SPRAYERS COME ON WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE WHILE WIPERS ARE ON. THEY STICK IN THIS POSITION TO WHERE YOU HAVE TO PULL KNOB OUT TO STOP. THIS OCCUR'S W/O TOUCHING THE SIGNAL ARM. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN HITTING GOOD BUMP IN ROAD.*AK
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN THE RAIN AND ACCELERATING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC WHEN THE BELT THAT DRIVES THE POWER BRAKE AND STEERING ASSIST CAME OFF AND CAUSED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER ASSIST TO BOTH THE STEERING AND BRAKES. *AK
ON FEB. 24TH, 2001, I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 21 MILES SHOWING ON THE ODOMETER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND THE NEXT DAY, I CRANKED THE AUTO AND THE SERVICE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DAY WAS SUNDAY AND THE DEALERSHIP, NOR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WERE OPEN. I WAITED UNTIL MONDAY MORNING TO DRIVE THE CAR, AND THEN WENT STRAIGHT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID THE CATALYTIC SENSOR WAS ACTING UP AND THEY WOULD TURN THE LIGHT OFF AND THAT SHOULD FIX IT. HOWEVER, IF THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, I WAS TO BRING THE CAR BACK. I HAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES, DUE TO THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. I WAS TOLD AFTER THE SECOND REPLACEMENT OF A SENSOR IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR, THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN GIVEN BAD GAS BEFORE I HAD PURCHASED IT, CAUSING THEM, THE SERVICE REPAIRMEN, TO HAVE TO COMPLETELY TAKE APART THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CLEAN IT FROM ENGINE TO EXHAUST. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED UNTIL AFTER THEY COMPLETELY REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR. INFORMATION WAS WITHHELD CONCERNING REPAIR TO THE VEHICLE BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. THE REPLACEMENT WAS FINALLY COMPLETED BY APRIL 15TH, 2001. MY NEXT PROBLEM OCCURED ON JULY 13TH, 2001. I WAS RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO COLORADO WITH MY FATHER, WHEN AS WE WERE TRAVELING, I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THEN FELT WATER HIT MY FOOT. I HAD BEEN RIDING ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AT THE TIME. WHEN I NOTICED THE WATER, I LOOKED TOWARD THE FLOORBOARD AND ALSO FOUND THAT THE DASHBOARD HAD SHIFTED TO THE LEFT AND FALLEN FROM THE WINDOW. WE ARRIVED AT HOME LATER THAT DAY AND I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN AND DO A COMPLETE ONCE OVER TO SEE WHAT HAD CAUSED THE LEAKING. I TOOK IT IN ON JULY 17TH. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DASH OR COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES THUS FAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THREE FOR THE FRONT END. *AK
DRIVERS SEAT BROKE WHILE ADJUSTING HEIGHT. THE SEAT WOULD ROCK BACK AND FORTH. CREAKING NOISE FROM LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT A WELD IN THE UNIBODY HAND FAILED.*AK
MOISTURE IS GETTING INSIDE HEADLIGHTS, CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO BE DIM. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, DRIVERS SEAT BROKE. SOME BOLTS UNDER THE SEAT BROKE CAUSING DRIVERS SEAT TO ROCK BACK WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TO PULL ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE SEAT FROM MOVING BACK WHILE DRIVING.*AK
THE VEHICLE HAS A SURGE/HESITATION IN OVERDRIVE BETWEEN 1200 AND 1600 RPM'S AND ALSO IN THIRD GEAR AT ABOUT 2000 RPM'S. DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT DO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP ADMITS THAT FORD SERVICE REPS ARE AWARE OF OTHER CARS WITH SAME SYMPTOMS.
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH AND DECREASING SPEED, THE ENGINE AND ALL POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES CEASED AT ABOUT 40MPH WHILE BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. FIRST TIME WAS SOMETIME IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR (2001).*AK
2001 FORD MUSTANG HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY SEALS FAILED.*MR NO ADDRESS PROVIDED - NO ANSWER REQUIRED. *MJJ THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS WERE FOGGING WITH MOISTURE. THE HEADLIGHT WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE PROBLEM RETURNED. THE LENSES WERE SLOWLY DEVELOPING A SILVER-GREY FILM. *SC
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT YET THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE DRIVER AND A PASSENGER SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES FROM THIS ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. NLM
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 35 MPH WHEN IT WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUSTAINED HEAD AND BACK INJURIES. MANUFACTURER SENT AN INSPECTOR, WHO STATED AIR BAGS SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED.*AK
RESTRAINT RETRACTED AND LOCKED NEARLY CHOKING THE OCCUPANT. OWNER HAD TO CUT RESTRAINT TO FREE PASSENGER. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
THIS IS THE 2ND MUSTANG 5SPD TRANSMISSION I HAVE PURCHASED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. CONCERNS OF VIBRATION FELT THROUGH THE SEATS,FLOOR,AND STEERING WHEEL WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS! BEING THE 2ND VEHICLE, I HAVE BEEN BATTLEING THE DEALERSHIP FOR A WHOLE YEAR AND HAVE JUST NOW BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTNITY TO MEET WITH A FORD REP.THE POBLEM HAS BEEN OVERSEEN BY A FORD TECH. TWICE WITH A REPLACEMENT OF DRIVESHAFT TWICE WHICH STILL HASN'T RESOLVED THE PROBLEM.I HAVE TESTIMONY FROM OTHR SERVICE REPS WITH OTHER DEALERSHIPS THAT STATE THEY FEEL THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND IT IS NOT THE TIRES!(VIBRATION THAT IS) ALSO MANGR. AND TECHS.AT A GOODYEAR TIRE SHOP.THE DEALERSHIP"S SHOP FOREMAN FELT THE ABNORMAL VIBRATION ON A TESTDRIVE WITH ME AND FELT IT WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY,HOWEVER, HIS SERVICE MANGR. LATER WENT ON TEST DRIVE AND STATED THAT HE FELT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. ALSO THE FORD REP. TESTDROVE THE CAR AND STATED HE FELT NO PROBLEM EITHER!. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED IN THE PAST YEAR OVER 9 TIMES FOR THE VIBRATION! SO THERE WAS A PRECEDENT ALREADY SET BEFORE THE FORD REP. GOT INVOLVED. MY CONCERN IS THAT I STILL HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS ANABNORMAL VIBRATION WHILE TRAVELING BETWEEN 65-75MPH ON HIGHWAY, IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY ME, THE DEALERSHIP,AND FORD. THE VIBRATION KEEPS COMING BACK AND I HAVEBEEN TOLD BY REPUTABLE SOURCES THAT IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF ABNORMAL WEAR THAT CAN HAPPEN TO MY TIRES FROM THIS ABNORMAL VIBRATION I TOLD THIS TO FORD, MANY MONTHS AGO, SO THEY SWITCHED MY TIRES, INCLUDING THE BRAND(FROM GOODYEAR TO MICHELLINS)WHEN THE FORD REP. WAS ASKED THE QUESTION BY ME HOW IS IT THAT TH DEALER'S SHOP FOREMAN FELT THE ABNORMAL VIBRATION AND HE DIDN'T, HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT IT ALL ENDED WITH HIM NO MATTER WHO FOUND WHAT!!!THIS PROBABLY SEEMS VERY CONVOLUDED BUT I AM JUST EXPRESSING MY CONCERNS WITH REGARDS TO MY SAFETY ,AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF MY FELLOW CONSUMERS. SPECIAL GAS/BRAKE/CLUTCH PEDALS IN MUSTANG GT BULLITT EDITION (ONLY) CAN SLIP OUT FROM UNDER FOOT WHEN FOOT PRESSURE IS APPLIED IN WET AND ESPECIALLY SOAPY CONDITIONS (I.E. CAR WASH). CLUTCH PEDAL IS ESPECIALLY PRONE TO SLIPPAGE. RUBBER NUBS ON PEDALS CAN ALSO COME OFF WITH CERTAIN SHOES, REDUCING FOOT-PEDAL FRICTION FURTHER.*AK
THE HEADLAMP LENSES ARE FOGGED OVER FROM THE INSIDE. THE HEADLAMP APPEARS TO HAVE A FLAKY FILM ON THE INSIDE OF THE LENS. THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE AS TIME PASSED. I HAVE TALKED WITH MULTIPLE DEALERS AND THE MANUFACTURER AND NOTHING WAS DONE. THE RESPONSE REMAINS THE SAME, "IT JUST HAPPENS." THE FILM HAS BECOME SO THICK THAT IT IS IMPAIRING THE LIGHT COMING FROM THE HEADLAMP AT NIGHT. *TR
TL*-THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2001 FORD MUSTANG PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT DIDN'T RELEASE. ON JANUARY 1, 2007 THE SEAT BELT WOULDN'T COME OUT OF THE HOLDER. THE CONTACT NEVER NOTICED THIS BECAUSE NO ONE EVER SAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELT COULD NOT BE WORN BY ANYONE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE, IT WILL NOT WORK. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT RETRACTOR ONLY WORKED IF ONE PLAYED WITH IT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE BELT WILL NOT RETRACT INTO THE HOLDER ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED HER THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS FOR THE SEAT BELT. THERE WAS A RECALL 99V250000 ON FORD MUSTANGS FROM 1999-2000 FOR SEAT BELT FAILURE SHE THOUGHT THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD COMPENSATE THE CONSUMER IN SOME WAY FOR THE SEAT BELT FAILURES. *AK

DIFFERENTIAL MAKES A POPPING NOISE WHEN TAKING OFF IN THE MORNINGS. *AK
HAD MANUALLY SHIFTED VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABOUT TO SET BRAKES WHENVEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD. IT SEEMS TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF NEUTRAL INTO DRIVE.*AK
WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 5MPH WHEN FOR NO REASON AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. VEHICLE THEN BUMPED INTO WOODEN FENCE. DRIVER SUFFERED BURNS ON ARMS.*AK CONSUMER WROTE IN STATING "THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR IT ROLLED FORWARD BUMPING A WOOD FENCE POST AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED". *SLC
SEAT BELT PROBLEMS WITH A 2001 FORD MUSTANG. FAXED A LETTER TO DOT DECEMBER 17, 2003 RELATIVE TO THE SEAT BELTS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. INQUIRING IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE FAXED LETTER AND IF THERE WAS RESPONSE TO THE PROBLEM? THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNLESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, THIS PROBLEM OCCURED INTERMITTENTLY, THE DEALER REPLACED 2 MASTER CYLINDERS, AFTER THE 2 MASTER CYLINDERS WERE REPLACED THE PROBLEM BEGAN TO REOCCUR BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NLM

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SHUTDOWN ON HIGHWAY. POWER STEERING WAS LOST. HAD TO RESTART (CRANK) ENGINE WHILE CAR WAS STILL ROLLING. FOLLOWING DAYS, ON-BOARD COMPUTER WOULD RESET RANDOMLY (AVERAGE TWICE A DAY) WITH ALL THE DIALS SWINGING TO THE RIGHT (FULLY CLOCKWISE) AND THE RADIO/CD SWITCHES ON & OFF RANDOMLY (3-4 TIMES A DAY)
FUEL PUMP BREAKS FREE FROM IN-TANK ATTACHMENT POINT RESULTING IN FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR MALFUNCTION AND FUEL STARVATION WHEN CORNING, ACCELERATION OR ABRUPT DECELERATION. CAUSES UNEXPECTED LAG IN ACCELERATION OR VEHICLE MAY STALL AT INOPPORTUNE TIMES. SINCE ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY BY FORD THE FUEL SENDER IN THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED/REPLACED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES. DEALERSHIP NOTED THAT THE PLASTIC RING SENDER ATTACHES TO CRACKS AND ONLY WAY TO REPAIR IS TO REPLACE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AT COST OF APPROX $900. MOST RECENT 2 REPLACEMENTS OCCURRED OUTSIDE OF EXTENDED WARRANTY BY A FEW DAYS AND FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED OVER THE WINTER AND ISSUE WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL VEHICLE CAME OUT OF STORAGE AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. REPAIR HAD OCCURRED IN FALL BEFORE VEHICLE WENT INTO STORAGE. EACH TIME FUEL TANK IS REPLACE RING CRACKS AGAIN, USUALLY WITHIN 30-90DAYS. THIS IS A HAZARD AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL EXPERIENCE FUEL STARVATION OR STALLING, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN ACCIDENT OR INJURY OUTSIDE DRIVERS ABILITY TO AVOID. *TR
RIGHT FRONT TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 60 MPH, WITH ONLY DRIVER IN A 2001, FORD, MUSTANG; ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, TIRE SIZE P205/65R15, DOT# UNAVAILABLE. GOODYEAR WAS NOT CONTACTED AT THIS TIME.*AK *JB
WIPERS NOT WORKING AT TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASED, AND FORD COMPANY SAID THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM TO FIX. STEREO AND IN-SIDE LIGHT REMAIN ON AFTER THE KEY IS REMOVED SINCE WE PURCHASED IN 2001. WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AND THE AIR CONTINUER IS NOT WORKING SINCE 37,000.00 MILES (WARRANTY IS UP)!. *JB
THROTTLE DOES NOT RETURN TO IDLE WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. *AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, GASOLINE FUMES IN VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, WHO FOUND FUEL INJECTORS WERE LOCKED IN OPEN POSITION, GAS WAS FLOODING THE SYSTEM. THIS DESTROYED CATALYTIC CONVERTER. CONSUMER FOUND OUT THAT VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED AT DEALERSHIP BEFORE SHE PURCHASED VEHICLE FOR SAME PROBLEM. COMPUTER READOUT FROM FIRST REPAIR SAID: VEHICLE NOT RUNNING RIGHT. CONSUMER FELT SHE DID NOT RECEIVE A NEW VEHICLE AS IT WAS REPAIRED, AND SHE HAD NOT BEEN TOLD. *AK
INITIALLY BRAKE PEDAL WAS STICKING THEN IT STARTED SINKING TO THE FLOOR ON APPLICATION. HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS AND WHILE COMING AT A STANDSTILL. DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THE COMPONENT IS UNAVAILABLE (AND NO DATE OF POSSIBLE AVAILABILITY IS FORTHCOMING FROM FORD). THE VEHICE IS WITH DEALER FOR LAST FIVE DAYS.*AK
WHEN DECEL & DOWNSHIFTING, THE ENGINE HAS DIED ON ME 3 TIMES. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, NO ERROR MSG. WHEN ENGINE DIES, LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE. SHOULD NOT STALL AT 50+ MILES AN HOUR AND ONLY 7K MILES ON THE ENGINE. I HAVE HEARD OF NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM ON 99 AND UP MUSTANG GT'S. MY ENGINE WAS ALSO LEAKING OIL FROM THE ENGINE INTAKE VALVE, SO FORD HAS DECIDED TO GIVE ME AN ENTIRELY NEW ENINE. HOWEVER, IT IS YET TO BE SEEN IF THIS WILL FIX THE STALL PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY SCARY, CONSIDERING IT HAPPENED TO ME IN THE RAIN THE LAST TIME. I COULD HAVE EASILY SLID INTO ANOTHER CAR IF ONE HAD BEEN NEAR ME. PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS PROBLEM GO UNNOTICED. THE VEHICLE'S HOOD WAS TWO SMALL WHICH CAUSED THE ACCELERATOR CABLE TO RUB AGAINST IT. THE HOOD WAS REPLACED BUT PROBLEM STILL EXIST. *NLM
TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON DASHBOARD CAME ON, AND SUDDENLY ABS LOCKED UP FOR A COUPLE SECONDS WHILE VEHICLE WAS JUST BEING DRIVEN OUT OF A PARKING LOT. CONSUMER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, AND WAS INFORMED THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK *SLC
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WILL SURGE AND HESITATE WHEN IN TRAFFIC*AK
WHILE COASTING OUT OF CAR WASH VEHICLE SLID ON ICE, BUMPED INTO VACUUM. AT THAT TIME, BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *AK THERE WAS NO NOTICABLE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR PLAT FORM. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE AIR BAG SYSTEM MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE TO HAVE DEPLOYED WITHOUT IMPACT. *YH
WHEN DRIVING THERE IS A VIBRATION WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS INTO A HIGHER GEAR. IT DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, THERE IS A GRINDING VIBRATION. THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN SAID " THEY ALL DO IT, THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USE TO".*AK
AT ANY SPEED ON HIGHWAY HAND BRAKES SHAKE AND VIBRATE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. *AK *SLC
MAIN DISTRIBUTOR BOX JUST BEHIND BATTERY, NEXT TO WINDOW WASHER FLD CONTAINER, HAS A BUNDLE OF WIRES COMING TO IT AND ATTACHED BY A CONNECTOR. THE CONNECTOR WAS NEVER FULLY TIGHTENED IN THE FACTORY ACCORDING TO A "MASTER MECHANIC" AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM. AFTER SEVERAL LOOSE CONNECTIONS, THE CAR DIEING WITHOUT WARNING AND NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM I THREATENED TO GET AN ATTORNEY. THE MASTER MECHANIC HAD NO EXPLANATION WHY THE OTHER MECHANICS DIDN'T RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. HE STATED TO THE FOREMAN IN MY PRESENCE, "EVERY CAR COMING OFF THE LOT FROM FORD HAS TO HAVE THE CONNECTOR TIGHTENED BEFORE WE LET IT OFF THE LOT (AS SOLD). IF I WASN'T SUCH A GOOD DRIVER, I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ON ANY ONE OF THE TOTAL POWER FAILURES.*AK
