TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLYWHEEL FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT ON MY 2012 FORD FUSION. *TR
I BACKED OUT OF MY GARAGE AND THE STEERING "LOCKED". I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN "POWER STEERING " ETC. I CHECKED THE MANUAL AND FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO WAIT 10 MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN. IT WORKED BUT I DID NOT DRIVE. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY DEALER ON JULY 1. THEY ORDERED PARTS TO ARRIVE NEXT DAY. MY HUSBAND PICKED ME UP. THIS IS A SCARY SITUATION ! *TR
NHTSA #14V286 RECALLS FORD EXPLORERS FOR LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST, BUT THIS SHOULD INCLUDE OTHER MODELS. MY DAUGHTER'S 2012 FORD FUSION HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND NEARLY CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS WHEN SHE WAS TURNING AT INTERSECTIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000. *TR
MY FIRST INCIDENT WAS DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE APPEARED WITH A STRANGE BEEPING NOISE FOLLOWED BY AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I TURNED OFF MY CAR AND GOT IT BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK TO ITS NORMAL LEVELS. LATER THE NEXT DAY, THE CAR WAS IN MOVEMENT OVER 30MPH WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE HIGHWAY AND THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON AGAIN MAKING MY CAR TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE CAUSING ME TO ALMOST CRASH. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE CAR OUT OF THE HIGH WAY IN ORDER TO HAVE THE STEERING LEVELS BACK BY TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. TODAY I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD SERVICE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR CHECKED BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO ABOUT THIS INCIDENT FOR WHAT SUGGESTED ME TO CONTACT ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DURING THE NEXT INCIDENT AND HAVE THEM TAKE IN MY CAR TO THERE SERVICE TO FIX IT AT THE MOMENT. I MENTIONED THAT IF THAT WAS TO BE DONE MY CAR WOULD OBVIOUSLY HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF AND ON IN THE PROCESS CAUSING THE ISSUE TO MOMENTARILY DISAPPEAR FOR WHAT HE WOULD STILL NOT BE ABLE TO WITNESS THE INCIDENT AS HE REQUEST, JUST LIKE TODAY. HE REFUSED TO MAKE ANY FURTHER COMMENTS INDICATING THAT WAS THE BEST THING HE COULD DO. *TR
LOST POWER STEERING WITH NO WARNING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. COULD PROCEED AHEAD, BUT COULD NOT MAKE LEFT TURN WITHOUT GREAT EFFORT. HAD TO BE TOWED.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN THE CAR OF MY TEENAGE DRIVER. WITHOUT WARNING, DISPLAYED A MESSAGE ON THE DASH BOARD 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' THEN THE SWERVING CAR LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE MESSAGE 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK'. THE CAR HAS BE TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON FOR THIS PROBLEM TO GO AWAY AND THE POWER STEERING TO RETURN TO NORMAL. HAPPENED AGAIN ON 6/25/13 GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, SAME MESSAGES. AND AGAIN ON 6/25/13 DURING A TURN FROM A BUSY STREET (NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT). *TR
THE CAR WAS BOUGHT A WEEK AGO AND BARELY DRIVEN SINCE THEN BUT NOW I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM MANY OWNERS ARE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WILL SHIFT FINE 1-2 BUT THEN WHEN IT GOES FROM 2-3 IT SEEMS TO SLIP AND THEN ENGINE REVS UP CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD AND THEN IT SOMEWHAT SLAMS INTO 3RD GEAR KIND OF HARD LIKE. HAVE NOT NOTIFIED ANYONE YET BUT I NOTICE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME SHIFTING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS THAT I CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT IT. AFTER TAKING OFF FROM A STOP MY TRANSMISSION WOULD SLAM WHEN GOING INTO 2 GEAR, SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND GOING BACK INTO FIRST AND REVVING UP TO ALMOST 7K RPM AND THEN SHIFT JERKING THE CAR WHEN SHIFTING. TOOK IT TOO THE DEALERSHIP THEY FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION AND SAID THAT WOULD FIX IT. IT DID FOR ABOUT 24 HOURS THEN IT GOT WORSE SO I TOOK IT BACK, THEN THEY INSTALLED A "SOFTWARE" UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION, THEY MADE MY GAS MILEAGE VERY POOR, TOOK IT BACK A 3RD TIME THEY FINALLY FOUND THAT A VALVE WAS STICKING AND REPLACED IT NOW SEEMS TO BEING DOING FINE. IM NOT THE ONLY ONE ON HERE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS MODEL CAR. *TR
ON 10/9/2013 I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND THEN WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GO ON A GREEN LIGHT, MY CAR STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR LIGHTS ON MY DASH WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A CAR BEHIND ME THAT ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. WENT TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT DID NOT START RIGHT AWAY. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK WITH HAZARDS ON, IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, AND TRIED TO START THE CAR TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN GIVING ME ISSUES WITH HESITATION AND VIBRATION FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD AND THEY HAVE CHECKED MY CAR 2 TIMES AND NEVER WAS ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BEFORE I TOOK IT TO FORD THE CAR HAS STALLED ON 6/19/2013 PRIOR TO TAKING THE CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD SHOP. THEY SAID IT WAS THE PROGRAMMING AND THEY INSTALLED THE UPDATE FOR THE COMPUTER, BUT IT NEVER SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME IT STALLED ON ME, MY HUSBAND, WHO IS AN ACURA TECHNICIAN, PULLED THE P2111 CODE OUT USING A POCKET CODE READER OUT OF FREEZE FRAME DATA. THERE WAS NO CODES STORED IN PCM 6 HRS AFTER THE INCIDENT. 2 DAYS LATER CHECKED FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA AGAIN AND THERE WAS NO FREEZE FRAME DATA. *TR
DRIVING ALONG DOING AROUND 35MPH, POWER STEERING FAILURE...DASHBOARD READ SERVICE ADVANCETRAC? TOOK IT TO HALL FORD, REPLACING STEERING GEAR...NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS. *TR
HAPPEN TWICE IN ONE DAY WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD GOING ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN THE CAR LOST SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO WHEN YOU WHEN YOU PUSHED THE GAS A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, THEN CALLED FORD THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR. I TOOK MY CAR TO A MANIACAL SHOP, THEY HOOKED THE CAR UP TO A MACHINE WHICH SHOWED THAT MY THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM WAS STUCK OPEN, I THEN CONTACTED FORD AGAIN WITH THIS INFORMATION GOT A CASE NUMBER. I THEN ASKED IF THEY HAD THE PART AN WERE ABLE TO FIX IT THEY THEN ADVISED ME THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND WOULD NOT BE UNTIL MID JULY (2013) TILL THEY COULD GET IT TO FIX MY CAR. *TR
I HAD STOPPED TO THE GAS ISLAND TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRES. AFTER BACKING OUT OF THE SPOT I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND TO MY SURPRISE THE CAR WOULD NOT TAKE ANY GAS. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND SHAKE. I CUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN BUT HAD TO RACE THE ENGINE TO GET IT TO CATCH. LATER THE SAME EVENING I AGAIN HAD BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, CUT THE CAR OFF AND BEGIN AGAIN. I KNOW THOUGHT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH BACKING UP. SO I DECIDED NOT TO BACK UP AGAIN. HOWEVER, EARLY THE NEXT MORNING BRINGING MY HUSBAND TO WORK IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND THEN AGAIN AS I WAS BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY SO THEY REPLACED IT. I HAVE ONLY OWNED FORD VEHICLES BUT I AM NOT HAPPY WITH HAVING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR THIS EARLY. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW. THANK GOD IT'S STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND AS I STARTED TO DRIVE IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH. I CONSULTED THE OWNER'S GUIDE WHICH GAVE INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN THE MOTOR OFF AND BACK ON AFTER 10 SECONDS. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, THE WARNING WAS OFF AND THE STEERING ISSUE WAS GONE. HOWEVER, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM (*WITH THE DASH WARNING) ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. *TR
DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT STEERING WITHOUT WARNING BECAME EXTREMELY HEAVY AND EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER ALMOST RESULTING IN A HEAD ON CRASH. "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LIVERMORE CA FORD DEALER. THEY SAID THEY FOUND THE FAULT CODES BUT COULD NOT VERIFY ANYTHING WAS WRONG OR DUPLICATE THE EVENT. SO THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T FIX ANYTHING PER FORD'S INSTRUCTIONS. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND TONS OF COMPLAINTS CAME UP ON EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. MANY HAD THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM REPLACED. DEALERSHIP IGNORED THIS WHEN I SENT IT TO THEM. *TR
TWO FAILURES RESET BY TURNING CAR OFF AND ON. ONE, PERMANENT, STILL NOT WORKING. WORST FAILURE WAS THE SECOND ONE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
POWER STEERING FAULT CAME ON ALL OF SUDDEN WHEN DRIVING HOME FROM PICKING UP MY KIDS. TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE AND HARD TO TURN. *TR
WHILE TURNING A CORNER THE "POWER STEERING FAILURE" MESSAGE APPEARED AND POWER STEERING WAS LOST. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO WARNING AND IS VERY UNSAFE. THIS CONDITION WARRANTS A RECALL FROM FORD AS IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. MAKE A RECALL HAPPEN AS THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED! *TR
WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE POWER ASSIST FAULT INDICATION OCCURRED. AS THE CAR CHANGED TO MANUAL STEERING IT PULLED THE CAR TO THE LEFT CAUSING THE CAR TO CROSS INTO THE OTHER LINE BEFORE COULD REACT TO THE MANUAL STEERING. THE CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER UNDER MANUAL STEERING, TAKING A LOT OF FORCE TO MAKE TURNS EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONCE GOT TO A PLACE TO STOP, THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD RESET THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WAS BY TURNING THE CAR TOTALLY OFF AND THEN RESTARTING THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPEN 6 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED, BUT THEY JUST SAID NO CODE OF THE FAULT WAS SHOWN AND THAT WAS IT. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFETY FACTOR UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS BUT WOULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM ON ICE OR SNOW DRIVING. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,200.
I NOTICED A "JUMPY RIDE' DURING TRIP TO ALBUQUERQUE AND BACK....FIRST ROAD TRIP SINCE BUYING CAR IN APRIL,'13. IT WAS SORT OF A SHIFTING OF A GEAR WHEN THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTHING LIKE THAT AT THAT SPEED. STARTED NOTICING AROUND TOWN AT 35 THE SAME JUMPY FEELING...JUST SEEMED LIKE TOO MUCH SHIFTING. THE RIDE IS VERY "ROUGH" ...NEVER HAD A CAR LIKE THIS...LOVED MY '09 FUSION, BUT THIS ONE STINKS. WHILE IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR STOP FUNCTIONING. CAUSING THE CAR TO BE EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. *TR
DRIVING ON FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND SLOWED TO 30-40 MPH. HAD TO CUT ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. LIMPED TO EXIT WHERE CAR DRIVEN AT SLOW SPEED. DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY INCREASED ACCELERATION AND FAILED TO DECELERATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURE WRIST AND INJURIES TO THE RIGHT KNEE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE SEVERE BODY DAMAGES TO THE FRONT END WERE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THIS STARTED LAST YEAR...WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN FEB. 2012....WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO YOUNGBLOOD FORD IN MADISON, GEORGIA WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AT LEAST FOUR TIMES...SOMETIMES WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN TO STOP THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND THE CAR JERKS....MAKING A NOISE...THEN AFTER THIS HAPPENS AND YOU PULL OFF AGAIN THE GEARS STALL IN BETWEEN SHIFTS AND ALMOST STALLS....HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT IN AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE OF THIS....TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A YEAR AGO AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION OR COMPUTER HAD TO BE RECALIBRATED......THE CAR WAS FINE FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND THEN STARTED AGAIN...I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK SEVERAL TIMES AND THE LAST TIME, I TOLD THEM TO KEEP THE CAR AND DRIVE IT FOR A DISTANCE, SINCE THE PROBLEMS SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER A TRIP OF 40 MILES OR MORE....THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK...I CALLED THEM AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED....BUT WHEN I DROVE THE CAR HOME ( ABOUT 25 MILES) THE CAR DID IT AGAIN...I HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH ME WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS, EVEN A BROTHER IN LAW THAT IS A MECHANIC... *TR

WHEN LEAVING SUPERMARKET AFTER CAR HAD BEEN SHUT OFF, WAS BACKING OUT OF PARKING STALL AND NEARLY HIT ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE POWER STEERING WAS INOPERATIVE. THIS DEFINITELY CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE! MESSAGE TO THE EFFECT "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" WAS DISPLAYED. DROVE CAR WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY TO DEALER. SERVICE REP AT DEALER TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED CAR; PROBLEM HAD GONE AWAY, POWER STEERING WAS NOW WORKING. MECHANIC AT DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS WHICH INDICATED A BAD STEERING MOTOR/STEERING GEAR. CAR IS BEING REPAIRED AT DEALER TO REPLACE STEERING MOTOR/STEERING GEAR. WOULD HAVE BEEN SCARY AND DANGEROUS IF THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT ON HIGHWAY. *TR

LEFT LICENSE PLATE LIGHT SOCKET SCREW WOULD NOT TIGHTEN. WHEN CLOSING THE TRUCK, THE LAMP ASSEMBLY WOULD HANG DOWN A LITTLE ON LEFT SIDE. I TIGHTENED THE SCREW AND FOUND IT TO BE STRIPPED. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD REPLACED THE LICENSE PLATE LAMP ASSEMBLY. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN AN ALARM SOUNDED AND TWO WARNING MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE DASH DISPLAY. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. HAD I BEEN EXECUTING A TURN AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE I LIKELY WOULD HAVE RUN INTO SOMETHING. THE STEERING IS EXTRAORDINARILY STIFF WHEN THE POWER ASSIST IS OFF. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS. IN THE PAST, RESTARTING THE VEHICLE CLEARED THE ERROR MESSAGE AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN. THIS TIME HOWEVER THE FAILURE SEEMS PERMANENT. FORD HAS EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THE FAILURE IS IN A MOTOR IN THE RACK AND PINION AND THE ENTIRE STEERING ASSEMBLY WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $1900.00. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS IT OCCURS WITH NO WARNING AND AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED SOME "CLUNKING" SOUNDS WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
WHILE DRIVING TO NATURAL BRIDGE, VA ON INTERSTATE 81. WARNING CHIME SOUNDED, PULL OVER SAFELY WARNING CAME ON, ENGINE SHUT OFF, BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR DISENGAGED, AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. IMMEDIATELY PUT ON HAZARDS AND TRIED TO PULL OVER. AVOIDED SIGNS AND MANEUVERED CAR SAFELY TO A SPEED WHERE I COULD STOP CAR BY PUTTING IN PARK. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART CAR. WHEN ABLE TO OBTAIN ?GREEN CAR? LIGHT (AS INDICATED SAFE TO DRIVE), PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PUSHED ACCELERATOR. CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND STALLED. ABLE TO RESTART CAR AFTER 10-15 MINS. AFTER THIS OCCURRED, CAR WAS HAVING TROUBLE ACCELERATING AND WAS SHAKING WHILE DRIVING. COULD NOT HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP DUE TO LOCATION. CONTACT DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND BROUGHT IT TO THEM AS SOON AS RETURNING HOME (APRIL 15TH). DEMANDED IT TO BE FIXED BEFORE RETURNING CAR. UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET CODES OR REACTIVATION.. . DEALERSHIP IN CONTACT WITH FORD TECH SERVICE WHO INFORMED THEM TO CHANGE THE BATTERY TO TRY TO ACTIVATE. THEY DID THIS AND WITHIN 10 MINS OF DRIVING IT TECH REPORTED WARNING CHIME SOUNDED, PULL OVER SAFELY WARNING CAME ON, ENGINE SHUT OFF, BREAKS AND ACCELERATOR DISENGAGED, AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. FORD TECH SERVICE CONTACTED AGAIN WHO INFORMED THEM TO CHECK ALL FUSES AND WIRES. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP ORDERING NEW PART TODAY TO TEST. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN A TOYOTA COROLLA REAR-ENDED MY VEHICLE. THE SPEED OF THE COROLLA WAS PROBABLY BETWEEN 40 - 50 MILES / HOUR BASED ON A ROAD SPEED OF 40 MILES / HOUR. MY DRIVER SEAT COLLAPSED BACKWARD DURING THE IMPACT LEADING TO INJURY OF BOTH MY SHOULDERS, BURST A COUPLE OF CERVICAL SPINE DISCS, LEAD TO BULGING THORACIC DISCS AND A SLIPPED LUMBAR VERTEBRAE, BILATERAL KNEE INJURY FROM SLIDING UP THE CHAIR, LEFT PERENNIAL NERVE PARESIS, INTERMITTENT NUMBNESS OF UPPER AND LOWER EXTREMITIES AND CHRONIC BACK PAIN. I WAS LUCKY THAT NOBODY WAS SITTING BEHIND ME IN THE CAR, OTHERWISE MY HEAD WOULD HAVE IMPACTED THEIR BODY PARTS. I CONTACTED FORD COMPANY TO INQUIRE ABOUT FAILURES OF THEIR SEATS IN REAR-END IMPACTS. INITIALLY, THEY OFFERED TO INSPECT THE CAR SEAT TO ASSESS IF A FAILURE HAS OCCURRED AND FIX IT. HOWEVER, A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, I WAS DISMAYED TO HEAR FROM THEM THAT IF I WANTED TO FILE A CLAIM FOR MEDICAL BILLS THEN I SHOULD DO THAT WITH MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY AND FORD WOULD MITIGATE THE INSURANCE COMPANY LOSSES. CAR SEATS SHOULD NOT COLLAPSE BACKWARD IN CASES OF INTERMEDIATE SPEED ACCIDENTS SINCE THAT COULD EXACERBATE SPINE INJURIES. ALSO, FOR THE COMPANY TO DECLINE TO INSPECT MY CAR SEAT FOR DEFECTS BASED ON THEIR LEGAL COUNSEL RECOMMENDATIONS SHOW LACK OF CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. I DID SOME LITERATURE AND ACCORDING TO IT, WHEN CAR SEATS COLLAPSE DURING REAR-END ACCIDENTS THERE IS A LACK OF SUPPORT OF THE SPINE. EVEN FORD'S WEBSITE CLAIM THAT THEIR CARS ARE SAFE IN REAR-END IMPACTS UP TO 60 MILES / HOUR. I HAVE PROOF THAT THE INJURIES SUSTAINED WERE DUE TO THE CAR ACCIDENTS. ABOUT 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, I HAD AN MRI OF WHOLE SPINE WHICH DID NOT SHOW THE ABOVE MENTIONED INJURIES ON FOLLOW UP MRI AFTER THE ACCIDENT. *TR

WITH GREAT EFFORT WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF OF THE ROAD WAY, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, LET IT SIT FOR 5 MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS DONE THIS THE FIRST TIME WASN'T A GREAT BIG DEAL SINCE WE WERE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE CAR IDLE. *TR
