Coolant intrusion into cylinder number 2 is beginning occur on my 2.0l ecoboost engine. I know this because I am getting misfire codes for cylinder 2, losing coolant in the reservoir that I have to replenish, and seeing white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Ford acknowledged that this engine has a design flaw that allows for coolant to enter the cylinders over time and gave the solution of replacing the long block, as stated in Technical Service Bulletin 22-2229. With the 2.0 engine suffering from the same design flaw that the 1.5l ecoboost engine suffers from, Ford created a recall for the 1.5l engine to replace the long block, as stated in the Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12. Since this sets a precedent that this flaw needs to be recalled and replaced by a newly designed long block, it should mean that all engines that suffer from the same design flaw should be recalled and fixed. If not fixed, it is reported that over time, the coolant intrusion can cause engine failures and misfires and eventually can trigger a full-blown fire of the engine. With this information, it seems prudent that Ford extend the recall for coolant intrusion to include the 2.0l ecoboost engine and other engines that suffer from this design flaw.

My car has been under recall (NHTSA recall 23V440) without a remedy since June of last year. According to Ford if I charge my car (it is a PHEV) I risk damaging major components and/or the car catching on fire. Ford is not making any effort to repair my car in a timely manner. They will not provide a firm date for when they plan to fix this recall. I have called Ford and asked them to make this right and they have refused, saying that my state's lemon laws do not obligate them in any way to help me. I cannot sell the car because the resale value of the car has plummeted since the recall was issued. I only owned the car for 3 months before the recall happened.
Transmission went out and is the same year make and model of the customer satisfaction program 22n12. Spoke with Ford and they stated since its not the ECO model they cannot honor the recall although they have the same transmission parts.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the misfire in cylinder #3 was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle experienced shaking and vibrations while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who determined that coolant was present inside cylinder #3 and the engine long block cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 116,000.
A recall on the electrical system of my plug in hybrid does not allow me to use the electrical portion of my vehicle. The main reason I purchased this vehicle was to use all electric with the option of having a gas powered vehicle. Until this is remedied, the dealership said that I cannot charge my vehicle. This was the major selling point of this vehicle. I also cannot sell this vehicle because no dealership will purchase this vehicle with this major recall (that has been issued with no remedy since June of last year (10 months ago).
I am second owner. At just before 110,000 miles the motor expirenced shuddering, with misfires, from P0303. I was able to get it to a Ford Service Center. Diagnosis with a borescope reveled coolant into cylinders 2and 3. Almost 8,000 dollars later, a new motor. In my Opinion, the cost of the actual motor should be free, or at least less then 2,700. I do not think it's very fair for Ford to profit from their own defective design. Thanks.
Was driving car to dealership for check signal that was appearing on my dashboard when suddenly the car stopped in the middle of the road with a knocking sound from the back and smoke filled the car and the trunk. At that point I exited the car in fear of getting caught in fire or getting struck by another vehicle. Had the car towed to a Ford dealership in Watsonville California.
My situation started with pulling the car out of the garage one morning going to work. Shaking was experienced, after a couple of times with that happening, one morning heading out for work the light came on the dashboard, I immediately setup an appointment with AAA, who once started working on the car felt they had resolved the issue, however the same day I drove off the premises for AAA the light came back on, I ended up taking the car back to them four times before they stated they could not resolve the problem and suggested I take it to Ford, which I did. Once there I was informed by the advisor the car was in recall and they would provide me with a loaner until repairs were done. I drove the loaner for two weeks only to be called by the advisor and informed that my car would not qualify for repairs and he needed the loaner back right away because he was possibly in trouble. I had a conversation about why, what etc but no good news. I returned the loaner and took my car home where it has been because I don’t have $7000.00 for a new motor.
We have had to replace the shifter cable bushing 2 times in the past 2 years. This seems to be an issue with the Fusions.
Check engine light stays on says catalytic converter is bad now. I have been waiting since June of last year for recall on battery because of fire hazard. I have been using gas instead of charge. Nothing is being done to fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH the contact heard an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated this rattling sound was also heard when the vehicle was idling. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with a cracked flex plate. The contact was informed that the flex plate needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired, yet. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
There is currently an active recall with no remedy being made available as of 6/16/2023. In this recall it is stated EXCESS VOLTAGE AND CURRENT FLOW THROUGH THE BECM CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHICH INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH, OR A VEHICLE FIRE IN THE TRUNK AREA. The safety of my family, which includes a two year old who is in a car seat in the back seat has been put at risk every day due to this issue not being remedied and continuing to have a potential for vehicle fire every time we start the car. Ford has advised to not charge the vehicle, however there is a system that allows for recharge while breaking. I have pulled the following information from the Ford website..."Regenerative Braking, When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost due to friction. During braking in a Ford hybrid, however, regenerative braking recovers more than 90%* of this energy, sending it back to the battery to be stored for later use." With this feature the battery is still being engaged and putting my daughter at risk. It would be extremely time consuming to run around the vehicle to her location then unbuckle and pull her out from the car seat after having to pull over once alerted to the car being on fire, potentially while on the highway. Its unlikely that we would reach her in time to save her. Another consideration for risk would be to other drivers on the road. Creating an emergency such as vehicle fire has high probability to cause others to become distracted while driving leading to more injuries. Vehicle has been taken to the Ford dealership on multiple occasions in 2023 for battery issues. We request to see the issue completely resolved or for Ford to buy the vehicle back.
My 2019 Ford fusion while driving, the trunk opens by itself. It blocks the rear view of the vehicle. I had to pull over and close it several times while driving for this. I had to put a bungee cord around the trunk to keep it from opening. The trunk opening by itself is a safety hazard and the contents of what is in the trunk it exposed. I already spent over $210 in repairs with the dealer estimating the cost would be over $1100 including the wire harness from the body control module and including the body control module if the harness does not fix this.
Thr steering wheel stopped turning. The car is not old enough to have such problems with power steering failures.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the antifreeze was leaking and that the check engine warning light was illuminated. Additional anti-freeze was added. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that there was a misfire in cylinder #2. The spark plugs and coil pack were replaced. The contact added a reservoir to the vehicle. The contact stated that while his wife was driving, the vehicle began to sputter. Additionally, while adding fuel, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, who was unable to schedule an appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that coolant was leaking into the engine. The mechanic informed the contact that the engine was lifted and improperly installed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
My fusion wont start and i have to let it sit for hours before it will start. I thought it was battery but had that replaced and had whole car checked and the firestone could find no reason why it wasnt starting. The engine light and battery showed up when it doesnt start but sends no error codes. Today i had to tow my car because me and my family pulled over to eat and got back in the car and it didnt start. This is the first time but what made it worse was having my kids in the car stuck in a part of town. I have exhausted every resource to try to figure out this problem but there is nothing. I think the cars ecu is faulty or something because it wont start again but if i wait for hours it will maybe start back up but thats not for sure. Im afraid to take this car on the highway because i think it may die while me and my family are in it and that is a big concern of safety. My car was bought brand new and under 60000 miles. There is no reason this car should be having these kind of problems. This puts alot of strain on my family and military career not saying im more important then anyone else just saying no one should have ot go through this.Yes vehicle is available for inspection if it starts
The flywheel or flex plate cracked. Been to different mechanics, some stating I need a whole new transmission.
Rear back up camera turns on when in drive or in park and when in reverse I’ll get a blue screen that will stay on till I turn the car off
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the battery, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 33,084.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light had illuminated, and white exhaust smoke was present coming from the exhaust system. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the engine coolant level was low. The vehicle was taken to the local service center who determined that the spark plugs were corroded. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who indicated that engine coolant was present inside the engine cylinders and the engine short block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked under direct sunlight, the control panel on both sides of the steering wheel melted and cracked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and directed the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Battery went dead, replaced battery, check engine light came on, got a diagnostic check on it, come to find out my purge valve needs to be replace. Every time we get gas, the car doesnt want to start up. Trying to find the part to replace purge valve assembly line is almost near zero. The car has only 65,000 miles on it and its a 2019 forf fusion titanium ecoboost.
I was driving down the road, and a wrench symbol came on. Once i cut the car off and drive it the next day the symbol was off. I looked the symbol up online and it stated that it had to due with the powertrain. I made an appointment to the ford dealership here for diagnostic. They just called me and informed me that the vehicle has codes for misfire on start up and a coolant pump issue and that it is leaking into the engine walls. I am very displeased about this issue because I've only had the car for 2 years.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power while shifting gear and failed to exceed 40 MPH. Additionally, the contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an Auto Parts Store to be diagnosed. The contact was notified of a misfire in cylinder #2. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
I started my car one morning and heard a new noise that sounded like something was loose in my engine. I would hear this noise at idle and while starting the car. I took it to my mechanic who diagnosed a cracked flex plate.
Continually receiving "see manual" message while driving, will intermittently appear and disappear. At times, the plug-in battery will completely stop working while still charged (more frequent in colder weather). It always resets/removes the "see manual" warning upon next vehicle start. Engine shutters and pings when turning the car off and is rather intense and seems potentially damaging. When driving at low speeds and when changing speeds, engine will not shift correctly when accelerator is pressed, and then will suddenly engage and lurch forward. And when slowing down braking system is not consistent, often have to depress brake harder than normal. Hybrid battery will also stop working when "see manual" message is on. At times the check engine light will come on, code P0B24, checked by Ford Dealer (Norm Reeves, Cerritos, CA) on 12/21/23, 'Hybrid Battery A voltage unstable'. Known recall but they have no fix. Dealer says corporate office has to authorize any sort of loaner car or arrange for rental car, however website says "contact your local dealership directly" when I enter my info for the recall. Called Ford corporate on 1/15/24, their answer is "we have no fix for this" regarding both fixing the car and providing us with a working vehicle. They would not take down any of our contact information or give us any other outlet to contact.
Crack in engine. Total engine failure. Documented has history of coolant fluidleak in engine from cylinders. I had to pay $4750 toward repair cost to replace the engine and Ford paid $6500. Stated ford paid portion as good faith gesture. I should not have had to pay anything toward the cost of having the engine replaced. This defect has also caused fires.
ENGINE KEEPS HAVING MISFIRE ISSUES. TAKEN TO GARY CROSSLEY FORD IN APRIL OF 2021 AND WARRANTIED ENGINE REPLACEMENT. IN MARCH 2022 TAKEN TO THROUROUGHBRED FORD ENGINE WENT BAD AGAIN WITH ANTIFREEZE LEAKING INTO THE OIL , ENGINE REPLACED AGAIN. HERE WE ARE IN DECEMBER 2023 AND HAVING SAME ISSUES. AND THOROUGHBRED FORD IS BACKED UP UNTIL MARCH OF 2024 AND CANT FIX THE ENGINE AGAIN UNTIL THEN. SO I AM PAYING MY CAR PAYMENT AND HAVE NO CAR TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW WITH ZERO MILES AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE.
This has happened multiple times now. Always happens at high speeds (greater than 45 mph). I will be driving on a highway when I unexpectedly lose the ability to accelerate. First noticed in correlation with the collision detection feature showing on the display as NOT FUNCTIONING. That does not happen anymore, but I still lose the ability to accelerate periodically. Once I can safely remove myself from the flow of traffic and stop/restart my car the issue is resolved. Makes me believe this is electrical/computer origin. The vehicle was taken to the dealership twice where they claim “cannot duplicate” but are willing to replace any item that I will pay for out of pocket. The dealership does not want to honor my extended warranty. The vehicle was purchased new in 2019. Within one year they had to replace half my engine (which they decided to do without warning when I dropped off for an oil change). The vehicle was stolen in 2023 (recovered by me in under 24 hours). Multiple cosmetic issues were repaired by a Ford authorized service team. This issue presented about 1.5 months ago 4+ months after the vehicle was repaired.
Window tint on passenger back side window and rear window is so bad that it impairs viewing
I put car into park to use the atm and then could not get it back into gear it gave a lot of different issues system fault error oil pressure errors battery error collision error and I ended up replacing the gear shift bushing which had deteriorated and broke off and that fixed most of issues now car makes loud blaring alarm sound that is not the normal car dinging it's loud and high pitched and acts like my battery is dead but won't start or shows any signs it is being jumped. Like the battery is completely dead won't take or hold charge.
In 2023 I was experiencing engine issues. There was a check engine light that continued to come on signaling a cylinder misfire. I replaced the sparkplugs and coils however the issue persisted so I made an appointment to bring it to a Ford Dealership. The Ford dealership contacted me to advise that the issue I was experiencing is a known issue with the Ford Ecoboost motor where coolant ends up leaking into the cylinders causing a failure. This is a huge detriment to safety because I could have had a vehicle fire, or my car could have seized up on the highway while I was driving had I not gotten this to a dealership. I contacted Ford regarding the issue and their response was alarming. Since I was slightly over my warranty my vehicle was not covered for any repairs and they would not address the issue despite it being a known problem with these motors. I was stuck with a 7,000 dollar repair bill and "save your receipts and hope for the best" from Ford. Their negligence was alarming and after doing much research I have found that there still was not a recall issued and many people have experienced this issue.
Historically, the vehicle has been in shop for repairs of the BECM. BECM was replaced on 12/23/22 with 44,217 miles on the car. On 11/25/23 while driving on city streets the car completely shut down and warning light came on telling us to immediatel pull over and stop the car. During this incident we detected an odor of something burning. The car was towed home and will be towed to the dealer for diagnostics and repair.
I am writing to bring to your attention a serious matter regarding the delayed resolution of a safety recall for my plug-in hybrid vehicle, a 2019 Ford Fusion Energi, with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) [XXX] . The recall in question was issued by Ford Motor Company in June 2023. As a responsible vehicle owner, I promptly responded to the recall notice and attempted to address the safety concern with my vehicle. Unfortunately, Ford has been unable to remedy the issue in a timely manner, and this situation is causing considerable inconvenience, financial losses, and most importantly, concerns about my safety and the safety of others on the road. My plug-in hybrid vehicle, which typically boasts an electric-only range of 26 miles when fully charged, has been rendered unable to charge due to the safety recall. Given that I charge my vehicle daily, this has resulted in 154 days, or 4,004 miles, of forced reliance on the gasoline engine. This not only contradicts the purpose and efficiency of a plug-in hybrid but has also led to approximately $300 worth of wasted gasoline, calculated using the IRS mileage reimbursement rate. Furthermore, the anxiety and stress associated with driving a vehicle under recall are substantial. I am worried each time I get into my car that it may catch fire or suddenly stall while I am on the road. This not only impacts my daily life but also compromises the safety of myself, passengers, and fellow motorists. I kindly request the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's intervention to ensure a swift and effective resolution to this matter. The delay in remedying the safety recall not only undermines the purpose of owning a plug-in hybrid but also places the safety of consumers at risk. I trust that the NHTSA will investigate this matter thoroughly and take the necessary steps to ensure a timely and satisfactory resolution. 2019 Ford Fusion . Just stopped running while driving . Everything just quit working . Took to shop they replaced alternator and battery . After driving a month car did exact same thing again. I think this is more than an alternator problem.
My car in February of 202: got stuck in park they said it was electrical issue, then months later I ended up with a coolant leak that then combusted my engine. New engine in August of 2023 fast forward to November 2023 my car is doing the same thing it stalled in the road with myself and newborn in the car, lost all speed and now it will not go in drive or reverse just like it did in February of 2023. It’s been in the shop twice and now ongoing it’s third time and I find this to be a severe issue because if my car is going to keep stalling while driving there is no reason to keep fixing this car. I’m aware past fusion’s have been recalled for something of similar problems so it makes me wonder if this should be recalled as well.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that they noticed that the amount of mileage they should be able to drive was significantly lower than what was stated when manufactured. When they initially started the vehicle, it would display a rough start, and a cloud of white smoke would come from the fuel pipe from the rear. The check engine light had illuminated. The contact was informed that the failure was related to the TSB with the NHTSA Number: 10214126 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a misfire with cylinder 2. The contact with the failure could have also resulted from a failed fuel tank as a whole or damaged walls to the fuel tank. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure where it was confirmed the VIN was not included in the TSB with the NHTSA Number: 10214126 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact was referred to NHTSA to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.
2019 Ford Fusion 1.5L Ecoboost engine. Flex plate cracked at 78000 miles. Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 22N12 covers this issue for my make and model, but dealership claims it does not cover my engine as it is a 1.5 and not a 2.0. The vehicle was produced at the same time and place as all the other listed vehicles, with the same faulty flex plate, yet somehow mine is not covered.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, there was white smoke coming from the tailpipe. In addition, the engine was idling rough. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that no diagnosis would be completed due to no warning lights being illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear-view camera activated while in drive, and later failed to turn off after reversing. The contact also stated that the instrument panel and infotainment system acted erratically, turning off, not reacting to function buttons, and freezing. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the APIM. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 19,000.
Ford has still not provided a satisfactory fix for this recall. It has been 139 days since the recall was issued. Now Ford is putting a stop/hold on their initial recall fix and has instructed their dealers to return recall parts AND to put a stop sale on any vehicles in their inventory. This has resulted in a drastic depreciation of my vehicle. Not only does Ford not have a solution to the problem, but now they have left me with a car that is unsellable which is causing massive economic harm to me. Ford now says there is no interim fix (perhaps until LATE 2024) this is absurd. Ford should buy these vehicles back from all affected owners asap. Please compel Ford to do something about this and make things right!
My car Transmission started to make a Rattling Noise while leaving a store. While on the highway, far left lane going 65mph, all of a sudden the car slowed rapidly with traffic all around me traveling 65+mph. I had to get over 3 lanes to exit the highway going 25. I was almost hit several times by vehicles going 65+. This could have caused a deadly accident. Luckily I made it to the exit without a collision. The South Belleville Ford dealership inspected the car and said the flexplate was cracked. I found out from Ford that they put out a Customer Satisfaction Program repair for the same flexplate my car is equipped with, covering the cost of repair and a rental vehicle at 100% but my vehicle, even though it was manufactured during the time specified and at the assembly plant specified with the specified transmission and flexplate, it did not qualify for the program because it has a different engine than what they had on file. They offered to cover 40% of repair since my car did have the defective flexplate. This is an extreme safety hazard as it could cause a deadly accident. It's a transmission problem, the engine is irrelevant and shouldn't matter. Ford needs to recall all vehicles equipped with the defective flexplate and not wait until it cracks because when it cracks someone could die. This is not a wait-and-see issue. This is a replace the defective part immediately before someone dies. This also puts other drivers on the road at risk of sudden death if the car in front of them has the defective flexplate and it suddenly cracks while traveling at high speeds and suddenly rapidly decelerates like mine did. The program even states that is what can happen if it cracks, so they know of this extreme safety problem. Ford plants will change what they are making for a couple of months and that is how I ended up with a different engine and my VIN not being reported by the plant as having been manufactured there at that time with that same defective flexplate.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while her son was driving at 50 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle began jerking. The vehicle was taken to the same independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that coolant leaked into the cylinder and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
