HESITATION IN GAS PEDAL/THROTTLE BODY. WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP THE CAR WILL NOT TAKE THE GAS UNTIL THE GAS PEDAL IS DOWN TO ABOUT HALF THROTTLE AT WHICH TIME IT WILL LUNGE AND I MUST LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL ONLY TO REPEAT THE PROCESS UNTIL THE SPEED REACHES ABOUT 30 MPH. VERY DANGEROUS. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL, 2005-2014 FORD MUSTANG. I HAVE THREE OF THESE AND THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE PREVIOUS OWNERS SAY THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN THERE SINCE THE MILEAGE WAS PRETTY LOW. HOW MANY MUST DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE SOMEONE FORCES A RECALL FOR REPAIRS ON THESE VEHICLES?
THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, YESTERDAY BEING THE MOST RECENT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR WILL DROP INTO LIMP HOME MODE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. IT IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN FORD'S CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. THEY WILL NOT COVER THE MUSTANG, AS IT WAS NOT PART OF THE PROGRAM. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. *TR
CAME BEHIND SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE, PUSHED PEDAL DOWN TO PASS PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE CAR LITERALLY WAS DRIVING ITSELF SPEED KEPT INCREASING DRAMATICALLY. SLAMMED ACCELERATOR PEDAL HARD AS I HIT THE BRAKE. FINALLY RELEASED. PULLED OVER NO CARPETING OR MATS INTERFERING WITH THE PEDAL OPERATION. TODAY, 7/25 IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT MORE VIOLENTLY. SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN ENGAGING PASSING GEAR. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR OVER 45 YEARS AS OVER THE ROAD SALES ENGINEER, NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH TOTAL LACK OF VEHICLE CONTROL. WORSE WE ARE IN CANADA IN THE YUKON TERRITORY 3200 MILES FROM OUR FORD STORE. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO PUMP GAS, THE SENSOR CUTS THE FLOW OF GAS OFF AT ABOUT ONE HALF GALLON. IF YOU REMOVE THE NOZZLE, GAS SPLASHES BACK AND ALL OVER THE PERSON PUMPING, THE CAR AND THE GROUND. WHEN YOU CONTINUE TO PUMP, THE SENSOR CUTS OFF EVERY SECOND. THERE IS NO WAY THE TANK CAN BE FILLED IN ITS ENTIRETY. I HAVE HAD THE GAS SET UP REBUILT BY MY LOCAL MECHANIC, THINKING SOMETHING MIGHT BE BLOCKING THE CONNECTION OF GAS ENTRY TO TANK, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THIS IS COMMON, THAT I MUST FIND A GAS STATION THAT HAS A SPECIFIC PUMP WITH NO SENSOR (NOT A SINGLE STATION ANYWHERE NEAR MY RESIDENCE), I HAVE TO TILT THE PUMP AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. WELL, I TRIED ALL OF THE SUGGESTIONS, YET MY CAR IS STILL SPLASHING GAS, ETC. THIS IS A HAZARD! NOT ONLY SPILLING GAS ON THE GROUND AND VEHICLE, BUT MYSELF!! ALSO, I CANNOT FILL THE TANK, MAKING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN NEW ENGLAND WINTERS WHERE YOU CAN GET STRANDED FOR HOURS IN YOUR CAR IN ROAD ACCIDENTS, CONDITIONS, ETC. PLEASE HELP! I DO NOT THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO HUNT DOWN A SPECIFIC GAS STATION THAT DOESN'T EXIST, OR SPEND MORE MONEY TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN FIX THIS, OR WEAR GASOLINE WHEREVER I GO. PLEASE HELP!!!!! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE REFUELED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
THE ENGINE ON MY 2007 FORD MUSTANG WAS REVVING HIGH WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE. WHEN I PUT IT INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF ON ME HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND CRASHING THROUGH A WALL ACROSS FROM THE SPOT I WAS PARKED IN. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAS NOT HAPPENED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT BUT THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 5,075 MILES ON IT. *TR
2007 FORD MUSTANG WILL NOT FILL UP PAST 1/2 TANK OF FUEL, THE DEALER STATES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND TO TAKE IT TO A DIFFERENT STATION. I'VE BEEN TO STATIONS ALL OVER THE WEST AND RARELY FIND ONE THAT WILL LET ME FILL UP EVEN WHEN RUNNING THE PUMP AT MINIMUM WHILE NOT FULLY ENGAGING THE PUMP INTO THE FILLER. I'VE NOTICED THAT NO PUMPS THAT HAVE VAPOR RECOVERY BOOTS WILL FILL THE CAR UP BEYOND 1/3 TANK. WHICH PRETTY MUCH RULES OUT TAKING THE CAR TO CALIFORNIA FOR ANY REASON. I HAVE A 2007 FORD MUSTANG 4.0 V6 WITH APPROXIMATELY 42K MILES. IT HAS RECENTLY DEVELOPED A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT WHICH THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE. FOR NO APPARENT REASON, WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND WITH MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BREAK PEDAL,, THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY GO FULL THROTTLE. THIS FORCES THE CAR TO SUDDENLY LUNGE FORWARD AS THE REAR TIRES START SPINNING, OVERRIDING THE FRONT BREAKS. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO COME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME OR ENTERING AN INTERSECTION INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO QUICKLY TURN OFF THE IGNITION WHICH SEEMS TO RESET THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS WITH SOME REGULARITY, APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 TIMES A DAY BUT IS NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON DEMAND. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS OFFERED TO INVESTIGATE, AT MY EXPENSE, BUT WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE CORRECTED. I HAVE HAD TO ALTER THE WAY THAT I DRIVE TO COMPENSATE FOR THIS BY LEAVING ADDITIONAL SPACE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE ONE IN FRONT OF ME AND AT INTERSECTIONS. I FEAR THAT I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PREVENT MY VEHICLE FROM BECOMING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. *TR

FUEL FILLING IS AWKWARD TO SAY THE LEAST! I CAN ONLY FILL TO JUST OVER HALF A TANK OF FUEL THEN THE CLICKER FORCES ME TO STOP. AFTER ONLY GETTING ABOUT 1.87 GALLONS IN, THE PUMP CLICKED OFF. I TRIED TO PUMP MORE GAS INTO THE TANK AND WAS SURPRISED WHEN IT STARTED TO OVERFLOW. (AFTER STARTING THE CAR BACK UP, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS STILL IN THE SAME SPOT BEFORE I STARTED FUELING) I ALSO NOTICED THAT IN THE RECENT WEEKS MY "PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT" DOES NOT READ IT IS IN THE "OFF" POSITION WHEN NO PASSENGER IS PRESENT, EVEN THOUGH IT DID READ THIS BEFORE. THE PUMP HANDLE SUDDENLY STOPPED PUMPING GAS AND THERE WAS NO OVERFLOW, WARNING INDICATORS, OR NOISES. THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS HALF FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE 2005 MODEL THAT WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10014651 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER). THE DEALER COULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE GAS TANK HAD TWO PARTS AND WAS NOT TRANSFERRING THE GAS TO THE SECOND TANK. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,065 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,500. UPDATED 3/4/08 *CN
EVERY TIME YOU GO TO PUT FUEL IN THE CAR, THE PUMP WILL KICK OFF LIKE THE FUEL TANK IS FULL BUT IT'S NOT. THEN THE WHOLE TIME YOU ARE TRYING TO PUMP GAS IT WILL KICK OFF PROBABLY 20 MORE TIMES UNTIL YOU ARE DONE. THIS IS BEEN ONGOING EVERY SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. WHAT SHOULD BE A FIVE MINUTE JOB TO FILL UP YOUR GAS TANK CAN TAKE AS MUCH AS 20 MINUTES. IHAD ANOTHER 2007 FORD MUSTANG THAT DID THE VERY SAME THING BUT I RAN OFF A LOW SHOULDER AND PART OF THE ESTIMATE WAS THAT I HAD TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK AND IRONICALLY I NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE AGAIN ON THAT CAR. THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE BUILD UP IN FUEL TANK WHEN FILLING. SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN DURING EXTREME TEMPERATURES (I.E. SUMMER HEAT, EXTREME COLD). IT TAKES THREE TIMES AS LONG TO FILL DUE TO THE FACT THAT I CAN BARELY PULL THE TRIGGER IF I WANT THE CAR TO ACCEPT GAS. *TR
