THREE ISSUES HAVE ARISEN IN THE LAST MONTH: 1) WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO TURN A CORNER, TO STOP OR AFTER A STOP AND STARTING TO ACCELERATE, MY CAR STALLS 2) AT A STOP LIGHT, MY CAR JUMPS - WILL INTERMITTENTLY STALL WHEN GOING TO ACCELERATE 3) AFTER PUTTING GAS IN THE TANK IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN OVER. *TR
I WAS DOING 55 MPH AND MY CAR STALLED, THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN THE CAR STOPPED. AFTER A COUPLE ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTED AND I WAS ALLOWED TO DRIVE ALTHOUGH I WAS SCARED AND GOT OFF THE FREEWAY. I ALSO HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY WHEELS KNOCKING WHEN I TURN LIKE ONE OF THE TIRES ARE GOING TO COME OFF. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY! I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC AND NOW ALL THESE THINGS HAVE TO BE FIXED AND HAVE BECOME QUITE COSTLY, NOT TO MENTION THE CAR WAS MADE TO NOT HAVE A GAS CAP? REALLY? I'M STARTING TO WONDER IF THE FORD FUSION IS THE RIGHT CAR TO HAVE AND THE SAFETY QUESTIONS ARE ALWAYS IN MY HEAD BECAUSE IF A CAR STOPS ON THE FREEWAY WHILE DOING 55 A SERIOUS ACCIDENT CAN'T BE TOO FAR BEHIND. I PRAY THESE ISSUES ALL GET ADDRESSED AND RECALLED SO NO ONE GETS KILLED! I DID RESEARCH ON THIS WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT THE SAME ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED TO MANY OTHERS BUT WHEN I CALLED FORD'S CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT I WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY VIN. I CAN'T IMAGINE I AM THE ONLY ONE HAVING THESE TROUBLING ISSUES TAKING PLACE BUT IT ONLY AFFECTED CERTAIN MODELS. SEEMS TO ME ALL FORD FUSIONS SHOULD HAVE THESE ITEMS RECALLED AND REPLACE REGARDLESS OF WHAT MODEL. I NOW HAVE TO KEEP MY RECEIPT FROM THE MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A FORD DEALER WHO FIXED MY CAR AND HOPE THAT THE RECALL ON THESE ISSUES WILL ALLOW ME TO GET MY HARD EARNED MONIES BACK ONE DAY SOON. POWER STEERING FAILURE MAKES THE CAR STEERING CONTROL TO BE VERY HARD. I TRIED MANY WAYS (TURN OFF THE CAR, DISCONNECT BATTERY) BUT DID NOT WORK. *TR
DRIVING 45MPH ON STATE ROAD 45 IN SOUTHERN INDIANA, WHICH IS VERY CURVY. LET OFF GAS, THEN WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE, PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. CAR THEN STARTED SPUTTERING. NO ACCELERATION AT ALL. FINALLY GOT CAR OFF OF STATE HIGHWAY. CAR NEVER COMPLETELY DIED, JUST ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION, THROTTLE BODY SENSOR BAD! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! HAD I BEEN GOING FASTER AND VEHICLES BEHIND ME, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. COST $580 TO REPAIR ON A 2011 CAR! ACCORDING TO THE FORD TECHNICIAN THAT REPAIRED MY CAR, THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS! VERY DISAPPOINTING FOR FORD NOT TO RECALL SURE A IMPORTANT REPAIR! *TR
ON SATURDAY, I WAS DRIVING OUT FROM A COMPLEX MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC WHEN MY VEHICLE ABRUPTLY SLAMMED STOPPED AT A GREEN LIGHT. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND NOTICED A WRENCH SIGNAL POPPED ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, THEN STARTED IT BACK. THE VEHICLE TURNED ON AGAIN. I WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT REAR-ENDED. I DROVE HOME AND DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL I TOOK IT TO NEAREST DEALER. MONDAY MORNING, I GOT INTO VEHICLE HEADED TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN DRIVING OUT OF MY COMPLEX, THE CODE POPPED ON, VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND STOPPED. I TURNED IT OFF THEN ON AGAIN. IT STARTED AND I HEADED TO THE DEALER CLOSE BY WITH HAZARDS ON. MY VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED NEEDING THROTTLE BODY TOTALING $585.00. MIND YOU MY VEHICLE IS TWO YEARS OLD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE WITH NO WARNING OF ANY PROBLEMS. I WENT THROUGH A TOLL BOOTH, ACCELERATED AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WARNING CAME ON IN THE MESSAGE CENTER. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR ON A CORNER THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO SAVE IT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND HAVE NO OTHER WAY OF GETTING AROUND. NOW EVERY TIME I GET INTO MY CAR, I AM PUTTING MY LIFE ON THE LINE. NOT SAFE THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AS I SEE NOW MANY PROBLEMS JUST LIKE MINE HAVE OCCURRED TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. I PURCHASED MY CAR ONLY 8 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE PUT AROUND 9,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE ROAD SIDE WHERE IT WAS SHUT OFF FOR 1 MINUTE. UPON RESTART, VEHICLE DROVE AND ACCELERATED NORMALLY. AFTER DRIVING FOR 5 MINUTES, VEHICLE AGAIN LOST ENGINE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WAS AGAIN MANEUVERED TO THE ROAD SIDE AND SHUT OFF FOR 1 MINUTE. UPON RESTART, VEHICLE DROVE AND ACCELERATED NORMALLY. CONDITION WAS EXPERIENCED THREE TIMES THE SAME DAY. ECU STORED CODE FOR THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. *TR
TWICE IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN MY POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR AND POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. *TR
DASH BOARD REPORTS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. DIFFICULTY STEERING. DRIVE TO PARKING PLACE. TURN CAR OFF. TWO HOURS LATER RETURN TO CAR. TURN ON CAR AND THE POWER STEERING IS OK. SECOND FAULT AT 46045 MILES. CAR WAS PARKED. TURN CAR ON. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. TURN CAR OFF. TURN CAR ON. POWER STEERING OK. *TR
DROVE A MILE FROM OUR HOME TO PICK UP PIZZA. WENT INTO THE SHOP FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, CAME OUT AND STARTED THE CAR. BACKED OUT OF THE SPACE AND PULLED ACROSS A DIVIDED ROAD TO HEAD HOME AND THE CAR SPUTTERED AND LOST POWER SO THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT. I SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CLEAR. IT REPEATED THIS ISSUE AGAIN ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER ON THE HIGHWAY FOR MY WIFE THOUGH RECOVERED. THEN AGAIN FOR ME WHILE ACCELERATING UP A STATE ROUTE BUT DID NOT RECOVER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MY FORD FUSION ACCELERATOR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. IT WAS AS IF THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER AND I WAS FORCED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER A BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH, IT WAS APPARENT THIS IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM FOR FORD FUSIONS AND FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE MALFUNCTIONING PART WAS SPECIFICALLY THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, PULL OVER AND IT STARTS BACK UP. IT HAS DONE THIS 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE FORD DEALER MONDAY. DID ONLINE SEARCHES AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSION AND IT POINTS TO THE THROTTLE BODY OR ELECTRONIC MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY FORD - VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER TWICE ON THE WAY TO WORK WHILE NAVIGATING INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. MY CAR ENGINE STALLED AND I HAD TO PULL OVER - I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON FRIDAY AND THEY TOOK CARE OF IT REALLY FAST, BUT IT APPEARS THAT THEY HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF IT HAPPENING ALOT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME, AS I HAVE TO TRAVEL INTERSTATE EVERY DAY.. IT IS UNNERVING THAT WHEN DRIVING 55-65 MPH, THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND UPON RESTARTING, RESUMED NORMALLY. JUST A VERY BASIC GOOGLE SEARCH, IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND NEED A RECALL NOTICE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, ENGINE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER AND AS MY SPEED DECREASED I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THOUGH ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING AND INTERMITTENTLY COUGHED OR VIBRATED, I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. DURING SLOW DOWN, DASH WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED A WRENCH AND ALSO POSSIBLY A WIGGLY LINE SYMBOLS. WHILE DRIVING BEFORE TROUBLE STARTED I ATTEMPTED TO CUT BACK MY SPEED BY PRESSING THE MINUS SET BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NOT CONSECUTIVELY. INCIDENT OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER I DECREASED MY SPEED WITH ABOVE ACTION. THIS INCIDENT LEFT US IN A DANGEROUS SPOT IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE WHILE HIGH SPEED HEAVY TRAFFIC PASSED CLOSE BY UNABATED. FOLLOWING COMPUTER ANALYSIS FORD DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. WHEN I GOOGLED ABOVE FORD PART I DISCOVERED A GROWING HISTORY OF ABOVE TROUBLE BUT SO FAR, NO RECALL ISSUED TO DATE. REAL DANGER WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE IS INDICATED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE APPEARED TO "STALL" CAUSING A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE PAST WEEK. VEHICLE MALFUNCTION CAUSED VEHICLE TO ENTER "LIMP" MODE. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. PULLED OFF, RESTARTED. RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. STALLED AGAIN. RESTARTED AGAIN. BEGAN STALLING AT LIGHTS. HAD TO TRIM GAS PEDAL WHILE STOPPED TO KEEP RUNNING. CAR STALLS ON ACCELERATION B/W 2ND AND 3RD GEAR (6 SPEED MANUAL). WHEN CAR STALLS WHILE UNDERWAY, MAJOR SHUDDER OCCURS. HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE BUT AFTER RESTART WILL BE NORMAL OPERATIONALLY FOR A SHORT TIME AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING CUT OUT. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, IN PARTICULAR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR INTO TRAFFIC OR IF SUCCESSFUL DOING THAT, STALLING WITHOUT WARNING AT SPEED AND WITH CARS/TRUCKS BEARING DOWN ON YOU. AT ONE OF THE ABOVE STALLS, HAD TRACTOR TRAILER BEARING DOWN ON ME WITHOUT AN ABILITY TO REMOVE THE CAR FROM ROAD IN THAT PARTICULAR AREA. THROTTLE BODY CODES P2111 AND P2112 INDICATING BAD THROTTLE BODY. VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE APPARENTLY AMONG THE 2010 THROUGH 2012 FORD FUSIONS. REQUESTING A RECALL AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR THROTTLE BODY WHICH I HAVE REPLACED. *TR
CAR LOSES POWER AND STARTS TO SHAKE AND STUTTER. WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. TURNING OFF THE CAR, AND RESTARTING IT WILL PUT THINGS BACK TO NORMAL...UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 5 SEPERATE OCCASIONS. THE LAST TWO EPISODES NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. PULLING ONTO A MAJOR STREET FROM A SIDE STREET. FORTUNATLY, THE ON-COMING TRAFFIC WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. ALSO, WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. SCARY SITUATION, BUT AGAIN AVOIDED A NEAR MISS. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER ON 8/10/2013. DIAGNOSIS-THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THEIR ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. INTERESTING...THEY MUST BE FAILING AT A VERY HIGH RATE. I WAS TOLD NOT TO EXPECT THE PART UNTIL OCTOBER 26TH. 3 MONTHS! SO THE CAR SITS PARKED, WAITING FOR A NEW THROTTLE BODY. IT IS MUCH TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. 2011 FORD FUSION (STILL MAKING CAR PAYMENTS) WILL BE SITTING FOR 3 MONTHS WHY I TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET TO WORK EVERYDAY. 56 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY SO THE REPAIR WILL COST $600. THANKS FORD. JUST HAPPY I DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR GET ANYONE HURT. BUT ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME...
SUDDEN DECREASE OF POWER FOLLOWED BY TOTAL SHUT DOWN (SIMILAR TO BEING TOTALLY OUT OF GAS). GAS TANK WAS ALMOST FULL EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED. *TR
AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR 3 MONTHS OR SO I HAD THE FIRST INCIDENT WITH THE POWER STEERING FAILING ON MY CAR WHILE DRIVING WITH A WARNING MESSAGE THAT STATED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM WOULD BE CORRECTED, THE LAST EVENT WITH.WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM DID NOT CLEAR THE MESSAGE, I HAVE READ A NUMBER OF BLOGS WITH PEEP OWNING FORD FUSIONS TO.KNOW THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE AND YET FORD MOTOR COMPANY STILL HAS YET TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION AGAINST THIS PROBLEM AND AT AROUND 1900.00 FOR REPAIR COSTS OF THIS ISSUE THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
MY 2011 FORD FUSION HAS REPEATEDLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME STALLING AND RANDOM SHUT-DOWNS THAT I KNOW UNDERSTAND MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. USUALLY UPON ACCELERATING, MY VEHICLE WILL BUCK ABRUPTLY AND THEN SHUDDER AND RAPIDLY REDUCE SPEED UNTIL I AM ABLE TO SHUT IT OFF. THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE TRANSMISSION TURNS ON AND OCCASIONALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MOST OF THE TIME, THE VEHICLE WILL TURN RIGHT BACK ON AND BE ABLE TO DRIVE AS NORMAL, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL REPEAT THE SAME BUCKING PROCESS VERY SHORTLY AFTER I RESUME DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO ZONE AND THE ENGINE CHECK THEY RAN RETURNED WITH AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING "THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM STUCK OPEN" AND THAT IS WAS BEING HELD OPEN AT AN ANGLE LARGER THAN NEEDED. THANKFULLY, THIS HASN'T HAPPENED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN ANY PLACE THAT I COULD NOT PULL OVER SAFELY, BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WITH OTHER DRIVERS AROUND, NONETHELESS. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND FRUSTRATING ISSUE AND ONE THAT I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED TO FIND HAPPENS TO SO MANY OTHER DRIVERS. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR THE GREAT MANY OF US WHO HAVE BEEN PUT IN HARMS WAY BY THIS FAULTY SYSTEM. *TR
7/30/13- VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO ABOVE AN IDOL, CAR SPUTTERED AND STALLED WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT (THIS HAPPENED 3-4 TIMES SAME DAY); WHILE SLOWING TO ROUND A CURVE, PRESSED ACCELERATOR TO PICK UP SPEED AND CAR STALLED OUT (2 TIMES); THERE WERE NO SYMBOLS ON THE DASH THIS DAY. 8/5/13-STARTED CAR IN AM, CAR SPUTTERED BADLY, PUT CAR IN DRIVE & CAR SPUTTERED PART WAY UP STREET, DID NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING GAS WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED, "WRENCH" LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH; TURNED CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, STARTED CAR AGAIN AND IT RAN OKAY & NO WARNING LIGHTS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE "USED" ON 4/4/13 FROM BLUE KNOB AUTO, ALTOONA, PA *TR
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAULT ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER.
I WAS DRIVING ON I-275 IN FLORIDA WHEN MY 2011FORD FUSION COMPLETELY LOSS POWER. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY POWERED DOWN AND I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
AFTER ACCELERATING TO 30 MY CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO USE THE FOOT PEDAL. THE ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING BUT WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHUT THE CAR OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THEN STARTED THE CAR. IT WORKED FINE UNTIL AUGUST 15TH WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED 4 TIMES. ONCE WITH IN 30 MINUTES AT A SPEED US 40 TO 55. THE 3RD AND 4TH TIMES OCCURRED WITHIN MINUTES OF EACH OTHER AT 55 MPH IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. ON ALL OCCASIONS THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. ON AUGUST 17TH I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED. THAT COST ME $500 OUT OF POCKET SINCE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN A 3 LANE FREEWAY, THE CAR JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST ALL RESPONSE IN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NO ONE WAS BEHIND US WHEN THE CAR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. WE RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE, BUT AS WE WERE ALMOST HOME, IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD GOING 40MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND WENT INTO A LIMP MODE I WAS GETTING NO REACTION FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. AT THIS TIME THE WRENCH AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON IT RAN JUST FINE AND THERE WERE NO LIGHTS. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN 2 MORE TIMES. THE THIRD DAY IT HAPPENED 2 TIMES JUST ON THE WAY TO THE MECHANIC 2 BLOCKS AWAY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY BOX THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THIS IS HAPPENING SO MUCH THE PART IS ACTUALLY ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 3 WEEKS. VERY UPSET AND WANT THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED BY FORD. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE WARNING MESSAGE WAS CLEARED AND THE STEERING WORKED FINE THE REST OF THE TRIP. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. THE SERVICE MANAGE TOLD ME HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT IF THERE WAS NO WARNING CODE DISPLAYING THAT THEY COULD READ. UPON RESEARCHING SEVERAL SITES ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BEING EXPERIENCED BY OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS. I WAS 750 MILES FROM HOME.TOW TRUCK DROPPED CAR OFF A REPAIR SHOP. MANAGER SAID HE HAD SEEN A CAR NOT LONG AGO THAT THEY HAD DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND ALL WAS FINE. THE SERVICE MAN WENT OUT TO CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP WITHOUT LITTLE WRENCH ICON BEING ON. DROVE W/O ANY INCIDENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND THEN IT WORKED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 15-20 TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. SINCE THE ERROR MESSAGE WENT AWAY WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED, A DIAGNOSTIC WOULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. 4 DAYS AGO WE WERE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITH THE ERROR MESSAGE - POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT- THIS TIME RESTARTING THE CAR DID NOT MAKE THE MESSAGE GO AWAY. AND THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETED GONE. WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING MODULE HAS TO BE REPLACED FOR A TOTAL COST OF $2000. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED, THIS COULD OF RESULTED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH INJURY AND DAMAGES TO THE CAR. MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT WHERE SHE WORKS AND THE POWER STEERING QUIT. ON THE READOUT IT SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. ALSO THE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON. WITH DIFFICULTY SHE FINISHED PARKING THE CAR AND CALLED ME. SHE THEN SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WENT IN TO WORK. I DROVE TO WHERE SHE PARKED AND CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD FOR THE POWER STEERING. COULD NOT FIND IT SO LOOKED IN MANUAL AND FOUND THAT POWER STEERING ASSIST IS ELECTRONIC AND NOT HYDRAULIC. I STARTED CAR AND EVERYTHING WORKED NORMAL INCLUDING STEERING. LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF SAME PROBLEM ON 2011 FUSIONS. PLUGGED A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL IN UNDER THE DASH AND IT SHOWED NO FAULT CODES STORED. TOOK TO A FORD DEALER THE FOLLOWING WEEK AFTER DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. THEY KEPT IT 4 DAYS AND COULD NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO COME UP AGAIN. WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT CAME UP AGAIN. PICKED UP THE CAR ON FRIDAY THE 26TH AND DROVE IT. THE STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN ON SUNDAY THE 28TH OF JULY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT OFF. RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL AGAIN. TALKED TO 2 OTHER FORD DEALERS AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF SO THEY CAN CHECK IT WHEN IT IS HAPPENING. (BUT OF COURSE IT HAS TO BE A DAY AND TIME THEY ARE OPEN) I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS TO WORK DAILY AND HAS TO TRAVEL OVER ROADS WHERE THERE IS NO PLACE TO PULL OFF TO RESET. ALSO IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT FOR HER TO KEEP STEERING WHILE SHE IS CONTINUING TO DRIVE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT BUT WITH NO IMMEDIATE RESOLVE. *TR
