECALL SERVICE. TODAY, THEY TOLD ME THE WHOLE POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAS TO BE REPLACED. $1600 PLUS REPAIR. DO I HAVE ANY OPTIONS OF GETTING MY MONEY BACK FROM THE FORD MANUFACTURE?
2011 FORD FUSION DRIVER SIDE DOOR WONT OPEN FROM INSIDE WHEN STATIONARY ON 7/24/2017 OUT OF NOWHERE THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE I HAVE LOOKED UP THIS COMPLAINT AND MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL CAR. FORD DID A RECALL FOR 2010 AND 2013-2014 MODELS BUT NOT FOR THE 2011 MODELS. WHEN YOU GO PULL THE DOOR HANDLE THE DOOR DOESN'T OPEN AND I HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON 7/26/2017 TO GET FIXED AND THE PERSON THAT HELPED SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS MULTIPLE OTHER TIMES WITH THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE. WHY HAS THIS ISSUE NOT BEEN LOOKED INTO? I'M REQUESTING A REFUND OF THE AMOUNT OF THE BILL WHICH WAS $257 DOLLARS, IF I NEED TO PROVIDED ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PLEASE EMAIL ME.
ADVANCED TRACK POWER STEERING FAILURE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE RECALL REPAIR AND IT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN.

THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE ELECTRIC FUNCTION OR ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN TO OPEN THE DOORS. THE DEALER (TED BRITT FORD OF FAIRFAX, VA) REPLACED THE LATCHES, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WITH ANY OF THE OTHER LATCHES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM ANY RECALL CAMPAIGN WITH NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN REPLACING THE PART. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,208.
TAKETA RECALL AIR BAGS NOT AVAILABLE STILL IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE RECALL ISSUED AND I KEEP CALLING FOR REPAIR THIS IS PUTTING MY FAMILY AND MYSELF IN JEOPARDY EVEN RIDING OR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHICH WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR.
THE LATCH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT FUNCTION, CAUSING THE DOOR TO FLY OPEN WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. EVEN WHEN CLOSED AND LOCKED, WHEN YOU OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THE DOOR UNLOCKS AN DOOR OPENS. IT IS CURRENTLY AT FORD TO BE FIXED. THERE HAS BEEN PREVIOUS RECALLS ON THE 2013 FUSION, AND THIS CAR IS NOT LISTED AS A RECALL??? SEEMS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM TO ME, AND IT IS COSTLY TO FIX! CURRENTLY AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN DELAWARE.
POWERSTEERING AND TCS FAILURE. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET REPAIRED AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE STEERING RACK AND PINION. A WEEK LATER PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND NOW THEY'RE QUOTING ME $1000.00 FOR ANOTHER SERVICE CLAIMING IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. ISSUE OCCURRED AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I-35 PLACING MY LIFE IN DANGER.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (MCCROCKLIN FORD IN MIDDLETOWN, IN, 888-482-1496) AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE KNOW ABOUT MY AIR BAG FOR OVER A YEAR. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT FORD, BUT I AM TOLD THAT I NEED TO WAIT FOR A LETTER FROM TAKATA.. IT'S HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR THAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR.
WHEN TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY THE CAR SHIFTS HARD AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE THRODDLE BODY WHEN ASKED TO. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS. I ALSO SUGGESTED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE LAST YEAR. I PURCHASED A NEW CAR.
THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING, IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER AND CONTROL. IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS A RECALL. IT FAILED AGAIN AND ON 7/30/2016 THE STEER GEAR WAS CHANGED. YESTERDAY IT FAILED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD BE VERY HARMFUL. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR WITH MY FAMILY.
2011 FORD FUSION POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH PARKING LOT. FIRST RECEIVED MULTIPLE FAILURE MESSAGES AT THIS TIME POWER STEERING STOPPED FUNCTIONING COMPLETELY. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS MAKE/MODEL AND YEAR. RECALL COVERS VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AT THE HERMOSILLO PLANT IN MEXICO FROM SEPTEMBER 7 2010 AND ON. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED SEPTEMBER 6 2010 (ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE RECALL) AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS I FOUND; FORD WOULD NOT HELP. AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS FURTHER I FOUND THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH MANY OWNERS. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM FORD SAID THEIR HANDS WERE TIED UNTIL NTSB DIRECTS THEM TO MODIFY THE RECALL DATES. I WAS LUCKY. THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT MUCH WORSE HAD MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD. UNSATISFACTORY RESPONSE FROM FORD. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
SUPPLEMENTAL TO NHSTA 11V574000, MY 2011 FORD FUSION FWD CONTINUES TO SUFFER WHEEL STUD FRACTURE. A TOTAL OF 5 STUDS HAVE FRACTURED, 2 PRIOR TO RECALL AND NOW 3 STUDS AFTER RECALL AND COMPLETE STUD REPLACEMENT. I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES UPON REQUEST, THE LATEST WAS A DAY AGO WITH 142,525MILES.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS LOW SPEEDS AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO STEER LEFT OR RIGHT. FORD PRIME OF AUBURN, MASSACHUSETTS WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE OF WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER THE RECALL BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
CAR IS A LEMON RECALL REPAIR WAS DONE IN JUNE 2016 FOR RECALL NUMBER 15S18. I PURCHASE THE CAR IN NOV 2016. AND HAVE LOST STEERING POWER TO VEHICLE TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS PAST THE MILAGE AND COULD NOT BE COVERED WANT TO CHARGE ME 1500 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS REPAIRED DUE TO RECALL CALL FORD CORP. THEY SAID SAME THING.
WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING ON MY DAUGHTER'S CAR WAS RECALLED. SHE WAS SITING IN A PARKING LOT AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" LIGHT CAME ON AND SHE COULDN'T STEER THE CAR. SO SHE CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND THEY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. AFTER A WHOLE DAY, THE DEALER INFORMED US THAT THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND THAT WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY $1300 FOR A NEW RACK AND PINON BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE BUT IT WAS LOCATED ON THIS "BRACKET" AND THEY DON'T COVER THAT. THEN WHEN MY HUSBAND WENT DOWN THERE, THEY INFORMED HIM THAT FORD WON'T FIX THE PART BECAUSE SHE WAS OVER THE MILEAGE AND TIME FRAME. SHE HAD BEEN TELLING US THAT THE CAR WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT REALLY BAD, WHICH IS ALSO A REASON FOR THIS ISSUE. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED FROM A USED CAR DEALER. HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THERE WAS EVEN A RECALL ON IT LET ALONE A TIME LIMIT? I HAVE DONE RESEARCH TO FIND THAT MANY ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY PART AND FORD REFUSES TO FIX THEM? HOW IS THIS SAFE? I DO NOT WANT MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER GETTING IN A WRECK DUE TO FAULTY STEERING AND KILLING HERSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!! THIS IS NOT THE FIRST OF THIS ISSUE BEING REPORTED EITHER. I CAN'T BELIEVE FORD HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND THAT EVERYDAY ACCIDENTS COULD HAPPEN BECAUSE OF IT. THIS COULD KILL SOMEONE! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND THERE IS STILL NO SOLUTION.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT NOTICE CAME UP AND FELT TIGHT STEERING. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED WITH THE SAME NOTICE. HAD TO KEEP DRIVING WITH OUT POWER STEERING. IT HAS NOW BEEN OUT FOR 3 DAYS. FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ON THE 2011 FORD FUSION BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED IN THIS RECALL. WHY NOT. SAME ISSUE AS RECALL. I AM VERY LUCKY I DIDN'T CRASH. FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS MORE LIKE ME. FORD DOESN'T WANT TO PAY TO HAVE ALL VEHICLES WITH EPAS RECALLED. NOW THEY WANT TO STICK ME WITH THE BILL WHIS IS 1/4 OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS MAUFACTURED 07/10 AND HAS ONLY 37500 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY CITY STREET DURING RUSH HOUR WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR JERKING WHEN IT CHANGED GEARS. THE RPM WOULD SHOOT UP HIGH THEN BACK DOWN WHILE LOSING POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I MANAGED TO GET TO AN AUTO ADVANCE STORE WHERE I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE SINCE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME BACK WITH CODE PO455 TWICE AND PO457 TWICE. IT WAS THEN EXPLAINED THAT TOO MUCH AIR WAS GETTING INTO MY FUEL SYSTEM. I PROCEEDED TO GO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS A HALF MILE AWAY. ON THE WAY, MY CAR CONTINUED TO JERK AND LOOSE POWER AND SOME POINTS. THEN EVERYTHING DIGITAL WHICH ONE DISPLAYS MY MILEAGE AND THE OTHER DISPLAYS HOW MANY MILE TILL EMPTY DISPLAYED INTERMITTENT LINES AND THE WRENCH ILLUMINATED ON MY DASHBOARD. AT THIS TIME MY CAR WAS ON BUT QUICKLY LOST POWER TO GO FORWARD. IT ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I PUT ON MY TURN SIGNAL AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF MY CAR WAITED A FEW MINUTES THE TURNED BACK ON AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE ENGINE JUST REVVED UP LIKE I HAD IT IN NEUTRAL. I PUT IT BACK IN PARK THEN PUT IT IN REVERSE. THE CAR WOULD OPERATE IN REVERSE. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE BATTERY ACID ON MY POSITIVE TERMINAL THAT HAD EATEN THROUGH THE WIRING HARNESS. HAD TO HAVE HARNESS AND BATTERY REPLACED. I STILL NOTICE ISSUES OF BATTERY ACID ACCUMULATING AROUND THE SCREWS ON THE BATTERY HARNESS AND POSITIVE LEAD AGAIN.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST GEAR INTERMITTENTLY FAILS CAUSING THE STEERING ON THE VEHICLE TO BE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILS AT INTERSECTIONS THIS CAR BECOMES SLUGGISH IN STEERING RESPONSE. I FEAR THIS WILL RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS FORD FUSION ONLY HAS 120K MILES. THIS VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE THE FORD POWER STEERING ASSIST GEAR RECALL RANGE AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE (RYAN) STATED THIS PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND STATED THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE.
THE CAR HAD FEW RECALLS AND FEW WARRANTIES ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASE THE CAR. FOR THE SPECIFIC, RIGHT NOW, MY CAR HAS A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT " FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE MODEL FUSION YEAR 2011 RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM, THAT IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK IN PLACE. FORTUNATELY MINE LOCKED WHEN I START THE CAR. I HAD AAA TOWED MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC, AND THEN FROM THERE TO THE FORD DEALER BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T HELP MY MECHANIC WITH INFORMATION UNLESS THE CAR WAS AT THEIR LOCATION FOR A DIAGNOSIS ( THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR IT), A DIAGNOSIS THAT MY MECHANIC DID FOR FREE. NOW, THE RECALL THAT FORD HAS IN PLACE DO NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE, THEY SAID THAT THE VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND THAT IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT: SO WE ARE LOOKING AT THE SAME MODEL, SAME YEAR, SAME SPECIFIC PROBLEM.... BUT THEY REFUSE TO EXTEND THE RECALL TO MINE! THE REPAIR, WHICH BTW, IS NOT A PART OF A VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, REPLACE OR MAINTAIN IN THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE, WILL COST OVER $3,000....... I CANNOT REPAIR THE CAR. FORD CS, SUGGEST ME TO REPAIR THE CAR, TELLING ME TO SAVE THE RECEIPT IN CASE FORD DECIDE TO EXTEND THE RECALL. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS OFFERED 10% DISCOUNT.... WOW I AM A SINGLE MOM, HAVE A SPECIAL NEED SON, LOST MY LONG TIME ( 17 1/2 YEARS) JOB, AND WORK ONLY PART TIME ... I AM DESPERATE! I NEED TO HAVE THE CAR WORKING, I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT MUCH MONEY AND I THINK THAT THIS IS INSANE !! THE DEALER AND THE FORD CS TOLD ME THAT THEY CANNOT SHARE THEIR FINDINGS WITH THE CUSTOMER, BUT ONLY THE DECISION, WHICH IS TO NOT INCLUDE THE VEHICLE IN THE RECALL.

I HAVE A 2011 FORD FUSION. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND LOST CONTROL OF THE POWER STEERING. I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL AND HAD NO POWER STEERING ABILITIES. SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS NO LONGER AN ALERT ON THE BOARD AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. I PULLED UP TO WALMART AND WENT IN THEN CAME OUT STARTED MY CAR AND IT STARTED BEEPING. IT READ ON THE TASK POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND THE STEREO ING WAS HARD AND TIGHT. I GOOGLED IT ONLINE AND SEE. IT HAD A RECALL SO I CALLED THE RECALL CENTER THEY ASKED ME HOW MANY MILES I HAD ON IT AND I TOLD THEM 168,000 AND THEN THEY SAID TO TOE IT TO A FORD CENTER RAND IT WILL BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE AND ALSO I'LL GET MY TOE MONEY BACK. BUT AFTER THE SERVICE GUYS TRIED TO RESET THE ELECTRIC STEERING MODULE THEY REALIZED IT WAS ALREADY BROKE AND BURNT UP. THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME IT WILL BE 1700 TO FIX IT. THAT I HAD TO PAY. I SAID NO IT'S A RECALL THE RECALL CENTER SAID IT WAS FREE. I GUESS IT'S NOT FREE. DAY A EVERYONE I CALLED AT FORD REFUSES TO PAY FOR IT. EVEN THO IT'S A RECALL. I'M SO UPSET. THEY SAID IF I WAS WITHIN 150,00 ON MY CAR THEY WOULD PAY. BUT I'M NOT.

UPON STARTING THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT COMES ON AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE STEERING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. UPON TURNING OFF THE KEY AND ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE THERE IS SOMETIMES, BUT NOT ALWAYS POWER STEERING ASSIST. HAVE ALSO HAD A FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING WHICH COULD BE CATASTROPHIC AND DANGEROUS. WHILE DRIVING HAD TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC SO THE KEY COULD BE TURNED OFF AND ENGINE RESTARTED TO GAIN POWER STEERING ASSIST AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THERE ARE NOT PHOTOS TO UPLOAD RELATED TO THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME.
