THE ENGINE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED. THE SPEED OF THE CAR WENT FROM 45 MPH TO 0 IN AN INSTANT. THEN THE ENTIRE CAR POWERED OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AS THIS HAPPENED AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN WITH KEYS IN IGNITION. STARTED TO DRIVE AND THE SAME SERIES OF EVENTS HAPPENED AGAIN AND MY CAR COMPLETELY POWERED OFF. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO FORD MALCOLM CUNNINGHAM ON 8/26/13. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT CAUSED THE ISSUES. I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR WHICH ONLY COVERED THE ACTUAL PART AND NOT THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REP, [XXX], SAID THAT THEY RECOMMENDED I ALSO FLUSH THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. SHE ALSO SAID THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FUSIONS AND ESCAPES, AS SHE HAD ANOTHER PERSON IN THERE FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON AN ESCAPE. FORD NEEDS TO REALIZE THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND ISSUE A RECALL ASAP! I CANNOT BELIEVE MY CAR IS PRACTICALLY NEW AND I'M OUT OF POCKET $400, WHILE FORD DOESN'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WE LOST POWER AND THE TOOL LIGHT CAME ON. WE SLOWLY GOT OFF ON THE SIDE AND DRIFTED TO A REST AREA. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO START AGAIN. WE WERE NOT SURE IF IT WAS GOING TO START. AFTER IT STARTED IT RAN FINE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I HAVE JUST BE LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OFF AND HAVE AVOIDED GETTING HIT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT SLOW DOWN AND SHAKE. THE WRENCH LIGHT COME ON. GOING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, ENGINE JUST DIES ON ME, FORCING ME TO PULL OVER, IT LOOSES ALL POWER BUT IT GOES TO A VERY LOW RPM'S FOR A WHILE, ENGINE SHAKES AND AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES JUST TURN OFF, I TURN IT BACK ON AND IT RUNS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. *JB
CAR JUST SEEMED TO GO OUT OF GEAR. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD TURN IGNITION OFF AND IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN COASTED TO SIDE AND CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. *TR
DRIVING UP A HILL WHEN MY ENGINE LOST ALL THRUST, THEN THE WRENCH AND BATTERY LIGHT TURNED ON. VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT WITH THE SAME END RESULT. TOOK CAR TO A MECHANIC AND I NOW HAVE TO GET MY THROTTLE BODY REPLACED.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION SEL TO WORK THIS MORNING AND EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING.... WHILE ACCELERATING FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR MY CAR WOULD SLIGHTLY JERK. SUDDENLY MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING BUT I CANNOT ACCELERATE. IT WAS A GOOD THING I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. ONCE I PULLED OVER, I PLACED MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT WITHIN 2 MINUTES. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE MORNING DURING MORNING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY, MY OFFICE WAS LESS THAN A MILE AWAY AND I MANAGED TO MAKE IT. DURING MY LUNCH BREAK, I HAD A CO-WORKER FOLLOW ME TO THE GOODYEAR ABOUT 4 MILES AWAY. THE SAME SITUATION HAPPENED TWICE DURING THE DRIVE THERE. I OFFICIALLY RECEIVED THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY WITH THE CODE BEING P2111. THE REPAIR WILL COST 510.00... I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS THAT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. LIVES COULD BE LOST OVER THIS. I THANK GOD THAT I WAS IN THE POSITION TO GET OVER. NHTSA PLEASE ADDRESS THIS WITH FORD. CAR KEEPS DISPLAYING CHECK FUEL FILL INLET, NOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. WHILE FILLING TANK AT LOCAL GAS STATION STRONG SMELL OF FUEL AROUND AND INSIDE OF CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. OBD II READS CODE P0455. THIS IS UNSAFE IN MANY WAYS, EXPLOSIVES ARE TO DANGEROUS TO MESS WITH. NO RESOLUTION FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING NORMAL SPEED OF ABOUT 35 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE CAR STOPPED. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, BUT THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL, BUT NO RESPONSE. THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, BUT NO RESPONSE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED FUNNY, BUT STARTED. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME OFF BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE FOR ABOUT A MILE AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR STARTED TO "BUCK" AND THEN STOPPED...NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED FOR A WHILE, AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED FUNNY, BUT STARTED. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED. IT STARTED FUNNY, BUT STARTED. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. *TR
THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2011 AND OTHER MODEL FORD FUSIONS AND OTHER MODEL FORD CARS. ACCORDING TO THE MEDIA, ON OCT 2ND 2012 NHTSA CREATED A DEFECT PETITION TO OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ON ESCAPE AND FUSION VEHICLES. I WAS TRAVELING ON OVER THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE ON I50 IN MORNING TRAFFIC ATA ~ 60 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY FUSION LOST COMPLETE POWER. THIS CAUSED A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. I THEN HAD TO 'LIMP' OVER A MILE UP THE TO THE TOP OF THE BRIDGE AT LESS THAN 5 MPH UNTIL I COULD PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COAST DOWN THE OTHER SIDE. MYSELF AND NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES WERE SUBJECTED TO A HAZARDOUS CONDITION WHEN THIS OCCURRED. LATER TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED MY PROBLEM WAS THE WELL KNOWN 'FUSION THROTTLE BODY ISSUE' CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. LOCAL FORD DEALER AL PACKARD IN WHITE MARSH MD SERVICE DEPT CONFIRMED THE ISSUE AS THE '2111' FAULT AND PROBLEM. AFTER READING ALL OF THE DETAILS ON THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I DISCUSSED THE MATTER AT LENGTH WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE, FORD HAS NO CUSTOMER WARRANTY PROGRAM IN PLACE FOR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM, NOR IS IT COVERED UNTIL THEIR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL WARRANTY PROGRAM AND HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE MORE PEOPLE GET HURT. IN MY CASE I WITNESSED NUMEROUS UNSAFE CONDITIONS WHILE I WAS LIMPING UP THE BRIDGE FOR 20 MINUTES. THE SITUATION COULD HAVE CAUSED A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE. I WORK AS A FLIGHT SAFETY PRODUCT SUPPORT MANAGER FOR A MAJOR AIRCRAFT ENGINE MANUFACTURER. ANY LOSS OF THRUST CONTROL ISSUE IS HANDLED AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND RECALL PROGRAMS ARE PUT IN PLACE. THE SAME NEEDS TO OCCUR HERE. MY BROTHER WHO ALSO OWNS A 2010 FUSION HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WHERE HE HAS LOST COMPLETE POWER WHILE TRAVELING ~65 MPH IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. *TR
ON THURSDAY 8/22/13, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND I EXPERIENCED WHAT SEEMED LIKE AN ENGINE STALL. MY 2011 FUSION WOULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I PULLED OFF THE SIDE AND MY CAR STARTED SHAKING SO I TURNED IT OFF. I WAITED A BIT AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND KEPT DRIVING. I COULD STILL FEEL A LAG WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR BUT HE COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. ON SATURDAY 8/24/13, THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES WITHIN A 4 HOUR SPAN. I POURED IN SOME SEAFOAM TO RULE OUT ANY MOISTURE THAT MAY BE IN THE ENGINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND DISCOVERED OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES THAT HAVE ALL BEEN LINKED TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. ON SUNDAY 8/25/13, THE ISSUE HAPPENED TWICE DURING THE DAY. TODAY I FINALLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING AND TOLD THEM THAT I THINK IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THE GUY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT KNOW UNTIL THE COMPUTER DISPLAYED THE ERROR CODE. SEVERAL HOURS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP TELLING ME IT IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST $650. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS HESITANT TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE THROTTLE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,500. *JB
I WAS TURNING WHEN MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND STEERING FAILURE LIGHT LIT ON MY DASH. I LOST CONTROL OF MY STEERING AND COULD HAVE CRASHED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SHUDDERED, LOST POWER, HAD NO GAS PEDDLE RESPONSE AND RAN VERY ROUGH. PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF. TURNED IGNITION, CAR TURNED OVER FOR 10-15 SECONDS AS IF STARVING FOR FUEL. FINALLY CAUGHT AND RAN FOR ABOUT 2 MILES, THEN HAPPENED AGAIN. IN A SPAN OF 4 MILES IT DID THIS THREE TIMES. A FEW DAYS LATER IT DID THE SAME THING 3 TIMES IN A MATTER OF ABOUT 10 MILES. THAT TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 65 MPH.
I AM WRITING IN REGARDS TO AN ISSUE WITH MY 2011 FORD FUSION. ON AUGUST 21, 2013 I WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH ON A BUSY HWY WHEN IT FELT AS IF MY CAR HAD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATOR. I FOUND MYSELF COASTING IN TRAFFIC. I MANAGED TO PUT ON THE HAZARDS AND MERGE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING HIT, THANKFULLY. ONCE OVER I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND AFTER A MINUTE STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WAS AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. THINKING THIS WAS SOME KIND OF FLUKE WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 3 DAYS LATER, AGAIN IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A MAIN HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. AGAIN WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO PULL OFF WITHOUT BEING HIT. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND THE DEALER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT UPON HEARING OUR STORY. A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. HE SAID OURS WAS THE THIRD ONE BEING DROPPED OFF THAT SAME DAY FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PART CONSIDERING HOW DANGEROUS THE SITUATION IS. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE PART, YET STILL NO RECALL. EVEN WORSE IS THAT FORD ISN'T EVEN COVERING THE COST OF REPLACING IT UNDER THE ENGINE WARRANTY, WE HAD TO PAY FOR IT. DOES SOMEONE ACTUALLY HAVE TO DIE IN ONE OF THESE ACCIDENTS BEFORE A RECALL IS DONE?? *JS
THROTTLE BODY STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY. SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO POWER TO CONTINUE ON. HAD TO GET OVER THREE LANES WHILE CAR SLOWED DOWN. STOPPED OFF AT SIDE OF ROAD AND CAR IDLED VERY ROUGH. TURNED CAR OFF WAITED A MINUTE AND RESTARTED AND IT RAN FINE FOR AWHILE UNIT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
WHEN TURNING LEFT, LOST THROTTLE CONTROL. AUTO STAYED POWERED BUT ATTEMPTS TO APPLY ACCELERATION VIA THE GAS PEDAL WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. COASTED TO A STOP, PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED VEHICLE OK. THE 'WRENCH' SIGNAL CAME ON WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED BUT WENT OFF UPON RESTART. *TR
OK SO I WAS ON MY LUNCH BREAK, ENTERING A WELL KNOWN BUSY INTERSECTION, WHEN I TRIED TO CROSS OVER INTO THE MEDIAN. MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN W/NO WARNING SIGN FAILED TO ACCELERATE FURTHER, THIS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET HIT BY A 16 WHEELER TRUCK. NOW MY CAR DIDN'T CUT OFF WHICH WAS SURPRISING, IT ONLY STALLED AND WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE. I EVENTUAL TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ONCE CRANKED UP THE CAR HESITATED B/4 FINALLY CRANKING UP AND ALLOWING ME TO MOVE ON. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED 6X ON TUES 8/20/2013 BEFORE MY CAR EVENTUALLY JUST WOULDN'T LET ME MOVE AT ALL.. TOOK THE CAR UP TOP AUTO-ZONE AND WAS ADV. AND STILL HAVE THE PRINT OUT OF THE ISSUE WHICH WAS THE THROTTLE STUCK OPEN/STUCK CLOSED.. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD WHO FIXED THE ISSUE FOR $520+, AND ADVISED ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL, FORD COMPANY TOLD ME NO, THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AS OF YET, HOWEVER THE PART WAS OUT OF STOCK NATIONWIDE.. AND AFTER COMPLETING MY RESAEARCH I HAVE NOTICED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE.. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REALLY IRRITATING FOR ME ESPECIALLY SINCE I TRAVEL OVER 45 MILES TO WORK EVERYDAY. HOWEVER THE ISUE IS RESOLVED NOW B/C I PAID $520+ TO GET MY CAR FIXED, HOWEVER W/ NO WARNING SIGNS AND ALMOST GETTING HIT AND POSSIBLY FIRED B/C MY TRANSPORTATION ISSUES.. VEHICLE SPEED 60 MPH. RPMS GOING FROM 2 TO 6 MPH DID NOT WANT TO GO OVER 60. THEN VEHICLE STALLED ON EXPRESSWAY. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE TBI. STILL DOING THE SAME THING. CAR IS PARKED BECAUSE AFRAID IT WILL KILL US. *TR
CAR QUIT RUNNING IN DRIVE. DECELERATED TO A STOP. RESTARTED AND PARKED IN A LOT. I HAD JUST COME FROM THE DEALER FOR WARRANTY WORK AND AN OIL CHANGE. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I WALKED BACK TO THE DEALER AND REPORTED THIS. THEY HAD TO GET A TOW TRUCK AND TOW IT BACK TO HE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. AS OF WEDNESDAY AT 4PM, THE VEHICLE IS STILL THERE WAITING FOR A THROTTLE BODY PART. MY INVOICE STATED "C/S VEHICLE'S IDLE SOMETIMES GOES HIGH BY ITSELF". THE TECHNICIAN [XXX], STATED ON THE INVOICE, 'NO CODES PRESENT, CANNOT DUPLICATE'. THE DEALERSHIP IS COUNTRYSIDE FORD, 24825 US19N, CLEARWATER, FL 33763 727-797-2277. I WAS SITTING AT A DRIVE UP WINDOW AND MY RPMS WENT WAY UP AND THE CAR DIED AND WHEN I'M DRIVING I HAVE A LOST OF POWER LIKE IT TRYED TO DIE THEN RECOVERED I,M BEING TOLD THIS IS THE (FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE BODIES) THIS IS BE COMING A BIG PROBLEM WHERE IT STARTING TO DIE MORE I DON'T WANT MY WIFE TO GET IN TO A WRECK AND GET HURT SO I'M GOING TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODIE BUT I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ASAP, THIS IS A VERY HIGH PRICED PART I WOULD LIKE A REFUND
I WAS DRIVING ON I-5 ON MY WAY HOME FROM RUNNING ERRANDS WITH THE FAMILY. I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 70-75 MPH , IN THE FAST LANE, WHEN THE CAR JERKED AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR LOST ACCELERATION. I WAS LOSING SPEED FAST. MY HUSBAND KEPT ME CALM AND HELPED ME GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. WHEN WE WERE SAFELY ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON BUT RUNNING ROUGH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. I HAD MY FATHER COME AND PICK MY SON AND I UP AND MY HUSBAND WAITED WITH THE CAR. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO HARROLD FORD. THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND I WAS WITHOUT MY CAR FOR 10 DAYS. THANK GOODNESS MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND A RENTAL CAR WAS INCLUDED. THIS IS THE SCARIEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME IN MY 25 YEARS OF DRIVING. I AM SO THANKFUL THAT MY HUSBAND WAS WITH ME TO KEEP ME CALM AND HELP ME GET OUR FAMILY SAFELY OFF THE FREEWAY. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY AT 55 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND CONTINUE ON OUR JOURNEY. FIVE MINUTES LATER PULLING INTO A SHOPPING CENTER GOING ABOUT 10 MPH THE ENGINE "THUMPED, GURGLED, AND DIED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND GET IT FIVE MILES BACK TO THE HOUSE. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO FORD SENT A WRECKER TO THE HOUSE TO RETRIEVE THE CAR. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, VERY HARD JERKING. LUCKILY THE HIGHWAY WAS CLEAR OR SOMEONE COULD HAVE DIED! WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. WENT HOME AND RAN THE CODE AND IT TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY STUCK. I USED GOOGLE TO REVIEW MY OPTIONS AND 1000'S OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM!!!! HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALLED PART YET!?!? I CANNOT WAIT SO I ORDERED THE THROTTLE BODY, AND IT IS BACKORDERED AT THE DEALER! HOW IS THIS NOT A CLUE THAT THEY NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP? SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE, I READ THEIR HAVE ALREADY BEEN MAJOR ACCIDENTS WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS IN MY 2011 FORD FUSION. I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN IT TURNED GREEN I GAVE IT GAS AND THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AND WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 2 MPH. A TRUCK ALMOST REAR-ENDED ME IN A 50 MPH ZONE. I WAS REALLY SHAKEN UP AND THOUGHT THAT WAS THE CLOSEST I HAD COME TO DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY IN MY LIFE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO FORD AND THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND THAT IT WOULD BE AROUND $500 TO REPLACE. THEY SAID THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER BUT COULD DO A RUSH SHIPMENT AND HAVE IT WITHIN 10 DAYS. OUR FORD HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT WE DECIDED TO CALL OUR MECHANIC (NON FORD) IN TOWN TO SEE IF HE COULD GET THE PART QUICKER OR CHEAPER. HE CALLED ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND THEY HAD BEEN BACK ORDERED FOR OVER 6 MONTHS BUT MORE WERE EXPECTED IN BY OCTOBER 2013. WE CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD THROTTLE BODY FOR YEARS, AND FORD REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WOULD THINK FORD WOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT PROFITS WHEN THEIR CUSTOMER'S LIVES ARE IN DANGER FROM AN INFERIOR PART. TO TOP IT OFF WE HAVE ALSO BEEN HEARING A POPPING SOUND IN THE FRONT END. WHEN WE TOOK IT INTO FORD FOR THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM THEY ALSO SAID THAT THE BUSHINGS IN THE FRONT END FOR THE TIE RODS AND A ARMS WERE BAD AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THERE WERE NOT ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU TYPE IN FORD THROTTLE BODY IN ANY SEARCH ENGINE, IT COMES UP WITH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD THROTTLE BODY. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND ADVANCE TRAC FAULT APPEARED ON THE DASH AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF (DIFFICULT TO TURN). I OWN A 2011 FORD FUSION. ON 8/16/2013, ON CITY STREETS, TRAVELING LESS THAN 20 MPH, THE CAR ENGINE CUT OFF, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO STEER, BUT ALL OF MY DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE FUNCTIONING AS WELL AS A/C AND RADIO. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. THE SECOND INCIDENT I WAS AGAIN TRAVELING AT 55 MPH ON AN ACCESS RAMP THAT LEADS ONTO THE INTERSTATE. IN ALL 3 INCIDENTS, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I DID HAVE CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE MAIN THOROUGHFARE. I THEN SHUT OFF A/C, RADIO AND IGNITION; WAITED A SHORT TIME AND RESTARTED THE CAR. EACH TIME SHE HESITATED EVER SO SLIGHTLY BEFORE STARTING AND I WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE ON TO MY DESTINATION. *JB

LEAVING FROM ROCKVILLE MD TO CONNECTICUT 0800 HRS 15 AUG 2013. TRAVELING IN THE LEFT LANE ON HIGHWAY I95 AT ABOUT 67 MILES PER HOUR AND THE CAR JUST LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE LEFT SHOULDER AND JUST KEPT IDLING AT ABOUT 2 OR 3 MILES PER HOUR. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, AND THEN BACK ON AND THE GAS PEDAL BECAME ACTIVE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE THREE LANE HIGHWAY AND WORK MYSELF OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE. WAS ABLE TO GO ABOUT 5 MILES AND THE CAR WENT DEAD AGAIN. I PULLED OFF ON THE SHOULDER,TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE AGAIN. IN ANOTHER FEW MILES IT DIED ONE MORE TIME. I PULLED OVER TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON. I CONTINUED TO THE NEXT EXIT AND DECIDED TO CANCEL OUR TRIP AND GO BACK TO ROCKVILLE. UNLOADED AT HOME AND TOOK THE CAR TO LINDSAY FORD. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY (UNDER WARRANTY). THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM THE AIRPORT AND THE ENGINE STAYED ON BUT THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. I FOUND A WAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MOVING VERY QUICKLY TO GET TO A SHOULDER. THEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THE CAR RESPONDED FINE. 5 DAYS LATER (TODAY) THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AND AGAIN ON A VERY BUSY FREEWAY (US59 NEAR DOWNTOWN HOUSTON) AT LUNCH TIME. AGAIN I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN RESTARTED IT AND IT WORKED FINE. IT HAPPENED A THIRD TIME WHILE IN A NEIGHBORHOOD TRAVELING AT 20 MPH. I AM ASTONISHED THAT THERE ARE NEARLY 3/4 OF A MILLION VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE OR POTENTIAL ISSUE AND THE IMPRESSIVE NUMBER OF REPORTS OF THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. *TR

WE TOOK THE CAR THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT IS WAS RELATED TO A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY MENTIONED THAT IT IS COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH FORD FUSION 2011, SO MUCH THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER! THEY ARE CHARGING US ABOUT 700$ TO REPLACE THE PART AND WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO SHOW UP. VERY DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS SITUATION ESPECIALLY IF THIS HAPPENS SO FREQUENTLY. FORD DEALER SHIP HAS A NEW PART NUMBER FOR THIS THROTTLE BODY WITH A 2 MONTH BACKORDER WITH AROUND 6,534 UNITS ON BACKORDER! ORDERED A NEW PART NUMBER FROM EBAY AND SEEMS TO BE WORKING. I DID THE REPLACEMENT IN 10 MINUTES, BUT HAVE READ ONLINE THAT PEOPLE ARE PAYING AROUND 500 DOLLARS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THIS PART. THAT ALONE SHOULD BE A LAW SUIT! I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC ALARM CAME ON. IT SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, MY FUSION HAD NO POWER STEERING WHATSOEVER AND I COULD NOT EVEN TURN THE WHEEL. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY FIRST REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WHICH THREE DAYS LATER IT WENT OUT AGAIN! I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS A GLITCH IN THE SENSOR SO THEY MANUALLY RESET EVERYTHING. WELL THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR MAYBE 2 DAYS, AND IT WENT OUT ON ME AGAIN. ALSO, THERE WAS A PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO PUT ON CORRECTLY, THUS RESULTING IN THE PIECE OF PLASTIC DRAGGING THE GROUND AND BROKE OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NEARLY SCARED ME TO DEATH. THEY REPLACED THE ABS MODULE AND THAT ALSO DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SO I AM NOW AT A STANDSTILL AND I REFUSE TO BE HUMILIATED WITH THIS SITUATION. FORD HAS TO FIX MY CAR OR GIVE ME A NEW ONE BECAUSE THIS IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. I LEFT FROM MY HOME IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN USED SINCE THE PREVIOUS EVENING. ABOUT 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE I GOT ONTO A STATE ROUTE AND STARTED TO GO UP A SLIGHT HILL. IT SEEMED TO GO DOWN TO IDLE WITH NO RESPONSE FROM ENGINE WHILE PUSHING THE PEDAL. I GLIDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CRESTED THE HILL, THEN LET THE ENGINE SPUTTER AT AROUND IDLE AS I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND LET GRAVITY TAKE ME TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL WHERE I COULD GLIDE AROUND THE CORNER INTO A SAFE PARKING LOT. I SHUT THE CAR DOWN, WAITED A MINUTE AND IT STARTED BACK UP AS THOUGH NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CLEAR. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO CHECK TO SEE IF IT STORED ANY CODES YET. THE CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING A LOT TO THESE CARS AND HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE MY FAMILY AND I COULD HAVE DIED DUE TO THE LOSS OF EVERYTHING. WITH NO ABILITY TO SPEED UP, I HAD TO NAVIGATE THROUGH TWO LANES OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC WITH A PARALYZED CAR TO GET ME AND MY CHILDREN TO SAFETY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN, AND THAT UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN. THEY ORDERED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE ONLINE, I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT. THE FACT THAT FORD IS COVERING THIS UP AND PUSHING THE COSTS ON TO ITS CUSTOMERS IS FRUSTRATING (MORE THAN $1300 IN MY CASE), BUT THE FACT THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO RISK THE LIVES OF THESE VERY SAME CUSTOMERS IS DOWNRIGHT DISTURBING. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL ON ALL THE CARS AFFECTED BY THIS THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, AS WELL AS A FULL REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE HAD TO SUFFER THROUGH THIS ALREADY. *TR
BOUGHT THE CAR ON AUG 06,2013. WHILE DRIVING HOME AT 60 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY RPM WENT FROM 2 TO 6 AT 60. DID NOT WANT TO GO OVER. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE STALLED ON THE MIDDLE LANE. NO OTHER VEHICLES COMING. THE NEXT DAY RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROB ANYMORE. THEY HAD ADDED A EXTENDED WARRANTY AND SAID TO TAKE IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP. TOOK IT THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. CHANGED IT. THE NEXT WEEK IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK. SAID THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS VOID BECAUSE PROBLEM WAS EXISTING. STALLED @ 8 TIMES. CAR IS PARKED AT HOME. STILL PAYING $400 FOR 72 MONTHS. PIECE OF JUNK. *TR
ON 8/7/13 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK IN MY APARTMENT COMPLEX (APPROX. 5 MPH) MY CAR STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL AND STARTED "SHAKING" ERRATICALLY. A SMALL TOOL/WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. RESTARTED SEVERAL MINUTES LATER AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL ON THE WAY HOME. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT AGAIN UNTIL 8/9/13 TO THE MECHANIC. IT STARTED AND DROVE FINE, UNTIL 15 MINUTES AFTER BEING ON THE INTERSTATE (WHICH I HAD TO GET ON TO GET TO THE MECHANIC) THE CAR STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL AND SEEMS TO STAY AT THE SAME SPEED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE (APPROX. 60 MPH). FINALLY THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND STARTED SHAKING ( LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS BUT I STILL 1/2 TANK). I HAD TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY ON THE VERY BUSY INTERSTATE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND DIDN'T SEEM TO RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND TRIED TO START DRIVING ON THE SHOULDER BUT THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AGAIN. I DECIDED TO TRY ONE MORE TIME BEFORE CALLING A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION (AND I HAD MY 11 MONTHS OLD SON IN THE CAR) TRYING TO MERGE BACK ON THE FREEWAY WITH A CAR THAT DIDN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE AND WAS SHAKING. I TRIED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY PULL BACK ONTO THE INTERSTATE. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF, I TOOK SIDE STREETS AND HAD TO STOP THE CAR AGAIN (APPROX. 30-40 MPH). MECHANICS SAID THAT FORDS AREN'T SUPPOSE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM THEY WERE VERY SURPRISED AND TOLD US TO RESEARCH THE INTERNET FOR RECALLS, THAT IS HOW I FOUND SAFERCAR.GOV AND THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME SITUATION. THIS PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR ITSELF AND NOT IN ANYWAY THE OWNERS/OPERATORS FAULT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED IMMEDIATELY SINCE THIS ISSUE HAPPENS SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTS/LOSS OF LIFE. *TR
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, (TWO WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND ONCE WHILE LEAVING WORK), MY STEERING HAS "LOCKED" ON ME. THE CODE THAT APPEARED ON THE DASH WAS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. NOT BEING TOO SURE OF WHAT THIS WAS ABOUT WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD US IT WAS THE RACK AND PINION THAT HAD GONE OUT. THE DEALER THEN STATED IN ORDER TO FIX IT THE ROCKER ARMS AS WELL AS THE RACK AND PINION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF 2700 IN REPAIRS, THAT WAS NOT INCLUDING LABOR AND TAX. WHILE OUR VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE PART OF THE POWER TRAIN, AS WITHOUT STEERING YOU CANNOT DRIVE. THIS IS ALSO A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW THIS WOULD HAVE GONE IF I HAD BEEN IN TRAFFIC, LET ALONE IF MY CHILDREN HAD BEEN IN THE CAR. I HAVE SEEN HOW MANY COMPLAINTS THERE IS ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (70), WHEN MY CARS ACCELERATOR STOPPED RESPONDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A CURVE ON A 2 LANE RURAL HIGHWAY WITH 2 FOOT SHOULDERS. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF INTO THE GRASS, WHERE I REALIZE THAT MY CAR WAS IDLING ERRATICALLY. THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT RESPOND, SO I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION, BUT HAS SINCE HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. I REGULARLY ENTER HIGH VOLUME, HIGH SPEED INTERSECTIONS, WHERE THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, IF NOT FATAL. FORD SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL, BUT I FOUND NO SMALL NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AS I SEARCHED THE INTERNET. PLEASE FORCE THEM TO DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AT 60 MPH MY CAR BEGAN TO FEEL SLUGGISH, STARTED SURGING, FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO SHUT DOWN. I GOT PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF ROAD AND LOOKED IN MANUAL AFTER SEEING THE WRENCH ICON HAS WAS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. I WAS HESITANT TO RESTART BUT DID. THE WRENCH ICON WENT OFF AND I WENT BACK HOME SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP. MY CAR HAS BEEN THERE A WEEK TODAY.
