I shifted into reverse and the rear-view camera image was very distorted. I shifted to neutral and then reverse again with no help. After checking the internet for info I found comments regarding the wire harness leading to the trunk lid. I did not find any obvious damage, but jiggled the wires and re-checked the system and the rear-view image came back with a clear image. over the next week, the image become distorted multiple times and sometimes gone to a no signal message. This is occurring more frequently makes it impossible to see objects/children/etc close to the rear of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a black screen while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the infotainment screen displayed a black screen. The touchscreen icons failed to function as intended. The contact was unable to use the radio, and the A/C buttons failed to function. The radio would not turn on or would take approximately ten minutes for the radio to function. The contact stated that the infotainment screen failed to display if the A/C or heater was functioning properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
2018 with 24,000 miles (purchased brand new) every morning until the car warms up I dont have navigation, radio, Bluetooth, or back up camera's. I was told this was a common problem with Ford from the dealership but its not a recall. After researching online, its a very common problem with all makes and models of Ford. Of course I'm out of warranty to replace the APIM which is going to cost 1,000 out of pocket. Safety concerns: I have to navigate using my phone which is a distraction while driving, same thing with phone conversation I can be hand free, and I have a major blind spot while backing up because of no camera.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster remained blank. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle several times however, the instrument cluster remained blank. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at his own expense. The manufacturer advised the dealer and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V076000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,500.
The Accessory Protocol Interface Module failed. All functions of the camera, radio and entire middle display console do not work. When backing up to exit parking space or to back into a parking space I can't see what is behind me and have almost hit items multiple times. The dealer inspected and told me what the issue is; that it is not under warranty and would cost approximately $1000 to repair, which I don't have. There was no forewarning of this module failure; it occurred suddenly and without warning.
Purchased a used 2018 Ford Mustang 3 weeks ago, just now able to get it registered, and the entire electronic instrument panel cluster (e.g., speedometer, warning lights, etc.) all went fuzzy for a few minutes and then totally failed; now just stays totally dark and unreadable. This is an optional all digital instrument panel cluster with programmable color that was a $2,200 option when new. I read online in car forums reports of many others having the same exact issue with the optional 2018 Mustang digital instrument cluster failing and going dark some within weeks of the car being new, and there was a recall on this instrument panel going dark for the 2019 model year. I saw an online post where a driver is driving for 6 months without the speedometer or warning lights functioning because of the repair cost being more than $2000. I got a quote from a Ford dealer for my repair today: $2396.00. This car is less than 5 months out of bumper-to-bumper Ford warranty and under the 36,000 miles limit at 30,383. This appears to be a known and apparently frequent safety issue so I thought Ford customer support might help me out but on calling them today they said they cannot do anything to help. They expect me to pay the $2396.00 for repairs with no assistance for what looks to be an inherent safety defect.
Passenger door becomes unlatched and the door open light comes on at high way speeds. I have to stop, open the door and slam it shut. It happens repeatedly.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCHES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 10 MONTHS AND THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND SEVERAL TIMES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TWICE WITHIN 30 MINUTES ON THE LAST OCCURRENCE.
The transmission failed while driving on a busy street making a left turn. My safety and my passenger's safety was at risk because there was oncoming traffic when I made a left turn and a car was trailing me. Just like another complaint, "10 speed transmission did not engage then failed less than a second later while pulling into an intersection. This caused the car to enter the intersection but fail to go forward more than a few feet. The problem resolved after three attempts to go forward by pumping the gas peddle. The transmission also was jerking or jumping from 1st through 3rd gear as if the car could not find the correct gear to be in while going forward. The problem resolved after the first mile of driving". However, for me the problem returned again once I turned the car off, and restarted it. After less than a mile of driving, the transmission began malfunctioning again jumping, and jerking until the transmission just stopped working altogether. Someone has posted experiencing the same malfunction on the same model and year vehicle and I wonder if there are others that have had the same scary, horrible experience? Due to my transmission malfunctioning during my turn, I was lucky that the oncoming car just stopped and blew at me, and the car behind me just went around me instead of crashing into my rear. The car was towed to the dealer and is in the process of being evaluated. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the incident and the automobile is now at the dealership because the vehicle totally stopped driving.
Instrument cluster went black. Can’t know what speed I’m driving or anything. Have seen some people reported this issue.
10 speed transmission did not engage then failed less than a second later while pulling into an intersection. This caused the car to enter the intersection but fail to go forward more than a few feet. The problem resolved after three attempts to go forward by pumping the gas peddle. The transmission also was jerking or jumping from 1st through 3rd gear as if the car could not find the correct gear to be in while going forward. The problem resolved after the first mile of driving. This is a recurrent but sporadic issue. The issue has caused near miss collision by another driver thinking my car was going to accelerate when the forward motion stopped but there were no brake lights in indicate the car was not going forward. The jerking and jumping has made it hard to control the car during turns and on slippery road. I have an appointment scheduled for service at a Ford Dealer for them to see if the issue is able to be address.
Touchscreen went completely black. Unable to operate radio, temperature control is only available in the buttons below the screen. Tried resetting it, tried unhooking the battery, nothing. Hooked it up to see if it had any codes, none. Tested fuses- everything worked except screen. Spent $158 at Ford dealer only to be told I need a new APIM module which in total is going to cost $740. Car has 56,000 miles on it and is only 3 years old.
Battery terminals on this and other ford models corrode to the point of breaking electrical connection possibly disabling vehicle. Ford does not want to fix issue and says whole wiring harness requires replacement to repair. Battery is often replaced and terminal cleaned but it comes back. They try to put off repairs long enough to get it out of warranty. F150 ford pickups have same issue. Corrosion advances so far as to break battery cable clamp. It is generally the positive clamp. Problem is so common that aftermarket manufacturers have issued redesigned replacements.
Driver's door suddenly unlocks while driving in highway and message appears "Driver Door Ajar". Creates dangerous situation and have to stop to close door properly. This happened 3 in highway in different days and 2 or 3 times every day. Last time with 59244 miles.
CAR OWNER 2ND GENERATION MILEAGE 23,000+ ODOMETER. COMPLAINT SAYS VEHICLE WHEN IN REVERSE AND GOES BACK INTO DRIVE DURING SHIFTING. VEHICLE SOMETIMES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN APPLYING GAS PEDAL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONTACT STATED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PLANET FORD (20403 I-45, SPRING, TX 77388, (281) 719-3700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING AN UNKNOWN SPRING IN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000.
The passenger door become unlatched while driving. This happened on numerous occasions.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT TWO DIFFERENT TIMES IN A MUSTANG AND THE MOST OF MY INJURY WAS TO MY LEFT LEG FROM THE AIR BAG. I AM STILL LIMPING FROM IT. IT CAUSED MASSIVE BRUISES AND A FRACTURE TO MORE THAN ONE AREA OF MY LEFT LEG. ON THE DRIVER SIDE. BOTH ACCIDENTS WAS ON A CITY STREET. GOING 35 MILES AN HOUR.
For three years, this Mustang will lurch frequently after you shift into first or reverse from park. I had it looked at Paradise Ford 3 years ago and they REFUSED to look at transmission until the car had 125k miles on it. At that time, the car only had 98k miles on it. I tried to insist, but they refused. The service helper was named Mark, I believe. The other day I was driving on a 10mph park road .....more like coasting because it was a low speed limit. The car suddenly jerked forward. Today I took it into Gary Yeoman Ford in Palm Bay, FL for a transmission check. The service advisor was Jason. They said there was a cdf hub issue and stated I needed a new transmission for 6600.00. Of course I refused and came home to research their "diagnosis". I found an article about a,10R80 bushing that has caused the same exact problem is other Mustangs. I feel like they were giving me the run around. I don't want this to cause further problems. It should have been fixed at Paradise Ford. I have owned this car for 5.5 years. I'm quite familiar with how it runs. Please advise.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER RELEASING PEDAL, SOMETIMES ALSO AFTER PARKING CAR AND TURNING OFF.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING, LANE KEEPING ASSIST, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, DRIVER NOTIFICATION AND AUTO HIGH BEAM CONTROL STOPPED WORKING ON 2018 FORD MUSTANG. CAR CURRENTLY IN SHOP HAVING IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE RECALIBRATED FOR $1232.22. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR OTHER MUSTANGS AS INDICATED BY RECALL 20S26. FORD CLAIMS MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TO BE FOR THE SAME, KNOWN ISSUE. THE SYSTEM ALERTS ME THIS IS NOT WORKING AS SOON AS THE CAR IS STARTED VIA MESSAGE ON DASH AND SEVERAL BEEPS.
THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM (SYNC 3 W/ CARPLAY) THAT CAME STOCK WITH MY 2018 MUSTANG ECOBOOST RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR HAS 42K MILES ON IT AND IS JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD. SYNC 3 STARTED TO RANDOMLY LAG (20-60 SEC LAG PER BUTTON PRESS), BUTTONS BECAME UNRESPONSIVE (PRESS NOT RECOGNIZED AT ALL), SHOWED INCORRECT GPS LOCATIONS WHILE USING CARPLAY (PLUGGED IN) WITH MULTIPLE MAP SERVICES, BACKUP CAM ISSUES, AND WOULD CAUSE BLUETOOTH TO DISCONNECT RANDOMLY. I LOGGED A COMPLAINT WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND BROUGHT IT IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE APIM COMPONENT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALERSHIP NOTED THIS IS COMMON AND PLAGUES OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME APIM. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH VERIFIED THIS. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THIS: WHILE USING THIS SYSTEM IT CAN CREATE MANY DISTRACTIONS WHILE DRIVING IF THE SYSTEM IS NOT RESPONDING AS EXPECTED. EVEN THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS HAVE A LAG TO THEM. ONE SUCH SCENARIO THAT CAUSED GREAT ISSUE WAS ADJUSTING THE CLIMATE CONTROL DURING COLDER MONTHS WHEN THE WINDOWS/WINDSHIELD FOG UP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN'T SEE WHILE DRIVING. TYPICALLY, I CAN REACT QUICKLY TO GET RID OF THE FOG, BUT SINCE THIS COMPONENT IS DEFECTIVE, THE SYSTEM DID NOT RESPOND AND THE FOG HAD TO BE MANUALLY REMOVED. ADDITIONALLY, THIS COMPONENT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED WITHIN 2YR OF PURCHASE OF THE CAR, SINCE IT IS A COMPUTER. FORD OFFERED TO REPLACE THE APIM COMPONENT, FOR $1000 (WARRANTY EXPIRED AT TIME OF DIAGNOSTIC TEST). WHAT IS EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS IS THAT THEY WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH THE EXACT SAME MODEL NUMBER, WHICH TELLS ME IN ANOTHER 2YR I MAY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE STARTED UP WHILE I WAS IN WARRANTY (~30K MI), BUT SEEMINGLY WENT AWAY UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN THE SYSTEM HAS BECOME PRACTICALLY UNUSABLE. FORD (CORPORATE) ALSO CANNOT PROVIDE ANY RATIONALE AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING, PER THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REP.
THE VEHICLES PASSENGER FRONT SEAT RECLINING LATCH HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND NOW THE SEAT WILL NO LONGER STAY IN A LOCKED BACK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING WHEN THIS PART WAS BEING USED BY A CHILD TO ALLOW EXIT FROM THE BACK SEAT. WITH THE SEAT NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK BACK IT HAS NOW ADDITIONALLY CREATED A LACK OF VISION FOR THE DRIVER TO LOOK FOR ONCOMING VEHICLES THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR SINCE THE SEAT IS ALWAYS LEANING FORWARD.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR COMES OPEN AT LOW OR HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES THE SAME THING. MY MUSTANG IS A CONVERTIBLE SO WHEN THE DOORS COME OPEN OR AJARED IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING. THIS HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE OR IN THE COUNTRY OR IN THE CITY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS.
2018 MUSTANG GT 6 SPEED PERFORMANCE PACK, TIRES RUBBING ON INNER WHEEL WELLS CAUSING WIRES TO SHOW ON INSIDE OF TIRE, FEW MONTHS AGO TOOK CAR IT TO DEALERSHIP SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT THERE IS HOLES RUBBED INTO MY WHEEL WELLS, ALSO HAD A CLUTCH ISSUE AND NOISE AT SAME TIME AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AGAIN, TOOK CAR BACK AND A WEEK AGO HAD A CLUTCH AND TRANS PROBLEM COME ABOUT, HAVE TO FORCEFULLY PUSH SHIFTER INTO A GEAR FOR IT TO GO IN, WITH THE CLUTCH FULLY PRESSED I CAN PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND IT WILL ATTEMPT TO TAKE OFF, WITHOUT RELEASING THE CLUTCH, I CANNOT GET THE CAR INTO 6TH 5TH, 2ND AND REVERSE. 1ST,3RD,4TH GEARS ARE HARD TO GET IN BUT WILL GO FORCEFULLY. WITH CAR OFF I CANNOT GO IN MANY OF THE GEARS EITHER. WHEN THIS LAST PART HAPPEND I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO GO INTO 3RD AND IT WOULDN'T GO IN SO I DECIDED TO TRY 4TH AND IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE, CAR SEEM TO SHAKE WHILE DRIVING ALSO
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY.
I WAS INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 8/22/20 WHILE DRIVING MY 2018 MUSTANG GT. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY...EVEN THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER AND COLLISION SHOP ARE WONDERING WHY. MY CAR WAS TOTALED...I DO NOT BELIEVE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WORKED AS INTENDED. I WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHILE TRAVELING APPROX 30MPH, THE DRIVER THAT HIT ME STATED TO POLICE THAT HE WAS GOING 45MPH.
My digital dashboard has not been working for a year now, it’s a black screen. I am also having problems with my fuel pump. I can’t fill my car all the way up with gas or else my car will not start.
DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS TO ILLUMINATE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN PROBLEM OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START-UP THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GWINNETT PLACE FORD LOCATED AT 3230 SATELLITE BLVD, DULUTH, GA 30096, (404) 418-6877, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V814000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.*DT CONSUMER CANNOT SEE SPEED, ALERTS, AND LIGHTS.*JB
The contact owns 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while turned off and inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the driver’s and passenger’s side seat belts failed to retract as needed. The dealer immediately replaced the driver’s seat belt system but had declined to repair the vehicle at the time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was advised that the 1st and 2nd clutch plates needed to be replaced; however, when the contact attempted to start the vehicle the next day, it was difficult shifting gear, causing the vehicle to jolt while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be removed and the CDS Drum needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE PASSENGER DOOR BECOMES AJAR BY ITSELF. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. HAS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY, WHILE TURNING AND WHILE GOING DOWN A CITY STREET. HAPPENED JUST NOW ON WAY TO HOUSE. *TR
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES RANDOM NON REPEATABLE PERIODS OF HARD SHIFTING, REFUSAL TO GO INTO GEAR, GRINDING GEARS, JERKINESS AND WHAT FEELS OCCASIONALLY LIKE TRANSMISSION SLIPS. WHEN IT OCCURS IT MOSTLY HAPPENS UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION SUCH AS TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED ON AN ON RAMP OR TRYING TO GET TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT NOT ALWAYS. RECENTLY WHILE TRAVELING IN A 45MPH ZONE I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR. CLUTCH WAS FULLY DEPRESSED AND NOTICEABLE GEAR GRINDING HAPPENED AND AN IMMEDIATE SECOND ATTEMPT RESULTED IN SAME RESULT. HAD TO SHIFT TO 4TH CAUSING VEHICLE TO BE IN UNACCEPTABLE GEAR RANGE FOR CURRENT SPEED. SERVICE APPOINTMENT AT DEALERSHIP MADE JUNE 10TH 2020. ISSUE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY BUT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. LAST KNOWN INCIDENT HAPPENED JUNE 11 2020 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:30 PM EST ONE DAY AFTER MAKING APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP. *TR
THIS IS A CONVERTIBLE AND WHEN THE BACK WINDOWS ARE PUT DOWN THEY WILL NOT GO BACK UP PROPERLY. THEREFORE RAIN GETS IN AND RUINS THE CARPETS AND INTERIOR. CAUSING MOLD AND IT TO RUST OUT. EVEN BY HAND ADJUSTMENT THEY CAN NOT BE PROPERLY SEATED BACK.. AND THIS IS EVERYTIME THE TOP IS PUT DOWN. *TR
PASSENGER DOOR OPENS WHEN GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS. I WAS TRAVELING AT ONLY A FEW MILES AND I GUESS THE TRACKS CLICKED IT OPEN SOME HOW. SO NOW IT SEEMS THAT THE DOOR NOT ONLY OPENS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED BUT ALSO IF THE CAR HITS A BUMP OR SOMETHING ON THE ROADWAY EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS.. I WAS TRAVELING ON A COUNTY ROAD. *TR
PASSENGER DOOR COMES OPEN AS THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MANUALLY SHIFT INTO THIRD OR FOURTH GEAR ON A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOWN & COUNTRY FORD LOCATED AT 6015 PRESTON HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40219, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FOR 31 DAYS FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND WAS MUCH WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE THAT COULD BE PROVIDED; STATING THAT THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED PER THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000.
PASSENGER DOOR COMES OPEN WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS DONE IT ON HIGHWAY AND ON REGULAR STREETS . IT HAS DONE IT WHILE DRIVING 70 MILES AN HOUR AND AT 30 MILES AN HOUR. IT DOES IT EVEN WHEN IT IS IN THE LOCKED POSITION. *TR
PAINT FADING AROUND THE EDGES OF PANELS ON THE METALLIC BLACK COATING. HAVE MULTIPLE SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT IS FADING OUT TO WHITE
WHILE DRIVING MY MUSTANG ON THE INTERSTATE, THE POWER STEERING FAILED MAKING THE CAR EXTREMELY UNSTABLE. IT TOOK TREMENDOUS EFFORT TO STEER THE CAR SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
SO AT COLD START WHEN DRIVING WITHING 1800-2600 I GET THIS RATTLE PISTON SLAP ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE. I CHECKED FLUIDS NOT LOW ON ENGINE OIL. ONCE ENGINE GETS HOT ITLL STOP. HOWEVER IT DOES INCREASE IF I ACCELERATE. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING NEXT DAY I GOT MY CAR I REALIZED IT.
WHILE DRIVING THE 12" LED INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS GONE DARK FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THIS PANELS SHOWS SPEED, TACH, FUEL GAUGE, TEMP, OIL PRESSURE, I FOUND A RECALL FOR SIMILAR ISSUE ON THE 2019 MUSTANG AND OTHER FORD AUTOS. THIS MAY BE JUST SHOWING UP ON THE 2018 MUSTANG.
AT ACCELERATION THE CAR WON'T SHIFT WHEN NEEDED THEN IT'LL AUTOMATICALLY DOWN SHIFT AND STOP ACCELERATING. THE RPM GAGE NEEDLE BOUNCES UP & DOWN WITH & WITH ACCELERATION IMAGED SPEED STILL DECREASES THEN SOMETHING CATCHES AND IT'LL START ACCELERATING & RPM GOING TO HIGH THEN STARTS ALL OVER BEFORE FINALLY WORKING RIGHT.
INTERMITTENTLY, THE CLUTCH PEDAL WILL BE STUCK TO THE FLOOR AFTER PRESSING IT TO SWITCH GEARS. IT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I WAS GOING FROM NEUTRAL TO 1ST GEAR AND FROM 1ST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS THE CAR STALLED AND I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE AND SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME. IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED TO ME 2 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH BECAUSE I FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CLUTCH RETURN LINE IS AT FAULT BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO BE VERY SHORT. BECAUSE OF IT BEING SHORT, IT HAS A LOT OF TENSION ON IT. BECAUSE OF THE CAR HAVING A FLAT PLANE CRANK, I BELIEVE THE EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS THAT THE ENGINE CREATES MIGHT MAKE THIS LINE BACK OFF OVER TIME. MY CAR ONLY HAD 5,000 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING. THE LINE IS AN INTERFERENCE FIT ON THE FLUID RESERVOIR AND ITS CAUSE THE LINE TO SLOWLY LEAK EVERY TIME YOU TOUCH THE LINE BECAUSE THE SEAL ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. TO TEMPERATELY REMEDY THIS ISSUE, I HAVE JUST BEEN PUSHING THE LINE BACK ON. THIS ISN'T A GOOD FIX AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE CARS BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY AT SPEED. THE PICTURE ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE LINE THAT IS IN QUESTION. IN THE PICTURE, THE LINE WAS FITTED CORRECTLY ON THE FLUID RESERVOIR. THIS IS JUST TO SHOW THE FAULTY LINE IN QUESTION. I HOPE FORD CAN RECALL THESE CARS ASAP BECAUSE I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT REALLY.
MY SYNC 3 SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING, MY ENTIRE SCREEN WENT BLACK BACK IN JANUARY AND IT HASNT TURNED ON SINCE AND THAT INCLUDES MY BACKUP CAMERA. *TR
I BOUGHT MY FORD MUSTANG ON JUNE 2018. WHEN THE MILES HIT 30,000, THE ENGINE SHAKES EVERY TIME MY VEHICLE STARTS, AND MY WHOLE CAR SHAKES NOTICEABLY WHEN IDLING. THE EXHAUST GAS FLOW FROM THE CAR HAS OBVIOUS INTERMITTENT, MEANWHILE, THE EXHAUST PIPE SHAKES A LOT, AND YOU CAN CLEARLY HEAR THE "BURST" SOUND OR THUMP. IN ADDITION, MY WHOLE CAR HAS OBVIOUS JITTERS AT LOW SPEEDS OF MORE THAN 2,000, AND THE ACCELERATION IS WEAK. WHEN THE SPEED IS HIGH YOU CAN FEEL A LITTLE LESS JITTERY. IT IS NOT JITTERY UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS OF THE ENGINE. WHEN MY AUTO IS ON D OR R, IT DOESN'T MOVE AFTER I RELEASE THE BRAKE. PLUS, THE VARIABLE BOX OCCASIONALLY MAKES A STRANGE NOISE AND VEHICLE COOLANT DOES NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHAT SCARES ME THE MOST IS THAT ONE TIME I WAS DRIVING ON L-595 HIGH WAY, MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY, I TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT FAILED, I WAS PANIC, I HAD TO WAIT FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES ON THE HIGH SPEED ROAD TO TRY TO RESTART THE CAR AGAIN. LUCKILY I PULLED MY CAR IN THE EMERGENCY LANE, I CAN'T IMAGE IF IT WASN'T. AFTER ALL THOSE, I WENT TO MY DEALER AT PLANTATION FL, THEY CAN FIX FOR ME SINCE MY CAR IS STILL UNDER COVERAGE BUT I DON'T WANT GET IT REPAIRED. I DEEPLY DOUBT WHETHER THE REPAIR WOULD COMPLETELY FIX THOSE ISSUES. PLEASE HELP AND ADVICE IF I CAN GET MY CAR RECALLED? I WAS LOOKING FOR A CAR THAT I ALWAYS WANTED BUT NOT HANGING BY A THREAD.
10 speed Ecoboost transmission, doesn't stay in gear and delayed shifts causing acceleration problems. Hard shifts, jerking, and hard lunge forward when shifted into Drive. The forward lunge is unstoppable even with the brake fully engaged. Transmission slip when changing gears while driving. Yes, it's available for inspection. Yes, mine and others safety risk are at risk. Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. Inspected by an authorized dealer/manufacturer. NO other warning lamps or messages.
The parking brakes do not engage or release, perpetually stuck in-between (half-engaged). The handle inside the car can travel all the way to the top, but brakes do not engage enough to keep the car from rolling down my driveway without a brick under the tire. Upon inspection, it is obvious that the lever that controls the brakes does not release on either rear caliper (it only moves up - to the fully engaged position, but does not release). This began happening in 2019, but considered it normal wear. In 2021, the car started rolling back on hills. Ford was not helpful with the issue. I followed a service guide for adjusting the tension on the cable. This improved the situation until early 2023. Now, all of the adjustments are at max and the parking brake is inoperable. As Ford was previously unwilling to help, I'm hoping NHTSA can assist. Parking brakes should not fail after 1 year. They are not a wear item.
THE TRUNK WILL OPEN WHILE DRIVING WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE, GOING OVER ANY BUMP, OR EVEN WHEN I BRAKE. TOOK IT IN TO GET IT FIXED 3 TIMES WITH NO RESULTS. ALSO, THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS KEEP FAILING; RESULTING IN AN UNCOMFORTABLE RIDE.
