The clutch/flywheel/ and or other components of the drive train/engine/transmission connection are faulty and are known to fail for the 2007-2009 Shelby Ford Mustang GT 500 as documented in the numerous Ford Technical Service Bullitens (TSB). This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Late this summer (2023), I was driving this vehicle with my kids in the car and attempting to merge on the entry ramp for the expressway. I experienced a sudden loss of acceleration and the RPMs immediately "redlined". I had to pull over to the shoulder of the expressway so I would not be rear-ended. I researched this issue and found hundreds of posts on Mustang forums documenting this known issue and the TSB issued by Ford. I have reached out to Ford directly and had my vehicle inspected at a Ford Dealership. The Ford Dealership indicated the issues were consistent with the known defective parts. There were zero warnings either by warning lights or symptoms and I am just fortunate to have been in an accident with my children. I only have approximately 27,000 miles on this vehicle and it is not modified in any way. I have the dealership documentation as well that I can email at a later date. I unfortunately do not have it in electronic format at this time.

AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON
WHEN IT RAINS, WATER IS LEAKING UNDER THE WINDSHIELD INTO THE DUCT WORK AND ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. HEAVY RAINS HAVE CAUSED AS MUCH AS 5 INCHES OF WATER TO LAY ON PASSENGER FLOOR. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED THE SMART JUNCTION BOX TO MALFUNCTION AND CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE. I NOW HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW BOX AND HAVE IT PROGRAMMED, WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I HAVE READ ARTICLES ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER 2009 MUSTANGS. FORD HAS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. NOT ONLY IS IT EXPENSIVE TO FIX, IT ALSO IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE TO IGNITE WITHIN THE CAR. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD MUSTANG EQUIPPED WITH COOPER ZEON R53-61R20 TIRES, SIZE: 255/40/ZR19-XL (NA). WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SOUND IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE ENTIRE CROWN AT THE MIDDLE OF REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS SPLIT AND DETACHED. THE CONTACT WAS ASSISTED IN CHANGING THE TIRE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE CONTACT CALLED MARVIS DISCOUNT TIRE CENTER AND WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE HE DID NOT PURCHASE THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SERVICE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HIM. THE TIRE CENTER SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT CALL THE TIRE MANUFACTURER (COOPER TIRES). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF THE CONTACT TOOK THE TIRE TO THE DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, THE MANUFACTURER WOULD POSSIBLY REFUND THE COST OF THE TIRE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE HAD THREE MORE COOPER TIRES THAT COULD HAVE THE SAME FAILURE. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,944.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2009 MUSTANG AND AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, HE SLOWLY ACCELERATED AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED QUICKLY ON ITS OWN. HE SAID THE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, HE TRIED PUSHING BRAKE AND IT WAS NOT STOPPING THE CAR. IT SENT HIM THROUGH ANOTHER INTERSECTION, HE ENGAGED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO NO AVAIL. LUCKILY HIS CAR WENT THROUGH AN AREA OF SOGGY GRASS THAT HELPED SLOW THE CAR DOWN, AND CAME TO A STOP BY RUNNING INTO HEDGES AND RESTING NEXT TO A BRICK CHURCH. HE DESCRIBED HEARING THE RPM'S REVVING UP ALONG WITH THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. HE ALSO DESCRIBED THE STEERING WHEEL AS "LOCKING UP".
PULLED UP A DRIVEWAY AND PUT MY 2009 FORD MUSTANG IN PARK, STARTED ACCELERATING ON IT'S OWN. WOULD DECELERATE AFTER PRESSING AND RELEASING THE GAS PEDAL BUT WOULD START ACCELERATING AGAIN ON IT'S OWN. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN RESTARTED ACTED AND DROVE FINE. HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM.
RANDOM ACCELERATION. BACKED OUT OF PARKING SPACE , PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND PRESSED ACCELERATOR TO MOVE FORWARD. ACCELERATION INCREASED ON ITS OWN. REMOVED FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR, PRESSED THE BRAKE. ACCELERATION CONTINUED TO INCREASE, HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL HARD.. ACCELERATOR CONTINUED TO INCREASE ON ITS OWN. (COULDN'T STOP VEHICLE) HIT A CURB AND FLIPPED THE VEHICLE.
SERVO ON TRANSMISSION PUSHED SNAP OUT OF RETAINING GROOVE CAUSING LOSS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED.SERVO PUSHED OUT OF TRANS,CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL THAN LURCHED AHEAD ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

RECEIVED URGENT AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL- TRIED CALLING TO SET UP APPOINTMENT AT DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS A BRANDED TITLE AND CANNOT REPAIR IT.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

TAKARA INFLATORS: MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I AM HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME GETTING MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO TAKE CARE OF THE RECALL BECAUSE I DID NOT BUY THE CAR FROM THEM. I HAVE BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR OVER A YEAR. I CALLED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND HAD TO PUT MY NAME ON THE LIST AGAIN! I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PARTS AND HE COULD NOT GIVE ME AN APPROXIMATE IDEA OF HOW LONG THIS WOULD TAKE.

TAKATA RECALL. FORD HAS YET TO FIX MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THEY PREDICT THEY "MIGHT HAVE" REPLACEMENT PARTS IN THE SPRING OF 2018 BUT THE LETTER RECEIVED ONLY STATES SELECT VEHICLES. THEIR REMEDY IS TO NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT IS A FORD MUSTANG. THE BACKSEAT IS NOT BIG AT ALL AND IS ONLY COMFORTABLE IF YOU HAVE A DOUBLE AMPUTEE BACK THEIR. HOW IS MY WIFE WHO IS CLAUSTROPHOBIC SUPPOSED TO RIDE WITH ME? THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THIS WILL ALSO EFFECT IF I EVER WANT TO TRADE IT IN OR RESELL MY VEHICLE AS IT IS A POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP FOR A PASSENGER. FORD HAS TAKEN A 4 PASSENGER CAR THAT IS REALLY ONLY FOR 2 PEOPLE COMFORTABLE AND MADE IT A ONE SEATER.

TAKATA RECALL - REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE YET
TAKATA RECALL- I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AUTONATION IN MEMPHIS TENNESSEE AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME JUST FOR DIAGNOSING THE VEHICLE. MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND I WAS THOUGHT THAT IT WAS FREE OF CHARGE SINCE THERE IS A RECALL.
TAKATA RECALL. MANUFACTURER RECALL 16S26. TWO DEALERS WHERE I HAVE INQUIRED STATE THAT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND MAY NOT BE MANUFACTURED AT ALL BECAUSE TAKATA WILL BE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.
TAKTA RECALL. FORD DOES NOT HAVE PARTS TO REPLACE AIRBAGS AND HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER A YEAR. THIS PUTS ME AND ANY PASSENGERS AT RISK ON A DAILY BASIS.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE CALLED BOTH GRESHAM FORD AND LANDCASTER FORD SINCE MY FIRST NOTICE ON JULY 2016. BOTH HAVE TOLD ME THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE AND BEING MADE AND THAT THEY WILL CONTACT ME FOR REPLACEMENT AS SOON AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. AS OF YET HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACTION.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE NOT RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM A DEALERSHIP SAYING THAT MY AIR BAG RECALL CAN BE FIXED. THEY JUST CONTINUALLY SAY WE DO NOT HAVE THE PART YET TO FIX THE RECALL ON YOUR AIRBAG. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND MY PASSENGERS LIFE IF THIS RECALL ON THE AIRBAG IS NOT FIXED.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT NOT THE PASSENGER SIDE AND EVERY TIME I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I AM TOLD THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE.
I HAD THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG REPLACED ON MY MUSTANG BY A DEALERSHIP, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED. ALL OF THE DEALERS IN MY AREA KEEP TELLING ME THE PART IS NOT IN STOCK FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. NOW THEY SAY THEY WILL CALL ME, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM ANY OF THE DEALERSHIPS. THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I DON'T HAVE A CURRENT PICTURE OF THE MUSTANG BUT IT IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE.
TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL 16V081- IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN SAND CITY, CA. CYPRESS COAST FORD CONTINUES TO STATE THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO SATISFY THE RECALL. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DAILY AND CONSIDER IT A RISK TO MY SAFETY THAT THE AIRBAG HAS BEEN RECALLED AND YET THERE IS NO RESOLUTION STILL.
GREENWAY FORD REPLACED MY DRIVER AIRBAG IN A TIMELY MANNER, HOWEVER I HAVE CONTACTED GREENWAY FORD IN ORLANDO, FL SEVERAL TIMES TO SCHEDULE THE REPLACEMENT OF MY PASSENGER AND SIDE AIRBAGS. AS OF THE LAST INQUIRY ON SEPT 16, 2017 HEY ARE SAYING THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. NOW I SEE THAT TAKATA IS FILING BANKRUPTCY AND WILL DENY LIABILITY. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT NOT HAVING THESE AIRBAGS REPLACED. ARE THERE ANY OTHER OPTIONS?

THE SUMMERVILLE FORD DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED AND THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHERS IN LINE TO RECEIVE THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUES. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT AND VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL...AIR BAG RECALL IS INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE YET. WENT TO DEALERSHIPS FOR REPAIRS AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS AND TO CALL ON OCCASION TO GET UPDATES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOR THE RECALL AND THE AIRBAG ANNUNCIATOR IS ON
CALLED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, KEEPS SAYING PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE-KEEP GETTING DANGER DEFECTIVE MAILINGS - HOW CAN I GET FIXED IF NO PARTS??????????
TAKATA RECALL ISSUE GETTING PARTS TO COMPLETE RECALL. HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIRBAG RECALL RESOLVED FOR OVER A YEAR, PASSENGER AIR BAG PARTS NOT AVAILABLE TO DEALER. HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG PARTS.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OF TH AIRBAG NOT BEING SAFE AN SIERIOUS INJURY COULD OCCUR IF IN AN ACIDENT. CALLED TO SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT ,ONE AIRBAG HAS BEEN REPLACED. WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ALRIGHT TO DRIVE CAR, BEEN ALMOST A YEAR STILL NO RESPONSE ON REPAIR. FEEL LUCK IS RUNNING OUT ON WHEN SOMETHING SERIOUS IS GOING TO GO WRONG. DEALER REALLY DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH ME, EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE.
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MPH IN MID MORNING TRAFFIC. I WENT THROUGH A TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON A CITY STREET AT WHICH TIME MY ENGINE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RPM. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR STOP IT EVEN THOUGH I HAD DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. I DID LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, SPUN AROUND TOTALLY MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER AND THEN STOPPING AGAINST GUIDE WIRE. THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING WHEN THE CAR STOPPED. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND I WAS TRANSPORTED BY EMS TO THE ER.
I TOOK MY 2009 MUSTANG TO THE COLUMBUS, OHIO DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG RECALL WHICH EVIDENTLY THEY FIXED. THE NEXT DAY MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON WHICH IT HAS NEVER DONE BEFORE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD NOW THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS INOPERABLE AND IT WOULD COST $750 TO REPAIR AND NOW NEITHER AIRBAG WAS WORKING. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS UNDER RECALL AS WELL. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK AND THE SERVICE PERSON HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THAT RECALL CODE 17S01. I EVEN GAVE HIM THE CODE NUMBER. NOW THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPAIR SUPPOSEDLY BECAUSE THE PART OF THE AIRBAG THAT IS BROKEN IS NOT COVERED ON THIS RECALL.
MY CAR STALLED A FEW TIMES WHEN I STOPPED AT STOP SIGNS THEN IT DIDNT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR A FEW WEEKS. THIS TIME I WAS RUNNING INTO DUNKINS TO GET A COFFEE SHUT THE CAR OFF CAME OUT 2 MIN LATER STARTED THE CAR WENT TO DRIVE AWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHUT OFF CAR WAITED A MIN RESTARTED IT AND NO PROBLEM DROVE ON. A FEW DAYS LATER SAME THING RAN IN STORE CAME OUT AND IT DID IT AGAIN. BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC HE HOOKED IT UP TOLD ME IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. HE TOLD ME FORD HAD RECALLS ON MANY OF THE CARS FOR THIS BUT NO IDEA WHY THE MUSTANG WAS NOT RECALLED CAUSE IT USED THE SAME PART AS THE OTHER CAR. HAD TO GET IT REPLACED. THEY SAID IF I KEPT DRIVING IT LIKE THAT IT WOULD GO INTO LIMP MODE AND THATS VERY BAD WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSE THAT COULD CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE MUSTANG WOULD NOT BE ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR TACHOMETER WAS RACING UP AND DOWN PERIODICLLY WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT THE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE REASON AND SAID THE CAR WAS FINE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF PHOTO YOU WANT BELOW. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PART THE MECHANIC TOOK OUT OF MY CAR AND I HAVE THE INVOICE FOR GETTING IT DONE. IS THAT WHAT YOU NEED?
