2024 Ford Maverick Complaint Log

I am reporting a recurring safety-critical failure. On two separate occasions, the vehicle has experienced a total electrical and mechanical shutdown while in operation. During these events, the 12V power system fails completely, turning off all instrumentation and, most critically, the electronic power brake assist. This results in a 'hard pedal' condition where the vehicle is nearly impossible to stop without extreme physical force. The first instance occurred at road speeds, forcing an emergency maneuver into a turning lane to avoid traffic. The second instance occurred while reversing, causing the vehicle to lose all braking and propulsion and roll into a busy road resulting in a near-miss collision. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive as the shutdowns are intermittent and occur without warning.

I was driving and the vehicle stopped like it was in neutral. I started rolling backwards into a vehicle. He honked and I slammed on breaks. I put flashers on. Waited a bit. Turned off and on and it started. I drove home and called service dept

I was driving my vehicle that was warmed up,about 5 miles from my house. I set the cruise control on 50 mph- the vehicle climbed an incline at 50, after the decline started the vehicle down shifted trying to keep 50 mph, but was still over by 3-5 mph. The road flattened out and The next thing i noticed was i was doing 42mph and the transmission was in neutral. I shifted back to drive and didnt use cruise control again that day 3/13/26. I have not notice anything else going on with transmission and have reused cruise control again without an issue. I called the dealer and they have not heard of this or have any technical service bulletins regarding this issues. I was quoted a diagnostic charge if i bring it in. I travel on some busier road and use cruise control often

Windshield washer system failure, recurring problem. Last repaired 18 November 2025. Dealer did not replace the failed components. instead used compressed air to clear the clogged nozzles. As a federal regulated safety system, they should have quarantined the failed components for analysis by Ford engineering. NHTSA complaint number 11700184 was generated. If I can't clear the dirt from my windshield, not only is my safety compromised, but also all who I may encounter in an automobile accident. Not to mention innocent pedestrians.

CV axles failed around 42,000 miles. Purchased new tires due to one being worn. After new tires the front end was shaking on acceleration onto the highway. Vibration stopped once the vehicle got up to speed. The tires were rebalanced but that didn't help. The mechanic found the problem to be the CV axles. Once both were replaced the vibration finally stopped.

Upon acceleration, the front end vibrates heavily. light pedal depression it isn't quite as noticeable. But medium pressure to gas peddle & it feels like the whole underneath of the engine/ maybe front axle is about to fall apart. the harder the acceleration, the more intense the shaking/vibrating is.

Over the past 1-1/2 years I have experienced my transmission going into neutral and loss of power 4 times. The first time it happened I thought my hand hit the shifter and moved it into neutral. After a few more incidents and seeing the recall, I realized this was the cause of the issue. I noticed the NHTSA website has recall number 25V881000. Today I contacted Ford Motor Company regarding this recall and they do not show it against my 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid. I have experienced the problem as indicated below and have not received a recall letter on this. Was my VIN left out of this recall? Dates were between November 2024- February 2026 Incidents occurred between 40-75 mph Mileages between 4000-12000 Very scary losing power on the expressway with lots of traffic Recall date 2025-12-17 Recall no. 25V881000 Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Maverick Hybrid and 2020 Escape Hybrid vehicles. RITICAL BRAKING FAILURE & DEALER NEGLIGENCE: The vehicle exhibits a violent shudder and loss of deceleration during the hand-off between regenerative and friction braking. This defect was first reported to the dealer (Rich Ford) at 35,399 miles (RO #[XXX]) within the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty but was not repaired. THE INCIDENT: On [Insert Date], the braking system failed to decelerate the vehicle during a traffic slowdown. The pedal vibrated violently, and the vehicle did not stop. I was forced to swerve across two lanes of traffic onto the shoulder to avoid a high-speed rear-end collision. DEALER NEGLIGENCE: The vehicle was in dealer possession from Jan 12–28, 2026 (16 days). Odometer records prove they only test-drove it for 7 miles. They failed to apply known TSB 23-2209 (Hybrid Shudder) and released the vehicle to me despite active internal ABS Pump Control Codes (C052E and U0418) recorded in the vehicle logs on Jan 22, 2026. REPORTING IRREGULARITY: The dealer coded this latest safety attempt as "Routine Maintenance/Flush" rather than a safety repair, effectively hiding the defect history from the manufacturer and my warranty provider to avoid Lemon Law liability. The vehicle remains unsafe to drive. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle keeps going into "Battery Saver Mode" and having 12-volt battery not maintaining charge. When the battery gets low, the vehicle beings having various electrical system glitches and drivability issues. This is a well-known issue with Ford Maverick Hybrid trucks and Ford is not fixing the problem. Ford changed the 12 volt battery in the 2025 and 2026 Maverick Hybrids to an AGM design due to this issue.

my daughter rear-ended another driver as she was entering a turn lane. Moments prior to the accident, she described what sounds like a brake booster failure. There was no indication the AEB system activated and only the airbag at her feet deployed. She hit the car in front of her at ~35 mph. 1. Brake system failure - yes, it is currently available for inspection 2. Car failed to stop and resulted in an accident. Luckily no-one was seriously injured. 3&4 car has not be examined by anyone, yet. Trying to figure out who best to look at the vehicle. 5 unknown

My turbocharger went out 3 times with in a month the dealership is trying there best to fix it but every time they do something with that same system goes wrong. At first it was nothing to bad but lack of power and sounding rough and it was like that the second time the system went out how ever on the 3rd time I was on the highway and when it went out it disabled my crew’s control system and when I bought it back they now say it’s is an electrical concern.

This is a 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid with about 12000 miles. After leaving it in the garage for 4 days, I am not able to start the car at all. Upon checking the Ford APP, it shows that it's in battery saving mode, which is unbelievable for a car under such condition. Looking at online forum, seems like a common issue as well.

The vehicle was exposed to extreme cold (11°)for the first time since ownership. When getting into the vehicle and starting to move the windshield suffered a "Stress Fracture". Impeeding the drivers vision. This stress fracture was confirmed by a independent glass shop.

AFTER ABOUT 10 MONTHS AFTER BUYING THIS HYBRID TRUCK, THE 12V BATTERY WAS NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. I STARTED TO RECEIVE EMAILS ON MY PHONE FROM THE TRUCK STATING IT WAS GOING INTO "SLEEP MODE" AND TO DRIVE THE TRUCK TO MAINTAIN THE CHARGE. I DID THIS FOR 45 MINUTES AT 60 MPH. IT APEARED TO CHARGE BUT DID NOT LAST MORE THAN A COUPLE OF DAYS. I DROVE THE TRUCK FROM SOUTH CAROLINA TO OHIO. I WAS IN OHIO FOR 10 DAYS AND DROVE ABOUT 750 MILES AND THEN BACK TO SC WITH NO PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, AFTER 4 WEEKS, I STARTED GETTING THE SAME EMAILS. I AGAIN DROVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES AT 60 MPH. THIS TIME IT DID NOT CHARGE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND MANY OWNERS OF THIS TRUCK WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THIS TRUCK TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM OF THE BATTERY WAS NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. HE STATED THAT IT WAS A BAD BATTERY AND REPLACED IT (01-19-2026). HOWEVER, THE WORK ORDER STATED THAT THE TRUCK WAS "SLOW TO START" - - - NOT THAT THE BATTERY WAS NOT CHARGING. I DID NOT QUESTION HIM, BECAUSE I WAS HAPPY TO GET A NEW BATTERY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. LATER, I BECAME CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM MAY NOT ACTULLY BE FIXED. MY CONCERNS: 1) WHY THE WORK ORDER DID NOT EXPRESS THE PROBLEM; 2) IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND LEAVE ME STRANDED; 3) WHY ARE SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

I have the latest software update as of June 2025, recently when I shifted from reverse to Drive, the display stuck in backup camera picture. I have to put it back to Park and try again to drive and get to driving map display screen.

NOTE: VEHICLE GARAGED IN CT. WEATHER ON AVERAGE WAS IN LOW 30 DEGREES MUST USE A TRICKLE CHARGER TO MAINTAIN BATTERY OR A JUMPSTART IS REQUIRED DAILY

Wife was traveling from work to home when vehicle shut down in the middle of the roadway. Vehicle locked transmission into park. Tow truck driver nor Ford representatives via customer care could provide a means to release the parked truck. Fortunately wife suffered no injuries nor was she rear ended when truck decided to stop running and park. Dealership stated they could see error messages not shared with customer. Dealership could not tell us why vehicle shut down on its own in the middle of the roadway

Premature degradation of Passenger Side CV axel just before 16,000 miles (no complete failure) Replaced by dealership under warranty.

windshield washer system inoperative, no fluid out of nozzles. This is an FMVSS safety system. Dealer repaired restricted washer hose leading to washer jets.

Battery is constantly dead and truck loses power. Goes into BATTERY SAVER MODE. Had the battery replaced twice by Ford. Many other owners report the same problem.

This is a supplemental filing to my existing NHTSA complaint #11715308. I am requesting that the Office of Defects Investigation open a formal Preliminary Evaluation into the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid braking system. Since my original complaint, the following has occurred: Ford Motor Company denied my claim on April 2, 2026 through a three-sentence letter from a paralegal at Erskine Law PC in Michigan. The denial addressed none of the evidence submitted including repair orders, fault codes from Ford's own OASIS system, a recorded call proving warranty claim suppression, and a notarized sworn statement. The vehicle now has 107,982 miles. The ABS defect remains unrepaired after four attempts and over 50 days out of service. Active fault codes C052E and U0418 were confirmed in Ford's OASIS system when the vehicle was returned unrepaired on January 28, 2026. Ford has already issued Recall 25V787000 for brake booster ECU overheating causing loss of brake power assist in Maverick vehicles, demonstrating prior corporate knowledge of braking defects in this model line. There are currently 149 brake-related complaints in the NHTSA database for the 2024 Ford Maverick with no open ODI investigation. On [XXX], the braking defect caused a collision (APD Crash Report [XXX], no driver error assigned). I have a notarized sworn statement linking the collision to the unrepaired defect. I have concurrent active complaints with the NM Department of Justice (XXX), BBB AUTO LINE (XXX), FTC (#XXX), CFPB (#XXX), and Ford's internal SpeakUp ethics program (#XXX). I am formally requesting ODI review of the 2024 Maverick Hybrid braking system given the volume of complaints, the existing recall on related models, and Ford's documented refusal to repair my vehicle despite confirmed fault codes in their own diagnostic system. The vehicle began wobbling when accelerating, but no warning lights came on. Self inspection found the CV boot was leaking grease. The dealership confirmed damage to the CV joint and required replacement of the front axle.

*front cv axle. Both sides, yes inspection available and ford inspection report available. *unsafe to drive. When accelerating above 40 truck shakes badly. *yes problem confirmed by dealership. *has been inspected by dealers mechanic. *no warning lights, noticed at 50k miles, no warnings. I drive a lot of miles but freeway driving mainly, east to west in l.a. I heard from dealer rep that they are seeing this a lot. To the point he diagnosed the issue before the inspection and was correct.

The vehicle shakes excessively on acceleration. Very noticeable when accelerating going uphill.

While traveling on an interstate highway at night, my gas 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat unexpectedly shifted into neutral. I was not sure what was happening as the truck began to slow even while I was accelerating, I then realized it was in neutral. While still traveling at approximately 40 mph I shifted back into drive and everything was ok.

2024 Ford Maverick 8,221 ODO miles only the steering knuckle left and right 100% full of rust corrosion

6-18-25, driving at 20 mph in my neighborhood, applied brakes and pedal sank to the floor with no pressure. Pumped approximately six times with no pressure. On the last pump, I got severe juddering through the truck ( felt similar to an ABS activation) still no pedal pressure, but it did stop. Upon shutdown and restart, pedal was back to normal. Obvious safety issue as it would have caused a collision had I been on anything other than a quiet street. There were no warning lights on the dash and no fluid leaks. This is a new truck with 470 miles on it. Vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership. As of this writing no diagnosis.

Front CV axles began failing at around 20,000 miles. The truck shakes when accelerating at all speeds but especially at 40-50mph or under load.

Reverse image is freezing, even after the truck’s recall was addressed by a local Ford dealership. This is a safety issue and could potentially cost a life if someone is backing up and the reverse image freezes.

My reverse camera was having intermittent issues consistent with the recall notice where it would freeze and not show a true representation of what was behind the vehicle while in reverse. I had the recall repair work done by my local dealer for the reverse camera and the problem has not been fully resolved. The framerate on the reverse camera is still inconsistent, and the problem has not been fixed entirely. It does not give me confidence that the screen will not freeze again in the future. It appears that the software update put out by Ford does not solve the problem, in my case it made the problem appear differently, but it did not resolve the safety issue. Every time I reverse in my truck, it puts my and others safety in jeopardy. If the reverse camera ever freezes, there is no indication that it has done so. This is problematic if I were in reverse while not moving, and the camera froze with a clear path behind me. If a pedestrian, cyclist, or other vehicle moved into the path of my vehicle while the screen remained frozen and I began to reverse, it is likely that I could back into them without any indication they were there. This is worse than having no reverse camera, as it gives a false sense of security that it is safe to proceed when it may not actually be. It appears that Ford has attempted to solve a hardware issue with a software patch that is insufficient to fix the issue with the freezing reverse camera image, though the true cause is unknown to me. It is unacceptable that after having the problem 'fixed' by an approved dealer the reverse camera is still not acting properly.

Intermittent loss of power steering. My ford dealer currently has my truck, I will gladly take an inspection The loss of power steering could have caused an accident, I wasn’t able to turn my steering wheel when I was backing into a parking spot. (I also have interior dashcam footage) Not yet Not to my knowledge The only warning I got was the last time my steering went out I got the message “ Camera is unavailable Please contact your dealership” But no other warning lights or messages

On [XXX] brought Maverick 24 2.0L gas AWD on Electronic Control Unit ( ECU) to Ford Dealer#3 PJ Ford. Was advised Hybrid trucks have ECU on inside bulkhead rear cab wall behind flip down seat. However on later 2.0 L options gas are mounted behind driver side front bumper near and behind front driver side plastic/ fabric wheel well parallel to shot axel ( CVJ) approximately 12 high from ground. Upon first truck was engine started to stall due to water spay entering uncovered rear of plastic axel. Having other Broncos and Range Rover Sport filed complaint with FMC today after requesting to have ECU relocated to where Hybrid are mounted : PJ FORD service mgr. refused and FMC stated bring to another Ford dealer Bayville Ford 14 miles to south on Thursday 4/10/25 for second warrantee claim. I am afraid that in heavy rain with road flooding over 12" the engine will die and cause a rear end collision. I have waited 90 days on recall 24S59 real view camera freezing now have to get out to measure one foot of road water or waves from other trucks assembled properly. I will keep Maverick for sunny days until FMC correct " mis Assembly " of ECU in Mexico Assembly factory. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving my 2024 Ford Maverick on a highway at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power to the front wheels while passing a slower-moving vehicle. This caused the truck to jerk and decelerate rapidly in the oncoming lane, forcing me to veer back into my original lane abruptly. In doing so, I narrowly avoided a head-on collision, but the sudden maneuver caused the driver behind me to swerve off the road to avoid a rear-end collision. As a result, that vehicle went into a ditch and struck a small embankment. Three people inside suffered injuries, one with a fractured wrist, another with whiplash, and the third sustained a concussion from the impact. Emergency crews responded to the scene, and all injured individuals were transported to the hospital for evaluation. Despite the severity of the incident, there was no physical damage to my Maverick, as I was able to regain control and come to a stop safely on the shoulder. The cause was later determined to be a failure of the front driver-side CV axle and associated drivetrain components. Ford service technicians confirmed the mechanical failure after inspection. There were no warning lights, dashboard alerts, or fault codes prior to the failure. Intermittent clicking sounds during acceleration and turns had been occurring since around 3,500 miles, but the dealership initially dismissed them as normal. The full failure occurred at approximately 4,200 miles. Ford has not issued a recall or technical service bulletin related to this, though the dealer acknowledged similar reports from other Maverick owners. The failed parts remain in possession of the dealership and are available for further inspection.

Vehicle lost power and service engine light came on, transmission speed sensor, powertrain control system, PCM communication error, the second time it said pre-collision assist and powertrain malfunction reduce power. The first time it happened they replaced the transmission, the second time it completely stalled, and they could not duplicate the problem. Returned the vehicle to me without repairing anything. All codes showing on my Ford app were no longer in the computer on vehicle.

Ford provides a spare tire with their 2024 Maverick pickup truck, but does not provide a safe way to transport a damaged tire after performing a tire change. Ford's Owner's Manual for the Maverick shows on page 363 how the damaged tire is to be secured in the bed of the truck using the provided strap tied diagonally to one of the D-rings at the front of the bed and one of the cleats at the rear. Both tie down points for the strap are low enough in the bed to create a vertical force on the damaged tire and hold it down on the bed. Ford has not equipped the base model, known as Maverick XL, with the two D-rings shown in the manual. The only alternative tie down point at the front corners is a pair of cleats that are too high on the bed wall to put a vertical force on the tire. (These other cleats are shown in their Flex Bed diagram.) If attempted, the tire would be held down only by gravity and likely become a dangerous projectile. It would also be inadvisable to stow the damaged tire under the truck bed taking the place where the spare had been stored. If attempted, a damaged tire could have treads or steel cords hanging from it, which could either come in contact with a hot exhaust system or the cords could drag on the road and potentially spark a wildfire the way tow chains sometimes do. Ford's engineers have, in my opinion, designated in its Maverick Owner's Manual the only safe way to stow a damaged tire after using the Maverick's spare tire for an emergency tire change. Ford has provided the strap to secure the tire, but has not equipped all trim levels of the Maverick with the D-rings. Ford needs to provide Maverick XL owners with the two missing D-rings as well as the fasteners to mount them on the truck bed. It may also need to provide the correct size tapping tool if the existing holes were not threaded at the factory. This would remedy the inability to safely carry a damaged tire and also align with Owner's Manual instructions.

CV Axel = vibration under acceleration I will be taking it in. soon for the inspection The vibration is getting worse and has me concerned Not yet ill be taking it in shortly but this is a known problem among the community no warning lamps.

On 01 February 2025, my 2024 Ford Maverick XLT was involved in a front-end collision where two critical safety systems failed: 1.Airbag System Failure: The airbags did not deploy despite a significant front-end impact. This component is still available for inspection upon request. 2.Forward Collision Sensor Malfunction: The front collision sensor system failed to detect the obstacle and did not engage automatic braking, which contributed to the severity of the crash. This system is also available for inspection. Safety Risk: Due to these failures, my wife was hit in the chest by the force of the impact, and our dog was thrown inside the vehicle. My wife may have sustained internal injuries or bruising as a result. The failure of both the airbag system and collision avoidance system put our safety at serious risk. Problem Confirmation: The issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or service center because my insurance company (Progressive) is scheduled to inspect the vehicle on Monday. I will update this report if additional findings are confirmed. Inspection Status: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer (Ford), but I have reported the issue to them for investigation. The vehicle will be inspected by insurance representatives to assess the damage and possible system malfunctions. No police report was filed at the time of the accident. Warning Signs Prior to Failure: There were no warning lamps or error messages prior to the failure. The vehicle was operating normally until the moment of the collision.

Driving my Tremor off road and got a flat tire. Discovered the OE jack does not lift vehicle high enough off the ground to allow removal of tire in case of a flat. I believe it is due to fact that vehicle comes with a 1inch lift and tremor specific tires. I don’t think engineers thought about the jack when they added tremor package to the Maverick line.

Auto stop/start and remote functions disabled due to battery unable to meet electrical demands of the vehicle. As delivered the battery is insufficient to meet the needs of the vehicle and needs to be externally charged or driven for over 2 hrs to regain function. My concern is that in normal driving the battery ability to deliver energy may become insufficient.

This vehicle was sold to me on [XXX]. It is in my possession. I am now learning that they are on a stop sale. The dealer did not communicate the fact they were not to sell it to me, it was through their lack of follow through on providing Ford points, and not following through with the ext warranty contract for parts written in on it for a dealer purchased and installed front lift / leveling kit that I discovered it was not to be sold, because of the recall 24V-684, and stop sale because of that. Per Ford points when I called their corporate office the truck is not listed as sold, which was confirmed by Ford corporate when I called to talk to them about the issue since I was not getting a response from them. The sales mngr did call me right as I was getting off the phone with them and did talk to me about the issues was going to look into them and call me back per our discussion on [XXX]. Edgar in financing did call me to tell me that the words Lift kit “were put on the extended warranty paperwork so that when I purchased and installed the lift/leveling kit it would be covered under warranty”. That was not our discussion and it was discussed they would buy and install the front lift / leveling kit. Upon completion of paperwork I said let me know when the parts come in so we can schedule the installation. I have no means of doing a alignment, and would not want to risk messing up my first new vehicle by doing that myself, new vehicles are way to complicated for me to work on. After going back and forth with Edgar about what was or wasn’t to be included in the financing, he said Bo could have the extended warranty canceled and prorated price refunded. The mileage on the truck that day was 2483.1. After sending a picture of the mileage, I did DecPictures included are of the truck at my house after I waxed it, along with the vin and mileage of it the day I spoke with Edgar and let him know to cancel the ext wrnty on [XXX]. Unknown, My 2024 Ford Maverick has now twice got stuck in reverse (shifter indicates it is in reverse) though the dash shows park and I was unable to start the truck after removing my key and waiting a few moments it would act normal and let me start my truck. The last time it happened I was in the dealer lot and told my sales representative but we couldn’t replicate the problem he said next time it happens to record it and see if it becomes a trend that it would be covered under warranty but until it is replicable they could not do anything I don’t know when or why it happens. I just wanted to report it because I’m not sure if it’s only happening to me or if it is effecting others as well.

As I’m driving my lane assistant sometimes not picking up the lines and as I’m a little bit of a distance away, it’ll say that I’m over the line. I’m not near.

I am having trouble with the gas pedal. When you push the gas petal it makes a sound under neath the Hood. The car does want to move and when I push the gas pedal again it sounds real bad. There is something wrong. Also when you push the button to lock and unlock it makes a sound. So I took it to Freedom Ford in Wise Virginia. They took it back and about an hour this woman that works back there. She told me that the man that looked at it said that he didn’t know what was wrong with it. He said that he would have to get Someone that was an Engineer to help him. The Manager order this vehicle for me on line and put what I wanted on it. Some things wasn’t put on there. So he told me that it would take up to a year and I said that would be ok. Well, I order it toward the end of October 2023. Well In February 2024 I got my truck. There is no way that they could have fixed this vehicle and it pass through the Government. somebody fixed a Lemon. Would you please help me. This is the only 4 wheel vehicle I have. I have have it because of snow. Could you contact me at [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
