TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,600.
I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH ON A MAJOR ROAD AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND CUT OFF. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE DROVE LESS THAN A MILE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AGAIN AND CUT OFF. THREE DAYS PRIOR I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED THE SENSOR REPLACED THAT CONNECTED TO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. I HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED AND KNOW I HAVE TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER BUT THERE SHOULD BE SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON THE FUSION. IF A PART IS ON BACK ORDER THIS TELLS ME THAT IT IS IN DEMAND AND THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING WHEN IT COME TO SOMETHING THAT AFFECTS THE SPEED OF YOUR CAR. IF THERE IS A RECALL I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE $277 I HAVE TO SPEND TO GET THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,200.

STARTED THE VEHICLE AND BEGAN DRIVING, THE THROTTLE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. HAD TO RESTART CAR IN INTERSECTION. THE THROTTLE RETURNED MOMENTARILY. SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE AT < 5MPH (AS ALL IT WOULD ALLOW) TO AUTOZONE. RECEIVED P2112 CODE: THROTTLE CONTROL STUCK SHUT. HAD TO TOW HOME. ENGINE CUT-OFF GOING AT 5 MPH. ACCORDING TO AAMCO CODE P2112 APPEARED ON THEIR READER. THIS CODE HAS TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART, THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASY., ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. IT TOOK AT TWO DAYS OR TWO WEEKS TO RECEIVE THE PART. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE; FORD AND THEIR DEALERS SHOULD HAVE THIS PART AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY. DOES SOMEONE NEED TO HAVE A SERIOUS OR DEADLY ACCIDENT BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN? *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC THE GAS PEDAL QUIT WORKING THEN MY CAR STALLED OUT. THIS ALL HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE. I RESTARTED THE CAR MERGED BACK ON HIGHWAY AND IN 1/4 TO 1/2 MILE IT DID IT AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND MERGED BACK INTO TRAFFIC HOPING TO MAKE IT TO THE NEXT EXIT, BUT IT DID IT AGAIN IN LESS THEN 1/4 MILE. I RESTARTED IT AND STAYED ON THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY. IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A GAS STATION AT NEXT EXIT. THE CAR HAD STALLED OUT A MONTH OR SO PRIOR BUT RESTARTED AND NO OTHER ISSUES UNTIL THIS REPORTED EVENT. ALSO AS WE RESEARCHED ON LINE MY CAR HAD THE SURGES OF POWER OR LACK THEREOF AS MENTIONED ON LINE. NOTE: I AM A PERSON WITHOUT MUCH MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE AND THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY UNSETTLING EVENT. I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING IN MY WORK INCLUDING RUSH HOUR. I AM WELL AWARE THAT MY LIFE COULD HAVE EASILY ENDED THAT DAY OR BEEN SEVERELY CHANGED. IN ADDITION, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. MY CAR ENGINE "STALLED" (THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, BUT THERE WAS NO POWER FROM THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE) WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IN THE PROCESS OF INCREASING MY SPEED UP TO THE 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT AFTER TURNING ONTO A MAJOR ROAD. SINCE THERE WAS NO ENGINE POWER TO ACCELERATE, I HAD TO LET THE CAR ROLL TO THE SHOULDER WHERE I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHSAND I AM VERY FEARFUL THAT THE CAR WILL STALL WHILE I AM ON A HIGH SPEED, HIGH TRAFFIC, MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY, WHICH I USE TO DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK EVERY DAY. *TR

WAS GOING JUST GOING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STARTED SURGING AND RUNNING ROUGH AND BASICALLY JUST STOPPED. I TURNED IT OFF AND LET IT SIT A BIT AND THEN IT RESTARTED AND THE WARNING LIGHT WAS OFF AND DROVE FINE. ONE MONTH LATER THIS HAPPEND AGAIN IN TOWN AND APPROXIMATELY AT THE SAME SPEED. I FIGURED I WOULD HAVE THEM CHECK IT AS THE OWNERS MANUAL STATED TO DO IF IT HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE WHEN I GOT MY OIL CHANGED. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER THE 2ND INCIDENT AND 2 MONTHS AFTER THE 1ST, I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65 MPH AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WAS AS IF I WAS NOT GETTING ANY POWER, THE ACCELERATOR DIDNT DO ANYTHING AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AGAIN I TURNED THE CAR OFF LET IT SIT A BIT AND CONTINUED ON. MY DEALERSHIP IS 10 MILES FROM MY HOME, AS I WAS TAKING THE CAR IN TO GET CHECKED AND THE OIL CHANGED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN THIS 10 MILE DISTANCE IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC AND AGAIN I HAD TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC JUST TO GET TO DEALERSHIP. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN A 3 DAY PERIOD. THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND MY CAR ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT AND IT WAS 500.00 TO FIX.
WENT TO START CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. FORD ROADSIDE TOWED IT THE NEXT DAY. AFTER TRYING VARIOUS THINGS FOR 3 WEEKS FORD ENGINEERING CALLED TO TELL ME IT WAS DUE TO A LIGHTNING STRIKE. INSURANCE BELIEVES IT IS A WARRANTY CLAIM AS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY; FORD WILL NOT HONOR THIS AS A WARRANTY CLAIM. NO ONE AT FORD HAS BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME A COST FOR REPAIRS ALREADY ATTEMPTED OR FOR FURTHER REPAIRS TO MAKE THE CAR WORK NORMALLY AGAIN. I FEEL THERE IS A DEEPER ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CAR, BUT FORD IS CLAIMING THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CAR THAT COULD SUPPLY THIS KIND OF ELECTRICITY TO FRY SEVERAL MODULES, FUSES, AND LIGHT BULBS. WORRIED ABOUT A BIGGER ISSUE WHICH IS NOT BEING DIAGNOSED AND FIXED PROPERLY. COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER. RPMS WENT TO ZERO, ENGINE STAYED AT IDLE SPEED AND THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT (WRENCH SYMBOL) CAME ON. NO RESPONSE WHEN GAS PEDAL PRESSED. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED IGNITION OFF. WAITED 10 MINUTES AND CAR STARTED UP WITH NO PROBLEMS AND NO WARNING LIGHT. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THIS HAPPENED IN HEAVY/FASTER TRAFFIC IT MAY HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. AND AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE AS TO WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS FAILURE IT SEEMS THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I OWN A 2011 FORD FUSION SE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT LOST POWER WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING ICON. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND ALLOWED IT TO SIT FOR A MINUTE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED WITH TURNING ON THE CAR AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME. AFTER READING SIMILAR REPORTS ONLINE, I SUBMITTED A SERVICE REQUEST TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. THIS WAS ABOUT THE THIRD TIME OVER THE PAST MONTH THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH THE ENGINE FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE (GAS PEDAL) AND SLOWED. THE ENGINE RAN AT A ROUGH IDLE AT ABOUT 900 RPM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER WHO ADVISED THE "THROTTLE BODY" NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND IT TOOK 10 DAYS TO GET THE CAR REPAIRED. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS/LIFE THREATENING SITUATION HAD IT OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH! *TR
I WAS BRAKING BECAUSE SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME WAS TURNING RIGHT. WHEN THEY TURNED AND I LET OFF THE BRAKE, I GAVE IT GAS TO GO. I DIDN'T GO AFTER FLOORING IT, AND THE CAR STARTED BUCKING AND JERKING LIKE CRAZY. IT WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THANKS BE TO GOD THAT I WAS RIGHT BY A FORD DEALERSHIP. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN WHEN YOUR THROTTLE GOES COMPLETELY OUT. THAT'S WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS...I NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY. THAT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I'VE READ ON LINE WHERE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FORD FUSION SE 3.0L V6. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS IS A MATTER THAT FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT. THIS IS A SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY HAD I BEEN ON A FREEWAY/HIGHWAY. I HAVE NEVER SUBMITTED SOMETHING TO YOU BEFORE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING! NO ONE NEEDS TO GET HURT. I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND MY CAR JUST STOPPED NO WARNING AND NOT EVEN ABLE TO COAST IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I WANTED TO CONTACT YOU ABOUT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN MY 2011 FORD FUSION. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE IN JANUARY 2013 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACED AFTER MY CAR STALLED A FEW TIMES. I WAS TOLD THEN THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BACKORDERED. I TRIED AGAIN IN JUNE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY ARE STILL BACKORDERED. AFTER THAT, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD SIMPLY TAKE THE KEY OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN AFTER IT STALLED AND IT WOULD BE FINE. AND THEY WERE BACKORDERED FROM FORD. ON JULY 11TH, THE CAR STALLED AT THE CORNER OF I-70 AND I-270 IN COLUMBUS WHILE TRAVELING AT 65MPH. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESET THE CAR. WHILE TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD, I WENT OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID ANY OTHER CARS AS THEIR WAS CONSTRUCTION AND NO SHOULDER. AFTER RESTARTING IT, I GOT BACK ONTO THE ROAD AND THE CAR STALLED AND I WASN'T ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK OFF THE ROAD AND NEARLY WAS HIT BY A SEMI FROM BEHIND. THE CAR STALLED A MINIMUM OF TEN TIMES DURING RUSH HOUR. *TR
MY WIFE, SON AND I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT GETTING READY TO TURN RIGHT AND ALL ASUDDEN THERE WAS NO STEERING AT ALL LOCKED COMPLETELY UP SO WE PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO RESTART CALL AND MESSAGE POPPED UP SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM, CHECK POWER STEERING NOW, SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAD WENT COMPLETELY OUT OF THE CAR TOTALLY NOT SAFE AT ALL. WHEN WILL THERE BE A RECALL ON SUCH A MAJOR ISSUE THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED I HAVE READ OTHER FUSIONS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS MINE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE THROTTLE ON THE VEHICLE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND WE HAD TO MAKE OUR WAY ACROSS TRAFFIC TO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. THIS HAPPENED AT MANY DIFFERENT SPEEDS INCLUDING IDLE. AFTER TAKING IT TO A LOCAL PARTS STORE TO HAVE THE "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" CODE CHECKED, THE RESULTS SHOWED A P2112 "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK CLOSED". SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF AS THE TACHOMETER WAS MOVING ERRATICALLY. I FEEL WE WERE LUCKY THIS DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS THE CAR SHUTOFF SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ENTERING INTERSECTIONS AND DRIVING AROUND "BLIND CORNERS". *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE MORE TIMES IN LESS THAN A WEEK. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I'M SURE THE SERVICE MANAGERS ARE TOLD TO ACT DUMB ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED CAUSING THE DOOR TO FLY OPEN AND NO ABLE TO STAY CLOSED. THIS LATCH FAILED TWICE. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS SEPT 9 2013. *TR

WHILE DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND TURNING ONTO A MAIN ROAD, THE POWER STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY HEAVY AND DIFFICULT. I HEARD BEEPING INSIDE THE CAR AND THE MESSAGE- POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIS WAS SCARY AS IT HAPPENED WITH OUT WARNING SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER AFTERWARDS (MONDAY) AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED AND THAT I WAS WORRIED IT WOULD REOCCUR AND IS DANGEROUS BUT THEY COULDN'T TAKE IT UNTIL FRIDAY. ALSO, CONCERNED ABOUT READING VERY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH NO RECALL FROM FORD TO LOOK INTO AND FIX BEFORE THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSES A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. LUCKILY, I HAD JUST MADE A TURN AT THE TIME AND WASN'T MOVING FAST AT ALL BUT OTHERS HAVE WRITTEN THAT IT HAPPENS AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS WELL. *TR
WAS DRIVING AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR ALMOST CAME COMPLETELY TO A STOP. COULD NOT GO MORE THAN A FEW MPH. SHUT OFF CAR, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. ON 7/22/2013, THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 3 TIMES AND THE CAR WAS IN LIMP MODE. WRENCH LIGHT SHUT OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY, GOING UP HILL, TO A FAMILY MEMBERS HOUSE. THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I WAS ALMOST HIT MY SEVERAL CARS, THANKFULLY THEY MISSED ME. THEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WORKED FINE. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED A COUPLE DAYS LATER ON ANOTHER BUSY HIGHWAY ON MY HOME FROM WORK. ONCE AGAIN IT STOPPED ACCELERATING AND I WAS THANKFULLY CLOSE TO WERE I COULD PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE BEFORE GETTING HIT. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO SPEND ALMOST $600 ON REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH THEY KNEW HAD BEEN DEFECTIVE WHEN THEY SOLD ME THE CAR!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 SOUTH APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH IN MODERATELY HEAVY TRAFFIC, AT EXIT 180, THE CAR SOUNDED LIKE IT DROPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING. I WAS ABLE TO MERGE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR CONTINUED COASTING AND THE "WRENCH LIGHT" APPEARED. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. WHEN STOPPED, THE CAR RATTLED AND IDLED VERY HARD AND WAS SHAKING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND CRANKED THE CAR BACK AND ALL WAS FINE, WRENCH LIGHT AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 MORE TIMES SINCE JULY 8TH 2013, YESTERDAY IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE 1 HOUR, ALMOST GOT SLAMMED BY TWO 18 WHEELER TRUCKS. THIS REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THIS TYPE OF SITUATION CAN GET PEOPLE KILLED. *TR
THE FIRST EPISODE OCCURRED WHEN LEAVING A PARKING SPOT. CAR WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 2 MPH AND WAS CHUGGING. THE OTHERS (4-5 INCIDENTS) HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, OFTEN AT 30-50 MPH. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE AFTER A TURN AND DURING ACCELERATION, OTHERS WOULD BE SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. CAR WOULD STALL, YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, AND I WOULD HAVE TO STOP, SHIFT TO PARK AND TURN OFF THE CAR, THEN RE-START. IT WOULD BE FINE FOR A FEW DAYS, AND ANOTHER EPISODE WOULD HAPPEN. *TR
I DRIVE ON FREEWAY AND LIGHT CAME ON. AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. MY RPMS DROPPED AND SO I NEED PULLED OFF SEVERAL CARS NEED TO BRAKE BECAUSE MY SPEED REDUCE TO FAST AND PUT ME ON DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING 45MPH ON A MAJOR ROADWAY. I HIT THE ACCELERATOR TO TRY AND MAKE IT GO, BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO STALL. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID GETTING HIT HEAD ON OR REAR ENDED. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR AND HOUR BEFORE I STARTED IT. I MADE IT ABOUT 5 MILES BEFORE IT LOST ALL POWER AND STALLED AGAIN. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY FORD WILL FIX IT IS IF IT REGISTERS A FAULT CODE WHICH IT IS NOT DOING. IT JUST LOSES THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND STALLS WITHIN A MINUTE OR LESS. THEY TOLD ME I JUST HAVE TO DRIVE IT. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THEY FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION S WITH A V4 ENGINE ON 07/03/2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 19:15 IN THE EVENING. I WAS TRAVELING ON A SLIGHT INCLINE ON A TWO-LANE ROAD AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 50 M.P.H. WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT LONGER ACCELERATE. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE SHIFTING DOWN. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN TURNED IT ON AGAIN. I DROVE TO MY DESTINATION 2 HOURS AWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. I DROVE THE CAR A SECOND TIME AND THE INCIDENT DID NOT RECUR. THE THIRD TIME I DROVE THE CAR AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN, WHICH WAS ON 07/05/2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 17:00. IT OCCURRED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSTATE AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY CUTTING ACROSS TRAFFIC WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE!!! I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE CONTROL. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES (MY CAR HAS 38000 MILES). THIS IS A SERIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE READ THAT 2010 FORD FUSIONS ALSO HAVE A HISTORY OF THE SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT 2-3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE. I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE AVOIDED A CRASH, BUT ONE COULD EASILY FIND THEMSELVES IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY CANNOT ACCELERATE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND END UP SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DEAD BECAUSE OF A CRASH THAT IT COULD CAUSE. WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION DOWN THE ROAD, IT UNEXPECTEDLY LOST POWER. THE ENGINE REMAINED ON (LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC.), BUT PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR DID NOT CAUSE IT TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF & A FEW MINUTES LATER, AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE CAR WAS MADE. THE STARTER TURNED OVER MULTIPLE TIMES & FINALLY STARTED. THIS OCCURRED THREE TIMES IN A FIVE-DAY PERIOD. WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. VEHICLE DISPLAY FLASHED POWER STEERING FAILURE ALTERNATING WITH SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK. THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS, AND RECENTLY HAPPENED ON A TURN. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON 7/3/13. THEY COULD NOT NOTE ANYTHING WRONG, BUT RESET SENSOR ANYWAY. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TWICE SINCE THE SENSOR WAS RESET. I FEEL THAT THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS PROBLEM, DEPENDING ON WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR WENT AN IDLE SPEED FORCING ME TO GET OFF OF THE FREEWAY AT REDUCED SPEED. TRIED TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES. WOULD ONLY IDLE ROUGH. LET IT SIT 1/2 HOUR WAITING FOR AAA RAN OK AFTER ANOTHER RESTART. REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. ONCE I WAS STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRAFFIC CONTROLLED INTERSECTION. WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND THEY ARE BACK ORDERED COULD TAKE 6 WEEKS BEFORE ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE BECAUSE OF LONG LIST OF ORDERS. THIS SAYS IT IS A MAJOR DESIGN/MANUFACTURE FAULT/ISSUE. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED FREE IF THERE ARE THAT MANY ISSUES WITH THIS ITEM. *TR
THE POWER STEERING WENT OF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH. THE INDICATOR SHOWED CHECK POWER TRAC POWER STEERING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY PUT IT ON A COMPUTER TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE COMPUTER SHOWED THE POWER GEAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT $1600. BUT THE SERVICE TECH SAID THAT MAY NOT BE ALL THAT'S WRONG, BUT FIRST NEED TO REPLACE THE POWER GEAR. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED IN THE WARRANTY AND THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO HAVING OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE. NEITHER OF WHICH IS OCCURRING. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY IF THE CAR, FOR INCIDENCE, IS IN THE PASSING LANE. AFTER THE CAR LOST ITS POWER STEERING, I WAS ABLE TO STOP AND RESTART, WHICH CORRECTED THE STEERING. *TR
I HAVE A 2011 FORD FUSION 3.0 L V6. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 4 YR OLD, WHEN THE ENGINE LOST ALL ACCELERATION POWER AND AN ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED MY DASHBOARD. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE AND HAD TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC IN A DISABLED CAR TO GET TO THE SHOULDER! I WOULD HIT THE GAS PEDAL WITH NO RESPONSE AND IT WAS NOT SHIFTING RIGHT AT ALL. I CUT THE IGNITION AND LET IT SIT FOR A COUPLE MIN WHILE I LOOKED THROUGH THE MANUAL TO SEE WHAT THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ALL ABOUT. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE LIGHT WAS STILL THERE AND AGAIN , NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. I LET IT SIT FOR ANOTHER 10 MIN AND STARTED IT AGAIN. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS GONE SO I DROVE HOME. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A SENSOR AND THE COMPUTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT.IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY SO I DIDN'T REALLY PAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION , BUT WHEN I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF IT'S HAPPENED TO OTHERS..I WAS UNPLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME EXACT ISSUE! AS ANOTHER COMMENTER RECOMMENDED, I CALLED THE FORD CONSUMER'S HOTLINE AT 800-392-3673 TO SEE IF THERE'S ANYTHING BEING DONE. POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING, AND BRAKES ACTING UP, VERY HARD TO DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON FOR POWER STEERING DEFAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY POWER STEERING FROZE AND I GOT THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" WARNING LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL INSTANCES LAST SUMMER, AND ALL I HAD TO DO WAS STOP THE CAR, TURN IT OFF, AND START IT UP AGAIN AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. I TOOK THIS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING. THIS DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN OVER THE WINTER, BUT IT DID AGAIN ON THE THURSDAY BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AS THEY ASKED IF I COULD BRING IT IN WITH THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY DID NOT LOOK AT IT. TODAY (JULY 15, 2014) I HAD THE SAME INSTANCE AGAIN OF THE POWER STEERING FREEZING WHEN I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. HOWEVER, WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I PLAN TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY, BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM FOR THE POWER STEERING TO GO INTERMITTENTLY, AND I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES. THE CAR SUDDENLY DEVELOPED SOME SLOP OR PLAY IN THE STEERING OF THE CAR WITH A CLUNKING NOISE UPON STEERING. A GARAGE CHECKED IT OUT AND DETERMINED THAT THE "RACK AND PINION" ASSEMBLY HOUSING, WHICH IS MADE A ALUMINUM, HAD A VERTICAL CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD CAUSE STEERING FAILURE RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. CAR IS DRIVABLE AT THIS POINT. *TR

I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR ON JUNE 26 2013 WITH 25580 MILES. I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND WITH NO WARNING AN ORANGE WRENCH INDICATOR CAME ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOLLOWED BY A COMPLETE LOSS OF THROTTLE RESPONSE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. THE WRENCH DISAPPEARED AND THE CAR WAS DRIVING WELL. AFTER ABOUT TWO MILES I ENTERED THE INTERSTATE. AFTER SEVERAL MILES TRAVELING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE AT ABOUT 65 TO 70 MILES PER HOUR. WITH NO WARNING JUST AS DESCRIBED IN THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO USE OF THE THROTTLE. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THIS TIME THE CAR WAS BUCKING AND SHUDDERING. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE THE REST OF MY TRIP. I HAVE TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER ON 07/01/2013 TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED, BUT IT IS RUNNING OK NOW. THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM I HAVE HAD IS A RANDOM WAVERING IDLE SPEED. A FEW TIMES THE CAR HAS HUNTED BETWEEN 600-900 RPMS WHILE IN DRIVE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS JUST THE CAR MAKING ADJUSTMENTS BUT NOW I WONDER IF IT IS ALL RELATED. I AM NERVOUS DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER, STOP, RESTART AND THEN PROCEED. I TRIED BOTH TIMES THE THROTTLE DIED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, RESTART AND CONTINUE TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE A 2009 FORD FUSION AND HAVE NO SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN OUR STREET AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL , PULLED OVER, AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. I WAITED FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN RESTARTED. IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS FOR MY CAR TO COME BACK ON. I CONTINUED DRIVING AND THE CAR LOST POWER LIKE THIS THREE MORE TIMES. I WAS CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AS I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED. I DROVE TO A MECHANICS SHOP AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART IS ON NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. THERE ARE 150+ ORDERS FROM FORD INFRONT OF MINE. IF THE ISSUE IS THIS WIDE, IT ONLY SEEMS RIGHT THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR
