There is a no sale recall on the back up camera due to freezing but we were sold the vehicle by Freeway Ford in Bloomington, MN. Due to the backup camera freezing there is inability to see directly behind the vehicle only through side mirrors and rear view mirror. The problem was confirmed by the manufacturer and the dealer via phone after selling the vehicle. The specific vehicle has not been inspected but is on a stop sale recall list. No warning or anything.
On [XXX] I bought new 2024 Ford Maverick XLT Tremor AWD Ecoboost Engine with an 8-SPD Auto Transmission. On [XXX] I experienced a safety failure on this vehicle that put my son and I in a very dangerous situation. While driving on a busy avenue, I stop on a traffic light and I had the vehicle on "Drive" with the brake pressed. When the traffic light turned green I proceeded normally switching from pressing the brake to pressing the gas pedal and it suddenly acted as if it was in "Neutro". The vehicle was on “drive” mode but acted as it was in “neutral”. It didn’t want to move forward. This created a very dangerous situation on this busy avenue. I was stop in the middle of the road. I immediately manually moved the gear to “Parking" and then back to "Drive" and at this time the vehicle started moving normally again. I reported the incident to the dealer where I bought the car (Sheehy Ford of Warrenton) and they stated to me the following: “I do not find any diagnostic trouble codes stored through connected vehicle communication and did not see any relevant technical service bulletins or special service messages published that match your symptoms. I would be happy to set up a time for a diagnostic, or if you'd prefer to wait and see if it happens again just know we're here for you either way”. I responded that I will wait to see if it does it again. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The engine has had counts of misfire in all 4 cylinders, since 1 week after I bought this brand-new pickup truck. The misfire counts are getting more and more, although there is NOT any warning codes, nor loss of power.
Upon exiting my garage I always stop to close the door. My driveway has incline. I begin to roll back, hit the breaks several times with no engagement, begin pumping the brake pedal several times, no response. Continued to roll in reverse going across the street and hit neighbor's park car in their driveway. Police Officer noted that brake pedal was very low upon applying brakes and a hiss sound of like a vacuum or pressure lost. Reported a claim to insurance company. I never observed any indication of faults. Had truck toed to Greiner Ford to be inspected and or repaired. They said they could not find anything wrong with brake system or electronics. Since the incident I have reviewed by Ring camera video of that day and noticed that the DRL lights were flashing like a turn signal light which are not supposed to do. Truck is presently at Greiner Ford Collision Center for repair of damage to drive side rearend. I will have Greiner reinspect once collision damage is repaired and advise them of the flashing DRL's Other problems encountered prior to this incident: 1. Several times with adaptative cruise on and lane departure on there has been several notifications of cancelations were noted. 2. Several times horn has sounded when opening door with truck turned off. 3. Pre collision notification without anything in front of truck. I will also note that after receipt of new vehicle, approximately 1 to 2 months the truck was updated with new software.
In reducing the truck's speed, there is a sharp-pitched, loud, one-click sound , when I turn the steering to the right hand side. (This sound seems to come from the driver's left side, between the front door and the rear door.) It happens very often, but not every time.
Water is leaking into the passenger compartment after rain storms and accumulating in the carpet of the front passenger footwell causing mold.
New 2024 Ford Maverick. 12,000 miles. At around 10K miles, a factory recall regarding the firmware driving the brake light system was performed. This has 'broken' the factory installed trailer braking system that applies braking to an attached trailer with electric brakes. This is very dangerous, since failed trailer braking can cause a severe accident. The factory system shows alerts on the dash: when a trailer is electrically connected to the truck, the system responds with "Trailer connected". And now, that same message appears, but as soon as you apply brakes, either physically or by the factory system, an alert says, "Trailer disconnected". This never happened before the recall was performed. Also, If you connect the trailer and the system says "trailer connected", if you adjust the braking 'gain' in the cab of the truck, the system says "no trailer", and yet the other alert says "trailer connected". This is a computer firmware fault. This has been recorded by other owners online.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that the rear-view camera intermittently displayed a distorted image on the infotainment screen. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V684000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. In addition, the contact stated that a dump truck tire had kicked up a rock which cracked the front windshield. The contact called an independent mechanic to repair the windshield; however, the contact was informed that the repair could not be performed until the camera was replaced. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
At certain times, the touch screen will freeze, specifically, it had frozen on the navigation, which also didn't allow the back up camera to work/be displayed. The screen also got bery hot to the touch. This was about a 90° day. This has happened on several occasions. I have seen an almost exact problem on the maverick forum here. [XXX] And was compelled to also make a report to the nhtsa. I have a scheduled service appointment this coming Monday, August 12. So we will see how that goes. There is lots of people having trouble with there dash popping I believe due to how the windshield is attached.
2024 Ford Maverick with under 3K mileage. ALL 4 tires have visible sidewall buckling on outside & inside. None failed yet but as retire police / dot inspector, I know this is sidewall failure waiting to happen after only a couple thousand miles. Heck the "full size" Atlas 215/60/r17 spare is a totally different size (1.3 inches shorter) which is unusable on front wheel drive axle due to rotational differences. Made in Mexico. Ford does not have a "better idea". Should my local Ford dealer where the truck was purchased this year not correct this, I will contact an attorney. Know any decent civil attorneys? Ford dealer stated after looking at the tires, the sidewall on Continental tires have "normal seams".
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH and making a left turn, the steering wheel became difficult to turn a causing the driver to crash into a field fence with barbed wire at a 90-degree angle, where it came to a stop. No injuries were reported, and no police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer, who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,500.
