TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING UNIT WAS REPROGRAMMED PER AN UNSPECIFIED RECALL REPAIR. TWO YEARS LATER, THE STEERING LOST POWER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, REINEKE FORD IN LINA, OHIO, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING UNIT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS ALREADY REMEDIED PER AN UNSPECIFIED RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
CAR READS "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO STEER AND TAKES MAXIMUM EFFORT TO CONTROL. FIRST WARNING GENERATED WHILE PARKED AND UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. NO PRIOR INDICATIONS TO A PROBLEM.
THE INTERIOR DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW HAS TO BE ROLLED DOWN TO USE THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO VETERANS FORD IN METAIRIE, LA WHERE THEY LOOKED AT THE ISSUE AND THEN SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO REPAIR IT. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T GET TO IT FOR THREE DAYS AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN AND DECIDE WHAT TO DO. I EXPLAINED MY SAFETY CONCERNS TO TWO DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIVES BUT THEY STILL WOULD NOT TAKE ANY ACTION.
ON MAY 23, 2017 VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. IT WAS ON A CITY STREET. SUFFERED NUMBER 2 FRACTURE OF NECK
RECALL STATES THERE IS A SAFETY DEFECT WITH THE AIRBAGS THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. ANY SAFETY DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND PLACES THE OCCUPANTS AT RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE. IT NHTSA LEGAL AND MORAL RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM SUCH SAFETY DEFECTS. OTHER THAN THE RECALL NOTICE, THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY DETAIL OR UPDATE ON WHEN THEY WILL FIX THE DEFECT OTHER THAN TO SAY WE WILL SEND YOU A LETTER. FORD PROVIDED A NUMBER TO CALL FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, BUT THE ONLY INFORMATION THEY PROVIDE IS THAT THERE IS NOTING THEY CAN DO AND THEY WILL SEND A LETTER AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE. I REALLY WISH THE NHTSA WOULD REALLY DO THEIR JOBS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND INSURE THESE COMPANIES CORRECT THESE LIFE THREATENING SAFETY DEFECT AND PROVIDE THE CONSUMERS SAFE ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THE LIFE THREATENING SAFETY DEFECTS IN THE VEHICLES THEY HAVE SOLD. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT FILED AND NHTSA DID NOT RESPOND TO THE INITIAL COMPLAINT. FAILURE TO RESPOND TO THIS COMPLAINT WILL LEAD TO A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO THE OIG ON YOUR NEGLIGENCE IN THIS MATTER!
DRIVING ON 6 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN I LOST POWER TO THE VEHICLE AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. GOT PUSHED TO THE DEALER THAT WAS A BLOCK AWAY. THE DEALER SAID THEY DID THEIR $129 TEST - NO FAULTS AND MY CAR WAS READY TO DRIVE HOME. I WASN'T GOING TO LEAVE UNTIL IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE WAS ANOTHER $129 TEST THAT THEY COULD DO. THIS TEST DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING BUT WHEN THE TECH WAS DRIVING IT STALLED ON HIM. THEY REPLACED THE PURGE VALVE ( FOR FREE, WASN'T CHARGED FOR EITHER TEST) BUT HE HOPED THAT THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. TWO DAYS LATER, HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON ANOTHER 6 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 30 MPH AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY VEHICLE BEHIND ME. I LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND IT WAS ROUGH STARTING BUT GOT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT'S BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 24 HOURS AND THEY ARE "SCRATCHING" THEIR HEADS TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG.
TAKATA INFLATORS, IT HAS BEEN 1 YEAR SINCE I GOT MY RECALL NOTICE AND I HAVE BEEN CALLING FORD REGARDING THIS AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED/REPLACED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, MY WARNING SENSORS BEEPED ALONG WITH THE WORDS FLASHING THAT SAID 'POWER STEERING FAILURE.' THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A GAS STATION CLOSE BY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO THE NEAREST GAS STATION YET THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD HARDLY TURN. I BOUGHT SOME POWER STEERING FLUID AND PUT THAT IN THE CAR YET IT STILL WOULD NOT TURN PROPERLY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT AM. AFTER FORD LOOKED AT THE CAR, THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT IT NEEDED A POWER STEERING GEAR BOX REPLACED AND WOULD COST $1,675.00. AFTER TALKING TO THEM AND OBTAINING A SECOND QUOTE FROM A DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP, I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT INVOLVED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. I THEN CALLED FORD MANUFACTURER TOLL FREE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT YES THERE WAS A RECALL YET BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE MY CAR IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED IN 2015, THAT FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THIS REPAIR. I INFORMED THE MAN THAT I WAS NOT TOLD OF ANY RECALL SO HOW WOULD I HAVE KNOWN TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP? FURTHERMORE, I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THIS DEALERSHIP AFTER THE RECALL WAS PUBLISHED (FOR A DIFFERENT ISSUE) AND THEY DID NOT SAY ANYTHING TO ME AT THAT TIME ABOUT THERE BEING AN OPEN RECALL. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING AT THE TIME I WAS THERE FOR A DIFFERENT ISSUE IF THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. NOW I AM BEING CHARGED $1675 FOR A REPAIR THAT FORD HAS FIXED FOR OTHER CONSUMERS FOR FREE OF CHARGE. THIS WILL BE MY LAST FORD CAR AS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXTREMELY UNFAIR. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE CHARGES THAT I AM SPENDING TO REPAIR MY CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V024000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (FAIRWAY FORD, 1350 E YORBA LINDA BLVD, PLACENTIA, CA 92870, (714) 579-3800) DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE A REASONABLE DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AS A RESULT OF A RECALL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECT HAD RUINED MY ENGINE AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FORD HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WHICH IS NOW INOPERABLE. THEY CLAIM IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY BUT HOW CAN MY WARRANTY BE VOID IF IT'S A RECALL DEFECT.
BOTH PASSENGER & DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLES BROKE. COULD NOT OPEN CAR DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. HAD TO OPEN WINDOW TO OPEN DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. DEALER SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND PAID TO HAVE BOTH ASSEMBLY'S REPLACED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET OUT OF MY CAR RIGHT AWAY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.

THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS22237575. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTIES HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BOLT FROM THE ENGINE FRACTURED AND HIT THE CV JOINT. GREASE FLOODED THE CV JOINT WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,894. UPDATED 07/11/17*LJ CONSUMER STATED HE WORKED ON THE VEHICLE ENGINE TO GET THE BROKEN BOLT OUT, BUT WAS NOT ABLE, BECAUSE HE DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TOOL. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL, BUT MY CAR FOR SOME REASON DOESN'T FALL UNDER IT.

TWO MONTHS AGO, I WAS DRIVING AND MY STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. THERE WAS A WHINING SOUND EVERY TIME I MADE A TURN. CHECKED THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. I REFILLED IT AND A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH STEERING AND THE WHINE WHEN TURNING WAS BACK. THE POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AGAIN. I HAVE REFILLED THE RESERVOIR AGAIN. NO OBVIOUS SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOME 2012 FORD FUSIONS BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND MINE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
I OWN A 2012 FORD FUSION AND THE CAR HAS STARTED SHUTTING DOWN WHEN I SLOW AND WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHTS. IT JERKS AT TIMES WHICH MADE ME THINK IT WAS BAD GAS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THEN IT STARTED SHUTTING OFF. I'VE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL AUTO PLACES AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IT IS. I HAVE READ AND RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT IT'S HAPPENING A LOT. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL FROM FORD ON THIS? I WILL THINK TWICE FROM BUYING ANOTHER FORD..
THE DRIVER'S DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN FROM THE INSIDE; I HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND FLIP THE OUTSIDE LATCH. I WAS THINKING THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT HAPPENED IN AN EMERGENCY THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE "LEFT FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE". THEY SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

AFTER THE SECOND FAILURE, AN UNKNOWN DEALER STATED THAT THE FIRST DEALER MIGHT NOT HAVE REPAIRED THE FAILURE CORRECTLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND REFEREED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

"TAKATA RECALL" I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD IN MARCH OF 2017 ADVISING OF A RECALL BECAUSE OF DEFECT IN PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN THE PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE WAS AVAILABLE. I HAVE PERIODICALLY BEEN CHECKING WITH MY DEALERSHIP, ROUNTREE IN SHREVEPORT, WITH THE ORR FORD DEALERSHIP IN STONEWALL AND OTHER FORD DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS, ONLY TO BE TOLD THE PART HAS NOT COME IN YET. IN MARCH I WAS TOLD IT WAS EXPECTED IN APRIL. TODAY I WAS TOLD IT WAS EXPECTED IN A FEW WEEKS. I AM STARTING TO THINK THE PROBLEM WILL NEVER BE RESOLVED.
FOR A WHILE KNOW MY CAR WOULD RANDOMLY STOP. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULD DECREASE IN SPEED AND THEN SHAKE AT WHICH TIME I WOULD PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN AFTER SOME TIME I AM ABLE TO START THE CAR UP AGAIN AND GET BACK ON THE ROAD. NO MECHANIC CAN ACTUALLY FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR SO THEY JUST KEEP TELLING ME TO COME BACK IF IT DOES IT AGAIN. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUEL FILTER SO I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC TO USE FUEL INJECTION CLEANER IN MY CAR. I HAVE DONE THAT AND IT APPEARED TO WORK HOWEVER IT STARTED UP AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE OFF AND ON FOR A WHILE BUT CAN NEVER FIND THE ISSUE. I AM WONDERING WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS. I NOTICED THAT WITH THIS MODEL YEAR EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I LIVE IN HOUSTON AND OUR FREEWAYS ARE NOT THE BEST PLACES TO BREAK DOWN.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,561.

DOOR WOULD ALSO NOT LOCK WITH ELECTRIC LOCKS. HAD TO CLIMB OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT WOULD OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE THOUGH.
TAKATA RECALL. FORD SENT RECALL LETTER FOR VEHICLE AIRBAG DEFECT. THEY SAY THE REPLACMENT IS NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER, AND NATIONAL CALL NUMBER TO COMPLAIN AND TRY TO GET REPAIR OF THE RECALL DEFECT. IT IS NOT AVAILABLE. NO ONE KNOWS WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. MAYBE MONTHS. I WAS TOLD THE PART MUST BE DESIGNED AND MFG, BEFORE AVAILABLE. I REQUESTED INTERIM REPAIR OR LOANER. NONE IS AVAILABLE. I TOLD THEM MY CONCERN OF DRIVING VEHICLE WITH DEFECT. TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATORS I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE DATED 2/22/2017 FOR PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACEMENT. I CONTACTED MY DEALER, RACEWAY FORD IN RIVERSIDE, CA AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER MARCH 2017 FROM FORD SAYING I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY FORD WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL. I CONTINUE TO CHECK WITH MY DEALERSHIP AND AS OF 1/10/2018 THEY STILL SAID NO REPLACEMENT WAS AVAILABLE. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT I HAVE NOT HAD THE RECALL FIXED OR AT LEAST BE GIVEN A TIME FRAME THAT IT WOULD BE RESOLVED. I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER LETTERS FROM FORD AND IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR DRIVING A RECALLED VEHICLE!
TAKATA RECALL FORD HAS SEND A RECALL ON MARCH 2017 AND AS OF TODAY, OCTOBER 29TH 2018 HAS NOT YET PROVIDED REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTED AIRBAG. FURTHERMORE IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS A DASHBOARD LIGHT OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, SAYING THAT IT IS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL.
