THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM'S ELECTRICAL DEFAULT AND POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO FORCEFULLY PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND ASKED AN EYEWITNESS TO ASSIST AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR HER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER (HERRING FORD INC, 820 MEMORIAL BLVD, PICAYUNE, MS, 39466). THE DEALER REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE WHERE THEY DENIED SERVICING THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO THE MILEAGE. AFTER THE CONTACT CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE LOOKING AT THE WRONG INFORMATION AND THE CONTACT WAS CORRECT; HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED SERVICE DUE TO A VERBAL INCIDENT AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY SERVICED IN 2012. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER (SUPREME FORD OF SLIDELL, 400 E HOWZE BEACH RD, SLIDELL, LA, 70461) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING AND THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S WIFE PULLED OVER TO THE CLOSEST PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TAYLOR FORD LOCATED AT 13500 TELEGRAPH RD, TAYLOR, MI 48180 WHERE THE POWER STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMED THE POWER STEERING MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED 2 OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND A COMPLAINT HAD BEEN FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. A CASE NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING BOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on three separate occasions the power steering failed to operate as needed while driving. After the first failure the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); however, a year later, the failure occurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the steering column was repaired out of pocket. Recently, the contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the "Service Power Steering" message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home where the vehicle remained in her possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The contact stated the power steering issue was due to the rack & pinion and having a mechanic fix the problem again, out of pocket, as the warranty for the power steering recall performed in 2017 has somehow expired, according to Ford.
THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY HAS FAILED TWICE WITHIN 500 MILES. (THE VEHICLE HAS 71500 AS OF THIS WRITING) BOTH TIMES THIS HAS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHILE DRIVING ON A FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD AT A STEADY SPEED WITH LITTLE INPUT FROM THE ACCELERATOR. IN BOTH CIRCUMSTANCES THE CAR HAS THUDDED INTO "LIMP MODE" WHERE THE CAR CAN ONLY COAST OF THE ROAD. A RESTART SEEMS TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM.
SECOND TIME INSIDE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKE, CAN'T GET OUT OF VEHICLE UNLESS YOU ROLL DOWN ELECTRIC WINDOW AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. CAR HAS TO BE TURNED ON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. OTHERWISE YOU WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OUT TO PASSENGER SIDE. THIS COULD BE A REAL SAFETY HAZARD IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. FORD ONLY WARRANTS THE HANDLE WHEN FIXED BY THEM FOR TWO YEAR. WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT 15 MONTHS AND IT BREAKS AGAIN. HERE GOES ANOTHER 216.00 PLASTIC PART INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BREAKS.
TAKTA RECALL NOT BEING ADDRESSED. MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SEAM SPLIT WITH A AUDIBLE POP WHEN TRAVELING FROM ARIZONA TO WYOMING IN EXTREME TEMPERATURES.
AFTER STARTING MY CAR, THE POWDER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIT UP ON THE DASH. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THAT AFTERNOON WHEN I GOT BACK IN MY CAR AND STARTED IT,. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED BOTH TIMES AND ON LEVEL GROUND.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED. THERE IS A DASH ALERT THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDS SERVICE NOW, ALSO AN ALERT FOR THE AUTOTRAK. THERE IS A FORD RECALL FOR THIS PART ON THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR CAR, BUT FOR WHAT EVER REASON MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME THING. WHY WAS THE RECALL LIMITED TO CERTAIN VIN #"S AND NOT EVERY VEHICLE THAT HAS THIS PART ON IT. THE DEALER REPAIR IS APPROX. $1700. PLEASE HELP
THE DOOR HANDLE ATTACHMENT BROKE INSIDE THE DOOR FRAME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY MECHANICS THIS IS HAPPENING ALOT ON FORD FUSIONS BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED SO I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. IF IT IS A FORD FUSION PROBLEM THEM WHY ARE NOT ALL INCLUDED.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE HAS ISSUES WHILE TRANSMISSION IS UPSHIFTING . HAVE HAD VEHICLE SERVICED FOR COMPLAINT AT FORD YET CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE EVEN AFTER REPAIR WAS MADE
THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER AND FRONT SEAT DRIVER DOOR HAS FAILED AND THE DOOR CAN NOT OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER DOOR OPENER WAS REPAIRED ONE AND A HALF YEARS AGO AND THE DRIVER DOOR IS BEING REPAIRED ON JULY 18, 2017. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE IS PROBLEMATIC. THE WINDOW MUST LOWERED AND THE DRIVER MUST REACH OUTSIDE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE.
RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE - SENSOR ASSEMBLY FAILED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" WARNING INDICATOR DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE IN THE REVERSE POSITION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). FORD PARKSIDE DRIVE OF KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY $138 BEFORE PERFORMING THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
ON JULY 8, 2017 WHILE RIDING AS A PASSENGER AND MY HUSBAND DRIVING WITH OUR 5 YR OLD NIECE IN THE BACK STRAPPED IN HER CAR SEAT. A WARNING ON THE DASH BOARD SHOWED "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC"/"SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" WE IMMEDIATELY HEADED FOR THE NEAREST AUTO STORE TO PURCHASE POWER STEERING FLUID AND IN DOING SO WE QUICKLY NOTICED THAT MY HUSBAND HAD TO USE MUSCLE AND ADDITIONAL EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER FINDING OUT WE HAD AN ELECTRONIC MODULE AND COULD NOT MANUALLY REFILL THE POWER STEERING WE TOOK THE CHANCE OF HEADING HOME WHILE MY HUSBAND CONTINUED TO AGGRESSIVELY GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT. WHEN LOOKING UP RECALL INFORMATION I NOTICED THAT ACCORDING TO OUR VIN NUMBER OUR 2013FORD FUSION SE WAS NOT OF THE SPECIFIC MODELS COVERED. WE HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JULY 11TH AND PAY $95.00 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE OBVIOUS PROBLEM AND GET AN ESTIMATE. WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A WARNING REGARDING THIS MALFUNCTION FROM FORD THAT OUR LIVES COULD SUDDENLY BE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT AND THE FACT THAT WE LIVE ON MODEST INCOME AND HAVE ONLY ONE CAR. WE EXPECT FORD TO DO THEIR DUE DELIGENCE IN EXTENDING THE RECALL TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR FOR THE POWER STEERING ON OUR 2012 FORD FUSION. WE HAVE ALWAYS AND ONLY PURCHASED OUR CARS FROM FORD AND LOOK FORWARD TO BEING PROVIDED EXCELLENT AND HONORABLE SERVICE IN RETURN SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE TESTING CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SEARCHED HER VIN ON NHTSA.GOV AND NOTICED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OTHER REPAIRS NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIR COULD BE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND AGREED WITH THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN CASE NUMBER: CA127256238 BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,300.
I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT BEST THE FORD DEALERSHIPS IN CLOVIS/PORTALES, NM. THEY WON'T FIX MY STEERING ISSUES. IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED THAT I NEED A RACK & PINION FOR MY 2012 FORD FUSION.
THE DRIVERS INSIDE DOOR HADLE WON'T OPEN THE DOOR. THE CAR WAS SITTING IN MY GARAUGE WHEN THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE. FORD IS CHARGING US $240 TO FIX IT. THE CAR ODOMETER HAS ABOUT 46,000 MILES.
AT 80,000 MILES SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS CHECK ADVANCETRAX NOTICE. THE NEXT TIME CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE. TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID TIRE WAS UNDERINFLATED BUT IF LIGHT CAME BACK ON NEEDED NEW STEERING COLUMN. FOR $1600. DROVE TWO WEEKS WITH STEERING OK THEN SAME MESSAGE APPEARED AND STEERING WENT OUT SO HAD A MECHANIC(NOT FORD DEALER) REPLACE STEERING COLUMN PART AND NOW TWO WEEKS LATER SAME PROBLEM WITH NO POWER STEERING. READ THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR FUSIONS MADE AT MEXICO PLANT BUT MY VEHICLE WAS EITHER MADE JUST BEFORE OR JUST AFTER RECALL DATES. RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL FUSIONS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. EACH TIME WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON, IT WASN'T UNTIL CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THAT POWER STEERING WENT OUT.

I AM A LIEUTENANT ON THE SAINT JOHN FIRE DEPARTMENT IN SAINT JOHN, INDIANA. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THE 2012 FORD FUSION SE. SHE WAS ON A TRIP IN TEXAS WHEN THIS STEERING FAILURE ACCURED. SHE WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO STEER IT INTO A SAFE PARKING AREA WHEN THIS HAPPENED. SHE WAS 100 MILES FROM HOME WHEN SHE CALLED ME TO TELL ME OF THIS PROBLEM. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON-LINE AND THAT IS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILURE RECALL # 15S18. EVIDENTLY, THIS HAS EFFECTED OVER 500,000 VEHICLES. BEING IN THE FIRE BUSINESS I AM THANKFUL THAT NOTHING HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR WORSE !! I ADVISED HER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK HOME AND TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP INSTEAD OF GETTING IT TOWED FROM OVER 100 MILES AWAY IF SHE THOUGHT SHE COULD DRIVE IT SLOW AND SAFELY. SHE WAS INDEED ABLE TO DRIVE IT BACK HOME AND PARKED IT AT THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO HER HOME. THE VEHICLE IS THERE RIGHT NOW AS I AM TYPING THIS COMPLAINT. I DO NOT HAVE A COST ESTIMATE FOR THIS REPAIR AS OF YET. I WANT FORD TO TAKE FULL AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBLITY FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL # 15S18 AND PAY FOR ALL EXPENSES TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE. IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A WORST CASE SCENARIO ( IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN ) THEN WE WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT A LAWSUIT INSTEAD OF A REPAIR AND COSTING FORD MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO SAY THE LEAST !!

( I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY DID) WELL DUE TO LOCKING UP NOW THEY SAYING THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE BAD N THEY WONT FIX IT. I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS DAMAGES THAT OBVIOUSLY THE FORD IS COVERING UP. I NEED HELP I HAVE 4 KIDS AND I FEEL THE DEALERSHIP COMMITTED FRAUD BY EVEN HAVING THIS CAR ON THE MARKET IM STUCK WITH A CAR DONT OBVIOUSLY ITS A DEATH TRAP. WENT TO OPEN MY DOOR TO GET OUT OF THE CAR & OUT OF NOWHERE THE INSIDE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. IT WAS FINE NOT 20 MINS BEFORE. TO GET OUT OF MY CAR I HAVE TO PUT MY WINDOW DOWN & REACH OUTSIDE & OPEN IT WITH THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. IT'S A REAL PAIN IN THE A$$ ESPECIALLY WHEN IT RAINS. I'VE READ THAT MANY FUSIONS ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND FORD DID DO A RECALL BUT MY YEAR MODEL (2012) HASN'T BEEN INCLUDED YET. I'M HOPING THEY EXPAND IT SOON BECAUSE CLEARLY FROM MY EXPERIENCE & THAT OF MANY OTHERS THE 2012 IS CLEARLY AFFECTED.
IN APRIL 2017 I HAD A RECALL ON THROTTLE BODY. I QUICKLY TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. ON 6/21/17 I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED AND WOULD NOT START. AFTER HAVING CAR TOWED TO DEALER I AGAIN HAD THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE CODE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.

CAR INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS DOWN/STALLS OUT WITH NO WARNING WHEN ACCELERATING ,AT ALL SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. THE LITTLE WRENCH LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH BUT VEHICLE IS NOT THROWING ANY CODES. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!!! CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND NO RECALLS OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM FORD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. HARD TO BELIEVE NO ACTION BEING TAKEN AS OF YET WITH ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ FROM OTHER OWNERS. VERY DISAPPOINTED HERE. DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. MUST ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE UNLOCK BUTTON STAYS HALF OPEN; WON'T MOVE EITHER WAY.
AFTER POWER STEERING FAILED, CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL NOTICE AT LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED. 3 HOURS AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR, WHEN LEAVING WORK, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET GOING UNDER 40 MPH DECELERATING COMING TO A RED LIGHT. RECEIVED WARNING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCTRAC." THESE ARE THE SAME WARNINGS RECEIVED PRIOR TO REPAIR. THE CAR WENT IMMEDIATELY AND GROSSLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT. ABOVE 55 MPH, THE CAR SHAKES SEVERELY. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THE REPAIR NEEDED FALLS UNDER THE TSB 11-11-3 RELATED TO HIGH FRICTION IN THE CONTROL ARMS; HOWEVER, THE TSB STATES THAT THIS PROBLEM ONLY CAUSES THE STABILITY/TRACTION INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS EVERYTHING UNDER MY CAR LOOKS TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION AND THAT THIS HAS TO BE THE PROBLEM, STATING THAT THE HIGH FRICTION IS CAUSING THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO LOCK UP WHICH IS THEN FAILING THE POWER STEERING ALL TOGETHER. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING MODULE. THE VEHICLE HAS 145,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 6 YEARS WITHOUT ISSUE.
MY 2012 FORD FUSION SEL, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STATIONARY POINT ON A CITY STREET, MY ENGINE LOSES POWER AND STARTS TO SPUTTER BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF ON ITS OWN. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, WHERE I'D HAVE TO COMPLETELY STOP, PUT THE GEAR IN PARK, AND RESTART THE ENGINE.
