SEPTEMBER 24, 2013-I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUT DOWN. THE WRENCH CAME UP AND IT LOSE ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO THE MEDIAN AS IT WAS 5;00 TRAFFIC. I TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN. DECEMBER 5, 2013.. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS I WAS ON A SIDE STREET. I TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. 2/24/2014 I WAS GOING TO WORK AND IT CUT OFF ON VERY BUSY 6 LANE HIGHWAY. IT WAS VERY SCARY AS NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. I TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. I WAS SO RELIEVED THAT NO ONE WAS ON THIS BUSY ROAD WHICH IS ALWAYS TRAFFIC GOING VERY FAST. I HAVE A SERVICE ALL INTO FORD FOR FRIDAY 2/28/2014. *TR

DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ENGINE STALLS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE. ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARS NEAR FUEL GAUGE. ROUGH IDLING BELOW 1000 RPM. TURN CAR OFF AND WAIT ONE MINUTE. RESTART CAR AND DRIVE WITHOUT INCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT CAME ON, POWER STEERING DISABLED AND TRACTION CONTROL DISABLED. MAKING TURN ONTO SIDE STREET INCIDENT OCCURRED. NO ACCIDENT INVOLVED. FIRST TIME A SIMPLE TURN OF THE KEY FIXED THE PROBLEM NOW IT IS COMPLETELY DISABLED. TOOK TO DEALER THEY CONFIRMED IT AS THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY ON THE ADVANCE TRACK SYSTEM. PART COST FROM FORD $900. OUTRAGEOUS FOR A WELL MAINTAINED 2012 WITH 40,000 MILES. PLEASE RESEARCH DEALER SAID THEY HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS... THANK YOU *TR
NOTICED A NOISE IN RIGHT FRONT QUADRANT WHILE SLOWLY DRIVING THROUGH LOCAL PARKING LOT. NOISE APPEARED HAVE A "ROTATING' COMPONENT. SUSPECTED A CV JOINT FAILURE. DEALER DETERMINED A FAILURE IN LOWER BALL JOINT. DESIGN REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY. RECOMMENDED REPLACING BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS. COST TO ME IS $750.00. DEALER REP'S STATED THAT FAILURE IS THE RESULT OF ABSENCE OF GREASE FITTINGS IN SUSPENSION ASSEMBLIES. OEM REPLACEMENTS MAY NOT HAVE GREASE FITTINGS EITHER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,743.
I WAS DRIVING AT MEDIUM SPEED ON A SUBURBAN STREET AND AN ALERT POPPED UP ON THE DASH: POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. POWER STEERING THEN SHUT OFF. FORTUNATELY, THE STREET WAS STRAIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO DECELERATE AND WRESTLE THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE I WAS TURNING, OR WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY (AND WOULD NEED TO NAVIGATE SEVERAL LANES TO STOP) I WOULD ALSO LIKELY HAVE CRASHED. CAR IS 24 MONTHS OLD WITH JUST OVER 40,000 MILES. (NOT FAR OUT OF WARRANTY.) CAR HAD NO PRIOR MECHANICAL TROUBLE WHATSOEVER, AND HAD BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED BY THE DEALER. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON, IT BEHAVED NORMALLY. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE THE NEXT MORNING. FORD RECOMMENDED REPLACING RACK AND PINION, $1800 REPAIR. I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE COVERED THIS, AS IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THERE WAS NO SAFETY PROBLEM UNTIL THE COMPUTER DECIDED TO SHUT OFF THE POWER STEERING! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR REPAIRS OR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. I COASTED INTO THE INTERSECTION AND STOPPED. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT SO I WAS NOT IN DANGER, BUT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND IT IS CONCERNING THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT MADE AN EFFORT TO REPAIR. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY. I AM CONCERNED THAT FORD HAS MANY VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS DEFECT AND ARE NOT MAKING AN EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *JB
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, MY 2012 FORD FUSION WOULD OCCASIONALLY HAVE A POWER STEERING FAILURE. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WOULD SOLVE THIS. HOWEVER, TODAY, THE POWER STEERING FAILURE IS NOT GOING AWAY. MY HUD READS "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" I WILL BE TAKING IT TO GET SERVICED AT MY FIRST OPPORTUNITY. SEARCHING THE INTERNET IMPLIES THAT THIS IS A NEARLY UBIQUITOUS PROBLEM. *JS
MY SON GOT INTO THE CAR, GOING TO THE STORE, HE SAID SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I SAID WHAT, HE SAID WHEN I CRANKED IT UP, SOUND LIKE I HEARD IT CLICKING. HE CHECK THE OIL, IT WAS A HALF OF A HALF QUART LOW. HE LEFT IN 2 SECONDS HE CALLED BACK, SAID SOMETHING IS WRONG, SO HIS DADDY WENT WHERE HE WAS, IT WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT LOST SPEED, IT WOULD ONLY GO 2 OR 3 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER GETTING IT BACK HOME, IT SAT A LITTLE WHILE AND IT WAS GOOD TO GO. LABOR DAY I WAS ON INTERSTATE 85 IT DONE THE SAME THING TO ME, BUT I HAD TO CALL A WRECKER I WAS TO FAR AWAY FROM HOME. NOW EVERYONE WANT ME TO PAY FOR THE TESTING OF THE CAR TO DETERMAN WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. FORD NEED`S TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS TOO MANY COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ THEM. !!!! MY 2012 FORD FUSION SEL/3.0L V6 WAS BEING DRIVEN ON BUSY HIGHWAY AT 55+ MPH. POWER STEERING FAULT/SERVICE AUTOTRAC WARNING CAME ON SUDDENLY. POWER STEERING FAILED; DRIVER HAD VERY DIFFICULT TIME CONTROLLING CAR ON HIGHWAY. STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR REMAINDER OF DRIVE. AFTER IT WAS SHUT OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, FAULT CLEARED, WARNING LIGHT WAS GONE, AND STEERING WAS FINE. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES WITH NO ISSUES. NEXT TIME CAR WAS TURNED ON AND PUT INTO GEAR, FAULT CAME BACK. SHUT OFF, TURNED BACK ON, IT CLEARED AGAIN. $1600+ QUOTED TO FIX ISSUE WITH STEERING GEAR. CAR HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH ON THE INTERSTATE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. STARTED STALLING, ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TURN OFF THE MOTOR. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE DRIVING. WE DROVE THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL TWO WEEKS LATER WHEN THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME AT ABOUT 35 MPH. AGAIN, AFTER WAITING 10-15 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THIS IS A GREAT INCONVENIENCE SINCE WE LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE A CAR IS A NECESSITY BUT IT IS ALSO A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED WHEN ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC, ON A BUSY MULTILANE, HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY. FROM READING THIS SITE, WE HAVE BECOME AWARE THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR AND WE QUESTION WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL OR, AT VERY LEAST, A CONSUMER ALERT. *TR
TWICE IN ONE WEEK THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THE POWER STEERING FAILURE, SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING WAS DIFFICULT. FORD DEALER IS POSSIBLY GOING TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY, THEY ARE WAITING ON AN OK EMAIL SINCE THE CODE THAT THEY FOUND IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE THEY ARE "FAMILIAR" WITH. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED WAS WITH MY SON WHO HAS A LEARNERS PERMIT. VERY SCARY FOR A FIRST TIME DRIVER IN A NOT EVEN 2 YR OLD VEHICLE! *TT
PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY GOT APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF MILE FROM HOME AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN NO GAS, NO POWER AND LOOKING AT THE DASHBOARD THE ONLY INDICATOR THAT WAS LIT WAS THE WRENCH. I DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAITED A FEW MINUTES TO TRY AND START THE CAR, LUCKILY IT DID AND DROVE IT BACK HOME. CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED, AND THEY SAID MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY SUGGESTED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BECAUSE IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. AS OF THIS MORNING, IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WILL ONLY COST ME A $100.00 DEDUCTABLE BECAUSE (LUCKY ME) I AM PAYING FOR EXTENDED WARRANTLY... CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MUCH IF I DIDN'T!!! I ASKED IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SHE HAS SEEN THIS HAPPEN. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I DRIVE ALMOST 90 MILES A DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK ROUNDTRIP ON A MAJOR BELTWAY AND I FEEL THIS PROBLEM IS BIGGER THAN FORD WANTS TO ADMIT. *TT
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STARTING SPUTTERING; THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TOOL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR BEGAN DECELERATING AND I HAD TO COAST TO MEDIAN. I SAT FOR AWHILE AND CRANKED UP TO COAST TO SAFE SIDE OF ROAD. REPAIRMAN SAID IT APPEARED TO BE SOMETHING IN THE ACCELERATOR SYSTEM/THROTTLE SYSTEM. THOUGHT IT NEEDED A NEW PART BUT ENDED UP CLEANING THE THROTTLE AND OTHER PARTS. IT DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS UNTIL SATURDAY AND IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A STORE PARKING LOT AFTER GETTING OFF INTERSTATE SAFELY. NOW THE REPAIRMAN HAS IT AND SAYS IT IS CHECKING OUT OKAY; DRIVING FINE WITH NO CUT OFF ISSUES. THIS CAR SCARES ME AND DON'T WANT TO DRIVE ANYMORE.. *TR
I STARTED MY CAR AS NORMAL AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. AFTER I HAD STARTED DRIVING MY VEHICLE HAD BEGAN TO SHAKE & THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT WORK. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITING A FEW MOMENTS AND TURNED BACK ON AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME I STARTED THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE WRENCH WERE LIT ON THE DASH. THE THIRD TIME I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE IT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITH WHAT FELT LIKE LIMITED POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE CODE PULLED FROM THE CARS COMPUTER READY P2111. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED. I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE "THROTTLE BODY" & HAVE ALL OF MY "FUEL INJECTORS" CLEANED. WHEN I ASKED FORD WHAT THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WAS THEY SAID, "ITS BECAUSE OF THE PLACES YOU PUMP GAS LIKE WALMART BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS CHANGING WHO THEY PURCHASE FUEL FROM AND ITS NOT A GOOD QUALITY." (SERIOUSLY) THEY RECOMMEND GETTING GAS FROM RACETRAC OR QT INSTEAD OF WALMART. THE REPAIRS ARE TO COST $830 PARTS/LABOR. AFTER ALOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER I HAVE SEEN THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES & ALOT OF THEM ARE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED (FREEWAY DRIVING). THIS SITUATION NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED ASAP BEFORE ITS TAKES A INNOCENT LIFE. FORD NEEDS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE STEERING HAS PLAY AND IS STARTING TO LOCK. THERE IS THUD NOISE AS I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL RIGHT TO LEFT AND LEFT TO RIGHT. *TR
AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN AND DRIVING ON A DRY ROAD AT 35MPH, I HEARD A SIGNAL AND AN IMAGE OF A CAR & TRACKS APPEARED ON UPPER LEFT CORNER OF DASHBOARD ALONG WITH WORDS POWER STEERING, ETC. I DID NOT SEE THE COMPLETE MESSAGE SINCE I HAD TO CONCENTRATE ON TRYING TO STEER INTO A PARKING SPACE. I AM AN 84 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND IT WAS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT A PROBLEM. THEY WILL CHECK IT OUT TOMORROW. DEFINITELY POWER STEERING FAILURE. *TR
DRIVING AT APPROX. 62 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN WARNING LIGHT FOR "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM AND POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE, LUCKY I DID NOT HIT ANOTHER CAR AS WAS CHANGING LANES WITH CONCRETE BARRIER TO MY LEFT AND FAST MOVING VEHICLES TO MY RIGHT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS CAR AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE. FORD HAS CAR TODAY AND SAYS STEERING GEAR BAD , LUCKY I BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY. FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE THESE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE TOTALLY SAFETY RELATED. THIS VEHICLES HAS ONLY 41,000 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND ONCE RESTARTED, IT OPERATED NORMALLY FOR A FEW MILES UNTIL THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,350.
WAITING TO TURN LEFT, AS I STARTED TO GO ABOUT MID-TURN THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING? THERE WAS LIKE A RUBBING NOISE AS THIS HAPPENED ( VERY LOUD) THE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT SERVICING THE ADVANCE TRAC. I SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR NOW. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED WHEN DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. DRIVER GOT THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED. POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES AN HOUR POWER STEERING QUIT AGAIN. WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON DISPLAY "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". RESTARTED VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING RESTORED. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. DROVE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED.POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WIFE WAS DRIVING THE FIRST TIME AND SHE DIDN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO STEER THE VEHICLE VERY WELL. IF IT HAD OCCURRED ON THE FREEWAY, COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. HOPE FORD DEALS WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR

AS TIME PROGRESSED THE VEHICLE PERFORMED IN A MANNER REMINISCENT OF HAVING A FLAT TIRE AND THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE TO CHECK THE TIRES BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE10 WESTBOUND AT 65-70MPH AND MY CAR SLOWLY DESCENDED SPEED AS I ACCELERATED! CARS BEHIND ME BECAME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO MY BUMPER! I THEN TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THANK GOD I WAS NOT HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER! THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MARCH OF 2013, SAID IT WAS DUE TO A BAD 'THROTTLE BODY UNIT.' I ASKED HOW LONG WAS IT BAD BC I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 5 MONTHS AGO! THE REP SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW BUT NOW THE THROTTLE BODY IS OUT! I HAD TO PAY THE DAILY 'TAXES' ON THE RENTAL CAR THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS FAIR BC IT WAS THEIR FAULT THAT PART WENT BAD AND IT WAS COVERED UNDER MY CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY! I HAD A $100 DEDUCTIBLE WARRANTY/POLICY. *TR

THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES THEN ONE MORNING I GOT INTO THE CAR AND THE BLOWER WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL. I SMELLED A BURNT SMELL AS WELL, I TOOK INTO FORD AND THEY STATED THAT THEY MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE BLOWER MOTOR HAD BURNT UP, AND JUST SO HAPPENS THAT IT WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY BY 2K MILES. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED A LOT OF MONEY TO REPLACE THIS PART IT TOOK US ABOUT 12 MINS TO REPLACE. *TR

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN THE POWER STEERING QUIT AND A WARNING DASH LIGHT TURNED ON. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING. SHE DROVE THE CAR TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND CALLED ME. I TOLD HER TO COME HOME AND HAVE HER BOY FRIEND DRIVE THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED THE FAILURE CLEARED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE CAR DROVE FINE. AFTER THE DEALER INSPECTION, I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW RACK AND PINION AT A COST OF $2400. ON 8/2/2013 I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND WAS UNABLE TO. MY CAR CREPT ALONG AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION TO PULL OVER AT THE SIDE OF THE STREET WHERE MY CAR THEN SHUT OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO START IT AGAIN TO NO AVAIL. I CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHO TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO THEN INFORMED ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. ON 8/11/2013, I AGAIN WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. AS I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, MY DASH DINGED TO INFORM ME THAT I HAD POWER STEERING FAILURE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE THE 4 BLOCKS TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO HAS INFORMED ME THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR AND I WILL NOW BE WITH OUT MY VEHICLE FOR A WEEK. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AS I'VE HAD MY 2012 FUSION FOR 1 YEAR IN MARCH 2013 WHICH IS CURRENTLY AT 10K MILES AND NOW 2 MAJOR PARTS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED WITHIN A WEEK OF EACH OTHER. *TR

FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY AT SPEED IN PASSING LANE THEN IT STARTED SHAKING WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON DASH. STOP SCROLLED IN THE INFO PANEL., AND DIED. I HAD TO PULL THRU TRAFFIC FROM RIGHT LANE TO LEFT LANE THEN TO THE SHOULDER WITH A VEHICLE NOT UNDER POWER. VERY SCARY MOMENT. TOOK CAR HOME, SAME SEQUENCE OF EVENTS HAPPED AGAIN, THIS TIME IN A INTERSECTION AND ANOTHER IN A COUNTY ROAD AT 45MPH. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. NO CODES!. I TOLD THEM KEEP THE CAR AND DRIVE IT YOURSELF TILL IT HAPPENS WITH YOU, IT DID OF COURSE. WAS TOLD DID NOT STORE A CODE BUT THOUGHT TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY.
UPON EXIT OFF OF EXPRESSWAY, CAR GAVE MESSAGE "POWER ASSIST FAULT 1" BLINKING. LOST POWER STEERING, ALSO ADVANCE TRAC NOTICE STARTED BLINKING WITH PICTURE OF SKIDDING CAR. TOTAL STEERING LOSS OCCURRED IN STOPPED TRAFFIC AS TRIED TO TURN CORNER. MANUAL DIFFICULT STEERING RETURNED IF CAR WAS MOVING. PARKED CAR AND VISITED FRIENDS. AFTER 2 HOURS RETURNED TO CAR AND AFTER STARTING EVERYTHING WORKED. NO MORE MESSAGES. CAR WAS SERVICED ON JULY 3RD FOR 10,000 MILE CHECKUP BY KINDLE FORD PREVIOUS TO INCIDENT. WHEN CALLED KINDLE FORD ON 7/29 DAY OF INCIDENT, SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING AS CAR WAS WORKING AND MESSAGE GONE. NEED TO WAIT UNTIL HAPPENS AGAIN. LAST WEDNESDAY, 7/24/13, I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE COMING HOME FROM WORK IN THE FAR LEFT HAND LANE WHEN MY ENGINE SHUT OFF AND PUT ME IN A REALLY BAD SITUATION. I HAD TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC, WHILE NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE, TO GET TO GET BACK TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR SEEMED TO BEING WORKING FINE, BUT WHEN I HIT THE GAS THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE LIGHTS, GAUGES, AND RADIO STILL WORKED AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED TWICE AND BARELY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. TODAY, 7/30/13, ON MY WAY TO WORK THE SAME THING HAPPENED. LAST TIME IT WORKED TO RESET THE POWER STEERING, BUT THIS TIME AFTER ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON 5 TIMES THE POWER STEERING IS STILL OUT. THEN I WAS UNABLE TO TURN EASILY ONTO THE NEXT FEW STREETS. WE TRIED ALL DIFFERENT THINGS TO FIX PROBLEM. HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK BUT COULD NOT ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. LUCKILY FOR ME THE PROBLEM WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. SEEMS TO BE DRIVING FINE NOW BUT I AM LUCKY THIS WAS AT LOW SPEEDS AND DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I HAD BOTH MY YOUNG CHILDREN AND HUSBAND IN THE CAR. ON MY WAY TO WORK IN THE MORNING ON A BACK COUNTRY ROAD, I WENT AROUND A 90 DEGREE TURN, BRAKING BEFORE GOING INTO THE TURN. READ NEWSPAPER ACCOUNTS OF NHTSA INVESTIGATION OF ESCAPES AND FUSION STALLING ISSUES, BUT DEALER AFTER SECOND OCCURRENCE SAID THEY HAD NO INFORMATION ON ANY INVESTIGATION. I AM VERY RELUCTANT TO DRIVE CAR AFTER MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND AFTER READING OF POSSIBLE INVESTIGATION PENDING. *TR

HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY $1,300.00 FOR A NEW POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION. I ARGUED THE CAR WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND REFUSED TO PAY. THE FSE CALLED AND FORD MOTOR PAID A PORTION OF THE BILL. THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR BUT I NEEDED TO GET MY CAR BACK SO I SETTLED WITH THEM. *TR

FINALLY THIS WEEK A HARD CODE APPEARED WHICH SHOWED IT WAS THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR. THE MECHANIC WORKING ON THE CAR TRIED TO GET ONE FROM THE FORD DEALER BUT WAS TOLD THEY WERE ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER AND WOULDN'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL AUGUST 7, 2013. *TR

TURNED CAR OFF AND IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER WHERE THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY TO THE TUNE OF $1800.00 ON BASICALLY A 1 YEAR OLD CAR! SENT A COMPLAINT TO FORD WHERE THEY BLEW ME OFF AND DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. THIS IS HAZARDOUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT 25 TO 30 MPH ON URBAN STREET, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST STOPPED FUNCTIONING AS I ENTERED A RIGHT HAND CURVE, APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AFTER A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN OPERATION FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES IN STOP AND GO CITY TRAFFIC. TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75 DEGREES, CLEAR AND SUNNY. THE "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" WARNING MESSAGE CAME UP, ALONG WITH AN INDICATOR ON THE INST. CLUSTER. VERY HAZARDOUS AND COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL. ENGINE RESTART CLEARED THE ERROR MESSAGE AND VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL FUNCTION. *TR
