WINDSHIELD WIPERS CHATTER ACROSS WINDOW WHEN IT'S RAINING. THE CHATTER GETS SO BAD THAT THEY SKIP ACROSS THE WINDOW NOT CLEARING THE WINDOW COMPLETELY HITTING THE POST ON THE LEFT SIDE. THEN WHEN THEY ARE IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION THEY WILL STOP AND MAKE A LOUD SCRAPPING SOUND. THEY HAVE CHATTERED SO BAD THAT THEY HAVE ACTUALLY STOPED FUNCTIONING IN THE RAIN LEAVING NO VISIBILITY FOR DRIVING. THIS WAS ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES. 1 TIME AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR, APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES, AND WE WERE TOLD THE WIPERS WERE JUST DIRTY. BETWEEN THIS VISIT AND THE NEXT 3 WE HAD TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENT WIPERS AT 6,000 MILES AS THE WIPERS WERE NOT PROPERLY CLEARING THE WINDOW, BUT THEY WERE ALSO CAUSING CHATTER. . HOWEVER, THE OLD WIPERS APPEARED BRAND NEW. DURING THE NEXT 3 VISITS TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN EUREKA CA WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG, BUT THEY APPLIED RAINEX OR A SIMILAR PRODUCT. THE WINDOW WAS "CLEANED". LASTLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPLACED. THEY ALSO APPEARED BRAND NEW. UPON TALKING TO THE SERVICE REP WE WERE TOLD THAT THE WIPERS ON OUR FORD FUSION WERE NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED FOR OUR FORD FUSION AND THEY WERE FACTORY WIPERS. HE ALSO STATED THAT SEVERAL OF THE SERVICE TECHS HAVE FUSIONS AND THEY HAVE HAD SIMILAR SITUATIONS. WE HAVE HAD THIS SET OF WIPERS ON FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND ALREADY RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS. I SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE IT. HOWEVER, I CAN'T JEOPARDIZE THE LIVES OF MY GRANDCHILDREN, OTHERS AND MYSELF. PLEASE HELP MISS MIMI
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. UPON (TRYING) TO LEAVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. ALL OTHER SYSTEMS WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THERE WERE 3 OR 4 WARNINGS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE DASHBOARD HOWEVER, THESE DID NOT REGISTER IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE RESET OPTIONS PROVIDED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL WERE NOT EFFECTIVE IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE DID NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. EVENTUALLY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN ACTUATOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS, ON A CAR WITH JUST OVER 2100 MILES ON IT.....
CAR WAS PARKED FOR 9 DAYS IN AN ENCLOSED STRUCTURE AT AN AIRPORT. UPON RETURN, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. GOT A "JUMP" TO GET ENGINE STARTED. RAN CAR FOR 15 MINUTES TO CHARGE BATTERY. TOOK CAR TO A FORD DEALER. THEY SAID THEY "FLASHED" SOME COMPUTER, AND THEY THINK THEY FIXED IT.
THIS IS NOT CONFINED TO FUSIONS, IT'S MOST NEW FORD CARS AND TRUCKS. THEIR HEADLIGHTS (LED?) ARE BLINDINGLY BRIGHT TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE FUSION IN PARTICULAR CASTS VERY BRIGHT OUT TO THE LEFT SIDE AS TO BE DISTRACTING TO VEHICLES IN THE LANE TO THEIR LEFT TRAVELING IN THE SAME DIRECTION. I'VE OBSERVED THIS MOSTLY ON 2-LANE ROADS.
THERE IS A WELL-DOCUMENTED ISSUE ABOUT DEAD BATTERIES IN THIS VEHICLE, LIKELY CAUSED BY A FAULTY ACM (AUDIO CONTROL MODULE). THE DRIVERSIDE/PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS GO UP AND THEN COMES RIGHT BACK DOWN AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN YOU TRY TO MAKE THE WINDOWS STAY UP THEY COME BACK DOWN. I TRIED TO DO IT WHEN THE CAR WAS MOVING AND STATIONERY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT MODEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
SICKENING FUMES/ODORS ENTERING MAIN CABIN OF THE CAR, UNLESS THE AIR IS ON RECIRCULATE. FUMES CAUSING HEADACHE, SORE THROAT, RESPIRATORY AND EYE IRRITATION. THE FUMES ARE PRODUCED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND ENTER THE CAR WHEN IT IS RUNNING AND THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN OR THE AIR CONDITIONER OR HEATER PULL IN OUTSIDE AIR.
FORD EGINEERS ARE WORKING ON A WINDOW PROBLEM . WHEN THE WINDOWS TRIES TO CLOSE ,AS IT HIT THE TOP, IT IMMEDIATELY GOES BACK DOWN. BEEN TO SHOP 2 TIMES WITH THE DRIVERS WINDOW AND THE LATEST WAS WITH BOTH FRONT WINDOWS. TEMPORARY SOLUTION IS TOO EASE IT UP A LITTLE AT A BIT AT A TIME
WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT, BETWEEN 5-10 MPH WHEN THE CAR CLICKED LOUDLY. I LOST STEERING AND BRAKES, AND CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. THE ENGINE HAD TURNED OFF, THE CAR HAD PUT ITSELF INTO PARK, AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BACK AS IF I HAD OPENED THE DOOR WITH THE CAR SHUT OFF.
I WAS IN A MULTI CAR COLLISION WITH SERIOUS FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THE FLOOR AIRBAGS ACTIVATED BUT THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION APPROACHING A FREEWAY ENTRANCE. MY CHEST AND FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING ME PAIN, BRUISES AND CONTUSIONS. POLICE OFFICER ADVISED ME TO REPORT THE AIR BAG FAILURE.
EVERY TIME WE DRIVE IN OUR 2017 FUSION, WE BECOME SICK - DISORIENTED, HEADACHES, COUGHING, NAUSEA, DIFFICULTY THINKING. THERE IS A TERRIBLE ODOR/EXHAUST ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN WHEN WE DRIVE. YOU CAN EVEN SMELL IT OUTSIDE OF THE THE CAR AFTER IT HAS BEEN PARKED. I'VE BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM MORE THAN ONCE. THE FIRST TIME, THEY HOSED DOWN THE ENGINE. THE SECOND TIME THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE IT, HOWEVER, IT IS NOTICEABLE EVERY TIME THIS CAR IS DRIVEN - COLD AND WARM WEATHER... THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME THE CAR IS ON, DRIVING, IDLING, STREET, HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION THAT I HAVE NOTICED.
DEAD BATTERY ISSUE. BRAND NEW CAR SITTING FOR 6 DAYS HAS BATTERY GO BELOW "MINIMUM START" AND WHEN START BUTTON IS PRESSED, ENTIRE CAR GOES DEAD. ISSUE IS NOT ISOLATED TO ONLY MY CAR. MANY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT'S "NOT A PROBLEM". THE FORD FUSION SPORT FORUM HAS TONS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING (HTTP://WWW.FUSIONSPORTFORUMS.COM/FORUM/257-FUSION-V6-SPORT-AUDIO-ELECTRONICS-LIGHTING/3770-DEAD-BATTERY.HTML). WHEN I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO "RECALLS NOR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS" ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM AND TO LODGE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. THIS ISSUE IS SAFETY RELATED BECAUSE OWNERS CAN BE STRANDED AWAY FROM HOME; AND THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS CONTINUOUSLY. PROBLEM OCCURRENCE: THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, SHUT OFF, AND NOT USED FOR 3 OR MORE DAYS. SUSPECTED ISSUE: AS AN IT PROFESSIONAL, I SURMISE THE PROBLEM'S ORIGIN IS BASED ON THE CAR HAVING A MODEM THAT NEEDS TO "PING" AND COMMUNICATE WITH THE FORDPASS APP ON A CONTINUAL BASIS (THEIR SELLING POINT IS THAT THE CAR CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IF IT'S STOLEN). AND JUST LIKE A CELL PHONE, IF THE CAR IS PARKED IN AN AREA WITH ONLY ONE BAR OF CELL SERVICE, THE UNIT MUST USE MORE AND MORE POWER TO PING THE CELL TOWER, THUSLY DRAINING THE CAR'S BATTERY AT EXORBITANTLY HIGH RATES. COUPLE THIS WITH THE FACT THAT THE CAR'S BATTERY IS NOT A DEEP CYCLE HIGH CCA MODEL, AND YOUR LEFT WITH UNCERTAINTY THAT YOUR CAR WILL START THE NEXT MORNING. *TR
ISSUE 1: FMVSS CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. INTERMITTENT TOTAL FAILURE OF CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, INCLUDING FAILURE OF DEFOGGER CAUSING OBSTRUCTED VISIBILITY IN COLD CLIMATES (VEHICLE IS BASED IN METROPOLITAN DETROIT). THE FAILURE IS BOTH ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL. NEITHER THE TOUCH SCREEN NOR THE PHYSICAL CONSOLE BUTTONS RESPOND TO COMMANDS. AFTER SECOND INTERMITTENT FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN AN ATTACHED HOME GARAGE. AFTER IGNITION, DEFOGGER FUNCTIONED, BUT NO OTHER CLIMATE FUNCTIONS WORKED. DEFOGGER EMITTED A BURNING SMELL AKIN TO A CAMPFIRE. FORCED TO DRIVE WITH SUCH CONDITIONS TO WORK TO MAINTAIN VISIBILITY. ISSUE 2: POSSIBLE FMVSS SAFETY ISSUE. INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF THE AUDIO SYSTEM, INCLUDING SNYC COMMANDS. TOUCHSCREEN (BOTH ON THE HOME SCREEN AND ON THE TOOLBAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN) AND PHYSICAL BUTTONS DO NOT RESPOND WHEN AUDIO BUTTONS ARE PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, SYNC DOES NOT RESPOND. ALTHOUGH BLUETOOTH IS ACTIVE, OCCUPANTS CANNOT HEAR THE DIALED PARTY, AND THE DIALED PARTY CANNOT HEAR THE OCCUPANTS. SINCE SYNC IS TIED INTO 911 SYSTEM FOR CRASHES, THIS WILL PREVENT OCCUPANTS FROM ENGAGING WITH 911 OPERATORS HANDS-FREE IN AN ACCIDENT. IF OCCUPANTS CANNOT REACH/MANIPULATE PHONE IN A CRASH, THEY MAY BE UNABLE TO CALL FOR HELP. ISSUE 3: INTERMITTENT REAR CAMERA FAILURE. AFTER RAINFALL AND FROST EVENTS, THE REAR CAMERA DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN REVERSE GEAR. THE SCREEN IS BLACK, EXCEPT FOR AN OUTLINE OF THE VEHICLE. THE RADAR SENSORS REMAIN ACTIVE AND BEEPS IF THE VEHICLE IS CLOSE TO BACKING INTO AN OBJECT. AFTER A PERIOD OF DRYNESS, THE CAMERA RE-ENGAGES. I ASSUME THERE IS A MOISTURE INTRUSION PROBLEM, BUT AM UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ENTRY POINT. ONLINE SEARCHES SUGGEST THAT MOISTURE MAY BE INTRUDING THROUGH THE FACTORY-INSTALLED, ROOF-MOUNTED ANTENNA.
I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOR MY SISTER (SHE DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER) WHO HAS FOUND HER FORD FUSION WITH A DEAD BATTERY SEVEN TIMES, STARTING THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. ON FOUR OCCASIONS IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, THREE OTHER TIMES JUMP-STARTED BY HER NEIGHBOR SO SHE COULD GET TO DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS. DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS, SHE CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THESE APPOINTMENTS. APPARENTLY, THIS DEAD-BATTERY ISSUE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE FUSIONS. IN JANUARY 2018 FORD ADMITTED THERE IS A BATTERY DRAINING PROBLEM AND INSTRUCTED HER TO HAVE THE PCM REPROGRAMMED (ATTACHMENT 2). IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE DRAINING. IN HER CASE THE BATTERY WAS FOUND DEAD AFTER SITTING STATIONARY IN EACH INSTANCE. THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE NEXT TIME, SHE WILL FILE A LEMON LAW CASE. FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL ALL OF THE FUSIONS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, WHICH SUBSTANTIALLY AFFECTS SAFETY, USE AND MARKET VALUE OF THE CAR.
STEERING TURNS EXCESSIVELY WITH TURN WHILE DRIVING, AND THEN STICKS. FORD STATES "ITS WORKING AS IT SHOULD". REPEATEDLY TAKES ME INTO ADJACENT LANE UPON LANE CHANGE, AND ALMOST OFF ROAD, WHEN GETTING OFF EXITS. WIPERS AND WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID SYSTEM: 98% OF THE TIME, DOES NOT CLEAN THE TOP 1/3 OF DRIVERS VIEW OF WINDSHIELD. VISABILITY IS BETTER WHEN NOT USING OR MINIMIZING WIPER USE, IN RAIN, SNOW. SUSPENSION: DEATH RATTLE. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY EXCESSIVELY VIBRATES SO SEVERELY, AT ANY SPEED. WITH UNEVEN ROADS, AND HOLES, VEHICLES EXCESSIVELY RATTLES AND JUMPS SIDEWAYS IN LANE. THREE SIDEWALL FLAT TIRES IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR, THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.
WIPER SPRAY NOZZLES DO NOT SPRAY ON THE WINDSHIELD VERY WELL MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CLEAR A DIRTY WINDSHIELD. THE WIPER ARMS BLOCK THE LEFT AND RIGHT SPRAYERS AND ONLY GET A SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUID ON THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER THE WIPERS LEAVE THE HOME POSITION AND STAY SLIGHTLY ELEVATED ON THE WINDSHIELD THE CENTER SPRAYER CAN NO LONGER SPRAY PAST IT TO COVER THE WINDSHIELD EITHER.

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.
THIS CAR DIDN'T STOP WITH IN 40FT WHEN THE SPEED IS 25 MPH AND HAPPENED TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER CAR WHICH CHANGED LANES ABRUPTLY.
MY CAR, WITH 2K MILES, WOULD NOT START (PUSH BUTTON START, THIS IS THE PLUG-IN HYBRID "ENERGI" MODEL). AFTER BEING TOWED TO A DEALER, THEY HAD TO TEAR THE CAR APART TO FIND A BAD WIRING HARNESS AS PART OF THE HYBRID SYSTEM. THIS PART WAS UNAVAILABLE, AND I AM HAVING TO WAIT OVER 5 DAYS TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND INSTEAD TRIED TO GET ME TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM FORD. THIS IS A SAFETY FIX, AND THE CAR ITSELF JUST WOULDN'T RUN. TO NOT TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER OR HAVE THE ABILITY TO QUICKLY GET A PART IS UNACCEPTABLE. WIRING HARNESSES SHOULD NOT FAIL IN 5 WEEKS AND 2K MILES. THE CAR DROVE ONE MILE, THEN WOULD NOT RESTART. IT ONLY COMPLAINED TO "GET OFF THE ROAD SOON". A FAILURE OF WHAT SHOULD BE A VERY BASIC PART AT 2K MILES IS CONCERNING, NOT TO MENTION THE INABILITY OF FORD TO REPAIR IT IN QUICK FASHION. THIS DOES MAKE ME WONDER IF THE PROBLEM IS MORE WIDESPREAD AND SO PARTS ARE HARD TO COME BY.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLAMPS OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 05/10/17*LJ *CN
TAKATA RECALL: RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL IN JULY 2016. IT IS NOW 11/22/2016 AND I HAVE STILL NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY FORD INDICATING PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND THAT REPAIR CAN BE SCHEDULED. I CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD DEALER LATE AUGUST AND THEY HAD NO INFORMATION ON THIS RECALL.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL LETTER IN JULY OF 2016, AND SINCE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING TO FOLLOW UP WITH IT. MY COVER ON THE DASH BOARD OVER THE AIRBAG IS WARPED AND BOWED UP AND I AM AFRAID THAT THIS MAY ALSO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS ISSUE. IF THIS IS POSSIBLY ANOTHER PART OF SOMETHING WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY NOW. THANK GOD NOTHING HAS HAPPENED, BUT I WOULD TRULY LIKE TO GET THIS RESOLVED BEFORE IT IS TO LATE AND SOMEONE GETS HURT . PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT, IF ANYTHING, IS MOVING TOWARD RESOLVING THIS RECALL IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. ALSO WHAT I CAN HAVE DONE TO GET MY ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF. I WAS TOLD BY MY FORD DEALER THAT THERE SHOULD BE MORE INFO OUT IN NOV OR DEC. 2016 I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING AND HEARD NOTHING AND IT IS NOW MARCH 2017. NOW ACCIDENT TO REPORT. I NEED MY CAR. IT'S BEEN 2 YEARS. I AM DISABLED AND CAN'T GET A DIFFERENT CAR.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while parked, the ignition button and brake pedal were depressed, but the brake pedal was stiff and failed to depress as needed. The contact stated that there were unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the part would be available in the third quarter of 2023. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I am a single mother raising my 6-year-old daughter on my own. This past year has been extremely difficult, as my car has been constantly in and out of repair shops. I have spent more than $8,000 in the last year and a half on unexpected repairs, many of them involving serious safety issues. I was never informed about the recall and never received any notice.
