I OWN A FORD FUSION AND SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. IT APPEARS THAT THE HINGES BROKE AND THE DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE AND THEN 2 MONTHS AGO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DID THE SAME THING. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUSIONS AND SEVERAL CUSTOMERS HAS BEEN COMING IN WITH THE EXACT ISSUE, AND FORD WON'T OFFER A RECALL. JUST TO HAVE ONE DOOR HANDLED FIXED US COSTING ME $345. THIS IS 1/3 OF MY SALARY EVERY TWO WEEKS. 2 YEARS AGO THE ENGINE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING NOW I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE. I HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN THE CAR FROM THE OUTSIDE IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF MY CAR. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VECHUCLE. FORD NEEDS TO OFFER A RECALL ON THESE PARTS.

THE ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM HAS GONE BAD, FORCING ME TO LOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER TO THE ENGINE. INCREDIBLY HARD TO DIAGNOSE THE EXACT PROBLEM. REPLACED MULTIPLE SENSORS AND FUSES AND ISSUE STILL EXIST.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WHEN THE CONTACT ARRIVED AT THE DEALER, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING AT 545 AM MONDAY, JAN 29TH. ADVANCETRAC POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. DRIVING IMMEDIATELY BECAME MORE DIFFICULT. HAD TO FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE. I DROVE HOME SAFELY. I LEARNED ABOUT THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, BUT FORD TOLD ME IT DIDNT APPLY. NOW, TODAY STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND I CAN NOT GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER. SEEMS TO ME LIKE THE RECALL MIGHT BE AT WORK AND MAY AFFECT MORE VEHICLES THAN IT WENT TO. STRANGE THING IS I BOUGHT THE CAR RIGHT AFTER THE RECALL NOTICES WENT OUT.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON BUT THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY FRONT END ACCIDENTS I GOT IN CAR AND STARTED, IT FLASHED THEN COME BACK ON AND STAYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS METAL-TO-METAL CONTACT BETWEEN THE BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING SENSOR FAILED TO NOTIFY THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN INCIDENT CONCERNING THIS RECALL HOWEVER THIS DEFECTIVE AIRBAG RECALL WENT INTO EFFECT ON JANUARY 10, 2017. AFTER OVER ONE YEAR I UNDERSTAND FROM OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THAT PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR/REPLACE THIS DEFECT HAVE NOT BEEN RECEIVED. HAVING RECENTLY SEEN NEWS STATING THERE HAVE BEEN INCIDENTS (SOME RESULTING IN DEATH) DUE TO THIS AIRBAG PROBLEM, I AM GETTING CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY SHOULD I BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. CAN YOU PLEASE UPDATE ME AS TO WHEN I CAN EXPECT RESOLUTION FROM TAKATA AND/OR FORD?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LIBERTY FORD SOLON (32811 AURORA RD, SOLON, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RCM WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT, DUE TO THE DATE THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED, THE VIN WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V597000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,300.
TAKATA INFLATORS - I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM, YET THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. SO I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT SAFE FOR ME OR MY FAMILY
2012 FORD FUSION SEL 67000 MILES. DURING OPERATION THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A SERVICE POWER STEERING ASSIST NOTICE. WITHOUT CHANGE TO STEERING HABIT. LUCKILY WHILE PULLING INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT THE NOTICE CHANGED TO SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND PROCEEDED TO LOSE POWER STEERING ALTOGETHER. AFTER TAKING IT TO CHARLES GABUS FORD, THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND TOLD ME IT WAS $1500 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM DUE TO A FAILURE. THEY ALSO TELL ME THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON MY SPECIFIC VIN. ALTHOUGH ON THE FORD WEBSITE AND YOURS, I SEE A RECALL ON 2012 FORD FUSIONS FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. IT IS OBVIOUS NOT ALL THE APPROPRIATE VEHICLES WERE RECALLED SINCE MINE FAILED AND DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT. LIKE I SAID EARLIER. LUCKILY I WAS ALREADY IN A PARKING LOT MOVING AT A SLOW SPEED. IF I WERE STILL ON THE HIGHWAY LIKE I WAS 5 MINUTES PRIOR, THEN I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE THE LEAST BIT SYMPATHETIC NOR HELPFUL. CONTINUED TO SEND ME AN EMAIL DECLINING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR ALTHOUGH I AM CURRENTLY GOING TO.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the battery was replaced; however, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering warning light illuminated. Additionally, the steering wheel became firm, and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact about NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 238,000.
PER THE REPORT PUBLISHED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. MY VEHICLE IS IN PRIORITY GROUP 7, AND THE DEADLINE LISTED FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE SPARE PARTS TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WAS DECEMBER 31, 2017. AS OF JANUARY 13, 2018, THE STATEMENT PROVIDED BY FORD IS THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE AND CANNOT PROVIDE DATA AS TO WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. NHTSA HAS THE AUTHORITY TO FINE FORD FOR NOT MEETING THE DEADLINE, AND AS ATAX PAYER I EXPECT NHTSA TO FINE FORD THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED BY LAW FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE AGREED TO DEADLINE TO HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO REMDY THE LIFE THREATENING SAFETY DEFECT WITH MY VEHICLE. DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS DEFECT IS NO SAFER THAT PUTTING 3-BULLETS IN A REVOLVER AND SPENDING TWO HOUR A DAY SPING THE TRIGGER AND PULLING THE TRIGGER. WHEN IS NHTSA GOING TO DO ITS JOF AND FORCE THE AUTOMANUFACTURERS TO FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE VEHICLES?
POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. FORD HAS DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE, AND REPLACING OF STEERING GEAR IS REQUIRED DUE TO POWER STEERING FAILURE. DIAGNOSTICS CODE U3000. IN MY OPINION, THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL #15S18. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 6 DAYS OUTSIDE THE TIME WINDOW FOR RECALL #15S18. HOWEVER, IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE SAME FACILITY, ONLY 6 DAYS OUTSIDE THE TIME WINDOW FOR RECALL. I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL #15S18, AND FORD DIAGNOSTICS CONFIRMED THIS. I'D LIKE TO KNOW THE STEPS TO TAKE IN ORDER TO HAVE FORD HONOR THIS RECALL. THANK YOU.

ON 1/4/18 I GOT IN MY CAR AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT, IT WOULD STOP PULLING AT SPEEDS OVER 40MPH. THINKING IT COULD POSSIBLE BE A TIRE ISSUE I HAD THEM ROTATED (TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 12K MILES ON THEM) I THEN NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS NOW PULLING TO THE RIGHT CONSTANTLY. WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE CAR FLASHED A SERVICE ADVANCTRAC AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW WARNING. WHILE I WAS TRAVELING 60MPH THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT COMPLETELY. THANKFULLY I WAS GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND NOT GOING AROUND A CORNER. OR THAT WE WERE NOT TRAVELING DURING WINTER CONDITIONS. AT THAT POINT I FIGURED I DIDN'T HAVE A TIRE ISSUE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. AFTER INSPECTION THE CLAIMED THAT I HAD A FAULTY STEERING GEAR. I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH BEFORE THEY HAD DIAGNOSED IT TO SEE IF IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE FUSIONS. I THEN NOTICED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THAT EXACT ISSUE I WAS HAVING. WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE TECH IF IT WAS AN ISSUE THAT WAS WARRANTIED THEY CLAIMED IT WASN'T. AFTER PAYING $1520 TO HAVE THE GEAR REPLACE. I CALLED FORD TO INFORM THEM OF MY CONCERN OF HOW UNSAFE IT WAS TO HAVE YOUR POWER STEERING CUT OUT. ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS IS MY WIFE'S DAILY DRIVER. THEY TOLD ME 'JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT OTHER CARS HAVE COVERED UNDER RECALL DOESN'T MEAN YOURS IS COVERED.' WHICH IS ALARMING TO SAY THE LEAST.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE DOOR WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BUFF FORD (111 S. IL ROUTE 31, MC HENRY, IL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
THE DASHBOARD INFO DISPLAYS "POWER ASSIST FAILURE" WHEN STATIONARY (A COLD START), EITHER WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, OR AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL REQUIRE GREAT EFFORT TO TURN IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS WARNING HAPPENS NOW ABOUT 1 TO 3 TIMES A WEEK. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 74000 MILES. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS 80000 MILES. TO WORK AROUND THE PROBLEM, THE IGNITION IS TURNED TO OFF, TURNED ON AGAIN, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, THEN RESTART THE MOTOR. THE STEERING MAY FEEL TIGHT WHEN TURNED FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND, BUT WILL LOOSEN AS THE POWER STEERING WORKS AGAIN. THE WARNING HAS NOT REPEATED AFTER RESTARTING. SO FAR, THE STEERING HAS NOT FAILED (BECOME TIGHT) WHILE DRIVING. THE WARNING AT START UP OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY IN COLD OR WET WEATHER. THE CAR WAS LAST SERVICED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AT ABOUT 72000 MILES WITH THE ONLY NOTICE THE BRAKES NEED SERVICE SOON. THE SYNC SYSTEM REPORTS INDICATE NO PROBLEMS WHEN UPLOADED TO THE AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY. IT WAS COLD THIS MORNING 25 F WHEN THE "POWER ASSIST FAILURE" REOCCURRED AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING, THE WARNING DID NOT REPEAT, BUT STEERING WAS STIFF ABOUT 1 SECOND. I DECIDED TO REPORT THIS. THIS STEERING TYPE ISSUE HAS NEVER OCCURRED IN PREVIOUS CARS I HAVE OWNED. THESE ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEMS NEEDS TO BE BANNED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO, THEY ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP IN THE STREET. ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT IDLE. GAS PEDAL HAD NO RESPONSE. DIDN'T SEE ANY FAULT INDICATORS. SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. PUSHED GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESPONSE. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS GAS PEDAL STARTED WORKING. SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND DROVE TO SIDE OF ROAD. DROVE VEHICLE TO DEALER. THEY PULLED FAULT CODE P1285. DEALER REPLACED RADIATOR FAN AND HEAD TEMPERATURE SENSOR. WORKING OKAY SO FAR. (3 DAYS)
TAKATA RECALL POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. STARTED THE VEHICLE UP AND STARTED TO DRIVE AND NO POWER STEERING. CAR STARTED MAKING A DINGING NOISE AND THE INFORMATION BOX ON THE DASH SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING ADVANCE TRAC NOW.
NO ACCENT PROTECTION FOR MY FRONT PASSENGER.
THE FRONT, PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK ALL THE TIME. TO GET IT TO LOCK, YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE DOOR LATCH CLOSED AND MANUALLY PRESS THE LOCK LEVER ON THE DOOR. LOCKING IT WITH THE FOB DOESN'T WORK, NOR DOES PRESSING THE LOCK SWITCH (THAT NORMALLY LOCKS ALL THE DOORS IN THE CAR).
AS I DROVE INTO WORK PARKING LOT STEERING POWER LIGHT CAME ON. TWO HOURS LATER I WENT TO TRY THE CAR AND STEERING WAS GONE AND HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE IT TO A STATION. THE RACK AND PINION ARE NOT WORKING.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN POWER STEERING SERVICE NOTIFICATION CAME ON. WE PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. UPON TURNING THE CAR BACK ON, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE FROM THAT POINT AND HAD TO BE TOWED.

I VERIFIED THIS ON YOUR SITE IN 2017 WHICH SHOWED MY VEHICLE AS NEEDING MY AIRBAGS REPLACED. I CALLED KEN STOEPEL FORD AND THE LADY THAT ANSWERED "POOH PAHED'' THIS AND SAID IT WAS B.S. NOW I'M NOT SO SURE AND AM TIRED OF PEOPLE PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH MINE AND MY FAMILY'S LIVES. COMPLAINT INVOLVES TAKATA AIRBAGS AND THE POSSIBLE INJURY ASSOCIATED WITH A COLLISION.

THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COMPUTER CHIP MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

WHEN TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL ON THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RECALL. THEY STATED THE RECALL ONLY COVERED CERTAIN CARS MANUFACTURED DURING CERTAIN MONTHS, MINE NOT BEING ONE. I FEEL THAT THE RECALL SHOULD COVER MORE OF THE MANUFACTURING DATES DUE TO MY RESEARCH ONLINE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAVE BEEN TOLD BY FORD THAT THEIR NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A USED DEALERSHIP AND WAS NEVER INFORMED ABOUT THE RECALL. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP THERE INFORMED ME TO CALL FORD, WHEN I DID MY CAR WAS AT 151,000 MILES. FORD IS REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 101,000 MILES ON IT.
